Just steps from the grand axis of the Champs-Élysées and the Tuileries Garden, Place de la Concorde stands as one of Paris’s most monumental squares. While the obelisk and fountains capture the eye, the surrounding 8th arrondissement hides a world of sensory pleasure that often goes unnoticed by tourists rushing to the Louvre. For those who measure a city by its butter, flour, and sugar, this historic district is a surprisingly rich hunting ground for exceptional baked goods.
The area around the square serves as a bridge between the opulent Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and the elegant streets leading toward the Madeleine. It is a neighborhood where historic institutions rub shoulders with contemporary artisans who are redefining French classics. Whether you are seeking a crisp, buttery croissant for breakfast or an elaborate patisserie for an afternoon indulgence, the streets radiating from the obelisk offer a diverse range of options to satisfy every craving.
We have walked these Haussmannian boulevards and narrow side streets to curate a list of the most memorable spots. This selection focuses not just on visual beauty, but on the quality of ingredients, the mastery of lamination, and the balance of flavors that define true French baking. You will find a mix of celebrated pastry chefs and quiet neighborhood boulangeries that have perfected their craft over decades.
Because this is a high-traffic tourist zone, it is easy to fall into a tourist trap with dry pastries and inflated prices. Our guide is designed to steer you toward the authentic experiences where locals actually line up in the morning. We have prioritized establishments within a comfortable walking distance, allowing you to combine your sightseeing with a leisurely tasting tour of the Right Bank.
Each entry on this list has been selected for a specific strength, whether it is a signature dessert, a perfectly scored baguette, or an atmosphere that transports you to a bygone era. From the floral notes of a delicate religieuse to the deep caramelization of a sourdough crust, there is a textural and aromatic journey waiting for you.
To make your exploration easier, we have organized the locations geographically, moving outward from the square toward the Seine and the Madeleine. This allows you to plan a route that maximizes your time and minimizes backtracking. Wear comfortable shoes, bring your appetite, and prepare to discover why Paris remains the global capital of viennoiserie.
Below is our carefully curated selection of the best bakeries and patisseries near Place de la Concorde, each offering a unique taste of Parisian excellence.

I came here early in the morning right when they opened to get some pastries, and it was such a great experience. There were already a lot of locals lined up buying their morning croissants and pain au chocolat, which is always a great sign that you’ve found an authentic neighborhood spot rather than a tourist trap.
Everything I tried was incredible, the pain au chocolat, the suisse, and the croissant were all perfectly buttery, flaky, and fresh. On top of the delicious baked goods, the owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. His warm hospitality truly made my day.

I had a croissant and a pistachio pastry.
The croissant was good, but a little crispier than I expected. The pistachio pastry wasn’t really my favorite. It was a bit dry, and I got tired of the flavor halfway through. The quality was definitely there though, it just wasn’t my kind of pastry.
The place was clean and really nice. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, the kind of people you’d be happy to see every morning.

Found this delicious place on our last full day. I ate nearly 12 croissants over our 5 day stay in Paris. This was my favorite!! Their baguettes were fantastic as well. I went back the morning we were leaving to get travel snacks.
The gentlemen at the counter was friendly and a delight to chat with both mornings.

Fortunately, we found this gem last Tuesday. We've had a variety of pastries, quichés, sandwiches, coffee and hot chocolate here every day since (except Saturday and Sunday, because they are closed). EVERYTHING is DELICIOUS! The proud couple that owns this place are passionate about their business and know how to make you feel welcome and appreciated. They were gracious enough to give us a tour of where their team of skilled patissiers (pastrie chefs) craftfully prepare all of their AMAZING products. The patissiers welcomed us into their workspace with beautiful smiles and a warm bonjour. Incorporating a vist here as part of our routine has enriched our vacation immensely. We can’t say enough about these KIND people and their OUTSTANDING products. We will miss the experience they've provided when we leave.

Excellent boulangerie! We decided to grab a few bits to go for lunch and walk down to the Tuileries gardens. Superb selection of fresh sandwiches, quiches, etc., along with delightful pastries and other patisserie items. The piece of salmon quiche was the best I had ever tasted. Very friendly staff, good English. Highly recommended!

Open on Easter Monday which is a plus but the Cannelé was such a disappointment… not executed properly and thick and doughy inside. For €2.20 I would expect better

Best fruit tarts in the world city (if not the world). The pastry is not too thick or thin, and it’s perfectly crispy. The cream is not too sweet and is the perfect consistency. This with the generous pile of fruits makes these tarts the best in Paris. They’re a bit pricy, but that’s excusable for how good they are

Good array of savory and sweet snacks to take away or eat in. Great meringue-y tarte citreon. Yes, there was an extra cost to eat-in. That is NOT typical to France, but just about any cafe/restaurant in most large cities and towns in many countries. I was grateful to find something good to eat a 4pm close to my hotel.

Good bread. Fine service. Lots of local favorites but tourists should not expect to be catered to. They are serving their community and don't need your nonsense.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Ladurée, and my recent experience at this particular location was simply amazing. The decor is immaculate, and the service is top-notch, truly stunning. Needless to say, the macarons here are the best in the entire world.
We were fortunate enough to secure a table upstairs without a reservation on a Sunday morning around 11 am (we owe a big thank you to the staff for their exceptional hospitality). However, I strongly recommend making a reservation in advance.
Many thanks for the experience, we’ll be back.

You can go to different branches of Laduree in Paris, obviously in any important arro or sometimes neighbourhood you can find one, rhe flagship tea house located in champe elysee is now the edge of its locations.
BUT, there is a big but!
If you want to go to a laduree place that takes you back to its history for sure one of is this one!
Very nice ambience, welcome host, handling of reservation, table allocation, service all are top and long lived here besides the marvelous pastry choices which are signatures of Laduree.
Enjoy here having a great service and quality as an uncompromisable peinciple.

My visit to Ladurée Royale was truly a wonderful experience and absolutely deserves 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When we arrived, it had just started raining and there was a small queue, and we didn’t have a reservation. Despite that, everything moved surprisingly fast and smoothly—we were seated almost immediately at a beautiful and cozy table, which made the whole experience even more special.
The atmosphere is stunning—elegant, refined, and incredibly charming. The hot chocolate exceeded all my expectations—rich, velvety, and unforgettable. And the macarons… simply magical.
This has become one of my favorite places in Paris.
Merci beaucoup!

We had breakfast at Ladurée and it was a really nice experience. The macarons were delicious, and the service was great. The only small downside was that the toast was a bit burnt, but everything else was good. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant. I’d definitely recommend it.

I went to have lunch with my mom , food wasn’t good like before , even the waiter changed for us but french fries still not good as we had before , so disappointed and after lunch we wanted to buy something to take away at downstair , one staff she is white she was so arrogant to my mom , she should treat customer better , not even one smile to us, she was so arrogant, but when she talked to her colleagues she even laugh , but with us she was so moody . Service mind she should has . My mom was so disappointed. Don’t want to believe this was our favorite restaurant. Maybe this’s the last time for our family .

I visited Du Pain et des Idées, and this bakery holds a special place in my heart. Every bread and pastry I tried was outstanding, and during my stay in Paris, I found myself coming back almost every day. The smell of freshly baked bread fills the shop, creating a wonderful atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Whether you choose a simple loaf or one of their famous pastries, the quality is consistently excellent. For me, this bakery became one of the highlights of my time in Paris, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Beautiful spot but average pastries now. I remember loving this but now with heightened standards it is just ok. Specifically the croissant has less air than I remember and crumbles more. The chasson aux pommes was weird too, with a film over the apple. So yes the dough is good but the rest is nah.

Been coming here since years. The place will always be very special to me as it reminds me of my first trip to Paris with my late father. The aroma, the taste of slowly and perfectly baked Croissants and other breads and the warmth of the team has stayed the same, if not better. It's every bite worth the hype. Every time, I come to Paris, a visit to Du Painet des Idées is a must. And, I am never disappointed. It's not only a bakery or a 'touristy' spot: it is the true essence of Paris - a feeling of pure joy.
The staff is very friendly, service is outstanding and interior is authentic Parisian. Absolutely love their powder blue packaging, so much like the clear skies on a quiet afternoon. Paris is dotted with some of the best bakeries in the world, and while I have travelled to many countries and tried Croissants and patisseries world over, the doors of Du Pain et des Idées will always be like coming home.
Flan Boulanger,Mouna Au Sucre,Escargot Aux Pralines,Escargot Pistache Chocolat are all great choices with amazing taste. However, their classic Croissant is my all time favourite.
Paulina Chow-White★★★★☆
I was sent here by Claude - and other lists claiming it’s one of the best in Paris. The bakery did not disappoint, I had the Suiss and it was crispy and gooey in all the right places. I wished they served iced coffees here, it was 35 degrees plus when I went. But they were kind enough to direct me ‘next door’ which had a FANTASTIC iced latte. There were lots of goodies here, will try to return.
Yury Berson★★☆☆☆
We stopped by Boulangerie Du Pain et Des Idées after seeing it recommended online. We tried the pistachio chocolate escargot and a croissant with chocolate and banana.
The pastries were solid and well made, but the pricing was honestly shocking. Easily double what we’ve paid at equally good or better bakeries across Paris, and we’ve been here many times over the years.
Nothing we had was bad, but there was a clear “tourist tax” at play for a place that has gone viral. In a city full of excellent boulangeries, it’s hard to justify going out of your way for pastries that are comparable to many others at half the price (or less).
If you happen to be nearby and are curious, fine. But for visitors planning a special stop, there are countless neighborhood bakeries that deliver just as much quality, if not more, without the premium pricing and are much closer to where most people are staying.
Look for a boulangerie without a long tourist line and everybody speaking anything but French. There you have a making of a local, non “touristy” bakery. This was not it.
Update: having gone to other, closeby bakeries, I realize how outrageously overpriced these were, even compared to similar bakeries. Definitely go somewhere else.

I recently visited Pierre Hermé Paris and was truly impressed. The boutique itself is elegant, and the display of macarons is almost too beautiful to eat.
The experience was made even better by the wonderful service. A staff member named Vladimir assisted me, and he was fantastic — welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the different flavours, helped me put together a varied selection.
Yes, the macarons are on the pricier side, but the quality, presentation, and service make it worth it. If you’re looking for a luxurious treat or a memorable gift, I highly recommend Pierre Hermé Paris — and if you’re lucky, you’ll be helped by Vladimir!
The Sage Page★★★★★
Pierre Hermé was amazing. They had a variety of flavors and options. I got the rose, lychee, raspberry ice cream and it was some of the best I have had. The portion size also made sense. The macaroons were also great. The woman who helped us spoke English, in addition to french, which made it easier for us to order. It was also air-conditioned, which was great for the hot day. The one downside is that there is not a place to sit inside or outside meaning the best option is to go sit at the Jardin du Tuileries if you want to sit in the shade. Overall I recommend Pierre Hermé and may go back during my trip!

Great variety of macron and a selection of chocolates to choose from , great service to foreigners, welcoming and friendly but most important of all . The ice cream was soooooo amazing
While many people come here for the chocolates and macarons, I truly think their ice cream deserves much more attention and recognition
you will know why it costs €8 for a small cup after the first bite , intensely flavorful, rich, and unforgettable.

Jardin D'Eden is the most delicious, delicate, yet richly flavored macaron I’ve ever tried. The combination of vanilla and basil is quite unusual to me, but absolutely breathtaking. The young lady who attended to us was exceptionally polite, and we will gladly visit you again.

A place id definitely revisit!
I paired the crookie with an iced latter, and it was such a great start to my day. The iced latter was really good, and the crookie was delicious - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly filling. It was more satisfying than I expected.
Overall, a lovely sweet breakfast treat.

Wonderful experience at Maison Louvard! This family-owned gem is exactly what you want in a bakery and café. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive — they made you feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
The food was excellent. Everything was fresh and flavourful, and you can tell real care goes into every item. The bakery display is absolutely beautiful — all the pastries look amazing — but the Cross Sant cookie stole the show. It's genuinely the best I've had. The perfect balance of texture and taste.
What impressed me most was how the family clearly runs this place with pride. That dedication shows in every detail. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area. Highly recommended!

I visited the Maison Louvard Boulangerie on a Saturday around 8:15 AM. The boulangerie wasn't busy and we got the crookie (cookie croissant) and a pastry called "Le Tourbillon," which was filled with peaches. You can take away or eat the pastries there, but the price is higher if you eat there. The crookie lives up to the hype. The croissant was extremely crispy and flakey and the cookie filling was gooey like a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. The "Le Tourbillon" pastry is similar to a cruffin shape and was filled with peaches (and maybe a custard). It was also excellent and the peaches were so delicious. The boulangerie was definitely worth the stop. I would recommend and will totally come back the next time I'm in Paris. Note the boulangerie is not open on Sundays.
Ahmed Kradi★★☆☆☆
Maison Louvard is honestly all style and very little substance. The space itself is well designed—modern, visually pleasing, with nice furniture and lighting that make it feel trendy and Instagram-ready. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
We went specifically to try their famous “krookie,” and it was moderate at best. It wasn’t warm and tasted like it had been sitting out overnight, which was especially disappointing considering we visited in the morning. That alone was surprising, but even more so because nearly everywhere else we’ve eaten in France has been exceptional—this place stood out, and not in a good way.
The worst part of the experience was the service. The black male server was openly rude and clearly in need of customer service and hospitality training. He became visibly upset when I was taking pictures and proceeded to shoo me away, which is completely unacceptable in any culture. I also witnessed him get angry with an older woman simply for asking a question. It was uncomfortable to watch and made the environment feel unwelcoming.
To make matters worse, it was very clear that tourists are not appreciated here. The woman behind the counter was also rude when asked a question in English, reinforcing the feeling that unless you’re French, you’re an inconvenience. That kind of attitude leaves a lasting negative impression, no matter how nice the decor is.
Vibes: 4/5
Food: 2/5
Service: 1/5
Paris has so much incredible food and so many welcoming cafés. Save your time (and money) and go literally anywhere else—this spot is not worth it.

Came here during my trip to try the viral cookie croissant and they are viral for a reason! One of my favorite sweet treats of all time. Cooked the perfection and delicious. The croissant it’s a oerfrct mixture of fluffy and crispy. The buttery croissant mixed with rich chocolate chip cookies is a 10/10. Can’t wait to come back to Paris and get this again.

Very busy but the queues were moving quickly. There is no place to sit so its all take away. Delicious pastries with a lot of variety. We had a pistachio éclairs & a plain butter croissant for only 4.5£! Eclair was full of fresh, mildly sweet cream that tasted indulgent & pistachio-y. & the croissant was so light and flaky. Absolute bangers!

Wow. This place is still drawing a queue for the croissant award it won back in 2018... eight years ago! Is it still worth the hype? My answer is a definite yes.
Keeping both the quality and the volume this consistent for so many years is no small feat. People simply wouldn't still be lining up if the croissants weren't exceptional. And let's be honest, there have been eight other winners since then, so it's not as if there aren't alternatives.
I was there at about 9.00 am. There was a short queue and it moved surprisingly quickly. They've had years to perfect the system, and it shows. Don't let the line put you off. You won't be waiting long.
I don't really understand the complaints about the lack of seating or atmosphere. It's next to a metro entrance and a market. It's a working bakery, people!
Do what the French do. Grab your croissant, pick up a coffee nearby, then wander to the nearest park or along the river and mindfully enjoy one of the best croissants you'll ever eat. Bonus points for doing it without an influencer photo shoot in sight (looking at you, La Carette!).
The croissants are handmade and baked throughout the day, so there's a good chance yours has come straight from the oven. Eat it immediately. Don't save it for later. This is one of those moments that's worth enjoying exactly as intended -- straight black and white paper bag.
And at just €1.20? That's Parisian public service if you ask me.
I'd happily line up again.
TIP: Find 'Square Danielle Mitterrand' a tiny gated public-garden where you can eat your croissant in. Less than a 10min walk away. Do some google research on this wife of former French President François Mitterrand. She was a liaison officer in the French Resistance.

Went here due to tons of reviews saying this is the best place to grab a Croissant and it did a good job 🤓. The Croissant and Pain au Chocolate is crispy, freshly baked and buttery. It doesn't sugary like the one i had in Germany and that shocked me. The "real" Croissant is what my French friend told me about this place and the prices are very reasonable. 🥖
There was a staff also helping people getting the cake first when there is a long line. Perfect help👍🏻
However the baguette was a bit cold when i bought it, i couldn't feel the taste that i was hoping for and really hard to eat 🥲
But overall it still worth it.

I’m visiting from Iran, where we have a long and rich tradition of both classic and modern pastries, so I naturally had high expectations. I had actually been following this place on Instagram for years and was really looking forward to finally trying something that would truly wow me and offer a unique flavor experience.
Unfortunately, the pastry I tried was extremely low in sweetness and, for me, lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting. I understand that this may be a great option for people who prefer very low-sugar desserts or need to limit their sugar intake.
However, considering the long queue and paying €16 for this pastry, I personally didn’t find it worth the price or the wait, and I wouldn’t recommend it to someone looking for a memorable dessert experience.
K★★★☆☆
The exterior presentation of both the yuzu and mango pastries was beautiful and very well done. The mango pastry had nice chunks of mango inside, while the yuzu one had a bold citrus flavour.
That said, I personally found the yuzu a little too tart and the texture slightly too thick for my preference. While the pastries are visually impressive, at 18 euros each and with the queue involved, I’m not sure I personally found them worth the wait and steep price point.
Кристина Орлова★★★★★
We ordered Blueberry and Pecan for click & collect and enjoyed it. Service, presentation, flavour. It wasn't too sweet, but that's actually a good thing.
In reviews someone says that it's "cloying", but they probably shouldn't order 4 desserts for one person 😅 Just 1-2 would be enough.
The same goes for "nothing surprising". If you want to be surprised, you should definitely order something unique like "popcorn pot" and not basic flavour like "apple" or something. Otherwise you will get what you expect, but that's also not a bad thing.
I was pleasantly surprised by Pecan flavour and my husband enjoyed his Blueberry ☺️ Actually, we tried every Cedric Grolet's place in Paris in one weekend, and we're going to return.
Miled Nakhel★★★★★
Tried four of the famous trompe-l’œil pastries: Pot de Pop Corn, Mangue, Pomme Verte, and Pot de Chouchou. The Pot de Pop Corn was my clear favorite, its depth of flavor was unmatched, perfectly balanced with a subtle salty sweetness. The Mangue, though beautifully presented and hyped online, wasn’t my top pick but was still very good. The Pomme Verte was excellent, tasting remarkably like a real apple with an impressive texture, and the Pot de Chouchou offered a more straightforward flavor profile but was enjoyable nonetheless.
We waited about an hour in line on a Saturday afternoon, but the staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and organized, making the experience pleasant.
At €86 for four pastries, it’s definitely a splurge, but everything was crafted to perfection, and you truly get what you pay for. A must-try for pastry enthusiasts seeking an elevated, one-of-a-kind experience.

I visited Cédric Grolet's patisserie after seeing his creations on Instagram. I was amazed by the aesthetics of his desserts and decided to try the Raspberry and the Peach. I could have ordered online, but I chose not to, hoping for a wider selection in the shop. I arrived 5 minutes before opening and waited in line for 10 minutes, which was perfectly acceptable given the hype.
At €18 per dessert, the price is certainly steep compared to other popular patisseries, so my expectations were very high. Unfortunately, they were not met. While I have no complaints about the service, a minor inconvenience was the lack of a fork or spoon; since these are takeaway desserts, I believe cutlery should be provided by default (or perhaps it was simply forgotten in my bag).
As for the taste, to be honest, the Raspberry felt like water. I couldn't really taste the outer shell, and the mascarpone cream was extremely watery. Inside, there was a raspberry ganache that tasted like frozen jam—it was sour and lacked sweetness. I would rate it a 4/10.
The Peach was significantly better, but still not a 'wow' experience. I'd give it a 7/10, mostly thanks to the filling.
Overall, it’s worth trying once for the experience, but unfortunately, I have no desire to return. It’s simply not worth the money. While they are visually stunning, desserts should also be delicious. Thank you.

I just bought this around 5pm today, and I open this was around 8-9pm. One bite I was so happy to have this but then I saw something on the fruit… it was rotten…
Here has very good breads. I came already 3 times during my stay in Paris.
I love here they have very good bread. And I know they bake fresh bread but in summer time please beware of temperature. Care more for storage. So sad about this tart… it was looking so good……

This was the first place I tried when I went to Paris and thought wow, we are in for an amazing trip of food.
But I quickly found out how good this bakery is compared to the rest!
Would highly recommend 💪
Only downside is the seating is limited so you may need to takeaway, but definitely still worth it.

I ate my absolute favorite pastry ever at this place the brioche de Caramel. Filled with a delicious caramel cream, lots of filling. The girl that served me recommended the bread and she was right, she was friendly and spoke multiple languages. 5/5

We are an Italian couple who love breakfast. We have tried several bakeries and we fully agree that this is the best in terms of quality and price. The only downside is that it is a bit cramped.
It was closed this morning, so we went to another one that we won't name, and I can tell you that we all need this boulangerie because it is clearly superior in terms of quality and delicate flavors. I am critical, but this time, whenever I think of an excellent breakfast, they come to mind.
With love from Italy,

Tips for Your Bakery Tour
Navigating the Parisian bakery scene requires a bit of local knowledge to ensure you get the freshest products and the most authentic experience. While the quality in this district is generally high, understanding the rhythm of the day and the terminology can elevate your visit from good to exceptional. Here are a few practical tips to help you make the most of your pastry exploration near Place de la Concorde.
Go early or go late. Bakeries bake in cycles throughout the day, but the morning rush offers the widest selection of viennoiserie like croissants and pain au chocolat. If you are looking for bread, aim for the late afternoon when the second bake of baguettes often comes out of the oven, still warm and crackling.
Ask for "bien cuite." If you prefer a deeper flavor and a darker, crispier crust on your baguette, ask for one that is "bien cuite" (well-baked). Conversely, if you prefer a softer, paler crust, ask for "pas trop cuite." This simple phrase signals to the baker that you know your bread and ensures you get exactly the texture you desire.
Prioritize "Artisan Boulanger" signs. Look for the official "Boulanger de France" or "Artisan Boulanger" signs in the window. This certification means the bread is kneaded, shaped, and baked on the premises, not simply brought in frozen from an industrial factory. It is the easiest way to guarantee authenticity and quality.
Respect the queue and the staff. Parisian bakeries are efficient but formal spaces. Have your order ready before you reach the counter, greet the staff with a polite "Bonjour" upon entering, and avoid touching the pastries with your hands. This respect goes a long way and is part of the cultural experience.
Plan for a picnic or a pause. Many of these pastries are best enjoyed immediately, but if you want to sit down, the Tuileries Garden is just steps away. Grab a box of assorted desserts and find a green chair by the fountain for an impromptu tasting with a view of the Louvre.
The area surrounding Place de la Concorde is a testament to the enduring legacy of French gastronomy. While the monuments speak to the nation’s history, the bakeries speak to its daily rituals and relentless pursuit of perfection. Taking the time to wander these streets with a paper bag in hand offers a deeper connection to the city than any guidebook can provide.
Whether you choose a complex, multi-layered dessert from a celebrated chef or a simple, rustic loaf from a corner boulangerie, you are participating in a tradition that has been refined over centuries. Let your palate guide you, and you will find that the best memories of Paris are often the ones you can taste.
