15 Best Bars in Reims

Reims is a city that runs on ritual. By day, the clink of a champagne coupe echoes through limestone cellars, and by night, locals trade marble tasting rooms for dimly lit counters, natural wine caves, and brasseries that hum until the early hours. While the city is world-famous for its grand maisons, the true character of its drinking culture is found in the spaces between: a hidden courtyard bar, a bottle shop with a turntable, or a cocktail den run by someone who knows your name by the second visit.

The drinking scene here is refreshingly unpretentious. You are just as likely to find a retired vigneron sipping a local blanc de noirs as you are a student ordering a hop-forward IPA from a nearby microbrewery. The best bars in Reims balance reverence for the region’s heritage with a restless curiosity for what is next, whether that means low-intervention wines, small-batch spirits, or zero-proof creations that deserve their own spotlight.

Because the city is compact and walkable, bar-hopping feels effortless. The historic centre unfolds around Place Drouet-d’Erlon, the cathedral, and the Boulingrin, but some of the most rewarding addresses sit quietly on side streets where tourists rarely wander. Knowing where to turn can transform a simple evening into a memorable crawl through architecture, atmosphere, and glassware.

This guide is built for travellers who want to drink like a local rather than simply check off famous names. It favours places with genuine hospitality, thoughtful curation, and a sense of place. You will find champagne bars, yes, but also beer-focused taprooms, wine caves, and cocktail spots that reflect the evolving tastes of the city itself.

Every recommendation below has been chosen for consistency, atmosphere, and the quality of what lands on the table or the bar top. Whether you are starting with an aperitif before dinner or settling in for a late-night conversation, Reims offers a depth of drinking experiences that rewards the curious.

Here are the best bars in Reims to put on your list.

A truly excellent beer lover's pub with a super friendly knowledgeable vibe from the staff. Quirky interior with games available to play. If you're into your beer, make a beeline here. One of only a few pubs in France permitted to sell Rochfort Trappiste beer on tap.
Jon Leadbeater★★★★★
Spent only one afternoon and night in Reims enroute to southern France. I took my family (2 kids, 10,14) and wife to this pub and it was great! Went on a Wednesday eve about 8.30. Very welcoming, nice little buzz. The guy behind the bar was really nice. Great choice of drinks, table football which kids loved, had football on the TV and fairly busy for a good atmosphere. Would certainly recommend a visit!!

We are a family of four from the uk 🇬🇧 visiting Reims centre and we came across this what we thought would be a small bar! I was taken back how nice and smart this place was, with a fantastic bar tender to suit. We sat outside enjoying our drinks and eating some sweets we got from a sweet shop not far away!
Gail Johnson★★★★★
Happy hour meant 2 beers were very good value. Good rock music and sport TV . Staff spoke enough English if your French isn't good. Stopped for a beer and stayed for 3.

Didn't eat there only stopped for liquid refreshments. Partner was happy with his beer and my apricot juice was good tasting. Service was friendly even though only one person was there. A very cute little dog was walking around. Will go back.

We enjoyed some drinks on the back terrace while staying for a weekend in Reims - super friendly staff - amazing drinks at a correct price. They even offered a free ice cream for our little one. Looking for a drink in the busy promenade, stop here !

Pretty fun place. We were lured inside because of the way it looked. We stayed for a few drinks, but left when it got late and the place was filled with drunk kids going clubbing.

As an interracial couple we walked up sober at 2215 and were instantly refused admission with no reason given. It seems prior reviews mentioning a racist bouncer (pictured) are accurate.

We happened to walk past this bar from our hotel. Stopped for some food, which was so good!! Great atmosphere - live music was setting up as we came in, looked on Facebook to see who was playing, an Irish band, didn't stay for music, but I'm sure it was good! Reminded us of a bar from home (Shropshire, England)
Christine Butler★★★★★
Great bar. Foods on point! Crowds good live band.. Staff friendly.

Popped in for an afternoon beer when the bar is less busy... superb collection of well kept Belgian beers and friendly bar service. €7 - €8 a half litre on average. Best atmosphere in the outside seating.
Melody Mack★★★★★
Great beer selection and music on the stereo. Table service available, or just go to the bar to order, and you'll be in good hands. I really enjoyed my visit and can never resist a BIG glass of Belgian beer.
Roberto Cañadillas Muñoz★★★★☆
Good beer and atmosphere. A bit noisy if you wanna talk. Still worth a visit

Service is the worst waitress ignored us 3 time since preference to locals
Ron Stephenson★★★★★
Great bar with a fun and attentive staff. Drinks are good and the atmosphere always lively. When I was here there was an altercation between a very large drunk belligerent man. The security handled the situation very professionally to get the man under control and removed away from the property.

First of all, the service, amazing!!!! Seriously the waiters we had were both amazing! The woman that took our order was super nice and then the guy that brought our food and then served the rest of the time, he was an absolute gem! He chatted a bit with us and made us feel super welcome. He was also super helpful and gave us recommendation on where to go for dinner as we were only there for 1 full day. We ordered the lobster roll and Croc remois truffle, coffee and champagne. The food was good, but the service was spectacular. Thank you!
Babaaissa Naziad Feriane★★★★★
Excellent restaurant! The service is marvelous—kind and very attentive. The outdoor seating offers a fabulous view right in front of the cathedral. A superb spot to admire this beautiful centuries effort to built! Finally, the food is good and definitely worth trying. I highly recommend this place.
Liske Bruinsma★★★★☆
We had a great experience here. They had great tasting options, they were attentive in their service but we were a little disappointed in how little they told us about the actual wines, sure they can tell us the grape composition, but what would also be great is the flavor profile of the wine and good things to pair it with, but that’s our personal experience. Overall great little shop to pop in to to try different things, would go back!
Ryan Larson★★★★★
Amazing champagne bar with lovely service, food and a gorgeous view of the court square and cathedral. The selection of champagnes is perfection and you always find something unique enjoy.
Leo Perez★★★★★
@leoperezphotos — 16 very good champagne by the glass tasting options - the asparagus, smoked salmon, and lobster were a perfect complement. Ricardo is a great server - knowledgeable and always attentive, be sure to ask for him.

Absolutely disgraceful treatment We visited this pub this evening and witnessed the appalling treatment of a couple. They had been sitting at their table since around 6pm, had bought several rounds of drinks and there was no reservation sign. Staff repeatedly asked them to move because other customers wanted the table, despite the couple simply asking to finish the few mouthfuls of their drinks before leaving. A man claiming to be the owner then became involved and argued with them for around 10 minutes. He made insulting comments about them being English and, unbelievably, took the woman’s phone from the table and walked away with it. When they followed him to get their property back, bouncers became involved and they were thrown out. We were sitting nearby and witnessed the whole thing. As fellow English visitors, we found the behaviour absolutely disgraceful and followed the couple outside afterwards to make sure they were okay. Whatever the disagreement over the table, there was no excuse for the way they were treated or for the comments about their nationality. English visitors to Reims — I would strongly recommend staying away from this establishment.
Enelyn Uri★★★★★
Great experience at this bar-restaurant! The food was delicious, the drinks were well-crafted, and the ambiance was relaxed and enjoyable. Friendly staff and good vibes all around.

Needed somewhere to watch the Euro final and this was the only place that seemed to have it on. But good service, nice atmosphere. Food looked good but we weren’t eating.

A great local bar. No nonsense, no judgement just good alcohol, bar snacks and atmosphere. It does not pretend to be anything it’s not. The staff don’t speak much English but it does not matter.

The BEST wine bar in Reims, with an infinite variety to choose from and so many great champagnes to taste. I absolutely adored this place! If you are visiting Reims you should check out this Wine bar, it has everything you will be looking for when visiting Reims. Also The tapas is very good, the mixed platter of Cheese and meat is delicious. The service is amazing, the waiter is always very friendly and smiling (tall blond guy with glasses and a lady with dark hair), well done to you both, you both made our experience very enjoyable.

Well, this is a must-visit address for any wine lover (amateur or connoisseur !) Aline is a wonderful host, quick to help choose the bottle that best suits each client's palate ! We went in looking to try a Syrah bottle ; the first she recommended (can't remember the name) was quite nice, light, fruity ! We ordered a second different Syrah bottle - Château de L’ou : Infiniment 2017 - which was really amazing. More depth, astringency, and a mild finish ! Her advice was spot on ! We also ordered appetizers ; the beef empanadas were super delicious ! Till next time...! Update 07/02/24 : Still a great address to taste excellent wine and enjoy a delicious meal! Went there today with 2 wine lovers, and it was exquisite. The boss (Aline) is super friendly and helpful to get the best wine experience with the dishes ordered. I tried the brocoli and ham pie; great starter, fresh fluffy pie with nice flavours. The main dish was Spanish pork meatballs called "albondigas" marinated in a delicious tomato sauce, with grenailles potatoes. Very tasty dish, savorous meat and potatoes cooked perfectly. The whole accompanied with a Syrah bottle "Infiniment" that was fruity and light. Never disappointed when coming to this joint!

Céleste Robillard★★★★★
A fantastic champagne bar in Reims! They have a really impressive selection of 10 champagnes available by the glass, which makes it a great place to discover and try something new. The personalised advice by Odran is a real highlight, knowledgeable and genuinely tailored to what you like, rather than just being given a list to choose from. I also loved the focus on the local area, with local products as well as artwork from local artists on display and available to buy. A lovely, welcoming place that feels very authentically Champenois. Definitely worth a visit!
Athletics★★★★★
This is probably the best bar for champagne in Reims. A large assortment of different champagnes by the bottle and by the glass. A unique atmosphere right in the city centre, modern but also classy interior with a relaxed music playing decently in the background. Super friendly staff with knowledge about champagne and the region ready to make you the right recommendation for your pallet. Additionally they have a boutique where you can buy the champagne and other nice little things they offer directly. You have all the big names there, vintage bottles but also smaller producers for a great price. Of course you can also get non alcoholic beverage or just a coffee there. We loved our stay there and I want to come back one hundred percent.
Ellen Wichert★★★★★
Amazing cute place with great live music and drinks
Marie Szczurowski★★★★★
A charming place that I wholeheartedly recommend! I booked part of this establishment to celebrate my doctorate, surrounded by about thirty guests. And what a wonderful surprise! Everything was absolutely perfect: excellent champagne, a refined cocktail reception featuring high-quality products, and to top it all off, a pianist who created a truly magical atmosphere. The venue is splendid, combining old-world charm with elegant and sophisticated decor. An ideal setting for an event or simply for drinks, with their impressive and high-quality wine list. All my guests were delighted! The service was impeccable, the servers attentive, discreet, and very efficient. A special mention goes to the owner, who was remarkably kind and orchestrated the event perfectly. Every detail had been carefully considered and anticipated, so all we had to do was fully enjoy this wonderful moment. An address I recommend 100%, without the slightest hesitation! If you're planning an event, you can trust them completely. The team is extremely accommodating, attentive to your needs, and dedicated to providing a high-quality service. All this at a particularly attractive price! A huge thank you to the entire team for your professionalism, warm welcome, and commitment.

Had a drink and onion soup while waiting to get a train. Location is right across the road from the train station. Busy spot, all tables were full at lunch time. Nice ambiance. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Lise Lynen★☆☆☆☆
This is not a restaurant. On Instagram they show nice plates but in reality it’s all just fried snacks. We reserved weeks ago but had to sit in a sofa upstairs , didn’t even get a proper table. There is no service at all, we had to order drinks at the bar and take all (expensive) cocktails upstairs ourselves. The “food” is to be ordered and paid online. I really don’t understand how this “restaurant” gets 4 stars or more from people.
Thomas★☆☆☆☆
I would NOT recommend this place. First of it is run by teenager who do their own funny handshakes in front of waiting guests, you have to order drinks at the bar and then bring them yourself to your table. Not to mention the food, this has been the first time for me that i leave multiple dishes unfinished because it is that disgusting. Sorry but horrible service and the food is not good. Such a shame because the looks of the restaurant look promising. There are much better choices to pick from in Reims
Mirjam★★★★☆
Nice and easy place to go to. Just grab a table and scan the QR code. Small tapas portions which were good but not amazing. Service was a bit all over the place as the restaurant was packed but all in all a good experience.

Feels a bit like a small slice of Belgium in the middle of Reims. Big choice of beers, lively vibe, bartenders cool and easygoing. You come here, you switch off, you chat with friends, maybe watch some football or whatever game is on. Just a great place to relax and reset. Not every night has to be about champagne - sometimes a good beer bar is exactly what you need

Tips for Enjoying the Bar Scene in Reims

A little local knowledge goes a long way in Reims, especially if you want to avoid the tourist crush and drink at the pace the city actually prefers. These practical tips will help you navigate everything from opening hours to glass etiquette with confidence.

1. Start before dinner, not after. Many of the best wine and champagne bars close by 10pm or 11pm on weeknights. Locals typically begin with an aperitif around 6pm or 7pm, then move to dinner. If you wait until late, you may miss the very places you came to visit.

2. Ask for a “coupe de champagne au verre.” Most serious bars pour by the glass from smaller growers rather than only the big houses. Asking what is open by the glass often unlocks bottles you would never find on a standard wine list.

3. Embrace the terroir beyond bubbles. Reims sits at the edge of both Champagne and the Montagne de Reims, but it is also close to exciting beer and cider producers. Do not feel obligated to drink champagne at every stop. A local craft beer or a natural Loire red can be a refreshing reset.

4. Walk between neighbourhoods. The area around Place Drouet-d’Erlon is convenient but often busy. Walking ten minutes toward the Boulingrin, the cathedral, or the Vesle canal reveals quieter bars with more personal service and better value.

5. Check for seasonal closures in August. Many independent bars and wine shops close for part of August while owners take their own holidays. If you are visiting in late summer, call ahead or check social media before making a special trip.

6. Carry a little cash. While most places accept cards, smaller wine bars and bottle shops sometimes have a minimum spend or prefer cash for single glasses. A few euros in your pocket keeps things simple.

Reims rewards the unhurried drinker. The best evenings here rarely follow a strict itinerary; they unfold across a zinc-topped counter, a candlelit wine cave, or a sidewalk table where the cathedral bells mark the hour. Let the city set its own tempo, and you will leave with a deeper understanding of why this corner of France drinks so well.

Whether you are visiting for a single night or a full week, the bars of Reims offer a masterclass in balance: heritage and experimentation, bubbles and bitter hops, grand plazas and hidden passages. All you have to do is raise a glass.
