Finding the right place to stay in Paris is often about striking a balance between central access and a peaceful night’s sleep. While the bustling districts near the Louvre or the Champs-Élysées offer convenience, they often come with constant traffic and noise. For families, the challenge is even greater, requiring enough space, flexible bedding, and a welcoming attitude toward younger travelers.
The Marais district, specifically the area surrounding Place des Vosges, offers a rare compromise. Here, you are steps away from world-class museums and boutiques, yet the neighborhood retains a village-like calm. Originally built in the early 17th century, Place des Vosges is the oldest planned square in Paris, characterized by symmetrical red-brick facades and tranquil arcades.
For parents, the central lawn of the square provides a safe, enclosed space for children to play while adults rest on the benches under the chestnut trees. The surrounding streets are flat and highly walkable, making navigation with a stroller significantly easier than in the hillier neighborhoods of Montmartre. Furthermore, the area is packed with casual crêperies and bakeries that appeal to picky eaters.
Choosing a hotel in this specific arrondissement means you are investing in the quality of your downtime. After a long day of sightseeing, returning to a quiet, elegant square rather than a chaotic traffic hub can make or break a family vacation. It allows for leisurely evening strolls and early morning coffee runs without the stress of navigating massive crowds.
However, not all hotels in the Marais are created equal regarding family amenities. Some are housed in historic buildings with narrow staircases and limited room configurations, which can be difficult for those traveling with infants or multiple children. It is crucial to look for properties that explicitly offer connecting rooms, family suites, or cribs.
To help you plan the perfect Parisian getaway, we have curated a list of accommodations that cater specifically to the needs of families. These hotels combine the historic charm of the neighborhood with the practical necessities that make traveling with children smoother and more enjoyable.

I would not recommend this property.
I booked a four-night stay, and while the location is convenient and close to the metro, the experience was extremely disappointing.
As soon as I entered Room 712, I noticed that the air conditioning was not working and the television in the bedroom was broken. I reported both issues to the front desk multiple times, every day and night of my stay. Each time, I was given excuses, room-temperature bottles of water, and promises that maintenance would come. Unfortunately, no one ever showed up, and neither issue was resolved.
By the third night, I had enough. After walking nearly 17,000 steps each day exploring Paris, the last thing I wanted was to return to a hot, uncomfortable room with no working air conditioning. Instead of cool air, the room was filled with fans circulating warm, dry air, making it difficult to relax or sleep.
It also appeared that this is an ongoing problem with the hotel's HVAC system. There were three portable heaters stored in the closet, which suggests management is aware of the issue. Fans and portable heaters are not an acceptable substitute for a properly functioning heating and air conditioning system, especially when guests are paying for a comfortable stay.
Because the hotel failed to address these issues, I canceled my fourth night and booked another hotel with working air conditioning. This was my first trip to Paris, and it was disappointing that such basic amenities were not provided despite repeated requests for assistance.

I recently stayed here as a teacher on a school trip and could not have been happier with this hotel and the staff. Upon arrival rooms were ready and clean, and keys were organized into envelopes for us with the students’ names on them. Halfway through our 6 night stay, rooms were fully cleaned. Before that, we were able to get fresh linens as needed. A cute bonus were the Easter decorations that kept popping up in the lobby!
The front desk and breakfast room staff were always kind and courteous, especially Abad who was often at the front and able to help us and our students with any issues they had. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a very well appointed kitchen which was very helpful for the days when we made to go lunches for our students. The neighborhood was great, excellent location with convenient metro station and lots of food options around- we felt safe letting the kids explore in small groups.
Having lived just outside Paris, and stayed at various hotels/ air bnbs in Paris over the past 20 years, I know the city well. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone I knew who was coming to the city, and I would happily stay here again myself with another school group or on my own.

Citadines Bastille Marais Paris was the first stop on our multi-city vacation and we booked it mostly because of the location, the reviews, and the size - my wife and I eloped in Paris, and needed a unit with some space to get her ready for our wedding and photoshoot. And this apartment was more than suitable. It had separate bedroom, bathroom and living room areas, and a balcony. It was clean, functional, and served our needs.
We had little interaction with the staff except on one morning, where I had a very nice conversation with a friendly fellow from Algeria whose name I can't remember.
The location is excellent, and it's a couple of blocks from the Richard Lenoir Metro station. There is free coffee on the first floor. We didn't eat breakfast here, so we can't rate that.
Although this facility isn't European old-world charm, it's a popular hotel, where some of the guests were repeat visitors. The only issue that prevents 5 stars is that on our floor - 3 - for nearly all of our visit, it smelled like there was a sewer issue. Of course, on our last day, they seemed to have corrected the problem.
We would stay here again.

Excellent location and decently priced rooms. Many people are complaining that the rooms are not nice, not very modern, worn, older... well, you are in Paris, get out and explore it, come back after doing 20K steps. You won't notice anything except being thankful, sitting on the balcony, watching the world go by, and sipping some wine. Extra points added for the staff, who kindly found my work phone after we left France and helped to arrange express next-day delivery. Cheers!

Very disappointing and disrespectful. The Studio Deluxe with a balcony I booked did not match the photos shown on the website. If the room had been accurately presented, I would not have paid extra for a space like this and I felt completely misled. I went to the front desk to raise the issue but was told nothing could be done because the hotel was fully booked. The response suggested staff were already aware of this problem and had been ignoring it. Although they were polite, there was no genuine effort to address the issue of charging a premium rate for a room that was not truly a deluxe category.
I also shared some images showing the difference between what was presented at the time of booking and the actual room provided.

Beautiful hotel with a lovely design and a fantastic atmosphere. The neighborhood is unbeatable, with plenty to explore and a great Parisian feel.
What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful throughout my stay. Any issue I had was handled quickly and with a great attitude, which made a huge difference and made me feel very welcome.
A wonderful stay overall, and I would happily recommend this hotel.

My wife and I loved this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, the morning food and beverages were excellent, and located in Le Marais which is such a charming neighborhood. So many things close by within walking distance and the metro station is nearby too. The room was big enough to accommodate us and efficiently designed. Highly recommend!!

Great little boutique hotel in the Marais. Adorable rooms but NO AC!!!!! We loved our room and the team was very sweet. But please upgrade and get AC. The heat was sweltering and miserable.

Positives:
The location was great, close to metro and grocery stores, and cafes. The aesthetic of the lobby and rooms are cute. Staff was very accommodating. They held our bags for us after check out so we could explore the city some more.
Negatives:
The beds were extremely uncomfortable. After the first night, our backs were hurting and it just got worse every night. The cleaning staff start cleaning very early on in the morning and they are so loud, they don’t seem to try to be courteous to sleeping guests at all. They also leave their cleaning stuff all over the hallway to where it almost seems like a hazard. Not to mention the walls are paper thin, we could hear water from the rooms next to ours running when they used the restroom. The elevator was very small so we couldn’t bring all our luggage up at once. There are stairs getting from when you exit the elevator to getting to your room which are very narrow and twisty. The hallway by the rooms aren’t very wide. Ceilings are a bit low, so if you’re over 6ft, your head is going to be almost touching the ceiling. Just an fyi that the Tv doesn’t have any English channels, so if you want to watch tv in English, you won’t be able to. The bathroom shower is in a tub where you have to step up pretty high to climb into it and the shower glass only covers a little less than half, so water gets on the floor when using it. When flushing the toilet, the small button to flush got stuck and wouldn’t come out so we were only able to flush using the big button. They don’t give you wash cloths so you will need to bring your own. The rooms are small, we had to rearrange a bit to get our suitcases laid out. We requested a late checkout the night before checking out and the gentleman at the desk said we could do 12pm, however, we received a call at 11:40am from a different employee at the front desk irritably saying “checkout was at 11:30 and its now 11:40”. When I told him about our approved late check out (apparently it wasn’t put into a system somewhere), he said “no, check out is at 11:30am, checkout BEFORE 12” and he hung up on me. When we got down to the desk, he said that housekeeping was pressuring with cleaning the room. It was very annoying and frustrating that one employee said one thing and another employee said another.
Even though the price was more affordable than others in the area, we wouldn’t stay here again because of the uncomfortable bed, thin walls, and loud house keepers.

Our family of four arrived in Paris from Rome and were very pleased with our stay at Les Patios du Marais. The apartment was exactly as described and pictured, making it easy to settle in after our travels.
The location was outstanding and one of the highlights of our stay. We were able to explore much of Paris on foot, and when needed, both the Metro and taxis were conveniently close by.
We also appreciated the thoughtfulness of our host during the extreme heat wave. Two fans had been set up and were already running when we arrived, making the apartment as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. While the unusually high temperatures meant we didn’t spend much downtime inside the apartment, we enjoyed relaxing in the charming outdoor courtyard and covered hallways, where the café tables and chairs provided a pleasant, cooler place to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Overall, this was an excellent home base for exploring Paris. Between the convenient location, comfortable accommodations, and attentive host, we would happily stay here again and recommend Les Patios du Marais to other travelers.

Great Location if you have a short amount of time to visit Paris! The rooms are also very clean, well maintained, and well decorated. If you are planning to book make sure that you have no problems with stairs, ours was on the 4th floor and they are very steep. We had no problems with them but other people might.
The only problem I had was the service. There was a heatwave the days we were here and all I asked for was one more fan, not even for them to fix the AC, to make our stay more comfortable. All I got was that they had reached out to the “team”. I understand other people might be asking for the same but just tell us that you cant so we dont keep waiting.
Anyway this stay would probably be one of the best if there was no heatwave! 🤣 If you are sensitive to heat and plan on going in the summer, find a different hotel that specifically has AC

Lovely little apartment. It was great for 3 of us. Very clean, beds very comfortable. Great location, just down the stairs we had 3 little cafes for morning coffee options, a boulangerie for all kinds of wonderful pastries, many lunch and dinner options, a wine bar.
walking distance too the Louvre, the Hop o Hop off Bus. etc.
We are very happy with our choice.

I was a little hesitant to book after reading some of the reviews, but I’m so glad I did. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The moment I walked in, everything smelled fresh and clean, which immediately put me at ease.
As someone who used to work in property management, I know what signs to look for when it comes to cleanliness and potential pest issues. I did a thorough check of the room and found absolutely nothing concerning.
The hotel itself is charming, the location is fantastic, and it offers excellent value for the price. I noticed some reviews mentioning that the rooms are small, but honestly, the room size felt very normal for Paris standards. If you’re expecting a typical Paris hotel room, you’ll likely find it perfectly comfortable.
I do agree with one of the other reviews regarding the stairs. We stayed on the 5th floor, so it’s worth considering your mobility and luggage size when booking. If you’re healthy, able, and don’t mind a few flights of stairs, our 5th-floor room was great and well worth it.
I can also see where some guests may have concerns about the level of service, as this is a self-check-in property. If you’re not particularly tech-savvy or prefer a traditional front desk experience, it may not be the best fit. However, for my husband and me (in our 30s and 40s), the process was incredibly easy and honestly something we preferred. It was quick, seamless, and much faster than waiting to check in with staff.
Overall, this is a clean, cute hotel in a fantastic location that offers great value for the price. We had a wonderful stay and would happily stay here again.
Lindsay Beable★★★★☆
As it was the middle of a very hot heatwave and temps were up to 40°c the "Iceluxe" unit did not really cut it.
The studio is on the top floor (4th) and the main bed has v limited head space between it and the roof of the building.. so it was hot, hot hot!!. The decor of the studio is good and the building has a rustic charm. The shaded communal patios were a god send. However considering the wider situation not having in person reception or contact for reassurance and local knowledge was a noticeable deficit.

I had a wonderful stay at this charming boutique hotel in Paris! The location was excellent—centrally located and within easy reach of many of the city’s attractions, making it a great base for exploring. Stayed here during Fete de la Musique during the heatwave!
One thing I especially appreciated was the air conditioning. I visited during the heatwave, and having a cool, comfortable room after a long day of sightseeing made a huge difference.
The room was cute and cozy. Like many hotels in Paris, it was on the smaller side, but it was actually more spacious than I expected and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
The staff were friendly, courteous, and welcoming throughout my visit. I was only here for two nights, but I was very happy with my experience. Overall, I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Paris.
Also loved the cute tote bag and snacks provided! That totebag came in handy for my entire Europe trip!

We spent 4 nights at this hotel.
Location: very convenient, a few steps away from metro station, a wide range of restaurants, cafes and bars around. Walking distance to Seine river bank.
Service: average, nothing to complaint because almost no service because it’s a small hotel.
Room: room size is small but it’s newly renovated and cozy. I’m happy with the room itself but the sound proofing is terrible. The room next door just makes sounds of door moving all the time, the whole night, all the day. I don’t know why.

I stayed for a night and I‘m leaving very satisfied!
The guys at the reception are super nice and helpful.
Tarik contacted me before getting to the hotel and was super easy to communicate with. Some guests forgot their bags in the street and he made sure the bag was safe. They came back when I was coming in, I witnessed it all. Great person! 👍
The rooms respond to the price. It was very clean and comfortable. What I found cute they even give you ear plugs next to your bed and a little gift as a shopping bag and biscuits. The metro is just outside the hotel. Will book again when I get to Paris.

Surely, the price v quality ratio cannot be beaten. The location is perfectly situated opposite the metro station (Breguet Sabin or Richard Lenoir), or 10 minutes' walk to Bastille and the River Seine. The breakfast has also improved since we stayed there years ago. Clean, quiet, convenient. An excellent choice.

I had the worst expeience with this hotel. I made a mistake in my reservation, since brief of March is Mar, quite similar to May. Very quickly, I noticed it and contacted the hotel to offer pay any difference of price to change the dates and was relentlessly rejected. 1600 USD was fed to dogs.
I understand the policy of my reservation (non-refundable), but was still shocked by their cold-blood. The policy is aimed to protect hotel's interests, of course. But it is supposed to implemented on a basis of humanity. In case that hotel's interest is not impaired, decency of Paris and France and mutual understanding should be maintained.

We had an excellent stay at Le Temple de Jeanne.
What stood out most was the exceptional level of service and personal attention. Throughout our week-long stay, every interaction was warm, professional, and welcoming, but we would especially like to recognize Moises. From the moment he greeted us at check-in to assisting us again at check-out, he consistently demonstrated outstanding hospitality, professionalism, and genuine care for guests. His attention to detail and willingness to help made us feel truly welcome. We would also like to thank Loris, whose welcoming attitude and attentiveness contributed to the overall quality of our stay.
The service at Le Temple de Jeanne feels genuinely personalized, almost like staying at a small inn rather than a hotel. It is clear that the team takes pride in making guests feel welcome and well cared for.
The room was very comfortable, quiet, and spotless. While we did not spend much time in the room because there is so much to see and do in Paris, it was always a peaceful place to return to after a busy day.
The location is simply outstanding and one of the hotel's greatest strengths. Situated in the heart of Le Marais, you are within walking distance of countless cafés, bakeries, restaurants, shops, and many of Paris's most iconic attractions. The Saint-Paul metro station is literally just outside the hotel entrance, making it incredibly easy to get anywhere in the city. A taxi stand is located directly across the street, and the hotel's central location provides convenient access to public transportation, adding even more convenience to an already exceptional location.
Le Temple de Jeanne perfectly combines the charm and personalized service of a boutique hotel with one of the best locations in Paris. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Our stay in Paris for our Honeymoon was nothing short of exceptional, and this hotel played a huge role in making the experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and a level of genuine care that you rarely find anymore.
Moses and his team were simply outstanding — truly some of the kindest, most attentive people we’ve ever encountered in hospitality. Every interaction felt personal, thoughtful, and effortless. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and consistently went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.
The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, historical, elegant, and incredibly comfortable — the perfect amount of Parisian charm. Every detail, from the rooms to the service to the overall atmosphere, reflected excellence and intention.
What really set this stay apart, though, was the people. Moses and his team made us feel valued, taken care of, and completely at home while abroad — which is the highest compliment you can give a hotel.
We travel often and experience many great properties, but this one stands in a category of its own. If you’re coming to Paris and want a flawless experience with world-class service, this is the place.
We will absolutely be back!

The location was outstanding! Immediate access to the Bastille Metro stop made getting to any part of the city a breeze. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was basic but was a good size (for Paris) and was very clean. The only minor issue we had was that the air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool, but that is not surprising given that we were on the fourth floor and it was over 90 degrees outside. The hotel is a great value. We will definitely stay here again.

We had the best experience with the kindest staff on April 11. We mistakenly booked the wrong date for this hotel and the staff went out of their way to help us find another nearby. This included giving us coffee, calling the booking company to clarify the error, calling around to other hotels nearby and ensuring we found another place within our price range. Their help was above and beyond expectation for service which they did not need to do. These were 2 very kind people who helped us immensely when we needed it.

Wow you could not find a better location. Half a block from the Place Des Vosges square. Yael greeted us warmly and taught us all we needed to know about the hotel workings and the room. Rooms are charming, albeit small, as most rooms in Paris are.
Note that there is a small lift, but it only goes from the second floor, so you have to carry your bags up the first flight of stairs.

Terrible experience — avoid this hotel
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel in Paris. The room was unbelievably small, to the point where there was barely enough space to enter the room or open my luggage properly. The overall condition of the room was very poor, with damaged items and a door that felt like it was falling apart. Every time I entered or left, I had to physically hold the door because it did not feel secure.
The service was just as bad as the condition of the room. I had booked a 6-day stay, but after 4 days I could no longer continue staying there due to the poor room condition and overall experience. I requested a refund for the remaining two nights that I was not going to use, but the receptionist and management rejected the request without offering any reasonable solution, alternative room, partial refund, or meaningful support.
For the price and location, I expected at least a clean, functional, and reasonably maintained room. Instead, I received a cramped, damaged room and very poor customer service. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Terrible experience — not worth the price
I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. While the location is good, the overall quality of the room does not match the price at all. The room was extremely small and felt uncomfortable.
What shocked me the most was the lack of basic amenities. There was no kettle, no cups, no complimentary water, and no fridge in the room. For a hotel at this price level, this is completely unacceptable.
Additionally, the condition of some parts of the hotel felt worn and poorly maintained, which made the experience even worse.
I would not recommend staying here. There are much better options in Paris for the same money.

The location of the hotel is great, next to the park and also lots of restaurants and bars nearby, you can get almost anything you need. The hotel is in a very old building so The room is quite small. Our room is facing to the street and it’s a bit noisy at night or weekend becasue the bars just downstairs and ppl stays until very late. If you have sleep problems, you need to think about it . But otherwise the hotel is generally ok.

This hotel was a real hidden gem, underrated for what it offers. The rooms are spacious, and we loved the boutique feel of the entire building. Service was great, and all the staff were accommodating. Two special shoutouts: the air conditioning was fantastic—especially given the heat wave during our stay, it was the best cooling experience we had anywhere in Europe 😅—and the massage we booked was wonderful, perfect after our long haul flight. The location was fantastic (walking distance to metro and the heart of Le marais) and made our time in Paris a highlight of the trip. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Nothing but positive feedback from our stay. Located less than two minutes from Bastille metro station, it’s so easy to get around. The Room & Amenities
My room was excellent—clean, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a hassle-free stay. It was the perfect space to retreat to after a day of exploring.
Spa & Wellness
The spa is absolutely charming and serves as a wonderful way to unwind. It’s a standout feature if you’re looking to de-stress during your trip.

Petite gem! Stayed 3 nights (that unexpectedly turned into 4) - perfect location, clean, safe, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Missed my train out of Paris and had no telephone service to call the hotel. I emailed them, and they very quickly responded that they had a room available for the extra night. This hotel was a more budget friendly recommendation of Rick Steve’s, and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Twin room is a bit larger with a larger bath. Side note - the AC worked perfectly!

On the whole, this was not a good stay. I know that budget hotel rooms can be small in Paris, but these were really crammed in - you wouldn’t want to turn up with a large suitcase and certainly not two. Unfortunately on our first night, there was a rat in the ceiling trying to rearrange the electric cables. Paris is an old city and I live on a farm, so I’m not overly horrified by this (except for any potential fire risk), but I needed the sleep, so the next morning my very polite French speaking daughter asked if we could move to another room. The staff seemed unsurprised by our request and moved us without question. Unfortunately though, we stupidly left our phone chargers - one an expensive Apple flash charger - in the old room and when we tried to retrieve them, they had disappeared. The room didn’t appear to have been relet and there wasn’t much help from the staff, who directed us to a shop round the corner. This really annoyed me, because it’s just dishonest and very disappointing. The staff generally weren’t particularly welcoming, or helpful - they actually seemed more interested in their phones. The bathrooms were particularly tired and neither shower door in either room closed. The breakfast was ok, but the reception area where you eat it is tiny and you’d be hard pressed to sit down if every guest turned up at the same time. They have built a further seating area outside on the side of the road, but not sure how that works in the rain - maybe more building work is planned, but we won’t be returning to find out.

Very good hotel. Clean, very helpful and friendly staff, and beautiful design. The rooms were nicely cooled down. The breakfast was ok (but french breakfast is usually not so luxurious), with croissants, baguettes, some spreads and marmelade, youghurt, coffee and tea. I like that there was free coffee, filtered water and small treats available for the guests the whole day.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Location is excellent. Metro is very convenient. Much to see in the Le Marais district. Hotel staff were warm and welcoming especially Sidi and Nelvim. Free and decent coffee in the lobby.

Lovely service and wonderful staff. The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and in a fantastic location close to everything. Emma and Sid were especially lovely and helpful, giving us great recommendations for places to eat. Would definitely recommend!

Cozy room, great atmosphere, and outstanding staff. A short but great stay at Maison Breguet. The highlight was definitely the service; the staff was proactive and took care of everything seamlessly. Our room was quiet, cozy, and had wonderful attention to detail. The only hiccup was an early breakfast—we had to eat right as doors opened, and the full spread wasn't quite ready yet, though the team worked hard to make sure we were taken care of regardless.

Such a beautiful hotel. All staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are beautiful, have everything you need and bed was super comfortable. The location is perfect, near the metro and walking distance to all the key spots. The gym, pool and spa was excellent - I also booked a massage which was phenomenal and Toi my therapist was so thorough and attentive. Loved my stay

A truly charming and elegant Parisian stay. Maison Brueget has a wonderful French atmosphere, classy, refined, and full of character. The breakfast was beautifully presented, tasteful, and offered a lovely combination of flavours. I really enjoyed starting the day there. The hotel’s café-style setting, especially the courtyard, created a very authentic Parisian feel. The rooms were beautifully decorated with a stylish retro-inspired design that added warmth and personality. The location was also very convenient, close to a metro station with plenty of restaurants nearby. The swimming pool and massage facilities were a lovely bonus, making the stay even more relaxing.
A wonderful place to experience the charm and elegance of Paris. I would happily return.

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff specifically were incredible (Anthony in particular). We stayed with our daughter and it was our first international trip and it really felt like Anthony went out of his way to ensure we had a good experience including coordinating the babysitter and ensure all the paperwork was completed for our security. Strongly recommend!

Beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Loved the neighbourhood. The Junior Suite was perfect for two adults and two teens. Breakfast buffet was delicious! Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Ibis Bastille Opera in the 11th arrondissement of Paris is a very good choice for a stay in this wonderful city of love. Its biggest advantage is its great location in a quiet area, with a direct metro connection to Gare du Nord, which makes it an excellent base for sightseeing around the city, as well as the underground hotel parking, which is an ideal solution for travelers arriving by car.
The rooms are small but clean and well maintained. In our triple room there was a large double bed and a fold out chair used as an extra bed. However, setting up the additional bed was quite troublesome. It is also worth noting that with larger suitcases there may be a lack of space, and the shower cabin is quite small. On the plus side, there is a TV with Chromecast, which unfortunately did not work in our room, and there was also no safe.
The staff is very polite and helpful.
Special thanks and warm regards to MARIE at the reception for her kindness and professional service. We would gladly return during our next visit to Paris!

Ibis Bastille Opéra Paris
Pros:
• Clean and well-maintained hotel.
• Varied breakfast with good options for different tastes.
• Excellent location, with easy access to public transportation and major attractions.
• The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, decorated with natural plants that create a pleasant atmosphere.
Areas for improvement:
• The rooms are a bit small, which may be less comfortable for longer stays.
• The shower area is also quite compact.
Overall:
A good hotel with a great location, cleanliness, and a nice breakfast. Despite the small rooms and shower space, it offers good value for money and is worth staying at.

Business booking, so I had no choice. The foods not great. The bar prices are stupid high for a hotel of it's quality and you can't even fit in the showers properly. The hot water is hit and miss. No coffee and tea facilities in the tiny basic rooms and all the plumbing leaked on the floor after a shower or using the sink. So that was good. Anyway I'll be back later in the year because it's close to work.

Hotel is very well located, rooms are a bit tiny, staff is nice but overall experience a bit negatively impacted by having to pay for lockers to store your luggage on day of departure (even though having Accor membership gold status) and on-line reservation system not allowing to extend a stay. You have to make additional reservation ending up having to reprogram room access card in the middle of the stay.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, the room was nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, there were a few issues that affected our experience. The room was not as clean as expected, and the sink was clogged during our stay. In addition, housekeeping usually came in the afternoon, when we had already returned to the room and wanted to rest. With some improvements in cleanliness and housekeeping scheduling, the experience would be much better.

Nice stay, old but well maintained building. Nice staff, good, safe, location. Lots of options for eating around. Only issue - when I checked in I was told the hours and the location for breakfast. I am in a multi country tour and some of my hotels include completely breakfast, so I believed this is one of them. The staff did not mention the price of the breakfast, just said the breakfast is there every morning. So, when I left I was presented a bill I had no idea about!

Front desk staff are amazing. The rooms are small but nice. Our room had the toilet separate from the shower and sink area which was nice. The curtains, bedding, lighting and bath decor are all very nice as well. The elevator is tiny and can barely fit two plus luggage, but, thankfully it does since we were on the top floor. Many things were walkable plus we were near the St Paul Metro, buses and a taxi stand.

We have stayed at the Hotel Turenne Le Maris twice and both times we were very pleased. The location is amazing. The rooms are clean. The front desk is very accommodating and knowledgeable. They serve a wide variety of food items for their continental breakfast. (Scrambled or hard boiled eggs, fruit or plain yogart, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, fresh fruit, charcuterie, croissants, etc.
We will stay there again.

Could not be in a better location. The area is full of amazing places to eat, fruit, cheese, wine and other shops.
Room was not cheap and not big. But the bed was comfortable and the AC worked well.
Front desk staff were mostly friendly (1 was grumpy).
Between 2 metro stations and busses.

This hotel does not honor its reservation policy. I reserved for the night of May 9th, the day before we were flying out from a three-week trip in France. One week before we were supposed to check in, they sent me an email that my reservation was cancelled. I immediately reached out and they claimed I had not provided a credit card to guarantee the reservation. If you reserve on their web site, you CANNOT reserve without providing a valid credit card. I had provided a valid credit card, same one I provided to the various lovely hotels I stayed in for three weeks in France. What I feel occurred here is this was the Victory Day weekend celebration and this hotel had the opportunity to make more money renting both Friday and Saturday rather than just Saturday to us and booted us out. This is extremely poor business policy and caused us to have to really scramble to find a place at the very last minute. I would avoid a hotel with such poor ethics and business policies.
Tips for Choosing a Family Hotel in the Marais
Selecting the right hotel involves more than just looking at photos of the lobby. When traveling with children, the logistical details of the property will dictate how restful your trip is. To ensure you book a stay that meets the specific needs of your family, consider the following practical advice based on the unique layout and characteristics of this historic district.
Prioritize Proximity to Green Space.
While Place des Vosges is the main attraction, look for hotels that are also a short walk to the Seine or the Jardin des Archives Nationales. Having a nearby green area is invaluable for letting children burn off energy before dinner or during a midday break.
Check Elevator Access Carefully.
The Marais is known for its historic architecture, which often means buildings are classified as heritage sites. Many boutique hotels are located in buildings that predate modern elevators. Always confirm that the property has a lift, and if it does, check the size—some are quite small and may not fit a large stroller.
Inquire About Breakfast Inclusions.
Parisian breakfasts can be expensive when purchased per person at a hotel café. Many family-friendly hotels offer packages where children eat free or at a reduced rate. Starting the day with a full breakfast on-site saves time and prevents "hanger" tantrums before you find a local boulangerie.
Understand the Room Configuration.
In Paris, "family rooms" do not always mean two separate bedrooms. Often, it is a larger room with a sofa bed or a rollaway cot. If privacy is important for your family, specifically search for properties that offer "connecting rooms" or "adjoining rooms" rather than just a suite.
Consider Soundproofing.
While the area is quieter than others, street-level noise from cafés and late-night pedestrians can still disturb light sleepers. Look for reviews that specifically mention double-glazed windows or rooms facing an interior courtyard. A courtyard view often guarantees a quieter night for napping children.
Check for Bathroom Practicalities.
Older hotels sometimes feature beautiful claw-foot tubs but no handheld showerheads, which can make bathing toddlers difficult. If you are traveling with a baby or a young child, ask if the bathrooms have a bathtub or if the hotel can provide a baby bath.
Look for Nearby Transport Links.
Although the Marais is walkable, little legs get tired quickly. Ensure your hotel is within a five to ten-minute walk of a Metro station, such as Saint-Paul (Line 1), Chemin Vert (Line 8), or Bastille (Lines 1, 5, and 8), to easily access the rest of the city.
Staying near Place des Vosges offers a distinct advantage for families looking to experience Paris without the overwhelming pace of the city’s busiest tourist zones. The combination of historic beauty, quiet streets, and high-quality dining creates an environment where both parents and children can relax. By choosing a hotel that understands the nuances of family travel, you set the stage for a memorable and stress-free vacation.
Whether you spend your days exploring the Picasso Museum, hunting for treasures in the Village Saint-Paul, or simply flying a kite on the square’s lawn, your accommodation should serve as a comfortable home base. With the right preparation and a focus on the specific amenities outlined above, your family can enjoy the elegance of the Marais with all the comforts of home.
