When hunger strikes in the historic capital of Burgundy, the city’s culinary reputation extends far beyond its famous mustard and boeuf bourguignon. While Dijon is undeniably a gastronomic powerhouse, sometimes the soul simply craves the comforting, universal appeal of a perfectly baked pizza. From wood-fired Neapolitan classics to creative French interpretations using local cheeses, the pizza scene here is surprisingly vibrant and diverse.
Navigating the cobbled streets of the old town or the bustling modern districts can leave you spoiled for choice. Whether you are a local looking to switch up your weekend routine or a traveler seeking a break from traditional heavy sauces, finding a quality slice requires insider knowledge. The best spots in town balance high-quality dough, slow fermentation, and a respect for both Italian tradition and Burgundian terroir.
This guide focuses on the establishments that prioritize craftsmanship over convenience. We have evaluated kitchens based on the texture of their crust, the sourcing of their toppings, and the consistency of their service. You will find a mix of cozy date-night venues, family-friendly trattorias, and quick-service slices that punch well above their weight class.
Rather than settling for a generic tourist trap near the Palace of the Dukes, use this curated list to eat like a local. We have scoured the city to bring you venues that are loved by residents for their authenticity and flavor. Prepare to discover everything from blistered cornicione crusts to inventive white pizzas that highlight regional cream and mushrooms.
Below, you will find the definitive guide to the 15 best pizza spots in Dijon, ensuring that your next Italian craving is satisfied with the highest quality ingredients the city has to offer.

Great pizza Sunday night. Good to know they open 7/7. The pizza was delicious, the service was attentive and fast. The owner was there taking care of everything. And it was in a very nice part of Dijon which is the Emile Zola square. Very good! I will be back!

Pizza is good. Pasta was terrible, the worst I ever had. Staff very friendly, location nice and they give some bread and cold water on the house, which is very nice gesture.
Toilets should be cleaned and improved!

We came here because of the good reviews on Google, which were not deserved, and it was a disappointment!
First of all, the food, which was quite mediocre. The two stars are because the only good thing was my son's burger and fries (luckily). The entrecote I ordered medium-cooked was raw all around the edges. The potatoes that came with it were overheated and oily. The burgundy they served us had a horrible aftertaste (open for too long? glasses not very clean?) obviously we didn't drink it.
Secondly, the atmosphere and the staff. When we got to the terrace a man came out of the restaurant and took us to a separate room, a pitiful atmosphere. But the worst thing was the waiter's presence: black nails and fingers yellow from tobacco, and he smelled of cigarette smoke. I would have gotten up and left if my children hadn't been tired and hungry.
Lastly, it goes without saying that it is not a real Italian restaurant.
I do not recommend it to anyone.

Amazing pizza. Perfection. The chef definitely put a lot of thought in there. We went in a cold afternoon after normal lunch hours. It really saved my day.

If I could I gave -100. I had tagliatelle carbonara. It was extremely bad. The pasta was cooked too much. The food was cold. The bacon tasted funny. My stomach asked me to stop eating this. I told the garçon but anyway I had to pay full price. From the 2 bites I had I feel still sick. Do not go there please! Never had this type of experience.

Unbelievably good. Ive walked past this spot so many times, and I kept saying to myself that I need to try it out. I should have come in MUCH sooner than I did, I wasted so much time eating elsewhere... it is now easily my number 1 pizza spot in the city. Incredibly friendly staff. The chef, Giovanni, takes the time to check how each table is doing, which is such a nice touch. The wine was excellent. Everything about this place is extra; extra good food, extra good service, extra good atmosphere. Im looking for my next excuse to come back already.

Best Pizza I had in a while. The dough had a great flavour, air pockets just the right size and a perfect leopard branding. They use high quality ingredients like Bressaola and do their own cremes as alternative bases to pomodoro. Service was great and they attended me in English without any issue🙃
Néo Maillot★★★★★
Some of the best Neapolitan pizza you can get this side of the Alps.
Albeit a long wait for pickup, which the staff politely and explicitly states before you can order, the pizzas are ready on time, and the staff efficient when you go for collection.

OK, I know everyone has their own taste… BUT this casual spot is an absolute gem! Friendly service, great prices, and the best pizza I’ve had away from home—no contest! They even split my pizza into two portions without us asking — such a thoughtful touch! Of course, we showed our appreciation by ordering more Aperol Spritz! 🍕🍹 🤪

Avoid at all costs. Not a 4.5 rated restaurant! This is a chain restaurant group with about a dozen venues in France. Arrived at 7.30pm for our booking and it wasn't particularly busy. We ordered by 8pm and received our starters but not the bottle of wine we had ordered. After we had finished our starters, we had to ask the Manager where our wine was. She brought a bottle of Rose instead of the white we had ordered. Then brought back another white but not the one listed. Our mains arrived just sfter 9pm. Unfortunately they brought a pizza when we ordered the Penne Della Nonna. Had to wait another 20 minutes! Both the Spaghetti Carbonara and Penne were very bland. Very limited wine list. Not a good experience! The 'Manager' was also on her laptop at the front of the restaurant when the three floor staff were struggling.

American Tourist review:
Starting with the food, it was great! The pizza is very Italian style with unique flavors. We got the Gabriella, which was my favorite and the Mia Nonna. Both had fresh ham. We got the spaghetti and meat balls which were very good. The ground beef from the meatballs had good texture and the sauce was good. The noodles are thicker and more filling. We also ordered the appetizer platter which I recommend as well.
Being a pizza place I did think this restaurant would be more family friendly but our noisy baby was not appreciated. We got a lot of dirty looks from other patrons and some staff. With that, bring a kid who is ready to eat at a restaurant. They do have a small kids menu.
Overall I do recommend this restaurant for a sophisticated authentic Italian pizza experience.
Angela Lechuga★★☆☆☆
Service super slow. We waited 30 min to place an order and another 30 min to get our pizzas because the priority is the delivery. They have a nice terrasse in the summer and a good indoors ambiance for cold weather. Good pizza. One of a few places open on a Sunday night in Dijon.

Ordered food to go. Order process easy and ready on arrival. Pasta and pizza dishes tasty and fresh.

Tried a pizza, L’italienne, for lunch today. It was a very good meal. They use excellent products, and the pizza had a good taste and the crust had an excellent texture. I will be back soon to try more versions. Highly recommended.

A bit expensive for takeaway pizza . The pizza was tasty but not as great as the current rating would lead you to believe

Best quality pizza in Dijon to be honest, and i tried all of the best pizza places there . They make the dough as they should, with semolina and all. The ingredients are super quality, they put a lot of it on the pizza, the straciatella is great and. The tiramisu was good as well, very traditional, maybe a bit dry. They make the pizza in front of you and you can also adjust the ingredients as you please.

We ordered pizza for take away. It was ready on time, the service was friendly, the ingredients were good, but the bottom of the pizza was too burnt, which left the aftertaste spoiling the whole impression.
Overall, below the expectations.

Quite sad about the stale dough here
The dough is not leavened well so I had to spit out most of them
The more you chew, the worse you feel
Those toppings are ok but the dough is really tasteless with flaccid texture
It’s not chewy at all
Some surfaces also got rock-like texture….it’s super bad

We have already encountered this while walking in Dijon. A super nice square, with their small restaurant on the corner. A very smooth and pleasant service. We have 2 children who were immediately welcome. Once we were chosen inside, we had to wait 5 minutes. Very very tasty focaccias! Even the salad with burrata was delicious. Very nice, very tasty and affordable!

They serve great focaccia with many different toppings including vegetarian options - really some of the best focaccia I ever had! We went there twice, had contact with different staff and they were all very nice and helpful. Can recommend for just a quick snack or a meal.

The bread on this focaccia was superb!! The delicate toppings helped to balance it off beautifully. Each serve looked big, but because it is so light, one doesn't fill over full.

Lots of flies in the restaurant, the pizza has a strange taste of yeast. At least the white focaccia was vegan.

Well deserved rating, great food
Where? Toison D'Or mall, ground floor
What? Authentic pizza, pasta and more
Why? Great quality and service
We were struggling a bit to find a place to have lunch, but were so lucky. Our French is not great so we got a friendly English speaking server. Quality of the food is really good, they promote the local Italian produce and producers. We had arrabiata pasta, marinara and diavola pizza. Great taste. The fresh juices were nice, as was the decor.
Aleksandr Antonov★☆☆☆☆
Very disappointed with the food. The pastas here are hastily made, and the chicken felt more like can chicken. The desserts are OK but nothing to rave about, and the hot tea amount is super tiny. And given all these, the price is quite regular - not cheap.
I’ve had pastas at the rest stops in France that tasted great, even though it’s a rest stop restaurant that’s supposed to be “fast-food”-like. Expected more from this place.
Maybe my review will help to be a heads up for those thinking to eat here.

The worst pasta I ever had. It was rubbery with some parts dry, sign that it was pre cooked and poorly stored. The topping was discrete

This is a lively Italian restaurant with satisfying pizza and some pretty good pastas. If you are able to sit outside on a nice evening it would be my recommendation. The service was very friendly to me and caring. The food was good not my favorite Italian of all time but I still enjoyed the meal overall. The pasta carbonara was a good choice and the pizza diavola had good flavor and crispy crust. Overall it’s a solid choice for Italian and not super expensive.

Authentic and fresh Italian food. The owner and staff are Italian. The food came quickly and was delicious. Space is limited, so a reservation is recommended.
Taylor Walet★☆☆☆☆
Disappointed and will not return. The service was friendly and the atmosphere not bad but the food was tasteless. The meat and cheese plate had four small slices of cheese, while the meat is adequate at best. The wine is over priced for what you get. The carbonara was devoid of all flavor and tasted like buttered noodles with cheap bacon without any cheese. The pizza was okay, nothing special, but over hyped from other reviews.

I went for two beers and the waitress answered me in bad manera because i said i had no reservations. I offered to go away but she said "stay'. Another man asked me what i wanted and i said two beers. After some minutes the first waitress came and she expected me to eat something. When i told her i 've just came for the beers, she told me rudely that the place was only to eat. I paid and went home for diner.

To ensure your dining experience is exceptional, it helps to know what separates a good pizzeria from a great one. While the list above provides specific recommendations, understanding the local nuances will help you order with confidence. Keep these practical tips in mind when deciding where to eat or how to customize your order.
Prioritize Wood-Fired Ovens
The hallmark of an authentic pizza is a blistered, slightly charred crust that is soft on the inside. Look for venues that advertise a four à bois (wood-fired oven). The intense heat cooks the pizza in 60 to 90 seconds, locking in moisture and creating a texture that electric ovens simply cannot replicate.
Look for DOP Ingredients
The best pizzerias in Dijon are transparent about their sourcing. If you see San Marzano tomatoes (DOP), Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, or specific Italian flour brands listed on the menu, it is a strong indicator of quality. This shows the chef respects tradition and is willing to pay for superior imports.
Embrace Local Burgundian Toppings
While staying true to Italian roots is important, the French touch can be magical. Don’t hesitate to try pizzas featuring Époisses cheese, local mushrooms, or smoked regional ham. These ingredients melt beautifully and offer a unique "Burgundy-meets-Naples" flavor profile you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
Book Ahead for Peak Hours
Dijon is a compact city, and the best tables fill up quickly, especially on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. If you have your heart set on a specific spot from the list above, call ahead or reserve via their website. This is particularly crucial for smaller venues in the historic center where seating is limited.
Check for Lunch Formulas
If you are exploring the city on a budget or want a quick midday meal, look for the Formule Midi. Many high-end pizza restaurants offer a lunch special that includes a pizza, a salad, and a drink for a very reasonable price. It is the best way to sample top-tier pizza without the dinner price tag.
Ask About the Dough Hydration
For pizza enthusiasts, the texture of the dough is everything. A high-hydration dough (often left to proof for 48 to 72 hours) results in a light, airy, and easily digestible crust. Don’t be afraid to ask the server how long the dough is fermented; a knowledgeable staff will be happy to explain their process.
Dijon’s pizza landscape is a testament to the city’s ability to honor tradition while embracing global influences. Whether you opt for a strict Neapolitan margherita or a bold creation topped with local truffles, the dedication to quality is evident in every bite. These restaurants prove that you don’t have to travel to Italy to experience a world-class pie.
As you plan your culinary itinerary, remember that the best meal is often the one where the atmosphere matches the food. Venture beyond the main squares, explore the side streets, and let your senses guide you to a warm oven and the smell of fresh basil. Buon appetito!
