Nestled along the Alsace Wine Route, Colmar feels like a storybook brought to life, with its pastel half-timbered houses and gently flowing canals. Yet beyond the picture-perfect facades and the charm of Little Venice, this historic town holds a vibrant, welcoming after-dark scene. Whether you are winding down after a day of wine tasting or seeking a lively nightcap, the city’s drinking culture is rooted in Alsatian warmth and authenticity.
The local bar landscape is wonderfully diverse, ranging from cozy, wood-paneled winstubs to modern craft beer taprooms and sophisticated cocktail lounges. Here, you are just as likely to find a perfectly poured local Riesling as you are an innovative gin cocktail or a rare Belgian ale. It is a scene that celebrates both deep-rooted regional traditions and contemporary mixology trends.
Finding the right spot can transform a simple evening into a memorable highlight of your trip. To help you navigate the cobblestone alleys and bustling squares, we have curated a list of the very best places to grab a drink in the city. Benedikt Kuhlmann★★★★★
A wide selection of drinks. 14 beers can be freshly tapped at the same time. The service is attentive and caters to every need. The atmosphere is pleasantly convivial. Prices are reasonable (0.5l = €7-9).
The toilets are small, clean, and smell nice. Free Wi-Fi is available when ordering. Orders can be placed in English and French.
Ideal for a break from the stressful sightseeing in Colmar.
Josh Beck★★☆☆☆
A very nice place. A very kind and friendly staff.
But one client smoking by the door leaves the whole interior smelling of smoke.
And for a vegetarian it goes like this “yes we can takes the lardons off the tarte flambee” “ok can we have one with lardons on half?” “No” “ok can we have the tarte flambee with garlic without the lardons” “Oh no we can’t take the lardons off that one, kitchen rules”
Well despite the lovely kind staff the end result is dumb and the smell of smoke and the arbitrary decisions of the management earns a generous two stars.
Steven mccallum★★★★★
Brilliant bar. Service was immense. We were treated so well by one of the staff who spoke great English to help us order.
The beers were delicious, the wine just as good and the Comte was sublime!
We will be back again and I would highly recommend this place to anyone in Colmar.
Anthony Beebout★★★★★
Excellent beer. Being from Sacramento CA, I’m in a beer capital. 3 Monkeys has solid offerings and has a great atmosphere. Great employees and hospitality as well. Just wish they had a TShirt for purchase.

Good beer selection, several wines to choose from and great helpful staff. We stopped in to have a few drinks and a bite to eat and enjoyed some salami and pretzel mix. Bathrooms are clean, lots of tables and outdoor seating too.

They were really great. Kind and attentive staff. Good music. Beer was cold. Atmosphere was cool.

Can't say for food and drinks but the toilets are amazing. The decorations and the deer sounds that are constantly being played, truly an experience.

We loved this place and visited for an afternoon drink several times after sightseeing all day. Our waitress with the short brown hair was amazing and friendly. The toilet upstairs made us giggle every time we visited. Great staff and ambience.
Martijn Lagaune★★★★★
We watched the World Cup 2026 final Spain - Argentina here on TV screen outside. There is a jagermeister button outside, which is very inviting to press, I would therefore have expected something more spectacular to happen. Nothing really happens, you just get the shots.
Mark Purdy★☆☆☆☆
Travelling solo, ordered and paid for one beer, tried to order another, waitress acknowledged but appeared to deliberately not come my way but serve others who were in groups ( of more than one). Now l get groups will spend more than a solo traveller, but it was poor form!! Now drinking nearby and feel welcomed!!

A really cute bar in the heart of Colmar.
They have an interesting wine selection by the glass and i believe you can find always something different for the day.
The food is for not so hungry people but very suitable for the wines :))
And the service was excellent 🤩🤩🤪
Charlene Taylor★☆☆☆☆
Edited again - Oh! So now you claim you served us? For the record, your piña colada tasted like chlorinated water — I took two sips and even asked my husband to try it, and he agreed it tasted strange. This had nothing to do with the alcohol content. When we paid, you didn’t say anything about what you’re claiming now. To top it off, we specifically asked for a receipt to check what we were charged for and YOU REFUSED to give us one.
Yes, we did visit last year and had a lovely evening, but this time the experience was bad enough to deserve an honest review. Also, you’re contradicting yourself — first you said you didn’t serve us, then you claimed you remember us from before, and now you say you served us this time too? Unbelievable. Too bad I didn’t photograph the cheese — it would have proved it wasn’t any different, despite what you’re saying now.
Edited my review to reply to owner - I'm attaching a photo taken at your establishment together with the transaction to confirm.
We returned a piña colada due to an unusual and unpleasant taste, yet we still left feeling significantly overcharged. We were billed €39.50 for a pint of beer, a panaché, a bottle of water, and a so-called “mixed platter” that consisted of only one type of cheese and three varieties of ham — although it was good it hardly justifies the cost. Upon requesting an itemized receipt to clarify the apparent overcharge, the waitress explained that her manager instructed her to charge us €10 for the panaché, claiming that since the cocktail had already been prepared, she was obliged to pay for it herself. Overall, this experience was deeply disappointing and did not represent good value for money.
Anna Harsch★★★★★
Very tasty cocktails! I just felt pity for the lady who was responsible for the bar and was a cashier, it was too much for her. But the bar is really great and the drinks are very nice!
Mel Travels★★★★★
We came here for a birthday celebration and had an amazing night that we returned the very next evening. The cocktails are simply outstanding and Alicia was beyond wonderful! They all welcomed us with such kindness and even joined us for a toast, which made everything feel so personal and special. Merci!
Ian Chetcuti★☆☆☆☆
The owner is a liar, made up a story of having a boss, and stated that she would have to pay for a panache out of pocket, failed to present the receipt when requested, and denied that she ever served us after a negative review. She then edits the review reply after we provide proof and has the cheek of accusing my wife of wanting to try to a cocktail without paying. As if we never tasted a Pina Colada... Furthermore, we also visited in the past, and it's clear the owner can't handle constructive criticism about the platters. It's a pity that I carelessly paid via card without checking a valid receipt first because unlike the owner, we aren't misers and out for a free drink. Daylight robbery and dishonest owner.

Andreas Sørensen★☆☆☆☆
Worst caipirinha I’ve had. The barman has clearly never tried a real one. They should not advertise cocktails.
Adur Bartra★☆☆☆☆
We asked for 2 paints worth 15€. As the bar ran out of that beer, we were served 2 other paints for 18€ without asking if we wanted to pay more. Awful service.
Anik Chakraborty★☆☆☆☆
Terrible service. We were early to check in to our Travel Homes - The Bredele. So we decided to spend 15-20 minutes to have some coffee and hot chocolate. The waiter did not serve the drinks, I had to go to them multiple times to bring my orders. They did not even clean up the table even after asking numerous times.
Evans Yeung★★★☆☆
OK bar. I mean a normal bar. The barmaid was kinda cold. Atmosphere pretty dead.. But maybe cause it was 4:30 pm but then again we were at '3 monkeys' just before and it was way better. BTW you have to pay immediately after your order.
Veselin Karamfilov★☆☆☆☆
I cannot believe I was charged €12 for a regular 0.5L beer. Absolute rip-off. This place is a joke, save your money and go literally anywhere else. I would never recommend it to anyone.

Le Shelby Speakeasy in Colmar is a hidden gem! We loved the unique speakeasy concept, adding a touch of mystery to our frequent visits to Colmar. The atmosphere, impeccable service, and carefully crafted drinks made our experience truly special. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable night out in this charming town!"
Christopher Horstkamp★★★★★
Vibe- exactly what you need. The cocktails are super. If you don’t know what you want, they will figure it out. These are alchemists.
Amy Wood★☆☆☆☆
One of the worst bars I have ever been to. The entrance is fun, but the drinks, atmosphere and service were all dreadful. There were two other couples in there with us and one borred looking bar tender, who rushed our two cocktails (Mexican mule, which tasted like it had no booze in it and Old fashioned, which he didn't mix) and a bottle of water that he didnt even take the cap off before wondering off to twirl his cocktail shaker. We opened the water ourselves at the table.
The drinks tasted like trash, the menu was limited and boring and the vibe was just generally really weird.
It had so much potential, but it just failed at every turn.

Great bar in Colmar! The atmosphere is really cool and relaxed. It’s self-service, which actually adds to the laid-back vibe.
You’ll find people of all ages here, which makes it a fun and interesting mix. The place was well attended and had a great energy without feeling uncomfortable.
Definitely a cool spot to grab a drink and hang out!
Margot★★★★★
Excellent bar serving a variety of beers, including local ones, on draft, cans, or bottles. Beers to go, as well as other alcohol, are available. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The bar has a large terrace at the back. Flammkuchen served in the evening alongside the delicious beers.

Very nice place; beautiful decor, good atmosphere, shaded outdoor area.
Disappointed by the cheese board: we were given a tray of bread and two vacuum-sealed items... The cheese was quite good, but I didn't appreciate the way it was presented.

Andrew Park (Gorky)★★☆☆☆
Disappointed. Two completely over-worked waiters trying to cope with a busy restaurant = slow and inattentive service. When the food eventually arrived it had that taste that comes with meals that have been left on a warming plate too long. Be clear this is the Irish Bar’s restaurant. Great location, just lacking that Colmar vibe.
Bernd Schmitz★★★★★
We had a fantastic time at Murphy’s Irish Pub Coffee last Friday evening, from 10:30 PM until nearly 1 AM. It wasn’t packed, but there was a great atmosphere with friendly and pleasant guests. What really stood out that night was the excellent service from the staff. They introduced us to some unique cocktail creations, including a spontaneous twist on a classic Aperol, turning it into a Beer-Aperol, which we absolutely had to try. One of the highlights of the evening was trying a new cocktail featuring cucumber schnapps with strawberry juice, served with dry ice for a cool effect—it was absolutely fantastic!
We even jokingly suggested the name “Cucumber Craic” for this fun and surprising drink. Hopefully, it will make the menu soon!
If you’re ever in Colmar, this pub is a must-visit. Even though it’s not your typical French establishment, the warm hospitality and humor make it a truly special experience. Highly recommended!
Marcin Biechowski★★★★★
a very nice Irish pub with history in the background .. Whenever I had a match you can watch. Great atmosphere and great servluga. Perfect alcohol, not only beer, because the selection of whiskey or gin is also great.

I enjoyed the fresh & cool ‘Alsace’ wine so much in a lovely Colmar village. 🥂

Best cocktail bar in Colmar. We had the best experience with Greg! He was able to make me a drink similar to the original one with ingredients he had available. Super friendly, perfect English and knowledge of so many wines! He made one of the best Manhattan's for my husband!

Love this place. I've poped-in on my last night in Colmar. Excellent coctails. Little bit high priced but when you get your private terasse with it, it is worth it. 😉 Staff is very polite and at your service.

Sophia Kousiakis★★★★★
One of those rare bars where the staff make the evening. They clearly know their wines inside out, but what really stood out was how quickly they picked up on what we liked; each pour built on the last, and the evening just kept getting better. We could easily have stayed another three hours.
The wine list changes weekly and is full of finds, including an Alsace Syrah, which we'd never come across and won't forget. The nibbles are generous enough to count as dinner, and the whole atmosphere pulls you in and makes you want to settle in for the night.
If you're in Colmar and love wine, don't miss this place.
Gene Brock★★★★★
A quaint and wonderfully warm spot that made our evening in Colmar feel unforgettable. The candlelit setting created a cozy, intimate atmosphere that was perfect for relaxing with friends. The staff recommended an incredible bottle of La Grande Dame 2015 that paired beautifully with a caviar presentation fit for royalty. Everything came together so seamlessly that it felt less like a night out and more like a special moment shared in someone’s home. A must-visit if you want a charming, elevated experience in Colmar.
Gillian Allen★★★★★
A real locals spot - wonderful and cozy bar with warm hospitality, amazing Champagne and wine choices and great food. Florian is the best, he really takes the time to make every guest feel special. He pours his heart into this place and it shows! La Folie feels like home.
Jaclyn Thode★★★★★
Absolutely amazing wine bar! The owner was so kind and helpful, helping us pick our selections of wine based on what we normally liked and recommending local varietals. Even helped us find ‘locals’ dinner options out of old town. Such an amazing spot, came back the next day!

After finally arriving to Colmar after 10 h in the car and first time here, we of course made our way to the best rated irish pub. A nice welcome from the first waitress. I ordered the goats cheese tarte flambee without bacon, but once it arrived it had bacon on it and also missing both rocket and dried tomatoes as promised in the menu. Got a new one after awhile, but the rocket and dries tomatoes were still missing. I pointed this out to the second waitress but she told me they dont't have rocket. After showing her the menu and pointed out both the rocket and fried tomatoes on it, she went into the kitchen and came back with a small bowl of rocket....? But no tomatoes?
In my opinion, it is not ok to serve a dish without two of the key ingredients according to the menu. They did not say anything about it and I still have no idea where the tomatoes went. Did not get an apology or a discount on the check. Disappointing since the atmosphere were really cozy and the staff were overall were friendly!

Great food and slightly away from crowds highly recommend.
The only gripe was a very rude younger member of staff ,she was very abrupt and didn't care about the customers. I will be back on my next visit.

Bad experience tonight. The France match was scheduled to be broadcast at 11 pm… but there was no sound from the game because there was a DJ there who was deliberately shouting into his microphone, making it impossible to understand.

Great place overall. Wonderful greeting and service by the bartender and great selection of beers, cocktails and food. Great decorations and the bar is compact but comfortable. I’m traveling with my parents. They were very tired. They are over 70 yo. They needed to sit, I needed a beer, my girlfriend went to the bathroom. I ordered one and started drinking it. My parents don’t drink. So they didn’t order anything. When I told them they were not having a beer, the employee or owner, took the beer out of my hand by force and kicked us out of a completely empty bar. My girlfriend was just coming back from the bathroom while this happened. She would probably have ordered a beer too. What a weird power trip. This huge dude, with a grumpy face, acting like I was playing with his toy and he wanted it back. I hope you feel very powerful when you lay your head in the bed tonight, thinking how great you are for mistreating elderly people without any explanation. If it’s necessary for everyone to order something to be able to stay in your bar just communicate that somehow, it’s simple as that.
Answering the response: Just pitiful. Even myself, I poorly educated person according to their standards and anyone that can read, can easily spot the lies: “you sat there without ordering” and “I took his beer from his hands”. Did the beer magically appeared in my hands?
A bar to bully tourists. If you want to risk being treated like shit, with no warning or even communication by the people on this bar. Good luck.

Passing through Alsace to see my family. A very pleasant discovery. Great atmosphere. Friendly setting. Excellent meal. We had cordon bleu with Munster sauce; the only downside was that it was served with fries, but spaetzle would have been better, especially for dipping.

We had a fantastic evening at this restaurant!
We came with friends for a meat fondue and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, as always, at least for me 😍
The meat is always excellent quality, tender and flavorful. The potatoes were perfect and the salad was delicious. Absolutely nothing to complain about, just savor it. Everything was perfectly prepared and generously portioned.
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, ideal for spending quality time with friends. The staff is top-notch: welcoming, smiling, and attentive.
Honestly, I recommend it without hesitation! We had a wonderful time and we'll definitely be back 👌

A truly original and historic setting; in fact, the floors and ceiling come from Mont Sainte-Odile. The welcome is very warm and friendly. A very good place to stay.

We stumbled upon this place quite by chance, and what a surprise! The decor is incredible from floor to ceiling, the staff are super friendly, and the prices are more than reasonable! We ordered a mixed platter (charcuterie and cheese), and the products were delicious and high-quality!
You can go there without hesitation!
Tips for Enjoying a Night Out in Colmar
While the atmosphere in Colmar is generally relaxed and welcoming, a few local insights can help you make the most of your evening. Understanding the rhythms of the city and the customs of its establishments will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience as you explore the local bar scene.
1. Embrace the Winstub Culture
While not a traditional "bar," the winstub is the heart of Alsatian social drinking. These cozy taverns are perfect for starting your evening with a glass of local wine and a small plate of food. They offer an authentic atmosphere that modern bars often cannot replicate, so don’t miss the chance to visit one early in the night.
2. Look Beyond the Main Tourist Squares
The most picturesque terraces often come with premium prices and slower service. To find where the locals actually drink, venture a few streets away from the busiest parts of Little Venice and the Cathedral Square. You will often find more character, better value, and a more authentic vibe in the side alleys.
3. Ask for the Local Grape Varietals
Colmar is the capital of Alsace wine, so take advantage of the local expertise. When ordering white wine, don’t just ask for "Riesling"—ask for a recommendation of a local Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, or Muscat. Bartenders and sommeliers here are incredibly knowledgeable and are usually eager to introduce visitors to lesser-known local bottles.
4. Check for Seasonal Hours
Colmar is a major tourist destination, and its nightlife ebbs and flows with the seasons. During the famous Christmas markets, bars are packed and may have extended hours, but during the quiet winter months after the holidays, some smaller establishments may close for vacation. A quick check of a bar’s social media page can save you a wasted walk.
5. Pace Yourself with Alsatian Beers
While wine is king, the local beer culture is strong, influenced by neighboring Germany. If you are enjoying the local lagers or wheat beers, remember they can be stronger than standard international lagers. Hydrate with water between drinks, especially if you plan to explore multiple venues in one evening.
Colmar after sunset is a magical experience, where the glow of street lamps reflects off the canals and the sound of clinking glasses spills from timber-framed taverns. Whether you prefer a quiet corner with a glass of Grand Cru or a buzzing bar with innovative cocktails, this city offers a drinking experience steeped in history and hospitality.
As you wander from one venue to the next, you’ll discover that the best bars in Colmar are more than just places to drink—they are living rooms for the community and windows into the Alsatian way of life. Enjoy the journey, savor the flavors, and let the unique charm of this fairy-tale town guide your evening.
