12 Best Pharmacies in Perpignan

Finding a dependable pharmacy in Perpignan is about more than just filling a prescription. Whether you are a resident navigating the French healthcare system or a visitor who has run out of essential medication, knowing where to go can save you time and stress. The city offers a robust network of pharmaceutical services, ranging from large modern dispensaries to specialized homeopathic and herbal medicine shops.

The French pharmacy experience is distinct, characterized by highly trained professionals who offer medical advice beyond simply handing over a box of pills. In Perpignan, many pharmacists act as the first point of contact for minor ailments, skin conditions, and general health queries. They can often provide immediate guidance without the need for a doctor’s appointment, which is invaluable for non-emergency situations.

Location is a key factor when selecting a pharmacy, especially if you are managing mobility issues or traveling with children. Perpignan is a walkable city, but having a trusted pharmacy near the historic center, the train station, or the commercial districts ensures you can access care quickly. Many establishments are equipped with private consultation booths to discuss sensitive health matters discreetly.

Language accessibility is another crucial consideration for expats and tourists. While Perpignan is deeply rooted in Catalan culture, many pharmacists in the city speak English or Spanish. This linguistic ability can be a lifesaver when you are trying to explain symptoms or understand complex dosage instructions in a foreign country.

Operating hours vary significantly across the city. While most follow standard French business hours with a lunchtime closure, the city strictly regulates "pharmacies de garde" (on-call pharmacies). These designated locations remain open during nights, Sundays, and public holidays to ensure that urgent medical needs are always met, regardless of the time of day.

To help you navigate the local landscape, we have compiled a list of the most reliable and highly regarded pharmacies in the area. These establishments are recognized for their customer service, product availability, and professional expertise.

Maybe they're good for the prices on non-refundable products, but as for the staff, forget it! Between a young girl who doesn't understand anything and knows nothing, and a North African guy who also knows nothing, but who, on top of that, either acts like he knows, or he knows and tries to rip off the customer by selling a different product than the one they came for... I think you shouldn't ask him if a mushroom is edible or not because if you look suspicious, he's the type to tell you it's edible when it isn't.
Luca Cerez★☆☆☆☆
I gave them a prescription for a specific dietary supplement. They gave me a different brand without informing me, then told me it was too late and they were out of it, instead of simply letting me know beforehand. This is really unacceptable, especially since they ended up forgetting two packs. It's theft, a waste of time, and a waste of food because I won't be able to take it. Thanks again to the bespectacled gentleman.

A fantastic pharmacy, and especially a super professional pharmacy technician! Thank you for the facial wash and cream after our makeup bag was stolen, and thank you for your very professional advice. If you can't find what you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask. Even other pharmacies send you to them…

The sales assistants at the pharmacy are excellent and always attentive! I especially appreciate their recommendations when I was looking for products suitable for my very atopic skin; the products they suggested were simply fantastic and perfectly suited to my needs. A professional, attentive team with excellent advice. I highly recommend this pharmacy!

I found it truly regrettable. The staff, particularly a woman in her sixties with a short blonde bob, used an inappropriate and discriminatory tone towards my friend while she was testing a product. This type of behavior is, I fear, racist and discriminatory, and I find it very disturbing. I will not be returning to this pharmacy.
Apoline Piòro Ferrari★☆☆☆☆
The saleswoman was extremely unpleasant. I was about to ask her for advice when I overheard her say, word for word, to an elderly woman who was looking for a specific perfume but couldn't find it: "Since you know more than I do, I'll let you look for it yourself." I wisely refrained from asking her to do her job with me. Knowing it's only Monday, she's going to have a long week...

Bad experience today with my little dog in my arms. The security guard let me in. I quickly grabbed my items and headed to the checkout. The store was empty, not a single customer. I put my dog down at my feet so I could get my bank card out and pay. The unfriendly security guard jumped on me as I was leaving, telling me there wouldn't be a next time. We agree on that point: you've lost me as a customer. Please note that the Leclerc pharmacy and all the major pharmacies in Perpignan with a veterinary section allow dogs. Between the empty shelves and the unfriendly staff, I, as a customer, will now spend my money elsewhere.

As a customer of the E.Leclerc Polygone Nord pharmacy for over a year, I am unfortunately increasingly disappointed by the welcome and service. I have a loyalty account with them and spend an average of around €80 every two months, sometimes more depending on the time of year. Despite this loyalty, I often find the sales assistants unpleasant and unwelcoming. The advice isn't always helpful, and the atmosphere rarely makes me want to return. In over a year, I have never been offered a single sample or any kind of discount, which is a shame for a regular customer. I think that an effort to improve the welcome, listening skills, and customer relations is really necessary. The only positive point is that the manager and the pharmacy team are friendly.

I was extremely disappointed this Saturday, July 11, 2026. I bought Picot AR brand baby formula and discovered it had expired on May 8, 2026. Just a few days earlier, I had bought a can, and my baby had already ingested some! The pharmacist asked me if I even knew how expiration dates work, as if she didn't have children! I would never give my baby expired formula! It's outrageous!

I'm a regular customer at my local pharmacy because of the excellent service; they're attentive, accommodating, and efficient in addressing our needs and questions. The large space and wide selection of products offer plenty of choice. The only downside is the poorly designed and very small parking spaces, which create a narrow passage.

A very bad experience. I simply called to inquire about a product and its availability, and I felt very little willingness to help. The tone was irritated, the person sighed, and then hung up on me before I had finished speaking. For a service supposedly dedicated to advising and reassuring customers, this is truly disappointing. I do not recommend it.

Following the owner's response. Hello, I acknowledge your response, but I am very surprised that you can state with such certainty what happened when you were not present, despite my explicit request to speak with the manager. It is regrettable to see that you seem more concerned with the origin of the published reviews than with the experience of a loyal customer of your pharmacy for many years. Contrary to what you indicate, your colleague, Manon, did not remain calm. I explained to her, respectfully, that I had just undergone major surgery. This did not prevent her from literally banging on the counter, in front of other customers, with an attitude that I found particularly aggressive and inappropriate. If, as you claim, her behavior was impeccable, can you then explain why your colleague Sophie stepped in to take over and handle my request calmly, professionally, and kindly? She was able, in just a few moments, to provide an appropriate response and a normal resolution to the situation. This clearly demonstrates that the problem did not stem from my request, but from the way it was initially handled. Regarding the dispensing of the medication, I would also like to set the record straight. You stated that you "made it easier" for us. This is not accurate. During our previous visit, we deliberately chose not to pick up our entire prescription, for fear of not needing the full course of treatment. One of your staff members then noted in our file that we could collect the remaining medication if needed. Your team was simply fulfilling a commitment that had been made and documented in our file. Finally, if several people wanted to share their experiences, it's because they were shocked by the way I was treated. This isn't about denigrating anyone, but about recounting a customer experience that, unfortunately, falls far short of what one has the right to expect from a healthcare professional. Customer reviews also serve as a barometer of the quality of service, the kindness, and the professionalism of your teams. They are certainly not intended to force customers to justify their feelings or to be viewed with suspicion when they express a negative experience. On the contrary, they should be considered an opportunity for self-reflection and improvement. I sincerely find it regrettable that, despite my request to speak to a manager, no one intervened to defuse the situation. It is equally regrettable that today you are defending your colleague without having witnessed the incident, rather than trying to understand what actually happened. After several years of loyalty to your pharmacy, I never expected to be treated this way. Please be assured that I will not hesitate to share this customer experience, as I believe it does not reflect the level of respect and attentiveness one has the right to expect from a healthcare establishment. Nevertheless, I wish you all the best.

Avoid them! They're thieves! I went in when they were on duty for an over-the-counter medication for morning sickness, and they charged us a €10 surcharge on top of the €3 for the medication. Is that even legal? No other pharmacy has ever done that to me. It's shameful and unethical, especially since they know we need the medication.
adrian topor★☆☆☆☆
Avoid at all costs! As a customer, I will never set foot in this pharmacy again, especially after my experience today. The manager closes the metal shutter at a height of 1.5 meters with customers inside, without considering that some customers might be taller than that. With the sun glare at closing time, I hit my forehead on the shutter until it bled, and the manager remained completely unfazed. You really have to be brainless to do that! Furthermore, every time I go to get a prescription, they always offer me generic medications, but not the ones prescribed, always with the explanation, "It's the same, sir." For example, instead of Augmentin, they offer me Amoxicillin. It's not the same at all! In short, I will never go there again, and I will tell everyone I know about my experience!

Thank you all, I walked through your doors with a pretty crazy level of stress, and ended up leaving with my brain buzzing and even a good, healthy laugh. Tips for Using Pharmacies in Perpignan

Navigating the healthcare system in a foreign country can be daunting, but understanding local pharmacy customs will make your experience much smoother. French pharmacies are highly regulated and offer a level of service that may differ from what you are used to back home. By following a few practical guidelines, you can ensure you receive the best possible care and value during your time in the city.

Understand the "Garde" System
Pharmacies in France do not operate 24/7 like in some other countries. If you need medication late at night or on a Sunday, you must locate the "pharmacie de garde." The local police station, the prefecture website, or the door of any closed pharmacy will display the address of the nearest on-duty pharmacy. Be prepared to ring a bell or use a night window for service.

Check for the Green Cross
A standard green cross usually indicates a standard pharmacy, but look for variations. A cross that flashes or is illuminated often signifies that the pharmacy is currently on duty. Additionally, if the green cross is accompanied by a "croix verte" sign with a specific logo, it indicates the pharmacy is part of a network that adheres to strict quality service standards.

Ask for Generic Medications
When you present a prescription, the pharmacist will often ask if you want generic substitutes. In France, generic drugs are strictly controlled and contain the exact same active ingredients as brand names but are significantly cheaper. Saying "oui" to generics can save you money, especially if you are paying out of pocket or have a high deductible.

Utilize the "Mon Pharmacien" App
Many pharmacies in Perpignan are integrating digital services. You can often order refills online or via an app before you arrive. This is particularly useful for chronic medications, as it minimizes waiting time and ensures the pharmacy has your specific medication in stock before you make the trip across town.

Leverage Pharmacist Consultations
You do not always need to see a doctor for minor issues like insect bites, mild allergies, or colds. Pharmacists in France are trained to diagnose common minor ailments. Walk into any reputable pharmacy in Perpignan, describe your symptoms in the private consultation area, and they can dispense appropriate medication or advise you if a doctor’s visit is necessary.

Perpignan benefits from a high density of qualified health professionals who are deeply committed to public health. Whether you need a specific brand of French skincare, pediatric medicine, or simply a quick consultation regarding a persistent cough, the city’s pharmacies offer a safety net that is both accessible and reliable.

Remember that while this guide highlights the best options, the ideal pharmacy for you will always depend on your specific location and timing. By utilizing the tips above and respecting the local regulations, you can ensure that your health needs are handled efficiently and professionally while you are in Perpignan.
