This guide focuses on the independent and beloved institutions that define Strasbourg’s quick-dining culture.

Navigating the city’s culinary offerings can be overwhelming, especially when you want something fast but refuse to sacrifice flavor. Strasbourg excels at offering portable gastronomy, including the iconic tarte flambée served in a folded "flammekueche" style, gourmet burgers with Alsatian cheeses, and some of the best doner kebab in France. These are the meals that keep the city moving.

In this curated guide, we have analyzed local favorites, ingredient quality, and consistency to bring you the definitive list of must-try fast food spots. We have skipped the generic global chains to highlight the places that offer a true taste of Alsace without the wait of a sit-down restaurant. Understanding the local palate is key to appreciating these spots. Really solid halal fast food option in Metz. The bread and sauce were probably the highlights for me. Both were really tasty, and everything tasted fresh. The smashed burger itself was good, but my only real criticism is that the meat was smashed far too thin. It became extremely crispy to the point where you almost lose the actual flavour and texture of the beef. If I came back, I would definitely ask for it to be smashed less, if possible. The fries were decent and the chicken was nice too, although personally I preferred the burger. I’ve had better burgers elsewhere, but overall it was still enjoyable. Prices are pretty reasonable compared with the usual fast food chains, it felt cleaner and fresher, and the fact that it’s halal is a big bonus. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the area and want some quick halal fast food. Just don’t overdo the smash on the burger.

Disaster. I ordered a simple burger. After 5 minutes, nothing happened. After 10 minutes, still nothing. When I went to the counter to ask about my order, the employee was rude. When I finally received my burger, it looked completely ruined. To make matters worse, the tables were dirty and had clearly not been cleaned. One of the worst McD experience I’ve ever had.

We were very excited about our visit, especially because there was such a wide variety of options—similar to what we are used to in Germany. Everything we tried was delicious, and the service was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. One highlight was the opportunity to participate in a tasting, where we could try a new ice cream and share our opinion. It was a fun and engaging experience, and the ice cream was truly delicious. Overall, we were very happy with the entire experience and would gladly return.

It’s my third time here and I have to say the service is actually quite good for most of the time but due to amount of crowd the staffs can be impatient and aggressive against non-French speakers. The atmosphere strongly depends on the crowd. Never expect good ambient at a fast food chain near the main train stations 🫠

Was waiting for 20 min for my order, then they asked me to go out to picky order from outside, and guy said wait for other bc they were already in line. I have been waiting already and I was the first. No respect, bad service, never again.

Food was good. The croissant 🥐 is dead almost and request for an heat up but luckily they don’t have oven to preheat it 🤪. Spend some money to buy that.

Delicious and fresh made to order chicken meals. I had wings and tenders and enjoyed every piping hot bite. The fries don’t look like much but was also crispy, hot and yummy. PS: The setup is strange. Smash burgers and Saiko Chicken. You can order at the Smash burgers shop only and the food comes from the Saiko kitchen next door. There is no doorway connecting the two shops so the servers / cook, brings through the orders through the front door of Smash.
TheMarant2★★★★☆
Very good fried chicken. Tried the Poulet Entier (Whole Chicken) and it was very well made, and the fries were also great. The takeaway packaging is also well thought out because it keeps the chicken warm for a very long time. You will wait around 10-15min for your order because there aren't many people working there. They also fry it when you make your order, so you get it is fresh, hot, and tasty.

Great customer service with superb food quality, waiting time isn't too long and the prices are decent. Although it's worth the crispy crunchy chicken, and certified halal too. I do recommend.

First place I walked in on my visit to Strasbourg and I got greeted by 3 very warm and friendly people. We talked about our culture and national foods while my meal was prepared. Very good vibes. The meal is 9 euro, includes fries, wrap and soda and it was very tasty and filling. Definitely a good budget dinner or big lunch. Thank you very much for the warm welcome.

Was really good, large and the guy was super nice. However at the time they couldn't take card so be prepared with some cash. Definitely worth the price!

The best chicken burger truly lives up to its name. A perfect spot for a cheap and cheerful meal. The owner is also a true gentleman, great conversation and a very kind person.

Very tasty food. Friendly staff who take pride in their work. Definitely recommend for an after beer meal or a satisfying great value dinner! Come here for a good experience!
Harun Ahmed★☆☆☆☆
Food- Not tasty, cold and they don’t feel fresh. But low cost though. So if you’re willing to compromise quality a bit for price , you can go ahead. Service- Not very professional in terms of communication and it seemed not all customers are treated equally. Atmosphere - Noisy and uncomfortable inside. Either you eat in the terrace, which is good, or you try takeaway.

I bought a box of tenders that was supposed to have 20 pieces, but I only received 16. I'd recommend counting your pieces or ordering two separate 10-piece boxes instead. It could just be a mistake, but missing 4 pieces is quite a lot. The food tasted great, which is why I gave it a second star, but the overall experience mattered. Also, the AC was on but it felt quite warm and humid inside—though to be fair, there is a heatwave going on right now, which is understandable.

We have eaten here on two different occasions. Both times food was excellent and the staff was so helpful! We've had the chicken sandwich in the chicken wings both were really good!

Fried chicken in a burrito wrap. It was good. I think it might have been tastier without the slice of cheese. About the same quality as you’d find in a KFC chicken tender wrap. The number of sauce options was good. The store was clean. One can order at a “order screen” so as to not interact with anyone.

The place is beautiful and staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. I love that you get a lot of food as well for the price. It's definitely not like other expensive restaurants and you only get a small amount of food. I am definitely going back.👌👌👌

Wonderful burgers. We were able to find a table without a reservation on Sunday. The service was very fast and attentive. There was a small mistake with our order, but it was quickly fixed, which we really appreciated. If you’re craving a burger in Strasbourg, this is the place to go.
Andreea Glavan★★★★★
We found this place totally by mistake and were truly blessed to make such a mistake :)) The burgers were fresh, perfectly made, and very tasty. We had a Vintage Cheeseburger, a Golden State of Mind, and a Crispy (with cornichons added extra) and all three were delicious! We also ordered only one portion of Creamy fries for all 3 of us and that was more than enough, as the fries portion is huge. For drinks, we had a Pilsner and a Blanche, and they were, again, super tasty. Will definitely look for this restaurant in other French cities when visiting them! 🩷🩷

The burger was perfectly cooked and the quality of the meat was excellent. The condiments were just right. The cream fries were really good as well. The service was really friendly and quick. I tried the homemade Dr. Pepper as well and it was quite good. I recommend stopping by!

I've been around, guys and I'm a big burger fan. I spent many years in the States but these guys at PNY make the absolute best burgers in the world. Perfect recipes, incredible meat quality, and they have awesome music. My new favorite place in Strasbourg.

I had the vegan burger and it was really good. The fries were not as crispy as I had wished but other than that all nice. The staff was also friendly but not sure why there were only 2 servers because it was very busy. All burgers have the option with a vegan patty and they have a lunch combo where you get a free drink if you get a burger and fries.

After a long, grueling journey to Strasbourg, our souls were crying out for some serious comfort food. We didn’t just find a meal; we struck absolute gold. ACE Smashed Burgers is, hands down, one of the best burger experiences we’ve had—period. What sets this place apart is the obvious respect they have for their craft: • Locally & Ethically Sourced: You can taste the integrity in every bite. From the premium, ethical meat to the artisanal buns and the perfectly golden potatoes, everything feels fresh and intentional. • The Service: The team here are absolute legends. They treat you like a regular from the moment you walk in. For fellow travelers: English speakers are very welcome here, which made our experience even smoother! The "Pro-Level" Order: If you want to do it right, get the Secret Burger. Do yourself a massive favor and add the steak and cheese—it turns a great burger into a religious experience. Pair it with their local IPA (which is crisp, craft perfection) and just let the world melt away. An absolute gem of a find. If you are in Strasbourg and you aren’t eating here, you’re doing it wrong. 🍔🔥

I went here with my friends and we loved it! The burgers are authentic, they tasted really good and I was really full after eating. The price is not high and incredibly nice for students. The staff was kind and even explained us the menu. There was air conditioning but unfortunately there are no toilets.
Matthew Garcia★★★★★
Wow! Better than most burgers in the States. Clearly high quality ingredients made by passionate people. So much flavor in both the burger and fries and cooked fresh to order. All reasonably priced, too! Would return regularly if I lived nearby.
Gregg Delforge★★★★★
Had the pleasure of testing ACE when visiting Strasbourg for the weekend. The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain their story and menu (all home made). Honestly one of the best smash burgers I've had, both the bun, patty, lettuce and sauce. The combination was very tasty, and the use of high quality ingredients still kept it easy on the stomach. Would highly recommend to anyone appreciating the better burgers. They keep the place clean as well which adds to the expercience.
A M★★☆☆☆
Honestly, pretty mid. The burger was small for the price, and I was still hungry after finishing it. Not really worth the money. The decoration and vibe were also super plain and boring — nothing that makes you want to stay or come back. Definitely not my favorite spot.

We found ourselves starving around 11 PM, and with absolutely nothing open near our hotel, we decided to venture out. After a 10-minute drive, we stumbled upon this gem. We both ordered the double smash burger, and honestly, they were incredible—perfectly seared and packed with flavor. To top it off, the prices were surprisingly affordable given the quality. It was the perfect late-night savior for our hunger!

The burger was really delicious. We visited on December 31st at 10:00 p.m. 😊 While other fast-food places were extremely busy, this one wasn’t, and we were able to eat our meal within 30 minutes. Prices are affordable.

Very average. The novelty of having half a black bun doesn't make up for the mediocre food. The chips were particularly disappointing, cold and not very exciting. We also tried some of the cheese bites options... small portions and to be honest no different to any freezer type cheese bites. Plenty of better places you could visit for food. I wouldn't rate them any better than McDonald's.

The Bacon Cheeseburger was the best that i had. You can tell the meat isnt frozen before. The Bacon was crispy not like the saggy one from BK ( from their fridge) The cherry coke was also a pleasure But sadly the french fries were to long on the counter and was very saggy. I think i got the last batch And i couldnt take the cool cup home…

The worst Five Guys I have been. They were so slow. We waited more than 30 minutes for our order. They had no mayo and ketchup. They did not refill it. It was so crowded and everybody had difficulty to find a table to sit. The number of table is not enough for it. People waited standing for other people finish their meal and go so that they can sit there. The burger was good but not delicious as I tried in other countries. They gave the fries less. Normally they put many many fries but not this time. So it was not as good experience as before.
Ahmet Said Baskan★★☆☆☆
Worst five guys ever! I have been to many other locations such as Rotterdam, Antwerpen, Paris etc. This was the worst, food was cold. Bacons were burnt and meat had no taste and juice at all. It took us 25 minutes to get the meal. The soft drink machine was also broken, you could only choose between fuse tea and coca cola( I normally prefer powerade) Fries were a shame! Im a fries guy, I love fries but these were a nightmare for me. Cold served, soft, mushy and not tasty. P.s it was on new year’s day so maybe it might have affected the situation. But still for 50 euros you expect to taste something better.
Bilal★★★☆☆
From what I’ve seen online, Five Guys is a popular American burger chain that’s said to be tastier and different from more ordinary fast-food places. I’d watched many videos and wanted to give it a try. The soda from the machine tasted just like regular cola—nothing special, but still good. We paid around 5 euros each just for the drinks, which I found quite expensive. The fries were better compared to some other fast food places—I chose the seasoned ones, but honestly, the seasoning was too salty for me. The burger bun was dry and fell apart just from holding it, which made eating it a bit of a challenge. I don’t think I’d choose it again. Given that it was lunchtime and the place wasn’t very busy, I probably should have taken that as a sign 😅. Maybe the Five Guys in the US is better, but I can’t say the same for this location. On the positive side, I didn’t have any issues with the staff. However, the interior was quite hot—it was at street level near the kitchen and grill area, so that may have been the reason. In fact, we felt relieved when we stepped outside into the cooler air. Overall, my experience was disappointing. We ordered one regular fries, two drinks, and two burgers and paid nearly 40 euros. That just didn’t feel worth it.
Ari Harnik★★★☆☆
This place is like any other Five Guys. Good food, lots of options, big servings. Enjoyable. Except, they are so so slow here. So much so that even on their slowest nights you could wait 30 minutes for your food. If you're coming here, make sure you have a lot of time, because Five Guys does not put the "fast" in "fast food"

Tips for Choosing the Right Fast Food in Strasbourg

Choosing where to eat quickly in a new city can be a gamble, but a few local insights can elevate your experience from average to exceptional. The fast food scene here has unwritten rules regarding timing, customization, and location that can significantly impact your meal. Use these practical tips to eat like a local and avoid common tourist traps.

1. Embrace the "Flammekueche à Emporter"
While technically a traditional dish, many bakeries and street vendors serve tarte flambée in a folded, pizza-like format designed for walking. Look for places with wood-fired ovens visible from the street. A good portable flammekueche should have a crispy, blistered crust and a creamy, smoky topping of crème fraîche, onions, and lardons. Avoid pre-made versions that have been sitting under a heat lamp.

2. Understand the Local "Tacos"
If you see a sign for "French Tacos," do not expect a Mexican corn tortilla. This is a distinctly French creation originating from the Lyon area, consisting of a grilled flour tortilla wrapped around meat, cheese sauce, and fries. In Strasbourg, these are incredibly popular with students. They are heavy, indulgent, and perfect for a late-night meal. Be sure to specify your cheese sauce preference if given the option.

3. Check the Bread Quality
Strasbourg sits on the border of Germany, meaning the bread and pretzel culture is strong. When ordering a kebab or burger, pay attention to the bun or flatbread. The best fast food spots in Strasbourg source their bread from local boulangeries daily. If the bread is soggy or flavorless, the quality of the filling rarely saves it. Look for places that toast or grill their buns to order.

4. Time Your Visit to Avoid the Rush
Strasbourg is a bustling administrative and university city. If you are visiting popular spots near Place Kléber or the Cathedral between 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM, expect long lines from office workers. To get your food faster and with more care, aim for an early lunch at 11:30 AM or a late lunch after 1:45 PM. Late-night crowds, particularly near the university, can also spike after 11:00 PM on weekends.

5. Look for Vegetarian Upgrades
While Alsace is known for pork and meat, the fast food scene in Strasbourg is surprisingly accommodating to vegetarians. Many kebab shops now offer high-quality falafel or grilled halloumi instead of just a sad pile of lettuce in a bun. Additionally, several burger joints feature Alsatian cheese like Munster as a vegetarian patty alternative. Don’t settle for a plain cheese sandwich; ask for the regional specialty options.

6. Drink Local with Your Meal
Skip the standard international soda brands occasionally and check the fridge for local beverages.
