15 Best Seafood Restaurants in Toulouse

Finding the best seafood in a landlocked city might sound like a challenge, but Toulouse has quietly become a destination for incredible maritime cuisine. Thanks to modern supply chains and a deep appreciation for French culinary tradition, the Ville Rose offers everything from briny oysters to perfectly seared scallops. You no longer need to travel to the Mediterranean coast to satisfy a craving for the ocean’s finest flavors.

The dining scene here ranges from elegant, white-tablecloth establishments to cozy, rustic brasseries that feel distinctly Southern French. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply want a casual plateau de fruits de mer with a glass of crisp white wine, there is a table waiting for you. The key is knowing where the fish is freshest and where the chefs truly respect the ingredients.

Many of the city’s top spots focus on sustainable sourcing, working directly with small-scale fisheries along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts. This commitment ensures that the fish on your plate is not only delicious but also ethically harvested. You will find a strong emphasis on seasonal availability, meaning menus often change to reflect what is currently at its peak.

From traditional French preparations to modern, inventive plating, the seafood restaurants in Toulouse offer remarkable variety. Some specialize in raw bars, while others focus on rich bouillabaisse or delicate grilled fish. Whatever your preference, the city’s culinary landscape provides a wealth of options that rival coastal destinations.

Navigating the sheer number of choices can be overwhelming, especially if you are visiting for the first time. To help you dine with confidence, we have curated a list of the standout addresses that consistently impress locals and critics alike. Each venue offers something unique, but all share a dedication to quality and freshness.

Below, you will find the definitive guide to the best seafood experiences in the region. These selections have been evaluated based on the quality of their ingredients, the skill of their kitchen, the atmosphere, and their overall value.

Great whole sea bass and roasted veges - the chef was very helpful cooking our meal before the kitchen was due to open so we could eat before going to a concert. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommended

We had a wonderful time; the welcome was warm and the food was delicious! You can tell it's high-quality. There was a good selection and the service was efficient; we didn't have to wait between courses. I highly recommend it!

An excellent experience at Au tôt ou tard de la mer! The seafood platters are beautifully presented and mouthwatering when they arrive! Not to mention the wine selection! More than just an oyster bar, it's a true neighborhood restaurant where you can enjoy a good glass of wine and delicious seafood tapas 🐟

We enjoyed a really delicious meal at Perlostrea on Friday night. We were greeted warmly, had a great table by the open door (we felt like we were outside but were warm enough) and ate and drank delicious food and wine. We had snails and potato/shrimp croquettes for starters which were delicious and sole and scallops for main course. Also lovely! I thoroughly recommend the restaurant.

We were about 8 Asians, walked in just like that on Saturday evening. Staff welcomed us warmly and set a table for us happily and we had a lovely evening of fine dining at a reasonable price. Everything was fresh and tasty. Great wine pairing. Menu choices offer several price scales to suit one’s budget. We were happy to have chosen this place. Highly recommended.

Truly exceptional seafood experience. The oysters, lobster, and mussels were incredibly fresh, full of natural flavour, and prepared with real care — every dish tasted honest and refined. The lobster was rich and tender, the oysters were clean and briny, and the mussels had a deep, comforting broth that made the whole meal unforgettable. Prices were more than fair for the quality, and the service was genuinely kind and attentive. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning to return, simply because the food is that good.

My first impression was not great. My husband speaks French, but as Canadians we do not know the French terminology or descriptions of food. Making ordering a tad difficult. Our waiter was not very helpful and a bit rude, to be honest. Luckily the food was very good, although the creme Brule could use a bit more vanilla bean. We had two of the lunch specials, a salmon and a whitefish.
Chantal Perkins★★★★☆
Great fish restaurant, good service and choice of fishes, nice wine by the glass.

Lovely place in the Toulouse outskirts. If you care for a charming environment, this small restaurant featuring a running water decorative pool and an outdoors dining area covered in white sand will surely captivate you. The food is delicious. They propose a fusion of Mediterranean culinary traditions. I had the codfish on Chermoule sauce (theirs is the garlic version) and the portion served was honest for the price charged, and very, very tasty: the fish meaat was tender and fresh, the spices were used to the right amount and the presentation of the dish was great. My mother had the tagliatelli with seafood: according to her, the pasta was the right firmness, the mussels and shrimps were generously added and tasty, nothing overdone or lacking. I was the only one to have dessert, a modified tiramisù with red fruits, made with a good flair for giving a twist to classic dessert. This is certainly a place to choose for a happy hour, an event, a good meal after a long day, or sharing a good moment in a beautiful place.

Awesome Experience! The food was really delicious and a little bit spicy. We had the seafood and chicken and a lot of fun 😊
Alexandre NONANTA★☆☆☆☆
Avoid at all costs, I suppose it's under new ownership. The wait was incredibly long, the servers were unprofessional and unhelpful, and the food was extremely low quality. I ordered a paella for two at €52, and it was a huge disappointment! Aside from the edible rice, the rest was disgusting. The mussels were ridiculously small, as were the shrimp, which were also overcooked. There were no squid or cuttlefish in the dish, and to top it all off, it arrived cold... They admitted as we were leaving that everything had been frozen—fantastic! If you want to pay a fortune for low-quality food, this is the place!
Soukeina Sekrane★★★★★
My first experience today, and I had the opportunity to try several dishes: paella, serali, Caesar salad, and seafood salad. All I can say is a huge congratulations to the chef! Everything was exquisite and delicious. I'll definitely be back. And the setting is simply magnificent; you don't even feel like you're in Toulouse, but truly by the sea. The welcome was top-notch, with smiling and very pleasant staff. Thanks again to the whole team.

We had a wonderful evening at Restaurant de l’Esturgeon in Toulouse for my husband's birthday. The meal was delicious, everything was perfectly prepared. The birthday cake was magnificent and truly excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had a very pleasant time. A big thank you to the entire team for their warm welcome, and to the chef for his kindness and professionalism. We will definitely be back!

Boniface is in a great location—it's inside a lively food hall with tons of different shops and makes for a fun hangout spot. However, the food itself is disappointing. The fried items are very average, and the oysters, especially when compared to the amazing ones I’ve had in France, just don’t measure up. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place based on the food.
Youssef Zini★★★★★
I ordered a tuna burger with fries. The burger was really good with a good sauce. The fries were a bit too greasy but served with a good sauce that helps the taste. The atmosphere is great and in a very lively place being the hall de la cartoucherie. Lovely service and the chef was really friendly.

We had Fish and Chips na octopus salad. Fish was very fried and It didn't taste good at all. Octopus was also not good. Anyway The service was friendly.

We paid 30 euros for two glasses of wine and some oysters. we found that expensive. They didn't have bread which was dassapointing.

Very dog friendly, dogs allowed inside and outside and well looked after. Friendly staff as well. We ordered from the "set menu" available every evening , portions were a bit small but food was nice. Profiteroles were amazing!
Danielle Lesch★★★★★
Wonderful dinner experience, we were a party of 4 with a reservation. Service was astute and spoke English well. I ordered the escargot appetizer and it had a lovely garlic pesto butter sauce. For the main dish I ordered the sole, well prepared with potatoes on the side. It did have ~3 bones in it and with fish I believe you'll have that from time to time. For dessert I ordered the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream...nice flavor similar to most other lava cakes. Others ordered the Shrimp salad for appetizer...very nice flavor profile. Fisherman's plate which has a good variety including the sides of sweet potato puree and ratatouille. And the profiteroles for dessert.
Michael★★★★★
Excellent classic French brasserie in a beautiful riverside location. Elegant but relaxed atmosphere, very good food, professional service, and great value for the quality. Feels authentic rather than touristy, with strong execution of French classics and a true Toulouse vibe.
Akane Ogata★★★☆☆
Friendly service but it was way too hot inside to enjoy dinner. Tables were too close to one another. Starters were delicious but the main course (Zarzuela) was too salty, salmon had a strange taste which I couldn’t eat! Dessert was good. I haven’t been to this restaurant in a while but was disappointed. It was definitely better before!
Christie T★★☆☆☆
For a Christmas set meal, to charge €80 for the quality is a real sham. The only delicious item was the prawns - everything else was bland, underdone and felt like it came from a supermarket pre-made section. A real shame. The service was only OK, but the ambiance was very nice.

A very interesting concept. They do not have a menu, you just pick your fish, they weigh it and cook it for you. I think it can be a little scary not knowing how much you will be paying since there is no fixed price, but the bill turned out to be very reasonable. We paid around 75 euros for 2 drinks, 2 fish, and 3 side dishes. The seiche was really well cooked and so were the side dishes. Very efficient too. Might recommend going earlier to have a better selection of fish.
Nick Snow★★★★★
An incredibly fish restaurant. Food is based on what it calls "the concept ". Inside is a counter with a vast array of fish. You choose- its weighed. Select your side dishes (fabulous in their own right) then back to your seat and wait - and its really worth waiting for. So good, went back the next day.
Tiffany T★★★★★
The concept is you choose your seafood and quantity, and the chef grills or fries it for you. The kitchen is just next by and you can see. There are salads, side dishes, and a good wine selection. I chose the half seafood platter and the portion was really generous: three types of fish, mussels, shrimp, and whitebait. The seafood was fresh and delicious. Amazing garlicky flavors but a bit fatty. Cozy and chill atmosphere.
Bastable-Warren Irish-Dancers★★★★★
Wow! Best dinner of 2026 by a mile! Absolutely suberb food service and ambiance! Shout out to Ines (gracias Princesa y howaya from dublin!)who explained the concept of the restaurant to us. Also thanks to all the other staff behind the scenes for an amazing meal and also Reynaud. We ordered prawns, sea bass and Daurado and each was magnificently cooked and presented. Rose wine accompanied the food perfectly. We will return soon! Merci y gracias! We will return soon!
Jocelyn Wong★★★★★
Amazing staff, and cute concept - ordering seafood at their counter as if you’re at a fishmonger, and they’ll grill everything for you. Very fresh seafood, loved the squid. Thanks for bearing with my broken French!

Food was very good, all the dishes we had were very fresh. They are also very efficient, we didn't have a very long wait (but could also probably be because we ate earlier than most of the rest who came in after us). Prices are quite high but I guess it's because their quality is high too.
Tsur Genosar★★★★★
Upscale establishment with matching food. The place itself is unique and elegant, gives you the extra touch for seafood atmosphere. The variety of fresh fish and seafood is more than impressive and most are well cooked and deserved. The service was cozy and good. Though the prices are more than normal, they are fairly priced for the freshness and quality of the products. This place is a bright spot in the culinary space of Toulouse and worth it.

Has been some time since I was sooo satisfied with a meal. Everything was amazing, the seafood of course, and from the vegetables that came with the food to the dessert. We had oysters, rilletes de poisson, tuna steak, dorade fish and a chocolate mousse for dessert. Service was just as great. Very efficient and warm service. Will definitely recommend and return!

What can I say? We had our wedding lunch here, and it was an unforgettable experience. The quality of the drinks, the freshness of the food, and the overall atmosphere were amazing! Lory, the chef, crafted a delicious menu that perfectly suited our tastes and those of our guests, all while staying within our budget without compromising on quality. He also set aside a special area for us and our guests, providing a comfortable space to hang out, celebrate, and dance, complete with his excellent music selection. It was truly the best experience for our wedding.

We were disappointed for the first time! It used to be very fresh, 5 star restaurant. We ordered the Royal, which included a lobster. I couldn’t eat it! It was a bit “off” to say the least! Crab claws were dry. (In the fridge too long.) Oysters, prawns and shrimps were great though. We told the waitress that the lobster was not good but she didn’t seem to care. Overall service was okay even though it was better before.

Hello to all the people of Toulouse... this was my first time and certainly not my last... I highly recommend these seafood platters, which are based on oysters from all over the world but produced on our French coast, perfect for the holidays or a weekend getaway. The freshness of the products and the quality of service are exceptional... the seafood hotspot... go without hesitation!

The friendly service and generous portions were great! We especially enjoyed the tuna tartar but the grilled watermelon, with feta and mint deserves 5 stars and was one of most enjoyable appetizers we had on our trip to the southwestern France. The other dishes we ordered (manchega cheese with fried cornbread and le plat of fish with zucchini ribbons) were just too salty that we couldn't enjoy them... They were also out of several tapas like the octopus so that was a bit disappointing and offered only one le plat. More options would have been nice but all in all it was a nice meal.

A wonderful, unexpected discovery! Fresh, carefully prepared, and exquisite seafood. The ingredients are high-quality, and the dishes are beautifully presented. Special mention goes to the surprise oysters—a delightful culinary experience. The service is welcoming, professional, and offers excellent advice. The setting is pleasant, and the atmosphere is convivial. Special thanks to the incredibly friendly and cheerful waitress. She provided great advice and was very professional—thank you so much!

We found a wonderful restaurant for lunch. The two female staff members were very friendly and answered our questions kindly. Every dish was delicious, and the lemonade (citron) had a refreshing taste that was perfect for our tired bodies. We tried two calamari dishes — one fried and one sautéed — and both were excellent. The regular and sweet potato fries were also tasty, and our family really enjoyed the meal together. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this place! The restaurant is beautiful, with a warm and stylish atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. The food was outstanding everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into both the cuisine and the experience. We spotted this place on our way and were immediately intrigued; high ratings made us sit and dine in. Delicious food, courteous staff, cool ambiance- this place is perfect for fish lovers. We ordered the salmon poke bowl, mix fish, sweet potato fries, and Tiramisú; everything was super scrumptious. Highly recommended, will definitely visit again once we’re back in Toulouse. They also have seating downstairs so it’s good for private parties as well.

I will start off by saying that the food is delicious and it did not disappoint. However, I will say, that the service is absolutely horrid. For this very reason, I would never come back. In fact, one couldn't pay me to come back to this place. It's such a shame because the place is absolutely gorgeous, but the service makes it so ugly. Our waitress purposely ignored us, served newcomers before us, and fought back when we complained. Additionally, we had to ask for basic things such as water and plates. I've honestly never experienced such terrible service as this.

Beautiful place with a very nice view The worst part was all the spiders and wasps EVERYWHERE! they were even falling on the table, in our drinks... I got bitten by a spider two weeks ago and I'm still receiving treatment for it!

We were on the terrace, more a garden in fact, on the tapas side. The moon is nice , in front of the Garonne, with a nice view. Depending where you eat (inside, outside terrace, outside terrace tapas / garden side) the menus in less complex. The garden offers charcuterie and seafood plates to share. The place is a very spot for all seafood and fish.

This one is the spot nearby Toulouse for eating fresh seafood. In both menus you really eat a lot of good quality fresh seafood and fishes. The view over the Garonne river is delightful. I particularly recommend this place for summertime, that's when you can enjoy the outdoor environment the most.

Nice place with nice view, but food not very good and not existing. Price much too high. Personnel was nice and kind, sometimes a bit long service.

Steak and fries and the cassoulet was simply perfect. Pasta was good but the scallops and shrimp tasted a little too fishy. Our server was amazing. They fit us in last minute. Loved the inside of the resturant.
Ryan Choi★★★☆☆
The duck in the cassoulet were still cold inside. The oysters are excellent though.

Essential Tips for Choosing a Great Seafood Restaurant in Toulouse

Selecting the perfect spot for a seafood dinner involves more than just looking at a menu. The quality of the ingredients, the preparation methods, and the atmosphere all play a crucial role in your overall experience. To help you make an informed decision and avoid disappointment, here are some practical tips to keep in mind when exploring the city’s maritime dining scene.

Prioritize the "Arrivage" (Daily Catch)
The best kitchens in Toulouse pride themselves on receiving daily deliveries. Always ask your server what the "arrivage du jour" is or look for a chalkboard listing the fresh catch. If a restaurant lists the specific origin of their fish, such as "Line-caught sea bass from Brittany," it is usually a sign of a kitchen that cares deeply about sourcing and quality.

Don’t Fear the Plateau de Fruits de Mer
If you want to gauge the freshness of a restaurant immediately, order the seafood platter. This traditional French staple usually includes oysters, whelks, shrimp, and langoustines. A high-quality platter should smell like the ocean breeze—briny and clean—never fishy. The presentation should be chilled, and the shellfish should be glossy and plump.

Look for Seasonal Menus
Seafood is highly seasonal, and a restaurant that changes its menu frequently is demonstrating expertise. For example, scallops (Coquilles Saint-Jacques) are best in the winter months, while sardines and mackerel shine in the summer. If the menu looks identical in July and December, it may indicate a reliance on frozen or imported products rather than the freshest available options.

Consider the Wine Pairing
A great seafood meal is elevated by the right wine. Look for restaurants that offer a strong selection of crisp whites, such as Muscadet, Chablis, or Picpoul de Pinet. A curated wine list that leans toward mineral-driven, acidic whites shows that the establishment understands how to complement the delicate flavors of fish and shellfish.

Check the Ambiance and Price Point
Seafood in Toulouse can range from a casual lunch to a fine dining splurge. Decide on the experience you want before booking. If you want a lively, noisy atmosphere with platters to share, a brasserie is ideal. If you are looking for a romantic dinner with intricate plating, opt for a gastro-bistro. Always review the market prices for items listed "per piece" (like oysters) to avoid bill shock.

Toulouse proves that you do not need a view of the sea to enjoy an exceptional maritime meal. The city’s commitment to logistics and culinary excellence means that the distance from the coast is measured in hours, not in quality. By choosing a restaurant that respects the ingredients and the seasons, you are guaranteed a memorable dining experience in the heart of Occitanie.

Whether you are a local looking to expand your rotation of favorite spots or a traveler eager to taste the best of French seafood, this guide serves as your starting point. Bon appétit, and enjoy exploring the deep, rich flavors that these talented chefs bring to the table.
