The hotel has great character, with stylish decor and thoughtful perks like complimentary coffee and soda in the lobby. However, taller guests should beware: the ceiling clearance in the room is extremely low. At 182 cm (roughly 6'0"), I had to walk bent over the entire time and still managed to bump my head more than a few times. It is a charming spot, but only if you are on the shorter side or don't mind ducking your way through your stay.

Love Rocky pop, brilliant hotel. Very clean, great staff. Brilliant bar with a great post ski vibe, and resturant food was great, lots of options from pizza and burgers, to more traditional French options, with provenance key, while being fairly priced. Ate 3 nights at the hotel. Room was great, but lacked seating due to the quirky style hence only 4 star. It's nice to have a sit down and a cup of coffee or glass of wine. There is no tea or coffee making facilities nor fridge in the room, but still and sparkling water along with tea and coffee machine located in reception. This would not stop us staying again as public areas made up with seating, but it's a busy hotel if you want peace. There is some lovely outdoor space, but not suitable in the winter. Location is 15 min by car to chamonix and 7 to Les Houches ski drop-off. Hotel parking was free and there is a ski shop onsite for convenience. Highly recommend.

Our room on the first floor was clean but small for a couple with a toddler. the temperature was too hot with the blanket and too cold without. Unfortunately although we really enjoyed the restaurant’s pizzas!! and the hotel’s attention to families with kids (kids corner and playground), we didn’t sleep well during this trip because of the temperature issue and the noise coming from the road. (3 nights during Easter)

This was a fun, funky place to stay while skiing the Chamonix valley areas. The room was nice and quiet and the bed comfortable. Nice shower with plenty of hot water. Their breakfast is overpriced, but the staff is helpful and friendly. There is a bus stop meters from the front door making it very convenient to get around. I would recommend this place

This is a nice hotel that's a bit outdated and quite dark. The room was adequate but a little bit old while the bathroom felt modern and clean. There are a few nice spots to lounge inside and outside of the hotel but in April there weren't that many people to have a conversation with. I was disappointed with the breakfast. European breakfasts are big and this was a little bit on the lower quality side. Still, much better than any typical American hotel breakfast but I would say below European standards. Staff was super friendly and helpful with all room related things plus giving me advice about the local region. Overall this is a good quality hotel but I was expecting a little more for the price paid.

Accommodation was very basic and in dire need of a refresh, but the rooms were clean along with linen and towels. Bathroom looked to have been modernised more recently and shower was great. Sink was too small and practically had to head butt the wall to wash your face. Staff were friendly, helpful and the bar had a good atmosphere. Kitchen was closed on the Tuesday and Wednesday so we never had a chance to eat there but reports from other patrons was that the food was good and reasonable priced. Breakfast again was very basic but suited our needs and was help yourself. The hotel is about a 20 min walk to town centre but there are bus stops just outside, bus we wanted was every 30 mins. We got a good deal and personally it was value for money and met our needs.

Clean, bssic rooms in a facility that’s somewhere between a hostel and a budget hotel. unfortunately we didn’t sleep well because of noise from the restaurant and bar downstairs. The building is old and not very soundproofed. Bring earplugs and maybe a white noise app on your phone. The staff that we encountered, all in the restaurant, were generally friendly and helpful. The staff I spoke to over email were also helpful and replied quickly. But there’s nobody at the front desk on a regular basis. There is a luggage storage area which you can access with a code, and a self-serve breakfast option in the morning consisting of cereal, bread, jam, coffee etc. Nothing fancy but it’ll get you started. It’s a decent option in a hostel-type environment for people in need of a more-affordable place to stay who don’t mind some background noise. if you’re a light sleeper, or just want something a little more comfortable, consider a nearby hotel.

Vert Lodge - Rooms, Bar & Restaurant offered a very pleasant stay with excellent hospitality throughout my visit. The room was comfortable and clean, and I especially appreciated the air freshener inside the bathroom, which made the room feel fresh and well maintained. The self-service breakfast was very good, with a nice variety and an easy setup. The self check-in and check-out process was smooth and convenient, making the stay very comfortable. The location is also great — very close to the bus station and facing the beautiful Mont Blanc scenery, which made the experience even more special. Overall, a very enjoyable and recommended place to stay in Chamonix.
Anja Rist★★★☆☆
Mainly commenting on the restaurant: We have been going there since years but were very disappointed tonight. Now self-service on bar and food to be ordered online but no options to change anything if you have an allergy or so. So we had to catch a waiter and got then the meal in 3 steps: First burgers, 10 min later (after several reminders) the kids menu und 5 min later fries and salad. We had to find and get ketchup and napkins ourselves. Really? And the prices did not get reduced though they save now on the staff… Food was good though.
Gareth Gilbert★★★★☆
Booked this place at the last minute as our other accommodation informed us they had bedbugs - obviously a common problem in Europe. Location was good, bus goes right past the door and the train station is about 5 - 10 minute walk away. Breakfast was basic but good, help yourself so no shortage. The room was fine no issues. We ate in the restaurant nearly every night, good value. A lot of the complaints seem to be about the building, it's a 150 years old so what do you expect? Staff were helpful, self check in which worked fine. It's a perfectly good place as long as you're not one of these moaners who what to pay bottom dollar and get 5 star service. I would happily stay here again.

Highly recommend for people on a budget. Its a cute lodge with good amount of rooms, nice comfortable bed and very secure overall. This was a self serve type of hostel/ lodge so when I came I found my name pinned on the door alongside names of the other residents who were staying there. There were mostly solo travellers or pairs/ groups of friends from all around the world. There were security codes for the main door, the room I was staying at and the storage room which was great. These codes were messaged well beforehand by the lodge (I booked through booking.com). So overall, it was quite secure. The room itself was a bit small, but it was spacious enough to house 4 people in it, with a good size bed, bit of a stiff mattress but clean bed linen. They also gave ear plugs and a towel which was great. The bathroom was also quite clean, though a bit small but again for the location, it was actually great. The location of the place is 10/15/20 min walks to the ski lift, intercity bus station and downtown so it can maybe get tiring after a whole day of activities but honestly its fine. The whole area is quite safe and very walkable. I mean its a bit stupid to say since we are in the mountains but the view and overall place is serene. Breakfast was all you could eat with good bakery items and overall nice food so that was great. The storage is for you to use even after you checkout, I believe for 24 hours, which came in clutch as my bus was late in the afternoon, so I just left my things there till my ride back. If you are a solo traveller or someone on a budget who values a nice good space to stay alongside the plethora of opportunities to talk to people from all around in a very good and affordable budget, Chamonix lodge should be high on your list.
Omid Ravan★☆☆☆☆
The room was extremely small, and the bathroom hygiene was below an acceptable standard. The corridors were also very narrow, making the hotel feel cramped. It seems the property has maximized the number of rooms to increase revenue at the expense of guest comfort. Customer service was also disappointing. There was no response when I called with questions, and no one replied when I tried to contact them through the website chat. Overall, I would not recommend staying here due to the poor cleanliness, lack of space, and unresponsive customer service

Excellent place! The best ho(s)tel I've been to. Totally recommend, high standard at a relatively low price. Kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Big fridge and a freezer. Free breakfast is great, available as self service and it is just enough to satisfy morning hunger. There's a big terrace, sauna, free parking for circa 4 cars. Check in was smooth and clear. Rooms are cozy and clean, towels available, owners leave a pack of earplugs and a cookie. There are at least 2 bathrooms, with toilet paper supply and a hairdryer. WiFi works well, there's even a place to work and chillzone with fireplace. Books and board games available. Informative notes are left all over the place. No complains on the communication with the owners, they were ready to help. The place is located 15 minutes walk from the city center.

We loved our time here. The room was a little bit small, but it was enough space and very clean and comfortable. The staff were really nice and the breakfast was available 24 hrs! And was delicious. We would come back!

Great hostel and a very welcoming host! Spend a night here in October, the whole atmosphere was just very warming. Met some pretty cool people during my stay too 🙂 Booked in a 4 bed dorm-room, everything was really clean, from the bedsheets to the provided towels. The breakfast is quite simple but good and you can get hot chocolate, coffee and tea all day, as much as you want! It’s also on of the most affordable stays in Chamonix, so great for backpackers. Definitely gonna come here again in a couple of months 🏔️

Perfection! If you are looking for a lovely authentic French ski experience- this is it. Before traveling here we had looked at the higher end hotels and boy, are we glad we stayed at this gem. This hotel has such charm and beauty. The staff is so kind and accommodating. This hotel is located at the end of a busy square right in front of a church- nice and quiet. The views are to die for. Make sure to secure a room with a little terrace in the front of the hotel. Sipping coffee while watching the clouds roll over Mont Blanc with the church bells ringing in the square, is the stuff dreams are made of. There is a little brasserie downstairs that is open daily and you are 30 seconds from all the restaurants in the heart of town. The ski bus is within 5 minutes walking. Otherwise you are at the base of Brevent hill and 10 mins walking to Aiguille de Midi lifts. The hotel is clean, spacious and is a true Chamonix experience. Stay here!

My partner was diagnosed with cancer which meant we couldn’t travel. Despite weeks of notice this hotel stuck by its cancelation policy. This was the only hotel/air BnB out of 3 months of travel booked across France, Switzerland and Italy. All other places accommodated and waived their policies. They have every right to stick to policy and I also have every right to review them.

Very friendly staff. Comfortable room. No air con. Very good breakfast. Lovely view of the mountains

Great little hotel in the middle of everywhere you want to be in a Chamonix. Comfortable and clean rooms, a good petit dej, fabulous staff. A lot of locals hang out at the café in front.

"Bad customers service..." I initially left a short review out of frustration. However, to clarify: As the owner of Nirvana Dream restaurant in Paris, I always make sure to understand the conditions before confirming any reservation. That is why I contacted your establishment by phone and email prior to booking to gather the necessary information. As mentioned, I booked the room 3 days before arrival and had to cancel 24 hours later due to unexpected professional obligations. I fully understand that your cancellation policy requires 15 days’ notice. However, while no particular conditions are required to make a reservation, the cancellation terms appear extremely strict, especially in cases of genuine emergency. What disappointed me most was receiving a phone call on the booking date, despite having cancelled the booking few days earlier. This indicates a lack of internal communication and coordination. For these reasons, my experience regarding customer service was not satisfactory...

Lovely staff who couldn’t do enough to help us. They even provided us with a kettle and fresh milk. The bed was comfy, there was lots of hot water and everything was clean. A good breakfast. Unfortunately, on our side of the hotel, the hotel next door is now a busy building site, not la Vertical’s fault, and Friday night is teenager gathering night to carouse at the moon until the police arrived about midnight to chase them away. Thursday night was dead quiet.

There was big construction near the hotel, but we were not informed in advance. It also did not feel like good value for the price. If you have a large suitcase, please note that you must carry it up the stairs to reception. There is no elevator or easy ramp, and the staff did not offer any help. The location was good and the staff were friendly, but I would probably choose a different hotel next time.
Andy Holak★★★★★
We have had groups stay at Hotel La Vertical several times and we love the location close to the lift we use to get up to Le Brevent. The staff, particularly the front desk, are extremely helpful, friendly and go out of their way to make sure our stay is comfortable. We will definitely be staying here again.
Dave Levy★★★★★
This was a great stay. The location was great for my short stay and in walking distance of the places/stations I wanted to visit. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The room was reasonably sized and bright at the time of year I visited. They were also helpful and offered to help me get to Chamonix from the airport.

We had a very unfortunate experience at this hotel in August 2025. During our stay, we discovered a severe bed bug infestation in our room. We have photo and video evidence of this, which we will upload with this review. When we reported the issue, the hotel suggested that the bed bugs could have come with us in our luggage or from other resent guests, even though we found both adult bed bugs and nymphs visibly crawling in cracks in the walls. This clearly indicates a long-standing infestation that could not possibly have originated from us. After looking through other reviews, we also noticed that previous guests have reported similar experiences and received the same dismissive response. While the hotel arranged alternative accommodation for our final night after our request, the infestation forced us to cancel onward travel plans, book extra nights at another hotel, and pay for professional decontamination of our belongings to prevent further spread. The hotel initially offered us compensation of 300 €, but later refused to honor this, referring us instead to Booking.com. Booking.com however provided a refund from half the total cost for the La Verticale stay. This was an extremely stressful experience. Bed bugs should never be present in a hotel room, and the way the hotel handled the situation left us very disappointed. Guests deserve transparency and future travelers should be aware that this appears to be a recurring problem at this property.

Our stay was great. For the four days we spent in the hotel we couldn't find anything to justify the cheap price of the hotel. Everything felt well above average. They cleaned our room daily without our asking, they had a great care for us every time and everyone was so kind answering our questions. Lastly the location was great. It is right in the middle of the town center for sightseeing and for skiing it is the closest hotel to the Chamonix Center Bus Stop. We recommend it to everyone we will definitely choose this place if we come again

The building has been renovated and the rooms are quite nice overall. However, some small details could be improved, like doors that do not close properly and some air drafts in the room (see photos). There is a spa available, but you need to book a 1-hour slot in advance at the reception. The spa includes a shower, a sauna and a hammam. Both the sauna and hammam are small, suitable for about 3–4 people each. What left me a bit disappointed was the attitude of some staff members at the reception, who were not always very welcoming and did not greet guests when arriving or passing by. Overall, it is a good hotel with a nice location, but with some details and service aspects that could be improved

First time in Chamonix and this hotel was perfect for us. The staff is INCREDIBLY kind and we especially appreciated them filling our water bottles everyday! The room was very clean and our river view with Mont Blanc in the background was breathtaking. Highly recommend.

Had a great stay at Hotel Lyret, Chamonix. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent. The hotel has a convenient luggage holding/waiting room, a nice bar, and a lovely swimming pool. The view from the room was beautiful, and there is a river right next to the hotel, which makes the surroundings even more enjoyable. Overall, a comfortable stay with great service and facilities. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this hotel is an absolute gem. It’s a little isolated, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. The surroundings are incredibly serene, making it the perfect place to slow down and unwind. I could easily imagine spending an entire day here—enjoying a drink on the outdoor terrace, taking a leisurely walk through the nearby forest, or simply sitting by the water and soaking in the tranquility. The room was cosy, comfortable, and well equipped. The balcony came with two chairs, making it a lovely spot to relax, and the room also had plenty of hangers and a heater, which were especially useful after a day of hiking. One tip: head down early for dinner if you want the BBQ meat—it was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed it so much that I ended up ordering two portions for myself. The staff were also warm, welcoming, and friendly throughout my stay, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you’re looking to disconnect, recharge, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Like other reviews, yes the toilets are small, but functional. A room can home 8 people, theres like 4 bunk beds. there is also a hook beside each bed to hang your towel. If you can i suggest taking the top bunk. There are cardboards by the door for you to store your bags if you need. They clean the room everyday, because there was one day i was back early and they happen to be cleaning. The wifi suck shit, it disconnect itself. There is no ventilation in the room if you dont open the door. If you choose to walk from chamonix, it took me 30mins, taking a train from les praz and walk 10mins or a bus at door step is a better choice if you are carrying heavy backpack. They provide towel and a small bottle of soap only. I would say for the price, its worth it. The view outside is also nice, the place is also clean. The shower have cold and hot water

Beautiful 3 star hotel. Great customer service . Comfortable clean room . 4 stars because of the need for bit more cleaner bathroom. Shower door is not working properly and grouting needs cleaning. Otherwise I would give 5 stars . Away from the town and no in house restaurent. But can purchase snacks and alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Great breakfast. Close to bus stop and 5 mins to the town. If you need a restaurent its a bit of a walk.

My fiancée and I stayed here to celebrate our engagement and booked the romantic package, which was excellent! The staff treated us with a very nice bottle of Champagne and macarons which we enjoyed on the balcony of our private room with a great view of the mountains. The breakfast was great and included freshly baked croissants, pains au chocolat, and baguettes. Thank you to the staff! We would definitely stay here again next time we’re in Chamonix. Also seems like a great spot to stay on the edge of town for skiers/hikers/adventurers.

Had a great stay at L’Arveyron Chamonix! The receptionist was very friendly, helpful, and informative. When I asked for hot water to cook rice, they kindly gave it for free, which I really appreciated. They also explained the bus routes in detail when I was confused. The room was clean and comfortable, and the view from the room was beautiful. The location is also convenient, close to the bus stop, making it easy to get around. If I come back to Chamonix, I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

1.The house view is good. 2.But, checkout time is 11AM, we was asked to check out early on 10:10AM because he want to clean his house. (other visitor were the same) 3.Service isn't good, boss is very serious. Boss want customers to match his time to eat breakfast (8:30AM), most traveler will go out early to go hiking or visiting in the mountain, breakfast is very simply, if you want to ask early, only cereal. 4. Room smells not good, we couldn't sleep well these days. 5. for other service and equipment, I don't want to say something, you can come to experience. you will feel happy if you seem it as a basic expensive hostel. This is the first one that we ever live and meet like this kind of hotel and boss. We will come to Chomonix again, but we won't come to this hotel again.

The chalet is great for its value. Although the main living area is a bit cluttered and dirty at times (though Phil and Michelle clean it daily!), the rooms are clean and well set up. Breakfast was nice as well. The only issue we had was that it was pretty noisy at night, but our room was right by the stairwell so maybe it is better in other rooms. If you’re a light sleeper just being ear plugs.

Loved our stay at Chalet Les Frenes! Would definitely stay here again. Phil is an excellent host! Super helpful, great chats and has loads of knowledge of all the hikes and biking in the area. The atmosphere in the chalet is really nice, we met a bunch of lovely people staying here. It's quiet and clean and the chalet is truly at the base of the glacier- the views are stunning!! Breakfast is included and they were even kind enough to put an early breakfast in the oven for us when we had to jet off early. Thanks for a great stay!

This is a very wonderful place to stay, hosts are really nice and they speak English & French. This place has all the facilities and rooms are neat and clean, it has a kitchen (just in case you want to cook by yourself). One can spend his/her whole day looking at Mont Blanc from the balcony while having coffee (beautiful view). Bus stop is right outside the premises and train station is within 10mins of walking distance. I strongly recommend this place to spend holidays.
Clayton Silva★★★★★
Stayed a total of 5 nights here after planning on only staying one because my brother and I ended up enjoying it so much! Chamonix is beautiful and the chalet is close but still outside the town and has a million dollar view of the mountains on both sides! Phil (the host) was great and super helpful! The only con is the spotty WiFi but with a view like this one, you won't even miss it! Hope to visit again soon!

Great hotel! We stayed there twice during our TMB trip. The rooms are spacious and modern. The hotel is very clean, and the employees and the reception team are wonderful and very helpful! We had a wonderful stay at Plan A. The hotel offers incredible views and is ideally located—just a short walk from food places, coffee shops, the cable car station, and even the coach station, which is only one minute away. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and made sure we had all the information we needed. The food was very nice, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel is peaceful and relaxing—perfect for a family stay. We especially loved the cozy reading corner with tables, chairs, and games. There are lovely restaurants nearby, including a nice Indian restaurant called Annapurna. The location is also great for exploring nearby destinations like Annecy and Geneva using public transport. A big plus was that they kindly allowed us to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out, which made our trip much easier. Overall, I would highly recommend this place. We truly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back for a longer visit.

We did not stay so cannot talk about the rooms but I can talk about how the staff is amazing. My wife and I were waiting for the bus and the heat caused her to have an intense headache/migraine. The staff was able to bring us into a semi-private room in the back, they got us cold water, reopened the kitchen for us to make us food and went above and beyond to make my wife feel better. Ok our next trip to Chamonix, we know exactly what to stay.

Was great for our family of 4. We got the suite with pull out couch. Pull out sucked but my two teenagers put the mattress on the floor and it was great. What a view, good breakfast, nice staff, all great for our adventure week!

I had a really lovely stay at PlanB. It was my first time solo travelling and I was a bit nervous from the offset! But having friendly faces help make everything run smoothly was excellent! My room was very nice and clean. It was also quiet and all round very comfortable. Ski lockers were also really handy and accessible! I would definitely stay here again and I’ll be recommending here to my friends and family!

Simply Stunning & perfect location. This place is just beautiful, and very handy to shops and restaurants, yet a nice distance from the noisy bars. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and given a nice family room which was ideal for us with a balcony looking over the river and views of the mountains. This Hotel has an amazing bar and lounge area, and a massive shout-out to Sam on the bar and reception who was great to chat with, and made us feel so very welcome. Sam is a credit to the hospitality industry and clearly enjoys her job. Our room was very comfortable, and the bathroom clean - what I really liked was the separate toilet and bathroom. A nice gesture was the complimentary selections of food in the afternoons. If I can find my way back to Chamonix in the future, I would stay in this hotel again - without hesitation.

It was my first time ever in France. The receptionist was really nice and helpful, and I thank you for what you've done. I got in a room with Mont Blanc view which was very memorable. And location wise, it's near to the city center, there's nearby bus station as well as cafes to sit down and enjoy your hot chocolate or coffee with great view. I would recommend anyone visiting Chamonix to stay here. One thing to improve, for the breakfast maybe figure out better ways to ask for room number before eating not while eating.

Excellent location. The hotel is situated in the centre of the town, shops, restaurants, cable cars, train and bus stations are a walking distance. Staff are friendly, professional and always available. The breakfast is very good with a wide variety of sweet and savory choices. Should we decide to go back we would not book the same apartment for four adults. The bedroom in the basement had no natural light and was very stuffy. Although there was a door and a small window in the room, these were locked and covered with blinds. The apartment only had one shower room (with no WC) located in the basement. The only WC was on the ground floor, next to the kitchen/living room with the sofa bed. Rather an uncomfortable set-up for four adults. Furthermore, the WC had no hand washing facility, therefore whoever used it was obliged to wash their hands in the kitchen sink.

What truly set this hotel apart from the rest was the staff. The front desk team was incredible; despite being constantly busy, they never hesitated to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Our room was perfectly situated beneath Mont Blanc and within walking distance of all the top sites in Chamonix. We loved sleeping to the sounds of the Arve River and enjoying wine and cheese on our balcony. Rick Steves was right, this place is a gem. A special thank you to Amber and Sam for being so accommodating and making our stay truly memorable for our 10th anniversary.

We stayed at Hotel de L'Arve at the end of our TMB hike. It was the perfect location, not too far from the train station and just a short walk to great bars and restaurants. Our room was large, comfortable and the perfect place to unwind after our epic trip. Breakfast was good, and the staff certainly looked after us. Highly recommended.

We stayed in this ibis during the last week of July and start of August. From the moment we entered, we were met with incredibly friendly staff. We were a family of 5 people, with an autistic child too, and we al managed to fit comfortably into 1 family room. All the staff members were very kind and helpful with all our queries. The hotel is just next to a mountain, which led for great views from the balcony when we woke up. Another thing to highlight was the great breakfast, there were many options for us to eat every morning. Around 5 mins walk from our hotel, there was a cable car to the top of a mountain which had some great views. Otherwise, this hotel is only a 10 min drive from Chamonix town. Overall, this is a great hotel for people visiting Chamonix and Mont Blanc.

This is our third stay at the Ibis in Les Houches. We didn't ski Les Houches this year, we drove round to Megeve and Les Contaminnes as the snow was better. We stayed for 3 nights to ski, we had a triple room for 2 adults and my 14 yr old daughter. The beds are super comfy. The housekeeping team do a great job keeping the rooms beautiful and stocked with fresh towels. the breakfast is ample and did the trick. All in all, excellent value. I asked for a bottle of tap water every evening on the way to bed and the hotel staff were always helpful and provided cold water and glasses. To make this hotel perfect - the rooms need more hooks (for ski gear) and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. This would make it a 10 for us 🙂

Stayed overnight on our way to Italy. The hotel is just 5 minutes from the motorway and 15 minutes to the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Friendly staff and a good selection of hot and cold items for breakfast. Very clean and newly decorated room. Beautiful view from our room and balcony. Car parking €15 a night or there is free parking 100 metres away. Pity the hotel restaurant was closed but we had splendid drinks in Le Copains D’abord and a good meal at Le Refuge, which was recommended by hotel staff.

Recommended hotel in Chamonix, Paris. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Room amenities include a TV, bed covers, amenities, towels, coffee, tea, and creamer. Breakfast is delicious, especially the croissants. And if you get a room on the front, you can enjoy a mountain view.

This was one of our favourite hotels during our two-week trip through Switzerland, Italy and France. Very friendly and helpful staff. Le Faucigny is beautifully located, with plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy the stunning scenery. Our bedroom was small, but that wasn't an issue and was full of charm. The staff surprised us by asking if we would be using their free spa (the hotel name should have given it away! 😂). We gladly obliged and enjoyed relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna. We only wish we could have stayed a few more nights. Hey ho, all good things must come to an end, and we certainly ended our trip on a high. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. I booked 1 Classic Double Room for 3 nights and booked 1 Classic Double Room for 1 night on separate reservations. Both times we were placed in a very cramped room with a strangely sloped ceiling. Like other reviews have mentioned, it made it impossible to stand up in the shower, and you have to "shower" while sitting in the tub. There is no curtain so it can get messy. Definitely do not recommend for seniors or fall hazards! I'm in my 30s and average height 5'10". Just getting in and out of the tub was hard, needing to be hunched over, since the ceiling was sloped over the tub. I could not imagine my parents needing to get in and out of the tub like that. Just walking into and out of the door for the bathroom, I needed to duck my head. The ceiling slopes over the bed too, so I needed to duck my head getting in and out, which was tiring and easy to forget in the middle of the night. I get now why the reviews here are so polarizing. It seems like some other rooms do not have this problem, so those guests likely gave good marks. But 2 out of 2 times, we had this experience, so it is a bit luck of the draw. Since you have no control over what room you get, I would strongly recommend avoiding this terrible experience. Also, while the website lists the hotel as having air conditioning, in practice, it barely functioned, and it was extremely hot during the day and hard to sleep in at night. The beds were comfortable, and the location was very good. Reception was a mixed bag. There was a middle-aged man, who was always unfriendly in our interactions. When asked where we might be able to put our luggage to store temporarily, he pointed to a closet across from him and said, "You know how to open a door, right?" The other receptionists were extremely nice, and we hoped every time we needed to pass reception, it was one of the very friendly staff members and not the middle-aged man. In summary, go ahead and book here if you want to gamble on having a good experience or terrible one. But in my view, there are definitely better options out there. Buyer beware.

This hotel is in the perfect location for a ski holiday in Chamonix. Very close to the ESF school meeting point and just minutes from the restaurants and shops. We upgraded our room on arrival which was a good choice as the rooms here are small. The room was cosy and the bed was comfortable so we slept well. We were happy to hotel could accommodate a later checkout. Breakfast was simple - croissants very tasty. The spa was a plus and great for after a day of skiing - good sauna but the jacuzzi could be warmer.

Wonderful stay! We stayed a total of 15 nights here, and by the end it felt like we were leaving home. We brought skis and climbing gear, and even with a pile of stuff, the storage options made it very comfortable. Breakfast was terrific, I'll miss the croissants and coffee, and of course the spa was lovely to relax and meet other travelers. Staff were supremely friendly, always quick to offer suggestions or help get us where we needed to go. Location cannot be beat, in the perfect spot to walk everywhere but not along a noisy boulevard for peaceful nights. Would 110% recommend and stay again.

Smart Tips for Booking Cheap Hotels in Chamonix

Securing a great deal in Chamonix requires more than just sorting by "lowest price." The valley has a unique micro-economy driven by the ski season, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, and the summer climbing rush. Understanding how to navigate this landscape will help you lock in the best possible rate without ending up in a windowless room far from the action.

  1. Travel in the "Shoulder Seasons": Avoid the Christmas/New Year rush and February half-term if you want low prices. The best times for budget travelers are late November, early December, late March, and April. You often get excellent snow conditions in early December and late March without the premium rates, and the slopes are significantly quieter.

  2. Look Beyond the Town Center: While staying on Rue du Docteur Paccard is convenient, you pay for that location. Consider hotels in the surrounding hamlets like Les Bossons, Les Praz, or Argentière. These areas are connected by the free (with a Guest Card) train and bus system, offering a more local experience and often significantly cheaper room rates.

  3. Utilize the "Carte d’Hôte": Many hotels in the valley participate in the Guest Card program. When you check in, you receive this card which grants you free access to the local trains between Servoz and Vallorcine and the Chamonix bus network. By staying slightly outside the center and using this free transport, you can save hundreds of euros over a week.

  4. Book Direct for Added Value: While third-party aggregators are great for research, budget hotels often offer better deals on their own websites. Look for "direct booking" bonuses such as free breakfast, discounted ski passes, or waived city taxes. A quick phone call or email can sometimes secure a lower rate than what is advertised online.

  5. Prioritize Breakfast Inclusions: Food in Chamonix is expensive. A hotel room that seems slightly cheaper but lacks breakfast might actually cost you more in the long run. Look for rates that include a hearty breakfast. Mountain days require fuel, and eating a large meal at the hotel before you leave can save you €15 to €20 per person compared to buying breakfast at a café near the lift.

Finding the right place to stay is the foundation of a successful trip to the Alps. By choosing one of the affordable hotels listed above and employing these booking strategies, you can allocate more of your travel budget toward what really matters: lift passes, mountain gear, and unforgettable meals with a view.

Chamonix is a destination that belongs to everyone, from the world’s elite mountaineers to the weekend hiker. With a bit of planning and the right accommodation, you can experience the raw beauty of the Mont Blanc massif without the financial anxiety that often accompanies a luxury resort town.
