Strasbourg is a city where French culinary finesse meets hearty Alsatian tradition, and while choucroute and tarte flambée often steal the spotlight, the city’s steak scene deserves serious attention. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, closing a business deal, or simply craving a perfectly seared cut of beef, the capital of Europe offers a surprisingly diverse range of steakhouses. From classic French bistros serving peppercorn sauces to modern Argentinian grills and American-style smokehouses, there is a cut for every preference.
Navigating the dining landscape here requires knowing the difference between a traditional entrecôte and a massive côte de bœuf meant for sharing. The best establishments in Strasbourg pride themselves on sourcing premium breeds, such as Charolais, Simmental, or Angus, and aging their meat to perfection. Moreover, the ambiance matters just as much as the marbling; you will find everything from rustic, timber-framed winstubs to sleek, contemporary dining rooms near the European Parliament.
In this guide, we have curated a list of the 15 best steakhouses in Strasbourg to help you cut through the noise. We evaluated these restaurants based on meat quality, cooking precision, sauce craftsmanship, wine lists, and consistency of service. You won’t find tourist traps here; instead, we focus on places that locals trust when they want a truly memorable beef experience.
Whether you prefer your filet rare and served with a robust red wine reduction or you are looking for a smoky, flame-grilled ribeye, this list has you covered. We also considered variety, including venues that offer halal options, South American influences, and classic French preparations. Each recommendation is designed to satisfy a specific craving or dining scenario.
Before we dive into the specific addresses and house specialties, it is worth noting that reservations are highly recommended, particularly on weekends and during the festive Christmas market season. Steakhouses in Strasbourg tend to be intimate and in high demand, so booking ahead ensures you get a table at your desired time.
Here is our curated selection of the top venues currently grilling, roasting, and searing the best steaks in the city.

Good to Know:
Medium quality steak and food
Quality & quantity vs price isn't good
Friendly service
No private parking

Later edit, answer to owner comment:
Go check how much I paid and then you do the math.
The waitress asked me if I wanted to be offered the price as a gesture, what I should have said, let me eat the plastic first?!
The skin of the chorizo is edible in most cases, not the plastic I found in what you served.
I ate less than half not 3/4 and left the restaurant hungry 🙂 If you're really curious I didn't see the plastic because I was hungry and discussed with my colleague.
___
My experience with them was really bad and I don't recommend it.
Ordered a burger, ate little less than half and found lots of plastic from the salami skin or whatever. I told the waitress, they went back and forth to the kitchen and came back telling me that it's not a problem, I can remove it myself. Being disgusted by the answer and the fact that I ate plastic wrapping said that this is not normal. Then she asked if I wanted to not pay for it, didn't hesitate and I confirmed. Then the chef comes and says that I ate half and I have to pay half and he took the plate.
They did not offer a solution, a way to sort this out normally, instead I was not charged half the price of the burger but 60%. .
The burger was mediocre and expensive.
I will let you draw the conclusion

Stumbled upon this place quite by chance and ended up being blown away. Good service. Friendly staff. Simple menu; quality-driven dishes. I've eaten a lot of beef carpaccio. Theirs is the best I've had. Somehow their burrata is also better than any Burrata I've tasted in Italy. It's to die for. Highly recommended.

2 stars for a good service.
I am questioning the quality and hygiene of the food because for 2 days straight after this meal I have problems with my stomach..This is the only different food I ate and therefore, I’m sure it’s because of that, unfortunately. In addition the steak was very hard and overcooked. Sorry for the bad review but I want to warn people..

A beautiful Resturant is the center of Strasbourg. Food is above average, the waitresses are nice and the restaurant is clean. Value for the price. The food tastes good, but I think there should be more side dishes. Outdoor area is not always available. Recommended. The food in the photos for 132 euros including 5 soft drinks.

Good steak restaurant and medium price range. Had sirloin steak which were cooked as ordered, and French fries that were crunchy but maybe in to many small pieces. All listed wines were sold by the glass and ended with a good ice cream.
Good choice for a casual evening out and a craving for meat.
Located in the shopping street with nice outside serving without motor traffic close by.

Absolutely fantastic place. Delicious burgers, fine wine and the Fischer de Noël is one of the best beers I've ever had. I do not recommend the 6 meat thing though - first, it's not 6 - 2nd it is quite a small portion.
Prices are very reasonable. They do not do table reservations, but on a Saturday late afternoon, it wasn't necessary at all. Located in the heart of Strasbourg.

I had the salmon here and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked with a rich, flavorful glaze. The presentation was beautiful, and every detail felt well thought out. The restaurant itself has such a stylish and cozy atmosphere, making it a great place for a relaxed yet refined dinner. Definitely one of the nicest dining experiences I’ve had in Strasbourg! 🍷🐟✨

Le Petit Beefbar Strasbourg is a stylish and modern steakhouse located by the river, and it’s a great spot for a nice dinner, date night, or special occasion.
The interior is chic, elegant, and a bit art-deco style. The atmosphere feels upscale but still relaxed. Sitting near the window is very nice because of the river view.
They specialize in premium beef and steakhouse dishes.
Service is generally good and professional, but when the restaurant is busy, it can be a bit slow.
Good for a nice dinner, date night, birthday, or celebration.
If you are looking for good steak and nice vibes, this place is worth trying.

If I were the chef, I’d have a lot to discuss with the front of the house.
Excellent food. Poor service. I fear the restaurant is understaffed. The two tables in front of us left within moments of our start. For the entirety of our dinner (nearly 2 hours) one was left dirty and unattended. It was 35 minutes after we sat before we were asked for drink orders. In that time, we watched the servers stand around and chat and step outside for periods of time. Not to mention, we were not given all of the menus to begin with. We were never brought water after asking twice. Finally, we had to ask 3 times (the same server) for our check.
The food is the saving grace of this place. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it’s one of the best meals I’ve eaten in months. The beef carpaccio was unique in its flavors and additions. The steak frites was cooked well and flavorful (would recommend the pepper sauce over the signature Beef Bar sauce). And, finally, the veal milanese (New York style) was like a perfect veal parmesan.
Everything we ate was exceptional. The service left a lot to be desired. Seemed odd for a franchise that is established all over the world. Maybe it’s just this Beef Bar. Maybe it’s all of them. Regardless, there is a glaring discrepancy between the unimpressive work being done in the front of the house and the exceptional work being done in the kitchen.

Have been desperate to take my partner to Beefbar ever since I visited the Paris location in 2020, and Strasbourg certainly didn’t disappoint. We had great and knowledgable service from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic about the food, and had great banter. The food was exceptional, in the top five steaks we’ve had, if not the the top one. Every side, starter & dessert was fantastic. The cocktail was so beautifully presented and expertly made. The location is gorgeous, a beautiful art deco theme. We really enjoyed our time here & look forward to visiting again.

My wife and I had lunch here a week ago. She had the crying tiger steak and I had steak frites. Both were excellent! Great service too! Our server apologize for his english, but it was so much better than our french. Really appreciate the effort! 👏
We live close by and we'll be frequently this restaurant. Highly recommend!
Amber Charlton★☆☆☆☆
We attended during our holiday and left feeling quite upset.
We were having a lovely time till a French couple sat next to us and we realised we were not getting the same service. I understand if there is a language barrier but the waiter spoke very good English. We were not given a choice of tables compared to French speaking customers. We were also not asked if our food was okay half way through the meal and wasn’t asked if we wanted more sauce unlike the french couple next to us who ordered the same thing. We were also offended when two waiters were whispering to each other while holding our food and then served us straight after, making us feel like they were talking about us. It overall made us feel quite uncomfortable and ruined our evening unfortunately.
The food was good at times and mediocre at others. Our starter of quesadillas was amazing however the steak was not cooked medium as requested, more well done and therefore was disappointing. The dessert of soufflé was lovely.
Overall we left feeling quite let down.

There is a really good Christmas buffet: truffle omelette, fois gras, beef tataki and carpaccio.
Good quality, good food, always full of all dishes.
Eat well! Highly recommend.
They also provide many varieties of cakes and sweet : tiramisu, cream caramel, etc.
It was a bit pity, that they served steak 1hour after the buffet started and I had diarrhea in the afternoon….
Bedri Sadiku★☆☆☆☆
Huge disappointment. We were a group of 12 and were really looking forward to a nice evening, but the food didn’t taste good at all. The service seemed completely overwhelmed, orders were chaotic, and the waiting times were extremely long.
The highlight: we were asked to keep the noise down – which is quite unreasonable for a group of this size. That really ruined the evening for us.
With a total bill of well over €1000, this was absolutely unacceptable. No tip and definitely not recommended.
“Response to your reply”
Your account is inaccurate.
The receipt clearly shows minimal alcohol consumption — no “intoxicated” group. Instead of addressing valid criticism (long wait times, overwhelmed service), you shift the blame onto your guests.
A bit more self-reflection would be appropriate.

We are visiting from Australia and don’t speak French, Alexandre’s service was top notch - he made sure we were comfortable with the menu and explained everything well, he was also very knowledgeable and friendly. To top it off the food was excellent. 5 star experience all round!

My bride and I had a wonderful dinner here while on a trip exploring Christmas markets.
The food was awesome, although the steaks we ordered medium rare were closer to rare (still delicious though). This is actually something we have experienced across Europe in many many restaurants. It doesn't really bother us, but I only mention it as a heads-up to others who may want to order their steaks medium, if they are used to the more American style of medium rare.
The service was great up until we were trying to pay- it took forever to track down our host and actually get the check. It's a minor annoyance that would certainly not preclude us from going back or recommending it to others.
We plan to visit the city in the summer in the future and will certainly be back.

Nestled in the middle of nowhere, this restaurant in Strasbourg is a destination for serious meat lovers. The quality of the meat cuts is exceptional, with a variety that travels across the world. Each cut expertly prepared and full of flavor.
The wine list is well-curated and complements the meat properly. What really impressed me was their rum selection: an impressive range from premium, expensive bottles to budget-friendly offerings that cater to all tastes and wallets.
The staff is both kind and competent, clearly knowledgeable about their offerings and passionate about what they serve.
Fair warning: the choices we made inflated our final bill substantially, but that is exclusively our responsibility 😅
The quality justifies the pricing, and it is very easy to get carried away with such excellent options available.

Delicious food with nice portions. A bit on the pricier side. The overall feeling in the restaurant is not a good one. It’s an open floor plan and you feel a bit “naked”. There isn’t any partition between tables on the main hall for a little more privacy with your conversation. Otherwise recommended.

From the moment we arrived, the entire experience was exceptional. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, with a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. The lighting, décor, and overall ambience created an ideal setting for a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
The quality of the food was outstanding, particularly the steak, which was cooked absolutely perfectly to order. It is rare to find a restaurant that delivers such precision, but every element was executed flawlessly. The menu was explained in detail by the staff, who were incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the food and drink they were serving. Their recommendations were excellent and made the experience feel far more personal.
One of the standout touches was the wine service. The restaurant offers an impressively wide wine collection, and the staff thoughtfully provided a generous tasting portion before serving, which added a refined and professional touch to the evening. The beer selection was equally impressive, with a variety of high quality options that complemented the meal perfectly.
The portion sizes throughout were excellent and represented fantastic value for money, especially considering the overall quality of both the food and service. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the level of hospitality. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, well looked after, and genuinely enjoying ourselves throughout the evening. Nothing felt rushed, and every interaction was warm, attentive, and professional.
Overall, this is a steakhouse that delivers on every level: exceptional food, an outstanding drinks selection, excellent prices, and truly first class service. It is clear that customer experience is a priority here, and it made for a memorable evening from start to finish. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a premium dining experience with a welcoming and personal touch.

INCREDIBLE MEAT! We ordered the special aged meats, for a minimum of 2 people, and the mix was incredible tasty. With it also came unlimited sauces and sides, which was very helpful.
We asked for a good wine pairing and were able to taste test 3 ones, then ordered a bottle of the one we liked the most.
The service was incredible. Very on point, free water, and good air conditioning in the heat.
I highly recommend going for the special, it is worth it!
Also, I have to mention the music is amazing. Great picks all around.

The steak is made from quite a low quality beef, about third were hymen and veins; the game (wildfowl) was quite ok-ish, but mostly because of the sauce served with some tasteless pieces of daugh; the blood sausage was the only good thing that we had. It's overpriced for this quality of food and service.

Terrific steakhouse in the heart of the Petite France area of Strasbourg. The chef here is great fun and makes everyone feel welcome. This is primarily a steak restaurant, although there are other items on the menu. Vegetarians need not bother; this place is not for you. Their signature dish is steak that is finished by being pressed with a hot flatiron. Yeah, it's a gimmick, but it's good fun. And don't even bother asking for the steak anything more than medium rare. I politely asked for medium, but it came medium rare, which was fine. It was pretty much what I expected. The menu offers a good deal of three courses for 78 euro, and the food and service are top notch. Would definitely return and very happy to recommend.

We had the absolute pleasure of having our 25th wedding anniversary dinner here last night. It’s a tiny restaurant, 9 tables, two chefs and a host. We started with beef carpaccio and fois gras, and they did not disappoint. The gave us an amouche bouche of steak tar-tar, now I have never ever liked steak tar-tar and this was delicious. We ordered the Chateau Briand for two and it was so buttery and delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough

The service was good and the staff were great. Unfortunately, the head chef needs to work on his standards, as he apparently cannot distinguish between well-done and medium meat. I was served undercooked meat, and I am now experiencing stomach issues as a result.

In contrast to other reviews, I think their food definitely worth a 5 star! The service was attentive and all the food we ordered were delicious and came in reasonable time.
The salmon was tasty and not dry at all, and the pasta that comes with cheese butter sauce was a perfect match! The steak and fries were also delicious.

On a very positive note, the service was excellent all along, everyone was very friendly although they were quite busy. I liked the decor and the casual yet funky atmosphere there. Easy to park around and it’s free but make sure to book on a weekend. I liked my crème brûlée. Now, I wasn’t too keen on the red cabbage served with pretty much all the meats. The béarnaise and the medium rare steak itself was okay. I think that’s a bit on the pricy side and I can’t help thinking I’ve had better and cheaper elsewhere, overall.

We had lunch here, I had a delicious bone marrow and the duck breast with a fusion twist. My wife went for the lunch menu, had beef tartare following the braised veal, and then the perfect ending was a glass of delicious Chartreuse vert.
Good food and service, recommended.

Fantastic late dinner. I couldn't decide so i had 2 appetizers (the marrow and ceviche). They came within 5 minutes even though the place was packed.
For dessert I also couldn't decide, but luckily there was the tea/coffee sensation, with miniature versions of three desserts. Really adorable and a great concept.
It felt like having 5 amazing miniature meals and I really loved the variety you can experience with the French portions of 'just enough'.

A pleasant restaurant. The food was really delicious. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The four of us had manti and Adana, and it was truly unique. If we are ever back in Strasbourg, we will definitely come here again. Very reasonable value for money.

Been there first time to try to food and see the place. Service is good. Friendly, talkative waiter. Although the restaurant was pretty empty most of the food was burned or not cooked properly. No spices or seasoning on the chicken. The mix meet plate got cold in 5 minutes after delivery. Photos talk for themselves. Doesn’t wort the money. Never again.

For my first time here in Straßburg i had the best experience ever. The food was amazing the service was top and the hospitality was beyond appreciated. We felt very comfortable and everyone was super friendly. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a go. Much love 🩷

The steak was divine, I have not had a decent steak like that in a long time. The food was simply delicious, I had the fillet and my partner tried the “les pides” and thoroughly enjoyed it. A beautiful restaurant, the staff were very welcoming and helpful.

I had pizza and I liked it. Service was also good.
Destina Yabasun★☆☆☆☆
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received here. From the moment I walked in, I felt completely unwelcome. The staff was rude and disrespectful, and it was obvious that there was a biased attitude toward women. This went beyond just poor service; it felt personal and unprofessional.
The food was equally disappointing. It was poorly prepared, lacked flavor, and was clearly made with no care or attention. For the price, I expected far better quality, but instead, I was left regretting my decision to eat here.
My questions and requests were either ignored or dismissed with an arrogant attitude, while I noticed male customers were treated much more politely. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable in any service-oriented business.
On top of that, the overall service was terrible: long waiting times, unclear communication, and a complete lack of willingness to solve any issues. The entire experience was uncomfortable and frustrating, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
If this is the standard this business operates by, I strongly suggest they invest in training and awareness programs to address their toxic and discriminatory culture. Until then, I will never return, and I strongly advise others to stay away as well.

Fantastic food and service at this restaurant.
One of the best meals we’ve had in a while.
The egg parfait Parmesan soup with chanterelles is next level and I literally am still dreaming about it.
They grill the meat on the fireplace with skill.

The food was exceptional. It was absolutely delicious - two dishes for each of us, all tasty and delivered to perfection. Because we went on a weekday, it was a bit empty, so it was not as lively as expected, but the food was one of the best I’ve had in recent weeks/months.

We had the beef rib and it was perfect tender and delicious. Everything else was just as good, and we would definitely eat here again. The value for the quantity and quality of the food was definitely worth it.

I ate at this restaurant with my wife and son. We definitely enjoyed our food and the experience as whole. It's a sort of all-you-can-eat buffet and we got to eat different kinds of meat and seafood (chicken wings and breast, beef, lamb, mergez sausages, shrimp and salmon). Everything was delicious. The service staff were really friendly and prompt. I highly recommend.
Rodrigo de Souza★★★★☆
I'm going start with the downsides. The place does not serve alcoholic beverages (which would be ok if I knew it beforehand) and they definitely don't know how to cut the meat (larger knives would solve half of the problem, it is hard to cut picanha using a knife designed to peel oranges). That said, the place is lovely, very quiet, the staff was very attentive, the meats served tasted very good (the chicken wings were SUPER TASTY), all for a honest price. As a Brazilian I can say that, apart from the knives (seriously guys, it's not that hard 😂) it was an experience pretty close to a Brazilian churrascaria. I definitely recommend.
Very very Berry★★★★☆
We like it
We were there with our family. The location is next to the warehouse of Amazon and a bit hidden.
But other than that we had a great time. Food was tasty but bit pricey. Unfortunately they have no feijão (the traditional Brasilian soup). You can eat as much as you want.
Stuff is friendly.
Wagner Varison★★☆☆☆
I am Brazilian, and this restaurant has nothing to do with a Brazilian restaurant. First there is no beans, rice, farofa or guaraná. What they call picanha, it is not even the real cut and it tastes horrible (they cooked with spices instead of rock salt only). I never seen chicken with cheese (no chicken with bacon) or salmon in a Brazilian steak house. The chicken sausage is also bad. If you had the real Brazilian experience, you will agree with me.
Younes Khan★☆☆☆☆
It’s not Brazilian Resturant, “I recently dined at and was thoroughly disappointed with the food. The dishes were bland, poorly cooked, and lacked any creativity. It felt like a complete waste of money. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience.”
Essential Tips for Choosing the Perfect Steakhouse in Strasbourg
While having a list of excellent restaurants is a great start, knowing how to navigate the menu and local customs will elevate your dining experience significantly. Strasbourg sits at the crossroads of French and German culinary traditions, which means the terminology and preparation styles might differ slightly from what you are used to in an American or British steakhouse. Understanding these nuances will help you order with confidence and ensure you get exactly the doneness and flavor profile you desire.
- Understand the French Doneness Scale: French cooking temperatures run differently than in many other countries. If you usually order "medium rare," you should ask for saignant (literally "bloody"), which corresponds to a warm red center. À point translates to medium, but it often comes out closer to medium-well by American standards. If you want a true rare steak, ask for bleu, which means the center is nearly raw and cool.
- Look for French Breeds: While Angus and Wagyu are popular, don’t miss the opportunity to try native French cattle. Look for Bœuf de Charolles (Charolais) or Limousine on the menu. These breeds are known for their lean yet deeply flavorful meat, offering a distinctly different texture and taste compared to grain-fed American beef.
- Embrace the Sauces: In France, the sauce is often as important as the steak itself. While you can certainly order a plain steak, trying a classic Sauce au Poivre (black pepper cream), Sauce Béarnaise, or a local Pinot Noir reduction will complete the experience. Ask your server if the sauce is made in-house; this is usually a marker of a high-quality kitchen.
- Consider the "Côte de Bœuf" for Two: If you are dining with a companion, look for Côte de bœuf on the menu. This is a thick-cut, bone-in rib steak usually weighing between 1kg and 1.2kg, designed to be shared. It is typically carved tableside and is often the best value and most impressive item on a French steakhouse menu.
- Pair with Alsace, Not Just Bordeaux: While a robust Bordeaux or Rhône red is a classic pairing, do not overlook the local wines. A structured Alsatian Pinot Noir or even a full-bodied Pinot Gris can cut through the richness of a fatty steak beautifully. This is a great way to drink locally and discover how versatile Alsace wines can be with red meat.
The beauty of the steakhouse scene in Strasbourg lies in its ability to bridge the gap between rustic tradition and modern gastronomy. Whether you find yourself in a cozy cellar in Petite France or a chic brasserie near Place Kléber, the commitment to quality protein remains constant. A great steak dinner here is not just about the beef; it is about the crusty bread used to soak up the juices, the crisp green salad that cuts the richness, and the unhurried pace of a meal shared with good company.
Ultimately, the best steakhouse for you depends on the atmosphere you seek and the cut you crave. Use this guide as your starting point, but don’t be afraid to ask your server for their personal recommendation. In a city that values hospitality as much as Strasbourg does, you are likely to discover a new favorite dish that keeps you coming back for more.
