Arles is a city that wears its history beautifully. Roman arenas stand beside Romanesque churches, while contemporary art spaces breathe new life into ancient stone. Choosing the right place to stay here means deciding how you want to experience this layered Provençal gem—whether waking up to views of the Rhône, sleeping within medieval walls, or relaxing by a pool beneath plane trees.
The best hotels in Arles are not just places to sleep; they are part of the journey. From intimate townhouses tucked down quiet lanes to design-forward properties that nod to the city’s artistic legacy, the accommodation scene is surprisingly diverse. Many are set within beautifully restored historic buildings, offering a genuine sense of place that chain hotels simply cannot match.
For travelers drawn by the Van Gogh trail, staying in the historic center puts the Place du Forum, the Alyscamps, and the Fondation Vincent van Gogh within easy walking distance. Early mornings and late evenings reward you with quieter streets and softer light—perfect for soaking up the atmosphere that inspired so many paintings. A central base also means you are never far from a sun-drenched terrace or a bowl of authentic soupe au pistou.
If your visit is tied to the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival or a wedding in the surrounding Camargue, location and comfort become even more important. The city fills quickly during major events, and the right hotel can serve as a calm retreat after a busy day of exhibitions or celebrations. Amenities like air conditioning, private parking, and soundproofed windows make a significant difference in the height of summer.
Couples often seek romance in the form of ivy-clad courtyards, vaulted stone ceilings, and breakfast served on private terraces. Families, meanwhile, prioritize space, pool access, and easy strolling distance to casual restaurants. Business travelers and digital nomads value reliable Wi-Fi, workspaces, and proximity to the train station for day trips to Nîmes, Avignon, or Marseille.
Whether you are planning a weekend escape or a week-long immersion in Provençal culture, the following selection highlights the most compelling places to stay. Each property has been chosen for its distinct character, service quality, and ability to enhance your experience of this extraordinary city.

We really enjoyed our two-night stay here. The location is superb, and the spa was a great and a welcome experience after extensive travel - and what a surprise to have such fabulous views of the coliseum from the spa window.
Room 7 offered both exceptional views and plenty of space for all of our backpacks and other luggage. The reception is homey, whimsical, and a bit spacious with a play space for children. I love the focus on local design to highlight the city's photography school and artistic community. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful and the restaurant out front offers great views and people-watching. We enjoyed coffee and croissants out front one morning, and for the other morning, I was delighted by the superb quality of the breakfast buffet.
Thank you, Ricardo, for being so helpful and warm.

My aunt, Anahid Djeghalian, spent a few days in Arles with her family she we stayed at the Calendal hotel.
They had such a lovely and comfortable stay.
The location and the hotel itself were great but above all it was the very welcoming, warm and efficient team of the hotel notably under the leadership of Nathalie that made our stay marvelous.
Message from my aunt:
Thank you Nathalie for this amazing experience.
I am looking forward to going back to hotel Calendal when we travel to Arles.

Our best hotel yet. We were given a room with view over Theatre Antiques and rooftops. Fantastic friendly staff. Good food and drinks. Spa with view and steam room well received after biking during days.

Our experience in this hotel was quite appalling. Our standards are not that high, but the room we got looked like a youth hostel. The furniture was old, the beds were awful and the bathroom was the worse part. One of the nights I went to shower and there was no hot water. In the bathroom the paint is peeling off the walls. In the shower you could barely lift your arms to wash your hair. When asked for fresh towels at the front desk, I was met with some reluctance. Breakfast was just okay. We had to stay here as part of a group tour, so we did not have a choice. The hotel’s location is nice, but I would never stay here again. It was unimaginable to be that hotel contained a spa, and I did not dare to try the spa by the looks of the place. The building, rooms, breakfast, and customer service leave much to be desired. If you do stay here get a room away from staircase so you do not hear people going up and down all the time. There is no elevator.

The people who run this place are incredible and go above & beyond to ensure their guests are taken care of. The rooms are incredible.. huge, comfortable beds and very clean. They have a lovely garden and secure bike storage. The hotel is also right on the viarhona cycle path. The breakfast here was so declicious - yogurt, fresh fruits, cheese and lots of baked goods.
It is also right next to the colosseum and lots of restaurants in this area. This was a wonderful stay. Thank you for everything!

Our room was so hot in the afternoon it is awful. I called the receptionist and she said she has to adjust the temperature from her reception computer. Why do they not let the guest adjust their own room temperature and have to go to the receptionist? Even after calling it is still very hot. Not acceptable.

The receptionist ....(oops forgot the spell)... was excellent in communication, otherwise I would have had a tough time. She was very kind.
Room was just ok for living, had difficulty with the bathing space (too small).
The amenities were great and well maintained.

There are multiple good things about this hotel and one bad thing.
The good. It is clean. The rooms are spacious. Very important and appreciated: the water dispensers in a lot of places. Breakfast was up to standards with choices. A lot of effort on the decor, that is special. Nicely renovated with some interesting features. It is an experience. There is a swimming pool. Arcade game, the kids love it.
The BAD. It is near the highway and during night the passing trucks were making irregular constant noice. I am sure there are a lot of rooms less exposed to the noise. My bad I did not asked and did not take my earplugs ( lesson learned). If was not this it could have been easier a 5star.

The room itself was smallish, but the ambiance, service and location were perfect! We only stayed for one night as we were boarding a cruise ship the following day, but we were welcomed like family by the friendly concierge. The hotel is a 6 minute walk from the train station and a 4 minute walk to the quai where we embarked on our cruise! The hotel is very airy, with great automated shutters on a large window overlooking a treed courtyard. The decor is a lovely blend of historic and modern, the beds are very comfortable, the facilities clean and new. Absolutely no complaints.

Perfect location. We were there for five days and had a nice room with a huge balcony overlooking the main street of the city. We were just inside the city wall so parking just outside was simple. The staff was great and could not be more accommodating when it came to anything like parking, coffee, etc..
David M.★★★★★
A charming boutique hotel in an excellent location, right by the ancient city walls of Arles. There is a paid parking area just behind the wall, making it convenient either to park or at least to stop briefly to unload luggage.
The lady at the reception was exceptionally welcoming and always helpful. The gentleman serving breakfast was also very friendly and took the time to explain everything to us. The breakfast itself was satisfying.
Our room was cozy and spotless, with a very comfortable bed and a spacious, well-maintained bathroom.
Restaurants, bars and the rest of the historic old town are just a short walk away.
All in all, we had a lovely two-night stay in Arles, both in the city and at the hotel—and we’ll definitely be back!

Wow what a fantastic place to explore Arles from. A family run hotel in a great location. Walking distance to all key activities and short stroll to the coliseum. A relaxed spotlessly clean and quiet hotel. Breakfast was delicious and everything about my stay perfect. Thank you and I look forward to return one day. Don’t hesitate to book this gem of a hotel.

very cheap-minded hotel. provided only one key which was required to allow electricity to the room so you couldn't charge your computer when you were out. Made us feel we were asking for something outrageous when we wanted some ice. Hotel has no staff after 7:30 PM!, closed hotel allowing entry through a poorly lit entrance. no security.

We stayed at the Hôtel du Musée for three nights. We thoroughly enjoyed. Excellent location being within walking distance from the train station and all the sights and restaurants.
The staff were very helpful, giving excellent recommendations for places to eat. Nothing was too much trouble.
Rooms were clean and spacious, although the doorway into our bathroom was a bit low (I am quite tall).
Breakfast was excellent and eaten in a quaint little courtyard.
If you’re planning a stay in Arles then we would thoroughly recommend the Hôtel du Musée.

I had a very nice stay at Hotel du Musee in Arles, France. My room (single) was quite comfortable, and I appreciated that it had an A/C unit. The shower is a little small, but still manageable. The continental breakfast was good both in quantity and taste. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful in answering questions about sites to visit and providing restaurant recommendations. Hotel du Musee is in a fantastic location. It is in a quiet area and within easy walking distance (about 5 minutes) to the Roman Arena and several other major sites, and about a 10-minute walk to the train station. There are also a number of restaurants and shops nearby.

An historic building converted into a family-owned/run hotel, adjacent to the Musée Réattu. Our room on the top floor was comfortable, but, as noted by other reviewers, you have to be ready to carry your own bags up a flight or two of stairs. There was initially a plumbing odor in our room which went away during our three nights’ stay. Cordial staff, nice breakfast, a short walk from the train/bus station. Recommended.
Laura Tawil★★★★★
The Hotel du Musee is such a sanctuary in the city. It is a cluster of home spaces converted to a hotel connected by a multi-level set of garden terraces that serve as extended breakfast space. These interior gardens are a full, rich, green oasis that I'd stay in all day if the river wasn't a block away and the Baths of Constantine Roman monument weren't at the corner!
The rooms are NOT cookie-cutter-matchy along long dull hallways. Each space is unique. The room we had was excellent - clean, big, bright, light and air from the windows, even had a mini-fridge for our market buys. Returning to the hotel each evening really felt like coming home. Yes - we will stay in this exact hotel again, but for more than 3 nights!
Sara Jones★★★★★
A great, comfortable hotel, very clean & staff very helpful. Excellent breakfast & location. Opposite Musee Reattu. 10 mins walk along the river to the train station.

Very nice hotel. Cosy and laid back. Perfect for a stay in Arles. Staff was super friendly.
Just one remark (which was clear when booking the room) there are stairs to get to the rooms.

My partner and I had a great one night stay at Le Cloître. To start with, the reception staff were very friendly and spoke very good English. The furnishings are very modern all throughout.
We booked the junior suite as it was the only room advertising AC, so beware if you’re going during the warmer months and booking a different room. The room was excellent, although it did not have a fridge or much of a bathroom countertop (minor comments). Overall, the design was very cool.
We tossed up going to the restaurant immediately outside which looked great, but the hotel is well positioned for walking so we ended up getting dinner while taking an evening stroll through the old town.
Would go back again and recommend to friends.

Sweet little hotel cradled between houses up a narrow street. Beautiful space with modern decoration. Stayed with my family and shared a double room with my brother. We both slept very well. Very quiet hotel. All the amenities we needed were there with a comfortable room and bathroom. High ceilings and tile floors with tasteful color palate. The breakfast was delicious ! The staff was really friendly and really helpful. Location was great too — right near the historical attractions, shopping, and restaurants ! WiFi worked well.

I loved staying at Le Cloître. I was traveling during peak tourist season and the photography festival and wanted a place to stay that was welcoming, off the beaten path, and removed from the bustle of the city. Le Cloître is a true, calm oasis within Arles that is just steps from everything you'd want to explore. I was glad to retreat there for my dinner at the end of a long day, and to start my next day with a big, lovely breakfast at the hotel as well. My visit was during a heat wave and the hotel made sure to put a small AC unit in my room. I had a wonderful stay and can't wait to go back the next time I visit Arles.

I spent two days at the Hotel du Cloître with my mum and had a wonderful time. The communal spaces and rooms are all uniquely and beautifully decorated by India Mahdavi in colorful, modern furniture and details that beautifully complement the historic architecture. The staff was lovely. It's very centrally located within walking distance of all Arles attractions. Note there is no parking and the road it's on is closed to traffic.

The most important thing you need to know about this slightly offbeat hotel is that it's on the other side of the Rhone from Arles. However, if you're on a budget, or looking for something away from the touristy center, it's a decent choice. The location isn't all that bad, because it's right on the water, just off the Trinquetaille bridge. Arles is a short 10 minute walk across the bridge, close to all the main sights, shops and restaurants. The aging hotel rates its 3 stars for its basic but serviceable rooms and few services. On the other hand, it does have a nice secluded pool and patio in a leafy courtyard, and very friendly, unpretentious staff. Also, the optional breakfast was well worth the price of 16 Euros per person. Not a bad choice, really, especially in the hot, crowded and expensive high season.

Excellent breakfast, fantastic location, easy free parking with electric charger! However the air conditioner was not good, when we switched it on some black dust fell of from it. Also there is 3-in-1 hair/face/body wash. I expected there will be no hair conditioner but hair and body wash combined is something new for me.

After a long drive from the Pyrenees I dove straight into the cool swimming pool. First impressions from the outside are of a 50's French housing estate don't despair. The hosts are friendly. The garden setting inside is quaint. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned. Location is very good easy walking to the old town center. Nearby restaurants either side of the river are good. Downside is no kettle in the room or in the common area for a cup of tea before bed, the night desk did get us a kettle of boiling water. We've enjoyed our stay.
Ria Ross★★★★★
This is a lovely small hotel. It is well situated, right across the bridge from the center of town. When I arrived, Jean-Pierre greeted me warmly. There is a beautiful outdoor area with a pool you can swim laps in. The room was very nice and there was a walk in shower. Jean-Pierre makes the breakfast and it is very good. I would stay here again.

We stayed here a couple of nights ago and wouldn't recommend it. The place is in need of upgrading and the room rates are overpriced. The picture and reviews do not justify the hotel. I don't know how it even qualifies for a 3 star. We checked in after 12am and the place was closed. We were left with instructions on how to enter the property and it was pretty unprofessional. There is nothing nearby either and you have to risk it by parking in the street.

Important note: the reception workers were friendly and tried their best to help us throughout the stay, I wouldn't blame them for our terrible experience.
When we arrived, we were assigned to a room with a very bad smell, the room smelled of sewer, and we couldnt stay inside because the smell was so bad, we called the lady in the recepcion and she moved us to two smaller rooms. One of the new rooms also smelled awful, and in the next day they told us we had to move again, to another room, but we had to wait until the room was cleaned. 4 hours after we were told we had to move, the new room still wasn't ready and we had to keep waiting. When we got back to the hotel, very tired, the new room was ready, IT WAS LEFT UNLOCKED WITH ALL OF OUR VALUABLE THINGS INSIDE!!! and there was an uninstalled tv on top of one of the beds, and just when we wanted to rest a man came inside and started installing the television, wanting to make a hole in the wall with a drill. Keep in mind we were tired and just wanted a place to be able to rest, after being forced to move rooms twice, and we never asked for a TV. Overall terrible experience, I wouldnt recommend staying there.
They also served rotten fruit in the hotel breakfast, and one of the coffee machines didnt work, as shown in the photos.
Magnus S★★★★☆
The street noise was obvious but I still slept very well and that is how I usually judge my hotel rooms.
The room was fairly large and clean, but I think it was missing some more furniture, like an armchair.
The age of the hotel was clearly noticeable in the bathroom, the silicone around the bathtub was discolored and partly missing and the tub could have been cleaner. It took me almost ten minutes to get hot water when I arrived but it worked well in the morning when there was few more rooms using hot water...
The location was good and I would be happy to stay here again.

Comfortable and very well placed hotel, near to major tourist sites, shops and restaurants in Arles. Our room was clean and comfortable and well equipped including (pleasant surprise) a kettle. The staff were friendly and helpful. Recommended! One warning: the hotel has underground parking but this should be booked in advance. Fortunately, some on street free parking is available nearby.

Good location, decent breakfast.
The room was ok it did have an odd smell in the hallway and was a bit tired looking, but served a purpose for a night.

Nice place, but big 'deal breaker': lady at the reception asked me vaccination certificate.
Hotel website did not mention this requirement. Also legally now health related information is not required for hotel stay without breakfast (option that I booked)
Bad review here is for illegal discrimination, done without any prior announcements.

We had a lovely time at Hotel Amphitheatre! The location is great- we walked everywhere and were able to easily make a stop into our room in between activities if needed. We even walked from the train station, which took us about 20 minutes- not for everyone, but doable! The manager there was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and cozy, and we could tell that they have updated things as needed in a very old and charming building.
The only things that could keep you from staying is- no elevator (like most hotels in France) only the stairs, and they can be a steep climb with luggage if you aren’t prepared. We had no issues though!

Excellent stay at the Hotel de l'Amphitheatre. Our "Terrace Suite" was spacious, comfortable, and very quiet. Staff pleasant and helpful, breakfast good, location excellent. If you're driving, keep in mind that you'll have to get your luggage several hundred meters from the central city parking lot.

We arrived in a rental car. When I had contacted the hotel in advance, they said that there was parking for a car so I didn't probe any further. We were not warned in advance that we would have to park very far away and drag our own luggage across town uphill. Because we were not told that, we were very confused upon arrival & trying to get to the hotel. GPS kept trying to send us to the hotel where all the roads were blocked off. When you are from out of town, you don't know the city and you don't speak the language, this is very disorienting. We finally called the front desk of the hotel and the man was very short with me and could not wait to get off the phone. He said there's only one parking garage in town- go to that and walk your way to the hotel. That's literally the only help I got. Which does not help when you don't know your way around town. We had no idea how to get to the parking garage. I asked him to tell us or email me the address of the parking garage and he flat out refused. I said: I know you have my email because I have corresponded with the hotel and he said: no. I do not need to do that. You just need to go to the parking garage and make your way here. He basically hung up on me. I feel like there should be a lot more explanation given to guests so they know what to expect if they arrive in a car. To be forewarned that you will be dragging your own luggage on an at least 10 minute walk across town uphill. if I had known this, I honestly would have chosen a different location. Or made other arrangements somehow. Communication about the parking should be MUCH MORE CLEAR IN ADVANCE, especially the hauling of heavy luggage.
Also no top or flat sheet on the bed was weird, as well as no face/wash cloths provided.
Despite all this, we loved Arles

Had a lovely visit to the Hotel Amphetheatre ! The room was a good size and tastefully appointed. The location could not be better. Steps from the arena and restaurants, it’s in the heart of it all but still quiet. The front desk guy Fabrice was amazing very kind and helpful! Merci beaucoup!

Located in the histrically centre of Arles which is good for sightseeing, eating out and do some shopping.
But if you have heavy luggage, it might feel a bit hard to get there especially with rain.
We asked a taxi to Arles station on the way back as it rained heavily, and cost 20euro without meter. I can`t say it`s good prive or not since it was just 5 mins drive.

Newly renovated and modern. We had junior suite facing the square. On a Sunday, after Summer, there was noise till midnight and again 6:00am onwards. AC was giving noise. Will stay in a nother hotel next time because of the noise. WIFI doesnt work here.

We stopped at this iconic hotel for dinner. We didn’t stay at the hotel, so no comment for the rooms. Hemingway, Picasso, Cocteau visited the hotel, which has a charm about the place. Elegantly decorated with items of furniture from a bygone era. We had a cocktail, served with salty almonds, in the reception area. Service was excellent, the young lady on the desk, was knowledgeable, helpful and happy to offer advice.
We ate in front of the hotel in the tree shaded square. La cafe La nuit, which Van Gogh famously painted is in the square. We ordered tuna and tagliatelle and beef tartare served with potatoes. The food was fresh and delicious. For desert we selected the ricotta filled cannoli, flavoured with orange & star anises. The wine was good. Our waitress was very friendly. Highly recommend. A lovely end to our visit to Arles.

We had an exceptional experience at Hotel Pinus in Arles thanks to Laura at the front desk. It was truly the best service I’ve experienced in a hotel in ages. Laura’s professionalism and heart made all the difference. Highly recommend.

We went for dinner, since the hotel is under renovation. When I booked online, it said it was full, then an hour later I got confirmed for the time. In fact, when we got there, it wasn’t even half full. We sat on the town square, which was lovely, until it started to rain. Unlike all the other restaurants, they had no parasols, so we got soaked. The chef loves garlic, tho it tastes like the prechopped sort out of a jar, which is nasty. My pasta had so much of it I couldn’t taste the truffles. And the dish was watery—like half full of pasta water—making for a soggy, garlicky mess. They tout on the website that they have a fancy pants chef. I cook better at home. Avoid.

I'm an Accor Platinum member and booked a suite directly. The room the front desk gave us at check-in was completely different from the pictures on their website —too simple and basic. We expressed our dissatisfaction, and the front desk offered us two other rooms that were still not clean yet, which were equally terrible. Finally, they gave us a room on the second floor that looked similar to the pictures on their website , and it had already been cleaned! My question is: I know this is a hotel converted from a monastery, which is why I like MGallery—each room might be different! But why did they give us a room that was still being cleaned?
This is the way the hotel treated a loyalty member?
We booked dinner, and the restaurant staffs were excellent, as the staff at the poolside lunch area, so our dining experience was also very pleasant!
What a pity Check-in experience ruined the impression of the hotel !
What a waste of such a beautiful hotel!

As an AllAccor Platinum member, I ordered a Junior Suite as shown on the hotel’s website with beautiful design and bright lighting. What I received upon check in was a dark suite with a dirty old carpet floor and depressing overall feeling. After some complaints, we were offered 3 alternatives which were slightly better but still with dirty carpet floors and nowhere near what was pictured on the internet.
The whole hotel needs a serious overhaul.
Apart from the abysmal rooms and bad check-in experience , location of the hotel is very good, and staff is friendly.
Overall, I would choose another hotel next time.

Hôtel & Spa Jules César is the best of the best in Arles. It's iconic, sophisticated and very comfortable! It blends the calm of a former monastery with Christian Lacroix’s bold, colourful style, mixing history with modern comfort in a way that feels effortless. Art and design sit naturally alongside warmth and relaxation, and everywhere you go, you feel the spirit of Arles. From the historic buildings and peaceful gardens to the suites, pool, spa (it's truly fabulous), and Lou Marquès’ food, the hotel feels like a place to experience greatness!

My wife and I were on holiday and traveling with a friend who was solo. Our friend was given an upgraded room and we were shown to a handicap accessible room without being asked if this was. I am 188cm tall. My wife is tall for a woman. Everything in the room was too low. The makeup mirror was at navel level for my wife (as an example). The shower had no door so water went everywhere. Overall, we were very disappointed and would not recommend the hotel. Also, the 3 of us had dinner in the hotel. We were the only patrons at dinner. The server was kind but spent long periods of time talking to people outside the restaurant so service felt very slow and inattentive.

We had a very nice stay, visiting the region during the day and enjoying the calm atmosphere of the hotel at night. The pool and gardens are amazing, Arles city is not too far by car or on a rental bike via the old bridge. The team at the hotel is very welcoming and the chickens are very friendly. we will definitely come back, thank you

I stumbled upon this gem after having no place to stay due to a double booking on VRBO, and I couldn’t have been happier! From the moment I arrived, the staff went out of their way to make me feel at home. The owner takes pride in his place, and it shows. He does his rounds at breakfast and checks in with his patrons to ensure they are enjoying their stay.
My room was clean, tastefully decorated, and came with a little terrace with a table and chairs, that quickly became one of my favourite spots.
There is a welcoming bar, and plenty of space to relax inside or outdoors, making it easy to unwind. Breakfast was my highlight every morning, both for the food and the setting.
I especially enjoyed the two chickens outside my room, walking around the property, adding to its charm !
The location worked perfectly for me —easy to access by car with self-parking available, yet just a short stroll into the historic center where I enjoyed the local bakeries and shops. I spent a 4 days here, and enjoyed every minute of it. Though I didn’t dip into the pool, it added to the appeal of this peaceful hideaway. Exceptional value for the comfort and tranquility I found.

Our room, being next to the stairs on the first floor, was noisy with people talking as they passed by. It was noisier with a party happening on a patio just below our window all evening until 10:30 PM. The WiFi was inconsistent—dropping connection frequently. Furniture was almost non-existent, with no chair and a small side table placed at the end of the bed. Stepping out of the bathtub will be a challenge for older people because the bathtub sides are too high.

I didn't stay here, but i cannot wait to stay... i was saved by the owner, when my bike broke and I was walking for a long time!
Frederick is a legend of a man, and has a heart of gold. No doubt his hotel is outstanding!

This place was a very pleasant surprise after 4 weeks of traveling. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. Our room was spotless, with modern decor and bathroom. We had a small terrace which we enjoyed. The public spaces were very inviting and if you wanted a drink from the bar you could relax inside or on the patio. This did not feel like a typical hotel, there was a feeling of visiting family. The breakfast room was great, as was the breakfast. The location is convenient, right off the main road with parking on site. A short walk brought us to the old part of town where we could grab something from the boulangerie or the small market. We stayed for a week and hated to leave. There is a pool, which we did not use. It was a quiet restful retreat at an excellent price.

Our stay at the Best Western Le Val Majour in the South of France was exactly what we needed during the hot summer days. The lovely and friendly staff made us feel welcome from the start. The efficient air conditioning and comfortable beds ensured a restful night’s sleep.
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the outdoor area. The pool, nestled under the shade of pine trees, provided a perfect retreat. Relaxing by the pool, listening to the soothing sounds of cicadas, made our leisure days an absolute bliss.
Plus, Fontvieille was just a short stroll away, where we could easily enjoy the cafes, restaurants, and the stunning charm of this picturesque village.
Overall, it was a delightful stay, and we would gladly return.

A nice clean hotel. Good comfy bed with nice linens, modern, updated shower. Big grounds and plenty of parking. Everything you need for an overnight or two stay.
WIFI kept cutting out and you had to keep signing in. There is a pool but it is too early in the season to try it out.

Best Western Val Majour is located in nice and quiet area. The room we’ve had was big enough and had a spacious bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and pillows were exceptionally good. Everything is very clean. We enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace (just 12€ for the buffet, but there is also express formula). Reception service was friendly

Shower is small, but not much you can do about it. Never needed heat or AC, but the window does open and some rooms have small balconies. Nice landscaped property with good tennis court, larger pool (but cold in October), ping-pong, donkeys (in a fenced pasture), table areas, trees. Easy free parking and access to local towns (not far to Fontvieille, but no sidewalk). Back from the road, so stays quiet even in the front rooms. Clean and well kept. Nice natural light in the breakfast area, with a good selection for our 5 day stay. Helpful desk staff in English and French (and said they knew German).

Very relaxed atmosphere outside of old town. Ample bed and room size. Good breakfast for 10euros. Need a car, but plenty of parking. Lovely pool but no onsite restaurant.
Tips for Choosing Your Ideal Stay in Arles
Selecting the right hotel involves more than comparing nightly rates. The layout of Arles, the season of your visit, and your personal travel style all influence which property will feel like the perfect fit. Keep these practical considerations in mind as you narrow down your options.
Book well ahead for summer and festival dates. Arles is a compact city with a finite number of quality rooms. From June through September, and especially during the Rencontres d’Arles opening week in early July, the best hotels sell out months in advance. Secure your reservation as soon as your dates are confirmed to avoid disappointment or inflated last-minute prices.
Confirm parking logistics before you arrive. Driving into the historic center can be challenging due to narrow streets and restricted traffic zones. Many central hotels do not have on-site parking but partner with nearby public garages. If you are renting a car, ask about drop-off points, daily rates, and whether you need a temporary access permit.
Prioritize air conditioning if visiting in July or August. Summer temperatures in Arles frequently exceed 30°C (86°F). Not all historic properties have modern climate control, and some rely on thick stone walls and fans. If heat sensitivity is a concern, verify that your room has individually controlled air conditioning.
Consider a pool for longer stays or family trips. A swimming pool becomes a genuine asset during the Provençal summer, especially if you plan to spend mornings sightseeing and afternoons relaxing. Several hotels on the city’s edge or just outside the center offer lovely pool areas without sacrificing easy access to the old town.
Check for elevator access if mobility is a concern. Many of Arles’ most charming hotels occupy centuries-old buildings where staircases are narrow and elevators are absent. If climbing stairs is difficult, request a ground-floor room or choose a property with a lift. Always confirm accessibility details directly with the hotel before booking.
Look for private outdoor space when celebrating a special occasion. A balcony overlooking a quiet square or a courtyard garden can transform an ordinary stay into something memorable. If you are marking an anniversary or birthday, mention it when booking—many boutique hotels will gladly arrange flowers, champagne, or a room upgrade when available.
The right hotel turns a visit to Arles from a simple sightseeing trip into a deeper experience of Provence. Waking up to church bells, stepping out for a morning coffee on a cobblestone square, and returning to a cool, comfortable room after a day of Roman ruins and rosé—these are the moments that linger long after you leave.
Take your time choosing a base that matches your rhythm. Whether you prefer the buzz of the city center or the serenity of a garden retreat just beyond the ramparts, Arles offers a remarkable range of places to rest. Book with confidence, travel with curiosity, and let this ancient city work its quiet magic on you.
