12 Best Asian Restaurants in Dijon

Dijon may be world-famous for its mustard, but the capital of Burgundy has quietly become one of France’s most exciting food cities. Beyond the classic boeuf bourguignon and coq au vin, the city offers a surprisingly diverse international dining scene. For locals and visitors craving bold flavors, the Asian restaurant landscape here is particularly impressive, ranging from delicate sushi counters to fiery Sichuan kitchens.

Navigating the culinary backstreets of Dijon can be overwhelming, especially when you are looking for authenticity rather than a generic tourist trap. The best spots are often hidden in plain sight, tucked away on cobblestone lanes or near the bustling Les Halles market. Whether you are a student looking for a steaming bowl of ramen or a family seeking a lavish Thai feast, there is a table waiting for you.

In this guide, we have curated a list of the standout Asian dining experiences in the city. We focused on quality of ingredients, consistency of service, and the ability to transport your taste buds across the globe. From the umami depth of Japanese broths to the aromatic spice of Vietnamese pho, this selection represents the pinnacle of Eastern cuisine in the heart of France.

We understand that dietary preferences vary, which is why we have highlighted venues that excel in vegetarian options, gluten-free awareness, and halal-friendly menus where applicable. These restaurants are not just places to eat; they are cultural hubs where the precision of Asian cooking meets the rich wine culture of Burgundy. You will find that many of these chefs have trained extensively in their native countries before bringing their craft to France.

Before we dive into the specific venues, it is worth noting that Dijon’s dining culture values reservation etiquette. While some spots welcome walk-ins for a quick lunch, dinner services, particularly on weekends, often book up days in advance. We highly recommend calling ahead to secure a table, especially if you are traveling in a group or visiting during the tourist season.

Without further delay, here are the twelve best Asian restaurants in Dijon that you absolutely need to try.

Delicious homemade dim sum, gyoza, and xiao long bao in Dijon 🥟 The portions are big, the prices are reasonable, and they offer a wide variety of bubble tea 🧋 If you're looking for something light, tasty, and great value for money, I highly recommend this place 😉
Kinki Lye★★★★☆
This is our first time trying this Asian restaurant. The food is good with reasonable price. The service is normal, and the place is small and cosy. They do have soy sauce, Chinese vinegar, and chili sauce if you want to eat like the real Chinese. I would like to come back to try their noodles.
Vincenzo Di Cosmo★★★★★
Excellent dumplings (we had steamed pork & cabbage), beef soup was also very good! Friendly service and clean space.

Great authentic food, fast friendly service, lovely quiet atmosphere!

Hearty portions, delicious food. We tried several ramen bowls and all of them were exceptional. We also had dumplings and spring rolls and both were tasty and fresh made. I would absolutely eat at this restaurant again.

great Papaya salad, we also enjoyed the Kaeng Daeng and the Pad Ka Praw as main dishes accompanied by some Singha beers very well, the food was outstanding and the service was friendly
Pat H★★★★★
We stopped here after the Michelin Restaurant down the street told us they were booked and our reservation was for the next night. After reviewing the menu and ordering the starter bottle of Bordeaux and dinner, we were told that they were out of that bottle but would upgrade us to a first cru for an additional 10 euros. Bien sur, of course! The wine arrived quickly and was presented well followed by our appetizers and main course within 10 minutes. The wine was delicious, of course, and the Peking duck, while not crispy, was flavorful and plentiful. The Pad Thai and shrimp was perfect, and being gluten free, was happy the noodles were rice. Nice ambiance, friendly speedy service and reasonably priced food makes this restaurant a 5 star. We weren’t surprised it was 4.9 after randomly stopping to get out of the rain. Sainte!

Simply excellent Thai cuisine. Family operated business and they could not have been nicer or more helpful. We had take away on Monday and returned Tuesday for a second meal. Two young men that helped me spoke excellent English, for which I was grateful.

Very poor delivery service. I got my delivery 15min later the time promised. The employees who work at the counter are not at all professional. They don't even bother to reply when you say bonjour. I hope they will improve themselves.

Food was delicious, of course - they made the wok I asked. But fhey used very little chicken and veggies, and most of the food was noodles.
Yosief fitsum agostino★★★★★
One of the best food i tasted 😋 and not expensive at all for me so I really love it 😍 thank you my wok
Vincent★★☆☆☆
The food isn't bad but sometimes closed without explanation, plus I don't think it's fair to pay extra 0,80€ for basic ingredients such as coriander or peanuts

We ate lunch at this cute restaurant. The green Thai chicken curry with rice was really good, and I think the curry was made in house. My husband had Bobun beef and he liked it, even with the somewhat unusual wider noodles. We both had a glass of wine with a generous pour. Good and friendly service and our food was served quickly.
Margaret Griffin★☆☆☆☆
AVOID AT ALL COSTS This is not a Thai restaurant I’m struggling even to give it one star DIABOLICAL FOOD tastes nothing like Thai food, the chef is not from Thailand and probably never visited Thailand. TASTLESS FOOD having been to Thailand on many occasions there was no flavour whatsoever in any of the dishes dry chicken, massaman curry NOT a curry truthfully the noodles were the worst I’ve ever had in my life. To provide food this bad is an art. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE you will find in this area. The woman who runs the restaurant is quite simply in the wrong job. Her attitude/table service is at the lowest level you will find here. So many beautiful restaurants here this place lets the area down so badly. I have no idea why this place has some good reviews. Shocking place, if you want to waste your money and time. Go here.
Martijn Leijten★★★★★
We had a delicious and very affordable meal here. The green curry was delicious and the pad thai was even better. The main courses are also very affordable. We shared 3 starters and they are also highly recommended. Inside you sit comfortably. Although a slightly more Thai interior would make it even more complete.
Sins Of Wanderlust★★★★★
Roomy restaurant just outside of the centre of old Dijon. All dishes were fresh, authentic, and flavorful. We asked for spicy, and it was just as expected. Good selection of drinks. Friendly staff.

Worst rice and chicken I've ever had. Not as described, it was just plain white rice with lots of mayonnaise (on rice... Really?) and the tiniest sprinkling of fried chicken on top. No vegetables, no flavour, just disappointment.

The concept was really cool and my husband and I had a great time here. The prices were great and the waiters spoke English well. The actual sushi was just ok, but that's to be expected from conveyor belt sushi. We would definitely come back if we're ever visiting Dijon again!

A wonderful discovery of Korean cuisine at this new restaurant. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. Perfect service. I highly recommend it!
Man H.★★★★★
Authentic Korean cuisine prepared by a Korean. My son, who is used to eating at Asian restaurants, especially Japanese and Korean, really enjoyed it. We chose the platter with the bibimbap, which was very good. As someone who loves spicy food, I really enjoyed it; I even sneaked a little sauce from my husband's plate, who isn't used to it, and since it was placed in the center of the plate, he didn't mind, and I was able to enjoy it too 😅😋 The young couple who run the restaurant are very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The wife took the time to explain each dish to us. The place is intimate, and it's best to make a reservation. We went for lunch on Ascension Thursday, and it was full.

Tips for Choosing the Right Asian Restaurant in Dijon

Selecting the perfect spot for dinner involves more than just scrolling through a menu; it requires a bit of local know-how. The dining rhythm in Dijon differs slightly from larger French metros like Paris or Lyon, with many kitchens closing between lunch and dinner service. To help you navigate the scene like a local and ensure your meal is memorable for all the right reasons, keep the following practical tips in mind.

1. Check the "Service Continu" Hours

Many high-quality Asian restaurants in Dijon adhere to traditional French dining hours, meaning they close between 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM. If you are jet-lagged or simply prefer eating on a different schedule, look specifically for venues advertising "service continu" (continuous service). These are the lifesavers where you can get a hot bowl of noodles at 4:00 PM when most of the city is shuttered.

2. Ask About the Spice Level Authenticity

French palates have historically been sensitive to heat, but Dijon’s student population has driven a demand for authentic fire. If you are visiting a Thai or Sichuan restaurant, don’t hesitate to specify your preference. Saying "très épicé" (very spicy) or "piquant authentique" signals to the kitchen that you want the real deal, not the toned-down tourist version.

3. Look Beyond the "Menu Étudiant"

Dijon is a university town, and many Asian eateries offer heavily discounted student menus during the week. While these are great for a budget, they often feature simplified or heavily French-adapted dishes. If you are a foodie looking for depth of flavor, skip the budget set menu and order à la carte from the chef’s specialties or the "suggestions" board.

4. Pairing Wine with Asian Cuisine

You are in Burgundy, so ignoring the wine list is a mistake. The high acidity of a local Bourgogne Aligoté cuts through the fat of fried spring rolls and tempura beautifully. For richer dishes like Korean BBQ or sweet and sour preparations, ask your server for a Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits; its earthy profile surprisingly complements soy and ginger-based sauces.

5. Verify Payment and Reservation Methods

While contactless payment is widespread, some smaller, family-run establishments in the historic center may still prefer cash for small transactions or have minimum card limits. Additionally, many top-tier spots do not use online booking platforms; a quick phone call is often the only way to reserve. Learning a few French pleasantries before you call goes a long way in securing a prime table.

Exploring the Asian food scene in Dijon offers a refreshing counterpoint to the heavy, cream-based classics of Burgundy. It proves that this historic city is not stuck in the past but is evolving into a cosmopolitan hub where tradition and global influence coexist beautifully. Whether you are craving the delicate slice of sashimi or the charred edges of a wok-fried noodle dish, the chefs here deliver with passion and precision.

As you wander the streets of the old town, let your nose guide you toward the scent of lemongrass, toasted sesame, and simmering broths. The restaurants listed above represent the very best of what the city has to offer, ensuring that your culinary journey through Dijon is as diverse as it is delicious. Bon appétit!
