Stepping out of the grand halls of the Louvre can leave you with a profound appreciation for art, but also a very real need for a comfortable chair and a strong espresso. After navigating the miles of corridors and battling the crowds around the Mona Lisa, finding a sanctuary to rest your feet is essential. The immediate area surrounding the museum is packed with dining options, but not all of them are created equal.
The key to a successful coffee break near the Palais Royal is knowing where to look. While tourist traps with inflated prices lurk on the main thoroughfares, authentic Parisian gems are hidden in the side streets and arcades. Whether you are looking for a quick takeaway or a leisurely sit-down experience, the neighborhood offers a diverse range of atmospheres.
From historic literary haunts to modern specialty roasters, the landscape of cafés here is incredibly varied. You can sip a noisette in a gilded Belle Époque setting or enjoy a flat white in a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired space. The choice depends entirely on the vibe you are chasing after your cultural immersion.
For those who appreciate history, the area boasts some of the oldest and most storied cafés in the city. These establishments have served artists, writers, and revolutionaries for centuries. Sitting in one of these venues allows you to absorb the intellectual energy that has defined the Left and Right Banks for generations.
Conversely, the modern coffee movement has firmly planted its flag here. You will find baristas focused on latte art, single-origin beans, and precise brewing methods. These spots are perfect for purists who prioritize the quality of the bean over the grandeur of the décor.
To help you navigate the overwhelming choices, we have curated a list of the best spots to recharge. This guide balances historic prestige with modern quality, ensuring you find the perfect cup. We have considered location, atmosphere, and the quality of both food and drink.
Here is our selection of the top venues where you can relax and refuel without venturing too far from the museum’s iconic pyramid.

Café Le Louvre is a fantastic place to enjoy a meal or a coffee in the heart of Paris. The location is excellent, with a classic Parisian atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. The food is fresh and delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the service is warm, attentive, and professional. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or just a relaxing drink, it's a wonderful spot to experience the charm of Paris. Highly recommended.

The food was very good, and both the exterior and interior of the cafe was nice and clean. Staff was nice and welcoming. Price is a little high, but very good food. There was menu for lunch set too

Today I tried Café de Louve and it was fantastic. As a solo traveler, I was a bit nervous dining alone, but the staff greeted me warmly as soon as I arrived. I was seated right away, given time to choose from the quaint menu, and my food arrived quickly and tasted delicious.
The staff were friendly and well-spoken, and the prices were amazing considering the café is so close to the Louvre. I ordered the Petit-Déj Plus (photo included), which also came with a butter croissant. Everything was fresh, tasty, and generously portioned. I’d definitely recommend this spot.

Great dining experience at Café du Louvre! The salmon was perfectly cooked, the onion soup was rich and flavorful, and the ravioli pasta was absolutely delicious. The food quality was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely.

We stopped in for a drink, and sat out the front. Perfect spot to sit and soak in the atmosphere. Lovely staff - really good interaction with a young male server who encouraged us to try the XXL snails, and was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend.

We were absolutely delighted with our evening at Le Marly. We had booked a table in the row closer to the Louvre courtyard. However, when we were seated, we were given a table next to a service station for the waiters, which partially blocked our view of the pyramid.
I politely asked whether it would be possible to move us if a table with a full view of the pyramid became available. The hostess was incredibly kind and, with a smile, did everything she could to make it happen. Within just five minutes, another table became free, and as soon as it was cleared, she moved us there.
That thoughtful gesture truly made our evening, especially because we were celebrating an important occasion. The magical lights of the Louvre added an extra touch of magic to the whole atmosphere.
I would also like to highlight the excellent service. The waiters speak English fluently, are attentive, and are happy to help with choosing dishes. By the way, the cheesecake is absolutely incredible, and we also really enjoyed the salmon gravlax starter.
At one point, someone at a nearby table started smoking a cigar. I asked a waiter who was not even serving our table if something could be done, and he immediately handled the situation by asking the guest to stop, as cigars are not allowed. His quick response allowed us to fully enjoy the dishes we had ordered without the smoke disturbing us.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Café Le Marly and left extremely satisfied. ✨💌😻.

The atmosphere, food and services is great! The tables on the outside are a little small. We did not reserve a table tho that might be why. All in all we had a great experience to eat next to the Louvre and we could also see the Eiffel Tower from our table. ✨✨🍽️ We had one main course per person, water, homemade Ice tea and a glass of wine. Very delicious

Le Café Marly offers a wonderful dining experience in one of the best locations in Paris. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive, making you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. The view overlooking the Louvre is absolutely stunning and adds something special to the meal. The food is delicious, with every dish beautifully presented and full of flavor. Considering the location and overall experience, the prices are very reasonable. A perfect place to enjoy great food with an unforgettable view. Highly recommended!

This might just be my favorite meal in the entire world. As someone who is well-traveled, I don't give that honor lightly. I've gone out of my way to make a day trip into Paris from other European countries just to eat this meal: A caesar salad to start, the roasted scallops for the main course, and a crème brûlée for dessert. The food is simple, delicious, and technically flawless. 10/10
Foodie Adventurer★★★★☆
Overall, we had a fine experience. The service was good, and the staff were polite and attentive throughout our meal. One small downside was that heavy silverware was dropped onto the wooden floor several times during service. The loud clatter was quite startling and made the atmosphere feel a bit stressful at moments.
The hot chocolate is every bit as good as the reviews say and was the perfect sugar boost after six hours of walking through the Louvre. A word of warning: it’s incredibly rich and decadent without being overly sweet. We shared one order, and it was the perfect amount for the two of us.
As for the food, the orecchiette with Bolognese was the highlight of the meal. It was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I’d happily order it again.
The Caesar salad, however, was disappointing. The meat on top looked unusual and was difficult to identify. It didn’t taste or resemble either chicken or anchovies, leaving us unsure of what we were eating and making the dish feel off. Unfortunately, it’s not something I would recommend.

Great food, with quick friendly service. All the food and drink we ordered here were very good.
The Crazy BeneAddict was delicious with perfectly poached eggs and sauce, with a fresh and flakey crossiant that paired really well with everything. The Miss Tatin French toast was sweet and savoury but maybe a bit too heavy for an early morning breakfast dish.
The yogurt and macchiato were also done really well, and the ice tea was delicious.
Just a note that their location is undergoing renovation until mid Aug 2026 so they have temporarily relocated to another spot just across street and slightly further north. This location is comfortably sized with nice decor.

I had breakfast here every morning during my stay in Paris, and it quickly became one of the highlights of my trip. The bread was always fresh, the muffins were served warm, and everything was absolutely delicious.
It’s such a pretty place, with a lovely, welcoming atmosphere that made each morning feel special. The perfect way to start the day in Paris.
Travel Bites★★★★☆
Lovely breakfast spot in Paris with plenty of healthy, vegetarian and gluten-free options. We tried the avocado toast, greek yogurt with homemade granola, and the crazy beneaddict, everything was really tasty and fresh. The only downside is that the restaurant is very tiny. We were 5 people and had to sit packed next to each other, so we left right after finishing our breakfast.

I visit for breakfast and brunch, very good food
I liked the scrambled egg with mushroom and spinach.
pancake is fluffy and delicious.
Excellent Coffee.
It’s a small place usually full of people. However the waiting time is decent I tried it twice waiting time is less than 10 minutes especially for couples and small groups.

I had a wonderful time at this charming café! The drinks were absolutely delightful—the Hot Chocolate was rich and decadent, and the barista did a stunning job with the latte art. The Americano was hands down the best I've had in days; it was incredibly smooth, with a perfectly balanced flavor that was neither bitter on the palate nor in the aftertaste.
• Crazy BeneAddict 🥐
◦ Description: Thin slices of smoked salmon, 2 poached eggs, and Benedict sauce, garnished with dill.
◦ Review: This was delicious! The combination of flavors was spot on, and the portion was very satisfying for one person.
• The Brouillade 🍳
◦ Description: 3 farm-fresh scrambled eggs, pan-fried halloumi, sautéed spinach & roasted mushrooms, homemade pesto, served with a baguette.
◦ Review: This dish was a winner! The scrambled eggs were incredibly generous (I couldn't finish them all!), and the halloumi added a lovely salty touch. The complimentary baguette was perfect for soaking up the flavors. I would love a bit more bread next time to enjoy every last bite!
I will definitely be coming back for more!

Had a really great experience at Café Palais Royal. We ordered the truffle pasta and the beef tartare with roasted potatoes and eggs, both were excellent. The truffle pasta was rich and perfectly balanced, and the beef tartare was super fresh and high quality.
As someone who follows a fitness lifestyle and prefers eating clean, it’s often hard to find good options when eating out. So I really appreciated that the menu offered something simple, high-quality, and protein-focused without feeling heavy or overly processed. It’s not always easy to stay on track while traveling, but this place made it effortless.
The atmosphere is very Parisian, casual, but the place was very full. The tables are really close together and very small (typical Paris). The overall experience felt relaxed and enjoyable.
Definitely a spot I’d return to when in Paris.

27 years ago on my first trip to Paris I found this little gem of a bistro at 6 am. I went inside and ordered what would be the best croissant I've ever had. 27 years later I returned to Paris with my wife and for our very first stop I had to take her back and share this with her. Nothing has changed, and I was so happy to be there again! This time I ordered breakfast and it was fantastic. And the people there are so incredibly friendly. The food was excellent, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is so quintessentially Paris. We're leaving today but I had to stop in for a to go order and say "Until next time!' to my favorite bistro!

We went for a quick coffee before visiting the Louvre, I ordered a machiato with a little milk, didn't get it. My friend ordered a lemonade, she didn't get it. What we got really wasn't what we ordered and with the prices I feel like we should've gotten better.

It was a truly terrible experience. The first time we went, we waited over 10 minutes to place our order; they completely ignored us. The food was awful, practically empty inside. We waited just as long to pay the bill, which was also exorbitant. I definitely wouldn't recommend going there.

A wow experience to have dinner here.
My niece choosed the restaurant because of the inviting decoration. After looking to the menu we both found food we like. My salmon salad with avocado was extraordinary, the service warm and wonderful. For us it was a perfect ending of a beautiful day in Paris.

Wonderful experience at Café Saint Honoré near the Louvre! 🇫🇷✨
I had an excellent fresh salad 🥗 with warm fried burrata, avocado 🥑, strawberries 🍓, and pine nuts. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and beautifully prepared. The dessert and tea were also wonderful and made the visit especially relaxing. 🍰🍵
The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Even though the location is extremely touristic, right in the epicenter of Paris near the Louvre, the cafe still keeps a warm local atmosphere and authentic cuisine. A very pleasant place to rest, enjoy good food, and experience a kinder side of central Paris. Highly recommended! 😊

Momo , Meryem , and Chef Luciano made our first day in Paris and our first meal here the most delicious and over the top meal and and amazing experience we have ever had! We dined with our 91 year old Yiayia and our 3 kids so every meal is salt free and complicated with many opinions. The Chef came out himself and suggested a salt free meal he created off the menu for our Yiayia. She said she thought she died and went to heaven it was so good! The nicest people we have ever met!! Could not have been more kind and so generous. We were treated with Croquettes and Macaroons on the house and we smiled so much that our cheeks hurt! We can’t wait to come back tomorrow!! 100 out of 10 would recommend!! Thank you all so much!!!❤️

🌸 Café Saint-Honoré – A magical Paris find just off the Louvre ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We stumbled across this place just off the Louvre Museum after a long morning exploring and a bus tour, with tired legs and two hungry kids… and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
✨ First Impressions
From the outside, it almost looks like a bit of a tourist trap with all the flowers, pastel colours, and teddy bears… but don’t let that fool you. Step inside and it transforms into a beautiful, relaxing, and genuinely welcoming space.
🌺 Atmosphere & Decor
Stunning floral ceiling and soft lighting
Subtle background music that helps you unwind
A lovely buzz from other families and diners
Felt like a proper Parisian moment, not rushed at all
There was even a birthday celebration happening next to us, complete with singing, a sparkler, and cake – which looked like it was provided by the restaurant. A really nice touch.
🍽️ Food & Drinks
Everything we ordered was spot on:
🧀 Goat’s cheese salad – fresh and full of flavour
🍗 Chicken dish – really well cooked and satisfying
🥩 Steak & chips – devoured and thoroughly enjoyed
🍺 IPA beer – incredibly refreshing after a warm day walking around Paris
They even let me sample a few beers before choosing, which was a great touch. They also brew their own “Teddy Beer” – not quite to my taste, but a fun option to try.
👨👩👧👦 Family Friendly
This is where it really stood out:
Kids’ meals were around €12 and included main, drink, and dessert
Dessert options included ice cream or a Nutella crepe (huge hit!)
Staff were warm, patient, and great with children
🎁 Little Extras That Made It Special
As we were leaving, they surprised us with four free macarons – a small gesture, but genuinely appreciated (and easily worth close to €10 in Paris!).
🚻 Facilities
Even the toilets were beautifully decorated, especially the ladies’. The men’s setup was a bit unclear (no obvious urinal), but not a deal-breaker in the slightest.
⭐ Final Verdict
A place that looks Instagrammable but delivers far more than that – great food, fair prices, genuinely friendly service, and a relaxed, memorable atmosphere.
If you’re near the Louvre and need a break, this is a fantastic spot for families or couples alike.
Highly recommended – an easy 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great lunch spot with excellent staff. Very English-friendly, welcoming, and accommodating with children, which made ordering easy and comfortable. The smoothie and cappuccino were both excellent. The menu worked well for a mixed lunch, with breakfast options, kid-friendly food, and lighter choices.
The food was fresh and presented nicely. The breakfast plate, fries, and drinks were all solid, and the portions were good. The only small note is that the crepe was a bit tougher than expected, but overall it was still a good meal with strong service and a comfortable atmosphere.
A Girl Who Enjoys To Share★★★☆☆
Too much sweetness in the drinks event though we asked to pay more attention to the quantity of sugar added, the pâtisserie tasted like it was from a week ago. The prices are high for the location near to les tuileries but the food doesn't deserve it.
If there's one thing positive is the café gourmand was not bad after all.
If you like a quite place for a quality time/discussion, that's not the right place for you.

If you’re exploring the heart of Paris and looking for a charming café to relax, Le Carrousel is a wonderful spot to stop by. Tucked conveniently near the city center, it perfectly captures that classic Parisian café atmosphere.
What truly makes this place stand out is the outdoor seating. On sunny days, sitting at one of their tables outside is simply amazing — the ambiance, the light, and the gentle buzz of the city create a beautiful and relaxing experience. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you can just enjoy your coffee while watching life pass by.
The service is friendly, and the overall vibe feels authentic and welcoming. Whether you’re taking a break from sightseeing or meeting friends, Le Carrousel offers a lovely slice of Parisian life.

Arrived by chance Sunday lunchtime, was seating quickly with no waiting.
The place was well staffed with efficient waiters. The place was very busy but that didn't delay any service.
We had the croque monsieur, which was nice if not a bit dry.
Food price is reasonable for location and Paris, I thought the drinks were a bit high.
Overall a good place to stop and eat

Waiter was rude and claimed not to speak or understand English when it suited him. He asked if we wanted the dessert together with main course. We told him to serve after the main course but he brought it in the midst of our main course. When I asked him to bring it later, he said Cest pas possible and made a cross hand action. The cocktail was overly sweet, I had to add water from own water bottle. The cod fish and chips tasted like frozen, hard and dry. The crepe with raspberries, banana & Nutella tasted ordinary.
If not for the nice decor outside, we would not have eaten there! Overpriced for lousy food & service and I refused to tip!

Beautiful Setting but Extremely Poor Service and Slow Experience
Reservation & Arrival:
We visited Caffe Concerto Paris after finishing our tour of the Louvre. Finding a table was easy, and the initial greeting was friendly and professional. Seating was comfortable and well-spaced, offering a good view of the surroundings and a pleasant atmosphere to begin with.
Ambience & Cleanliness:
The restaurant was clean, bright, and beautifully maintained. The lighting and temperature were pleasant, and the interior design matched the elegant café theme well — stylish and refined, making it a charming place to sit and relax after sightseeing.
Service Quality:
Unfortunately, the service was terrible. Staff were inattentive, forgetful, and disorganized. We had to repeat our orders multiple times, and several mistakes occurred before the correct dishes arrived. The service was extremely slow, with long gaps between courses, as if the staff were completely overwhelmed or distracted. There was no sense of coordination, and they seemed indifferent to guests’ time or experience.
Food Presentation & Taste:
The food itself was average overall.
• The grilled chicken was decent but not remarkable.
• The two pasta dishes were also average, lacking any memorable flavor or refinement.
• The desserts, however, stood out — the Paris-Brest was excellent, and the macarons were good, offering a satisfying end to an otherwise frustrating meal. Presentation across all dishes was elegant and polished, even if taste did not match appearance.
Beverage Experience:
The beverage menu was varied enough, and the drinks themselves were fine. However, water and refreshments were served late, and even something as simple as an extra Coke took over 15 minutes to arrive — only after reminding three different waiters. This inconsistency in service made the experience far less enjoyable.
Value & Price:
While the food and ambience justified the pricing, the service completely ruined the experience. There were no billing errors, but given the delays and poor attentiveness, the visit was not worth the cost.
Overall:
Caffe Concerto Paris offers a beautiful setting with good desserts, but the service is extremely poor, making it impossible to recommend. Despite the appealing location and nice presentation, the experience was stressful and disappointing due to slow, careless staff.

You will be missing out if you don’t eat here. The 6 gentlemen work like clockwork, knowing what the other is thinking. Efficient, friendly, small establishment that’s big on taste, value, and team work. The New York sandwich is great sandwich that starts with a nice crunch of the French baguette. The crepes are exceptionally large and loaded, and packed with flavour and freshness. This is a bucket list restaurant for lunch that’s outstanding value. My kids loved the food. You guys are brilliant, thank you.

Happy Café was such a fun stop for us—definitely one we’ll remember!
We ordered two Nutella crepes, a Kinder Bueno crepe, a Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream, and a marshmallow-topped donut, and everything was delicious. The crepes were warm, soft, and generously filled (we clearly couldn’t get enough of the Nutella 😄). The Kinder Bueno crepe was super indulgent and perfect for chocolate lovers, and the Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream was a great combo—rich, creamy, and a little different. The donut topped with marshmallows was also a fun, sweet treat.
But by far, the highlight was the owner. He was absolutely hilarious and created such a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. He made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived, which really made the whole experience stand out.
Great desserts, amazing vibes, and an owner who truly makes the place special—we’d definitely come back!

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re craving a classic chocolate shake or something more indulgent, you won’t be disappointed.
Highly recommended for anyone with a sweet tooth. Bon appétit!

Happy Café definitely lives up to its name. The people here are genuinely kind, friendly, and seem to enjoy what they do. The menu has plenty of great options, and everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. You can really see why it’s called Happy Café. It’s not just the food, it’s the people. We’d happily come back the next time we’re in Paris.
One small thing that really stood out: one of our orders was taking a little longer than expected, and since it was such a hot day, the staff brought us complimentary lemon drinks while we waited to make sure we stayed hydrated. It’s little gestures like that which turn a good meal into a memorable experience.

The only thing - the tables have a ~50cm gap, so you could end up listening to someone's lunch talk against your will.
The desserts were cooked in front of us by a chef. The pasta was fresh and tasty.
Clean tables, friendly and professional service.
Can recommend!

This place is absolutely gorgeous, especially if you can get seats near the window overlooking the Louvre’s iconic glass pyramid.
When we got there, lunch hours had just ended, so we could only get dessert (16–17 euros each) and drinks. We ordered two desserts, a glass of champagne (16 euros per glass), and an orange juice (7.5 euros). I’ll admit that’s higher than I’d pay in Toronto, but the setting, atmosphere, and vacation feel justified the price for me. By the way, I loved both desserts a lot!

Stopped by Angelina Louvre and had a lovely experience! The place has a classic elegant vibe and feels like a perfect little break while exploring the Louvre.
The desserts are absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, and their famous hot chocolate is rich and indulgent. A great spot to relax, recharge, and enjoy a sweet treat in between museum visits. Definitely worth it! 🍫✨

Cafe inside the Louvre. Which makes it makes it expensive. 7 euro for a water and 7,5 for a coffee.
The cappuccino was terrible, more like a bit of foam on a cafe latte.
I would recommend the soft drinks. Or a glass of wine. If you get a table at the window, you have a great view.

The mount blanc dessert was pretty much flavourless and for sure not worth almost 11€. We really enjoyed the hot chocolaté which was not too sweet. We recommend sharing one chocolate pot as it was enough for both of us. The waiter was really welcoming but we waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The cafe closes really early(16:45) and the kitchen closes 30 minutes before that. Even though we entered the cafe at 16:25, we exited at around 17:00, but they stopped letting people in before that and just let us finish our choc. The interior was really enjoyable, but the tables are really close to each other.

A wonderful dining experience! The food and service were exceptional, truly deserving of top marks. The atmosphere was very pleasant and almost perfect. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality meal in a great setting.

I visited here after a long day in Le Louvre and I was very impressed!
I was welcomed by the lovely server Nirmine and she gave the best recommendation from the cocktail to the dessert. The duck was absolutely amazing, crispy skin but the flesh just melted in your mouth 🙂 Pornstar martini was cute and gimmicky with the Prosecco to ´rinse ´ in between each sip. The Crème brêle was nice but I was already too full to enjoy fully.
Good location, good food and good service 😉

We had a fantastic dinner here. The kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing.
The Dishes
• French Onion Soup: The broth had a rich, deeply savory depth, and it was topped with a generous, properly melted layer of cheese over crusty bread.
• Beef Bourguignon: The beef was incredibly tender, braised in a rich, glossy red wine reduction with carrots and fresh herbs. Presenting it with a smooth mound of mashed potatoes right in the center was a great touch, perfect for soaking up the sauce.
• Duck Confit: Exceptionally well-prepared. This was my favorite! The skin was perfectly crisp while the meat remained tender and juicy. It came paired with well-seasoned roasted potatoes and a simple side salad that provided a nice, fresh contrast to the richness of the dish.
Overall Experience:
The meal was rounded out nicely with a basket of fresh baguette and a crisp beer. Portions are generous, presentation is clean, and the flavors are spot on. It's a great spot for an authentic, unpretentious meal. We’ll definitely be back.

Exceeded our expectation of French cuisine. We had the Burgundy snails for entree, Duck confit, sautéed new potatoes with garlic, pepper sauce & Burger, Charolais steak with cheese sauce, homemade fries for our mains and Crème Brûlée for dessert.
The snails were seasoned very well with garlic & parsley butter, duck melted in your mouth and was delicious, steak burger flavours were out of this world and what can I say about the Crème Brûlée silky smooth.
Highly recommend this cute restaurant with friendly service and great atmosphere. Thankyou to the staff for making this the best meal we have had in Europe the past 5 weeks.

Good experience, good food and ok service. The restaurant is small and very crowded, the service was OK, we were quickly seated but not as quickly served. The escargots were good, same the beef tartare and the onion soup. French fries were terrible and the duck was ok, the prices are fair for being in Paris. It takes a while to be seated if you are with a bigger group, 2 ppl get accommodated pretty quick.

Officine du Louvre is undeniably beautiful, the space alone is worth the visit, and the welcome at the entrance was warm and genuinely lovely. We settled into the café for a drink and a lemon ice cream, but the wait stretched past 40 minutes, which felt long for what we ordered. We also asked for a food menu and it slipped through the cracks, had to flag down another staff member to get one. Service hiccups aside, the ambiance is gorgeous and comfortable enough that I’d still consider going back, just with a little more patience in mind.

It’s petit cafe/bar with a very nice roof. We enjoyed the time there but the service was not very fast. Maybe because of the shift changing. The pastry was really amazing!

Had afternoon tea, for €50 each, absolutely shocking. You get a bite of a sandwich each, the desserts weren’t nice - one come with a pea puree in the middle which did not work and hazelnut praline was gritty and too sweet. You have to ask for plates, an extra tea bag as they only give you one, for staff to forget as they would be chatting to each other and then you have to ask again. The service was poor, spend your money elsewhere, you’ll have a much better time.

A lovely, fancy lunch in a gorgeous spot- away from all the hustle and bustle. Our waitress was incredible and very helpful navigating the menu with our kiddo’s allergies. Would highly recommend their cocktails, too!

Beautiful restaurant and bar in hotel louvre that is like walking inside of a painting. Ornamental window up top, greenery, delicate accents. A lovely respite away from the bustle outside. I got the root vegetable tart which was very beautiful and delicious. Various root vegetables inside a thin and flaky phyllo crust that came with a salad. I also got earl grey tea which was lovely. Check them out for tea time that service looked great!
Tips for Visiting Cafés near the Louvre
Understanding the rhythm of Parisian café culture will significantly enhance your experience. The rules of engagement here differ slightly from other parts of the world, particularly regarding seating and service. Knowing a few local customs can save you time and ensure you blend in seamlessly with the locals.
Be mindful of peak hours. The cafés closest to the Louvre entrances are busiest between 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM during the lunch rush. If you want a quiet coffee, aim for mid-morning or late afternoon. This allows you to enjoy the ambiance without the stress of fighting for a table.
Understand the pricing structure. In many Parisian cafés, the price of your drink changes depending on where you sit. Standing at the bar (au comptoir) is often significantly cheaper than sitting at a table (en salle) or on a terrace (en terrasse). Check the menu board before you sit down to avoid surprises.
Don’t expect fast service. Meals and coffee breaks in Paris are meant to be savored. Servers will not rush you, and they expect you to signal them when you are ready to order or pay. Patience is a virtue here; use the time to rest your feet and people-watch.
Use your basic French phrases. While many staff near the Louvre speak English, starting with a polite "Bonjour" is essential. A simple "Un café, s’il vous plaît" goes a long way in establishing a friendly rapport and ensuring better service throughout your visit.
Carry a little cash. While credit cards are widely accepted, some smaller, traditional establishments may have a minimum spend for card transactions. Having a few euro coins on hand is useful for a quick espresso at the counter.
The perfect café break is the ideal complement to a museum visit. It allows you to process the art you have just seen while observing the living theater of Parisian streets. Whether you choose a historic institution or a trendy micro-roastery, the pause is well deserved.
Take your time, sip slowly, and enjoy the distinct pleasure of doing nothing in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The art inside the Louvre may be timeless, but the simple joy of a great coffee is a masterpiece in its own right.
