Biarritz may be synonymous with Atlantic surf breaks and Basque Country elegance, but its culinary landscape extends far beyond fresh oysters and pintxos. Over the last decade, the city has quietly cultivated a dynamic Asian food scene that rivals many larger French metropolitan areas. From steaming bowls of ramen that cut through the coastal chill to refined sushi platters that celebrate the local fishing culture, the Asian dining options here offer a compelling contrast to the region’s traditional butter-rich cuisine.
What makes the Asian restaurant scene in Biarritz so unique is its commitment to fusion without losing authenticity. Chefs in this coastal town understand that the local palate appreciates high-quality seafood, and they leverage the daily catches from the Port des Pêcheurs to elevate classic recipes. Whether you are a local looking for a break from duck confit or a traveler seeking comfort food with an oceanic twist, Biarritz delivers a surprising depth of flavors ranging from Thai curries to Vietnamese pho.
Navigating the dining landscape in a tourist-heavy town can be tricky, as quality can sometimes be overshadowed by prime real estate and ocean views. To help you cut through the noise, we have focused on establishments that prioritize culinary technique, fresh ingredients, and genuine hospitality. This guide is not just a list of addresses; it is a curated journey through the best woks, sushi counters, and noodle houses that this Basque surf capital has to offer.
Many of these restaurants are tucked away on side streets in the Les Halles district or nestled near the Côte des Basques, often requiring a bit of local knowledge to find. However, the search is always rewarded with intimate dining rooms and menus crafted with care. Whether you are looking for a quick lunch spot after a morning surf session or a sophisticated dinner setting for a date night, there is an Asian table in Biarritz waiting to impress you.
As with any coastal town, seasonality plays a significant role in the dining experience. During the summer months, reservations are essential, as the population swells and the best tables are booked out days in advance. In the off-season, you will find a slower pace, often with the chef coming out to discuss the menu and the provenance of the fish, offering a more personalized and immersive experience.
Without further ado, here is our curated selection of the best spots to satisfy your cravings for sushi, noodles, curries, and everything in between in the heart of the French Basque Country.

Asian fusion with a great vibe, superb drinks and wonderful service. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at OKO during our recent visit to Biarritz. We stopped by on a Saturday night for drinks and were amazed by the quality and originality of the cocktails crafted by Jezabel (OKO's mixologist). We were so impressed that we decided to return the following evening for dinner and more drinks. The food is a combination of Asian cuisine. We especially liked the Korean BBQ chicken, fried rice and gyoza. Juliette provided us with service in the dining room and she could not have been more friendly and professional. We finished the evening back at the bar where Jezabel amazed us with her unique and delicious cocktails. We especially enjoyed her Mumbai Dirty Chai and Caipirinuts cocktails. I highly recommend OKO if you are in Biarritz.

Very good sushi and service, and also the prive related to quality. The only thing I suggest is to improve the tables in terrace, the chairs are not so confortable to pass a dinner night. Maybe they are ok for a cocktail… 🙂

Wonderful little sushi place in Biarritz. We tried several maki rolls (fave was the rainbow roll) and the pork belly bao. The bao was awesome!

Oko had the most gorgeous and delicious food. We had the best sushi rolls ever. The waiters were great and patient with our poor french. Would give food 100% but would have like chairs that were a little more comfortable or provide a small cushion.

Had a fantastic experience at this Korean restaurant. I ordered the seiche bokkum, while my wife had the kimchi jjigae, and both dishes were excellent, rich in flavor and truly authentic. You can really tell the ingredients and preparation stay true to Korean cuisine.
Beyond the food, the service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and vibrant. Definitely a place we would return to when visiting Biarritz.

Well who’d have expected to find this fine Korean restaurant in Biarritz of all places. The food was perfection. The May Garen (black egg) is one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted and I don’t like eggs. We took the BBQ tasting menu and there were many times when eyes rolled to the back of our heads in pleasure. And the service, I whispered gluten free and GF dishes appeared. And don’t forget to try a cocktail (yum!). Great service, beautiful wait staff. An absolute must visit. I’m planning my return already!

Very nice space. We had Korean barbecue. The meat was high-quality and all sides were super and felt like taken from a street in Seoul. We have been to Korea a lot and this place is definitely up there among the best Korean dishes that we’ve had. This is a gem that’s a bit hidden away on the outskirts of central Biarritz, well worth a slight detour. Very nice service as sugar on top!

Amazing food, finally legit Korean food in Biarritz! And really warm service, we loved the staff!
Thibault Fortuny★★★★★
Amazing spot. Very nice concept, where you grill your own meat / vegetables. We tried the "discovery" meat platter consisting in marinated beef, regular beef, and pork. They were all extra tender and tasty, and served with sides of rice, fresh vegetables, kimchi, leek salad, red cabbage and lettuce. Plenty of very tasty food, served on a convivial style table with the grill in the middle, nice wine list and very nice service. Would highly recommend, and will come back! Thank you.

We took 2 pastas (checken and schrimp). Both were sauer. 4 schrips in my pasta was defenetly tasty.
Oktopus balls was interested, but just 1-2 small pcs of Oktopus meat was inside. Think 9 euros its realy overestimated price for 4 balls.
Match cocktail with Whiskey was good. If you like match, i would recommend to try.
Service was good, girls were nice and smiley.

Absolute drama.
Everything was closed as always in France in the normal dinner time. So we ended here, were allowed get a takeaway…. This was the worst “wok” for the highest price we ever payed for this kind of food.
Food was so bad that we gave up and had to throw it away along with our money…and continued our travel hungry. Can’t understand how difficult it must be in a turistic place to offer any decent place to eat open in normal work hours.

We were rushing to catch a flight, and wanted to have an early dinner at 6.30pm. They were not open for dinner, but had ready made stuff for take away. The lady boss took pity on us and our screaming kids and allowed us to eat there (with full service even!). We were amazed at the quality of food, and ordered more than we initially did after tasting the food. Amazing Vietnamese food! 5 star food with 6 star service. Definitely a must visit in Biarritz!

The best Japanese restaurant in Biarritz! We went there for lunch and had a truly wonderful dining experience. The chicken was very flavorful and tender as butter. Both the ramen and the Japanese curry were delicious. The owner is very friendly. We’ll definitely be back.
RATCHA B★★★★★
Very nice Japanese restaurant (I really mean it! ) with a reasonable price.
We went there for the Monday lunch.
The food was well- prepared.
We had 2 entrés, the chicken karaké and soup. There was incredibly good. The chicken karaké is well seasoning so you don't even need the sauce to eat with. The miso soup was delicious.
Then, I had ramen noodles which pretty good but for me I would love more if it's more spicy. My husband had a suggestion of the day which turn out a lunch set with miso soup, rice, long beam salad and deep-fried pork which so so good.
The homemade dessert is also good too.
We will go back again for sure

Great authentic Japanese restaurant! We had lunch for two people, one cold ramen and fried pork. The cold ramen was delicious and I was surprised by the delicate presentation on my plate. Completely recommend it, it was a nice surprise and I would definitely go there again.

We walked in and were not greeted at all. We eventually ordered smoothies, which were delicious, but the young man working there clearly didn’t seem interested in his job. He kept sighing while taking our order, and after we ordered, he went outside for a cigarette. He only came back about 15 minutes later to prepare our drinks. In total, we had to wait around 25 minutes.
The smoothies were really good, but it was disappointing that we had to wait so long and that we received such an unfriendly welcome.

We were lucky enough to have Pania during a wedding editorial shoot, and his presence was a real asset throughout the day.
His cuisine is as delicious as it is generous, prepared with great care and passion. But beyond his culinary talent, Pania proved invaluable at every moment. Always available, responsive, and ready to lend a hand, he adapted to every situation with infectious energy and good humor. A true all-rounder!
A radiant, passionate, and deeply human chef, he brings so much more than just his cuisine: a reassuring, professional, and warm presence that makes all the difference.

Not our first time here but definitely not our last either. It’s not tourist season yet so our dinner experience went well. Calm ambiance, good and efficient service and good food.
Considering it’s not easy to find a good Chinese restaurant in this part of the world, this is a jewel.
Their duck is not like other restaurants and having it with the sauce already there, keeps the meat moist and tasty.
Even the decoration is appropriate considering the location of the restaurant. Definitely recommend.

The menu is exhausting. Way too many dishes. The beaf and noodles sup, is nice apart from the beef and the noodles. The chicken and Chinese mushroom main dish was not possible to consume. Luckily I ordered a fried rice which was good but veeeeeery greasy. I would come again only if it was the only restaurant in beautiful Beatriz.

Tips for Choosing the Right Asian Restaurant in Biarritz
While Biarritz offers a high density of quality restaurants, not every Asian eatery is created equal. The convergence of tourism and high rent can sometimes lead to diluted flavors or inflated prices. To ensure you have the best possible dining experience, consider these practical tips before you book a table or walk in for a meal.
1. Follow the Local Fishing Schedule
Because Biarritz is a working fishing port, the quality of sushi and sashimi can vary depending on the weather and the season. Look for restaurants that advertise "catch of the day" or that have a close relationship with local fishermen. If you see local line-caught tuna (thon rouge) or European sea bass (bar) on the menu, order it. It will almost always be superior to imported frozen fish.
2. Distinguish Between Fusion and Tradition
Decide what kind of experience you want before you go. Some restaurants in Biarritz excel at "French-Asian" fusion, incorporating foie gras or Basque peppers into Japanese dishes. While this can be brilliant, it is not for purists. If you want authentic regional Chinese or Thai food, look for menus that are not afraid to list offal, fermented ingredients, or high levels of spice, which often indicate a commitment to traditional cooking rather than tourist-friendly adaptations.
3. Look Beyond the Beachfront
While dining with a view of the Grande Plage is romantic, the restaurants located directly on the seafront often pay a premium for their location, which can sometimes be reflected in higher prices for average food. To find the best value and the most authentic cooking, venture a few blocks inland. The areas surrounding Rue Gambetta and Les Halles are often where the locals eat and where you will find hidden gems focused purely on the food.
4. Check the Spice Levels
If you are visiting a Thai, Szechuan, or Indian-Asian fusion spot, don’t be shy about asking for "Asian spicy" rather than "French spicy." In France, the default tolerance for heat is often lower than in the native countries of the cuisine. If you are a chili lover, politely asking the staff to make the dish "très épicé, comme en Asie" (very spicy, like in Asia) will often result in the chef bringing out the good chili oil from the back.
5. Verify Opening Days and Hours
Biarritz operates on a distinctly French rhythm, and many of the best restaurants are closed for two or three days a week, often Sunday through Tuesday, especially in the off-season. Additionally, kitchens usually close between lunch and dinner service (roughly 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM). Always call ahead or check the restaurant’s social media for current hours before making the trek across town, as an unexpected closure can derail your evening plans.
6. Reserve for Dinner, Walk-in for Lunch
Biarritz is a popular destination year-round, but dinner service is a sacred ritual here. Even on a quiet Wednesday in October, the most popular Asian restaurants will fill up by 8:30 PM. A quick phone call earlier in the day is usually sufficient to secure a table. However, lunch is often a much more casual affair. If you failed to plan ahead, arriving right at 12:00 PM for lunch is your best bet to snag a seat at a top spot without a reservation.
The Asian dining scene in Biarritz is a testament to the city’s evolving and cosmopolitan character. It proves that a town rooted in Basque tradition can embrace the delicate artistry of Japanese sushi, the fiery heat of Thai basil, and the comforting warmth of Vietnamese pho without losing its identity. These restaurants offer a delicious counterpoint to the heavier local fare, providing a lighter, spice-driven alternative that pairs beautifully with a day spent in the salt air.
Whether you are ending a long day of surfing with a hearty bowl of noodles or starting a romantic evening with meticulously sliced sashimi, the options highlighted in this guide promise quality and consistency. So step away from the familiar terraces for a moment, follow the scent of lemongrass and toasted sesame oil down a cobblestone side street, and discover a different side of Biarritz’s vibrant palate.
