Burgos is a city that rewards the slow traveler. Its cobbled lanes, quiet plazas, and the distant sound of church bells create an atmosphere that feels suspended in time. At the heart of it all stands the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Burgos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Spain’s finest examples of Gothic architecture.
Choosing the right base can transform your visit from a simple sightseeing trip into a true immersion in Castilian culture. Staying within walking distance of the cathedral means you can experience its illuminated facade at night, linger over morning coffee in a medieval square, and explore the surrounding historic quarter without rushing.
The area around the cathedral is a pedestrian-friendly maze of tapas bars, artisan shops, and hidden courtyards. Many of the city’s best hotels have been carefully restored from former palaces, convents, and merchants’ houses, preserving original stonework and wooden beams while adding modern comforts.
Whether you are walking the Camino de Santiago, planning a romantic weekend, or exploring Spain’s northern highlands by car, your accommodation choice matters. The right hotel offers not just a bed but a sense of place, with views of spires, easy access to the river walk, and knowledgeable staff who can recommend the best local restaurants.
From intimate boutique guesthouses to elegant four-star properties, the streets surrounding the cathedral offer something for every budget and travel style. Some rooms look directly onto the cathedral’s ornate pinnacles, while others open onto quiet interior patios filled with the scent of jasmine.
In this guide, you will find a curated selection of the best hotels near Burgos Cathedral, each chosen for its location, character, and guest experience. These properties put you at the center of the action while providing a restful retreat after a day of exploration.
The recommendations below are based on verified guest reviews, proximity to the cathedral, and consistent quality of service. You can book with confidence knowing that each option has been evaluated for comfort, cleanliness, and authentic local charm.

A room with a view of the Cathedral was wonderful! We were there at Semana Santa and it was nice to be close to the festivities. We bought an electric kettle to have in room coffee which was not available. The onlu bother was that the bed kept moving away from the wall when we sat up to admire the cathedral.

Basic 3 star hotel, we can’t complain this was exactly that. But was clean and lovely friendly staff.
Located with views of the cathedral. Not ideal if you struggle with stairs as located at the top of a slope.

Unbeatable location with spectacular views of Burgos Cathedral! The room was spacious, elegant and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was big and had all the amenities needed!

Made a mistake and booked the wrong date, entirely my fault. Arrived the day after to discover my error. Charged the no show day, fair enough. But the way in which we were dealt with by the lady on reception was not pleasant. We were ignored for a while, she was busy, but a smile, "uno momento", any acknowledgement would have made a difference. Eventually we were offered a lesser room, no token discount, no sympathy for our situation. Entirely my own fault but really not well handled by the staff, so we left and stayed elsewhere. A little sympathy was all it would have taken.

Two months after my stay, my credit card was charged without reason or communication.
Update: after emailing hotel, they sorted out the issue. They were very responsive. The apartment we stayed in was fantastic. The hotel itself is very well located. I highly recommend.

Great location close to Burgos Cathedral. Also very close to bus station. Rooms are decent size. Bathrooms are modern however a swinging door (ours didn’t quite land in the closed position). Stayed on the 4th floor and only had a skylight, which ended up leaking when a heavy thunderstorm rolled thru. The cafe’ in the lobby is good and great service there! Good way to start the morning.

Great location right across the street from the Cathedral. Rooms are a bit small but had a good-sized clean and modern bathroom. It also had windows facing the street and Cathedral and it was a very nice view. I definitely enjoyed my stay.

Lovely room, on the top floor with a view right out to the cathedral and access to a roof terrace. Air conditioning not great, but the jacuzzi was.

The room is duplex, living room downstairs with the bed And toilet upstairs. I'm not a big fan of this solution. Anyway, the rooms show age. The location is great, very close to the catedral. What I liked were the people's. Very helpful and kind. The building is a renovation of an old building. The original stones where kept and put visible. Recommend the visit.

Terrific experience in what probably is the worst experience we had in over 25 years travelling worldwide. We reported a terrible smell in the toilet, the one that came from the tube itself giving an un breathable odor to all the room, almost at 400€ per night…… The only thing they do is apply a product and never more ask about it, which obviously didn’t improve. We feels to vomit the whole night due the terrible bad odor what we only receive as answer “Im sorry we are full” instead by any means trying to give a fair solution to the problem. As per the category, 2 stars seems already an overqualified rating, first and last time to be anywhere nearby this place. Be aware!

A really great hotel in a perfect location for local tapas and restaurants all within a short walk to the town centre and it has parking, our room was spacious and comfortable the only disturbance was from people coming home from a night out but not for long.
The car park is a little tight but drive slow and steady and you’ll survive. The staff are very friendly and breakfast was good 👍.
The only downside was a lot of bird shit on the balcony 🐦

The cleaners are lovely. We met them because when we arrived for check in at 3.30, got our key and went up to our room, it wasn't cleaned yet.
The place is quite run down.
The breakfast was excellent.
excellent.
The wifi will not connect without internet, and inside the building we can't get internet.

The breakfast is excellent and shouldn't be missed. There is a huge selection, high quality, and where breakfast is served in is beautiful. The room was huge for a hotel, the beds were comfy, and the shower was great. We liked that there was tea and coffee in the room. The only issue in our room was that it smelt like smoke (which we aired out). The location is fantastic and walking distance to the main sites/near the bus. The reception service when we arrived was not friendly at all (this should be improved) but the rest of the service was good. I would recommend to others.

Excellent stay from start to finish. This was one of our favorite NH locations we’ve stayed at. The hotel itself is beautiful, historic and full of character, and the location in Burgos is fantastic. Everything is within walking distance, including the cathedral and so many of the main sights.
The staff was wonderful and very accommodating, especially since we arrived earlier than check-in and they made every effort to have our room ready for us, which we really appreciated after a long travel day. A special thank you to Pia at the front desk, who was especially kind, hospitable and helpful throughout our stay.
Breakfast was also excellent, and overall the entire experience was seamless and enjoyable. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Very pleasant stay.
Nice big rooms, comfortable beds, lovely architecture.
The breakfast is worth 5 stars. Broad range of choice from all continents, 12 sorts of bread, thoughtful service from the staff. It is served in a magnificent room.
Be careful if you want to use the parking lot as it is an underground one pretty narrow.
We would love to come back for a longer stay.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I had not done any research and booked it last minute. I chose it simply because we wanted to be close to the Burgos Cathedral. The hotel was amazing. It is located in a 16th century building. The architecture is beautiful. Everything from the facade to the breakfast space to the staircases was fabulous. The room was well laid out and clean. It also had all the amenities that one might expect and several that we did not expect like a clothing steamer in addition to an iron, three different sizes of pillows, and robes and slippers. The staff was super friendly, and the breakfast was great.

Beautiful hotel full of historical art and features. Particularly varied breakfast with very attentive breakfast staff. Dog friendly and well appointed for river and central city walks. We are loyal regulars and always look forward to our stay here at NH Burgos.

Julie Moran★★★★★
To start, if I could, I would take off half a star for an unreasonably high price we were charged for our two rooms. It didn’t help that we were forced to book this lodging last-minute where our other accommodation fell through, and we went through a stressful hour of trying to find some place to stay. In Europe especially, I’ve found, try to book something at the last minute usually results in paying a ridiculous price for last-minute accommodation, which explained our situation (made worse given we booked two rooms at the “family price” – but with no kids in tow, we had to pay an extra 50 Euros).
Apart from the inflated price, I’d say the serendipity gods were on our side. The “AC Hotel Burgos” met or every need, and then some. We fretted about parking; the hotel had a garage, and we were offered it free (after I bitched about the no-children mark-up), and we were allowed to leave or rental car during the day while we toured the town.
It appeared that the hotel was in an elegant old building that was completely gutted inside to form a triangle-shaped central core five-floors deep. The rooms were sleek, modern and comfortable, with tall windows opening to the street; mine featured a fancy, oxidized green railing that formed a tiny (unusable) terrace. The rooms had all the comforts one could want (including hair conditioner!), including mini-bar; WIFI was rock solid.
A place down the street was recommended to us that served delicious pizza; as we ate and supped on beers, I remarked at the bustling sidewalks, apparently students from the nearby university. It was a lively – one might say exciting – part of town. The next day we discovered the Burgos Cathedral, near where we had planned to stay, was actually the same, short block or two away.
If your budget is tight, stay far away from the AC Hotel Burgos (or at least, plan carefully!!!). If you can afford it, I highly recommend this property.

I don’t know why they call it A/C Marriott when the a/c does not work. The staff was very good until we complained that the air conditioning was not working. The technician that they offered to send never came and we addressed the issue again, they dismissed us rudely. It didn’t help that our last morning we tried to eat our prepaid breakfast but found ourselves competing with an entire youth soccer team that was staying at the hotel. This is not what we expected from the Marriott brand.

Staff very friendly
Rooms spotless
Location brilliant
Two minor issues 1. Pasta Bolognese was dry and tasteless
Parking very difficult to get large car down narrow bend but good to have parking on site

Really well appointed hotel. Rooms were good size although my only negative observation was the shower in our room was over a spa bath and the water went everywhere so not ideal.
Location wise though it was perfect, a 5 minute walk from the Cathedral and on the edge of the old town where all the restaurants were.
Underground parking is a bit tight to get into, especially in my Porsche.

Clean and comfortable hotel in a great location. Breakfast was good, with everything you need to start the day. Very convenient for exploring Burgos on foot.

A complete and utter rip off.
I booked 3 rooms in the hotel for me and my family for what turned out to be a very warm day in Burgos. I arrived in my room around 4pm and set the air conditioning to lowest possible as the room was baking hot. Having turned in just before midnight, the room temperature is currently 26c.
I ask the hotel front desk and they say it’s a known problem and nothing they can do about it. Open the window is the only advice offered.
With the street below still busy with traffic and people, what sort of sleep will be possible?
Here is yet another fraudulent hotel that offers air conditioning which doesn’t work and it’s obvious now looking at other reviews, it’s been a known problem for some time.
If you want to pay hundreds of Euros to stay in a hotel like the Silken Grand Teatro and get ripped off in the process, head for Burgos.
Simon W.★★★★☆
Good location near the old town.
Clean and tidy but not much character. Background music in the lobby strangely loud. Restaurant fairly priced. Very good breakfast. Bar limited to wine and Mahou beers.

This is a hotel that I would not recommend.
I stayed at this hotel for a weekend in January 2026 in order to visit Burgos.
I chose this hotel for its location, the fact that it is recent, and because it has a good rating on Google.
Unfortunately, apart from its location, my stay was very disappointing.
On the first night, we were assigned a room facing the street. The room was poorly insulated, which meant we could hear all the street noise as well as noise from neighboring rooms, not to mention the cold. The bed was on wheels, so it moved when we sat on it. The sink was cracked and had been crudely glued back together. The shower did not close properly (seal issues), causing water to spill all over the bathroom.
We asked to change rooms and were given a room facing the inner courtyard. It was better in terms of temperature; however, we could still hear noise from neighboring rooms. Here again, the finishes were disappointing: a bench in the room that was unstable and coming away from the wall, hand gel holders in the bathroom that were coming loose, patched-up tiles in the bathroom and spotlights whose trims were poorly fixed, a telephone in the room that did not work, and worst of all, a very poorly cleaned room (we found a paracetamol wrapper on the floor, as well as a purple feather and hair).
For a recent hotel, it gives the impression that the owners invested in low-cost materials and pay little attention to maintenance.
Michelangelo Wegner★★★★★
This was an overnight stay while driving around northern Spain.
Check-in was quick and easy. There’s a set down area near the hotel’s front entrance.
As it was a quick stop for us, we only booked a basic room. Clean and comfortable. While some might find the room size a bit tight initially, if you open your luggage and slide the bags under the bed you can easily move around the room.
Our room faced the internal courtyard. While the window could be opened, there wasn’t really a lot of fresh air moving through the room. Also, despite changing settings on the air-con system there was little to no meaningful effect.
There is parking under the hotel. The entrance is just to the left of the hotel entrance. Please be warned that access is very tight!! Our rental car was a late model Citroen C4 (a medium sized SUV). Even with all the warning sounds and reverse camera, it still took a while to park the vehicle. If you take care, you’ll be fine.
Breakfast was varied and of good quality.
The hotel is situated about 10-15mins level walk to the sights of the old town.

✨ A Wonderful Stay in a Beautifully Renewed Hotel ✨
My stay at this hotel was truly memorable. From the moment I arrived, the staff welcomed me with warmth and genuine care, making me feel completely at ease. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and perfectly maintained — every detail designed for rest and relaxation.
What really stood out, however, was the newly developed area of the hotel. It’s clear that so much thought and passion went into this project. The design combines elegance with modern comfort, offering guests a space that feels fresh, inspiring, and serene. Walking through this area was a delight — everything is beautifully crafted, filled with natural light, and creates an atmosphere of calm sophistication.
It adds a whole new dimension to the hotel, making the stay not just comfortable, but truly unforgettable. I can honestly say this place has become one of my favorites, and I look forward to returning soon.

Good location. nice but dated room. Fantastic shower. Very helpfull pleasant staff and somewhere to keep my bike. Not worth the £134 i paid. The breakfast was the poorest of my trip. No scrambled eggs or bacon, nothing hot unless you include unlimited coffee and cheap white sliced bread in a toaster. Croissant like most of the pastry, fresh out of the plastic bag.

No air conditioning during 100 degree heatwave. Had a fan that didn’t work and front desk was surprised I had a complaint during a heatwave and after a 5 hour trek. Needed for the fan to be replaced. Window opens to a heavily lit and loud square with revelers until 4am. Room has two old twin beds with dated mattresses pushed together. Stern woman running a joyless breakfast with deli meats and sliced bread. If you want a haunted, abandoned nursing home environment, here is your find!

The hotel was basic but clean and good value for money. We didn't eat breakfast here, it seemed fine for the price, amd would be great if you were pushed for time. But we preferred to go to the cafe around the corner which was very reasonable and had more choice. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel accepted my credit card and reservation in advance, but less than 24 hours before I was due to arrive, they informed me that they could not process the payment. I contacted my bank and they confirmed that the card was fine and that the hotel had not attempted payment. The response of the hotel was that they could not process the payment and that as the reception was only open for a few hours each day and would not be available on my arrival, I would need to cancel the reservation. It is now low season in Burgos, so I was able to get another hotel with no payment issues - this will not be the situation in a few weeks when high season starts. I accept that hotels need payment in advance, but they need to ensure they have adequate systems to accept payment and not expect the customer to find the solution for a problem that belongs to the hotel. I can only assume that they were overbooked and it was easy cancel a solo traveler. As a pilgrim, I would not recommend this hotel to anybody doing the Camino and certainly not to solo female travelers - we all need a hotel that is reliable and there are good alternative options in Burgos.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Corona de Castilla in Burgos after completing our Camino, and it was the perfect place to recover and relax.
The hotel is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of the beautiful old town and the magnificent Burgos Cathedral. Our room was spacious, spotless, quiet, and very comfortable, with a large bathroom and every amenity we could have wished for. The air conditioning was a true blessing after the heat of the Camino, and having a refrigerator in the room was an added bonus.
The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and we enjoyed a wonderful night’s sleep. We were also impressed by the warm welcome from the receptionist. She was friendly, professional, and efficient. Check-in was quick and effortless, she made us feel at home immediately, and even arranged our taxi for the following morning without any hassle.
Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so enjoyable. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend Hotel Corona de Castilla to anyone visiting Burgos, especially fellow Camino pilgrims.

The location is good and the garage allows for taller cars. Staff professional and speaks English. The room was large and the shower was nice.
However, the soundproofing is almost non-existent. We listened to our neighbours' TV until two in the morning and to their intimate socialising before breakfast.
A second important factor to our poor experience was the bed. It was rock hard and made it impossible to get comfortable.
If you like very hard beds and don't mind hearing your neighbours through the walls, this is a good hotel.

ABBA Burgos is unfortunately not a 4-star experience -more like 3 stars at best. The location is great and the building has some potential but the hotel itself feels very dated and worn, and the service is inconsistent depending on who you speak to.
We left our car around 1pm and were told check-in was at 3pm, but when we returned at 5pm, our room still wasn’t ready. We were given a voucher for two drinks at the bar while waiting, which was fine in principle, but then found out only the most basic beer and soft drinks were included. Honestly, I’d rather have just had the room ready. If you’re going to offer a gesture, letting guests choose their drinks would leave a much better impression.
There were other small inconsistencies too, like asking for an iron and ironing board and being told they only provide irons. Overall, a good location and a property with potential, but it really needs a makeover and much more consistent service to justify 4 stars.

Comfortable beds, kind staff, great service, best hotel breakfast I‘ve ever had. The location is perfect to explore the old town of Burgos. Highly recommend staying here!

The hotel seemed very nice, but my experience was bad. When I got to my room, it was sweltering -the a/c was not on. A woman from the front desk came up to turn it on. I gave it two hours to cool down but unfortunately the a/c was apparently not working in the bedroom (and I have my suspicious the hotel knew that when they gave me the room but I'm not certain). A second person came up to confirm that the a/c wasn't working and told me the hotel was fully booked so they couldn't change my room, and I should open the door to my terrace later on to cool it down. There was no sympathy, no offer of even a free extra water and her solution was not acceptable, because the terrace was open to a number of different guest rooms and I didn't feel like sleeping in a somewhat insecure situation. When I checked out, no one knew about what happened and when I tried to speak to the manager he/she was on the phone. I was very disappointed with how the hotel handled or didn't handle the situation.

This is not a three star hotel. Maybe it was 5-10 years ago. The hotel was ok but for a three star hotel and all the glowing reviews from years past, I was disappointed. It was a little shabby, the bed was uncomfortable (I can sleep well nearly anywhere), the wi-fi was weak and kept cutting out, and the help at the front desk varied greatly from person to person. I also laughed at what they described as a view of the courtyard. It’s a large light well. When I asked the front desk what some of the old knobs and controls were on the wall near the bed, they didn’t know. This place needs some investment and a refresh. Location is great though.

Stayed here for three days as a rest stop during my camino. Conveniently located near the major sights -- either walking distance (Cathedral, Monasterio de San Juan, etc.) or a short taxi ride away (Cartuja de Santa Maria de Miraflores and Monasterio de Santa Maria la Real de las Huelgas). The service provided was exceptional. My room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Wifi connection was fast and stable. Breakfast was delicious and the choices were varied. I spent one night at this quiet, comfortable and centrally located hotel in Burgos. My room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed, wall mounted smart TV, ample closet space and picturesque views of the city since I was on the 8th floor. The bathroom had a walk in shower and excellent water pressure. The hotel wifi reception was excellent. However, there was no mini fridge in my room. I was able to find very convenient free street parking just across the street for my rent a car - the hotel also has its own parking garage. There is a breakfast buffet available for a reasonable fee. The reception staff were all professional, courteous and English speaking. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Burgos.

Extremely helpful staff. I had a room booked for business on Friday night, but I arrived Thursday; they found me a room, and despite the different bookings, I was able to keep the room. The breakfast is a feast, and the rooms have everything you need, with good quality WiFi and spacious for a desk. There is also a desk area downstairs; the location is excellent, central Burgos is within walking distance.

Good hotel if travelling with a car. Location is only a few minutes walk from the centre and there is good secure underground parking. The room was quite small with limited space to unpack much - but it was clean and comfortable - and fine for just one night. Good value for money.

I stayed with my wife for 6 nights while she was participating in a project at Burgos' University and enjoyed a lot. All atendants were very gentle and helpfull, modern and practical instalations, great breakfast and superb location near Burgos' Plaza Mayor & Cathedral (With an amazing night view from our room on 10th floor). Had parking, thought we did not used it. Vending machines at reception level. The only suggestion I would make to improve is to have frigobars at the rooms. I really recommend it.
Tips for Choosing Your Stay Near Burgos Cathedral
Finding the perfect hotel requires more than just checking a map. The historic center of Burgos is compact but layered, with different streets offering different atmospheres, noise levels, and accessibility. These practical tips will help you narrow down your options and avoid common pitfalls when booking your stay.
Prioritize walkability over parking. If you are driving, understand that most hotels in the cathedral district have no private parking or very limited spaces. The nearest public parking garages are usually a five- to ten-minute walk away. Choose a hotel that clearly explains its parking arrangement, and pack light if possible.
Check for elevator access. Many historic buildings near the cathedral have been renovated, but some smaller guesthouses still lack elevators. If you have mobility concerns or heavy luggage, confirm that the property has a lift or request a ground-floor room in advance.
Ask about soundproofing and room orientation. Rooms facing the main pedestrian streets or popular tapas squares can be lively until late, especially on weekends. A room facing an interior courtyard or a quieter side street will give you a better night’s sleep while keeping you steps from the action.
Consider the season. Burgos has cold winters and can be surprisingly busy during summer and religious festivals. If you are visiting in July or August, confirm that your room has air conditioning. In winter, check that heating is reliable and that the hotel has a cozy common area for relaxing after sightseeing.
Look for breakfast quality and local character. A hotel that serves fresh bread, local morcilla de Burgos, and good coffee will save you time and money compared to tourist-oriented cafes. Some boutique properties include homemade pastries or regional cheeses, which adds real value to your stay.
Read recent reviews about service. The best hotels near the cathedral are often family-run or small enough to offer personalized attention. Look for consistent mentions of helpful staff, clear communication, and genuine hospitality rather than just stylish photos.
Burgos is a city that lingers in the memory long after you leave. Waking up to the sound of cathedral bells, stepping out into a street that has welcomed pilgrims for centuries, and ending your day with a glass of Ribera del Duero in a nearby plaza is an experience no chain hotel on the outskirts can replicate.
By choosing a well-located hotel near the cathedral, you give yourself the gift of time. Time to wander without a schedule, to return for a midday rest, and to see the city in its most peaceful early-morning and late-evening hours. That is the true value of staying in the heart of Burgos.
