12 Best Asian Restaurants in Bayeux

Bayeux may be world-famous for its medieval tapestry and cathedral, but the city’s dining scene tells a much more modern and international story. While Norman cuisine—think cream, cider, and fresh seafood—still holds a proud place at the table, a growing number of kitchens are drawing inspiration from across Asia. From delicate sushi to fiery wok dishes, the range of options surprises many first-time visitors.

Travelers often assume that a small French city might offer only a limited take on Asian flavors. In reality, Bayeux benefits from a diverse community of chefs who bring authentic techniques and family recipes to their menus. Whether you are craving the umami depth of Japanese ramen, the fragrant spices of Thai curry, or the comforting familiarity of Vietnamese pho, you can find it within walking distance of the cathedral.

Dining out in Bayeux is also a practical pleasure. Many of the best Asian restaurants are conveniently located near the historic center, making them ideal for a lunch break between museum visits or a relaxed dinner after a day of exploring the D-Day beaches. Most offer takeaway options as well, which is perfect if you prefer to enjoy your meal back at your hotel or guesthouse.

Price and atmosphere vary widely, so there is something for every budget and occasion. You might choose a sleek sushi bar for a date night, a lively Thai bistro for a family celebration, or a modest noodle shop for a quick and satisfying solo meal. Local diners tend to be loyal to their favorites, and asking a resident for a recommendation often leads to a memorable meal.

It is also worth noting that many of these establishments adapt their menus to highlight local Norman ingredients. You might find sushi made with fresh scallops from the nearby coast or a duck breast infused with lemongrass and ginger. This fusion of local produce and Asian technique creates a dining experience that feels both familiar and exciting.

To help you navigate the choices, we have curated a list of standout spots that consistently earn praise for their food, service, and atmosphere. Each entry reflects a commitment to quality and a genuine passion for Asian cooking traditions.

From the outside not very conspicuous of its calibre. Once inside you notice the calm and peaceful atmosphere. This is a Korean/ Japanese type of restaurant. We ordered the Bibimbap. Both the spicy and the less spicy variant. Both were very nice and delicious. For dessert we had the mochi, which was all as expected. Soft texture, sweet but subtle. Tasted authentic. Toilet was also clean and very spacious. Can greatly recommend!

This was a great find, a lovely cozy restaurant/take away. The staff were super polite and friendly. Spoke good English and the food was absolutely delicious. Freshly made, the meat was tender and authentic taste. A must if you are in the area.

This is small and very good Asian restaurant. I highly recommend it. The bibimpap, Vietnamese rolls and dumplings were fresh made and delicious. It is a quick, fresh, and a good break from French cuisine.

This was such a great meal. We had been eating authentic French food for over a week and were craving a different cuisine and this was everything we needed. The couple who own the restaurant are incredibly nice, hospitable, and hard working. We had the dumplings (a family recipe the chef perfected), the shrimp spring rolls which were great, and the Beijing noodles - a great dish on a cold day. I highly recommend giving this spot a try. We called / emailed them to get a reservation, and I’d suggest you do the same because there are only a few tables!

Reached just before closing for takeaway and owner was very friendly and helpful in sharing food recommendations while preparing our food. Food turned out really good! The chicken spring rolls were huge and still tasty even after leaving in the cold for 45min. Beef noodles and pho were both delicious too. Highly recommended if you are craving some Asian food!

Don’t understand where they get the good reviews from. Food was not freshly made, nor particularly tasty. Can’t compare this to an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Service wasn’t really friendly and our cokes were lukewarm. Not coming here again.

Delicious family restaurant, authentic taste, great quality, and great customer service. Went twice during our time in Bayeux, both times were greeted by father and son, who were so kind and took their time to explain what their dishes had. The food was so filling, using only quality ingredients and the flavor was insane. Highly recommended!

Delicious Vietnamese food - the more take-away or eat in café style compared with its main restaurant. We were served by a lovely young man. I enjoyed the salad with curried chicken pieces after having the same thing yesterday at another restaurant in Caen. It was very tasty though more expensive and a smaller quantity than the one there though great nonetheless.

My husband and I were in Bayeux to visit the local tourist sites, and to our surprise, we happened to come across this vietnamese resturant. I am from Vietnam so obviously I wanted to know if this was an authentic vietnamese resturant or just in name only. I was very impressed with the authenticity of the food. The young man running this small resturant was very knowledgeable, and highly skilled concerning vietnamese food. The resturant was very clean, orderly, with very nice decor. I ordered Bun Ga ( egg roll) and Cha Gio( noodles with chicken), both were prepared superbly and the taste was delicious. The texture of the skin on the egg rolls was perfect, definitely handmade and authentic. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our food! I highly recommend to any visitor to Bayeux, to go to this restaurant and enjoy some delicious food, in a very pleasant atmosphere at a very reasonable price.

Vegan?! Well, technically it has. But- it’s an afterthought of other dishes. It’s pre-prepared, refrigerated and reheated. Small amount of noodles with a couple small veggies. Salty and… that’s it. Bland and lazy. Pitiful excuse for a veggie/vegan “meal.” Waste of time and money. Our friends enjoyed the chicken dishes (only one realistic option aside from a ‘salad’ of lettuce and a token couple carrots) Would I return? Absolutely not. Embarrassed on behalf of the proprietor for pretending to offer vegan meals.

Excellent sushi in Bayeaux! Very friendly service, terrific menu with lots of options, combinations, etc. Many classic sushi items, often with a twist. Beautifully crafted, and 100% fresh. You will not be disappointed! Hint: get some to takeaway, and find a charming spot by the river and enjoy!

Quaint little sushi restaurant worth a stop in. The dining area only seats about 20-24 people so when it is busy you can expect somewhat of a slower service which is to be expected. The sushi was delicious and very reasonably priced. We ordered the "le grande" which was 32 pieces (from 4 rolls) and miso soup for 2 people and it was only 33 Euro. It was a complete menu with tons to choose from. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you're a fan of sushi I highly recommend this place.

It was so delicious and the ingredients were fresh. The service was great and very kind

Very good! Always nice to have a great sushi Place abroad. Well priced, little more expensive than we are used to, but worth your money! We only got do the take service which was great.

A wonderful dinner. Probably the finest sushi I've eaten. A small and cosy restaurant with excellent service. My daughter is vegan and we struggle to find many restaurants in France able to offer more than a green salad or chips, yet this was an ideal solution, with many options for her. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

We had a wonderfull time at this smal restaurant it was a lovley atmosphere and a kind old woman serving. The food was amazing ,portions were pefrectly sized, so you didn’t feel bloated and was fairly priced and it took some time but we would definetly recommend.
Welfi★☆☆☆☆
As others have said and I should have believed: the restaurant is one very old lady all alone. She has problems understanding what you order, and mind you we were there with people that could talk mandarin with here and it still was a hasle. Also it took 2 hours to get our main dishes. Also "special noodles" are packaged instant noodles. But I can't agree one review that said it was the worst curry. The curry chicken I had was good, I would only have wanted to get it about 1h30 earlier.

Wandering 5 minutes away from the cathedral in Bayeux to avoid the crowds, we found this authentic Chinese restaurant. It was very quiet, too quiet considering the food was excellent as was the service. If you need a break from pizza, crepes etc this might be a good choice.
Marge Malang★★★★☆
A nice break from all the cheesy and buttery dishes of Normandie. We ordered a noodle dish, hot and sour soup, spring rolls and a pork dish. All of them were tasty and felt homecooked. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Use GPS as the place is still a few minutes away from the Cathedral so you won't easily find it.
Sasa Swift★★★★☆
It’s an old looking Chinese restaurant, we were there around 8.30 pm and it was quiet on a Wednesday evening. No fuss service, selection of food is average but the taste is promising especially the ginger beef, wanton soup and even pork chap suey. Didn’t like the sweet and sour pork. Fried rice was good too. Overall, it’s a decent Chinese restaurant in this part of the world, rating as a Chinese from Singapore

Tips for Enjoying Asian Food in Bayeux

Before you book a table or order takeaway, a little local knowledge can make your meal even better. Bayeux has its own rhythm, and understanding how and when to dine will help you avoid disappointment and make the most of every bite.

Make a reservation for dinner, especially on weekends and during the summer tourist season. Many popular spots are small and fill up quickly with both visitors and locals. A quick phone call or online booking earlier in the day can save you a long wait or a missed opportunity.

Ask about the lunch specials. Many Asian restaurants in Bayeux offer excellent value set menus during the midday hours. These often include a starter, main course, and sometimes a drink or dessert, giving you a full meal at a fraction of the evening price.

Do not hesitate to request spice adjustments. French Asian kitchens typically balance heat to suit a broad range of palates. If you prefer your Thai curry fiery or your Sichuan dish mild, simply let your server know. Most chefs are happy to tailor the dish to your taste.

Check the opening days carefully. Bayeux is a small city, and many independent restaurants close for one or two days each week, often Sunday or Monday. Planning your dining schedule around these closures will keep your itinerary stress-free.

Consider takeaway for a picnic by the river or in the Jardin Public. Several of the best Asian kitchens package their food beautifully for takeaway, allowing you to enjoy excellent sushi or noodles in a relaxed outdoor setting. Just be sure to order early during peak dinner hours.

Bayeux’s Asian restaurant scene is a reminder that great food knows no borders. The city’s historic charm and Norman hospitality blend seamlessly with the bold, comforting flavors of Asia, creating meals that satisfy both adventurous eaters and those seeking a taste of home. Whether you are here for one night or one week, taking the time to explore these kitchens will add a delicious layer to your visit.
