17 Best Seafood Restaurants in Nice

The French Riviera has a reputation for glamour, but in Nice, the culinary scene is refreshingly down-to-earth, vibrant, and deeply connected to the Mediterranean Sea. While the Promenade des Anglais offers sweeping views of the Baie des Anges, the real magic happens on the plate. From bustling Old Town bistros to elegant beachfront terraces, dining here is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the freshness of the catch.

Nice’s unique geographical position, bordered by the sea and the mountains, creates a distinct Nicoise cuisine that differs from the butter-heavy dishes of Paris. Here, olive oil reigns supreme, and the seafood is often grilled simply to let the natural flavors shine. Whether you are seeking a Michelin-starred experience or a rustic family-run institution, the city offers a diverse range of options for every budget and occasion.

Understanding the local dining culture is key to enjoying your meal. In Nice, lunch is often a leisurely affair, and dinner service typically begins later in the evening, around 7:30 PM or 8:00 PM. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the summer months when the city is bustling with international travelers and locals alike enjoying the warm nights.

This guide focuses on the establishments that consistently deliver excellence in seafood. We have prioritized restaurants that source their ingredients locally, respect the traditions of Nicoise cooking, and provide a memorable atmosphere. You will find everything from delicate sea urchin and oysters to hearty bouillabaisse and the region’s famous sardines.

As you explore the culinary landscape of the French Riviera, remember that “freshness” is not a buzzword here; it is a standard. The proximity to the Mediterranean means that many of the fish on your plate were swimming in the sea just hours before being prepared. This connection to the water is what makes dining in Nice a truly authentic experience.

Below, we have curated a list of the best spots to satisfy your craving for the ocean’s bounty. These restaurants represent the pinnacle of quality, service, and local flavor in Nice.

We had a lovely time here! The seafood was fresh and delicious. The sauce paired well with everything. Amazing service from Lola. The environment is laid back and modern, music at the right volume, everything was just all around great! Don't miss this stop for dinner while in Nice!

We are in Nice for vacation and happened to walked across Folie. My kids love seafood and there are plenty of them in California but this is one of the best. The seafood is so fresh and sauce is very tasty. Just be careful if you have peanut allergies. One of the sauce has peanuts in it. Overall a nice restaurant, cute atmosphere and friendly staff. Bon appetit!!

I’m glad I chose to visit this particular restaurant for Bouillabaisse and Niçoise. The bouillabaisse was perfectly balanced, even with the summer heat the seafood was highlighted and the broth didn’t over power the whole dish. Portion size is just spot on, I could even share it with someone. Reservation is highly recommended as it gets busy. I was just lucky to be visiting alone so I was seated right away. Staff was attentive and kind. I’d be back for sure.

Outstanding seafood (and more), fresh, homemade in a neighborhood restaurant at fair prices. What more would you want? We've been twice so far, and tried seafood paella (best I've had including Spain!), pasta vongole, grilled salmon and swordfish. All excellent with good little salad and veggies, including fennel. I'm always sceptical of swordfish being dry and theirs was perfect. Only minor criticisms, we needed to add a bit of salt for our tastes and the paella didn't have a crust, the socarrat that is typical in Spain.

відгуку: A lovely restaurant with pleasant and friendly service. The portions are quite generous and the food is delicious, especially the grilled octopus — I really enjoyed it. The only thing that disappointed me was being charged €7 for regular water. I found this quite strange, as this was the first time it happened to me during my entire stay in Nice. In all the other restaurants I visited, regular table water was served free of charge.

What a wonderful evening! We enjoyed a superb meal. Our bouillabaisse was truly excellent and a fitting tribute to our last night in Nice. All the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. We cannot praise the team enough, and would highly recommend anyone to visit to get a real taste of Mediterranean cuisine at its best! Awesome!

Wonderful location right on Garibaldi Square. Renowned for their freshest seafood towers. Of course I was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious. Oysters were divine. Service is super friendly fast send efficient. Try the tasting plate dessert that was amazing!!! I love this restaurant. If I'm ever near Nice I'd definitely be going back there.

Outstanding seafood and one of our favorite meals in Nice. The oysters, mussels, clams, grilled sardines, and pasta were all fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The restaurant was extremely busy, which explains why we had to wait for a table. The staff were friendly, although they accidentally forgot one dish and made a small mistake on the bill. They corrected it quickly once we mentioned it. Great food, lively atmosphere, and definitely worth visiting. Just be prepared for a wait during busy hours and double-check your bill before paying.

A very pleasant place on Garibaldi Square. We visit this restaurant quite often and are always very satisfied. The seafood is always fresh, the oysters are excellent, everything is delicious, and the service is fast. I would especially like to mention one of the staff members who served us during our last visit. Unfortunately, I do not know his name — he was a tall gentleman. We had never seen him there before and have not seen him since, but his service left a very strong impression on us. When we asked to move to another table, he carefully transferred everything himself without any fuss. The service was exceptional: he brought and poured the water, paid attention to every detail, and served everything beautifully and professionally. Although this is a simple and cozy seafood café, his service made it feel like dining in a high-end five-star restaurant. Everything was done with elegance, care, and genuine hospitality. This level of attentive and professional service is rare these days. When you experience such care for guests, it genuinely makes you want to thank the staff sincerely and leave a tip with pleasure. Thank you to the entire team for the delicious food, fresh seafood, and excellent service. We keep coming back again and again and highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys quality seafood, fresh oysters, and a warm atmosphere.

The lobster pasta… oh my got it was magnificent! A must while at le cafe de Turin 🦞 🍝 Beautiful decor and attentive service. We had a fantastic dinner here after a long day of boating in the sun! ☀️ My friends ordered the oysters and mussels and loved them also, but I saved myself for lobster 🙂

After comparing so many restaurants on line we decided to come to this place in Nice. The review indicated there are some lack of service or long waiting for the food. But in reality we got the best service from the staff specially from Philippe! He made our night! He even thanked us for coming which we never experienced in any other place! Besides the excellent service, the seafood is so fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the evening here and for sure will come back to Nice just for this restaurant! When you are here say hi to Philippe for us 🤗

I visited this restaurant after seeing it recommended by a popular Korean YouTuber. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, and above all, the service truly stood out. The staff member who took care of us was incredibly kind and attentive, making the whole dining experience comfortable and enjoyable. It was honestly one of the most friendly and cheerful services I’ve received while traveling across Europe. The vongole pasta was perfectly cooked, and the oysters were fresh and flavorful. If you’re considering a visit, I would definitely recommend it. (Also, I accidentally bumped into one of the lights on my way out—hope it’s okay! )
Maureen Gaudio★★★★☆
Paella was outstanding! Hostess was rude, waiter was bored and sat in front of a bright and changing billboard (very distracting and took away from a charming dinner) despite having reservations — which they said they don’t take for sitting outside but I made it online and there was no communication about sitting outside. I’d go back for the food but sit in a much different location and hopefully get a different waiter.

Boccaccio, Nice — an exceptional seafood experience elevated by spot‑on wine pairings. Began with Gillardeau No. 1 oysters, the largest and most impressive size, served perfectly chilled and impeccably fresh. Their natural creaminess and delicate iodine sweetness were beautifully matched with a coupe of Taittinger Champagne. The champagne’s crisp acidity, fine bubbles, and subtle brioche notes cut through the richness of the oysters while enhancing their briny freshness—an ideal, classic pairing done exactly right. Had the lobster (langouste) special of the day for main course, and it was outstanding—tender, sweet, and expertly prepared. This was paired with a glass of Pouilly white wine, which proved to be an excellent choice. The wine’s minerality, freshness, and restrained citrus notes complemented the sweetness of the lobster without overpowering it, allowing the flavors of the dish to shine while adding structure and elegance to each bite. Impeccable wine guidance, high‑quality ingredients, and attentive yet relaxed service made the meal feel refined and effortless. Boccaccio clearly understands how to pair seafood and wine with precision. Easily one of the best seafood lunches in Nice—highly recommended.
Tintin Clifton★★★★★
The best local seafood restaurant in Nice. Great staff and atmosphere. Their paella is legendary but huge. Best oysters in town. The best part is, it is open on Sunday and Monday when most restaurants are closed. Try their ceviche or the crab salad if you want a very heavy meal.
Sanela Tomic★★★★☆
They are famous for paella, but seafood to rice ratio was off. Too much chorizo gave it a nice color but made it greasy and it killed any hope to taste saffron, if there was any in it because it was not detectable, neither in color nor in the taste. Calamari was tough, mussels overcooked. But the worst part is that it came out cold. Not worth the price. However, crème brûlée and service were amazing!!!

We went a little early in the evening and able to get the seat. The restaurant was already packed with people. Food was delicious but what had our hearts was the lime sorbet with meringue crumbles. I could swear that it was one of the best sorbet combo I have ever had in my life. Phenomenon. Would go back just for that sorbet alone. Oysters were yummy too!

Situated in a really touristy part of Nice. But there were a great deal of positive reviews of this place across the internet so decided to have dinner here. There was a little bit of wait. But I appreciate the maitre d's attentiveness and the little bar to sip till you get a table. The dining service was otherwise fine. The restaurant describes itself as having both South American and Mediterranean influences. But I would describe it more as French-Japanese fusion, with decidedly japanese flavours (miso, ponzu, shiso, wasabi etc) with a french execution. The table bread was delicious! And was the nicest thing we had all night. We had the following starters: 1. Scallop ceviche - unbalanced, with the avocado/fruit flavours completely overwhelming the scallop. The scallop on its own was fresh and sweet. 2. Tuna tartare - this was lovely with nice bursts of wasabi interspersed in the dish. 3. Clams - this was fine, but nothing spectacular. 4. Eggplant - for a grilled item, this came out room temperature, bordering cold. Perhaps it's meant to be served this way, but it did the flavour zero justice. Mains: 1. Noodles with octopus. This was a confusing dish, and none of the ingredients complemented one another. 2. Cod fillet. This was flaky and delicate. We skipped out on dessert as we did not wish to be disappointed any further. The seafood was fresh. But the execution leaves a lot to be desired.

A reliable, high-quality spot that’s well worth a look if you’re in the area. The food here is good quality and honestly priced, offering proper value for money. The staff are dead friendly and helpful, and the whole place has a lovely, welcoming vibe to it. My only real critique is that nothing on the menu particular outstanding—there isn't that one standout dish that you'll be dreaming about later. The octopus is grilled nicely but overall the flavour is slight less than what I want. The sauce of scallop tasted good refreshing. That said, it is comfortably above your average high street eatery and everything we had was well-made. It’s a cracking, dependable restaurant that won't break the bank, making it well worth a try if you're passing by.

Situated with a view of the water and the the main square this is an amazing modern and very good sea food restaurant in Nice. Highly recommend this if you want friendly service, and fresh fish and sea food. Menu is small and seasonal. We had salmon tartar and the fresh sea bream whole fish which was very good. Note: this please doesn’t not take reservations so just go and usually there’s not a long wait.
Daniela Peskova★★★★★
We visited as a group of four and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, but we only waited around 15 minutes for a table, which was absolutely fine. The service was excellent — attentive, friendly, observant, and always smiling throughout the evening. We started with oysters, ceviche, and grundle, followed by fish dishes as our mains, and everything was fresh and beautifully prepared. The rosé wine was outstanding and paired perfectly with the food. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great seafood, professional service, and a relaxed atmosphere.

A small gem at the port that definitely deserves a visit. The seafood is fresh and the sauces are fabulous: traditional citrus and onion, truffle salt, vinaigrette, pistachio pesto, and even a truffle aioli. The staff are warm and welcoming. We came twice and almost ordered the entire menu. Our favourites were the medium sized oysters, truffle scallops, and traditional razor clams. If our trip was longer, I have no doubt we’d come here a third time. I recommend making a reservation. If you can’t, you can grab a table after 1:00 of their 12:00 PM is a no show. Outdoor seating only with a pull out awning when it gets too sunny. Absolutely fabulous, merci beaucoup!

Amazing experience! Hugo and the guys were so kind and just cool guys. You can combine and create your own platter just as you‘d like it. You get unlimited bread for free and the shrimps were one of the best I‘ve ever had. Try the souffle for dessert, it‘s a perfect way to end the evening. Will definitely come back!

The best in Nice, super great service and the best oysters from their own farm. When you visit Nice, this is the best seafood place. We come here every summer, and every summer we go at least twice. Highly recommended

Seafood was really fresh and at a good price. The sauce that it came with was also really good and the scallops were superb. I would definitely recommend booking a table before as the restaurant didn’t have many tables. They only serve seafood platters here so if you’re looking for other options this isnt for you.
Yeji Soh★★★★★
Every morning they bring in fresh seafood to serve the day of, and you can truly taste the difference. It paired perfectly with a Chablis that I ordered. If I ever return to Nice, I would definitely come back here again! (All the seats are outside/on the street so not the most comfortable though!)

Pesca Seafood Restaurant was one of the highlights of our time in Nice. The concept is fantastic. As soon as you walk in, you’re welcomed by an impressive seafood display where you can personally choose the exact fish or seafood you want, as well as how you’d like it prepared. Everything looked incredibly fresh and of the highest quality. Every dish was beautifully cooked and full of flavor, perfectly showcasing the freshness of the ingredients. Even the dessert was outstanding, with the perfect balance of sweetness and a satisfying crunchy texture that made for a wonderful ending to the meal. The service was professional, attentive, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The entire dining experience felt smooth and well organized. The restaurant also enjoys a beautiful location in the heart of Nice, making it an ideal place for a relaxing seafood dinner with a lovely atmosphere. We were extremely satisfied with every aspect of our visit. If you love fresh seafood and want a memorable dining experience in Nice, Pesca Seafood Restaurant is absolutely worth visiting.

It's located next to the train station, but since the restaurant is on the fifth floor of a hotel, the atmosphere is surprisingly pleasant. Both the indoor seating and the terrace are spacious, making it a great place for gatherings with friends or family. We ordered the tuna, clam pasta, grilled prawns, and a few side dishes. At first, we were a little concerned that the relatively quiet crowd might mean the seafood wasn't very fresh, but we were pleasantly surprised. The ingredients were genuinely fresh, and both the seasoning and cooking were spot on. The grilled prawns were especially impressive, they were perfectly cooked and wonderfully tender. The cocktails are also well made and definitely worth trying. The service was warm and friendly, and the staff even helped us take some photos. If they could further refine their service by checking whether guests are ready to order without interrupting conversations, the experience would be even better. Overall, compared with seafood restaurants in the Old Town and the city center, this place offers much better value for money while maintaining excellent quality.
Daniel Cosentino★★★☆☆
Had never dinned at this sort of market concept before and we were pleasantly surprised with the food. After picking out fish the kitchen prepared some delicious dishes with great flavors and presentation. The only complaint is with the service. The restaurant was severely understaffed and it was evident. If every station had a dedicated team member plus additional servers in the dining room, this experience could definelty be a 10/10

The idea is there however the execution needs some work. From the time that we got sat to the time we were able to choose our dishes was about 30 minutes. We had ordered 4 dishes, ceviche, oysters, scallops and seabass. The server said he would bring our oysters and ceviche first as a starter but around another 30 minutes after making our choices the seabass came out first. Our server cut it and attempted to debone it for us but naturally there were still many bones so be careful. Shortly after the scallops had arrived as well which was quite a small portion. We had finished those dishes however no one came by to check on us so we were not about to inquire about that starters that were meant to come first. After some more waiting we decided to go up to the bar and pay for the bill. The server asked if we enjoyed everything and after saying we didn’t get half our meal the only compensation was obviously taking those items off the bill and a free shot of limoncello. We wanted to enjoy this experience but given this outcome it was hard. Not worth the price point in my opinion.

Authentic French restaurant, good selection of seafood as well as meat dishes. Good wines by glass, demi bouteille or bottle. Local regional beer on draft. Moules were great, though the fries typical uncooked french style. Had complementary bread to savour the sauce. Good portion of the beef stew with gnocci, however somewhat undercooked pieces of meat and gnocci too much flavoured of white pepper. The dessert Ile Flottant was excellent. Great service!

It's a popular seafood restaurant. We booked it ahead of time. We shared a seafood platter between the four of us. It was really fresh. Each of us have a different mains and desserts. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will visit again.

Nice variety of starters to share — well-presented and full of flavor. For mains, the rabbit leg was a bit dry, but the beef cheeks with gnocchi were absolutely delicious — rich, tender, and perfectly paired. We finished with a pavlova, which was good for sharing, though not particularly memorable. Overall, a solid meal with a few standout dishes. Would come back for the beef cheeks alone!

fantastic, we tried the bouillebass and although it wasn’t really my taste of food, i think the fish was very good and that it’s perfect for someone who really loves a seafood mix ( not really me haha) the waiters were amazing, the atmosphere was calm and relaxed, exactly what you want after a long day exploring Nice and Eze. A very nice family-run seafood joint. The surroundings are not particularly exciting - it's situated next to a busy thoroughfare and in the shade of the buildings, but the food is worthwhile to sit down and enjoy your time. The selection of oysters, prawns and seafood is fantastic.

Had the fruits de mer platter for dinner and it was really tasty. The oysters were amazing. Only bit that wasn't so nice was the raw mussels, first time having them and they left a bitter taste in the mouth. Service was quick and friendly. Would return again.

A solid 4 stars. On the surface - very sought after, highly booked and higher end of prices but in comparison to what you could eat elsewhere in Niceb in terms of food quality, this falls below the bar really. What you're essentially paying for is the premium to is to have dinner on the beach and have the sea as your view, which don't get me wrong - is great - but the food quality doesn't match what you're paying for. We booked dinner for 7pm and got there 10mins early. Thankfully near to the front of the queue but it wasn't really managed properly and people pushing the line. My pizza was a bit thick and floppy. Definitely undercooked. When we ordered dessert, what we got was *enormous*. The profiterole dessert is the *biggest* profiterole I've ever seen and definitely a sharer. So was the chocolate mouse which they gave me basically half a litre of chocolate mouse in a jar 🤣 these are the sort of portions you'd expect in America! For those two deserts, I'd rather half the size and half the cost. My mum had the lemon meringue dessert which was a very normal size and apparently delicious! The waiter that served us was v lovely and friendly - and tipped as a result 🙂 Nice experience but don't know if food quality matches the bill.

Le Galet restaurant Great location on the beach right in the heart of Nice. Very easy to access directly from the promenade des anglais including for wheel chairs and a push chair using a lift. Food is a great balance with large quantity for hungry bellies yet great quality and reasonably priced. Le Galet tries very hard to seat clients and serve them as quickly as possible. It opens at 9:00 am and offers copious breakfast with fantastic fresh fruits platters, pastries and coffee. Great place to start the day looking at the “bay des anges”.

We had dinner at this restaurant and ENJOYED IT! We ate appetizer: burrata and tomatoes, main: ravioli and pizza, dessert: xxl eclair. Both the appetizer and the dessert is BIG PORTIONS. One is sufficient for two persons. The waitress had good advice, gave us the right amount of time and was very funny in a charmfull way. The combination was great! We had a good time 👌
Isabel Dudau★★★★☆
The restaurant was so pretty and the food was nice but nothing out of this world, the dessert in the other hand was amazing. For some reason there was a point in our stay when someone threw sand to the restaurant from above and it ended up in our hair and food. Overall experience was ok.

The best restaurant I went too in Nice. We loved it so much we went back a second time. The service was wonderful, very helpful and efficient. The decor was beautiful and the view was incredible. The food is good I tried to pizza which was tasty. The second time I had the rigatoni which was delicious and my partner had the seafood linguine which he loved. I’d 100% return again just for the profiterole, which I recommend sharing. It was huge.

This place was one of the highlights of my trip to Nice. We ordered Paella to go and the portion size was great and the taste excellent. The staff were very nice and welcoming. While we waited for our food they offered us complimentary sangaria which was equally good. The restaurant doesn’t look like much but don’t let that fool you. It’s a must vice when in Nice.
Jiayi Wu★★★★★
This is the first meal we had upon arrival, AND IR WAS PERFECT! We couldn’t talk during the meal as we were just too busy enjoying the food. We ordered the seafood and royale mix. Also enjoyed the Sangria and a nice cream brûlée. Couldn’t have had a better choice.

Paella in Nice with fresh seafood, great taste, small local restaurant, and friendly service. Tip: order the Sangria too, it’s amazing. Kitchen closes around 930-10pm. I recommend a reservation.

Food not special, do not go here. If you've ever had good paella before, like in Valencia or borough market in my experience, this is very inferior to that. The food wasn't awful, but below average and underwhelming. Was basically spiced/steamed rice & fairly dry seafood, came out very quick which isn’t like paella. 30euro for below average paella
Robin Xiao★★★★★
Lunchtime was easier to get a space. The paella is probably The best one I’ve ever tried. Especially the rise is softer than other stores, which is more match my preference. The seafood quality was unreal as well. Gutted the lobster one was sold out. We’ll definitely try again next time!

Our favourite meal during our 10days in France! Friendly service. Amazing, fresh seafood, fair prices (100€ for 2 people). The menu was so much nicer than most of the typical tourist spots. There was nothing to fault at all. I’d have gone back again if we had time…one day!

Absolutely wonderful small seafood spot, highlighted by a waiter whose suggestions were all spot on (coconut grilled shrimp was particularly outstanding). Great wines by the glass (beyond my least fav Cotes de Provence red wines, hooray!). Outdoor dining out of the setting sun, energetic and friendly staff. Old Town dining doesn't get any better than this, whether you live in Nice or are visiting. A reasonably priced gem, I highly recommend.
Anna Mazurek★★★★★
I stumbled upon this cute little restaurant today and stopped in for a few dishes and a beer. Very glad I did as I’m still thinking about the delicious Mont Blanc cod, which I enjoyed so much that I ordered a second serve. The tuna tataki and sea bass carpaccio were also great. The service was excellent. Outdoor seating is a nice way to enjoy some people (and pooch) watching.
Oriana★★★★★
Everything was sooo delicious! I highly recommend the coconut panko prawns, oh my. If you like coconut you’re gonna love them! They’re also fried so kinda like a combination of everything that’s good 🙂‍↕️ The atmosphere was really nice and chill, and staff was really kind. I love tapas because you can get a little portion of everything, you get to try so many different foods. As for the shrimps cooked in chimichurri oil, as an Argentinian, they don’t taste at all like chimichurri 🥺, so that’s the only thing that I wasn’t so happy about. Still, five stars for the staff and the good food. Thank you! 💗
Kasia Maleszyk★★★★★
This was one of the best meals we had in Nice! We got a nice table outside and were immediately present with welcoming and warm service. I recommend ordering a few tapa style dishes to share as they are all so good! My favourites were the Mont Blanc toast, fish croquette, sea bream carpaccio as well as the coconut prawns. Pairing everything with the Falanghina was the perfect touch.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A great little seafood spot I came across during my trip from Bangkok. The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet alley, giving it a relaxed and laid-back vibe. It’s a small place, but that adds to the charm. The atmosphere is casual, cozy, and very welcoming. Service was easygoing and friendly. The highlight is definitely the food—super fresh seafood, simply done but full of flavor. Everything tasted really good and felt high quality. If you’re into seafood and prefer a more low-key, authentic place, this one is definitely worth try
Mara★★★★★
Best dinner we had in Nice. The fish was incredibly good, best chevices I had in my life! Also, the sea bream was very good and the portions were generous. I totally recommend the tasting platter, it includes all the most popular dishes on the menu. 10/10, a hidden gem. Also, let’s not ignore how pretty the location is.
Senem Ozturk★★★★★
Great service, lovely ambience, and top-notch ceviche assortments. We tried the Sea Bream and Scallop ceviches, both were excellent. The Tuna Tartare was also super delicious. They don’t take reservations, but if you go around 7 PM, you can usually find a table easily; later in the evening, expect a bit of a queue
Stella Esther Tan★★★★☆
Nice area, good vibes around there thanks to the music from surrounding bars. The service was really slow on the day we visited. The sashimi was fresh and sweet, the beef skewer was alright but nothing to shout about. In all, decent food but portions are not huge.

Very good food, good atmosphere and also interesting lunch menus with very good value for money. The only downside is that the portions are not very big.

We stopped by for drinks. Which were good and fairly priced. Service was good. From the entrance to the waitress, everyone was friendly and welcoming. If I ever find myself in Nice again I will definitely come chill here swim and have something to eat.

My experience in this restaurant was great! The view and sunset were perfect. The burrata was the BEST! And the chicken with coconut rice was also incredible. Definitely recommended. Don’t miss this place!

The beach itself is nice as it’s Nice. Service and the waiters were good and came around regularly. However, we and three other groups we overheard asked for bowls of fries. We were told no as we had to order fries with something else because the manager said. Strange way to avoid earning money - it put us off buying any food.
Jan Lenoir Harrigan★★★★★
Have been here before, but on our very first day of this trip we stopped in for dinner about 7:30. We shared the swordfish with herb persillade, then fraises chantilly for dessert in a lovely atmosphere on their beachside patio. It was beautiful and tasty. Service from Nico was truly exceptional….so genuinely welcoming. And fun and funny. Could not have been better! He even found an extra umbrella to give us more shade. Highly recommend.
Evelyn LaLonde★☆☆☆☆
The manager came over and insulted us, called us « girls ». (We are grown adults.) He then insisted that we didn’t order enough and gave us a really hard time about the 6th person in our party not showing up. The food is not great and very over priced. The view is lovely of course. I wouldn’t recommend spending money at Blue Beach. There are better beach clubs with better service.

I went to Le plongeoir for my birthday and initially was sat a table further from the water. I asked to be moved considering it was my last day in France and my birthday and the director and manager were beyond accommodating. They moved my family and I to a private table right near the water where the view was absolutely breathtaking. Beyond that, they continually checked in on us and made sure we were happy with the food and service. The food was great incredible and led to the most perfect birthday dinner. I highly recommend going here! It will be a memorable experience and on you will never forget! Thank you again for everything!

Fabulous experience from start to finish. We made a reservation months in advance and were seated immediately upon arrival. Service was wonderful, view was incredible and the food was delicious. It’s hard to find a unique/cool concept restaurant that also has good food, it’s usually one or the other. But my husband and I loved the food so much! We got tuna tartar, burrata, truffle pasta, sea bass. Drinks were great as well. Highly recommend this restaurant, just make a reservation in advance because it’s a tiny but popular place.

We had a lovely experience dining at Le Plongeoir! All of the staff were very welcoming, kind, and attentive. We had a group of 7 so enjoyed the set three-course menu for 125 euro per person (drinks excluded), which was delicious and appropriate portion of food. Made the reservation a couple months ahead of our trip. It did not feel like a tourist trap, actually delicious and great experience. Not to mention you can’t beat the beautiful sea views, of course. Highly recommend!
Evelyn Barkhoudarian★★★★★
Absolutely beautiful setting with amazing food and ambience. We reserved ahead of time for a table for 8 and had the most beautiful table at the outermost edge. I will say the tables by the water looked amazing and all the other tables still have a beautiful view. The food was really good - fresh and flavorful. The appetizers were a hit. Kids and adults all loved the food.
Chiaowei Yu★★★★★
I want to personally appreciate the waitress we had today. She made our visit very pleasant! 💖 she’s at the top floor and there were not a lot of helps besides her but she made sure our plate of breads is always full, the water is filled, and check in with us from time to time to make sure we have good experience. Food is surprisingly good! A bit improvement would be the quality of chicken. It’s very dry. Other than that I’ll give them 5/5

La Barque Bleue is truly one of those rare dining experiences that reminds you why fresh seafood and authentic hospitality matter so much. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, elegant, and inviting, perfectly capturing the charm of the French coast. The restaurant has a beautiful balance between sophistication and comfort, making it an ideal place for both a relaxing lunch and a memorable evening dinner. The seafood was exceptionally fresh and prepared with great attention to detail. Every dish tasted like it had come directly from the sea that same day. The flavors were clean, vibrant, and natural without being overly complicated. You can immediately tell the kitchen respects the ingredients and focuses on quality first. From the shellfish to the fish selections, everything was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. The freshness alone sets this restaurant apart from many others. One of the highlights of the experience was our waiter, Sarkis. His service was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. He was professional, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming throughout the entire meal. Sarkis took the time to explain menu items, offer thoughtful recommendations, and ensure every detail of the dining experience was perfect. It is rare to encounter service that feels both polished and sincere at the same time, but he managed to do exactly that. His hospitality elevated an already excellent dinner into something truly memorable. The overall ambiance of the restaurant also deserves recognition. The setting feels peaceful and refined while still maintaining a relaxed coastal energy. It is the kind of place where you can sit for hours enjoying fresh seafood, conversation, and wine without ever feeling rushed. If you are visiting the area and appreciate high-quality seafood, excellent service, and a beautiful dining atmosphere, this restaurant is absolutely worth experiencing. La Barque Bleue delivered an unforgettable meal, and Sarkis made the evening even more special with his exceptional hospitality.

This place seems to be very popular. It has a family-friendly, casual atmosphere, too noisy maybe 🙂 . The food was delicious. I love mussels, and the ones here were the best I’ve ever had. But I was surprised by the appearance of some of the waiters. One of them was wearing a tank top that was completely soaked with sweat. It seems to me that if you’re sweating that much, you ought to change your shirt during your shift. Or it is not important in France??
Darcy Pace (EPC Wiltshire)★★★★★
Great place for sea food great service reasonable price, Maha served us and made us welcome, mix sea food plater with Moules Rocquefort where fantastic paired with a crisp white. Recommended
Jane Nixon★☆☆☆☆
Very disappointing experience from start to finish. The service was poor, and the food was honestly some of the worst we’ve had. I wasn’t even hungry and only wanted a drink, while my husband ordered a glass of wine and the four-cheese pizza for us to share since it was supposed to be large enough. The pizza was absolutely disgusting. We also felt pressured into ordering more food, so I ended up getting a seafood dish that was equally bad. Nothing tasted fresh or well prepared. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. It feels like a complete tourist trap — overpriced, low quality, and not worth the visit at all.
Dmitriy Gurin★★★★★
Such a lovely experience! Delicious food, beautifully crafted drinks, tasty oysters and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Everything was just perfect — highly recommended! Only one thing is missing - not working AC

Tips for Choosing the Best Seafood in Nice

Navigating a city filled with incredible restaurants can be overwhelming, and the difference between a good meal and a great one often comes down to a few local insights. To ensure you get the most authentic and high-quality experience during your stay on the Côte d’Azur, it helps to understand how the locals dine and what to look for on a menu. By following a few practical guidelines, you can avoid tourist traps and eat like a true Niçois.

1). Look for “Poisson du Jour” or “Selon Arrivage”

The single best indicator of a high-quality seafood restaurant is a menu that changes daily. Look for phrases like “Poisson du Jour” (Fish of the Day) or “Selon Arrivage” (According to the Catch). This tells you that the chef is buying whole fish from the local market each morning rather than relying on frozen or imported fillets. If the server brings a platter of raw fish to the table for you to choose from, you know you are in the right place.

2). Embrace Local Specialties

While ordering salmon or shrimp might be tempting, you are in the capital of the French Riviera. Be adventurous and try the local species that define Nicoise cuisine. Look for Sardines (often grilled or stuffed), Loup de Mer (Mediterranean sea bass), Rouget (red mullet), and Saint-Pierre (John Dory). These fish are native to these waters and taste significantly better here than anywhere else in the world.

3). Be Wary of “Moules Frites” Overload

While mussels and fries are a staple of French brasseries, they are often a default option that requires less culinary skill. If a restaurant’s menu is dominated by cheap mussels and fried calamari with little else from the sea, it is likely catering to the high-volume tourist trade. A true Niçois seafood restaurant will offer a variety of grilled whole fish and regional preparations.

4). Understand the Pricing Structure

In France, seafood is often priced “per 100 grams” rather than as a flat dish price. When you order a whole fish, the waiter will usually tell you the weight and the price before it is cooked. Do not be shy about asking for the exact price before you commit. This is standard practice, and a reputable restaurant will happily explain the cost breakdown to you to avoid surprises on the bill.

5). Check the Location and View Balance

On the French Riviera, there is often a trade-off between the view and the food. While dining with your feet in the sand on a private beach is a magical experience, the food at some beachfront “paillotes” can be overpriced for the quality offered. If culinary excellence is your priority, focus your search on the Old Town (Vieux Nice) and the Port district, where restaurants cater to repeat local customers rather than one-time tourists.

The joy of dining in Nice extends beyond just the taste of the food; it is about the entire ritual of the meal. Take your time, enjoy a chilled glass of local Rosé de Provence or a crisp white wine from Bellet, and watch the world go by. The Mediterranean lifestyle is about slowing down, and the best restaurants in the city encourage you to linger for hours.

Whether you choose a hidden gem in a cobblestone alley or a chic terrace overlooking the waves, the seafood of Nice offers a direct connection to the culture of the Côte d’Azur. Bon appétit.
