The French Riviera is synonymous with glamour, but beyond the red carpets of the Croisette and the superyachts in the harbor lies a deeply rooted café culture that defines the rhythm of daily life in Cannes. Whether you are in town for the Film Festival, a business conference, or a sun-drenched holiday, finding the perfect spot to enjoy an espresso or a chilled rosé is essential. The city’s coffee scene is a fascinating mix of old-world Parisian elegance and modern, health-conscious Australian influences.
Navigating the sheer volume of options can be overwhelming, especially during the busy summer months when terraces overflow with visitors. You might be looking for a quiet corner to answer emails, a sun-drenched square to people-watch, or a stylish interior to escape the midday heat. Each neighborhood in Cannes offers a distinct atmosphere, from the historic Le Suquet district to the high-end boutiques of the Rue d’Antibes.
This guide is designed to cut through the noise and introduce you to the most exceptional spots the city has to offer. We have evaluated these locations based on the quality of their coffee, the freshness of their pastries, the ambiance of their interiors, and the charm of their outdoor seating. While Cannes is famous for luxury, this list includes a mix of hidden gems and iconic institutions to suit every budget and occasion.
Quality is paramount here, and the best establishments take their craft seriously, sourcing specialty beans and training skilled baristas. However, a great café in Cannes is about more than just the beverage; it is about the experience. The sound of the milk frother, the view of the passing pedestrians, and the quality of the light hitting your table all contribute to the moment.
As a visitor or a local, you want to avoid the tourist traps that serve overpriced, bitter coffee with a side of indifference. Instead, you deserve to sit where the locals linger over their morning papers or where the digital nomads set up their laptops. The venues selected below represent the best of the city’s current landscape, ensuring that your caffeine fix is paired with authentic Riviera charm.
From artisan roasters pushing the boundaries of modern coffee to classic brasseries that have served celebrities for decades, Cannes has it all. Prepare your taste buds for a journey through rich espressos, creamy cappuccinos, and perhaps a few of the best croissants you will ever taste. Here is our curated selection of the absolute best cafés in Cannes right now.

My brother took me to this place after our late brunch, and the coffee barista was so friendly and talkative. He looks like our old friend from uni.
Overall, it’s such a cosy and unique little place. Sitting outside, enjoying the sunshine with a good coffee, was just perfect. ☕️☀️
Abdulrahman Bafaraj★★★★☆
Nice specialty coffee spot with a relaxed atmosphere.
Ordered the Cold Brew Tonic (€7.00) and a Pistachio Apolline (€2.50). The Cold Brew Tonic was refreshing and perfect for a warm day. The Pistachio Apolline was okay, but nothing special — not something I would specifically recommend.
Good coffee quality and a nice place to stop by while exploring Cannes.
Overall: Worth visiting for the coffee, especially the Cold Brew Tonic 👍☕️.

France no1 specialty coffee place in 2025 (European coffee trip awards). A very nice blend, very balanced. Nice atmosphere in old town Cannes. Staff were also very friendly and helpful.

A hidden gem for specialty coffee in Cannes! I visited the location near the Hilton canope and the beach ,and it was easily one of the best coffee experiences I’ve had in France.
Finding truly great coffee in Cannes isn’t always easy, but this place absolutely delivers. The coffee was exceptional—rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared.
What made the experience even better was the service. The barista was incredibly friendly, took the time to explain the different coffee varieties, and recommended a particular coffee that ended up being absolutely delicious.
If you’re a coffee lover and looking for quality specialty coffee in Cannes, I highly recommend this place. Great coffee, great service, and an experience I’ll definitely come back for.

Delicious coffee prepared with high attention to detail! Hands down best one we had in Cannes.
On the pricy side (5.5€ for a flat white) but totally worth it!

One of the best places to get a coffee in all of Cannes, and a true Italian gem. The sheer number of items they’re able to produce in this little stand is a testament to their genius! A sleeper hit is the juice menu, each blend is only 6 euros, quite a bit cheaper than either juice stand at Marché Forville. They blend the juice with ice so it’s somewhere between a smoothie and a cold pressed juice. That and the noisette are my favorites.
Bartek Niebrzydowski★★★★★
This was our daily stop for delicious coffee. I highly recommend this place. Great service.

Tugged away but right off the busy area. A tiny gem of authentic Italian coffee and pastry/cookie. It’s busy cos it’s good but it’s nice to have a great coffee at the right price!
Hedda Chedda★★★★★
Yes please. I came here every morning during my stay in Cannes and this is the most comfortable I've ever been ordering from and then drinking my espresso at an Italian walk up bar.
When I stopped by at a smidge after 7 on my last day, the apricot croissant I had was still warm.
The espresso was so tasty for this lukewarm coffee lover. However, I love a good shot of it when I'm in Italy and this place is the real deal in France. I purchased a pack of 10 Nespresso compatible pods with the hope of recreating my experience at home.

Lollocaffee: A Wonderful, Cozy, and Unpretentious Espresso Coffee Bar
Located just 100 feet off the square, Lollocaffee is a delightful walk-up coffee bar that offers a warm and friendly atmosphere. The service is always welcoming, and the coffee is top-notch, making it a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts. Moreover, the prices are very reasonable, making it accessible to everyone.
The café has a modest yet diverse selection of beverages, including a variety of coffee drinks, juices, waters, teas, and fun concoctions, alongside a variety of small pastries. If Lollocaffee doesn't have the pastry you want, there is a pastry shop 25ft away. ~Whether you're looking for a quick dash or prefer to savor your drink at the bar, they have you covered. For those who choose to stay and enjoy their beverage at the bar, the coffee is thoughtfully served in a ceramic cup with a saucer and spoon, providing an authentic experience (my preference).
While seating isn't available, it adds to the charm of this walk-up coffee bar. For American readers unfamiliar with this concept, imagine a well-stocked, fixed lemonade stand staffed by a friendly young man and woman tucked away in a busy small alley filled with modest, touristy retail shops.
During my visits, I opted to enjoy my café crème at the bar. I observed a steady stream of Italians (or Italian speakers) visiting Lollocaffee. They would greet the proprietor, order an espresso, exchange brief conversations with each other and the owner, and then swiftly drink their shot before bidding farewell and strolling down the alley. The quick turnover of guests meant there was always a lively atmosphere, and within minutes, another customer would fill the vacant spot at the bar.
These two photos should give you a glimpse of the ambiance at Lollocaffee. If you appreciate a pleasant, convenient coffee experience, this is the place to be for 2 or 20 minutes.
Overall, Lollocaffee offers an opportunity to enjoy good coffee at a reasonable price in a charming and lively setting. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast or a curious traveler, this walk-up coffee bar is worth a visit.

Excellent coffee. The roast is very well done and I studied the brewing techniques, they know what they are doing. If you want a coffee experience as good as it gets, you will not go wrong with this place. I chose the "Coffees of Excellence" with V60, it did not disappoint.

Super nice coffee shop where youcan buy a great selection of coffees and teas to take away.
I finally was able to buy Turkish coffee.
Also very nice and good quality equipments.
…and just a little added benefit it was really cool music playing.

We just discovered this café by accident, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. The place is very nice, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The coffee drinks are absolutely delicious, with a variety of options including Frappuccinos, regular cappuccinos, and different teas. Each drink was flavorful and aromatic, making it a treat for the senses.
The breakfast options were phenomenal, adding to the overall experience. The sitting area outside was quite hot, but the location of the café is fantastic, making it a pleasant spot to relax. The staff was very friendly and polite, enhancing the welcoming ambiance.
The drinks we tried – two different teas, orange juice, a Frappuccino, and a regular cappuccino – were all excellent. If you're looking for a beautiful place to sit, relax, and enjoy delicious beverages, this café is highly recommended. I will definitely come back next time we visit Cannes.
Denis Nek★★★★☆
I'll be honest. €6 for a cup of tea with macaron is okay for Europe. But for that money I expect to have a rich selection of Chinese and Taiwanese teas from last season's harvest.
Instead for my question of available oolongs I had to drink a very Western-ish version of it called Milky Oolong.
Most of the teas here are flavoured so a good tourist place not for aficionados
Judik Junior★★★★★
Very good place to try different teas and coffees. There are too many choices... I tried cake and tea. Serving good, very delicious tea and cake. Nice atmosphere..

Amazing specialty coffee spot with a stunning view! The coffee was genuinely high quality and the breakfast options were quick, fresh, and perfect for a light morning stop. The view is absolutely incredible and makes the whole experience even better.
A special shoutout to the barista who prepared our coffee — he was Romanian, super friendly, and created such a great vibe. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended if you want great coffee and an unforgettable view!
Vasilisa Premudraya★★★★★
A big thank u to the owners for bringing specialty coffee to Cannes and for opening earlier than most cafes.
It’s a rare and much-appreciated combination✨
Sheyla Arango★★★★★
The best: coffee with a view. Coffee tastes great here and the view of the beach is amazing too. I enjoyed the coffee tonic. Attention is kind. There is a bathroom, and you can charge phones inside. Tables outside are for readers or just to enjoy the view. The bad thing is that I couldn't find any food after midday, only one pain au cioccolat that was good also.
Loredana Lore★★★★★
The coffee was incredible: expertly extracted, beautiful latte art, easily a 10/10. What really stood out was the service the barista even remembered our order the second time we came in. Bravo! Highly recommended.
Anastasia Zamaraeva★★★★★
No doubt, this is the best coffee in Cannes. Very friendly service, excellent coffee, and delicious pastries and snacks. My favorite spot is the one on Boulevard du Midi, with a view of the sea and the mountains. I absolutely love it. Thank you to the owners for opening such a place!

Sauvage has been on my must-visit list in Cannes since I moved here—and it definitely lived up to the hype. It was actually recommended by the owner of another brunch spot, which already set the bar high.
On my first visit, I grabbed an iced coffee to go. It was exactly what I had been searching for—almost impossible to find: a proper double espresso shaken on ice, with no extra water or milk.
The second day, we came back for brunch. The owner was incredibly friendly with everyone, creating a really welcoming atmosphere. We tried the salad and the egg muffin—both excellent and value for money.
I was a bit surprised when my iced coffee came as a cold brew, but they were more than happy to change it without hesitation.
One detail that really impressed me was that the coffee was served in a short glass, exactly as it should be. That’s how we do it in Greece (freddo espresso).
Safe to say, this is one of the best brunch spots in town. Highly recommended. Excellent job, team!
Alex Nabutovsky★★★★★
Absolutely top spot in Cannes. Everything is organic home made from scratch and the roast 5 different types of organic beans every morning. If you love the absolutely best coffee this is it. La Merzocco coffee machine is just a bonus. Coffee barista really knows her business. The owner is super friendly and always welcoming. Amazing breakfast / brunch spot. Sirniki is out of this world ! The absolutely best !!!
Daddy Is Audi★★★★★
Very great experience. The service was great, very friendly and informative. We had 3 dishes because we couldn't decide on what to get, some extras and 2 drinks and just paid over 50 Euros. For my standards that is very cheap. Next time i'll be sure to say i need some more sauce for my brioche, but other than that, everything was just on point.
Chaithra Rao★★★★★
We were looking for a good brunch spot when we arrived in Cannes and came across Cafés Sauvage and I’m so glad we did. The menu immediately stood out, and even though it was busy, we got a table after a short wait.
The smoothie bowl was hands down the best I’ve ever had. We also tried the Turkish eggs and a side of halloumi, both absolutely delicious. My daughter ordered the fried chicken and egg sandwich and devoured it in minutes, which says everything.
What really stood out was the creativity of the flavors and the variety on the menu. They were also very accommodating and customized dishes to our preferences, which we appreciated.
This meal was truly the highlight of our day at Cannes. Beautiful presentation, fantastic service, and unforgettable food. This place feels like a hidden gem and is a must visit if you’re in Cannes. We’ll definitely remember this brunch for a long time!

This is easily one of the best coffee spots in the area. Tucked into a fantastic location just moments away from the Palais, it has a lovely, inviting setup with great spots to catch some sun or relax in the shade, depending on what you prefer.
The coffee is consistently excellent, and the team handles service with a friendly, easygoing warmth that makes you feel instantly welcome. But the absolute star of the show is the resident front-of-house dog—a sweet, cute pup who greets guests and brings the absolute best vibes to the space.
Top-notch brews, a great atmosphere, and the ultimate furry greeting. Highly recommended!
Tristan Quiring★★★★★
Stopped in for some iced lattes and loved them so much we came back again later that week. Great atmosphere and friendly owner/staff! And the shop dog Wilson made the experience even better. 10/10 recommend if you’re visiting Cannes.

The cappuccino was served with cacao powder. 😕 without even asking. It is not the best coffee in Cannes, there are better places. Good croissants though, and the scramble was also ok, however looks a bit sad - no veggies on the side. Just eggs and bread. Spacious, has a lot of seatings, nice and fast service.

Possibly the best breakfast spot in Cannes. We come here pretty often and everytime it gets better. Staff is amazing, super friendly and helpful to acommodate your needs. Food and drinks are excellent. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a great meal and a lovely atmosphere/
Leon Lulaj★★★★★
Great atmosphere, excellent coffee, and delicious pastries. We were there with our kids and they were immediately given a coloring book with pencils, which was a really nice touch. 5 out of 5 stars — just a bit on the expensive side.
Vasilisa Premudraya★★★★☆
The main advantage is its convenient opening hours.
Everything else is fairly average. The view over the port is lovely, and the service is friendly and efficient.
Beyond that, the experience feels rather ordinary. It’s a pleasant spot for a coffee or breakfast, but not somewhere I would go out of my way to revisit.

Great coffee stop in Cannes.
Ordered a single espresso and a cinnamon roll (brioche style). The coffee was smooth and well balanced, while the cinnamon roll was so soft it practically melted in your mouth.
Simple, cozy atmosphere with quality coffee and pastries done right.
Overall: Highly recommended for a good coffee and one of the softest cinnamon rolls I’ve had 👍☕️🥐.

For the 15€ breakfast I‘d like to have a bit more of the egg, but in general the plate was tasty and saturating. Coffee is superb - creamy and simply good.
Sheyla Arango★★★★☆
The best: coffee. Coffee is great here. Capuccino was big and tasty. Pastries also seemed to be great but I could not say the same about the salads though. I tried a tuna salad, that was super cold and not that good. Environment inside is cool, you can even charge phones upstairs. There is a big couch if you want to rest a bit while drinking coffee or eating. Bathrooms are cleaned.

Visited there several times during our vacation. We kept coming back cause we really enjoyed the food. There are different types of sourdough breads, all are very tasty and unique. They have good sandwiches, nice salads and really good patties.

An absolutely beautiful breakfast experience! ☀️✨
The atmosphere at Armani/Caffè was elegant, relaxing, and full of charm. Sitting under the umbrellas surrounded by palm trees and sunshine felt like a little escape into luxury.

What a surprise! Didn’t had high expectations coming in, assumed that this would be more about the name/style than food/service! But so wrong! Everything we ordered from the club sandwich to the pastries to the coffee were amazing and delicious! Service was very helpful and professional! Location is amazing right at the ocean front drive in Cannes! You and the ocean are just separate by a road. Overall we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend this place for their breakfast/lunch and delicious and fabulously looking desserts!

Well… we felt much unappreciated as customers by the caffe manager! Our story. We popped in to have a glass of Champagne. Which we did and at some point we saw a group of 6 customers are queuing to get in and personnel is struggling to manage tables. So we offered that we can change our table and free a good spot for others waiting to get in. Waitress was super-happy and kind, we relocated a a group of 6 was seated. We were offered by waitresses complementary champagne for our kindness. However-when we accepted the offer and were ready, we were rejected by Caffe Manager. Shame on you, oh @Armani Caffe Cannes Mr. Manager!
Laura Pariso★★★★☆
Had a lovely afternoon tea here. I waited about 20 minutes, which isn’t surprising since it’s always busy. Their menu is huge—14 pages, so it feels more like a full restaurant than just a café. The food is decent, but they were out of quite a few items I wanted, so I ended up just getting a pastry and a coffee. Still, I absolutely love their aesthetic.

Very good coffee.
The matcha was average.
The menu perfectly reflects the global trend of popular urban cafés.
Due to the lack of real competition in Cannes, the place is almost always crowded. The tables are positioned so close together that you’re practically touching other guests.

A taste of home in Cannes. Being originally from Dubai, Saddle was a familiar and welcome find during the trip.
Ordered the Avocado Toast (€15) and a Piccolo (€6). The avocado toast was fresh, light, and packed with flavor, while the Piccolo was smooth and perfectly balanced — exactly the quality I’ve come to expect from Saddle.
Overall: Great coffee, fresh food, and a little piece of Dubai on the French Riviera ☕🥑🇦🇪.
Ceylan Köstüre★★★★☆
It was very crowded and noisy when we got there but luckily we didn't have to wait long before we got seated. Both the Spanish Latte and the Matcha Latte were good. The Avocado Toast tasted a bit plain and wasn't very filling but the Croissant was really good and tasteful.

With the theme of Harry Potter this little restaurant is a gem. With friendly service and a great ambiance, the only thing that can top it off is the fantastic food. If you're in Cannes and you're a Harry Potter fan, or if you just want to have a good brunch, I highly recommend trying Elixirs et Sorcellerie.

One of the best breakfast spots in Cannes! The food is excellent, but what truly makes it special is the service is absolutely flawless. The whimsical Harry Potter inspired decor is a fun bonus, even if you’re not a fan.

Essential Tips for Enjoying Cafés in Cannes
Understanding the local etiquette and timing can drastically improve your café experience in Cannes. The French Riviera operates on a different clock than many other major cities, and knowing when to go, where to sit, and how to order will help you blend in seamlessly. Whether you are looking for a quick caffeine hit or a leisurely afternoon of watching the world go by, these practical tips will ensure you get the most value and enjoyment out of your visit.
1. Mind the Pricing Structure (The Counter vs. The Terrace)
In Cannes, the price of your coffee often depends on where you choose to drink it. Standing or sitting at the bar (le comptoir) is significantly cheaper than sitting at a table. Furthermore, sitting on the terrace—especially those with views of the Croisette or the marina—incurs a premium "service" charge. Always check the menu board before sitting down to avoid sticker shock; you are paying for the real estate and the view as much as the beverage.
2. Coffee is for Mornings, Not After Dinner
Unlike in the United States or Australia, where a cappuccino is common at any time of day, in France, milky coffees like the café crème or cappuccino are strictly breakfast or mid-morning drinks. If you order a cappuccino after lunch or dinner, you will likely receive a strange look. After a meal, the correct order is a café noir (espresso) or a noisette (espresso with a dash of milk).
3. Do Not Expect Fast Service
The café culture in Cannes is about leisure. Waiters do not rush you, and you should not expect them to rush either. If you need the bill (l’addition), you usually have to ask for it; bringing the check unprompted is considered rude as it implies you want the customer to leave. Take your time, enjoy your drink, and catch the server’s eye when you are ready to pay.
4. Look for the "Fait Maison" Label
To ensure you are getting the best pastries and food, look for the term "fait maison" (homemade) on menus. Many tourist-heavy cafés import frozen pastries, which can be disappointing. The best spots on our list take pride in baking their own viennoiseries or sourcing them from local artisan bakers. If the croissant looks pale and uniform, skip it; if it is golden, flaky, and irregular, you have found a winner.
5. Tap Water is a Right, Not a Favor
Staying hydrated in the Mediterranean heat is vital. In France, it is perfectly acceptable and legal to ask for a carafe d’eau (a pitcher of tap water) alongside your coffee or meal. You do not need to buy bottled water, which is often heavily marked up in tourist zones. Asking for a carafe will save you money and is a sign of a savvy traveler.
The café scene in Cannes offers a unique window into the soul of the Riviera, balancing the opulence of the coast with the simple pleasure of a well-made drink. Whether you choose a historic institution on the Croisette or a modern specialty roaster tucked away on a side street, you are participating in a ritual that has fueled the city’s artists, filmmakers, and dreamers for generations.
As you explore these venues, remember that the best café is not always the most famous one, but the one that feels right for the moment you are in. Take your time, savor the flavors, and soak in the atmosphere of one of the world’s most beautiful coastal cities. Bonne dégustation!
