Finding a well-stocked supermarket in Saint-Tropez requires a shift in expectations. While the port is famous for its luxury boutiques and celebrity yacht-spotting, daily life for residents and self-catering visitors revolves around a handful of practical, high-quality grocery options. Whether you are stocking a villa kitchen or packing a beach picnic, knowing where to shop will save you both time and money.
The local grocery scene is a mix of traditional French hypermarkets, upscale convenience stores, and specialized organic shops. Prices vary significantly between the glamorous waterfront and the residential outskirts. If you are staying in the heart of the village, you will pay a premium for the convenience of walking to a small store, whereas a short drive opens up a world of better variety and lower prices.
Parking is the most critical factor when choosing where to shop during the summer season. The larger hypermarkets located on the outskirts of town offer free, spacious parking lots, making them the smart choice for a big weekly haul. Trying to navigate the narrow streets of the old town with a trunk full of groceries is a headache best avoided.
For those seeking the finest produce, regional wines, and fresh seafood, the local markets and specialized grocers offer an experience that goes beyond a simple transaction. However, for everyday essentials, international brands, and household items, the bigger chains provide a level of consistency and value that is hard to beat in this tourist-heavy destination.
Most supermarkets in the area operate with standard French hours, typically closing for lunch between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM, though the larger hypermarkets often stay open continuously. During July and August, expect crowds at checkout lines in the late afternoon, so it is wise to shop early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the rush.
Here is a curated list of the best options for stocking up on groceries, whether you need a fresh baguette, a case of Rosé, or organic snacks for the beach.

Exceptionally rude staff. Cheer up, you are paid to serve customers, do it with a smile 😄

As a tourist in St Tropez, I liked this supermarket much more than the Monoprix a few streets over, which had a rotten food smell inside. Utile has a good variety of teas, cookies, cheeses, yogurts and soft drinks. The wine section seems to have a good selection, but stay away from a sparkling wine from Alsace named Bestheim - had to pour it in the sink, but it's not the store's fault.
Go Berlin★★★★★
Best supermarket in Saint Tropez. Organized aisles and the have cashiers. Hope they won’t introduce self checkout like the other job destroyer supermarkets.
Arjan Van spronse★☆☆☆☆
After 1 hour parking you must pay 15 euro which was not mentioned somewhere, probably only online.
I was in the supermarket for 65 min and had to pay 15 euro extra, moneyscammers.
Google lidl or aldi for normal prices and respectful behaviour to paying customers.

Expensive and dirty. They display wrong prices and price tickets are missing. Check how much you are paying!

Great selection of fresh food and pastries, everything you need in one place, utensils, toiletries, screenwash. If you want to know how much it's going to cost then use the hand Scanners, as the prices on the shelf aren't always easy to work out what's what. You need to register for their customer card. You can get the customer card via app or customer services. Hand Scanners all the way to the right

Ordinary big and well stocked supermarket. Nice sushi and warm food counters. Best place for cheaper shopping in Saint Tropez. Shame its only open till 9.
KASIA PRZEMO★★★★★
Very well stocked supermarket. You can get fresh fruits, veg, cheese, meat, fish, breads, alcohol.... basically everything and prices aren't too bad
Melissa Ridgway★☆☆☆☆
Check your receipts l was overcharged.
Ongoing problems with stock still 17 months after Auchan took over from Geant, it’s just not acceptable. Especially the steak pepper and herb and spice section. Always something missing every day last week it was Auchan olive oil too.
Pathetic and not acceptable for a supermarket of your size.
Slow service at the fish counter and l have had problems with freshness and quality of your seafood.

Chaotic place, unorganized, not to the standards of Saint Tropez.
Lacks many essential products, not practical.
How is it possible that they did not improve the place yet to make it look welcoming?

Nita SOULIVONG★★★★★
Passing through St. Tropez for lunch, we had focaccias heated like paninis; they were delicious, almost like in Italy. The sandwiches weren't overpriced.
The welcome was warm.
The shop is lovely, with Italian products, including cured meats sold by the slice; the dishes are prepared in the back.
A great find!

A very bad experience.
I ordered food from Uber Eats, and it was delivered very cold, poorly presented, and tasteless. It's awful to throw away €40 when I thought I'd enjoy a delicious meal. Furthermore, it wasn't mentioned anywhere that the food would be delivered cold. On top of that, there were no cutlery or napkins. It's simply awful. I do not recommend it.

Disappointing to see Casino Shop charging €2 for a small bottle of water — pricing you’d expect in a souvenir shop, not a supermarket chain. Much better to buy a 1.5L bottle instead for a fraction of the price from the same place.

A well-stocked local grocery that covers the essentials without the pretension. Good selection of local products, decent fresh produce and a practical layout. We use it regularly for everyday needs when we want to avoid the bigger supermarkets further out. The staff are friendly and know their stock well. It is the kind of shop that holds a neighbourhood together and Saint-Tropez is better for having it.

We have been coming to this market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings for years and it remains one of the rituals we look forward to most when we arrive at our place near Saint-Tropez. Local producers, seasonal vegetables, good cheese, excellent olives. There is also a flower section that is worth a look if you are furnishing a house for the week. It gets busy by ten in the morning so arriving early makes a real difference. The café terraces around the square are a good way to finish the morning.

We lucked upon this gem of a restaurant in St. Tropez. It’s a bit off the beaten path which is a good thing, or we probably wouldn’t have gotten a table. This was some of the best food I have had anywhere in the world. The vitello tonatto was absolutely divine and those hand rolled cheese filled ravioli with fresh tomato were sublime. Every dish was five stars including the wine selections. I would eat here everyday if I could. If you are visiting St. Tropez this is as good as it gets and very reasonably priced as well! Thank you for a wonderful evening and please open a restaurant in Palm beach!
Neal Bakshi★★★★★
This restaurant is a hidden gem on a side street in St. Tropez. The staff are absolutely magical souls from Italy who are incredibly kind & thoughtful, and care about making your dining experience great from start to finish.
The menu is simple, and focused on pasta, but they know how to do it right and for a great price. You choose the kind of pasta and sauce you want and they will make it to perfection. We got the fettuccine bolognese and the truffle truffle ravioli and both were exceptional. We also loved the burrata appetizer.
Skip the tourist traps by the water - this is where you want to come when you’re in town.
Cédric★☆☆☆☆
Arrived at 12:00 with 4 kids, booked the evening before, got served at 13:15 some disgusting pastas. We were the first customers to arrive and got served last.
This is one of the worst experience ever. The restaurant is clearly not worth it.
They installed us in a smelly outdoor with sewage right under our feet. We asked to be moved and they started to argue, before eventually moving us to another spot.
Unfortunately it took them 45 mins to take our order. People who came after us got served and left before we even started eating.
The owner doesn't even apologise or try to give us a discount. He smoke before coming back to his kitchen. No sanitary protection (hair not covered).
No air-conditioning inside.
In terms of food, that's disgusting. The carbonara was dry. The "Tomato and garlic" sauce is not a sauce. Nobody finished their plate due to the disgusting taste.
Over 200 euros for this? There are so many other places in St Tropez that are better, cheaper, and more considerate to their customers. Especially the ones with young kids.
Mariusz Jernalczyk★★★★★
The food was really delicious. We ordered truffle pasta, ravioli, and lasagne, and everything was excellent. We were also able to order half a portion of bolognese for our child at half price, which was a very nice touch.
All the dishes were served together, and the staff even asked if we wanted the child’s meal to be brought earlier. Before the meal, we also received delicious little rolls with pesto.
The restaurant may be a bit off the beaten path, but places like this are often the best ones. Highly recommended!
Denise R.P★★★★★
A wonderful surprise on a quiet street, yet in a very convenient location. We had an incredibly enjoyable and delicious dining experience—it truly felt like a little trip to Italy in the heart of Saint-Tropez.
We loved it so much that, during our short stay, we ended up having almost all of our meals here.
The entire team was warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We tried the Bolognese gnocchi, the cheese raviole with tomato and basil sauce, the linguine with pesto, and the lemon ravioli with butter and Parmesan sauce. Every dish was delicious, but the lemon ravioli was absolutely outstanding—without a doubt our favorite.
The homemade tiramisu was the perfect way to end the meal, the selection of Italian wines was excellent, and we especially appreciated the limoncello the team kindly offered us after dinner—a lovely touch.
We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return the next time we’re in Saint-Tropez.
Thank you to the chef and the entire team for such a memorable experience!

Great for walking to. Only paid parking is available but it has a gas station. Other than that, it is wonderful. Doesn't have kitchen appliances or TV's like the Hyper Carrefour ~3 kilometers north of it. Loved the selection though. For my USA peeps, shopping carts require a coin to borrow like you'd find at Aldi in the USA. The carts will take either a 0.50, 1.00, or 2.00 euro coin. Just insert coin and the chain releases. When done, insert chain to release your coin. Easy peezy

Tips for Grocery Shopping in Saint-Tropez
Understanding the local shopping culture will help you navigate the aisles like a local rather than a tourist. From baguette etiquette to peak traffic hours, a little preparation goes a long way in ensuring your provisioning is efficient and stress-free. Here are a few essential tips to keep in mind before you head out.
Plan around the lunch closure. Smaller supermarkets and specialty food shops in the center of Saint-Tropez almost always close for a two-hour lunch break. If you need supplies between noon and 3:00 PM, head to the larger hypermarkets on the outskirts, which typically operate on a continuous schedule.
Bring your own bags and a euro coin. France has largely phased out free plastic bags, and you will need to purchase reusable ones if you forget. Additionally, if you plan to use a shopping cart at the larger stores, keep a €1 coin handy to unlock it from the chain.
Don’t skip the wine aisle. Even the standard supermarkets in the Var region carry an impressive selection of local Côtes de Provence rosé. You can find excellent bottles for under €10 that would cost triple that price at a beach club or restaurant on the Pampelonne strip.
Buy water in bulk. The Provençal sun is intense, and staying hydrated is non-negotiable. Buying large multi-packs of water at a hypermarket is significantly cheaper than purchasing single bottles at the port-side convenience stores, which often charge a premium for chilled drinks.
Check the cheese and deli counters. The larger supermarkets often have a "traiteur" section with freshly prepared salads, roasted chickens, and regional specialties. This is a fantastic budget-friendly alternative to dining out for lunch, allowing you to enjoy high-quality French food on your terrace or boat.
Whether you are preparing a simple breakfast in a rental apartment or hosting a dinner party in a hillside villa, these supermarkets cover every base. By combining a trip to a large hypermarket for staples with a visit to a specialized local shop for treats, you can eat exceptionally well during your stay on the French Riviera without breaking the bank. Shopping here is less about the glamour and more about the simple pleasure of finding great ingredients to enjoy under the Mediterranean sun.
