As the last town on the French Riviera before the Italian border, Menton is often celebrated for its lemons, lush gardens, and pastel-hued architecture. Yet, as the sun dips behind the mountains, the “Pearl of France” reveals a surprisingly vibrant and intimate nightlife scene.
Unlike the mega-clubs of Cannes or the glitzy champagne bars of Monaco, Menton offers a more relaxed and authentic experience. Here, the focus is on quality wine, expertly mixed cocktails, local craft beer, and the kind of warm hospitality that makes you feel like a regular.
Whether you are looking for a sun-drenched terrace for an afternoon spritz or a moody speakeasy for a late-night digestif, this border town has a watering hole to suit your mood. The proximity to Italy heavily influences the drinking culture, resulting in a unique blend of French wine expertise and Italian aperitivo tradition.
From bustling squares in the Old Town to hidden gems tucked away on cobblestone lanes, navigating the local scene can be a delight. To help you drink like a local, we have curated a list of the most compelling spots currently defining Menton’s bar culture.
This guide focuses on variety, atmosphere, and quality of service, ensuring you find the perfect venue regardless of the occasion. Get ready to explore the 15 best bars in Menton, where the drinks are strong and the Mediterranean breeze is constant.

One of our favourite spots in Menton!
Ferdinand quickly became a regular part of our evenings in Menton. We would often stop by for a drink, and every visit was something to look forward to.
The choice of cocktails is fantastic, especially if you are a rum lover. They have an incredible selection of different rums and a huge variety of drinks on the menu, so there is something for everyone. It was actually difficult to choose!
What we really loved was the unique atmosphere. It feels warm, lively and a little different from the usual bars, while the staff were always friendly and welcoming. Also, I'm a sucker for funny table lamps and they were stunning XD.
For us, Ferdinand became the perfect place to end the evening with a good cocktail and enjoy the atmosphere. If you are visiting Menton and enjoy rum, cocktails and a relaxed but lively setting, this is definitely a place worth discovering.
We will certainly be back next time we are in Menton! 🍹🥃✨

Good rum cocktails, really cool decor! We were here when Diego was playing his 'blues latino' and it created a fantastic atmosphere. It's tucked away in a lovely quiet spot away from the road, great place to sit for the evening. Nice wine cave next door too.
Jens★★★★★
Ferdinand is an excellent bar specialised in rum (they offer round about 200 different rums).
We had two delicious cocktails and even got a plate with very tasty snacks for free.
The location's design is awesome and the staff is super attentive and very nice.
I can absolutely recommend visiting Ferdinand.

Here on vacation from Ontario, Canada and stumbled upon this little gem. If you enjoy rum and pretty much any great adult beverage this is the place to come. The service was great as well.

Great bar with a huge selection of craft beer at reasonable prices. If you want your experience to be even better, ask for the girl with red hair, the excellent, positive person deserves all 5 stars.
Brickdale House★☆☆☆☆
Rude waitresses that don’t speak English. Pretending that tables are always reserved even though empty and missed timeslots. Lazy to work when they could be printing money. Owner delusional nationalist that doesn’t realise that he’s in the service industry. You would have no economy in this village without tourists. No one cares about your language it’s 2026, people go to school and learn English… rude, unprofessional and unpleasant. Proved my point in reply. Avoid!

Ate here twice in October 2024. Small menu. But what they served was nicely presented and good food. Escargot was really good. Not a big spot and not fancy but a great place for a tasty meal.

Okay, so, this might be the most incredible bar experience I've had in France. What a magnificent evening I had. The outdoor seating offered a great view of gorgeous Menton streets, the perfect setting for people watching. Staff were incredibly hospitable, and prices were reasonable. What really made the night was Christophe's beautiful singing, thank you so much Christophe!! Your rendition of Frank Sinatras 'My Way' was such a beautiful experience. If you want a bar experience with hospitality like no other, this is your spot!!

Good variety and plenty on the charcuterie board, the croque monsieur was also tasty. Cold drinks and coffee were excellent as well.

Find this place!!! A perfect wine nook in a super cute alley. Get off the beaten path and explore the nooks and crannies of this town. My server, who I believe might be the owner as well, was very friendly and accommodating. Despite my very limited French, she made me feel very welcome. Whoever selected the playlist needs a raise. The perfect tone and vibe to relax and take your time. I never wanna leave.

Super sweet people that work here! And amazing cheese and wine!❤️
Ravi Midha★☆☆☆☆
We’d read so many positive reviews about this place, we couldn’t wait to visit. I don’t think we’ll return. The waitress was very surly and seemed more interested in her boyfriend than us. Begrudging service with little charm. And beware (!) the prices on the chalk board are per glass (not per bottle)!
The food, however, was good quality and at €25 for a sharing plate for 2, was reasonable.
There are so many other establishments in this lovely town, but sadly we cannot recommend this one.

We went to Persephone twice during our stay in Menton and enjoyed it both times. The owners are very friendly and helpful in suggesting wines. Everything is reasonably priced and we were able to try some lovely wines and a charcuterie board.

Visited here for a couple of drinks with friends. Service was very good and very friendly. It wasn't so busy but a good atmosphere nonetheless. Price of beer about normal for the area and very tasty, especially their new mango beer (Slash).

If you like loud, ugly bars, this is the place. It's only saving grace is its 15 taps, although most are low-quality mass-produced beers.

We absolutely loved this place! The location is beautiful, the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, and the staff made our visit truly special. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful from the moment we arrived. They even took the time to explain and translate the local specialties for us, which we really appreciated and made the whole experience even better.
We tried the tapas, focaccia, and a few of their desserts, and honestly, everything was phenomenal. Every bite was delicious, fresh, and clearly made with love. It’s hard to pick a favorite because it was all so good!
You can really feel the passion and care that goes into this place. Great food, amazing people, and such a lovely atmosphere. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely come back the next time we’re here. Highly recommended!❤️❤️❤️

I have been here many times and so far the experience has always been good. Thanks to the nice cozy ambiance. We enjoyed our coffee. The baristas try their best to be able to serve their customers even if they are really busy. A welcoming environment. Not easy to find a seat because most of the time it is full.

Stumbled here on our first morning in Menton looking for a drink and a quick nibble before we went to the beach. The cafe is adorable which we could see but what we didn’t expect was such great service and kindness. Immediately the man and woman running the store were helpful navigating the menu and language. They answered our questions and were patient and happy to answer questions and just chat. The espresso, and tea, my wife ordered were delicious in the croissant sandwich sandwiches and chocolate pain was also great.
And even though we didn’t plan on going out much for breakfast, we said to ourselves we had to go back before we left. Two nights later, my wife happened to walk by, and ask the woman who runs the shop about the best gelato around, and she immediately gave us a great recommendation.
On our second to last night in Benton, we stopped by for a drink and an appetizer. They allowed our kids to spread out and drawn their sketchbook, kindly ask our questions about random things like the color of Fanta in France. In the charcuterie board, they came out with was delicious, the pear jam that they came out with was excellent and it was a delightful assortment.
I’m always happy to have a good meal, and a good cup of coffee, but when that comes with absolutely topnotch service and some of the friendliest restaurant owners I’ve ever encountered it really made the experience delightful.

We didn't take food but enjoyed sipping our extraordinary variety of Spritz and drinks they have. We had an appéro there which they graciously serve with some peanuts and chips. It was a delightful experience with a welcoming atmosphere. Great location and service, strongly recommend.

had a wonderful meal here with my partner! she’s vegan but didn’t mention it oat milk, but you didn’t mention until they come out with her drink (having requested oat milk) but they were kind enough to replace a drink with milk chocolate with dark chocolate instead. Otherwise the food and atmosphere were great!

A fantastic experience at the Med Rooftop! The burger from the special 2026 World Cup menu was truly excellent, generous, and delicious. The cocktails were also very well done, perfect for enjoying the rooftop in a pleasant atmosphere. I can't wait to come back and try the à la carte menu!

The setting is beautiful, certainly, but that's not everything. The staff isn't particularly welcoming, which is a shame, and the portions are ridiculously small; there's very little on the plates, which is a pity given the lovely setting. The taste doesn't live up to the menu description either. There's also a long wait.

Great restaurant with a view of Marseille and the beautiful sea.
It's a shame they were out of ice, but we were able to order some very cold beers. ☀️

We came for lunch and stayed to watch the F1 race. The food is absolutely amazing! We had the burrata salad, beef carpaccio, the Camembert dish and the ML Burger. Everything was absolutely delicious, 10/10!! We also had the Spaculoos cheesecake which was probably one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ver had. The personnel is very nice and the bathroom is clean. Highly recommend!

Overall, it was a good experience with a few drawbacks. The food was very nice and enjoyable, although it wasn’t anything particularly special. The restaurant became very crowded when we arrived, which made the experience a bit less comfortable.
The service was average—nothing bad, but nothing outstanding either. My biggest concern was the men’s bathroom, which was very dirty when I went to wash my hands. It was unhygienic enough that I didn’t even feel comfortable using it. I believe the entire bathroom needs to be renovated and maintained much better.
With some improvements to cleanliness and service, this place could offer a much better overall experience.

Good, tasty food and a nice atmosphere. The grilled sea bass was perfect! The mussels were a bit overcooked! We also ordered a kids' Margarita pizza which was super.
Natasa B.★★★★☆
Nice place, just by the sea. We especially liked the mussels with gorgonzola, which was a good big portion with generous amount of gorgonzola! Nice spaghetti with vongole too. I didn't like the Mentonaise platter which was very average to poor, as food looked reheated. The service was very slow too, as we waited around 45 minutes for our food and had to ask for one of the plates again because it didn't came with the rest.
Martin Lanfranchi★★★★★
We had such a great lunch here. First we saw some of the reviews weren't too good, so we were reluctant to eat there, but we took a leap of fate and it was one of the best meals in Menton. The blonde lady (dont remember her name) who waited our table was so nice and friendly, food was delicious and prices were reasonable. Right in front of the marina, with a cool breeze and under the protective shadow of the umbrellas, we were delighted. Thank you! Oh and the mocktail was awesome as well!! 🙂

We had such a nice time at Les Incompris. The interior is beautiful, with warm lighting and a cozy, stylish feel that makes you want to stay longer. Our food came out quickly, which was great, and everything was fresh and full of flavor. It’s the kind of place where you can catch up with friends over a good meal without feeling rushed, and it still feels a bit special. We’re already planning to come back to try more dishes!

Stopped here along the waterfront in Menton for a bite and a drink. Prices in all these heavily touristed areas tend to be somewhat inflated but thankfully this restaurant made up for it with decent portion sizes and yummy food. The fries were particularly tasty, and they were generous with them! There was some confusion in that I thought I was getting a chicken burger rather than a beef burger, but it was no trouble as the burger was great. The only downside was that the outside seating area was mixed smoking and non smoking, with two full tables of four smokers on either side of us--but this was more bad luck on our part than any fault of the restaurant. Overall, a good spot for a meal on the waterfront in Menton.
Julia Hurstfield★★★★★
A great restaurant with friendly & helpful staff & great food and wine overlooking the Marina - we visited twice & enjoyed both meals - croque monsieur, cheeseburger & deserts & steak & fries & tiramisu - good beer & wine

We were here by mistake, but we will definitely come back! Was a win! The lunch menu is quite fair on the price and the food. Definitely fresh… we end up satisfied…. the view and environment of this place is amazing I mean was a good deal.
Just be aware that there’s a lot of flies around since is an open area but not the restaurants fault.

The food at O’Frays restaurant was absolutely delicious – the best we had during our 5-day trip across France and Italy. Every dish was worth every euro. I would definitely come back again and again. The owner was also very sincere and friendly, making the experience even better!

I completely agree with the review below—I have no idea how this restaurant maintains a 4.4 rating!
We visited as a family on a Wednesday evening when many options in Menton were closed. Since we don't eat seafood, we were looking for something simple.
To be fair, the service was great and very friendly (5 stars for the staff!). However, everything else was a complete nightmare.
The food was practically inedible. It clearly felt frozen, which explained why it took so long to arrive even if the restaurant was half empty. When it finally came, it tasted old, bland, and completely lacking flavor (we ordered the steak with pepper sauce and burgers).
On top of that, the atmosphere was entirely inappropriate for families with young children. There were drunk guests creating a scene (Man/Man) fand our kids witnessed things they really shouldn't have seen at a dinner table. When we arrived this was not present....it came shortly after.
I cannot recommend this place, especially for families.
Amanda Prince★★★★★
Wonderful find in Menton. Our first experience of French hospitality on arrival in Menton and it couldn't have been nicer. Warm, welcoming, great service so we did return again and on doing so made to feel like we were old friends. Its lovely you are remembered, served promptly and feel at-home. This place is an absolute vibe the moment you walk in🌺🌴Think tropical colors everywhere, playful beach-inspired decor, and some of the seats actually shaped like boats — someone clearly had a lot of fun putting this together, and it shows. The whole setup just puts you in a good mood instantly.
Skipped reading the drinks menu and went straight for the Coco Loco 🥥🍹— same name as the restaurant, felt like the obvious move. Best decision of the day. It was sweet but incredibly refreshing, not the least bit cloying, with this lovely layered quality that kept every sip interesting. And visually? Absolutely stunning. Pure sunshine in a glass.
For food, I ordered the lemon cream mussels🍋and they came out in the most generously sized pot — overflowing, honestly. Beautifully cooked and the flavors were bright and rich at the same time. One small note: this is probably better shared between two people alongside a few other dishes, just so you can pace yourselves and try more of the menu.
Total came to €29, which for a seaside spot in Menton is genuinely great value.
Oh, and the staff — genuinely some of the warmest, most enthusiastic people I’ve encountered at a restaurant in a long time. The kind of energy that makes you want to stay just a little bit longer☺️❤️
Highly recommend👍🏻And whatever you do, order the Coco Loco🫵🏻Non-negotiable🙌🏻

Initially, I left only a one-star review without any explanation because I didn’t want to let this ruin my day. However, after receiving a sarcastic and disrespectful response from the owner (I have attached a screenshot), I decided to delete that review and publicly explain why I gave one star.
I came to this restaurant based on recommendations from other people. When we arrived, I politely asked where we could sit, but we were not even greeted. We were asked whether we wanted to eat or just have drinks. I replied that we wanted to start with drinks and that we might order food later. The lady who greeted us responded in a cold and annoyed tone that the tables were only for customers who were eating. She offered no explanation, showed no welcoming attitude, and simply turned around and walked away.
We were left standing there, and when we said that in that case we would order food as well, we were met with the rude response: “What didn’t you understand?” At the same time, two other girls in exactly the same situation were allowed to sit down for drinks only. This made me feel that the rules were not being applied equally to all customers.
If there really is a policy that tables are reserved only for customers ordering food, I have no issue with that. The problem is the way we were spoken to. A simple response such as, “We’re sorry, but at this time the tables are reserved for customers ordering food. If you’re only having drinks, we can offer you another table or kindly ask you to come back later,” would have been completely sufficient and professional. The issue is not the policy itself, but the lack of respect shown to customers.
Unfortunately, the sarcastic and mocking reply to my review confirmed exactly the impression I had when I first walked into the restaurant. Instead of trying to understand a customer’s concern and responding respectfully, they chose to mock me. Had they replied politely, my original review—which was simply a one-star rating without any explanation—would probably have gone unnoticed by most people. Instead, their attitude prompted me to publicly explain what happened.
I believe every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of whether they are ordering only a drink or a full meal. That is why my experience deserves one star.
And, ironically, today is my birthday. I came here hoping to enjoy a nice evening and have a pleasant experience, but the attitude I received and the response I later received turned what should have been a special moment into a disappointment.

Fantastic spot right on the beach!
We loved how perfectly located this place is — right on the sand and just steps away from convenient parking. It’s an ideal option for families, with a relaxed atmosphere and quick, friendly service. The food came out fast, fresh, and full of flavour.
The salads are outstanding — fresh, crisp, and huge portions, perfect for sharing or enjoying as a full meal. I also tried the beef 🥩 tartare and really enjoyed it — beautifully seasoned and prepared.
A great touch was the misty water cooling system, which was absolute bliss during the super hot week we had in Menton. Overall, a fantastic beachside dining experience for all ages, fresh food, generous portions, and a location that’s hard to beat.

After waiting more than 15 minutes for three cocktails, we asked if we could get our order. (We saw that everyone who arrived after us had already been served.) The old lady we spoke to made no attempt to help. At first, she said she wasn't a waitress, then told us that if we didn't like it, we could leave. So we left, and we will never go back. A few kind words from the old lady or the waiter would have solved the problem.

I highly recommend this pub and restaurant 200%! Thank you to the owner and the whole team for your kindness, professionalism, and for creating such wonderful moments. See you again very soon! ✨

Popped in here for a chilled drink and ended up having the funniest time til closing with the friendly owner and the regulars. Everyone was warm and welcoming and I’m sad it was only one evening.
Had chicken Caesar salad which was a twist on a regular Caesar but was freshly made, delicious and served with baguette.
Highly recommended when you’re in Menton, don’t expect your standard Irish bar but do expect good times and good drinks 🩷

Enjoyed a cold beer and free tapas (crostini’s, cheese, chips, olives and peanuts). Very welcoming place with attentive service. Nice seating outside. We will return soon!

Bull McCabe’s in Menton isn’t just a pub – it’s an experience. We stopped by one evening and what truly made the night unforgettable wasn’t just the perfectly poured pints or the lively atmosphere, but the incredible warmth of the owners. One is French, the other Italian – and together they bring the best of both worlds.
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like old friends. The French charm, with its easy humour and hospitality, mixed beautifully with that unmistakable Italian warmth and passion for life. It felt less like a bar visit and more like being invited into someone’s home.
They didn’t just serve drinks, they created memories – laughter, stories, and genuine connection. That rare, perfect blend of Irish pub soul, French convivialité, and Italian cuore made our night in Menton absolutely special.
If you want more than just a drink – if you want an experience filled with warmth, friendliness, and heart – Bull McCabe’s is the place. Bravo & grazie mille! 🍻🇫🇷🇮🇹🇮🇪

Interesting restaurant / Cafe' they don't post there hours in the web site? Great service. Cold drinks and excellent service. Casual. Fish and chips were tasty but not your usual fare. Breaded, thin. Great tartar sauce.

Lovely staff and delicious food!
Food was absolutely worth the price! Everything is very tasty except the guacamole was a bit bland and the chips came with it were too dry for my taste.
The location is a bit far from the center (around 30 mins walk) if you are on foot. You might consider taking the bus but keep in mind you will be walking after the dinner.
Thanks everyone for a lovely evening again and looking forward to coming back!

Very nice staff, service was perfectible though. Food was good but wine list was very limited. Cocktails were really not well made. Music is loud in but nice terrace outside.

Yes, you will pay a premium for the great location right in a beach club overlooking the great blue calm côte d'azur waters. but boy that grilled octopus was something out of this earth. Great service, very polite and friendly staff.

We were immediately welcomed by Juliano and given great details for the beach club including getting us a lunch reservation! The Moraccan gin and tonic cocktail was exceptional tasting. Emma took great care of us at lunch. The miso inspired salmon and the sea bream puttanesca was prepared beautifully. We loved the view of the colorful old town buildings from seats 101-104. So glad we choice Menton and Les Sablettes Beach Club.

Beach is empty and when you ask staff they say it’s fully booked. They destroy the business and tourism in these small villages that live on tourists and for max of 3 months. I’m really disappointed with the level of staff and beach club managers here; they won’t be even hired in normal places in GCC and Turkey. On the top of that; beach is a rocky beach

We had an amazing experience at this beach club. The sunbeds were very comfortable, the food was fresh and delicious, and the overall atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing day by the sea.
What really made our visit special was the exceptional staff. They were incredibly attentive, friendly, and always one step ahead. They regularly adjusted and moved our umbrella throughout the day so we could stay in the shade without even having to ask. Their thoughtful service made us feel genuinely well looked after 😊

We loved this place 10/10, the food was amazing, atmosphere was amazing and the service staff was incredible. Special thank you to Juliano and Isla who were great. We ate, we drank, had a blast!!
Tips for Enjoying Menton’s Bar Scene
Before you head out for a night on the town, it helps to understand the local customs and logistics. Menton’s nightlife is generally more subdued and elegant than its neighbors, operating on a rhythm that balances early evening socializing with late-night relaxation. Here are a few tips to ensure your experience is seamless and enjoyable.
Embrace the Aperitivo Hour
Menton sits directly on the Italian border, and the cultural crossover is palpable. Most bars offer a "Happy Hour" or Italian-style aperitivo between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. This is the best time to visit if you want a lively atmosphere without the late-night crowds, often accompanied by complimentary snacks like olives, chips, or focaccia when you order a drink.
Cash is King for Small Tabs
While most established bars and wine cellars accept credit cards, many of the smaller, hole-in-the-wall establishments in the Old Town have minimum spend limits for card transactions. It is wise to keep a small amount of cash (Euros) on hand to avoid awkward moments when paying for a single glass of wine or a quick espresso martini.
Dress Smart Casual
Menton is a sophisticated town, and even the casual beach bars tend to attract a well-dressed crowd in the evenings. While you don’t need a tuxedo, leaving the flip-flops and wet swimwear at the hotel is a good idea if you plan to visit a wine bar or cocktail lounge. Smart casual attire will help you blend in seamlessly with the locals.
Explore the Alleys
The best bars in Menton are rarely located on the main pedestrian street (Rue Piétonne). While those terraces are great for people-watching, the true gems are hidden in the winding staircases and vaulted cellars of the Vieille Ville (Old Town). Don’t be afraid to wander down a dimly lit alley; that is usually where you will find the most atmospheric venues and the best live music.
Check for Seasonal Closures
Menton is a year-round town, but some seasonal beach bars and pop-up terraces close during the winter months (November to February). Conversely, some cozy indoor cocktail dens might reduce their hours during the hot summer months. It is always best to check a venue’s social media page for current opening hours before making a special trip.
As the night winds down, you will find that Menton offers a perfect balance between the energy of the Riviera and the tranquility of a border town. Whether you finish your evening with a final glass of local rosé by the marina or a nightcap in a stone-walled cave, the memories made here tend to linger long after the glass is empty.
The true beauty of drinking in Menton lies in the details: the sound of waves mixing with conversation, the seamless blend of French and Italian languages, and the lack of pretense. So, raise a glass to the Pearl of France, and enjoy discovering your new favorite watering hole.
