The place is amazing and really unique. Staff is very attentive, friendly and basically everything you can ask for. There is no vegetarian burgers on the menu but if you ask them they will make it specially for you with all the ingriedients you ask for. Prices are decent and food is just incredible. Definitely the best burgers we had in Peniscola so far! Highly recommend! Also, they will never let you leave without offering something on the house. 10/10, if you ever nearby this is a must go to place.

The artichoke was to die for, as fresh as it gets because is harvested in the area. The place is charming and the service is excellent. Went on a non-busy day and the food came out fast and right. I would suggest that they offer a fresh tinto de verano.

Traditional panadería that serves wonderful bocadillos! Service is fast and friendly. Bocadillos are suuuuuper crispy and tasty! We tried the one with grilled chicken and caramelized onion. Coffee, tea, wine and beer are available for sure 🙂 Prices are very affordable.
Karl Wester-Ebbinghaus★★★★★
Very good fresh bocadillos and the zumos natural es de naranja are pretty delicious and refreshing too. Prices are OK. We paid 13 euros for 2 bocadillos and 2 zumos. The area is a bit more expensive in general. A paid parking place is next. Cannot agree with the bad reviews the places were very cleaned. #RestaurantPiraten #LetsGuide
Melanie Cardozo★★★☆☆
Good cafe con leche, and the bocadillo was out in less than 10 minutes from ordering. However, they forgot lettuce in the fefito. But, the bacon and the bread were both very crispy and delicious, so that makes up for the small mistake. The prices are very affordable too. I would definitely come back to this little open air cafe

Atlas Adventured recommends breakfast here. Great spot to grab food. This was our go to location for breakfast during our time in Peniscola. Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich was simple yet delicious. Smoothies are fresh and tasty also. All food and drink prices were fair and affordable. Servers were nice. Restaurant was clean and food was made to order. Try it out during your visit to Peniscola

This was our go to place for coffee and breakfast while in Peniscola. Great coffee, and great food, and lovely staff. There are not many places open early for breakfast/coffee - but this place was one and the best we found. Thanks to all the staff - they also accommodated any requests we had - like the lemon crepe!
Paul Raymond Wood★★★★★
Fantastic cafe/bar… a little gem. You must try it. Better than the normal tapas bar. Great food freshly cooked to order… from Jan Les Moles👍👍👍
Fam. Makatita-Iglesias★★★☆☆
Small portions and expensive prices. Slow service. Some gluten free options but not very clear, ask well in advance. Taste was good.
Annette★☆☆☆☆
We waited 30 minutes until someone took our order (by going to the bar). We ordered 2 options from the brunch menu, the bread was not as describes a country bread but a slice of white bread! No yoghurt and the "fruit" comprised of few slices of banana and some "cereals". The juice was not as a fresh natural orange juice and the coffee tasted like the coffee machine should have been cleaned. We finally got our "food" served after 50! minutes of entering and at each 9.50 Euro I told when paying that we did not get the fruit and yoghurts as per menu (which I also pointed out when we got served but the waiter only said sorry I don't have) The bill was reduced to 15.50 euro which still felt like a rip off and totally waste of time and money. First time ever I rate 1 star. Not recommening this place at all

Great resturant, superb location along the castle wall. We initially went there for a drink, then we saw the amazing food being served so stayed for dinner. Fabulous seafood, well priced and service excellent. Would highly recommend.

Atmosphere excellent, sitting along the city wall, right outside the restaurant, oversees the harbour. With cooling sunshine and breezy wind, it's priceless. Foods were below average. It's a very small restaurant. Staffs were friendly and welcoming.

Me and my friends came here since the place had really good reviews but I assume they must have bought them because everything we had was mediocre at best and I’m pretty sure the veggie burger was made out of meat which was awful because my friend is a vegetarian. Also the regular burgers meat was definitely not just beef it was super weird it almost tasted like turkey or frozen. The only good thing is that they offered to take the veggie burger off the bill which is the only reason I gave it a two star.
VilmantasK★☆☆☆☆
⭐ 1/5 I ordered a burger with fries and had to wait 35 minutes for my food, even though there were only about 6 people eating in the restaurant at the time. The burger was nothing special and definitely did not justify the price. The quality and taste were average at best, and I expected much more considering the reviews and pricing. The waitress was also not particularly friendly or welcoming, which made the experience even less enjoyable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend eating here. The high rating is difficult to understand, and it almost feels like the restaurant is buying positive reviews. Very disappointing overall.
Anja★☆☆☆☆
The burgers are ok and the fries are crisp if you have time to wait for it - even if you are the only guests and there are 5 waiters it takes 30 minutes from you sit down till your burger arrives. We sat down, then got our drinks - then they had a smoking-break before they finally saw us waiving so we could order food. They all look very unhappy besides then they all get busy with each other and their chit chatting about private stuff. We gave them the benefit of doubt but the second time there was even worse than the first. We will now not come back anymore.

Found this place on our last night. Having my teenage son with me he just wanted burgers. Wow, amazing burger, high quality juicy meat. The staff were brilliant and friendly. Definitely the best place for burgers.

Horrible, was served a lomo con queso with a hair dangling from it, showed it to the server as he sat it in front of me and he just looked at me and did nothing about it. We left immediately. So many places to eat in Peniscola, dont waste your money here.

Tips for Enjoying the Café Scene in Peñíscola

To make the most of your coffee experience in this historic seaside town, it helps to understand the local customs and timing. The way locals drink coffee differs slightly from the typical "to-go" culture found in larger cities, and adapting to this rhythm will enhance your visit significantly.

Know the local lingo: While many staff speak English, ordering like a local goes a long way. A "Café con Leche" is similar to a latte, a "Cortado" is an espresso with a dash of milk, and a "Carajillo" is a spiked coffee for after dinner.

Timing is everything: If you want a seat with a sea view, avoid the rush hours. Spanish coffee times are typically after breakfast (10:30 AM – 11:30 AM) and after lunch (4:00 PM – 5:00 PM). Arriving just before or after these peaks ensures better service and availability.

Stay hydrated and be patient: The summer heat can be intense. While iced coffee is available, don’t be afraid to order a "Café con Hielo," which is an espresso served with a glass of ice for you to pour over. Service in Spain is relaxed; you are expected to linger, so don’t rush the waiter.

Check for "Menu del Día" coffee combos: Many cafes in Peñíscola offer a combined price for a coffee and a pastry or a small sandwich during the morning. This is often the most economical way to enjoy a mid-morning snack like a local.

Explore beyond the main square: While the Plaza de Armas offers incredible views, prices drop and quality often rises just one or two streets back from the main tourist arteries. Wander the side alleys of the old town to find hidden patios and family-run spots.

The beauty of Peñíscola is that it offers two distinct worlds: the historic, labyrinthine old town on the rock, and the wide, accessible promenade by the sea. Both areas have their own distinct coffee personalities, with the old town offering rustic charm and the beachfront providing modern comforts.

No matter which spot you choose from our list, you are guaranteed a moment of respite. So take a seat, feel the Mediterranean breeze, and savor the distinct flavor of Peñíscola, one cup at a time.
