Honfleur’s cobbled lanes, timber-framed facades, and luminous estuary light have long made it a magnet for artists and travelers. Yet beyond the galleries and the Vieux Bassin, daily life here revolves around something far more practical: the local food shop. Whether you are stocking a self-catering apartment or packing a picnic for the beach at Deauville, knowing where residents buy their groceries transforms a short stay into a more authentic experience.
The supermarket scene in Honfleur is surprisingly diverse for a town of its size. You will find compact city-center convenience stores, sprawling hypermarkets on the outskirts, and specialized organic cooperatives. Each format serves a different need, from a quick baguette run to a full weekly shop for a family holiday.
Price, parking, and product range vary significantly from one store to the next. A hypermarket may offer the lowest prices on wine and cheese, but a smaller central store saves you a drive and keeps you closer to the historic center. Understanding these trade-offs helps you match the right shop to your itinerary.
Many visitors assume that charming market streets will cover all their needs, but opening hours can be limited, especially on Sundays and public holidays. Supermarkets fill the gaps with reliable hours, consistent stock, and often excellent regional product selections. This guide focuses on the most practical and well-regarded options available today.
The following recommendations are based on local shopping patterns, accessibility, and the quality of fresh departments. They are ordered not as a strict ranking, but as a balanced overview of what each store does best for different types of shoppers.
Here is the complete list of the best supermarkets currently serving Honfleur and its immediate surroundings.

Really nice and spacious supermarket. Plenty of selection and air-conditioned! With an electrical goods store, a few other ancillary shops and public toilets in the same building. Car parking also has shaded spots and wasn't too busy both times we visited.

A huge shop. Is far bigger inside than it looks from the front. Lovely and cool on a baking hot day. Got everything we needed. Pleasant staff. Would recommend.

Emma★★★★★
Very big store with a large selection and quite friendly staff
Sean Marshall★☆☆☆☆
We popped in to buy a few bottles of water,, on paying at the till the cashier demanded an elderly relative to open his backpack for her to search, which she proceeded to do while I was paying with a line of customers behind. Humiliating, embarrassing and upsetting. Literally shocking, she maintained a very happy demonic smile throughout clearly enjoying her rudeness

Bart Jongenotter★★☆☆☆
Messy store, small, cramped parking lot. Please drive 3 min further for a perfect Aldi.
Richard Bacon★★★★★
Just popped in for a few items. No issues parking. My bad French was understood which was appreciated. So thank you.
Thursday 71★★☆☆☆
Not a very well laid out store. It's a mess. You can't pass other customers in some aisles because there's only space for one cart. It took us a long time to gather the things we needed. The products are okay.
But my advice would be to go to the Carrefour in Tourgeville, they have way more products in a well structured store.
Karl★★★★★
Nice shop, well maintained, clean.
Borys Yermokhin★★★★☆
As normal Lidl what you used to see everywhere, but it's a bit dirty hall and really narrow passage what makes sometimes really challenging to pass another customer in the aisle. According to the prices - everything as expected: good deals, if you have Lidl plus, you'll have more

During my visit to Honfleur, I discovered this store and I'm very pleased with it. The opening hours are convenient and well-suited to customers' needs. The store is clean, well-maintained, and pleasant to browse. The staff is welcoming, professional, and always available to help. The prices are reasonable, and there's a good variety of products. I highly recommend it! ☺️

Christopher Thompson★★★★☆
Pretty good supermarket. There is some excellent food and a lot of other things. Petrol and parking.
Simon Jones★★★★★
Awesome French supermarket. Better than UK if more expensive. Great fish and meat counters, you can chose your own Crab. Shame fish counters haven't caught on in UK but I think that says more about the people than anything else. Nice wide aisles and very clean. Huge car park.
Hans Schadd★★★★☆
Its the only supermarket in the are. Well stocked. Outstanding vegetables department. Plus you can do your laundry outside or fill up your tank.

Lesley★★★★★
Absolutely brilliant supermarket. Has everything you need and more! My favourite supermarket chain in France.
Je Je★★★☆☆
Very little if any local products. Very little choice at the cheese monger, barely one local type of fish at the fishmonger. That seemed wrong. Otherwise clean and the usual Leclerc shop.
Howard Rosal★★★★★
You can buy almost everything here, the place is clean.
JB★★★★★
Excellent service at the Leclerc Drive! The team is always smiling, welcoming, and very efficient. Orders are prepared quickly and handed over without waiting. I particularly appreciate that the employees take the time to show you the selected fruits and vegetables before loading them, which demonstrates a genuine concern for quality and customer satisfaction. Reliable and pleasant service!
GREG P★☆☆☆☆
TERRIBLE DRIVE-THRU AND ABJECT STAFF
We placed an order on May 26, 2026, at 12:35 PM for 6:15 PM.
We arrived to pick up our order, but the kiosk indicated that it was unavailable and that we should go to the reception desk, which we did.
The employee asked me, "Why is that?" I explained that we were there to pick up our 6:15 PM order since the kiosk wasn't working. He replied that he would check with his colleague.
We waited. A woman next to us had also been waiting for her order for 30 minutes, but nothing was arriving. Customers were piling up, forming a line that stretched all the way to the roundabout.
Time passed...
The employee finally came out to deliver groceries to people who had arrived after us! After several deliveries, I asked him about our order. He replied, "It's coming."
He then started delivering to other people as they arrived. I pointed out to him that this was getting ridiculous and that we had been waiting for an hour. He replied again, "It's coming."
The woman next to us finally received her order after an hour's wait. Some people had even left, exasperated.
We waited until 7:30 p.m., only to see this appalling employee deliver to more and more customers, but not to us.
We ended up canceling the order and requesting a refund. Since the money had already been debited and we hadn't received a refund, my wife went to the store today to ask for an explanation and speak to the Drive manager.
The manager was condescending to my wife, telling her that it was perfectly normal and that we had absolutely no reason to get upset.
I sincerely believe that this employee and the Drive manager should leave their positions and make way for much more competent people.
We've been shopping at Leclerc Honfleur for over 20 years. From now on, we'll be going to Intermarché!
To top it all off, no apology was offered, neither to us nor to the other customers.
I thought the Drive service was supposed to save time… In total, we waited an hour and fifteen minutes, only to ask for a refund and do our shopping inside.

One of the best supermarkets in the area.
Stefano Beaton★★☆☆☆
The managers have a strange way of dealing with customers. If you argue with a customer and then realise that the customer is right it would be at least a normal courtesy to say sorry...
Jenna K★★★★★
Really kind, friendly couple runs this store and they have a good selection of things. I’d recommend stopping by for a quick grocery shop coming into honfleur. Really friendly!!

Nathalie Lenoir★★★★★
Always a very warm welcome, smiles, and excellent service with packages. It's worth noting that this is the only Vinted Go drop-off point in the area, so we should support them.
They're dedicated and open until 10 pm.
Thank you.

Our first visit to Honfleur from Australia. We also stumbled across this place while walking in the streets. Absolutely magnificent. You won’t be sorry with your visit, especially if you are trying to escape the crowded places. Awesome friendly service.
Helen McDonald★★★★★
We took a wrong turn and ended up on this road instead of the next one so popped into this bar/shop. We had a couple of glasses of wine, a couple of games of noughts & crosses followed by a delicious charcuterie board. Such a charming place not to be missed.
Nic Watkins★★★★★
Wonderful little find, stopped of to buy calvados, ended up having a glass of wine after being given free tastings of beautiful chocolates. Little gem of a place in peaceful side road just up from vieux bassin
Adele Owen★★★★★
A beautiful, elegant and charming bar and delicatessen store in a quiet backstreet in the centre. We had delicious wines, calvados and a stunning charcuterie and cheese platter. The host is totally committed to the very best Normandy products, and very knowledgeable about the producers. A perfect start to an evening in Honfleur.
Practical Tips for Shopping at Supermarkets in Honfleur
A little local knowledge goes a long way when navigating French supermarkets, especially in a busy tourist town like Honfleur. These practical tips will help you save money, avoid crowds, and shop more like a local, whether you are grabbing essentials or preparing a full meal.
Shop before 11:00 AM or after 6:30 PM to avoid the busiest periods, particularly at larger hypermarkets on Saturdays. Midday and early evening rushes are common as residents stop on their way home from work.
Bring your own bags and be ready to pack quickly. French checkout staff move fast, and there is often a separate packing counter after the till. Sturdy reusable bags make the process much less stressful.
Look for “Produit Régional” or “Origine Normandie” labels on dairy, cider, and meat. These indicate genuine local sourcing and are usually found in dedicated regional aisles or near the fresh counters.
Check the fuel station promotions if you are driving. Several large hypermarkets near Honfleur offer discounted fuel with a minimum grocery spend, which can add up quickly on a road trip through Normandy.
Remember that many stores close for lunch on Sunday and some holidays. While tourist-area convenience stores may stay open, larger supermarkets often have reduced hours. Plan any big shop before Sunday afternoon.
Use the self-checkout for small baskets. If you only have a few items, self-service tills are usually much faster than waiting in a full trolley queue, especially during tourist season.
Compare cheese prices between the deli counter and the pre-packaged aisle. The same Norman Camembert or Pont-l’Évêque can sometimes be cheaper pre-wrapped, while the counter offers better ripeness and advice.
Honfleur’s supermarkets may not be the most glamorous part of your trip, but they are often where the best-value local products hide in plain sight. A well-chosen shop can supply you with everything from fresh seafood to aged Calvados at prices far below those in the tourist restaurants around the Vieux Bassin.
Take a little time to explore one or two of the stores above, and you will quickly see why locals remain loyal to their favorites. The right supermarket stop turns a good holiday meal into a memorable one, without stretching your travel budget.
