12 Best Seafood Restaurants in Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar offers more than just medieval walls and a postcard-perfect bay. It is also one of the most rewarding coastal towns on the Costa Brava for fresh seafood. From traditional fishermen’s taverns to modern Mediterranean kitchens, the dining scene reflects a deep connection to the sea.

Many visitors come for the castle and stay for the catch of the day. The local fleet still lands fish, prawns, and squid at the nearby harbour, which means the best tables often serve seafood that was swimming hours earlier. Understanding where locals eat is the key to avoiding tourist traps.

This guide focuses on quality, consistency, and atmosphere rather than simply price. Whether you want a long, lazy paella lunch overlooking the beach or a quiet plate of grilled razor clams in the old town, there is a table for you. The restaurants below have been selected for their sourcing, preparation, and ability to deliver a memorable meal.

Seafood in Tossa de Mar is not limited to one style. You will find rustic Catalan cooking alongside creative tasting menus that use modern technique. The common thread is a respect for the Mediterranean’s natural pantry: olive oil, garlic, parsley, and perfectly timed heat.

Because Tossa de Mar is compact, almost everything is within walking distance of the main beach or the Vila Vella. That makes it easy to compare menus and choose based on the day’s specials rather than taxi distance. A short walk often separates a standard tourist plate from a genuinely local dining room.

The high season between June and September brings intense demand, so booking ahead is wise for dinner. Many kitchens close between lunch and dinner service, and the best tables on a terrace disappear quickly. A little planning ensures you do not end up with a microwaved paella at an overflow table.

Below is a curated list of the best seafood restaurants in Tossa de Mar, chosen for their honest cooking and sense of place. Each entry offers something distinct, from wood-fired rice to simply grilled fish with a view of the Mediterranean.

A good restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. The staff were polite; I was a bit confused by the meat's doneness—I asked for medium, but it arrived almost raw—yet, surprisingly, it was very tasty. Smoking isn't allowed at the restaurant, not even outside; while that’s great in one sense, allowing it might have encouraged me to stay longer and order more. In my opinion, having a smoking area would have increased their revenue. Still, it gets 5 stars—everything was excellent.

If you want to have an authentic Spanish/Catalan meal , with loads of seafood, that’s the place , seafood is delicious, fresh and well cooked , service quiet fast , and portions are big , the restaurant has an easy vibe , nothing super fancy but welcoming and clean, when in Tossa definitely a spot to have a meal . 5-10 min walk from the center , in high seasons , better to book .
Cheryl Farrow★★★★★
An amazing few dinners and one lunch here. Does not disappoint. Beautiful flavours and decent sized portions alongside friendly staff. Best seafood we had whilst in Tossa de mar (our fourth visit). Well worth the short walk to this hidden gem.
Ahmed Oz.★★★★★
Great food, and great vibe. The venue is diverse and you won't be lost there. I highly recommend it.
Murat Acinci★★★★★
We visited this restaurant upon the recommendation of a friend. It was the most delicious seafood we have eaten in a long time. Everything was fresh and delicious. The menu is understandable, both in English and with pictures. service and attention were extremely good. The price performance balance is great.

Best seafood in Tossa for sure! And I’ve tried a few. Awesome service too. Very popular with locals.
Ellie T★★★★★
Everything I ordered was so fresh and yummy! The best I had so far in Spain. I had bay scallops, cockles and grilled fish steaks (forgot the fish name). They are so delicious. The best tasty olives too. I plan to come back for more shellfish tomorrow. I love seafoods! This is a restaurant in a nice neighborhood. Locals are dining here. Give it a try and you won’t be regret.

We read about this place and went there, we were definitely not disappointed! If you want to eat delicious sea food while in Tossa de mar, this is the place to go to. Very friendly staff and mostly locals.

We recently visited this place while on holiday and had an excellent meal. The sangria was good, service was spot on, and the quality of food was excellent. We were so impressed that we visited a second time.

Recommended to us by locals as the best place for fish. And it was. Some of the best fish we have ever had. We had hake and cod. Amazing service as well. Support friendly and attentive. Great wine. Very reasonably priced. The portions and presentation is great as well.

There were four adults and three children in our group. One person ordered the set menu, while everyone else ordered à la carte. We didn’t make a reservation, but luckily we arrived early and they were able to seat us at a large table. The large seafood platter was very generous and had a great variety. The paella was tasty and not overly salty. The steak was also really good, and the 300g portion was reasonably priced. Many of the staff spoke English, which made everything very easy, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout.
Leandro Cuberos★★★★★
My wife and I chose this place for our first lunch in Tossa, and we were delighted. We both had the menu of the day and it was surprisingly good, far above of we often get at this price point. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. Highly recommended.
Alex & Family★★★★★
Called in today for lunch, hadn’t booked but the team accommodated us without issue. They had no internet/wifi which meant the waiters & waitresses were doing everything manually which was impressive; Mike our waiter was great. Mussels were amazing, we’ll be back.
Dayana Sanchez★★★★★
Amazing place! Great location, service was excellent, food incredible and ambience very nice and comfy! I highly recommend this place! The servers Luis and Michelle were the best! Thank you !!!

Friendly service and good atmosphere sitting at the terraza (although it a busy street with lots of cars). Food is very average. The only dish we liked was the calamares a la andaluza. Boletus coquettes were cold inside and overpriced for the quality/amount. We also ordered patatas bravas and buñuelos de bacalao, both very average and will not order them again.
Elizaveta Kharchenko★★★★★
This restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip to Tossa. We came back twice during our one-week stay because we enjoyed it so much. The setting is simple and unpretentious, with a warm family atmosphere. Both times we chose the set menu and every dish was outstanding. The paella was hands down the best I’ve had anywhere in Spain. If you’re visiting Tossa and looking for authentic food, don’t miss this spot for lunch.
Yulia★★★★★
If you'd like to try authentic local food, this is the place to go. The seafood is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!
Jordi Corbilla★★★★★
Absolutely brilliant, go for the regional food, you won't go wrong. They have a basic menu that's really good.
Steven★★★★★
Incredible lunchtime feast. Two of us shared the fish platter - it was both delicious and massive! A great selection of mussels, 3 types of prawns, clams and razor clams arrived. More than enough for us to get through. But then a few minutes later we were presented with some smaller razor clams. Then about 15 minutes later the tastiest lobster we’ve ever eaten arrived. The wine selection was great too. As well as the service.

Lovely menu del dia. We were taken care by Gaby, she was delightful. Also by a young man with readers (Antonio?). Loved the croquettes, fried calamari & arroz. Don’t miss the pistachio cheesecake. Will be back. Thanks

We had the set menu when we visited and were so impressed with the amount and quality of food for this. It was absolutely delicious and amazing that you got an entire bottle of cava as your drinks choice within the €36 euros.

I don’t leave poor reviews but we had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant in Tossa de Mar 😢 My friend and I came for dinner and each ordered a drink. We told our waiter that we weren’t very hungry and only wanted to share one paella. The waiter told us that each person had to order a dish, so we ordered a salad as well. When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see we had been charged for two paellas. We explained that we had specifically told the waiter we only wanted one because we weren’t hungry. The waitress told us that we had ordered the paella for two people (the larger size), but this was never clearly explained to us. The paella itself was delicious, but the communication was very poor and left us feeling disappointed. If the menu or the waiter had made it clear that ordering the larger paella meant paying for two portions, we would have made a different decision. Better communication would have avoided the confusion and made for a much better dining experience.
Bohdana Frantsishkevych★★★★★
Honestly, I was very surprised when I went here to leave a review and saw 4,1. The food was really good(especially the seafood cocktail dish), localisation is great and waiters also nice. I do really recommend this place P.s in a photo u can see a black paella, it’s not burnt or something it’s just with a squid ink;)
Tanusik Sgdgssd★★★★★
Everything is absolutely delicious! The service is very quick. There’s a lovely atmosphere. It’s really cosy to eat at the outdoor tables, even during the day. The octopus is simply brilliant! The seafood pasta is a great choice for teenagers!
Gabriel Assunçao★★★★★
The food was absolutely delicious, and everyone who worked there was incredibly friendly and polite. The service made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend this place!

The place is very nice; located next to the castle walls, but the food was mediocre. We order pasta seafood and fish stew. Nothing wow. There were bland and overpriced.

I passed by the restaurant and asked if i can use their toilet, the girl afraid to say yes and waited for senior man with big belly. I respectfully asked him again and told that I can buy some drinks or pay - he answered that I can use public toilet down the street and they’re actually closed, but there were some people inside. Disgusting experience from such a behaviour to customers, because couple days ago me and my husband had coffee there in daytime, right the same time when they told me that they are closed. We always go for food or drinks afternoon to cafe or restaurant around beach like all the tourists do. Rude attitude to me as a woman shocked me and offended. P.S. I was respectful, clean, good looking, not in sand and dressed good in summer vibes - I had short top and shorts, fancy bag and cap. Totally not the way man describes the situation below and lies to clear himself and justify his rude behaviour with hatred he met me. By the way beach next to restaurant has no sand, rocks like a small beads that don’t stick to body. I’ve been in many countries and never felt so abused and frustrated.
Hannah Reiter★★★★★
Everything was just absolutely fantastic without exception. Best seafood I had in a very long time!
Hayley Zhu★★★★★
Fantastic service. And good food. Best of all amazing views.
Bridget Marr★★★★★
We've been to this part of the coast several times over the last few years and tried many restaurants. This is definitely our favourite place for fish and seafood. Their paella is the best we've had in Tossa, and would also recommend trying the Cim I tomba and Catalan monkfish. The staff are very welcoming and forgiving of our poor Spanish. Always a smile and hello from the owner as well when you walk past. Please support this family business and make sure it's still there for the future.
Tim Cheung★★★★☆
Tried out this restaurant as we kept walking by it on our stay in Tossa de Mar. Greeted and Seated promptly. Started with Grilled Squid 🐙! Amazing. Then we shared the Grilled Fish and seafood combo 🦞. Because it had lots of food. Topped off with dessert of profiteroles, Chocolate ice cream in a cup 🍨, and a Grand Marnier with coffee. Excellent meal for 2. You won't be disappointed coming here.

A lovely place for lunch or dinner by the sea. The restaurant offers excellent local and Mediterranean cuisine, with a selection of regional wines and beers to complement your meal. A great spot to enjoy good food while taking in the relaxing seaside atmosphere.

Limited options on the menu The tomato tuna belly salad was dry and the tomato’s were bland. Little atmosphere but not quiet on season so understandable. Good location on the sea. The fish of the day was was lush

One of the best seafood meals of the trip. We found it after almost every restaurant had a queue, and the waiter kindly told us a table would be ready in just a few minutes — he kept our place for us. The steamed mussels were huge in portion and incredibly fresh, with a clear sea taste. The scallops were also very fresh, and the shrimp from the Blanes area were sweet and flavorful. The black rice paella for two looked massive, but it was so good we finished every bite. The waiter also suggested adding garlic, which made it even better. It was pricey, but absolutely worth it.
nik nikrou★★★★★
If you’re welcomed by an old man who speaks the local language, you already know it’s going to be good. We checked the reviews beforehand and saw people saying they had the best rice of their lives here. Naturally, we thought: we have to try this out. No disappointment at all — this turned out to be one of the best black rice dishes I’ve ever had! When the food is this good, you honestly don’t mind paying for it. I can only recommend this place — totally worth it!
Tetiana R★★★★★
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this restaurant! We were warmly welcomed, offered a comfortable table, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The restaurant is small and cozy, with its own history and a private art gallery — the atmosphere is truly special, and every corner is inspiring. The food is exceptionally delicious, with fresh ingredients and original dishes that create a genuine culinary delight. I especially want to highlight how wonderfully they treat children — we felt completely comfortable with our little one. This restaurant perfectly combines warm service, high-quality cuisine, and an artistic ambiance, and we will gladly return again and again!

We had heard good things about Can Pini when looking for places to eat and infact stumbled across it by chance on our first night in Tossa De Mar - and it did not disappoint. The mains were delicious and cooked and perfection. Our waiter Joel recommended the desert and wow it was so good! A fabulous first meal. Thank you from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We came for dinner and drinks and had the paella and sangria - a classic combination that was executed nicely. We were served by Johnny, who was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout the evening. The food and drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was tranquil. Tucked away slightly off the beaten path, it felt like a lovely hidden gem away from the busier areas. Highly recommend for both drinks and food if you’re in the area!

This is a fabulous restraunt situated in the Old Town in Tossa de Mar. The service and food are excellent, the lovely waiter, Albert, recommended a tasty local favourite seafood dish, he was also spot on with his white wine suggestion. He kindly took the time to talk about the various dishes and wine with me, which I appreciated. The owner of this restraunt is a warm and friendly lady who was most welcoming. I would highly recommend this restraunt. Thank you, it was one of the highlights of my holiday. 😊

Amazing time eating at Marina Restaurant - the service was great - very friendly and the food tasted great. The paella and sangria tasted lovely- would definitely recommend !!! A little gem tucked out of the way !

The food is good. I recommend local dishes, tapas and octopus. A little worse with steak. Service is nice, but they sometimes forget about some parts of the order, such as the Catalan cream for the tapas set. Reasonable prices.

Excellent food!!! We stayed in Tossa De Mar for a long weekend and tried a few places but we were excited to come back to this restaurant a second time because the food and service are so good. The mussels marinera are definitely a highlight but we tried a number of different seafood and vegetarian dishes, all were delicious! Highly recommend. It is tucked away from the busy area of town so it has a lovely calm feeling and has a beautiful family owned / local vibe. We would definitely come back here a third time.

We've had here the nicest dinner in Tossa. Great location and street atmosphere. Ordered traditional cim i tomba which was delicious, octopus tentacle was yummy and so we're the sardines. All the 3 desserts were tasty, especially the pear in wine with chocolate. The restaurant is pricier but well-worth its money.

Great little restaurant just down the street from the ocean. If you are trying to decide which restaurant to dine at when visiting the beach at Tosse de Mar, this is a great option. I loved the tuna tartare! Of course we had to have the paella when in Spain.

Wow! Im lost for words. Probably the best spanish restaurant I've ever been to. Generous portions, tasty dishes, very happy and helpful servers and a lovely and lively athmosphere! This is also a family friendly restaurant. Highly recommended when in Tossa De Mar.

Very good food, great choices for meat and seafood, great quality for the money. I would highly recommend taking a menu: this would include a starter good starter, a main course, desert + a drink of your choice. The service was very friendly, also put up a heater just for us, when they heared that we were a bit cold. Very hard to beat, would come back anytime

Lovely place with a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The seafood was fresh and tasty, and the portions were generous. Every dish I had was 10/10 and the owner was very friendly and told me stories behind every wine. I had the best paella ever and the dessert was incredible!!! Every staff was friendly. I have travelled to many places and went to many different restaurants and this one stood out and went beyond! I would definitely recommend anyone who visits Tossa de Mar to go there.

This is such a lovely spot. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is great too. I had the cim i tomba and it was great too (slightly on the salty side for me but still good). ’d highly recommend.

We came across this restaurant by chance and had a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly kind and took the time to tell us about the wine and where it was produced. As we have several food allergies, we really appreciated how knowledgeable and attentive they were. We felt very well taken care of. So lovely people! Highly recommended!

Amazing quality food and lovely atmosphere under the castle walls. We were lucky to have been served by the owner and chef as we arrived when it was not yet busy earlier in the evening and he literally had the kitchen make bespoke dishes for me and the kids. A level of love and care for the food you only ever see in family owned places.
Alisa Mos★★★★★
The food was spectacular, very beautifully presented and very delicious! And the service as well was AMAZINGGG. Our server Lucy was a star and made the whole dining experience so fun and welcoming, and the rest of the staff who attended to us was also so so kind and attentive. Oh and the cheesecake is just DIVINEEEE!! Thank you for such a fun meal!

How to Choose the Best Seafood in Tossa de Mar
A little local knowledge helps you separate a great seafood meal from a forgettable one. Tossa de Mar has a wide range of options, but not every restaurant with a sea view serves fresh fish. The following tips will help you order with confidence and avoid common mistakes.

Follow the daily catch, not just the printed menu.
The best kitchens in Tossa de Mar work with what the boats bring in. Ask for the catch of the day or look for a blackboard special rather than ordering farmed fish that could be from anywhere. Fresh hake, sea bream, and scorpionfish are often better choices than imported salmon.

Look for restaurants away from the main promenade.
A sea view is lovely, but the most consistent seafood is often found one or two streets back from the beach. Restaurants in the old town or near the market tend to rely on repeat local customers, which keeps standards high and prices honest.

Order rice dishes for a minimum of two people.
Traditional paella and arròs caldós are cooked to order and usually require at least two diners. If you are travelling solo, ask for a fideuà or a seafood stew that can be served in a single portion. Avoid places that promise paella in under fifteen minutes.

Pay attention to seasonality.
Prawns and langoustines are at their best outside the hottest months. In spring and autumn, the seafood is often sweeter and the restaurants are less rushed. If you want razor clams or percebes, check availability before you sit down.

Ask how the fish is priced.
Fresh fish is often sold by weight, not by portion. Ask the price per hundred grams before ordering a whole fish, and confirm whether the weight includes the head and bones. This avoids an uncomfortable surprise when the bill arrives.

Embrace the midday menu.
Many of the best seafood restaurants in Tossa de Mar serve a set lunch menu that offers exceptional value. You can often enjoy a starter, a fish main course, dessert, and wine for less than the price of a single à la carte dish at dinner.

A meal in Tossa de Mar is an opportunity to taste the Mediterranean in its most direct form. The town’s fishing heritage is not a marketing story; it is a daily practice that shapes the menus, the markets, and the rhythm of the restaurants. Choosing well means supporting kitchens that keep that tradition alive.

Take your time, ask questions, and let the sea dictate the menu. Whether you are eating grilled sardines with your feet in the sand or enjoying a slow rice dish inside the old walls, the best seafood here is always a reflection of place.
