This is one of the best experiences we've ever had. The food was amazing and the owners were spectacular. Some of the best Italian food we've ever had. I must visit when you're in Carcasson. The chef is from Italy and opened this restaurant with his family member.
The service was top-notch. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Definitely visit while you are here. 😍😍

Such a hidden gem! Highly recommended, the food was amazing, and the staff were very attentive and kind. We don’t speak any French, but they kindly tried to explain the menu in Spanish. I celebrated my birthday there, and they even added a candle to my dessert 🎂✨ Merci beaucoup! 💖

Very special place a bit out of the inner city. But worth the walk!! Very camp interior and yummy dishes. We had to wait a bit long but were instantly rewarded with a free and equally camp and delicious pavlova... reserve a table if you go... we were plain lucky!

Not recommend for foriegns or groups.
The food is tasty
Stuff is not welcoming and not kind as we used to have during our vacation in southern France.
In addiotion to this, they are not knowledgeable about the ingredients in the dishes, they misled us in few dishes.
The restaurant was very hot (uncomfortable to stay) maybe this what affected the staff behavior.
If you are a couple then you might enjoy this place. If you are foriegns or a group then you better lower your expectations.

Wonderful restaurant with great staff and excellent pizza. It is advisable to reserve a table before you arrive, we were lucky we managed to get a table without reservation, but I wouldn’t count with it again. Thanks for the staff for the evening and help, it was really fabulous.

This seems to be an extremely popular place, people queue to get in, how this can be I really don't know! Three of us went for dinner here, we had 2 enrees between us,the focaccia which was very tasty and aubergine with tomato sauce, this was also very tasty however it was barely at room temperature in the middle. Our son ate this and didn't mention it until he had eaten it all just saying it's OK , don't worry. We then had our main courses, I ordered the carbonara which was very dry and some of the guanciale was extremely charred. My wife has the pesto which she said was OK. My son, who was not having a lucky time of things had the sea bass. When it arrived on it's bed of black rice it was nothing more than a gelatinous lump. It literally wobbled on the plate. My son passed it to me to look at, I cut at it but it wouldn't give, I then flipped it over and any resemblance to fish disappeared. It was just jelly. At this point the waiter came running over and asked if everything was OK with the fish to which I said no. The waiter/owner then said he had problems with today's delivery, apologised and offered to change it saying we wouldn't be charged. We got another plate of carbonara which mirrored the first. I was appalled not just at the state of the food but that the "chef" would have plated up such a monstrosity and had the audacity to send it out to see if we'd eat it! We then received cursory service for the rest of our meal . We are up quickly and left. When we settled the bill although we received another muttered apology of sorry about the fish we were charged full price for the replacement meal and received no consideration for the terrible experience we had. I would not recommend this place at all as even aside from the fish the other meals are ordinary at best

Such a wonderful spot! Beautiful space, food was amazing and Carbo the dachshund was the sweetest. Definitely recommend the carbonara!
jonas van de vyver★★★★☆
We had a bruschetta to start, but it wasn’t clear how many pieces it would be; turns out it’s just one slice of bread. For that price, I find it very overpriced.
For the mains, we had the carbonara and amatriciana risotto; both were very good, the carbonara especially— the freshly ground black pepper really complements the dish!
The whiskey sour wasn’t sour at all, so that’s a little bit disappointing.
Also, please provide cushions or invest in better terrace seating, because those tiny metal foldable chairs are honestly unbearable.
Overall, we had a good experience!
Kevin Donno★★★★★
Amazing, super friendly and Carbo the dog was there when we were!

It’s not easy to get good vegetarian meals in France and Carcassonne is no different. This Italian restaurant was a great find. The menu is small but 3 of the starters were vegetarian and one of the mains - considerably better than most. The food was excellent, really tasty and well presented. Nice, helpful staff and, an added bonus, was that the restaurant is named after a resident miniature Dachshund who is very cute and super friendly. Reasonably priced wine and a nice range of desserts also worth a mention. Would definitely recommend for everyone but particularly vegetarians struggling for a change from crepes.

Don’t be drawn in by the marketing! We had 17Eur tortellini which I could have made at home. The waiter said they had no bread (outrageous in a restaurant in France) and the service was appallingly delayed. The wine was tasty but overall this is a costly tourist trap that has no classic French charm, no heart and no soul. Avoid!

A wonderful discovery during my stay in Carcassonne.
We had reserved a table for 8 pm and were served quickly despite the crowd (Friday evening, a public holiday).
The service was pleasant, and the food was delicious!
I had the pasta with pepper sauce, and my sister had the four-cheese pizza with burrata. There was a very generous portion of pasta; I was quite full. It's rare to find such large quantities of homemade pasta in restaurants!
The pizza was flavorful; you could really taste the smoky aroma from the oven—it was delicious.
The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the dishes are as beautiful as they are tasty.
In short: if you enjoy good food, I highly recommend it! 👏🍝🍕

Hidden away within the stunning medieval walls of Carcassonne, we stumbled across this absolute gem of a restaurant while exploring the historic city, and it completely exceeded our expectations.
We decided to try the chef’s special snails and the black pudding salad, and both dishes were phenomenal. While the snail dish appeared deceptively small at first glance, the kitchen certainly didn’t scrimp on the portions—it was packed with snails and surprisingly hearty and filling. The black pudding salad was equally impressive, cooked to absolute perfection and bursting with rich, savory flavor. In fact, it was so good that my partner completely forgot about his beer while eating it!
We were enjoying the experience so much—and the food was so super delicious—that we completely forgot to take any photos. If you are wandering around the walled city and want an authentic, unforgettable meal, make sure you track this place down.

A lovely and local restaurant with attentive and friendly English speaking staff. There is inside and outside covered seating, which is screened off from the road by ironwork with vegetation and pretty lights. On every visit, the owner walked around and greeted everyone, shook hands, made small talk and checked in with guests. The food is lovely, Italian based, but with French classics also. A relaxed, friendly and enjoyable restaurant, great staff and lovely atmosphere, I recommend it.

A real italian restaurant. Also a lot local people come here. A good sign. Food is very tasty. I had the homemade lasagne. The price for 0,25l wine 6 € is very good. You can sit outside under trees. The staff is functional fast. All in all I would come back 🍷

The best French and mixed cousin food in Carcassone. Burger was really good and pizza as well. Lemon tarta was good but very very sour. Overall food was great but the restaurant have problem with the staff. There are no set rules for staff and everyone is doing what they want. Some people waited an hour for food and still didn't get it so they went to other restaurant and that's a lost customers.
Monke★☆☆☆☆
We ordered a margharita pizza and two desserts, the pizza ended up being a grated emmental cheese slab with olives on it, and the other dessert never appeared. Hands down the worst pizza I've ever ordered in Italy or France.
As for the dessert, it was 8,50€ for a slice of chocolate tart that tasted identical to something you'd get from the grocery store for 5th of the price.

Absolutely delightful.
The French love pizza, but unfortunately often get it wrong. The dough thickness and consistency is often lacking.
This place is hands down the best pizza I ever had in France.
The young lady serving us was delightful, so welcoming and friendly.
Our pizzas were superb in every regard.
The only issue is that the map pin is incorrect, the restaurant is actually on the main street, not in the back street!
Second time here and all of the above still stands. The pizzas are superb, the staff lovely, and the restaurant great.

What a perfect find for pizza. Not a fancy restaurant, but not a cheap fast food place. Great prices compared to most places in the old town. Best pizza in Carcasonne, maybe in France. Very tasty, light pizza with fresh ingredients, crunchy, no black spots, just goodness. The owner who is very nice also has italian beers which accomodate nicely with the pizza. I have been there two times in four days and if I was from Carcasonne, this would be my spot! Essential Tips for Enjoying Italian Food in Carcassonne
To make the most of your dining experience in this historic city, it helps to understand a few local nuances. While the Italian restaurants here are authentic, they operate within the rhythm of French dining culture. These practical tips will help you secure a table, order like a local, and ensure your meal is as seamless as it is delicious.
1. Respect the French Dining Schedule
Unlike in Italy where dinner often starts at 7:30 PM or later, French restaurants in Carcassonne typically open their kitchens for dinner around 7:00 PM. Many kitchens close between 9:30 PM and 10:00 PM on weeknights. If you prefer a later meal, check the restaurant’s specific hours, as the Spanish-influenced late dining culture is not as prevalent here.
2. Book Ahead During the Summer Season
Carcassonne is one of the most visited monuments in France, and the summer months (June through August) bring massive crowds. The best Italian spots, especially those with terraces overlooking the river or the old bridge, fill up quickly. It is highly recommended to call or book online a day or two in advance to avoid a long wait or disappointment.
3. Look for "Fait Maison" Indicators
To ensure you are getting the freshest experience, look for signs of homemade preparation. The best pizzerias in Carcassonne will boast about their wood-fired ovens (four à bois) or their homemade pasta. Don’t be afraid to ask the server if the pasta is fresh or if the dough is made in-house; quality establishments are proud to say yes.
4. Pair Local Wines with Italian Classics
While you might be tempted to order a Chianti or Barolo, Carcassonne is surrounded by exceptional vineyards. The Languedoc-Roussillon region produces fantastic reds and rosés that pair beautifully with tomato-based sauces and pizza. Ask your server for a local Corbières or Minervois wine to enjoy an authentic "Franco-Italian" flavor fusion.
5. Be Prepared for the "Cassoulet Break"
While Italian restaurants are the focus, note that some smaller, family-run Italian eateries may adjust their hours or close for annual holidays during the deep winter months (January and February). If you are visiting during the off-season, it is always wise to check social media pages or call ahead to confirm that the restaurant is open for service.
Stepping into a great Italian restaurant in Carcassonne offers a delightful contrast to the heavy medieval architecture surrounding you. The aroma of basil, garlic, and baking dough provides a sensory escape that complements the visual history of the city. Whether you choose a high-end dining room or a simple slice shop, the passion for food remains the common thread.
As you plan your itinerary, remember that the best travel memories are often made around a table. Taking the time to sit down for a leisurely meal at one of these top Italian venues will not only refuel your energy for sightseeing but also offer a taste of how international cultures have woven themselves into the fabric of this ancient French stronghold. Buon appetito!
