12 Best Aesthetic Cafes in Biarritz

Biarritz has long carried a reputation for grandeur, surfing, and sweeping Atlantic views, but its café culture tells a quieter, more textured story. Beyond the grand facades of the Belle Époque buildings and the salty rush of the Grande Plage, a new wave of interior design has taken hold. Here, espresso is no longer just a quick caffeine fix; it is an experience wrapped in terracotta textures, curated ceramics, and sun-drenched corners.

The aesthetic café scene in this Basque coastal town is not about cold, minimalist uniformity. It is deeply influenced by the surrounding landscape—think sandy neutrals, oceanic blues, and the warmth of Spanish-influenced architecture. Local owners have leaned into organic materials, rattan furniture, and handcrafted stoneware to create spaces that feel both aspirational and deeply comforting. The result is a circuit of venues where the visual atmosphere is just as important as the quality of the roast.

For the design-savvy traveler, finding these spaces requires looking past the main tourist arteries. Some of the most photogenic interiors are tucked away in the Les Halles district or perched on quiet residential corners. They serve as meeting points for local creatives, remote workers, and surfers coming off the waves at Côte des Basques. Each venue offers a distinct visual signature, from sun-bleached wood to bold, sculptural lighting.

The coffee itself has undergone a renaissance here. Baristas are sourcing beans from local roasters and treating the craft with the same precision found in Paris or Copenhagen. You will find specialty flat whites alongside traditional Basque pastries like gateau basque, creating a bridge between global coffee trends and regional identity. It is this blend of the local and the international that defines the aesthetic movement in Biarritz.

However, "aesthetic" is subjective. For some, it means a space that photographs beautifully in natural light; for others, it is the tactile feel of a handmade mug or the visual calm of a neutral color palette. In curating the following list, the focus has been placed on venues that offer a cohesive sensory experience. These are places where the lighting, the furniture, the plating, and the menu design all speak the same visual language.

Whether you are hunting for the perfect flat lay, seeking inspiration for your own home renovation, or simply wanting to drink excellent coffee in a beautiful room, this guide covers the essentials. The venues below represent the best of Biarritz’s current design scene, balancing the town’s historic charm with a forward-thinking, modern aesthetic.

Stumbled on this place by chance, apparently they just opened. Had a really good iced matcha latte with coconut milk. Highly recommend!

I discovered this café yesterday on my way to the market, and it immediately caught my attention. The Lemon Cold Brew was my first choice — and it was so good that I came back again today! This time, I tried the Latte with orange blossom and the chocolate & fleur de sel cookie, and they completely won me over. Everything here feels so delicate, thoughtful, and beautifully crafted, with such a wonderful attention to detail. I’m absolutely delighted to have discovered this little gem and can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommend! 🤍

September 2024, A small cafe with a small menu. Ideal for starting your day or a small lunch. Seems popular with locals (only saw French people). Coffee has a slight acidity, the home made granola (2 choices) is really good - small version available. A smoothie of the day, fresh soup. A small kantine (as they call it themselves) very good..
Kathleen Fournier★★★★★
The oat latte is truly excellent. Thank you to previous reviewers for saying so, I sought it out and I wasn’t disappointed. Medium roast, creamy beans perfectly ground. And decent oat milk. Tastes like Oatly.
Alice Yagolnitser★★★★★
Best juice place in Biarritz + healthy food options. The owner is super friendly and they have wi-fi so I could work on my laptop for a few hours there every day but the place gets busy at peak hours. Good coffee and freshly baked goodies (chocolate brownie cake is a must) + alternative milk options
Diana Augustin★★★★★
Cute little cafe that gets really busy especially during lunch time with only 4 small tables indoors and a little bench outside (take-away is absolutely worth it). We enjoyed a gazpacho, a homemade savoury muffin with a green salad, iced coffee and freshly pressed juice.
RADOLA Emilie★★★★★
Love this coffee shop, it’s one of the best places in Biarritz. Healthy food + gluten free options. The chocolate cake (fondant au chocolat) and almond & orange flower one (amande & fleur d’oranger) are amazing.

The coffee is fantastic, and the matcha latte is made with good quality matcha. If you love tea, this place is an absolute must-visit as they offer a wide selection, including green tea, white tea, and oolong tea. The egg sandwich is exceptionally delicious—wonderfully moist in texture with soft, fresh bread that isn't dry at all. The atmosphere is comfortable and clean, with sunlight streaming through large glass windows, creating a wonderfully relaxing environment. It's a truly great spot. The staff are very patient, friendly, and helpful with explanations. 抹茶很好喝 茶選擇很多 喜歡喝茶的要來 而且可以續熱水 英文友善

Has a nice pavement seating area with plenty of tables in the sunshine and lots of customers which shows the popularity! Waited a couple of minutes for a table but nothing terrible. Orders are taken promptly and delivered promptly too! Portions are a good size, nothing dramatically big (half the plate was salad leaves). We chose the pancakes with seasonal fruit and the crazy scrambled eggs. The bread is a very interesting choice, quite dark and almost like rye. I will say the pricing is on the high side but that's the tourist area of Biarritz I suppose.

We chose to eat here as it had come up as a place that had gluten free options. Staff were friendly and although didn’t seem that confident/knowledgeable about gluten free options, we did find some options. We had some tasty smoothies and chose a chicken salad. The salad would have been great but was let down by some strangely textured chicken, which didn’t seem like it was cooked, even though it was. Other food brought out looked really good and portion sizes were good.
Jason Willick★★★★★
Truly great brunch options. As an American who has lived in France for many years, this is a legit American brunch. Great pancakes, perfect bacon and good coffee. The tops!
Christina F★★★★☆
We had to wait about 5 mins for a table but it was worth it. We had brunch and the food, fruit & veg juices and coffee were all delicious. We shared a raspberry tart and it was yummy. I would definitely come here again. The staff were also friendly.

The Vietnamese noodles were YUM.. 🇻🇳 Absolutely lovely stuff with a wide range of health brunch & food options, great portion sizes and in a nice outside (and inside if you fancy) environment. 🥒🥬🫑🍅 mid level price wise but would say it is worth it!

All pictures and reviews are old. They do not serve the nice looking food in the pictures, mainly just offer boiled eggs which come with cold bread and no butter or cutlery. Coffee is a mess all over dirty cup and soggy biscuit. Quiche comes cold or microwaved. Toasted sandwich only served cold and had just 3 thin slices of mozzarella. Lady behind counter had bad attitude. Worst breakfast we have had and a waste of 25€
Darren Manser★★★★★
Ok so as a guy from Melbourne I entered Biarritz with a high coffee bar. BUT after trying all the supposed best cafes in the city Im SHOCKED at how how continually dissapointed I've been. No style. Bad coffee. Terrible music. loud decor. Over priced. And now on the last day. Finally I find this cafe. A perfect fusion of style, product, form and function. These people CARE. In a way ive not experienced anywhere else in the city. Its great to see them popular. They well deserve it. Kudos
Chloe Noble★★★★★
Lovely little spot that I sat in for a few hours before my train to Paris. Great food and coffee. I had a slice of marble cake which was unbelievable - it's like they took a classic and elevated it. The vibe is really nice in here too. Lots of people just chilling, reading books, newspapers etc. Quite a few people doing some work on their laptops too. Felt relaxed but busy. Would recommend to all for a relaxed but buzzy cafe with great food.
Magdalena Zbrozek★★★★★

Solid little place for breakfast that’s slightly out of the way in Biarritz but has a great array of choices. The combo deals are great value but the best food is to be gotten if you go outside them.

We ordered two coffees and both were absolutely delicious! They were definitely on the sweeter side, so perfect for anyone who prefers a more milky, smooth coffee rather than a strong espresso taste 🤎 The raspberry mousse was absolutely incredible. The place itself has such a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place we’d happily come back to!

I had a wonderful experience at Lobita Café in Biarritz. The food was excellent, with great flavors. The service was also outstanding, Alex and Sharlot were both very friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout my visit. Their kindness made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Lobita Café to anyone looking for great food and a warm atmosphere.

We are from Taiwan and this is our first time in Biarritz. While strolling around, we came across this café. The staff here were very polite and friendly, and greeted us with bright smiles. I really like the coffee here; it is not bitter and has a smooth taste. The Basque cheesecake is my favorite; it melts in your mouth and is not overly sweet. I really like this café.☕️🤍

I loved the place. Had breakfast here around 5 times during my stay in Biarritz. Coffee was great, breakfast unusual and very tasty (I’m still remembering asparagus with cherries on toast), the stuff was super friendly and welcoming. The place looks stylish and modern. A breakfast gem!

Everything was absolutely delicious! We had an açaí bowl (€10), a matcha (€5), and a passion fruit smoothie (€6), and we loved every single item. The matcha was especially good, which isn’t always easy to find. The prices were very reasonable for the quality, and the value for money was excellent. The café also has a very cute and cosy atmosphere. We’ll most likely be back!

Honestly the cutest cafe store in Biarritz, and the best coffee we've had by far. The owner Heloise shared her travel stories with us, and all of her tips for the area, we loved the vibe. Also, so many treasures to go through on her shelves, most of it handmade. So so recommended.

The absolute best coffee shop in Biarritz. So happy we stumbled across this coffee shop gem. We stayed in Biarritz for 4 days and came here every single day. Look no further for excellent cappuccinos and the delightful yogurt bowls with a unique granola with red miso. The couple who own the shop are so gracious and you can tell they do everything with pleasure! Don’t sleep on the grilled cheese with caramelized onions. No notes 👌🏻

Great healthy breakfasts. A good value. Friendly English language speaking servers. We tried the Egg Benedict and the Granola bowl. Both were good.

We had brunch here and it was nice. The dishes were tasty. We had Eggs benedict with bacon and avocado toast.
JULIE WOODHEAD★★★★★
What a find - superb service with great food all cooked to order. It was Monday very busy but no hassling to get us to move on . We had granola Avocado toast and eggs Benedict with Bacon. Beautifully presented , great flavours. The cookies look pretty damn good too! Highly recommend Coffee Ekia !!
M. M.★★★★☆
It was good, but not particularly memorable. The Eggs Benedict and avocado toast were fairly average, and the bread — which is the key part of both dishes — didn’t stand out at all. The avocado portion was overwhelming for the plate, and it had a raw, unripe taste. My eggs and toast were practically buried under it. It honestly felt like the avocados weren’t ripe, so they may have been blended or watered down to improve the texture.

Wonderful café serving excellent coffee and lovely sweet treats (vegan-friendly too!). Was only in Biarritz for three days but made sure I went every day for the exceptional cinnamon rolls! Very friendly staff who are happy to support when your French is not so good! Highly recommend for anyone wanting a good coffee and a tasty pastry.

Small place, but so good! Lots of vegan option which was hard to find in Biarritz 😹 The people working were so kind and had smiles on their faces 😊 The chai has a lot of cinnamon! But was great! I also had the cinnamon roll- can’t tell it’s vegan! Must go for vegan people in Biarritz!

This is THE specialty coffee place in Biaritz, great design & nice vibe, great single origin coffee - could be a great choice in any big city. I got a yummy homemade granola bowl with no sugar. Also pure matcha was really good.
Nicole Kramer★★★★★
Café Loky’s got great coffee in addition to its vibey aesthetic. Their espresso drinks are fabulous, as is their cold brew! I’d been craving a good cold brew during my trip to Europe since that’s my usual preference back in the states, and theirs is better than that of many coffee shops back home that advertise having a great cold brew! Highly recommend this spot for your morning coffee 🙂
David Kardanov★★★★★
Great coffee spot. Top service from the barista he was busy but took his time for each latte to make the art. Using the best coffee machine and coffee grinder that coffee taste out of this world.

We LOVED our waiter, Louis. We went to another place because the food sounded different and we came back just to encourage Louis, so. We definitely recommend if the rest of the team is half as nice.
Amy Doyle★☆☆☆☆
Disappointed I wasted my money here. The short blonde haired waitress who I presume is management/owner was really rude. Either that, or she maybe is new and a waitress in training for the skill of basic customer service. We popped in for coffee, before we got the bus. We asked for ice coffee but got a short answer back that they didn’t offer iced coffee (which is fine). We then got 2 cappuccino’s which turned out to be two cups of black coffee with a dash of milk, and the coffe tasted awful. The cafe has proper coffee machines and felt as though we were given a cup of instant coffee, and it felt deliberate. We also asked for two glasses of water which didn’t arrive, yet it appeared the locals I observed got decent treatment. It felt because we were tourist we were immediately disliked. The coffee was 4.5€ each which would have been fine if I got what I asked for but I paid anyway as I couldn’t be bothered with the argument as we don’t speak great french. When we asked to pay, the waitress was quite dismissive and typing on her laptop. We couldn’t wait to leave. I’m reading the reviews and it seems anyone that receives bad service is getting completely shunned which is just adding to the evidence of how rude they are. I’ve worked in customer service most of my career and this is a prime example of how NOT to respond to your lower reviews. to add, I barely leave reviews unless I feel it’s warranted, either good or bad. So further evidence to how disappointing the service was.
Lana Smith★★★★★
Super cute cafe across the street from the theatre and park. The design on the inside is even cuter than the street tables with cool vintage posters and art! Not to mention the food is amazing. We had the steak and moule frites which was delicious. And OMG the dessert called baba rhum is so good where they give you a cute little bottle where you control the amount of rum you soak your cake with. Was so good in fact I came back the next day just for dessert!!!!!!

The most welcoming and lovely restaurant in Biarritz. A family-owned restaurant that aims to make each diners experience memorable. Excellent English for those afraid to fail at speaking French. Our server, the son of the owner, was extremely welcoming. Not only was he an amazing server but he taught us about the wonderful history of Basque Country and gave us tips where to go in the region. The food was exquisite! Even though the restaurant wasn’t busy I felt that each dish was created to perfection. I guarantee if I visit Biarritz again I will 100% come back here.

Quiet restaurant to have dinner or drink something. Attention was perfect But unfortunately food was bland. Prices per person 30€ approximately.

Tips for Visiting Aesthetic Cafes in Biarritz

To make the most of your café-hopping experience in Biarritz, it helps to understand the local rhythm. Unlike larger metropolitan cities where cafes operate on an all-day model, many Biarritz establishments adhere to distinct service hours, closing between lunch and dinner. Planning your visit around these local habits will ensure you arrive when the pastries are freshest and the light is at its best for photography.

Timing is everything for photography. The golden hour in Biarritz is spectacular, but inside the cafes, morning light often offers the softest, most flattering glow. Arrive within the first hour of opening to secure the best window seats and avoid the lunchtime rush. Not only will you get better photos of the interiors, but you will also experience the venue as the staff intended—calm, clean, and freshly arranged.

Respect the space and the locals. Many of these aesthetic cafes are small, independently owned businesses that serve as offices for local freelancers. While it is tempting to move around the room to get the perfect angle, be mindful of your volume and physical footprint. Avoid using flash photography or moving furniture, as this disrupts the atmosphere for everyone else and can damage delicate decor.

Come hungry and curious. The aesthetic appeal of these venues extends beyond the coffee to the food presentation. Many cafes in Biarritz partner with local ceramicists to design their plates and cups. Take the time to ask about the origin of the beans or the baker who supplies the pastries. This not only enriches your experience but also shows appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into the visual experience.

Dress for the weather and the vibe. Biarritz has a micro-climate that can shift quickly from sunny to misty. Since many of the best aesthetic cafes have outdoor terraces or open facades, layering is key. Wearing neutral, earthy tones will not only keep you comfortable but will also help you blend seamlessly into the design aesthetic of the interiors, making for more cohesive photos.

Explore beyond the main strip. While the seafront is beautiful, the most authentic and visually striking cafes are often located a few blocks inland. Walk the streets around Rue Gambetta or the market area. You will find that the rent is lower, the design is riskier, and the clientele is more local, offering a truer representation of Biarritz’s modern culture.

The café scene in Biarritz is a reflection of the town itself—sophisticated yet laid-back, rooted in tradition yet open to global influence. Taking the time to slow down and appreciate the details of these spaces offers a different kind of sightseeing. It is a chance to see how the Basque aesthetic is evolving, one carefully poured latte and sculptural chair at a time.

As the sun sets over the Atlantic, these cafes transform from bright, airy workspaces into warm, intimate gathering spots. Whether you spend your day chasing the perfect cappuccino or simply sitting with a book in a beautifully designed corner, the memory of these spaces will linger long after the coffee has gone cold. In Biarritz, the beauty is not just in the landscape outside the window—it is in the cup in your hand and the chair beneath you.
