12 Affordable Places to Eat near Les Invalides

Les Invalides is one of the most visited landmarks in Paris, drawing history lovers to Napoleon’s tomb and the sprawling Musée de l’Armée. After spending hours walking through gilded domes and military courtyards, hunger tends to arrive quickly. The area surrounding the 7th arrondissement is often associated with high-end brasseries and embassy dining, but that does not mean you need to overspend for a satisfying meal.

The neighborhood between École Militaire, Rue Cler, and the Seine hides a surprising number of affordable restaurants, bakeries, and casual counters. Whether you want a flaky croissant, a hearty crêpe, or a warming bowl of pho, you can find it within a short walk of the esplanade. The key is knowing which streets to explore and which menu formulas offer the best midday value.

Many local workers, students, and tour guides rely on the lunch specials around Rue Saint-Dominique and Avenue de La Bourdonnais. These fixed-price menus often include a starter and main course or a main course and dessert for under twenty euros. Eating affordably near such a prestigious monument is entirely possible if you avoid the overpriced tourist terraces directly facing the main entrance.

For travelers, saving money on food means more budget for museum tickets and river cruises. For locals, these spots provide dependable weeknight options when cooking feels like a chore. The best affordable restaurants in this district combine French tradition with international influences, reflecting the diverse crowd that passes through the area daily.

This guide focuses on sit-down meals, quick bites, and bakeries where you can eat well without a formal, expensive reservation. We have selected places that consistently deliver quality ingredients, friendly service, and honest prices. You will find options suitable for families, solo travelers, and couples looking for a casual lunch or early dinner.

All of the following addresses are located within a 15-minute walk of Les Invalides. We have prioritized establishments with clear pricing, generous portions, and authentic flavors. Whether you are craving a classic jambon-beurre sandwich or a steaming plate of pasta, there is a budget-friendly table waiting for you.

Here are the most reliable and affordable places to eat near Les Invalides right now.

Lovely spot with great service near the Eiffel Tower. Staff were very friendly and food was very good. We had salmon quiche (special of the day), steak au poivre, and tiramisu (average) and creme brulé (pretty good) for dessert.

We were looking for a place to eat at 5pm with little notice and Gluten Free options. This place is great. The food was delicious. The waitstaff was pleasant despite the 90* F plus temperatures and spoke English. I would definitely recommend!

We wanted to eat some deserts and have some soft drinks. They welcomed us warmly and they served a very delicious crème brûlée. The vanilla mâcha was also very nice. Everyone eating there seemed to be very happy. So, I will be back for the main course next time 🙂

Excellent cafe a few blocks from Rue Cler and the Eiffel Tower. Ate here twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. Both my wife and I had the daily specials at both meals. Great food, great setting, and personable staff.

Friendly service who spoke English and was forgiving of my terrible attempts at French while still letting me try! The food was fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced, especially compared to other restaurants just a few steps away.

Easily one of the best Neapolitan pizzas I've had! The crust and flavor were on point. The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant has a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!

Small cozy Italian restaurant in Paris with a warm, welcoming feel. The food is fresh and full of flavour, especially the pasta which stands out. Service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere makes it a nice spot for a relaxed meal. Great little find if you’re in the area.

Amazing food, quaint atmosphere. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Loved the mista salad, ravioli, risotto with scampi, Margherita pizza with burrata cheese and limoncello spritz. Highly recommend

The staff is amazing - very friendly, great conversations and wonderful food. We hopped into this place on a rainy day, to enjoy a warm meal! We had the Linguini Bolognaise, Linguini Carbonara and Pistachio Tiramisu. We would definitely come back again! Thank you / Merci Beaucoup!

Nice little spot serving the most authentic and tasty italian cuisines. My wife and I visited Gusto late evening, and what a great decision it was. We ordered Pizza Burrata and Penne Pollo, and after our first bite, we simply said to each other that this is the best we had till time. Highly recommended!

I had a really good experience here overall. The service was decent and about what I expected, nothing over the top but perfectly fine and it didn’t take away from the experience at all. The food was very fresh across the board and thoughtfully prepared. We ordered the Duck Foie Gras, Escargot, French Onion Soup, and Beef Carpaccio. The carpaccio stood out for how fresh and clean it tasted. The French onion soup was a bit on the milder side, but it had a natural, less processed flavor compared to what I’m used to in the U.S., which I appreciated. The escargot was also very fresh, and the sauce in each shell complemented it really well. The highlight for me was the Duck Foie Gras. It had a rich, slightly fermented, salty and creamy flavor that was incredibly enjoyable and well balanced. Overall, the flavors here lean more subtle, which may not fully match my Asian palate, but the quality and freshness of the ingredients really shine through. It’s a fantastic spot, and I would definitely come back the next time I’m in Paris.

We had a really wonderful dining experience at Le Petit Cler! A big thank you to the Bangladeshi manager there—he was so kind and warm. He personally guided us through the menu and helped us pick the best Parisian dishes for our meal, that suits our taste pallet, which made our family feel so welcome and cared for. The food was super fresh and prepared with a lot of care. We tried four dishes: - Warm Goat Cheese Salad: This was the absolute star of the meal! The cheese was nicely toasted on top and soft, rich, and creamy inside. It went so well with the crispy potatoes, fresh tomatoes, and green salad. - Cod Fish with Ratatouille: The fish was fresh, soft, and flaky, and it paired really well with the rich, stewed vegetable ratatouille. - Baked Eggs in Tomato Sauce: Served sizzling hot in a small iron pan with fresh greens and parmesan cheese. It tasted light, healthy, and felt like a nice, home-cooked meal. - Grilled Chicken with Baked Potato: The chicken pieces were tender and well-spiced, served with a big foil-wrapped potato and tasty side sauces. And for dessert, the Crème Brûlée was simply to die for! Perfectly crispy caramel on top and smooth, sweet custard underneath—we absolutely loved it. Since we are used to stronger Indian flavors, the food here is on the milder and lighter side, but you can really taste the pure quality and freshness of every single ingredient. With such great food and such a friendly manager, this place made our Paris trip very special. We would love to visit again!

Great little restaurant on the beautiful Rue Cler. It’s a popular spot with both locals and tourists, and the atmosphere is lively without feeling too crowded. I ordered the faux filet with a pint of blond beer. The food was good, although I asked for the steak medium and it arrived well done. I was quite hungry, so I still enjoyed it and finished the meal. The service was friendly and efficient. The waiter was very accommodating and even helped me charge my phone, while the host was welcoming and pleasant. The prices are reasonable too, I paid around €30 for dinner, which I think is good value for the location. They have happy hour between 16-19 hours and drink prices were really nice. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice meal on Rue Cler.
Julia Vitullo-Martin★★★★★
Amiable, charming place with great service and good food on the remarkable Rue Cher, which you should stroll down at least once in life. There were six of us, an awkward number, but they quickly moved tables so we would fit happily. We arrived at 6:30 to find that Happy Hour lasted another 30 minutes. Order your wine quickly, we were told. We’ll pour a double glass. It was huge. We had the cod, beautifully prepared, a croque monsieur, a croque madame, and pasta. All good.
David Rodgers-Hamel★☆☆☆☆
I dont know how this place has 2000+ reviews and people on Reddit recommending it. We ordered the special of the day which was the filet mignon. It was tough and cutting across the grain did nothing. It didnt even look like a filet, it looked like a bavette someone decided to pass as a filet. (remember I said this was a filet mignon right?) My sirloin was grisly and overcooked. I asked for medium (since medium rare apparently isn't a thing here) and it was well done. The salad had stems and bulbs. The staff are forgetful, make mistakes when repeating the order you just gave them back to you. All in all, get yourself a baguette sandwich from a boulangerie and skip this tourist trap restaurant. We thought we did our due diligence with this spot but that was not the case. And if the restaurant sees this review, don't bother reaching out to ask us what went wrong, just read the review and stop cheaping out on your customers. Le petit bouillon offers a steak for 14.50€ and they dont butcher it like you just did ours. Oh and we had the chicken too. Mid as hell.

I ate here my very last night in Paris and it was the BEST food I had during my entire trip. Literally a 5 min walk from my hotel! I had the linguine bolognese and the mixed vegetables. 10/10! Service was fast and very nice! Small, intimate place and not super fancy but the food quality is what always matters! I didn’t have to add ANY salt/pepper. I even ordered a bolognese to go. AMAZINNGGGG🤤🤤🤤🍝🥗

Great Food and very friendly service on a rainy weeknight. The Burrata Salad, Diavola Pizza and Veal Saltimboca were all excellent. We would gladly visit again.
Richard Wong★★★☆☆
The salad with grilled vegetables was very good. The Chicken Milanese was good. The Pizza Primavera was average. The dough seemed like it was par baked and not made with fresh dough. The dough was not airy with bubbles in the cornichone like a proper Neapolitan pizza.

Ok… trying to be honest. After reading reviews google, came at 7pm on a Friday night with my family of 4. I have no idea where the wave of positive reviews came from. The food was ok but the atmosphere was suspect, we were the only ones there on a Friday night and the service acted like we were an inconvenience. The burrata appetizer was the highlight of the meal. Unable to make appeal spritz which was on menu. My daughters ordered one margarita pizza and one cheese pizza. Out came one cheese pizza and one ham and mushroom pizza (not sure how that is confused and there was not a language barrier). I set the wrong one on table next to us and when waitress came back she moved it back to our table and said that we can have it in addition to margarita pizza that they were making. Well out came another cheese pizza and yeah we were charged for the wrong one as well. Pizza wasn’t bad, but definitely was not authentic Italian and second cheese pizza (was supposed to be margarita) came out with burnt crust to top things off. Been in Paris for a few days and first not great experience. Will be a humorous memory for my family but word of caution for others who may read all of the great reviews expecting something more.

Had a really good time at Le Den, reasonable prices, we ordered a lasagna and a cannelloni. a latter dish was slightly dry, I’d like for it to have more sauce. But their cream brûlée was absolutely amazing with a hint of orange notes. Would definitely recommend! Will come back when I’m in Paris:)

My family enjoyed a very tasty meal with friendly and professional service from our waitress (I believe her name was Kaiuah, apologies if I’ve misspelled it), who took great care of us. The restaurant is spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful views over Paris, making the experience even more special. The food was delicious, especially the rib-eye which was melting in the mouth. We also enjoyed the wine recommendations, and the fresh homemade mille-feuille. A great atmosphere for a relaxed meal — highly recommended, and we would happily return (we ate there 3 times in the course of a week for lunch and dinners).

Kaouthar was our server! Not only is she gorgeous but such amazing customer service! Such a great personality! Loved the food! Fantastic salads, steaks and desserts
Awatea Strother★★★☆☆
We got the salmon tartare and onion soup for starters. The salmon was pretty bad but the soup was fine. However, the whole reason we came was for the steak, and that did not disappoint! Overall the service was also fine but the location and atmosphere is pretty good.

Dropped in to have breakfast. Croissant and baguette were really good, the rest was just ok. I'd say a little over priced but I guess it is in a prime location near the Eiffel Tower. Found the staff a little rude. Clearing my plates while I was still eating, like he wanted us out (they were not busy).
Juliana Jaen★☆☆☆☆
Charged by location, worst food ever. My companion orderer deviled eggs. The laziest eggs ever. Boiled eggs with a splash of mayonnaise. Not even the yolk mixed in a pasto with spices. I ordered the Croque-Monsieur, a you must try in Paris dish for cheese lovers. Well… the first attempt was carbon with extra grilled cheese. They agreed to re make it. The second attempt was a soggy bread, white on the bottom, carbonized on the edge and what apparently is brown cheese. See for yourself, I dare you to guess which one was attempt 1 or 2. Sadly i didn’t have much time in Paris and the food didn’t got better.

We had a quick lunch here, stopping by chance. We had two salads, which were flavorful and a good size each. A special mention for my warm goat cheese salad, so amazing! The server was very friendly and attentive despite the busy lunch hour.

Food is amazing, light and flavorful. Service is fast and gracious. The clientele was mostly non natives while we were here but it was peak tourist. I would not let that dissuade you from this restaurant at all. So good!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A wonderful Parisian dining experience in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The atmosphere is absolutely magical, with a beautiful olive tree growing through the dining room, warm lighting, elegant décor, and a cozy yet lively ambiance that makes you want to stay for hours. The food was excellent. We enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak with fresh seasonal vegetables, a delicious gratin, and a fresh burrata to start. Everything was prepared with quality ingredients and beautifully presented. The combination of great food, good wine, and an unforgettable setting made this one of the highlights of our trip to Paris. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic, charming Parisian restaurant with a unique atmosphere. We would definitely come back! ⭐️

Had a lovely experience here! The staff were really polite and accommodating, which made us feel welcome from the start. I had the lamb shank and it was incredibly tender and full of flavour—definitely one of the best I’ve had. My boyfriend went for the ribeye steak and really enjoyed it too. The atmosphere was great, with a really nice vibe throughout. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

We had the good fortune of finding this restaurant when we were near the Eiffel Tower. This place is a little off the beaten path but worth the extra steps. The atmosphere is casual. We ordered the French onion soup, Cod fish & chips and Southwestern Duck Confit. Everything was outstanding and seems to be made from scratch. It was by far the best meal we had in Paris during our 8 day stay. As soon as they brought our plates out there aroma of the food makes your mouth water. The soup was perfectly seasoned and had a generous amount of cheese and just the right amount of onions and croutons. The Duck Confit was tender, flavorful and cooked perfectly. It was accompanied by home fried potato wedges that were tender, crispy and seasoned well. The Cod fish & chips might be the best I’ve ever had. The crust was outstanding and the fish was tender flaky and fresh. The ketchup they had was surprisingly good…tangy, sweet and full bodied. I highly recommend eating here early in your trip so you can come back multiple times.

The escargots and duck confit were excellent. The rump beef was a bit tough, though. We ordered it medium, but it came out closer to well done.

The food was very good. I got a salad with grilled chicken - the portion is large, it’s tasty and filling, definitely enough to get as a whole meal by itself. The plat du jour deal was also great. Very filling and tasty. The staff was friendly. Good place to have lunch, but beware that it’s jam-packed and very loud as every centimeter is full of talking people

Croque monsieur and croque campagnard madame for lunch. Soooo good and excellent fries. Great service. And a bunch of good looking and nice staff. Jeremie was the man today.

Wonderful staff. They encouraged us to try new drinks, helped us explore new flavors and practice our French in a friendly atmosphere. This bar is also in a great location for sightseeing. They have a “French toast” dessert that is excellent and goes great with a coffee or cocktail.

A great find in the Saint Germain neighborhood! We happened upon this place after another restaurant did suit our needs. We were seated right away and the staff were friendly and attentive. They were accommodating of my husband’s allergies to nuts and peanuts. We started with the eggs and mayonnaise then I ordered the onion soup while my husband had the steak and fries. Everything was very tasty! The atmosphere was laid back and enjoyable. Definitely recommend!

You must visit this place when in Paris. Visited after leaving Musée d’Orsay. - great location. - even better atmosphere - all staff especially Nola were exceptionally friendly and patient with us. - my first French meal in Paris was everything I’d dreamt it would be. - the food, wine and service were without fault. - the prices were surprisingly very very reasonable especially as we had just considered a couple of other restaurants nearby and walked away. What a fantastic experience of Paris and their lovely hospitality. THANK YOU 🙏❤️

Café de l’Empire – a good lunch We stopped here for lunch and overall, we were happy with it. Good food, friendly and efficient service, and a pleasant Parisian atmosphere. Nothing spectacular, but everything was just as it should be. A good place for lunch while sightseeing.

We selected this place to grab a fast and reasonably priced dinner after coming off a long train ride. Pros: typical bistro menu (reasonably priced), very professional head of waitstaff, seating possibilities near windows. Cons: quality was not very good (fish overcooked, salad with few greens that wilt under the warm meat), you ate dining within 6 inches of your neighbor. It fulfilled my expectation of being a quick dinner but would not come back again.

I ordered duck and a dessert. Both were delicious. The portion of duck was really big. The service was great and the staff were very patient. The price is reasonable too. Highly recommend this place! A little incident: I left my power bank on the chair. Luckily, a nearby customer and a waiter helped keep it safe. I’m so glad I got it back. Thanks again to both of you ❤️

🕓 I visited Sorriso del Sole on Saturday 6 June 2026 in the evening. I was with three other people. This was my first visit. We stumbled across the restaurant quite by luck and it was meant to be. 🍽 The restaurant comprises of one small main dining area plus outdoor seating with plenty of tables with full table service. The restaurant was bright and clean. 🤗 The team were very friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 🍕 I enjoyed the Pepperoni pizza for my main course. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. 💷 The food was very good value for money, I paid around £18 for what was a large pizza plus a soft drink. ⭐️ Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Tourist trap. If you care about quantity over quality, this might be the restaurant for you. We ordered a risotto and a spaghetti dish which were both very overcooked. The risotto was very salty. Not worth it and I would not recommend.

Nice place, friendly staffs and cozy interior. We wanted to have something for the breakfast and went in. The prices are again on the higher side. We had a 'Omelette with Ham and Cheese', for €11 and a Croissant for €2.5 and Expresso for €2.1. The portions of the items was decent I must day. There is toilet available to use for paying customers, which is nice.

We went here on a recommendation from Rick Steves and it was probably the best meal in Paris we had over the past 8 days. The French duck with orange sauce was succulent, tender and the sauce was so delicious with just a little tang from the citrus. The avocado, salmon and citrus salad was unique and very tasty. The French lamb was tender and delicious as well. Desserts were top notch as well- crisp profiteroles with excellent vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, and the poached pear with caramel sauce and ice cream was sweet and superb. It was a 3 course prix fixe meal- a great value! Also- the Bordeaux wine choice was wonderful! Do not miss this lovely place- they concentrate on the food quality more than the ambience, so give it a try. You won’t be disappointed!

We only had 2 nights and we are so glad we ate here one. The food is amazing (best salmon I ever had and my husband loved the duck). Warm, friendly service! In the left bank and sooo worth it! The owner Regis is so engaging and we loved all the drawings customers have made on the walls. Enjoy!

We had the best evening ever! First of all the food was amazing. All Entries were great. For Mains, the lamb, the duck and the entre cote were all perfectly cooked. The Crème Brûlée as well as the tarte tartin were delicious and absolutely recommendable. The Service was outstanding and always mindful. Especially the warmhearted and humorous chef of the bistro. In terms of atmosphere, we are speechless. The little hang up paper skatches on the wall from past guests from across the world give a welcoming feeling no matter where you are from. The set up of the tables was great to talk to the other guests. The whole restaurant was really communicative to the guests to both sides of their tables. We meet some amazing people with great conversations! We can very much recommend this establishment! Thank you very much to the staff, team and chef for this wonderful meal and evening.

They are very helpful to make the reservation on the day. We had snails and onion soup for starter, duck confit and lamp for main, poached pear with salted caramel ice cream for dessert. All are delicious and the poached pear is absolutely a star!!

Tips for Eating Affordably Near Les Invalides

Finding a cheap meal in central Paris requires a little strategy, especially in a district known for government buildings and luxury apartments. These practical tips will help you maximize value without sacrificing the quality of your dining experience. By following local habits, you can eat very well for less than the price of a single museum audio guide.

Look for the “Formule” or “Menu du Jour” at lunch. Most restaurants offer a fixed-price lunch menu on weekdays that is significantly cheaper than ordering à la carte. These menus usually change daily based on market ingredients and provide the best price-to-quality ratio. Avoid dining at dinner when the same dishes can cost thirty percent more.

Step away from the main esplanade. The cafés with direct views of the golden dome charge a premium for their location. Walk just two or three blocks toward Rue Cler, Rue de Grenelle, or Avenue de Saxe. You will find smaller, independently owned spots where the prices drop noticeably and the food is often more authentic.

Embrace the French bakery lunch. A fresh baguette sandwich, a slice of quiche, or a savory croissant from a quality boulangerie costs under ten euros. Many bakeries have a small standing counter or a few stools where you can eat quickly. Pair your purchase with a drink from a nearby supermarket for an even cheaper meal.

Check the blackboard outside before entering. Restaurants in France are legally required to display their menus outside. Compare the prices of the set menus and check whether service is included. If a place does not show its prices, it is usually a sign that it is too expensive for a budget-conscious visitor.

Eat your main meal at lunchtime. Parisian workers often treat lunch as their biggest meal of the day, which means restaurants offer substantial, affordable plates before 2:30 PM. For dinner, opt for a lighter meal such as a crêpe, a salad, or a shared plate of cheese and charcuterie from a local market.

The area around Les Invalides rewards curious walkers who are willing to explore side streets rather than settling for the first visible terrace. A little planning around lunch hours and set menus can reduce your daily food budget by half while introducing you to the authentic rhythm of Parisian daily life. Even in one of the most elegant districts of the city, eating well on a budget is a skill that locals practice every day.

Whether you are visiting the Army Museum or simply passing through the 7th arrondissement, you now have a list of dependable, affordable options that respect both your palate and your wallet. Bon appétit.
