Very good experience!
-Location: Every interesting spot is within walking distance. The view from the room was amazing, by the way. The neighborhood is quiet, which was really appreciated.
-Hotel & room: Everything feels brand new and beautifully renovated. A high level of comfort is guaranteed.
-Customer service: Genuinely kind and attentive staff. We really appreciated feeling listened to and helped whenever needed. The team was proactive and always willing to find solutions.
-Parking: Located only a 2-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel also offers a good arrangement with the Arc de Triomphe parking garage
We are happy to have chosen you guys !

Very good location, close to the city center. It takes no more than 5 minutes to walk from the nearest city parking to the hotel. Check in advance with the hotel about discounts on city parking. The discount is quite large. The room is spacious, clean, comfortable bed, good hot water pressure in the bathroom. Breakfast is enough for those who prefer to have a good meal in the morning. Very friendly staff.

Wonderful small hotel, we did have the power going in and out, but the room was excellent otherwise, and the staff was a helpful as they could be under the circumstances. Wonderful location in the old city, a little hard to find, but well worth the stay and visit. Beautiful city. Recommended.
mihai dumitrescu★★★★☆
All fine, rooms are nice and staff is great.
Only minus : we had an executive room located at 3rd floor. Just there is no elevator above 1st floor! So ask in advance where your room will be especially if you are not fit to climb some very twisted stairs!
Seamus Gilchrist★★★★★
The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The room was quite large with a large bathroom and a nice view over the cathedral and the mountains. The breakfast terrace is super and spent a fair amount of time working there (despite the heat as you catch a little breeze) outside of breakfast time - super pleasant in the evening and nobody there. Breakfast in covid times is served as opposed to a help yourself buffet (and hence is more a continental breakfast but plenty including fruit, yogurt, pastries, etc..) The location is fantastic - quiet enough to get some sleep (not the case staying in l'Ecusson) but still plenty of restaurants and 2 minute walk to market, etc.. Overall a great stay for the price (though as some others have noted, the hotel would benefit from a little bit of refurbishing at some point).

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel. There was a lot of noise very late into the night. People yelling in the hallways and slamming doors. I paid for a towel that I never got because there was no one at the front desk. The television didn’t work, the heater didn’t either and because of that I couldn’t sleep at all. Even with a blanket on, it was way too cold. I wouldn’t go there again if it was free.
I am replying to your dishonest response under the original review. I am adding a screenshot of the payment for the towel you said wasn’t in your system. Your dishonesty is just as unsatisfying as the stay in your hotel.
sara gomez★☆☆☆☆
A very disappointing experience. At late hours of the night, continuous noise from children running and crying, doors opening and slamming, and adults talking loudly in the corridors made rest impossible. There was no staff or management present to address the situation. Overall, the atmosphere was disrespectful. I would advise choosing a different place to stay.

Good place and location. Parking is nice. Breakfast is ok. Rooms are ok. Clean. Fees...a few extra fees make this place same cost as chain hotels in area. I.e. checking in is at 1600...unless early check in fee. Parking is nice...but it costs same as chain hotles...so, just get chain hotel.
Rahul Gupta★★★☆☆
The service from the guy at the counter is bad, keeps making faces, unhelpful, gave us the keys but didn't activate it, & just plain rude.
The rooms are not advertised on agoda if you're booking from there, no balcony but charged the same prices, although there are a lot of rooms, they provided a room on the far end & to top it off gave us the keys without activating it where we had to come back all the way to get it fixed.
The AC rooms are fine.

The room was very clean, and the bed was really comfortable. We also enjoyed having breakfast in the outdoor area, which was a nice and relaxing space. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and we would be happy to stay here again.

My second stay. Staff are consistently kind and helpful. The one bedroom apartments are very clean and supplied with linens and a microwave, two burner stove and coffee maker. There is a pleasant central courtyard where my dog and I sat several times. I felt very welcome, along with my dog.

Comfortable budget accommodation in an, otherwise expensive city for accommodation. Nice plentiful breakfast, decent coffee. Don't drink expresso but there was a machine in our room. Approximately 15 minutes walk into the city, depending on fitness level.

The hotel’s location, right by Place de la Comédie, is excellent and makes it easy to explore the city on foot. The staff were wonderful throughout our stay—everyone at reception was friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help.
Our room was comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well, which was a real bonus given the hot weather. The décor is a little unusual and may not be to everyone’s taste, but that’s a minor point.
Overall, it’s a beautiful building in a fantastic location with excellent staff and comfortable rooms. It was perfect for our stay, and we’d happily return.
Aileen Sellers★★★★★
Ideally placed for a stay in Montpelier and a five minute walk from the station should you wish to investigate the wider region. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Our room was very comfortable, impeccably clean and the air-conditioning was fantastic (it was 38° when we stayed). We would definitely returned to the hotel.

Nice boutique hotel with a fantastic location! Front desk was friendly, room was good. Older building so we had to work around the outlets a bit, but not surprising. Would stay here again if back in Montpellier.

If you are planning to stay at the hotel, call ahead to make sure the A/C is working. We checked in on May 29th. The AC has been down the whole weekend. I have complained every day, and was informed this has been an issue all week. Their response has been to supply you with a fan… our room is 33c. I find it unbelievable that they could not address this on Saturday, or Sunday. I guess HVAC contractors don’t work on the weekend. A fan does not change the temperature. Front staff has been great.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The breakfasts were rich, varied, and delicious, with excellent coffee and a good selection of juices.
The lobby is equipped with a microwave, and there is also an option to purchase ready-to-eat meals and snacks, so it is almost impossible to go hungry.
The reception staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and always willing to help or provide useful information. Unfortunately, we do not remember everyone's names, but we would especially like to thank Ivanna for her kindness and support.
The air conditioning in the room worked perfectly, the soundproofing was very good, and the Wi-Fi connection was fast and reliable. Whenever needed, we could comfortably work on our laptops in the lobby.
The hotel is located in a quiet area, which made our stay even more relaxing. We would be happy to stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.
Mr. M★★★☆☆
The hotel is fine for a quick stay, but very basic. The room was
small and felt a bit worn, and the soundproofing could definitely
be better. Cleanliness was good, though nothing impressive.
Staff were polite but the service is minimal, as expected for a
budget hotel. The location is not so convenient very far way from
the city center was say in the name center, but overall it's just a
simple place to sleep - nothing more.
The rooms, for a family of 3 with a teenager, i believe a bit more
attention to the room size.

Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant overall. The hotel was comfortable and well-maintained, and the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our visit. We also appreciated that it is conveniently located near the Montpellier Sud-de-France Gare station. We truly enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay here again.
Peter Lindsey★★★★☆
Overall the experience was good given the fact that it's a Budget hotel. It's not right in the centre, but the walk into the centre is only about 30 minutes and quite pleasant. I expected it to be noisier, but it was quiet - very good soundproofing of the rooms. The breakfast is basic, but again it's a Budget, so it's what you expect.

My lover and I were looking for lodging near the Montpellier airport because of a delayed flight and were happy to find the wonderful gem in Montpellier. The place had a really nice atmosphere, a bungaloo vibe and it was clean.
The price was amazing. The breakfast was very good and we had some of the best bread we have ever tried. Unsure if it was bread or pastry.
All in all, enjoyed our stay very much!

As Americans, we were pleasantly surprised to find that this Courtyard is a level above the typical Courtyard properties in the United States.
The staff were excellent, and as a Titanium Elite member, my status was recognized and I was upgraded. I also appreciated the thoughtful handwritten welcome note, especially considering I was only staying for one night.
Breakfast was complimentary for us with Titanium level, and I found it to be very good with a nice selection of options. The pool area was pleasant, and the room was spacious and comfortable.
Overall, a great stay with attentive service and several nice touches that made us feel valued. I would definitely stay here again.
Petras Petraitis★☆☆☆☆
The room was surprisingly spacious for a hotel in France, and I liked the personalized welcome message displayed on the TV when I first entered the room. It was a nice touch.
Unfortunately, several things made this stay disappointing. The biggest issue was arriving by car. There is only a very small parking area in front of the entrance with space for around three cars, and every time I passed by it was full. For a 4 star hotel, I expected a better arrival experience or at least a convenient place where guests can stop while checking in.
The TV welcome message was nice the first time, but the TV automatically turned itself on every morning to display it again. If I turn the TV off, I expect it to stay off until I choose to use it again.
There were no USB C charging ports next to the bed. I stayed in several 3 star hotels in France that offered this, so it was surprising not to find them here.
This was also the only hotel during my trip where the security deposit (pre-authorization hold) on my card could not be processed automatically because my bank rejected the transaction. That was unexpected and made check in less convenient.
Sound insulation was poor. I could hear conversations from the neighboring room and even chairs being moved across the floor.
Finally, I was disappointed that slippers were not available, even after asking at reception. I've stayed in other hotels where slippers were not placed in the room but were happily provided on request. Considering the carpets throughout the hotel, it would have been a welcome amenity.
Another inconvenience was the parking access card. A new card had to be collected from reception every day instead of using the room key, which many hotels already integrate into one system. None of these issues alone would ruin a stay, but together they made the hotel feel below what I expected from a 4 star property.
Janan Zayed★★★★☆
We stayed for one night and found the overall experience to be highly enjoyable. The views were exceptional, contributing significantly to the atmosphere of the stay. Upon arrival, the reception team was welcoming, attentive, and provided all necessary information in a professional manner. Throughout our visit, the staff consistently demonstrated friendliness and a willingness to assist, ensuring that all requests were handled efficiently.
The room was comfortable, and the bed in particular provided an excellent night’s sleep. While the accommodation met expectations, the space felt somewhat limited, and the availability of only two accessible power points in the room was slightly inconvenient.
Breakfast was a highlight of the stay, offering a wide and satisfying selection. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and the Courtyard can be recommended as a quality option for accommodation.
Lampros Zolotas★☆☆☆☆
A terrifying experience for my family. Two men used a key to enter our kids connecting room at 3:50 PM while my wife was inside. She had to physically confront and push the intruders out of our daughters' room to stop the robbery. Valuable jewelry—family gifts held for years—was stolen.
The management’s response has been a disgrace. They offered us an upgrade and when i asked them how does this makes my family and my wife feel safe, they told us to move to another hotel and pay our money back.
For almost a day, the Director was “unreachable.” When he finally surfaced through an email, he showed zero empathy, even claiming he was “just as affected” as we were. After 17 years of monthly travel, I have never seen such a lack of professional "Duty of Care."
Now, they are playing games with the reimbursement. Despite admitting the security failure in writing, having footage of the robbers along with other claims from other rooms, plus the police was also in the hotel and confirmed the incident, they are stalling and not paying for the items lost due to their negligence. This hotel is not secure, and the leadership is incompetent. If you are traveling with family, stay elsewhere.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. Position incredibly close to the historical center, in a relatively modern building next to the Polygone Mall. The reception was extremely polite and yhe crew in general was kind and helpful. The structure in general appears clean and welcoming. The room was reasonably spacious, with air conditioning; however the bathroom had been used and not flushed as we arrived, and furniture was dirty and covered with dust. The bed was done and clean though. There is no refrigerator in the room and the furniture appears in need of renovation. In general we had a decent stay, and we chose not to complain with the staff because everyone was so polite and kind to us that we felt bad to complain for something we could tolerate for such a short stay.
Breakfast is good but a bit expensive.
Garage is available, with direct access from the hotel.
Be careful at night because the lower and darker areas beneath the hotel tend to become unsafe.

Great stay at the Ibis near Place de la Comédie. The location is perfect; right in the heart of Montpellier, close to everything. The rooms are clean and comfortable, simple but functional. It’s definitely on the budget-friendly side, but the unbeatable location more than makes up for any small downsides. A very good choice for exploring the city on foot.

Great hotel in a very good, central location, close to downtown, but just outside to provide peace and quiet. Breakfast is good with a good selection of options. The scrambled eggs are homemade and really tasty. The pool is excellent with friendly bar service. Easily reachable by car or public transportation. Definitely worth a repeat if we are in town again.
We did have an issue with the AC in our room, but the hotel promptly provided us with a new room.
Kristine McDonald★★★★☆
Pros:
The room was quite large and the bed was very comfortable.
Pool was nice as it was very hot during our visit. It is kinda small for the size of the hotel but it served it’s purpose.
Cons:
Housekeeping doesn’t refresh/ clean room until very late in the afternoon.
Two days in a row we came back after being gone all day to have them start cleaning our room at 2:45 and the next day 3:15. The “Please make up my room” sign was out both time
When we arrived at 2:00 pm to check in we were told check in time is 4:00 pm but we could come back at 3:00 to see if we could check in “early”. Hotel reservation confirmation shows 3:00 check in, hotel web site shows 3:00 as does the printed information on the back of the hotel room door.
Sabina Rahman★☆☆☆☆
This is a perfectly fine hotel, a bit dated maybe, but I’m not very fussy. However, a day into my stay, my aircon stopped working. The hotel staff promised a tech would come and fix it, and despite raising the lack of working aircon each evening when I returned, and promises that the tech would come by in the morning, there was never a fix. The tech never came or the system was unfixable. I was never given a solution - a new room, portable aircon, compensation. Nothing.
Additionally, I made a couple of local calls which a supposed to be included free with thr room. Upon check out, I was charged for these. I was on a time crunch as my taxi was arriving so I couldn’t argue about it.
And finally, I paid for a fruit bowl on arrival and the selection was dreadful. Two powdery apples and a couple of apricots and kiwis that were rock hard and inedible. Definitely not worth paying for.
All in all, I could not recommend this place.
Matt Austin★☆☆☆☆
Poorly functioning air con in room reported twice to hotel but not fixed.
Weak shower pressure, leaking bath tap and peeling ceiling in bathroom.
Dirty ironing board and floor in room.
Terrible sound proofing of room meaning we weren't able to sleep well, the second night there was an all night rave outside the hotel which the hotel did nothing to protect their guests from.
Swimming pool far too small for the size of the hotel populated by trashy people smoking and leaving litter.
Average breakfast for the price, some of the "hot" buffet items were cold.
Indifferent or rude staff who didn't even say hello to guests.
Overall, a complete disgrace. Avoid.

Super Central Hotel in Montpellier
We stayed here at the beginning of the year with my family. The rooms were okay but the rate was really good. Overall Fantastic value for money for me as I could get two rooms (one for me and my wife and one connecting for the teenagers kids).
I would definitely stay here again!
The adjacent parking was also really handy, the only problem here being that you need to go through outside to get to your car but it was a minor nuisance.

We are asian. For me I considered this is a racisim.
We have got a bad service and the response from staff was not friendly as we saw the review.
We have to ask for food and water for breakfast meal which was included in the room type we have booked. Therefore we have to buy water in order not to bother the staff.
Staff have not mentioned anything about city tax since we have arrived. But after 2 nights of stay, the staff asked us to pay city tax immediately while we are rush to catch our train to another town in an inappropriate manners. There are many more situations while we stay here.
This is such a disappointed and bad experience for my first time in France.

Staff was more friendly and helpful than other 3-4 star places. Perhaps it was low traffic weekend, there was plenty of parking. Located in a residential area, the hotel is quiet.
With the discount that week, the price was low. The room and the bathroom were spacious. The desk had coffee in room. The safe was useful but the area appeared to be quite safe.

Great hotel!! I really enjoyed my stay. My room was clean and bright with a fabulous balcony where I could sit and watch the sunset. The bed was super comfortable with crisp white sheets and a fluffy comforter. The AC worked great and kept the room very cool. The bathroom had a bathtub and endless hot water for a great soak and also had a banging towel heater which you can use to dry your bathing suit etc. Also, there is a washer and dryer available. The pool was so nice - perfect temperature and clean. You can tell it's a very well managed hotel because the staff were all very helpful, professional and happy. You can tell the rooms and the building are very well maintained. Cherry on top - easy, free parking right in front. I didn't have to use their parking garage once. And pet friendly!! 5 stars!!

Worst hotel experience of my life.
I highly do not recommend this place. With all the reservation confirmed doing the booking weeks before my arrival... They try to call me 2 hours before I get there, unfortunately I was flying.
Consequently I arrive at the hotel later than 11pm and the security guy didn't let me in cause there was a problem with my card.
There a phone number for emergencies, or is useless or they thought that letting me out was not enough emergency... They left me out, I had to "sleep" in the car till 7 am.
Never again.
A shame

The room was very comfortable, nice view of the city with hills in the background gave it an awesome relaxed feeling while sitting on the balcony (where one is allowed to smoke).

JOST Hotel Montpellier is a vibrant and stylish hotel with a unique personality. The modern rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully designed, while the lively bar and restaurant create a welcoming atmosphere. The generous breakfast buffet is an excellent way to start the day. Throughout the hotel, everything appears clean, fresh and well maintained. If you're looking for a contemporary hotel with character and a relaxed vibe, JOST is an excellent choice for a stay in Montpellier.
Thomas Altenburger★★★★★
Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options to choose from... like different types of bread and spreads, cereals, pancakes, croissants, yogurts, and more. Actually, the breakfast buffet felt comparable to that of a higher-end hotel, so I haven't seen hostels where you get so much to eat.
The restaurant and bar have a great atmosphere, making it a pleasant place to relax. The background music (a mix of chill-out, pop, and house) was nice too. You can also order food there in the evening. I ordered a pizza, which I really enjoyed.
The location is very convenient as well, being close to the railway station.
In the dorm itself, the hallway outside of the sleeping room was a bit noisy, so at night you should not be too loud in order to not disturb the others.
Carol H★★★★★
I stayed at Jost in Montpellier for 4 nights at the end of December. I am a mature solo traveler and really appreciate that Jost invests in good mattresses for the travellers who chose to stay in the dorms. I always have a good sleep at a Jost location.
The staff at Jost are great. Helpful and friendly.
The hostel is a few minutes walk from the train station on a walkable grade and there is a good grocery store close by. It is a 15 minute walk to town but there are trams close by too.
The dorm beds are spacious and comfortable. Great blackout curtains and all plugs worked.
The guest kitchen was a bit of a mess when I first arrived but it was the holiday season and they fixed the problem as soon as it was mentioned. Kitchen dishes and cutlery was in short supply.
Overall, Jost Hostel is a very good safe place to stay while visiting Montpellier.
Harry Johnson★★★★☆
A modern and lively hotel with a good location near the train station and city center. Rooms are clean and tidy but often quite small, so it’s better suited for short stays. The strongest impression comes from the common areas and design, while noise and occasional crowds can be an issue for light sleepers.
irina lezaic★★☆☆☆
We stayed at Jost Hotel two times both in the 8 people dorm. Once for a night where the room was in good condition and the ac was working fine. On the second stay for two nights we had bedbugs in our bed, we reported it to the receptionist and later filed a complaint through their Website. Jost never responded. I'm dissapointed in the service that was provided, bedbugs caused us a lot of hastle and mental strain and our issues was ignored.
Tips for Choosing the Right Hotel in Montpellier
Understanding a few local specifics will help you avoid common pitfalls and select a property that truly matches your travel style. Montpellier is compact, but its urban layout and seasonal rhythms can influence how enjoyable your hotel experience is. Here are five key considerations to keep in mind before confirming your reservation.
1. Match the neighborhood to your itinerary. If your priority is sightseeing, dining, and nightlife, staying in or directly beside the Écusson (the historic center) is worth the premium. However, if you are attending a conference at the Corum or the Parc des Expositions, the Antigone and Port-Marianne districts offer modern hotels with quicker tram connections and a quieter evening atmosphere.
2. Check for air conditioning and elevator access. Many charming boutique hotels are located in historic buildings where structural constraints can limit modern installations. During the hot Mediterranean summer, air conditioning is not a luxury—it is essential for a good night’s sleep. Similarly, if you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns, confirm that the property has an elevator, as some renovated mansions still rely on original staircases.
3. Plan your parking strategy in advance. Driving into the historic center of Montpellier is restricted and often stressful for visitors. If you are arriving by car, look for hotels that offer on-site parking or have a formal partnership with a nearby public garage. Booking a hotel slightly outside the pedestrian core can save you significant time and parking fees while keeping you just a short tram ride from the action.
4. Consider the tram lines as your lifeline. Montpellier’s tram system is clean, efficient, and connects the main train station, major squares, beaches, and business districts. A hotel located within a five-minute walk of a tram stop can be just as convenient as one in the city center, often at a better price point. Check the hotel’s proximity to Lines 1, 2, 3, or 4 before booking.
5. Be mindful of university events and festivals. Montpellier is home to one of Europe’s oldest universities, and its calendar is packed with events that can cause room rates to spike. Major festivals, graduation periods, and trade fairs at the Sud de France Arena can lead to limited availability. If your dates are flexible, avoid booking during major events unless you are attending them yourself.
Montpellier rewards travelers who take the time to find a base that aligns with their personal rhythm. Whether you choose a historic hideaway behind an unassuming stone facade or a sleek contemporary tower with panoramic views, the right hotel enhances the city’s effortless charm.
