15 Best Shopping Spots in Paris

Paris is a city that refuses to be reduced to a single postcard. While the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre draw the crowds, the true soul of the French capital often reveals itself in the quiet luxury of a hidden courtyard or the bustling energy of a century-old covered passage.

For the discerning traveler, shopping here is not just a transaction; it is a cultural immersion that spans regal history, avant-garde design, and gastronomic excellence. Navigating the city’s retail landscape can be overwhelming, which is why a curated guide is essential for making the most of your time and budget.

The geography of Parisian shopping is wonderfully diverse. Each arrondissement offers a distinct personality, from the bohemian alleyways of the Left Bank to the gilded avenues of the Right Bank. Whether you are hunting for vintage haute couture, rare first-edition books, or the perfect macaron, the city provides an embarrassment of riches.

Understanding the layout and the specialties of each district will save you from tourist traps and lead you toward authentic local experiences. Timing and etiquette play a significant role in the Parisian shopping experience. Unlike in some cultures where immediate assistance is standard, French shopkeepers often prefer that customers browse quietly before engaging.

A polite “Bonjour” upon entering a boutique is not just a nicety; it is a mandatory sign of respect that sets the tone for the entire interaction. Knowing these unspoken rules transforms a simple purchase into a pleasant exchange. The concept of “shopping” in Paris extends far beyond clothing and accessories. The city is a haven for food lovers, antique collectors, and art enthusiasts.

Markets overflow with regional produce, while specialty stores dedicated to mustard, salt, or tea have been perfecting their craft for centuries. To truly shop like a local, one must be willing to explore beyond the department stores and step into the places where Parisians themselves go to find quality and value.

This guide focuses on diversity and depth, offering a mix of world-famous landmarks and secret local haunts. We have curated a list that balances luxury with affordability, ensuring that there is something for every type of shopper. From the literary stalls lining the Seine to the concept stores of the Marais, these destinations represent the very best of Parisian retail.

Below, you will find a comprehensive selection of the most compelling shopping destinations the city has to offer. Use this as your roadmap to avoid the generic and discover the extraordinary.

Westfield Forum des Halles is a huge and very busy shopping mall. Conveniently located at Chatelet - Halles metro and RER station and a half mile walk to the Louvre. 4 floors of all kinds of shops and restaurants along with a movie theatre. If you want to shop like the locals make your way here. Large park area on top of it as well.
Coffeelover20★★★★★
Amazing shopping, a place worth it to spend hours and hours exploring if you want to buy or see all kinds of products all at once. The mall has all kinds of stores and original ones that makes it unique on it's own. It even has a connection with the metro because of how huge and extense it is. As I remember, the mall had eight floors (without counting the metro connection) and is able to be like that because of it has an incredible architecture that makes it efficient and functional without loosing the style of the building around it.
Tahir Khan★★★★★
Westfield Forum des Halles is one of the best shopping spots in Paris — modern, lively, and full of great brands, restaurants, and entertainment. The atmosphere is energetic, and the location in the heart of the city makes it perfect for both shopping and relaxing after exploring Paris. Definitely worth visiting for a complete Paris shopping experience.
Eddy Gunawan★★★★★
A well-curated shopping mall featuring a solid mid-market tenant mix, from Inditex brands to local names such as Celio. The dining options are equally diverse, ranging from Italian cuisine and distinctive Japanese concepts to familiar choices like KFC. The mall is an integral part of the Les Halles complex, directly connected to the Châtelet–Les Halles metro station, and conveniently located just steps away from our hotel at Citadines Les Halles.
A Qadri★★★★☆
Variety if shops with nice atmosphere. However, coming by car was a real hassle. The traffic around the mall is terrible and parking is very expensive. I highly recommend taking public transport instead of driving. Still a solid shopping destination overall, so 4 stars!"

Gorgeous upper end department store. You have to go to the center and find the beautiful Stainglass dome. There is a platform on the fourth floor to get a closer look at the dome. If you go to the top floor, you can see the exterior metal support for the dome. There are a couple of places for drinks and food on the rooftop with great views of the city. You will find a floor of women’s shoes. I ran through and took photos of the most interesting. There is makeup, perfume(and a separate store next door with mostly perfumes), jewelry, clothing, children’s attire, purses. It’s worth a stop for the views and to window shop or window lick as the French call it.

At Galeries Lafayette, the ground floor is dedicated to cosmetics, perfumes, and fragrances from various luxury brands. When you first enter this space, you are immediately surrounded by different scents, and perhaps some of them take you back to memories because of the familiar fragrance of your favorite perfume. But as you continue further, you suddenly discover a stunning architectural masterpiece at the heart of the store that captures your attention and makes the entire shopping experience unforgettable. This place represents a beautiful and authentic French style, full of elegance and heritage. From the rooftop of this iconic department store, you can also enjoy a wonderful view of the city of Paris.

Absolutely breathtaking! Galeries Lafayette in Paris is an experience in itself, not just a department store. The stunning architecture, incredible glass dome and beautifully presented displays make it feel like you’re walking through a piece of Parisian history. The atmosphere is fantastic, with an amazing selection of shops, luxury brands, cafés and restaurants. The attention to detail throughout the building is incredible, and the whole place feels elegant and exciting from the moment you walk in. The views from the rooftop are the real highlight — absolutely spectacular, with an incredible panorama across Paris and some unforgettable views of the Eiffel Tower. A definite must-visit when in Paris. Even if you’re not planning to shop, it’s worth visiting simply to take in the architecture, atmosphere and views. One of the highlights of our weekend in Paris!
PMT 976★★★★★
Iconic Paris department store famous for its stunning Art Nouveau dome and luxurious shopping atmosphere. A must-visit destination for fashion, beauty, accessories, and gourmet products, with an impressive selection of international and French brands. The rooftop terrace also offers beautiful panoramic views over Paris. Busy and touristy at times, but still a classic Paris shopping experience.
Esther B★★★★☆
Amazing place with an added rooftop where you can have a nice view of the eiffel for free. The inside of the gallery itself with its dome is in itself impressive. The interior decor concept is changed from time to time, so you could be in for a pleasant surprise if you visit it after sometime. Definitely recommended to check out if you have sometime in Paris or just to go for shopping as well. It however tends to be crowded most of the time.

This is a gem of a place with very special niche shops that you would struggle to find in other shopping areas. It’s a lovely passage to wander through with lovely mosaics and light that will have you pulling out your cameras. I stayed a lot longer than planned just to browse the shops and enjoy the ambiance
Joanne Sunde★★★★☆
Lovely shops of new and reuseable items. Be prepared for higher pricetags on the clothing for example but lots of original pieces for the person who is looking for something of nicer quality and special. I had the impression it would be bigger and have more variety but we were able to browse through rather quickly. We did buy some beautiful original prints as special gifts for loved ones and a few other items. Worth a look if you are able to go in the area.
Fethi AKSOY★★★★☆
If you r looking for a peaceful spot in Paris, this beautiful covered passage is a great choice. Itsmuch quieter than the main streets, so you can just take your time and stroll around. The architecture is gorgeous, with amazing floor mosaics and a classic glass ceiling that lets in lovely natural light. Inside, you ll find plenty of cute unique shops everything from rare old books and vintage clothes to lovely little tea rooms.
pps from land of smiles★★★★★
The architecture stole the show! The renovation by Tadao Ando is stunning, that smooth concrete cylinder inside the historic rotunda creates such a calm, almost spiritual atmosphere. The light coming through the dome makes everything feel grand but minimal at the same time. The contemporary exhibitions are bold and well curated, but for me, the real highlight was how the art interacts with the space. Even if you’re not deeply into contemporary art, the building alone is worth the visit.

Galerie Vivienne is definitely worth a visit. It has many charming boutiques and unique shops, and you’re likely to find something special to buy.

Le Bon Marché has this really specific energy that’s hard to explain until you’re actually inside it. It’s luxury, but not loud about it. Everything feels calm, spacious, and really thoughtfully curated—almost like you’re walking through an elegant gallery where you just happen to be able to shop. What I like most is that it doesn’t feel overwhelming the way some department stores in Paris can. It’s modern in how everything is laid out—clean, minimal, very edited—but you still feel the history in it at the same time. Nothing feels rushed or overly trendy. You can move from fashion to beauty to home without it ever feeling chaotic, and then downstairs at La Grande Épicerie it turns into a whole other experience—beautiful food, everything perfectly packaged, very “Parisian lifestyle” in the most effortless way. And then there are these little corners that make it feel even more special. The paper store is a dream if you love stationery or design—everything is so intentional and beautiful it’s hard not to linger. And the bookstore is one of those places you don’t just browse in for a few minutes… you can easily lose hours there without realizing it. It’s really one of those places where you don’t just shop—you slow down, wander, and end up staying longer than you planned.
M B★★★★★
If I had a choice, I would live in this department store. Le Bon Marché is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Every floor feels like a new discovery, with an incredible selection of luxury brands, fashion, beauty products, home décor, gourmet food, and unique items that are difficult to find elsewhere. The atmosphere is elegant, the staff are welcoming and professional, and the shopping experience is second to none. I spent hours exploring and still felt like there was more to see. Whether you’re looking for luxury shopping, gifts, fine food, or simply want to experience one of Paris’s most iconic destinations, Le Bon Marché is an absolute must-visit. Without a doubt, one of my favorite places in Paris.
Winston Khoo★★★★★
What a terrific place to stock up on the best produce that France has to offer. It’s a foodie’s heaven with so many different categories of items to check up. The area is well lead out and there are places to sit and eat if you wish to sample the fare. Pro Tip: good last stop in Paris for gifts when you get home
Olga Martí García★★★★★
An absolute icon of Parisian shopping. Le Bon Marché offers an exquisite selection where you can find absolutely everything! While the prices are undoubtedly steep, the quality of the products and the stunning architecture make it a must-visit. It is luxury at its finest and worth every penny for the curated experience!

Shopping Excursions.. We stopped at this shopping mall after the museum (Musèe de L’orangie); it’s walking distance(15 minutes )from the museum . It was doable. Let’s backtrack, in Paris you will need great walking shoes and all will be fine. There will be a lot of walking; please invest in quality walking shoes. The mall was nice & had different sculptors. & pictures ; it’s part of the Louvre after all. There’s also a metro station in the mall & ticket holders can enter through the mall entrance for the Louvre & avoid that long line outside. Air conditioning was working too. The only downside is the bathroom situation; you have to pay to use the bathroom. That’s crazy because we bought stuff from different places in the mall.. Unless I am coming to the museum, I would do to a different mall where I don’t have to pay for the bathroom.

Today I was looking for a phone charging station and was told there was one in the underground shopping area here, so I went downstairs where the shops are. I could not see the charging machine, so I asked a staff member wearing a yellow guide vest where I could find it. At first he did not understand me, so I pointed to my phone and explained that I was looking for a charger. He then pulled a very unpleasant face and, in poor English, said there was absolutely nothing like that here before walking away. I found this upsetting. As a porter working here, I do not understand how he could not know. It seemed more likely that he did know, but could not be bothered to help and simply dismissed me without any sense of responsibility. Less than a minute later, I found the charging station right next to the information desk. That made the situation even worse. If he works here, it is difficult to believe he did not know it was there, so why did he say otherwise? I then sat down for an hour while charging my phone, and I saw the same staff member again — silver glasses, very short white hair, and a white beard — going up the escalator with an angry expression, looking irritated and as though everything was a burden. Seeing that made me think how disappointing it is that someone can be paid to work in a public-facing role while showing so little responsibility and offering no help to visitors, instead making their experience unpleasant. I believe the relevant managers should be aware of this behaviour.

Visiting Carrousel du Louvre was one of those experiences that surprised me in the best way. I initially stopped by just to take a quick look, but I ended up spending much longer wandering through the shops and soaking in the atmosphere. Standing near the inverted pyramid felt special, and I loved how the space combined modern design with the history and grandeur of the Louvre above. Looking back, it's a place I still think about when I remember my trip to Paris.

More Than Just a Mall – It's Underground Paris! ✨ Caption: Hidden beneath the Louvre Museum lies a surprising shopping and cultural space you might otherwise miss. The Carrousel du Louvre is an underground shopping gallery that opened in 1993, designed to manage museum crowds while creating something completely unique . ⭐ The Main Attraction: The Inverted Pyramid The centerpiece is I.M. Pei's Pyramide Inversée – a 30-ton glass skylight suspended upside-down from the ceiling . At night, spotlights illuminate the 13.3-meter frame, creating a truly magical effect . Below it sits a small stone pyramid, their tips almost touching . Fun fact: This spot plays a key role in Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code! 📍 Practical Info · Main Entrance: 99 rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris · Metro: Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre (Lines 1 & 7) · Opening Hours: Monday–Sunday 10:00–19:00 (Tuesday: 11:00–18:00, Wednesday/Friday: 10:00–20:00) · Access: Free entry, fully wheelchair accessible with lifts 🛒 What You'll Find Inside · 9 restaurants for a meal break after museum visits · French luxury gift and accessory boutiques · Free Wi-Fi, tax refund service, toilets, and baby area · Information desk (note: they do NOT sell Louvre tickets) 📸 Best Photo Spot Stand directly beneath the Inverted Pyramid for a dramatic upward shot – the suspended glass creates a stunning composition that surprises most visitors . 🚶 How to Get There Pedestrian access from Rue de Rivoli, from the Louvre Museum exit near the Place de la Pyramide Inversée, or via stairs from the Tuileries Garden near the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel .

Shops were good but the experience with the reception was very very poor on 28 May 26. The official hours are till 7pm but when we asked the staff, she mentioned it was till 630pm. We rushed our shopping and got back to the counter at 6.05pm but it was left empty for a good 30minutes before the staff returned without any apology at all. Very disappointing wait and I hope the management deals with this accordingly.

Bercy Village is a cute little open-air spot, but it’s definitely on the smaller side. If you're looking to shop, the options are pretty limited and honestly weren't really my favorite style of stores. That said, it’s a totally different story for food. There are plenty of great restaurants packed in there, making it a solid spot to grab a bite or sit down for dinner. Perfect for a casual meal or a stroll, just temper your expectations if you're going strictly to shop.

Really nice place to go for shopping and eating. Has a range of Japanese, Korean, Indian restaurants and fast food outlets. Also has clothes and and electrical shops too. I would recommend Karoi Japanese restaurant as they do delicious food and had a great time there.

Very cool outdoor dining and shopping area. It's adjacent to Bercy park which can get crowded on weekends.

I have visited Bercy Village several times, and every visit has been a really good experience. The atmosphere there is calm, beautiful, and perfect for relaxing after a busy day. I especially like the cobblestone streets, the lighting in the evening, and the combination of restaurants, cafés, and shops. It’s one of those places in Paris where you can simply walk around peacefully and enjoy the vibe. The area feels clean, organized, and less crowded compared to many tourist spots in the city. Whether it’s for food, coffee, or just spending time with friends and family, Bercy Village is always a nice place to visit.

The ideal spot for a free panoramic view of Paris! It is located right on the rooftop of this wonderful shopping mall. The mall itself is fantastic and houses all the luxury brands you could possibly look for. It is the perfect place to enjoy some high-end shopping and then head up to take in a breathtaking, cost-free view of the city. Highly recommended!

My wife and I visited the rooftop terrace of Galeries Lafayette during our vacation in Paris, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. This incredible space offers a spectacular panoramic view of the entire Parisian urban skyline, and we were thrilled to get a wonderful, clear view of the iconic Eiffel Tower right from the deck. What makes this rooftop even more special is the brilliant setup, featuring plenty of comfortable deckchairs where you can sit back, relax, and watch major matches and events on a massive LED wall screen. Combined with the excellent refreshment options available, it creates the perfect, vibrant atmosphere to enjoy a drink, soak in the sun, and appreciate the beauty of Paris all at once, making it a highly recommended and unforgettable stop.
D. Data★★★★★
Galeries Lafayette is definitely worth visiting, both for the beautiful architecture and for the unique Paris atmosphere.. There are lots of people, but the place still feels very elegant and iconic, especially with all the luxury stores. One thing I really liked was how smoothly you can walk from one section and store to another. The rooftop viewpoint is also amazing and free! You just need to go all the way up by escalator or elevator. The view over Paris was still absolutely worth it..
Kelly-Tiegan Scott★★★★☆
Paris reveals itself best from above, and this rooftop delivers that perspective without compromise. The journey up is worth mentioning: Galeries Lafayette itself is an architectural masterpiece, with its celebrated Art Nouveau dome and multi-level galleries showcasing meticulous craftsmanship in every detail. The rooftop terrace sits at the summit, easily accessible and clearly signposted. What sets this viewpoint apart is the panoramic sweep across the Parisian skyline, with the Eiffel Tower rising prominently in the frame. The vantage point captures the city's geometry in a way that street-level wandering never reveals. Time your visit for sunset - the light transforms the stone and iron into something transcendent, and there's an undeniable romance to watching the city transition from day to night. Pro tip: grab refreshments before ascending. The terrace allows you to settle in with drinks and snacks, which elevates the experience from quick photo-stop to a proper moment of appreciation. Yes, it's popular with visitors and content creators, but the views justify the crowds. The space is generous enough that it never feels claustrophobic, and the spectacle overhead makes it easy to forget the phones pointed skyward. For anyone seeking commanding views of Paris without the queues or admission fees of more famous observation points, this rooftop terrace offers exceptional value and atmosphere.

Typical of the contemporary shopping center-transit hub combo: Have a place you know people will have waiting time, provide extremely limited free seating, and surround the walkways with high-end retail. All that's missing is a casino. Turnover for sparse seating in food places is so high they don't bother cleaning, so wait, food on hand, to compete for a filthy table while other people's crumbs on the chairs and floor stick to your clothing and shoes. If you came with an appetite, you're likely to lose it. Natural light in main-hall atrium is nice, and signage to tracks is good.

Simply amazing transport hub. These security officers look like they are characters in a movie. They look so very much fit and muscular, well-armed and their presence is quite intimidating at first but makes one feel safe moving about here.

Tucked away in the heart of Paris, Passage des Panoramas is one of those places that feels like stepping into another era. As one of the city’s oldest covered arcades, it blends historic charm with a lively, modern vibe. The first thing you notice is the atmosphere—glass ceilings, narrow walkways, and vintage shopfronts that give it a distinctly 19th-century feel. It’s not overly polished, which actually adds to its authenticity. You’ll find a mix of quirky boutiques, stamp collectors, coin dealers, and small specialty shops that you wouldn’t typically see elsewhere in Paris. Food-wise, the passage is a hidden gem. There are several cozy restaurants offering everything from traditional French cuisine to international flavors. It’s a great spot to escape the busy streets, grab a relaxed meal, and soak in the surroundings. What makes Passage des Panoramas special is its character—it’s not trying to impress, it just naturally does. Whether you’re browsing, eating, or simply passing through, it offers a quiet, charming break from the typical tourist spots. Overall: A must-visit for anyone who appreciates history, unique shopping, and a more intimate side of Paris.

All of these passages in Paris are one better than the other. Slighly less extravagant that its little brother in the opposite side of the road, still increadibly beautiful. Dont miss Stern cafe.
Rae Zyon★★★★☆
Covered walkway that offers a nostalgic journey through the history of the city. As the oldest of the Parisian passages, it retains a magnificent charm with its vintage shopfronts, antique lighting, and intricate glass roof that allows soft natural light to fill the space. This historic gem famously appears in the 1963 film Charade, where Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant navigate its narrow and atmospheric lanes.

We were in Paris in November. First time we went at 6 pm and found a lot of abandoned/ closed stores which left us disappointed. We went the second time to seek shelter from the rain, this time around 9 AM. The place was alive and buzzing with activities. Keep going to connect to passage Vedreau and Jouffrey and each section has its own specialty: philately (stamps), souvenir, restaurant, painting. It was a cool experience
Justine Desgagne★★★★★
Very antique, beautiful stores and overall great experience. It was crowded but it was welcoming with great shops and restaurants. I would not recommend for kids because of the crowded rooms and intense smoking. Although great for pictures and window shopping. I would love to go back.

One of my favourite lunch and coffee spots in the 7eme arrondissement. Great restaurants but more importantly one of the best coffee shops, Certified . I go there very often and definitely recommend.

Hey there! Your store's window lighting is certainly an energy-efficient solution, however it would be a great to help the environment if you could turn off the lights at night. Additionally, leaving them on when the store is closed is not only against the law, but could also lead to a hefty fine. Doing something as simple as switching off the lights could have a positive impact on the environment, and your customers would really appreciate it. What do you think?

This is place which should be visited for sure in Christmas season. The decoration would be very nice. And it's majorly know for its shopping brands. Its a small passage located in the main center. But its famous like most of the tourists visit here for sure for shopping and there is a coffiure for ladies as well. This passage was surrounded by all the branded clothes, watch sotres.

This is a very cute pedestrian walk off of Rue Royale with a restaurant and several stores, like Dior and Chanel. It is a very pleasant area and nice to visit during Christmas thanks to the decorations they put up.

Great area to explore with fresh market items and ready made baked good and other restaurant. Lined with wineries. Specialty goods and food. Just amazing. Visiting from the states I was amazed to see the qualities of fruits and veggies all around. The street is filled with a lot of history. Practical Tips for Shopping in Paris

Navigating the commercial arteries of Paris requires a blend of preparation and spontaneity. While the city is incredibly welcoming, a few insider strategies can dramatically improve your experience, helping you secure better prices, find unique items, and interact with locals more effectively. Keep these recommendations in mind as you plan your retail itinerary.

1). Time your visit strategically

Paris operates on a distinct rhythm, with many small boutiques closing for lunch and often remaining shuttered on Sundays or Mondays. The best time to shop is usually Tuesday through Saturday between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM. If you are visiting during the semi-annual sales periods—known as les soldes in January and July—you can find significant discounts, but be prepared for larger crowds.

2). Always greet and use polite phrases

Etiquette is paramount in French retail culture. Entering a store without acknowledging the staff is considered rude. A cheerful “Bonjour” upon entry and a “Merci, au revoir” when leaving creates a positive atmosphere. Even if you do not speak French fluently, attempting the language shows respect and often results in warmer, more helpful service.

3). Understand the tax refund process

If you are a non-EU resident, you are entitled to a VAT refund (Détaxe) on purchases exceeding a certain amount (usually €100) made in the same store on the same day. Always carry your passport with you when shopping, as the retailer will need it to fill out the necessary paperwork. You can often process the refund at kiosks in major department stores or at the airport before departure.

4). Embrace the concept of the “flâneur.”

While having a list is useful, leave room for wandering. Paris is a city of hidden courtyards and passageways where the best discoveries are often unplanned. Do not be afraid to turn down a quiet side street in the Marais or Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The most memorable purchases are often found in the places you were not looking for.

5). Ask for the “Artisan” option

In many bakeries, chocolate shops, and gourmet food stores, there is a distinction between mass-produced items and those made in-house. Look for the label “Artisan” or simply ask, “C’est fait maison?” (Is it homemade?). This ensures you are taking home the highest quality product, whether it is a baguette, a box of chocolates, or a jar of jam.

The beauty of shopping in Paris lies in the stories behind the goods. A leather bag from a workshop in the Bastille or a vintage silk scarf from a market stall carries a narrative that a mass-produced souvenir simply cannot match. By taking the time to explore these diverse neighborhoods, you are not just acquiring objects; you are collecting pieces of Parisian history and craftsmanship.

As you wander from the opulent department stores to the bustling flea markets, allow yourself to be seduced by the sensory overload. Smell the leather, taste the cheese, and feel the weight of the fabric. This is a city that values quality over quantity, and your shopping experience should reflect that philosophy. Enjoy the hunt, and you will return home with treasures that last a lifetime.
