12 Best Cheap Hotels in Arles

Finding affordable accommodation in Arles does not mean sacrificing comfort, location, or the unique Provençal charm that makes this city so magical. While the city is famous for its Roman ruins and Van Gogh heritage, it is also a working town with a vibrant local culture, which means savvy travelers can find excellent budget-friendly stays.

Whether you are passing through on a road trip through the Camargue or planning an immersive art history weekend, a good night’s sleep shouldn’t break the bank. The key is knowing where to look—from converted historic townhouses to modern functional hotels on the city’s edge.

Many of the best cheap hotels in Arles offer incredible value by focusing on the essentials: clean rooms, friendly service, and prime locations that allow you to explore on foot. By saving money on your bed, you free up your budget for the incredible local cuisine and museum passes.

This guide focuses on properties that consistently deliver high ratings for cleanliness and hospitality while keeping nightly rates reasonable. We have prioritized locations that allow you to walk to the Amphitheatre or easily access public transport, ensuring you spend less time commuting and more time soaking in the atmosphere.

We understand that "cheap" is subjective, especially during the peak summer festivals like Les Rencontres d’Arles. However, these selections represent the best value for money within the budget category, offering transparent pricing and reliable amenities.

Below is a curated list of the 12 best budget-friendly hotels in Arles, carefully selected for their value, location, and guest satisfaction.

Friendly staff. So helpful they got us onto the internet BC you can't access the WiFi without a french number!! (How backward and discriminatory is that?! I'm sure it's against EU regulations too.) We didn't have soap in our room, it may have been an oversight, I feel like if we had asked for soap they would have given us some. There was no fuss about our dog, no deposit taken from us like has become en vogue in other hotels. Cheap enough so people on a normal income can consider staying. Overall I would highly recommend it if you just want a good night s sleep. Obviously it is a low budget hotel so you can't compare it with the Ritz but it was clean and comfortable and quiet. We had a good stay.

Ok, good location, free parking, central air conditioning. But the room is a bit small, no window, the toilet is a bit smelly, but overall it's good, just enough accommodation.
Jeannette Happ★★★★☆
We stopped there for a night and the beds are duper comfortable. Furthermore the hotel is petfriendly which was highly appreciated by our French Bulldog. The service was very friendly and there was always someone there in case we had questions. Good quality-price ratio.
Valentín Plaza★☆☆☆☆
The door did not open at our arrival (check the picture). The reception is supposed to open at 15h00. The receptionist came out of his room at 15h45. I guess he was resting from the hard and tiring job from the morning. He gave us a regular key to open the room. Wanna take a shower? No hot water. Dirty floor. At least the bed is ok.
Marcello Cabiale★☆☆☆☆
Very bad hotel. Waiting for a reimbursement since more than one year. Don't go there. Nobody is answering to my requests.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Room was clean, bed was great. Shower a bit tiny. Location is about a 20 minute walk from Arles city center. Easily accessible from the highway. Recommended for a short stay. Free parking space is available, enclosed at night (from 21.30 on).
Flor Mc F★★★★★
Wonderful hotel with free secured parking. Staff Elina and Virginie were fantastic and very accommodating. Breakfast was awesome and very complete. Only 25’ from the town center.

Basically everything was OK. The rooms were clean, we got the towels, the breakfast was tasty. The only thing is that they should supply some basic cosmetics such as soap. I would definitely choose this hotel again.
Fabiana Basso★★★★★
Relating the fact we are talking about a budget accomodation, I'm very satisfied; very good and smiling service, good breakfast, clean bed and secure door with a code, plus parking. I was with my family but I reccomand the solution also to women traveling alone.

Short review: the hotel was dirty and it stank. We're ok with cheap and cheerful as long as the place is clean. We ended up here because it was the only place available on a busy night in peak season. The price was low, granted, but no hotel should be allowed to operate in this condition. The room reeked as soon as we walked in: "it smells of smoked salmon", the fiancée lamented. And we hadn't opened the bathroom yet. It smelt of a mixture of a public toilet, a portakabin, and, somehow, the head on a dirty ferry between the islands on an Asian island. The smell was unbearable. The flushing didn't work well. It didn't work well in the room, and it didn't work at all in the public bathroom downstairs. We stayed there because we were going to spend next to no time in the room, but if I were Ibis I'd shut the place down until I brought it up to the standard that people expect when they see their name on a building. Oh, and there's no lift. It didn't bother us, but it's worth noting. Avoid the place at all costs until its properly refurbished.

Simple, clean and welcoming... what more does one want from a budget hotel? One could walk into the town centre ... but in a 37° heat wave it is not advisable. Better to take the bus or car and park in the Parking fe la Croisière.
Joao Nogueira★★★★☆
A simple budget hotel, but incredibly clean and fully equipped. Small rooms with private WC and shower, AC, cable TV and very good Wi-Fi.
Rhonda Dumas★☆☆☆☆
This place was the PITS! The most troubling part was the customer service. We traveled with a youth tour group. The students were given quad rooms, 4 beds from wall to wall. The kids had no place to even place their luggage! The front desk was less than accommodating when asked for another room. It took multiple attempts and many phone calls before we were, begrudgingly, given an additional room for our kids to sleep comfortably. The rooms were very small. The bathroom shower wasn’t even big enough to allow my roommate to wash her hair. The smell in the bathroom was revolting. I am sure the bathrooms weren’t cleaned at all. The smell of urine was evident. Since the rooms were ridiculously small for our students and too small for adults to congregate we wanted to use the common area. When we came downstairs the common area was closed and locked by 9pm, although they weren’t supposed to close until 10. The second night when we tried to gather in the common area the receptionist told us that it closed at 8, slammed the door in one of our parents faces and wouldn’t allow us in, although they weren’t supposed to close until 10. They eventually allowed us to use the space until 10, but warned that we should not take a mess!
Eileen McCoy★★★★☆
For the price it's as one would expect. Small rooms, very basic. It was clean and close to the autoroute. It's actually an older building in the commercial center, so on a Sunday most everything was shut, which was very quiet. Bed was comfortable and climatization worked during the canticle. Breakfast was basic. Staff works hard to take care of needs.
Marlena Schwenck★☆☆☆☆
Do yourself a favor and just spend the night in jail instead. You could literally see the springs in the mattress and all they give you for blankets is a thin paper-like sheet. The man at the front was nice but no one was around at night to get a blanket from.

Probably the best Ibis Budget I've ever been to. It shares location with a Ibis Styles and so the breakfast is awesome and you have access to a free swiming pool! The rooms are spartan, equipped just like a regular Ibis Budget, but they're huge (the size of the Styles rooms). The Wi-fi is super fast and the air-conditioning system very quiet and efficient... The restaurant is not cheap, but the food is delicious! Perfect choice for a short stay in Provence/Camargue
Liubov and English★★★★☆
We just stayed for a night. Everything went well - the accommodation was comfortable, the staff very welcoming. One thing that I'd complain about is the fact that in the room description at booking there was information that there's a bath or a shower which wasn't the case in the end. I was specifically looking for an accommodation with a bath and when contacted the hotel I was told that there's no bath option - why write that in the description then?
Grace Rodriguez★☆☆☆☆
For €200+ a night, this was a huge disappointment. I understand Ibis is an entry level hotel, but at that price, I expected a much better experience. The breakfast was especially underwhelming, with a very limited selection and overall poor quality that didn’t justify the cost. The hotel itself is functional, but the value for money simply isn’t there.
Meilir Jones★★★★☆
This is what you expect from an Ibis Budget. I particularly liked the size of the room and the friendliness of the staff, with free pastries on the reception desk! The hotel is not located in the very centre of Arles (it felt like a good 20-min walk), hence the slightly cheaper price, but there was a very convenient bus stop outside the hotel for a bus that took you quickly to the centre and to the train station.
andy morton★☆☆☆☆
This is a rundown, 2 star (at best) cheap hotel that needs a really good clean, from the air-con outlets to the hall carpets. The approach road to the hotel is littered with rubbish. The breakfast and reception staff (when you get to the front of the queue) were ok. We had £250 stolen from our locked room, we told the staff and the manager didn't bother to speak to us about it himself. You get what you pay for. Cheap and shoddy.

Value for money is great. It is a low cost solution after all. We needed a place to sleep for a night on the way to the Alpes. The only notable problem was there is only one place to plug in to charge a phone and it was in the bathroom.

We had a balcony room overlooking the city and the bluff. Great people watching. Room was spotless and well appointed. Location near many restaurants and stores. Recommend.

An oasis in this little town. Delicious and tasty food. Great services. Magnificent terrace and shadow. Good menu and interesting pizza crust. Tips: The apricot tiramisu is not a tiramisu, but is very good. The Leffe draft beer is a good choice.

Plat du jour, excellent. My husband had duck breast; I had tuna steak. The appetizer of the day was mache & half an avocado. Dessert was apple tart with cream. All lovely, great friendly service, very reasonably priced. We'll return.🇫🇷😊

What a lovely place this is! Thank you so much Zohra and all other members of the team for making us feel so welcome during our stay earlier this month. So generous to invite us to enjoy the pool and the other hotel facilities until late on our checking out day, while waiting for our bus to leave in the evening. Not to mention the rich breakfast and abundant dinner on your wonderful terrace, the safe place for our bicycles, and the warm and pleasant contact with the staff. If hospitality is about making people feel at home, no hotel in the world could do better. A hidden gem just outside the city center. We'll definitely come again if we ever get the chance! Renee and Coert, Amsterdam

My stay was a very pleasent experience. I was there with a group and the staff always made sure to tend to our wishes, like earlier breakfast for example. The pool was nice, the owners and staff are kind and the whole stay was worth every penny!

Bad room. Everything is very old.The curtains/blackout is damaged, so at 6 am you have the sun in your room. Also from 7 am you have so much noise in the room, I assume from the kitchen. The cleaning is bad as well. We had no towels in the bathroom. They also forgot some cleaning products in the bathroom.
Michael Riley★★★★★
We were staying at the nearby campsite, L'Arlesienne and wanted a beer but everywhere in the area was closed. So we popped our heads around the door and asked if we could have a drink and sit on the terrace. I think they were shutting up shop for the evening, but they were really kind and obliging. And we sat for 20 minutes enjoying a cold beer. Thank you for your hospitality to two thirsty English motorhomers and we wish you well.
Rosalie Hanke★★★★★
I highly recommend this hotel. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The pool is clean and the rooms are insect free and air conditioned. All in all I’ve had a really good experience.

When I entered my hotel room late at night, I was shocked to find that it hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. There was trash on the floor, empty wine bottles, no towels, unmade beds, and the bed linens clearly hadn’t been changed. In short, the room was completely unfit for occupancy. I went down to the reception to report the issue, but the staff member told me that no other rooms were available and that there was nothing he could do. He offered me two unacceptable options: stay in the dirty room or find another hotel to book — and this was at 2 a.m. In the end, I had no choice but to book a room in another city. I did not stay at the original hotel, yet the reception refused to provide a refund or even return the €100 deposit. Seriously? I didn’t even stay in the room. I have been a loyal guest of Ibis hotels for years, but after this experience, it’s highly unlikely I will ever choose to stay with this hotel chain again.

It was a simple place , bank beds style .... close by a Mc Donalds that was perfect for us because we only wanted to rest from a few days of motorbike journey to Croatia Harley Davidson event .... so couldn't be better eheheheheh

Again, quality for money. Second night in a row in ibis, so can easily compare. This Ibis is new, has McDonald in 50m, which is amazing. New building, everything is pretty clean and modern. Room doesn't feel small. The 2nd level bed is comfortable for adult 1.90m height. Bathroom is clean and fresh, with good ventilation. Breakfast is pretty humble, but this is a usual thing in budget hotels like ibis. Parking available, a lot of space.
Christoffer Isip★★★★★
Close to our company. Basic and affordable rooms, basic breakfast. No scambled eggs though. Bar and restaurant at the ground floor. Game boards, cards, etc. are available at the lobby. Lots of parking space, electric cars charger available. Nearby a gas station, restaurant, McDonalds, and the highway. Staff speak English. On our 3rd of 5 days, there were no food for breakfast when we got to the restaurant. But the rest of the days were good!

!!! Catastrophic Weekend !!! I urge you to read the other one-star reviews: small room, no fresh water, bare minimum at reception, questionable cleanliness... We came for a wedding. We wanted a nice little hotel for two nights over the weekend... Returning from the wedding at 2:00 AM, we parked in a parking lot that was actually a market square near the hotel. It was dark and we were tired, so we didn't realize it was a market square for the next day. The following day (a Sunday), we learned that the car was impounded in Nîmes. The police contacted the hotel to ask if we were staying there so they could just move our car: they replied NO. The result: a €35 parking ticket (which is normal) + €140 impound fees and another day in the south having to manage without a car because the hotel couldn't even find our names on their list and share it. The Saint Gilles municipal police were excellent and gave us clear directions on how to retrieve the car. This isn't the first time this hotel has pulled this stunt. They don't warn you or provide any information. Avoid it.

We had a great stay at this hotel. The automatic check-in process was very easy, and accessing both the hotel and our room was simple and hassle-free. The hotel also has a large car park with easy access, which was very convenient during our journey. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, allowing us to get a good night's sleep. In the morning, we really enjoyed the breakfast. There was a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options, and everything looked appetising. Overall, this was an excellent experience, especially considering the price. We only needed a place to stay for one night while travelling, and it exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and excellent value-for-money hotel.
Bud Snapdragon★★★★★
I had a great experience at this hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was well-equipped in a modern and clean environment. The location is also very convenient — there’s a McDonald’s and another restaurant right across the street. The large parking lot was a big plus, as it was easy to find a spot anytime. I would definitely stay here again!

Please do some cleaning!! The smell on the floors is disgusting! As soon as we steped out of the elevator the smell hit us. Also, clean the floors of the rooms better. There is dust. The entrance of the hotel has spots and dirt, you can barely open the front door. Clean the damn place!

Our room was so hot in the afternoon it is awful. I called the receptionist and she said she has to adjust the temperature from her reception computer. Why do they not let the guest adjust their own room temperature and have to go to the receptionist? Even after calling it is still very hot. Not acceptable.
Junaid Shaikh★★★★★
The receptionist ....(oops forgot the spell)... was excellent in communication, otherwise I would have had a tough time. She was very kind. Room was just ok for living, had difficulty with the bathing space (too small). The amenities were great and well maintained.
Augustin Gavrilescu★★★★☆
There are multiple good things about this hotel and one bad thing. The good. It is clean. The rooms are spacious. Very important and appreciated: the water dispensers in a lot of places. Breakfast was up to standards with choices. A lot of effort on the decor, that is special. Nicely renovated with some interesting features. It is an experience. There is a swimming pool. Arcade game, the kids love it. The BAD. It is near the highway and during night the passing trucks were making irregular constant noice. I am sure there are a lot of rooms less exposed to the noise. My bad I did not asked and did not take my earplugs ( lesson learned). If was not this it could have been easier a 5star.

We had a very nice stay, visiting the region during the day and enjoying the calm atmosphere of the hotel at night. The pool and gardens are amazing, Arles city is not too far by car or on a rental bike via the old bridge. The team at the hotel is very welcoming and the chickens are very friendly. we will definitely come back, thank you

I stumbled upon this gem after having no place to stay due to a double booking on VRBO, and I couldn’t have been happier! From the moment I arrived, the staff went out of their way to make me feel at home. The owner takes pride in his place, and it shows. He does his rounds at breakfast and checks in with his patrons to ensure they are enjoying their stay. My room was clean, tastefully decorated, and came with a little terrace with a table and chairs, that quickly became one of my favourite spots. There is a welcoming bar, and plenty of space to relax inside or outdoors, making it easy to unwind. Breakfast was my highlight every morning, both for the food and the setting. I especially enjoyed the two chickens outside my room, walking around the property, adding to its charm ! The location worked perfectly for me —easy to access by car with self-parking available, yet just a short stroll into the historic center where I enjoyed the local bakeries and shops. I spent a 4 days here, and enjoyed every minute of it. Though I didn’t dip into the pool, it added to the appeal of this peaceful hideaway. Exceptional value for the comfort and tranquility I found.
Utpal Bose★★★☆☆
Our room, being next to the stairs on the first floor, was noisy with people talking as they passed by. It was noisier with a party happening on a patio just below our window all evening until 10:30 PM. The WiFi was inconsistent—dropping connection frequently. Furniture was almost non-existent, with no chair and a small side table placed at the end of the bed. Stepping out of the bathtub will be a challenge for older people because the bathtub sides are too high.
Jack Ronan★★★★★
I didn't stay here, but i cannot wait to stay... i was saved by the owner, when my bike broke and I was walking for a long time! Frederick is a legend of a man, and has a heart of gold. No doubt his hotel is outstanding!
Sandy Rademaker★★★★★
This place was a very pleasant surprise after 4 weeks of traveling. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. Our room was spotless, with modern decor and bathroom. We had a small terrace which we enjoyed. The public spaces were very inviting and if you wanted a drink from the bar you could relax inside or on the patio. This did not feel like a typical hotel, there was a feeling of visiting family. The breakfast room was great, as was the breakfast. The location is convenient, right off the main road with parking on site. A short walk brought us to the old part of town where we could grab something from the boulangerie or the small market. We stayed for a week and hated to leave. There is a pool, which we did not use. It was a quiet restful retreat at an excellent price.

Tips for Booking Cheap Hotels in Arles

Finding a true bargain in this historic city requires a bit of strategy and flexibility. The difference between a standard rate and a great deal often comes down to timing and your willingness to adapt your travel plans slightly. By understanding the local tourism rhythm, you can secure a comfortable room without exhausting your wallet, leaving more resources for experiences rather than overheads.

1. Travel in the Shoulder Season

Arles experiences extreme peaks during the summer photography festival (July to September) and the Feria. Hotel prices can double or triple during these periods. Visiting in late spring (May to June) or early autumn (October) offers beautiful Provençal weather with significantly lower accommodation costs and fewer crowds at the Roman ruins.

2. Look Beyond the Old Town Walls

While staying inside the historic center is atmospheric, you pay a premium for the address. Consider hotels located just outside the old city boundaries, near the train station or across the Trinquetaille bridge. These areas are often a pleasant 10-minute walk to the main sights but offer much more competitive nightly rates.

3. Utilize the Train Station Proximity

If you are using Arles as a base to explore Nîmes, Avignon, or Marseille, staying near the Gare d’Arles can save you money on taxis and time on public transit. Hotels in this district are often newer and priced lower than those in the medieval center, providing modern amenities like elevators and soundproofing.

4. Book Direct for Breakfast Deals

While third-party booking sites are great for comparing prices, always check the hotel’s official website. Many independent budget hotels in Arles offer "direct booking" bonuses, such as a free continental breakfast or a discounted rate for multi-night stays, which can add significant value to your trip.

5. Check for Air Conditioning and Parking Fees

A "cheap" room can become expensive if you have to pay €15–€20 a day for parking or if the room lacks air conditioning during a sweltering Provençal summer. Always read the fine print regarding amenities. Some budget hotels offer free street parking nearby, while others charge for secure lots; factor this into your total cost.

Arles is a city that rewards the curious traveler, and finding a great value hotel ensures your journey is defined by the beauty of the Rhône and the echo of history, not by financial stress. The right budget accommodation serves as a quiet, comfortable retreat after a long day of walking cobblestone streets and exploring sun-drenched ruins.

Whether you choose a simple room overlooking a quiet square or a practical base near the station, you will find that the hospitality in Arles is warm and welcoming. With a little planning and these recommendations in hand, you are ready to experience the heart of Provence without overspending.
