10 Best Cafes in Arrecife

Arrecife, the sun-drenched capital of Lanzarote, offers more than just volcanic landscapes and ocean views. It is a city where local life unfolds at a relaxed pace, and coffee culture has quietly become an essential part of the daily rhythm. For residents and travelers alike, finding the right café is about more than caffeine; it is about securing a moment of calm away from the bustling shopping streets.

The café scene here reflects the island’s unique character, blending traditional Spanish bar culture with modern, health-conscious trends. You will find everything from historic corner bars serving strong café con leche to minimalist spaces brewing specialty single-origin beans. Whether you need a quiet spot to work remotely or a sunny terrace to people-watch, the city delivers.

Understanding the local landscape is key to a great experience. Many establishments serve dual purposes, acting as bakeries in the morning and tapas bars in the afternoon, so the atmosphere can shift throughout the day. Knowing where to go for the best pastries versus the best avocado toast can save you valuable time during your stay.

We have walked the streets, spoken with baristas, and sampled the menus to bring you a curated list of the best spots. Our focus is on quality, consistency, and the overall experience, ensuring that every recommendation offers something special. We looked for places that locals love, not just tourist traps with a view.

This guide is designed to help you navigate the city’s caffeine landscape with confidence. We prioritized venues that source good beans, maintain clean spaces, and provide welcoming service. You will find options for every budget and preference, from quick takeaway counters to leisurely brunch destinations.

Below, you will find a detailed breakdown of the ten best cafés in Arrecife. We have highlighted what makes each one unique, from their signature drinks to their interior design and food offerings. Use this list to plan your mornings or find your new favorite afternoon hideaway.

Explore the city one cup at a time and discover why Arrecife is becoming a quiet powerhouse in the Canary Islands’ coffee scene.

Yoghurt bowl with fruit and nuts. Very nice! Also had coffees, tostadas con tomate and a crepe with lemon and sugar. The small garden area at rear looks inviting. Would recommend a visit.
Linda Bongers★★★★★
Great food, not too big of a portion, but that's totally fine because prices are low. We ordered a sandwich/toast each, and a crepe to share. All 3 were tasty, especially the crepe with lemon and sugar was delicious.
Gizem Coskun★★★★★
Lovely breakfast spot 🌞🥑 We had avocado sandwich and it was fresh and tasty! 🥪☕ The orange juice was freshly squeezed. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Perfect for a healthy start to the day! 🙌💚

3 of us popped in for lunch today. From the first second to the last the friendliness of all the staff was exemplary. Food was lovely and tastefully prepared. Great value. Highly recommend but the service made it, the small courtyard was a perfect place to take a break from the sun and enjoy the food.

This is an absolutely charming little cafe restaurant tucked away in the streets of Arrecife. I had a most delicious gluten free pancake which I had doubts over as I was eating as it tasted so like a 'normal' one. The owner showed me the separate plate for cooking she has so there is no cross contamination. Fantastic! The menu looks very good with plenty of other choices including many gf. We will definitely be returning to try everything!

Finally, good specialty coffee on the island! Thank you for being here. Excellent coffee with oat milk, preparation, service, cookies. Everything is great. The only thing is, I searched for you for about 20 minutes 😂 And I really wanted to see the comment "The cafe is located on the -1 floor," so I'll write this comment 🙂

We had high expectations based on the reviews and left disappointed. We stopped by around 1 pm on Saturday. The place was busy mainly with customers having coffee and there were limited seating options around. The donuts itself were dry and as other mentioned tasted like day old. Of course the best option if they were freshly made for each customer. The toppings were good and we got plenty. Considering the size of the donut and the dryness, it may be good idea to fill them instead. Very messy to eat with hands, a fork would be nice.

Excellent specialty coffee and banana bread! I keep coming back everyday. Amazing!
Marco★★★★☆
The coffee here is the best I've had in Arrecife. Not only are the beans they use of good specialty level, but the execution by both baristas I have encountered in separate visits was careful and skilled. Pleasant prices, too. EDIT September 2026: pleased to be back after a few months. The coffee is still exceptional and the young staff at the counter are still super-sweet and professional. They now also have a branch in San Bartolomé. I'll be waiting for the Playa Blanca one which will spare me a drive 😃
Honest reviewer★★★★★
The best coffee in the city! Donuts are fresh, tasty, there is a wide choice of toppings and covering available , you can even go for filling - simply amazing. Also the service is always nice and welcoming, I highly recommend this place.

Lovely place to stop for a snack, or just a coffee. Very well designed and maintained gardens and pools. With lovely views out to sea. Not sure why the pools are closed though?
Edy-Marin Bernardy★★★★★
When they say "breakfast with a view", this is what they mean. We ordered a variety of coffees and sandwiches, all of which were excellent and freshly prepared. The iced coffee, although ever-so-slightly too sweet, was so decadent and well-presented. We especially enjoyed the goat cheese and caramelised onion sandwich. When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised at the very reasonable total considering the quality of the food and splendid decor, especially given that the café is situated on a mini-island.
Cleton Fonseca★★★☆☆
Atmosphere and the scenery is excellent. But the food is not worth the price. Also the service is super slow.
Martina Sidoni★★★★★
The most beautiful cafe overlooking the white and blue pools. The staff was extremely nice and friendly and the food was stunning! I got the freshest orange juice and the fish croquettes were outstanding. Best place to grab something and enjoy the atmosphere.
Anna Kuznetsova★★★★★
This is one of the underrated gems here!.. The views are great the whole day long, atmosphere is amazing. You can just browse around the island or enjoy staying in the Cafe/restaurant. Actually, in the evening this restaurant beats many others around! The chef is creative and professional, so the food is amazing! I come here for a glass of local wine with a view or a nice dinner, so highly recommend to anyone at any time!

had coffee here 3 times during a 12 day stay in lanzarote, definitely the best coffee on the island. while being here they mostly had coffee from Nomad (Barcelona roastery) but as they told me they work with several roasteries and also have their own blend/roast which I tasted for batch brew. Really specialty coffee, expect acidity for your espressos and fruity&tea like notes for your pour overs. Highly recommend! We even bought a lovely photo book about lanzarote.
Jessica Isherwood★★★★★
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ANTIPØDA was another brilliant find while we were in Lanzarote. If you’re looking to escape the usual tourist cafés and find somewhere that takes coffee seriously, this is the place. The vibe is relaxed and authentic, with a really cool atmosphere that feels more like somewhere locals would hang out rather than a typical tourist stop. The team were great — friendly, welcoming and clearly passionate about what they do. The coffee was excellent (proper specialty coffee done right), and the food offering was just as good. Fresh pastries, sandwiches and great little bites that pair perfectly with a good coffee. You can tell they really care about quality here, from the ingredients to the presentation. It’s one of those places where you sit down for a quick coffee and end up staying much longer than planned. If you’re in Arecife and appreciate really good coffee, this place is well worth seeking out.
Mirka Hofmanová★★★★★
Probably the only place on the island where you can get a great coffee that you are used to from Europe cities. Nice plus they also have chai latte and incredible cookies and sandwiches 😍

Stunning spot for a delicious coffee! Really cool chilled vibe to have a coffee, lots of variety and a cool little clothes shop at the back.

They know what they are doing! Super nice Café! From Cold brew to Espresso out of the two La Marzocco GT3 and freshly whisked Matcha. Friendly and drinks made with passion and love! We will come back!

The waiting time was a little long and there was no English menu available, but as it is a new business it didn’t bother us too much. The drinks were amazing and just the entire aesthetic of the place was so lovely!!! The use of space is also amazing, a lot of seats. The food was quite filling, definitely reccommend this place!!

Amazing new spot in Arrecife. Really good coffee and sandwich with excellent service. This place will get really popular once people start discovering it! Will be back

Amazing cafe. I had a barraquito and lemon cake. Both were delicious. The girl who served us was so nice. She spoke English very well and was super friendly. Thank you for a lovely experience. 😌

Rockup to doors wide open and clients sitting at tables. Staff actually watch me taking off my biking gear. I go in, choose and order cake. I then order coffee, only to be told "we are closed" Dump the cake order, get my gear back on and head to a place with perhaps a clearer concept of logic. Clue ! When closed, either flip up a sign, close the doors, or advise prior to taking an order. Not Big. Not Clever !!
Rob Wilson★★★★★
Lovely people, friendly, helpful and great service. It was my breakfast stop each morning as I was on a boat in the marina. I will be back to enjoy more relaxing and tasty options from the menu. Never to busy which is also nice. The local police use this as their coffee stop which is always a good recommendation.
Courtney★★★★★
Always so friendly. The food is amazing and they always cater to any preferences.

We came here by accident the day they of their opening and immediately became our favourite brunch cafe place in Arrecife. The treat we recieved and the quality of the food they serve is just great, with nice drinks and fresh fruit and ingredients. They put a lot of love and effort into what they do and definitely you can feel it. Also the prices are really good and they have plant based milk. In case you don’t eat meat, they’re happy to veganize their food although you don’tsee it in the menu; you just have to ask them. 100% recommended, you won’t be disappointed if you’re in Lanzarote and you want to have a good breakfast or brunch.

Beautiful nice café... Running by nice Brazilian lady.. Food are really freshly prepared and coffee is so good. They're serving fresh juices, smoothies as well...

Called for brunch and ordered an Americano coffee and avocado houmous tostada which came with tofu. The plate was beautifully presented and it was delicious witha drizzle of olive oil and sesame seeds. The cafe is really cute with upcycled mismatching furniture which adds to the charm with things like an old television, telephone etc. Highly recommended.
Arianna Rota★★★★★
Really nice chilly cozy atmoshpere and wonderful vegan friendly food. The owner and her helper are amazing! Had a matcha latte with almond milk for breakfast and a wonderful tofu toasted bread ✨❤️‍🔥 highly recommended for vegetarians, vegans and for healthy options generally speaking, both savoury and sweet
Hugo ROUSSI★★★★★
He took a little while (Because there is only one cook) but the wait was definitely worth it. Excellent savoury and attention to detail when it comes to taste. And it wasn't expensive. 10/10

Lovely food, lovely lady who served us. We went back twice for breakfast and once for sliced pizza in the evening when the festival was in town. We also bought pastries to take away. Compared to other, very touristy, cafés on the promenade, this one is a hidden gem and has a soul.
Alan Smith★★★★★
A wonderful little place, just in the streets back from the main front esplanade. Seating inside and also on the pavement to watch the world going by. The best places, value, quality, are usually away from the main touristy drags. Pizzas, pastries, rolls and local breakfast in the morning. I always visit when I'm up from 'out of town' ... highly recommended, do visit.
L Collins★★★★★
Beautiful little cafe/bakery. We had the tostada with cheese and egg - super fresh and delicious. The pastries looked amazing 🤩

Writing on behalf of family! Just want to say about an amazing staff member, who went above and beyond when my partner left a phone !! Daniela deserves praise and a very big thank you . Very reliable and trustworthy person! Sarah, Manchester, UK.
Nicole Cox★★☆☆☆
I’m not sure why this place is so highly rated. Visited for breakfast at the start of our trip, the service is friendly, I can’t fault that. We ordered 2 tostada with tomate, one with jamon and another with queso. The toppings were nice enough but the bread was taken out of the freezer which confused me with it being a bakery. Surely they should use fresh bread? There’s plenty of bread and pastries on display though now I’m questioning how fresh any of it was as I bought a polvito dessert to take away. It was so old it had gone rancid. The whipped cream had solidified and tasted awful. When you pass by in the evening you can see all of the “fresh” bread still on the shelves. Shocking. Definitely one to avoid.

The best brunch we had the entire time we stayed at lanzarote. Absolutely amazing food, healthy, and so varied. They also had some overnight oats, chocolate dates, a great selection of savouries and cookies, and the most delicious coffee. The juice bar was filled with fresh fruit and veg and even the food was unique and tasted delicious. Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone staying in lanzarote..
Elizabeth★★★★★
Really nice to see something a little bit different in Lanzarote. Good range of drinks, pastries, and the food I saw come out to neighbouring tables looked fresh and fabulous. Huge portions too. Cool vibe here. Will definitely return.
Doug Thompson★★★★★
Great value eats - 2 coffees and a huge pasty only £10, wish they were in the uk. There toilets are very clean and modern. Good 5G (350 mbps), has meeting tables eg laptop space power points etc. Very accessible. This was half way between the ship and the town, which is a long walk around the marina.
Bob Redley★★★★★
This is THE place to hang out in the marina. Coffee half the price of UK. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent atmosphere. I visit it 3 or 4 times a week when at the yacht.
Elizabeth★☆☆☆☆
Absolutely overpriced for no reason. When something is worthy, I’m happy to pay, but this experience was absolutely terrible. I ordered a coffe and a croissant. I was brought the croissant first, by the time the coffee arrived the croissant was cold, so I kindly asked to warm it again. It incredibly took almost 10 min to warm a croissant. The butter for the croissant (which you are charged for) had hairs inside. When I told the waiter, she didn’t even apologize. She said this can happen. 10€ for a croissant + normal coffee. Toast with salmon was not bad, but it’s better not to mention how long it took to receive it.

Tips for Choosing the Right Café in Arrecife

Selecting the perfect spot depends largely on what you need from your visit, whether that is a fast internet connection, a hearty meal, or simply the best espresso. The city’s layout means that some of the best venues are tucked away on side streets rather than directly on the main commercial strip. To help you make the most of your time, we have compiled a list of practical tips that address common questions and concerns from visitors and new residents.

  1. Check the Opening Hours: Many traditional cafés in Arrecife close for a siesta in the late afternoon and reopen in the evening. If you plan to work late or need an afternoon coffee, look for specialty coffee shops that stay open continuously.
  2. Look for Local Roasters: To truly taste the island, prioritize cafés that use beans roasted in Lanzarote or the Canary Islands. This supports the local economy and ensures you are getting a product suited to the local water and climate.
  3. Ask About Milk Alternatives: While Spain is traditionally a dairy-heavy culture, the newer specialty cafés in Arrecife almost always stock oat, almond, or soy milk. If you have dietary restrictions, confirm this before sitting down.
  4. Consider the Terrace: The wind in Lanzarote can be strong, especially near the seafront. If you want to sit outside, look for a café with a sheltered interior patio or windbreaks to enjoy your drink without fighting the breeze.
  5. Carry Some Cash: While most modern cafés accept cards and contactless payments, some of the smaller, traditional bars might have a minimum spend or prefer cash for small purchases like a single espresso.

Arrecife’s café culture is a reflection of the city itself: warm, unpretentious, and surprisingly diverse. Taking the time to slow down and enjoy a coffee here allows you to see a different side of the island, away from the tourist resorts and busy beaches. It is an opportunity to connect with the local pace of life.

Whether you are fueling up for a day of exploring or winding down after shopping along Calle Real, these cafés provide the perfect backdrop. We hope this guide helps you find a spot that feels like your own, even if you are only visiting for a few days.
