Fun little skater bar. Funky decor, decent drink selections, friendly staff. Watched Rugby World Cup here and had a good time. Also have free darts, paid pool and foozeball.
Jake Van Winkle★☆☆☆☆
This place hosts the rudest and most disruptive people who shout, cheer, whistle, and yell well into the night (I’m talking 2 or 3am) with no regard for any of the hundreds of people sleeping in the vicinity. It’s actually awful they profit off of the drunken clientele at the expense of all of their neighbors.
Flet★★☆☆☆
Very dirty place, the terrace is probably not cleaned in a while, a lot of cigarette butts on the ground, the seating space was also dirty. Beer was okay, standard prices, do not expect any service from the staff members. Also they are quite tensed. Good location, but not sure if I would recommend it.
C Clarke★★★★★
Cool little British-style pub in the centre of Chamonix. Has an outside seating area as well as a couple inside areas (pool table, games etc). Allows food from the hotdog shack opposite to be eaten at the tables. Good selection of drinks and great staff.

Great place for a drink and to catch a vibe, can get crowded tho

Our experience here was excellent! Amazing Mountain Views with spacious outdoor seating. Did not have to wait to be seated on a summer Friday night. Ugo was our server and he was outstanding - friendly, funny and helpful! It’s family friendly outside with a show and kids activities. Happy to spend time here during our first time in Chamonix.

This location stands out as an exceptional global destination, offering an unparalleled experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it, having personally encountered outstanding hospitality and exemplary service. The local populace consistently demonstrates remarkable generosity and amiability. I would definitely like to come again and again.

Beautiful bar with amazing views of the mountains. The wait staff is great! Margaux was the sweetest! 🙂

Thanks to Benjamin and the team at La folie douce bar. Amazing night all round with Benjamin in particular making us feel welcome and ending the night wanting to return. A great place to spend an evening and more.

Watched the mighty Villa brush aside Lille in this Irish bar in the very centre of Chamonix. Great staff, great atmosphere and great Guinness. Could you ask for more?
Emma Jackson★☆☆☆☆
We had a very disappointing experience. We were treated rudely and unkindly, I would highly NOT recommended this pub if your looking for exciting, traditional, friendly, places for a drink

We stumbled into Bar du Moulin by accident when our original plan was closed, and we couldn't have been happier with the detour. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and inviting, providing a very romantic setting for us as a couple. The drinks were crafted exceptionally well, and the service was top-notch. We were particularly impressed by how welcome our dog was made to feel; he received treats and a bowl of water without us even having to ask. We enjoyed it so much that we happily stayed for a second drink after trying the delicious Flammekueche. A huge thank you to Eugenie for such a pleasant experience.
Jean Sébastien★★★★★
Great spot in Rue des Moulins for an early-evening drink that naturally turns into a party. Well-made signature cocktails, friendly and efficient staff, and DJs that actually match the room (not the same playlist every night). Good sharing bites too. Lively vibe without feeling chaotic.
C Clarke★★★★☆
Great little pub down by the river. Has a small outside area with some interesting industrial-style decor, as well as inside seating. Lots of drink deals. Was pretty dead when we went but I think that was mainly due to it being off the main paths.
Dan Scheffer★★★☆☆
We happened to stop in on a quiet Monday evening, so it was a bit less busy than what you might find on a weekend night. Fun decor, and slightly expensive drinks make for an entertaining, if short, stop.
Alain Devaux★★★★☆
Small but very nice and typical place, mainly in wood, with a DJ. We stopped here for a drink after dinner and it was definitely worth it. A nice discovery, even if it is not on the main street.

I stopped in the afternoon on my way in from the bus station and had a green beer and a nice chat, then returned in the evening for an amber beer and another chat. Nice place, nice people. NB: I’m here at 22:33 on a Thursday night in June but Google maps claims it closes 22:00, and a sign front of the bar may also suggest that (see last picture). I’m not in a position to interpret the data (maybe “service” in that context means the kitchen?), just happy they are still “serving” beer here & now 🙂
Chris Chaney★★★★☆
My family had a tasty outdoor lunch at South Bar, with spectacular mountain views, but our server needed some help! She seemed overwhelmed waiting on the patio lunch crowd all by herself. Our South Burgers (very good) came out quickly enough, but after eating it took a half hour to get our bill. Normally I wouldn't care, but we had a tour excursion to get to. I'd love to try this place again, but alas, I live 4400 miles away.
F.J. Urbina Jimenez★☆☆☆☆
The place was essentially empty inside, we were sitting with a group of friends, some of us had some drinks and fries. The waiter wanted all of us to have something, or leave, we decided to leave. Very bad attitude. Would've understood if they were full, but that was not the case.
Anne Bee★☆☆☆☆
Stopped here after hiking all day and exhausted/hungry. No one was around so I sat down. When one frazzled servers came walking by fast he abruptly stopped and looked at me and quickly asked what I wanted...I've traveled a lot and in many cultured restaurants stop serving food from 1400 to 1700...I was here at 1530 and seeing no other individuals with food I asked if they were open for food...the frazzled server, an older balding man, proceeded to call me stupid and that was a stupid question. I laughed it off and got a menu and he rushed off. I was then served by two women who were pleasant. There are a lot of restaurants in this area - rude service and not being culturally sensitive in a tourist area is unacceptable - not returning ever to this establishment and have shared my experience. Sadly this gentleman appears to either hate his job or is just generally miserable.
Taylor S★★★★★
I love South Bar. The vibes are immaculate and the views are incredible. The bartenders are so much fun! I could really go for a Leffe and a cig right now. Miss you guys.

Amazing bar! Very friendly bartenders that made us specialty cocktails catered to our needs. We kept going back every day during our vacation because we loved it so much. Merci beaucoup! 😘
Rachel Stephenson★★★★★
Super cool spot for happy hour drinks. Inside is cozy or you can sit on the patio along the river. Bar service was a little slow with one person working but I may have just caught it at the wrong time.
Busca Stéphane★★★★★
Discopic in Chamonix is an absolute gem. The entourage and ambience are spot-on — lively, welcoming, and just the right vibe for a great night out. The service is genuinely worth it: attentive, friendly, and smooth even when it’s busy. Cocktails are excellent too — I had a Negroni and an Espresso Martini, and both were perfectly done. Highly recommend if you’re in Chamonix and want great drinks in a great atmosphere.
Jemma Wolstencroft★☆☆☆☆
Stopped in 5.45pm. The only customer was me. It was happy hour. Regular beer price is €6 but were charged 8. No music. Completely miserable bar man. Won't return.

Best drinks in Chamonix! The Hugo spritz, espresso martini, and the lemon drink were incredible. Chill vibes for a small group

We stopped by Le Privilege every night we were in Chamonix. Amazing food, burger and frog legs (!) were fantastic and I had the best Old Fashioned I had on the trip, not to mention the other specialty drinks that rocked. Live entertainment at happy hour created a great atmosphere. Our group was 10 Americans from 16 to 55 and we all loved Le Privilege. 10/10 would recommend.
Amy Thompson★★★★★
We love Chamonix and this is one of our happy places. The happy hour drinks and tapas are so great! The inside is cozy. The outside is comfortable and they often have music or sports on their big screen. We just love it here.
Steven mccallum★★★★★
Spent a week in Chamonix and went in for a drink most nights to Le Privelege. A lovely place, really rustic and a very good atmosphere. We were treated very nicely every time we were in by the same barman. A big thanks to him for looking after us all week. We look forward to coming back soon 👍👍
Marlo Waters★★★★★
The atmosphere is cozy quaint lovely alps style, service is excellent, food and drinks delicious, awesome music, and will be back again, and again. Highly recommend, even as an ambivert I totally felt “at home” here!

Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I love their chicken wings with their delicious in-house BBQ sauce. Hubby got “ omelette Norvegienne”, which is not omelette at all, but ice cream with whipped cream. The lime rinds elevates the taste. Enak.
Zephan Tay★★★★★
I visited this place at 7.30pm on 10 June and i wanted to say the waiter received the order was very polite and friendly to tourist. It gave me a very good dining experience! Love the food here too 🙂
Chris B★★★★★
Bloody delicious food and excellent beer! Great burgers and yummy salads.
Charnelle Brown★★★★★
Service was fast and my server was very nice and attentive. My mocktail was delicious. I also had chicken wings and fries. Both came out piping hot! So that meant it was fresh and it also tasted very good!
L S★★★☆☆
I had the fish and chips. If you're British, forget it. It was very bad and so small. The fried fish was hard and overcooked and looked like the type of cheap frozen fish you would buy from the freezer section in a supermarket. However, we were a table of 4 and the other 3 people at the table enjoyed their meals. One had a triple decker burger with wedges which I was told was delicious. Another had a hearty salad with bacon and chicken, again great. And another small burger with fries. Everyone was happy bar me. Never mind. I would return but would certainly order something else. Prices are good for the area.

Seth is the best barmen in every possible way, he does really good cocktails(our group think they are the best in our’s life), he is very cute and helping and speaks 4 languages. The place is good looking and comfortable as well. Would recommend and will come back. 12 out of 10.
Jean Spencer★★★★★
Amazing cocktail bar that really ups the bouge vibe of Chamonix. Great both inside and outside with comfy couches, cute lights, and a bartender who cares deeply your every tastebud is satisfied. Can’t wait for the DJ sets this winter for dancing too
Johanna S★★★★★
A mix of chill vibes, Manhattan class, Indo flair, and a dash of Moulin Rouge drama. Chamonix had no idea how much we’d been dreaming of a rooftop…and apparently, dreams do come true! Its unique style goes way beyond the red shades and killer cocktails, all crafted by a bartender who clearly knows the art. The finesse here needs no second guessing. Our only concern…is that this place might just become a victim of its own success (!) once it hits the Pinnacle 🔮. For now, we’re just thrilled to have found this gem and yeah we’ll happily take the risk of giving Rooftop our best review, because uniqueness deserves to be celebrated, and so does the courage to stand out.
Acsa Fernandes★★★★★
Amazing!!! An absolute explosion of flavors from start to finish. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked and incredibly light. The meat was tender and juicy. The potatoes were crispy, and delicious. Everything was flawless, well-seasoned, balanced, and perfect!!

Oh what a great night out! At first it wasn’t busy actually more calm. We had 2 drinks and we wanted to see other bars but after checking we came back and stayed till it closed. It was so fun! Socialising with people, dancing, singing and ofcourse drinking! People are also very friendly, people bought us drinks. Made a few new friends so that is nice to have 🤪 After the bar closed we went to a nightclub Amnesia it was also very cool! 😍
Alain Devaux★★★★☆
The place is very well designed and nicely furnished. We stopped here for a drink after dinner. Great atmosphere with good music, also nice if you want to dance a bit.
Tom Tom★★★★★
Great decor. Overpriced drinks. Toilets are pimpin’ and best of all, possibly onyx clad bar.
Alex Neale★☆☆☆☆
Very confused why anyone would like their cocktails. We had an espresso martini, a bramble and another cocktail i forget, and they were some of the wateriest tasteless cocktails I've had. Wouldn't be surprised if they watered down their booze. The bars next door are much better. In response to the owners reply, we ordered 3 cocktails from 2 bar tenders and they were all bad. The bramble was exceptionally bad, so we left rather than complaining. If only one of the cocktails was bad we'd have sent it back.
Kevin Laitipaya★★★★★
Randomly walked in here for drinks. Stayed for the great music and vibes. A DJ was mixing on the main floor after 10pm both nights that I came. There is a downstairs that has the space for a separate DJ to play as well, but we didn't see it as we only came Monday-Wednesday.

L’Hydromel Pub is a fantastic spot with a warm, lively atmosphere that’s perfect for a relaxed meal. I tried both the Original Smashed Burger and the Jalapeño Smashed Burger, and they were easily among the best burgers I’ve ever had—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The service was prompt, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great burgers and a fun dining experience!
Amanda Wagner★★★★★
We stopped in for a quick drink and appetizer and had a wonderful time. I had, genuinely, the best Moscow Mule of my life here. The tapas app we shared was so fresh and exactly what we needed while eating on the patio on an extremely hot day.
Sydney Logan★★★★★
We had the double smash burger and Savoyard burger. The power mayo on the Savoyard was delicious but the double smash burger was one of the best burgers I’ve had! The sweet potato fries were good def wish they had like a dill dip and then they’d be exceptional.
Rowena Shah★★★★★
Really nice place. Had vegetarian options and great happy hour offers. Nice vibes and food really nice.

We came here twice for dinner and drinks. The food was very good and staff were nice. Prices were reasonable too. The beef burger was good and the chips were homemade which is always good to see. They had a good selection of local beers and a variety of other dishes on the menu.

I arrived here to meet a german mountaineer person who would be joining on a Haute Route trip. We would discuss the planning over a cold beverage to work out the details. I had been thwarted on my previous attempts to do a Haute Route trip — and I accidentally knocked over some guy’s snowboard on my way inside — so I was maybe not in the best mood on my arrival. After one beer listening to the young german describe in detail all his climbing aspirations, I started to notice the other people arriving here. Sporty people, not sporty people, guys with mullets, and generally a mix of happy, friendly locals just wanting a mellow place to have an afternoon beer. And of course the handsome bartender that served us. As I got on to my second beer — I usually stop at one — I realized my mood had lightened and that my ski partner friend suddenly seemed to be in good spirits as well. Finally the shame of having knocked over that guy’s snowboard fizzled away, I stopped feeling bitter resentment toward my ex, and I decided to let go of the grudge I was holding against my estranged uncle. Now i could focus on my upcoming trip and enjoy the company of my new friend. Our plan was solidified, my darkest feelings resolved, and even the weather ahead looked perfect. Just one trip to Le Demi and I walked away feeling like the place did more for me than many months of expensive therapy sessions. It’s all good vibes, friendly people, physically attractive servers, and a positive atmosphere at this establishment. Highly recommended!
Clare Dallaway★★★★★
What a find! A real gem… here on TMB and staying in Argentiere we found this beautiful bar! Lots of local beers, fabulous prices and wonderful atmosphere. Isabel is the perfect host and the bar staff are all so friendly as well as being the most beautiful people we’ve seen here since our arrival! It’s worth a visit… you may even stumble in on happy hour too! The blonde beer pression is a must!
Steve Allen★★★★★
Yes! Wherever you are in the world come here now! Everything is works class! The bar staff are so sexy I had to faint a couple of times before I could order a pint. Forget the beautiful views. Just come for the people
Nick Moore★★★★★
I’d give the beer 5 stars, but the bartenders kept distracting me from drinking it. I’m starting to suspect they hire supermodels instead of hospitality staff. The beer was great… I think. I’ll have to come back for a second opinion.
Devon Rosh★★★★★
Wow I walked in and knew this place was the place. The music, the lighting, the vibes ugh. To top it all off some of the best looking bartenders in town. The coldest drinks, crispiest tendies and the sexiest bartenders. Thirsty for a pint just thinking about Le Demi

Amazing bar in Chamionx went to watch the Champions League Final was packed and the poor girl behind the bar was starting her first ever shift it was amazing to see how people were patient and just waited to be served the atmosphere was great and the beer was not too bad pity about the result for the many arsenal fans who were in the bar but well done to the owner for making the night a good one
Simon K★★★★★
You couldn’t ask for a nicer pub, with a quality atmosphere! Great selection of drinks inc tea/coffee, although they don’t sell food (apart from light snacks) we were welcome to bring food in from neighbouring eateries. I made good use of the free pool, which was a great way to meet friendly faces inc some expat locals, (everyone was super friendly & there was some good humoured competitiveness on the pool table), staff were very friendly too & attentive, even when busy, drinks were ordered/served promptly. 2 great big TV’s playing the most requested game/s, with picture perfect quality & broadcast! I’m quite sure if Beckett & Wilde were alive today they would both be proud to drink in such an establishment with their names above the door! Until next time B&W…..(Bruce Lee aka Simon Keogh).
Brendan Scott★★★★★
Great bar with friendly staff and a lively atmosphere. Stopped in here for a drink whilst waiting for a dinner reservation and we were very happy that we did. The staff are super friendly, there's a free pool table (though it is well used), and the Guinness was the best I've had for a very long time. The atmosphere was so enjoyable I even went back after dinner and watched the football.

Best club in town 👍

Staff was extremely unfriendly, not a surprise from a French “night club “ but I wouldn’t go there if what you want is to have fun. The place is literally 40 square meters but since the moment you step a foot in the front door they treat you as if you were in a night club in Paris or Nezw York, arrogant and extremely unpolite. DO NOT GO!

Tips for Enjoying the Chamonix Bar Scene

Navigating the nightlife in a high-altitude resort town comes with its own set of unique rules and customs. While the atmosphere is generally relaxed and geared toward outdoor enthusiasts, knowing a few local logistics can significantly enhance your evening. From understanding the cultural approach to "Happy Hour" to planning your route home, a little preparation goes a long way in ensuring a memorable night out.

1. Embrace the Later Start
Unlike some European cities where dinner and drinks begin early, the Chamonix social calendar often revolves around the mountain schedule. Many locals and visitors don’t head out until after 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM, especially on weekends. If you arrive at a bar at 8:00 PM, you might find it quiet; use this time to secure a good table or enjoy a relaxed dinner before the crowds arrive.

2. Hydrate More Than Usual
Chamonix sits at just over 1,000 meters above sea level, and many visitors spend their days at altitudes exceeding 3,000 meters. Alcohol affects the body much more rapidly at altitude, and dehydration is a primary cause of "altitude sickness" symptoms. Make it a rule to drink one glass of water for every alcoholic beverage, particularly on your first night in town before your body has acclimatized.

3. Understand the "Demi"
When ordering beer, you will often be asked if you want a "demi" (25cl) or a "pinte" (50cl). The local beer culture is strong, with many bars serving local brews from the Big Mountain Brewery or Bec Jaune. Opting for a "demi" allows you to sample more of the local craft offerings without overdoing it too early in the evening.

4. Dress Code is "Mountain Chic"
Chamonix is not a glitzy, high-fashion destination like Courchevel or St. Moritz. The vibe here is practical and rugged. While you should leave the ski boots at home, a pair of clean sneakers, jeans, and a nice fleece or down jacket are perfectly acceptable in almost every venue, including the nightclubs. Overdressing will often make you stand out more than dressing casually.

5. Plan Your Late-Night Transport
While the town center is walkable, many accommodations are located in the surrounding hamlets like Les Praz, Argentière, or Les Houches. The public bus system (Le Mulet) runs late on weekends, but taxis can be scarce after midnight. Save the number of a local taxi company or ensure you have the schedule for the night bus before you start your evening to avoid a long, cold walk home.

6. Don’t Skip the Vin Chaud
Even if you are not typically a wine drinker, trying a vin chaud (hot mulled wine) is a rite of passage in the Alps. It is the perfect warmer for walking between venues during the winter months. In the summer, switch this out for a local Génépi, a traditional herbal liqueur that acts as a digestive and is deeply embedded in Savoyard culture.

The bar culture in Chamonix is an extension of its mountain identity: unpretentious, international, and full of energy. It is a place where you can clink glasses with a world-famous alpinist one minute and a first-time tourist the next, all united by the shared awe of the landscape outside.

Whether you end your night at a high-energy disco or a quiet wine bar reflecting on the day, you are guaranteed to find a spot that feels like your own personal corner of the Alps. Just remember to drink responsibly, respect the mountains, and soak in every moment of the vibrant valley life.
