12 Budget-Friendly Hotels near the Louvre Museum

Finding a comfortable place to stay in Paris doesn’t have to drain your travel budget before you even set foot in a gallery. The area surrounding the Louvre Museum is one of the most desirable locations in the city, placing you within walking distance of the Seine, the Palais Royal, and the bustling districts of Le Marais and Saint-Germain-des-Prés. While this historic 1st arrondissement is known for its luxury five-star palaces, it also harbors a surprising number of affordable gems.

Contrary to popular belief, "budget-friendly" in central Paris does not have to mean sacrificing charm or comfort. Many smaller, family-run boutique hotels and modernized guesthouses offer competitive rates, especially when booked in advance or during the shoulder seasons. These properties often maximize their limited square footage with clever design, focusing on immaculate cleanliness, high-quality bedding, and exceptional service rather than sprawling lobbies or unnecessary amenities.

The key to securing a great deal near the Louvre lies in understanding the geography of the neighborhood. While staying directly on Rue de Rivoli might come at a premium, venturing just a few minutes north into the 2nd arrondissement or east toward Châtelet–Les Halles can save you a significant amount of money. Because Paris is a remarkably walkable city, staying a ten-minute stroll from the glass pyramid often provides the best balance of price and proximity.

When evaluating affordable accommodation, savvy travelers should look beyond the star rating. A two-star hotel in Paris can often provide a better night’s sleep and a more authentic experience than a generic chain hotel further out. These hidden treasures frequently offer complimentary breakfasts, 24-hour reception desks, and invaluable local advice from owners who have lived in the neighborhood for generations.

For art lovers, the benefit of staying near the museum extends far beyond convenience. Waking up early allows you to beat the crowds at the Porte des Lions entrance or enjoy a quiet morning coffee in the Cour Carrée before the tour buses arrive. Furthermore, being centrally located means you can easily return to your room for a midday rest before heading out to explore the city’s evening illuminations.

The following selection focuses on properties that consistently deliver value, cleanliness, and a prime location without the exorbitant price tag. We have prioritized hotels that have received high marks for noise isolation, a rare commodity in the bustling center of Paris, as well as those offering flexible check-in policies for travelers arriving on late trains or flights.

Whether you are a solo backpacker, a couple on a romantic getaway, or a family introducing children to the Mona Lisa for the first time, there is an option here to suit your financial needs. Here is a curated list of the best budget-friendly accommodations located within a short walk of the world’s most famous museum.

We had 3 people stay in a 1 bedroom suite with 1 single bed and 1 double bed. The apartment is very clean and looks relatively newly renovated. Including very nice bathroom with standing shower. Clean and plenty pressure for shower water. The room have no ac but have ceiling fans ( new style). It was April so weather was good without AC. Location is prime.. near Lourve and central to many areas for Paris and shops. It also has small kitchen and cookwares, because my stay was only for couple days we didn’t cook. Because why would you when Paris have awesome food all around. There is no reception but can call and talk. A none problem for us. Fantastic experience!

May 31, 2026 Disliked: cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property condition I can only say that I DO NOT recommend it. There are no signs around the area. It was difficult to find, especially at first time. As soon as you enter, the lobby has a very unpleasant smell mould and urine. There's no air conditioning in the room, and the fan didn't help, so I just opened the window. Otherwise, I could get heatstroke. In the early mornings, there was roadwork going on right outside the window, accompanied by beeping and loud conversations... he bathroom sink was clogged because it filled with water within seconds of use, making it unusable. I used the kitchen sink. There were only two tea bags left...but no cups, so I drank tea from a glass. Good location not worth the price.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The only, slightly, redeeming quality about this 'hotel' is its location. The lobby and hallways smell like sewage, the rooms are tiny - barely enough room for two people, the sheets and towels were dirty and old (ours had blood stains), only 1 outlet functioned in our room, and the elevator has a max 200kg limit. I would strongly recommend that you look somewhere else for lodging.

The location is very nice. We stayed at the top floor so it wasn't that loud at night. The room is small but quite lovely. Unfortunately the bed is very small and very uncomfortable. Everything looked clean besides the shower window which is very moldy. The whole building has a very bad smell to it. Overall it is fine for a short stay but if you want to stay at the hotel some time to get some rest, I cannot recommed it at all.
Daniele Mancuso★☆☆☆☆
Attention: misleading listing regarding the beds. I booked a French bed, but there was only a single bed. The room was cold and poorly insulated. The cleaning staff made a lot of noise early in the morning and, on the last day before check-out, they knocked twice to ask whether I had paid the city tax, which I had already paid. The bathroom sink was practically clogged. I informed the property immediately but received no response. I do not recommend booking this property.

No air conditioning in any rooms. The rooms are super super small. Much smaller than you are thinking. The fan on the ceiling barely worked and didn't blow any air down on you. No front desk, no concierge, big bottom to the main entrance door so you have to lift luggage up over it. Super tiny elevator that fits one adult and 1 piece of luggage max. This is a very low end Airbnb not a hotel by any means. Do not stay here, there are plenty of actual hotels by the Lourve.

We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation. The location is truly amazing, everything you need is within walking distance, and most places can be reached in just 15–20 minutes. Even if you want to walk into Paris, it’s about a 30-minute walk, and the city is very walkable, so there’s really no need to use public transportation when staying here. During one of the mornings there was a power outage, which was completely beyond the hosts’ control. Nevertheless, they handled the situation very professionally and kindly offered us a full breakfast the following day as an apology, which we really appreciated. Overall, a great place to stay with an excellent location and thoughtful hosts. We would definitely recommend it.

Very good location if you just want to go out and be right in the centre. We had issues with our room: door wouldn’t open and couldn’t get to our things. Staff kindly gave us another room but without our things (+no charger!!!) we couldn’t do anything and basically lost a day and had to cancel reservations. Handyman apparently thought it wasn’t urgent. And horrible smell in the hallway

WS Louvre Casanova - WS ROOMS: Unacceptable experience - Bed bug infestation We stayed one night at this property in June 2025, and the experience was absolutely unacceptable. The next day, my partner and I discovered multiple bed bug bites. We immediately contacted the property, which acknowledged the issue by phone and promised compensation. Since then, despite multiple follow-ups by email and phone, we have received no concrete solution. More than a month has passed, and all we get are vague responses about "waiting for a manager's approval", with no regard for the serious inconvenience we suffered: itching, stress, sleepless nights, and the fear of contaminating our home and belongings. Booking.com was informed but has not provided a resolution either. I strongly advise against booking this place. It shows a complete lack of accountability and care for guests, even in the face of serious health concerns. PS: The roof fan doesn't cool at all. On the other hand, it distributes dust throughout the room.
Jian Chen★☆☆☆☆
A particularly bad experience! We stayed at this hotel after a tiring day and found that the kitchen utensils were covered in oil stains and fingerprints, and the fan could not be used when the lights were turned off (which means you either have to leave a light to use the fan, which greatly affects sleep quality). The worst thing is that when you just lay down, you found blood stains on the bed sheet and blanket, which is the most basic hygiene bottom line. This hotel cannot even do this well. Please do not stay. I was also deceived by the pictures on the website. There are many better hotels to choose from at such prices, and this hotel is simply a disaster.

The room was very comfortable and clean. Plenty of space to hang up your clothes, a kettle in the room made it nice to make a coffee in the morning. It was nice to open up the French doors and get fresh air in and to watch the early morning foot traffic as they left for work. It felt like you were part of the community.

Staff where amazing. Could not fault. bottled Water always on hand for free. Fam in room if needed. Room was small but had a balcony. Little outdated in decor in places. But satisfied needs. But clean and maintenence good. Didnt get breakfast.so cant comment on that. Local food Korean style in area. Little too far out for us location wise. For the money we paid was good. Small hotel . Fully working lift. Spiral stairs. Wouldn't stay again jusy due to location for us. But would recommend for anyone on a budget

I chose this hotel because I was drawn to the fact that Baudelaire once stayed here during his early, lesser-known years. From the balcony of my classic-style room, I could even see the National Library — a wonderful setting for anyone who loves literature. The neighborhood is full of charming cafés, restaurants, and boutiques, and the location is fantastic. The Louvre Museum, the Opéra Garnier, and the Palais-Royal are all about a 10-minute walk away. I truly enjoyed staying in such an inspiring and convenient area. That said, I wouldn’t recommend having high expectations for the breakfast😅
Josh Edwards★★★★★
Hotel Baudelaire is conveniently located just north of the Louvre near several metro stops that can get you across the city! The staff are incredible, every single one was very helpful spoke great English and were very accommodating of my poor French attempts (Merci!). The beds were firm. The showers had excellent water pressure, and it was a wonderful base of operations for our week long trip! Thank you to the staff for helping make Paris magical for my wife and our friends!

Hotel Baudelaire Opéra is a solid choice if you’re looking for a well-located, no-frills stay in Paris. As a three-star hotel, it offers good value for money, with decent rooms that are generally clean, even if not perfect. The location is convenient, and the service stands out as particularly friendly and welcoming, making the overall experience easy and comfortable. A reliable option if you want something simple that does the job well. Quietly rated: worth stopping.

The hotel is at great location. Great breakfast. Nice staff. Only situation is that the air conditioner never worked. We were lucky enough that only one day was hot and employees just recommend to open the windows. They Didn’t do anything to make air conditioner work in 10 days. In these days (june-july 26) would be impossible to stay in that room. Take that in account if you go in summer.
Leo Rocha★☆☆☆☆
Booked through Booking.com expecting the room shown in the photos. What we got was a box with a fan on a 33-degree day, zero mention of no air conditioning at check-in, and zero action after complaining to reception twice. The staff played dumb the whole time, pretending nothing was wrong so they wouldn’t have to deal with it. When we pushed harder, the first receptionist claimed the entire hotel had no AC. That was a lie. A second receptionist later admitted it was our room only. Meanwhile, the reception desk itself was perfectly air conditioned. We paid full price for a room that wasn’t fit for the conditions, with staff who lied to our faces rather than fix the problem. The photos are heavily edited. The rooms are small. Before you book: call ahead and confirm your room has AC. Don’t trust the listing. Don’t trust the photos. And if you need basic comfort in a Paris heatwave, look elsewhere.

Great location but the queen room we got was very small for two people. We only have carry-on baggage so expect to be tight for space if you have any large suitcases. Area felt very safe, easy to get around with metro nearby, lots of asian restaurants around. Breakfast was not worth the 17 euros per person but in a pinch before heading out was handy, we paid for the convenience of breakfast I guess. Just meh for a fairly expensive stay for our 2 nights there.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with a friend during a city break. For the price, you can’t expect 5* accommodation, but it had everything we needed - a bed, toilet and shower. The shower space was quite small and a bit challenging to use. However, if you’re not planning to spend much time in the hotel and want to explore Paris, it’s great value for the location. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even better.

Hôtel du Pont Neuf offers that classic charm you’d hope for in a traditional Paris hotel. First off, the location is hard to beat — super central with plenty of cafés just steps away. You’re also within walking distance of many key sights, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. The staff were another highlight. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which really made a difference throughout our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable when we arrived, and overall, we had a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you’re looking for a cozy, well-located spot in Paris.

A 2 star hotel in a 5 Star location. Rooms are small, restroom has a persistent faint rotten egg like odor, the paint on the walls are peeling, everything appears to held together by duct tape/stucco and the wifi never worked from day one. Its location elevated this hotel to five stars. It's within walking distance to a major shopping district, cafes/restaurants, minutes away from The Louvre, Notre Dame, and the Les Halles Metro station. The staff were are friendly.
Tony da Costa★☆☆☆☆
Bathrooms are terrible and smell awful. Floors are not clean. Very noisy area. Staff demands that you leave your key behind whenever you go out. No elevator and narrow stairs make getting luggage to room difficult.
Serra★★★★☆
⭐ Honest review for budget travelers – great location, no luxury, but no surprises either! ⭐ I stayed here mainly because of the location — it’s incredibly central and honestly one of the most affordable options in this area. That alone makes it a great find for budget travelers. Yes, the hotel is old. Very old. Everything from the doors to the furniture is clearly from another decade (or three). But it’s not dirty — just dated. The rooms are tiny. There’s a bed, a small table, and a wardrobe. That’s it. If you’re planning to be out exploring all day and just need a place to sleep and shower, it works. But fair warning: the shower is very small — moving around is definitely a challenge. Also, there are very few power outlets. If you travel with lots of gadgets like I do, bring a power strip or adapter. That said, I got exactly what I paid for — no more, no less — and I’m totally fine with that. Staff at the reception were all very kind and helpful. There’s always someone at the front desk, day and night, which I appreciated. There’s no elevator, so if you have trouble with stairs, this might not be the place for you. But honestly? The location makes up for everything else. You can walk almost anywhere you’d want to go, and public transport is right around the corner. If you’re realistic about your expectations, this hotel absolutely delivers.

Amazing stay at Relais Du Louvre! The customer service was exceptional, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The rooms were beautiful with a charming boutique feel, and everything was clean and well maintained. The elevator was surprisingly great (a nice bonus in Paris!), and the air conditioning worked phenomenally, which made our stay very comfortable. The location is fantastic and made it easy to explore the city. The only minor downside was that the shower was a bit small, but it certainly didn’t take away from the overall experience. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return!

We stayed here in the summer of 2023 and It keeps recurring to me how well this hotel established our stay, and set the stage for a wonderful vacation week in Paris. We travelled as a family of four. The hotel facility was lovely- it did not appear corporate; rather it was a smaller hotel with great personalized service. The breakfast baskets in the morning were high quality and adorable. The accommodations were both modern and traditional, and well planned. But what I most remember were the lovely staff at the front desk. They were so dedicated to helping us plan our week- it felt like they were constantly at work to make sure we were able to enjoy ourselves both in the hotel, and with the activities we planned. The warmth of their dedication to their guests was so meaningful to us, and really filled us with happiness an made our trip special. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

First time in Paris and this tiny hotel located right next to the Louvre with the Eiffel tower visible just several steps towards the Seine, an old cathedral adjacent and visible from our window. Great personal service in this cozy hotel where your are always personally greeted. The windows open to the fresh air. While there is traffic along the Seine, the rooms itself is usually quiet even with the windows open and you are not blasted by the sounds of traffic. Breakfast, which is extra at $16€ per person is delivered to your room. It was delicious with the usual croissants, baguette, optimal yogurt, choice of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, and fresh squeezed juice. Turns out there was too much food for us to eat. Conveniently located right next to the Point Neuf metro station and easily walkable from Les Halles station which connects to the Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) via the rail (RER). Took us about 1 hour to slowly walk to the Eiffel tower with plenty of stops along the way. The room was spacious enough for the two of us and our 10 year old child. The building itself is rather old but this adds to the charm and there are no visible deficiencies.

Boutique Historic Hotel in the 1st, walk around the corner and you're at the Louvre or the Pont Neuf bridge, Metro and bus also. Walk to the Isle & Notre Dame. I love the view of the rooftops out the window, which not only has a privacy shade but also a Blackout Shade in case you want to sleep in. The Hotel Site has pictures of the bedside and the non-working fireplace which is a nice aesthetic however I thought I would add the other views of the room that I enjoyed. The benefit of the elevator is terrific and it fit my husband myself and our 2 carry on suitcases, we also enjoyed taking the stairs a couple times even if we were on the 6th floor- I love a circular staircase. Room 62 fantastic. has to be the best location and well worth the price. If you have a morning breakfast it's wonderful in your room to have time to get ready and then go out for the day. There's actually enough croissant or bread and ham and cheese to take yourself a little snack for the day. The only negative for room 62 would be if you have some mobility issue and can't step into a high bathtub. The bath has the European shower and half glass. the private toilet area is very nice with the built-in bidet and heated seat. Very nice on a cold morning. The people are so wonderful and helpful it makes the perfect location even better.
Jeff Savarino★★★★★
Located right across the street from the louvre. Located right near the metro, walking distance to many attractions such as the Seine and the Eiffel Tower. The rooms are comfortable albeit on the tighter side (standard European room). I can’t say enough positive things about the staff. They are accommodating, kind, and lovely to interact with. They truly do go above and beyond making us feel welcome and ensuring that we enjoy our stay with them.

Such a fun way for 4 people to share a room. Really friendly staff who helped with our early check in and making us feel welcome, and same with checking out and offering to hold our luggage for the day. There was also a free mini bar included and roof windows for ventilation. The location is excellent with the louvre only 10 minutes away and lots of cafes and restaurants surrounding it. All for a very reasonable price too. Would definitely recommend.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The location was extremely convenient for our itinerary. Most major attractions, including the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, and the Pantheon, were around €15 by Uber, while the Louvre and Palais Garnier were within walking distance. The atmosphere of the hotel was comfortable and relaxing. We stayed in a deluxe room, which offered enough space even though we had an extra suitcase for our pre-wedding photoshoot, including a wedding gown and evening dresses. Considering the price, the amenities were very satisfactory, including the hairdryer and WiFi. The room was also very clean, and we did not experience any noise issues during our stay. The highlight, however, was the hotel staff. They were extremely helpful, kind, and responsive throughout our stay. They were also willing to assist us via WhatsApp, which made communication much easier and removed any language barrier. This was especially valuable, as communication in French had been one of the more challenging parts of our trip. Overall, I would certainly choose this hotel again if I return.

We picked the Dauphine Saint Germain hotel based upon its location and reasonable price - so glad we made that choice! First, the hotel is in the heart of the Left Bank with the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Musée d'Orsay, Latin Quarter, and Luxembourge Garden all within a short walk. Saint Germain is a happening street, lively until the wee hours. Our clean room faced the courtyard, thus extremely quiet and peaceful. This was important to us after the chaos of the city. All members of the staff were kind and helpful. Example: We asked to check in very early (before noon). They couldn't promise, of course, yet our room was available when we arrived - outstanding! The hotel had a cozy bar which is open 24/7 where we could chat with other guests. We highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing stay in January at the Hotel Dauphine. Staff are attentive and available, competent and courteous. They were always available to answer questions. Rooms are clean and bathrooms recently remodeled. Breakfast is high quality and has some hot offerings which is rare for a smaller hotel. One of the best things about this hotel is the location. You can reach multiple museums and monuments on foot quickly. Neighborhood restaurants are historic and delicious. Great for people wanting to hit tourist attractions but also get some of the local shopping and cafe lifestyle.
Joanna Vasquez★★★★☆
We are so happy we booked this hotel. I was greeted by a lovely concierge who was extremely helpful upon arrival. My room was actually ready early morning and was given the opportunity to check in early! The small twin room was really cute and very in the style of Parisian decor, dark wood beams, exposed, beautiful blue, and white tapestries walls with a French country theme. It had a sitting desk that also housed the television and the teapot. Loved the little detail of the tea pot to make tea in the room, as well as the variety of teas provided. It also had a small wardrobe where I was able to hang up my coats which helped with the organization of the room since it was two of us splitting it. My cousin and I both loved how comfortable the bed was and the beautiful tub. I will say that if you are a person who struggles with stepping in and out of things, maybe the bathrooms aren’t for you, but we loved the tub. The bathroom also had a blow dryer, which was an awesome perk. We saw that they served breakfast every morning although we didn’t try it. It looked like a good mix of pastries, yogurts, fruits, and charcuterie. They do offer hotel guests, free coffee, and water throughout the day, which is another great perk. Also, the location was wonderful. We were about 20-30 minutes walking to many Paris notable places. The street the hotel sits on also has a good choice of restaurants and shops. Overall, I’m very content with this hotel.
Meredith Huffman★★☆☆☆
I checked out today and went back and reviewed what I originally booked. A superior double. I am giving this two stars because our room did not match the photos online. The online pictures had far bigger windows and a larger desk and a larger bathroom. There are a few things that come with an older hotel that is just how it is, not affecting my review: you can hear all intimate details from your neighbors, the shower, and room was small, things a little older. The shower temperature was unable to hold a steady temp and would jump between cold and hot. But for $350 a night there are a few things that could improve the experience for guests. The mattress was cheap and sagged. The pillows were well past their prime, flat and uncomfortable. The shower head was so small it would only get part of you wet, high efficiency larger shower heads is a simple swap. The towels were cheap and scratchy. In the shower itself it was a 3x3 stall with a cheap curtain, it only had a body wash/shampoo combination in a single bottle, no conditioner, no body lotion. I did not raise my concerns with the front desk because these issues are for the managers to solve, not the desk. I liked the location, but would not stay here again.
Savitri Wilder★★★★★
My little Yorkie and myself had a wonderful stay at this hotel. I was travelling solo and the room was more than enough for us. I was on the first floor with view to another building, which was fine because it meant quietness. The room and bathroom was very clean, there is a small refrigerator and also a tea/coffee making station. The hotel is very close to a metro station and different cafes and restaurants. The street stays busy until late and as a solo female traveller, this is a plus. But in general, it’s a nice safe area where you can use public transport or walk to many sites. I would stay here again if in Paris.

This hotel is in a great location for visiting Paris, especially for first time visitors who want to hit the major attractions. You can easily walk to the Louvre and the Musee de Orsay. Other attractions are an easy Metro ride away. The rooms are small which should be expected for this price range and location. Unfortunately, they aren't set up well for two people There is no place to set out more than one suitcase, and no place for two people to hang their towels. It is fine if you only use the room to sleep, but crowded if you want to spend time awake in the room. It is quiet unless someone is in the hallway talking. And the bed was comfortable. The room was fairly well cleaned when we arrived. They also cleaned the room and changed the towels daily, which was nice.

Although it’s officially a 3-star hotel, it’s always clean and comfortable, and I truly enjoyed my stay. Breakfast time is relaxed — the staff don’t rush or pressure you, and they quickly recognize returning guests, which creates a warm, familiar feeling. The bed is very comfortable, and the location is perfect — easy to reach anywhere in Paris. The room isn’t large, but it’s perfectly functional, and considering the market price, the overall value is excellent. Housekeeping is always finished neatly by early afternoon, so even when I came back in the middle of shopping, the room felt fresh and welcoming. A hotel with great cost performance — I would definitely stay here again.

We had such a wonderful experience here, the room and the hallway are a little small but well equipped, modern, and clean, the cleaning staff and front desk staff are simply wonderful people who are helpful, welcoming. The location simply can’t be beat, dozens perhaps hundreds restaurants within walking distance, some very large shopping centers within a few blocks, and you can walk to the Louvre and the Notre-Dame, or just stroll alone the beautiful Seine. Wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

We saw some mixed reviews but decided to try the hotel based on location. We were incredibly satisfied. Very friendly personnel. AC worked great during a heat wave. The street is incredibly calm. There is real wood flooring in the rooms vs plastic in most hotels. Rooms were comfortable and in good condition. Will definitely stay here again. Merci!!

Some annoyances with this hotel but overall it was good. Let me explain: It’s apparent it’s mold in the bathroom, windows etc. but nothing THAT noticeable. Location is really amazing - safe area, close to mall (Westfield), housekeeping every day which was nice. The breakfast area is SUPER small, would recommend not eating your breakfast here. Save ur money. If you want a view maybe ask for it (we got a nice one look at the picture), we got 4 room in total and only one of them got a nice view (everyone else just stated into a wall). AC is also perfect during the heat. I would recommend to stay but it’s not super luxurious but location is key.

★★★★★ Had a very pleasant stay at Hôtel Andréa in the Le Marais district. The location is excellent, with easy access to major attractions, cafés, shops, and public transport, making it a perfect base for exploring Paris. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with a cozy atmosphere that made the stay enjoyable. The staff were courteous, welcoming, and helpful throughout, and the overall service was smooth and professional. I especially appreciated the charm of the neighborhood, the convenience of the location, and the comfortable stay experience. Overall, a very satisfying visit and a great choice for anyone looking to stay in the Marais area. Highly recommended.

Great location and price! The hotel is tucked away in a quieter street but really close to all the shops and landmarks. 15 minute walk from Louvre / Notre Dame but it doesn’t feel very touristy in this area. The only downside was that the bathroom was kind of moldy. We didn’t have a chance to tell the staff during our stay though but I’m sure they would have been happy to change our rooms / deal with it.

The room were super dirty (stained sheets, dusty floors, mold in the showers, etc) and there was no air conditioning. Front desk controls heat/cooling for each room and we stayed for 4 nights and each night there was a different reason for not turning on the A/C: some days it was broken, some days they would “turn it on in a second” (they did not), so on and so forth until one day someone was honest with us and said that bc of the air system they had installed they could only either heat or cool the entire building. This is understandable but the lack of honesty when communicating the issue was a poor choice. I see from the reviews I’m not the only one with these complaints, maybe a simple solution would be providing a fan in each room for some circulation. Our room was facing the elevator shaft so even opening the window didn’t allow for any air flow, and our trip was definitely dampened by our 4 nights of poor sleep. With summer approaching I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Amazing location. Nice rooms. AC worked well once we figured out how to turn it on. Only problem was our door kept unlocking randomly - luckily nothing was taken but we came back twice to our room door ajar.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Our room was spacious with plenty of room to relax. It was very quiet. We were right next to the lobby with only one flight of stairs to manage. No elevator. They don't have a place for breakfast, but you can purchase a bag breakfast with pastry and yogurt that is delivered to your room. Very cute. It was located in a great neighborhood with lots of shops and restaurants. It is close to many tourist sights. We could easily get a taxi on the corner. I would definitely book this hotel again.

There is no elevator in this hotel. At check-in, the staff told me they would help carry my luggage, so I agreed to stay. However, in the morning when I asked for help, a different staff member refused and told me to carry it myself, in a very rude manner. If assistance with luggage cannot be consistently provided, this should be clearly explained in advance. The inconsistent information and unfriendly attitude were disappointing, especially at the end of my stay.

This place was absolutely amazing! The staff here are really nice and inviting. The location was excellent, within walking distance of a lot of major attractions.

Great and safe location andbut the room and bathroom were quite small — likely the maximum possible size given the building's structure. There’s no elevator, which could be challenging for guests with heavy luggage. That said, the receptionist kindly offered to help with mine, which I appreciated, even though I chose to carry it myself. The staff are friendly and helpful. Upon request, they provided an iron and ironing board, which was convenient.

We paid €420 for two nights at Hôtel de Nesle and would not return. At this price, we got (we didn't realise at the time of booking!) a room with NO private toilet; guests had to use a communal toilet in the corridor. The shower and sink were openly inside the bedroom, without proper bathroom privacy. This was especially inappropriate for a twin room booked for two adults. We complained immediately after seeing the room and requested a refund, but this was refused. We were offered a different room for the second night only after we had already paid and had limited practical options in Paris. That room had the only added benefit of ensuite bathroom. Both rooms had serious issues. We documented dirt, dust, stained bedding, deteriorated/dirty sealant, damaged finishes, poor maintenance, ants, excessive street noise and a hairdryer with a taped electrical cable and visible internal elements. A historic building can have character, but it does not excuse poor hygiene, ants, defective equipment, lack of bathroom privacy or unclear disclosure of communal toilet facilities. The impression the hotel makes on ther website and advertising is massively different what it actually is. The hotel offered only a €60 voucher for a future stay, which is meaningless because we would not stay there again. We are pursuing a refund through authorities.

Amazing stay here - staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Super well located, right next to the Batobus stop. Quirky and charming rooms.

What a funky GEM! I adored this unique boutique hotel. Nothing fancy but TONS of character. Each room has its own theme and is lovely. The inner garden is perfect for a home made Happy Hour. The manager is so very helpful (let me check in very early and carried my heavy bag to my room). He also had a great sense of humor. Centrally located to everything and the cafe on the corner was a perfect place for a night cap.

The location of the hotel was excellent; we were able to walk everywhere. It’s very close to the Louvre Museum and many other attractions. Everyone at the reception was very sweet. The owner was very attentive and helped us a lot. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean, and our room was cleaned every day. We chose a room with a shared toilet, but the toilet was quite small. Other than that, everything was great. Thank you for everything! I will definitely recommend this place.

Charming small boheme style hotel with great location on a calm side street just off Pont Neuf and rue Dauphine. I used to stay here in the 1980s, when it was still run by Mme Nesle herself. Today it's owned by her grandchild. Now it's renovated to much better standard, but still with the odd charm and oriental decorations in place (and no television in the room). My room even had a small private terrace. Simple but nice and clean, with very friendly staff. There is no breakfast, but plenty of food options nearby. It was a very nice experience to return almost 40 years later and spend a Saturday night here again.

Tips for Booking a Budget Hotel near the Louvre

Finding the right hotel is about more than just the nightly rate; it is about maximizing the total value of your stay. The logistics of booking in a historic city like Paris require a bit of strategy. By understanding the local market and knowing when to book, you can unlock significantly better prices and avoid the common pitfalls that lead to uncomfortable stays or hidden fees. Keep the following professional recommendations in mind when securing your reservation.

Book for Sunday or Holiday Stays: The area around the Louvre is primarily a business and administrative district. While tourism is constant, business travel drops significantly on weekends and during French public holidays. Many hotels lower their rates on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights to fill rooms vacated by corporate clients. If your itinerary is flexible, shifting your Paris dates to include a weekend can yield substantial savings.

Prioritize Interior Courtyard Rooms: Parisian streets, particularly those near Les Halles and Rue de Rivoli, can be noisy late into the night due to delivery trucks and nightlife. When booking a budget hotel, the cheapest room is almost always the one facing the street. Paying a few euros extra for a room facing the interior courtyard is a worthwhile investment in your sleep quality. Always request a "chambre sur cour" in the booking notes.

Verify the Elevator and Air Conditioning Status: Many historic buildings in the 1st and 2nd arrondissements are protected by strict architectural codes, meaning elevators are small or sometimes nonexistent. If you are traveling with heavy luggage or have mobility constraints, filter your search specifically for "elevator" or "lift." Similarly, Paris is experiencing hotter summers, and older budget hotels may not have air conditioning; check recent reviews during summer months to ensure the rooms remain comfortable.

Look for "PDJ" (Petit Déjeuner) Inclusions: Dining out for breakfast in the tourist-heavy Louvre district can be surprisingly expensive. A simple café crème and croissant can cost upwards of 10 euros per person. Many budget hotels offer a "PDJ" (breakfast) package that, while basic, is often cheaper than eating at a local café. Even if the hotel doesn’t offer a deal, check if they provide free coffee or a kettle in the lobby to help you save on morning costs.

Use the Louvre’s Alternative Entrances: While this is not a hotel tip, it directly impacts the value of staying nearby. If you are staying close to the museum, you have the advantage of accessing the Carrousel du Louvre shopping center entrance or the Porte des Lions entrance, which often have shorter security lines than the main Pyramid entrance. Ask your hotel’s front desk for the current status of these entrances to save an hour of waiting.

Staying near the Louvre allows you to experience the magic of Paris after the day-trippers have gone home. In the evening, the courtyard of the museum becomes a quiet, romantic space, and the nearby Pont des Arts offers stunning views of the Seine without the midday crowds. By choosing a budget-conscious hotel in this district, you are paying for the experience of the location, not just a bed.

With careful planning and the right expectations, your visit to Paris can be both luxurious in experience and reasonable in cost. The city’s true wealth lies in its art, history, and atmosphere, and a smart hotel choice ensures you have more money left over to enjoy the culinary delights and cultural treasures that await you just outside your door.
