After wandering through the bustling streets of the Old Town, the gardens provide a refreshing, tranquil contrast, perfectly situated between the charm of the Old Town and the sparkling shores of the lake. The lush greenery and expansive lawns make it a fantastic spot for a leisurely stroll. We found it to be the perfect place for a relaxed lunch. We spent a wonderful afternoon enjoying a meal beneath the canopy of a huge, ancient tree, which provided lovely shade and a peaceful atmosphere. What makes the park even more enjoyable is how well-maintained it is: Cleanliness: You will find bins located throughout the park, making it easy to keep the area pristine. Convenience: There is plenty of access to public restrooms, which is a huge plus when you are out exploring for the day.

The park itself has nothing special, but the view of the lake surrounded by mountains is truly beautiful. One point worth mentioning is that there is a pier here from which boats depart for short cruises on the lake. Unfortunately, during the tourist season, it becomes incredibly crowded. Not only is it impossible to find a bench to sit on, but you can't even find a spot to lie down on the grass... so it might be a good idea to visit it outside the tourist season

This is a lovely park right between the old town and the lake. It is large with a range of options from shady treed areas to open spaces. There is a kids playground that is fenced off. You are right by the lake with plenty of water sport options available. A nice place to eat lunch, exercise or just relax.

We absolutely loved our trip to Annecy! I highly recommend taking a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and exploring this charming park. The views of Lake Annecy and the surrounding mountains are absolutely stunning, and the gardens themselves are beautifully maintained and wonderfully inviting. It’s the perfect spot to relax and soak in the natural beauty of this picturesque French town.

Wow factor: 10/10. Stepping out of Annecy's charming streets onto the breathtaking lakefront, framed by crystal-clear water and towering mountains, is an unforgettable moment. 🏞️ While you can take a quick swim here, this area is best enjoyed for its incredible scenery. Stroll along the promenade, relax, take photos, or rent a boat or watercraft to experience the lake from the water. If you're looking to spend the day swimming, head a few minutes around the lake to one of the many designated beach areas with easier water access

A stunning park that sits on the lake with stark mountains as the backdrop. Grab a few beers and sit on the grass enjoying the view is a cheap way to enjoy an expensive town.

It is a nice park if you want to go for a picnic, but too crowded and all the side of the lake is filled with businesses to rent water bycicles or boats to go on the lake, so it is not that peaceful.

By seeing the wide, large, and peaceful green lawn, your mind will be much better. Sitting by the lake, enjoy the swan teasing you some french fries.

Parc Charles Bosson is a beautiful park within walking distance of downtown Annecy. If you’re staying downtown, there’s a lovely walking path you can follow along the water that leads right to it. You can take in views of the lake, surrounding mountains, and Annecy’s historic architecture. The park has massive trees for shade and connects to the beach if you want to cool off in the lake. It’s such a peaceful spot to relax - you’ve got that fresh air, families playing around, and those stunning mountain views. Perfect place to unwind and soak up the Alpine atmosphere that makes Annecy special.

A really nice park with a friendly, chill vibe located right by Annecy Lake! We had a picnic here on a lovely summer afternoon, and it couldn’t be more perfect. A lot of people sit and relax in the park with friends and families, and as we noticed it was popular with families with kids and/or dogs. Not surprising as the park is very kid- and pet-friendly.

It was a place I stayed for a month, where I often went for walks and visited to enjoy the night view. Unlike the city center, it was really quiet and offered a different atmosphere. On sunny days, I would sit on the chairs here, enjoy the sunlight, and spend peaceful moments gazing at the sky. It was a place I am truly grateful for.

We enjoyed following the peaceful trail from Annecy up to the animal park. The hike is hilly but not too strenuous. The deer are beautiful and we were lucky to quietly walk and get close to them. There were also mountain goats. The hike included a beautiful look out points over the city. We spent about 1.5hrs walking there and back. There are rustic toilets at the top
Ivan Kryshtapovych★★★★★
A beautiful park with animals, the only one I could find in Annecy so far. It's very relaxing there, and 50 m away there is a great spot from which you can see a beautiful city landscape. It may be hard to get there on foot, car recommended. Although, not impossible and totally worth it. Great place, must visit. Bring vegetables with you, there is only bread to feed the animals there, and it's not very good for them.
Peter Vanham★★★★★
Only three types of animals - deer, bigger deer, and goats. But the space is nevertheless huge, as it is part of a giant forested mountain. There are plenty of options for kids to play creatively, such as hide and seek, look for sticks or chestnuts, build a camp, and for sporty people there are dozens of trails.
Alexey Subach★★★★★
Nice park with animals (mostly deer), the entrance was free. The park itself is pretty small so if you climb up just for it - don’t have too high expectations
K★★☆☆☆
I just visited this place and I assumed animals are free but they live in a borderline and its kinda sad to watch them not being free in the mountain. Some of them look good physically but I saw two animals looked unhealthy

Super cool park with small lake next to it. They put a lot of effort to make it nice and they are investing more and more to upgrade it. There are parking around, playgrounds, pump track, benches to chill etc. There is also a Restaurant.
RAMISHKA SRIMAL★★★★★
Tucked in La Balme-de-Sillingy at the foot of the French Alps, Parc des Jardins de Haute-Savoie is a peaceful botanical escape that feels like a living postcard. The garden is laid out as a vibrant tapestry of 50+ themed plots, with seasonal blooms, ponds, vegetable beds, cherry trees, peonies, and miniature sculptures that nod to local heritage. Winding paths lead you past colorful flowerbeds and fragrant herbs, while birds and butterflies add movement everywhere you look. It’s calm, family-friendly, and surprisingly educational — signs explain plant species, and kids love the playground and egg hunts in spring. With a café on site and views of the Alps in the distance, it’s perfect for a relaxed stroll, picnic, or quiet photo session. Open daily 10am–7pm, the park delivers big charm in a small green setting — a true celebration of nature’s beauty and Haute-Savoie’s landscape.

A very cute little garden. We've already done the walk, but it saves us a short climb along the ramparts path. A nice little stop just before the Annecy Castle Museum. In peak season, it must be packed with tourists. Pretty, but not essential.

A lovely wooded park, not very extensive, but still worth a visit. In the early afternoon there were hardly any other walkers, it was very pleasant and the woods smelled wonderful 😊
Shuna Grey★★★☆☆
The park is beautiful but small, literally a 5.7-minute walk to one trail. The problem is that it's surrounded by private property (not always beautiful), and you can't turn off the trail. But the biggest problem is that you can't reach the river from the park; it's all in farm fields with no trails or roads. You can see the river but can't cross it (there's a stream in the park, too). There's an old church nearby; it's closed, but the building is beautiful. So, it's just a trail through private property and fields, with no way out (the biggest problem). For those who live nearby, it's a great place for walking and jogging; I doubt I'd make a special trip.
Yanick Gourville★★★★☆
A lovely discovery, a refreshing and scenic route. The undergrowth is very pleasant. I'm adding it to my list of walks to do in the area.
Alexandre Perez★☆☆☆☆
I've never seen a park with so many dogs off-leash. It's mandatory to keep them on them. Even with my two dogs on leashes, we're constantly bothered by others who don't respect this rule.
Paul Devoucoux★★☆☆☆
Despite the numerous signs requiring dogs to be kept on leashes, very few people comply with the law. In the morning, you'll see a dozen dogs running free, frolicking and defecating anywhere near the promenade. No one seems to mind. What a shame.

A large and beautiful park, Vignières Pommaries, located in the heart of Annecy-le-Vieux. Cycle path Children's playground Lawn for relaxation A pleasant place for walkers and those who want to unwind. Long live green nature!
Marc Baillard★★★★☆
A pleasant park, away from the noise and crowds of the lakeside, offering a shady spot for relaxation. There's a vineyard parking lot nearby, as well as a small children's playground. A great place to discover with young children.
Animal Queen★★★☆☆
The park would be perfect if scooters didn't speed through it... If only some people would pick up their litter 🚯... (The Roster wrapper is right across the street). And to think the municipal police station is next to the park, but I've never seen them do a patrol, not even a preventative one. There's very little lighting at night, which creates ideal opportunities for all kinds of vandalism. It's such a shame because the place is beautiful and deserves to be preserved.
Mounir M★★★★☆
It's a fantastic park, where all generations and social backgrounds mingle. With a grassy area for running and lounging, two play areas for children, a view of the mountains, shops nearby, and the lake a 5-minute walk away.

This is garden with variety of plants. I really like it.
Elise Grandetechoué★★★★★
A very pretty and pleasant garden. The gardeners and the young students who tend it throughout the seasons do wonders! While each season has its charm, my favorite remains late spring: full of joyful colors and delightful floral scents. You can also safely observe the bees' ballet, as two hives are located a little further away and surrounded by a glass-fronted wooden shelter. Perfect for a pleasant stroll. Very easy to access, whether on foot, by bike, or even by car. Enjoy your visit! Update after renovations (lol): A few trees and a pergola have disappeared, which is a shame, but on the other hand, the abbey has been superbly restored. I've added a few photos (taken on July 27, 2023).
Pika Delph★★☆☆☆
The renovated buildings are beautiful. And the exhibition space inside the building is nice. However, the garden is a huge disappointment. The pergola covered in climbing plants, which was lovely and provided shade on summer days, is gone. The variety of trees planted certainly won't provide that in the long run, as they won't be large. There are no more bushes or grasses that provided shelter for small animals and insects, and again, shade in the summer. Let's also talk about the heavily paved area (artificial soil) which will trap heat in the summer, preventing rainwater from infiltrating. There used to be fences with gates; it's a shame they've all been opened up. The school, which has the plot with fruits and vegetables, will, I think, benefit even less from them... I won't be able to have a picnic with the children I babysit without worrying they'll run away... This will affect parents with young children and childminders, as well as nature itself. It was a place that didn't feel too artificial, but now it is. It has to be "clean." People with their dogs, as usual, won't respect anything (dog pee and poop). Children won't be able to run freely in the grass anymore... What will the large vegetable plots actually bring compared to the old ones (plants)? I've seen plant species that won't grow very big. They won't offer anything particularly useful in the event of a future heatwave... Once again, no thought has been given... Like some other parts of the renovated neighborhood... It's pretty, but that's all...
Thierry Lejeune★★★★☆
A very pretty but run-down place. I think the city is going to do some work there.
michel lapointe★★★★☆

ioannis aloupis★★★★★
Very beautiful nature, lake, harbor, beach with a fairy-tale island, a gem.
Jesús Antonio Vizcaíno Jiménez★★★★★
One of those details that seem natural or decorative, that no one pays attention to, but has a rich history behind it. It's a small artificial island created around 1854 with sediment dredged from the Thiou River, planted with trees from the start and protected by a low stone wall. In fact, it's the only island you'll see in the lake. Its name is no coincidence: in 1857, the city of Geneva, and in 1858, the House of Savoy in Turin, gifted the first pairs of swans to Annecy, and these birds began using the islet as a refuge and nesting site. Since then, the place has been known as Swan Island and is a small sanctuary for lake birds: swans, cormorants, gulls, kingfishers, and herons. Landing on the island is prohibited, but it's very visible from the Jardins de l’Europe and the Pâquier, and if you rent a pedal boat or a small boat, you can skirt around it closely without disturbing the wildlife. I like to think of it as a reminder that, even in a highly urbanized and touristy environment, the lake still has its small spaces reserved for nature, visible but untouched. As a "detail" in the Annecy landscape, I find it beautiful.

Essential Tips for Visiting Annecy’s Parks

To make the most of your time in Annecy’s natural spaces, it helps to prepare like a local. The experience of visiting these parks changes drastically depending on the season, the time of day, and what you bring with you. Whether you are planning a full day of hiking through green corridors or simply looking for a shady spot to enjoy a croissant, these practical tips will help you navigate the city’s outdoor culture with ease and respect for the environment.

1. Respect the "Parcs et Jardins" Etiquette
The French take great pride in their public gardens, and Annecy is no exception. While many lawns are open for lounging, some are strictly decorative and marked with signs reading "Pelouse Interdite" (Lawn Prohibited). Always look for signage before laying down a blanket, and never pick flowers or disturb the meticulously trimmed hedges. Keeping these spaces pristine ensures they remain beautiful for everyone.

2. Time Your Visit for the Golden Hour
If you are visiting for photography or romance, plan your trip for the late afternoon. The light in Annecy is spectacular between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM during the summer months. The low sun illuminates the lake and the surrounding peaks, casting a warm glow over the gardens. Additionally, the midday heat can be intense in July and August, so an evening visit is often far more comfortable.

3. Pack a Picnic from the Local Markets
While some parks have snack kiosks, the best way to enjoy them is with local produce. Head to the markets in the Old Town first to pick up Tomme de Savoie cheese, fresh baguettes, and local saucisson. Many of the lakeside parks have public water fountains where you can refill your bottle, but bringing a sharp knife and a lightweight blanket will significantly elevate your experience.

4. Utilize the Excellent Cycling Infrastructure
Annecy is one of the most bike-friendly cities in France. Instead of driving and struggling with limited parking near the lake, rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in the city center. The dedicated cycling paths run directly through several of the major green spaces, allowing you to park hop efficiently while enjoying the cool breeze off the water.

5. Be Aware of Seasonal Closures and Events
Some gardens, particularly the more historic ones like the Jardins de l’Europe, occasionally close early for private events or maintenance during the off-season. Additionally, during the summer months, parks host festivals and fireworks displays that can draw massive crowds. Check the local tourism office’s online calendar before you go if you are looking for either peace or a party.

The beauty of Annecy is that you don’t have to venture far from the city center to find a slice of paradise. The integration of nature into the urban fabric is what makes this Alpine town so special. Taking the time to sit on a bench, listen to the rustling leaves, and watch the world go by is not just a tourist activity here—it is a fundamental part of the local lifestyle.

Whether you choose the formal elegance of a French garden or the wild, untamed banks of the lake, you will leave feeling refreshed. These green spaces are the lungs of the city, offering a quiet counterpoint to the adrenaline of mountain sports. So pack your bag, put on your walking shoes, and discover the natural splendor that makes Annecy truly unforgettable.
