15 Best Spas in Bordeaux

Bordeaux is synonymous with world-class wine, but the city offers another form of liquid luxury that often goes overlooked: thermal water. Between vineyard tours and riverside strolls, the "Port of the Moon" has cultivated a sophisticated wellness scene that rivals its gastronomic reputation. From vinotherapy treatments that utilize grape extracts to traditional hammams and modern biohacking clinics, the city provides a sanctuary for tired travelers and stressed locals alike.

Choosing the right spa in Bordeaux means navigating a diverse landscape of historic cellars, rooftop pools, and minimalist urban retreats. Whether you are looking to soothe sore muscles after cycling through the Médoc or you simply want a quiet afternoon away from the bustling Rue Sainte-Catherine, there is a facility tailored to your specific need. The French approach to wellness is deeply rooted in ritual, often emphasizing steam, heat, and expert massage techniques over quick fixes.

The following guide focuses on quality, authenticity, and the distinct character of each establishment. We have considered not only the treatment menus but also the atmosphere, hygiene standards, and the expertise of the therapists. In a city known for its appreciation of the finer things, these locations stand out for their commitment to genuine relaxation and physical rejuvenation.

You will find a mix of luxury hotel spas, neighborhood favorites, and specialized wellness centers. Some are located in the heart of the historic center, while others offer a peaceful escape on the outskirts of the city. Regardless of their location, each venue listed below provides a memorable experience that justifies a break from your sightseeing itinerary.

If you are planning a couple’s getaway, a solo retreat, or a corporate wellness day, Bordeaux has an option that fits. The city’s spa culture is accessible yet refined, often blending the rustic charm of the Aquitaine region with contemporary design. Prepare to discover places where the lighting is low, the aromas are intoxicating, and the only thing on your agenda is breathing deeply.

To help you curate your perfect day of pampering, we have compiled a list of the most exceptional addresses in the city. These are the places where the locals go to reset, and where visitors can experience the true meaning of the French "art de vivre." Without further delay, here are the top wellness destinations currently operating in Bordeaux.

This place is deserving of its perfect 5 star rating. This is the best massage / spa experience I have ever had. I do not always find facilities in Bordeaux very clean and this place is spotless. Everyone working there is friendly and kind. I have a massage from oceane and it was fabulous. I was sad when it ended and will be back soon. If i could give it 100 stars I would.

I have had thousands and thousands of massages. Therefore, I was delightfully surprised with the massage that had many new and different strokes that I had not experienced before. Cami was excellent. She was warm and friendly and extremely confident at the Massage itself. The atmosphere is clean, modern and the staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the relaxation area. The welcome was warm and attentive from beginning to end; we truly felt pampered. We enjoyed access to the spa, sauna, and hammam in a calm and soothing atmosphere. The body scrub was particularly effective: very relaxing and perfectly executed. On top of all that, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a small gift, which made the experience even more special. We felt like princesses for a timeless interlude with our best friends. A huge thank you to the entire team, and especially to Haya, for this unforgettable moment. We will gladly return!

Such a wonderful and relaxing experience. I had a 25 minute back massage with Yanicke, who has, as we say in Serbian - hands of gold. The reception, the massage and everything about my experience was perfect. Thank you!
Nan Santalova★★★★★
An amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, the lady at the front desk was super friendly and helpful, making us feel at the right place 🙂 The massage itself was very good, done by true professionals. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing – they do the massage in complete darkness, which is such a unique touch. Combined with the soothing aromas, it really enhanced the whole relaxation vibe. By the end of it, all the tension in my back had melted away. I felt my body relaxed and my mind at peace. Highly recommend this place to relax and escape the stress!
Anique Rehal★★★★★
I went here because someone got me a gift card even though I'm scared of the dark. The whole experience was really fantastic and what made the experience were the people and the person that did my massage. She was very attentive and helped me to understand exactly what the ritual I had, included. She also gave me some excellent tips and advice to help improve my stress and wellness in the future. I definitely recommend this place for a different experience. Having this ritual in the dark, definitely heightened my senses and I felt very relaxed afterwards.
Nadia Allian-Leonard★★★★★
My husband gave me this for a gift. I had the 50 mins massage. Florence did my massage and she was magnificent. The ambiance of the place is good, a lot of oil choices and I am impressed that Florence can feel the points where you kind of have a little pain. Thank you, Florence for the wonderful experience.

LOVE this spa! I go every time I am in the beautiful city of Bordeaux, and even though the ownership has changed over the years, the same EXCELLENT service has continued. Current part-owner/manager/esthetician extraordinaire Morgan is kind, patient, and very skilled. So pleased with my service today and looking forward to my next visit! Thank you, Morgan!!!

Today I visited the salon for the first time. Everything was just amazing. I relaxed well, my neck stopped hurting and began to move better. This is the best treatment... also a wonderful birthday gift, both the procedure itself and advertising salts for taking a bath. Special thanks to the attentive staff represented by the administrator Emily. We will definitely come again

GRAVITY is bringing to life a wonderful concept. The team is super kind and attentive to deliver the best possible experience. And indeed, my wife and I enjoyed an exceptional moment. We spent 1-hour of absolute peace floating in salty water heated at 35°, each of us in our own little comfortable cocoon. We also appreciated the time we could spend in the relaxation room afterwards. Overall, we had an unusual (for us) and amazing experience!

AWFUL EXPERIENCE AT THE SPA GUERLAIN! I never ever write reviews because most places I have been to I’ve enjoyed quite a pleasing experience, but this time, I could not let other people go through such a nightmare. My fiancé surprised me with an amazing gift during our trip to Versailles which unfortunately turned into a nightmare. This is NOT what a Guerlain Spa should be...! Trust me, these are NOT real professionals... the facial was terrible, the massage a joke and the manicure sloppy... not to mention the manager SYDNEY who has a very bad attitude and zero knowledge on how to run a spa in general... she should definitely find another job somewhere else where service, care and hospitality are not a requirement…. I would advise anyone to stay away from this place and to go to the Spa at the Ritz place Vendôme instead... now that's the real deal...

I had an exceptional time at the spa; the welcome was warm and professional. The spa is very well-equipped, notably with a magnificent rooftop jacuzzi. The facilities are perfect for a true wellness escape. A huge thank you to Alicia for her treatment, which provided total relaxation. You truly feel pampered every moment. An experience I wholeheartedly recommend!
stephanie Chenu Kerhomen★★★★★
A high-quality experience; the place is designed to help you disconnect from reality, and the welcome is so warm that you feel special. The spa is very pleasant. You feel completely at ease there. As for the massage, it's designed to help you disconnect from reality and envelop you in a bubble of tranquility. The masseuse has magic hands; the service was incredible, both in terms of professionalism and the ambiance of the massage—pure bliss, and you finish with a lovely pastry. Thank you to the entire team for your kindness, professionalism, and availability. I highly recommend it.

I had a very enjoyable experience at the Grand Hammam de Bordeaux with the Belkys treatment, including the hammam and body scrub. From the moment we arrived, we received a very warm welcome at reception. Everything was well organised, and I really appreciated being able to move between the different rooms and enjoy the hammam at my own pace. The hammam itself is traditional, exactly the way I like it, with a relaxing and authentic atmosphere. The body scrub was also a very pleasant part of the experience. It is a lovely place to spend a relaxing moment between women. The staff were very kind, welcoming and attentive, especially Chérifa. Overall, I had a great time and was very satisfied with the experience. I would happily come back.
naomi mason★★★★★
I've never had a Hammam before and was quite nervous about coming for one. I needn't have worried, the staff at The Grand Hammam were very helpful and kind. I came in for a Supreme Argan and would come back tomorrow if I could! Abi on reception spoke perfect English and talked me through what to do and where to go. The steam room was fabulous and the soaping was quite fun. The scrub was brilliant - I felt so clean afterwards! I then had a massage with Sophie. All I can say is wow. She was brilliant. One of the best massages Ive ever had, and I trained as a masseuse! The atmosphere in the massage rooms is lovely and I really loved the whole experience. I will definitely be back when I return to Bordeaux!
stephanie Gomis★★★★★
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a traditional hammam with friends and family, and it was truly one of the most relaxing and memorable wellness experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we arrived, there was a sense of calm and escape from everyday stress. The atmosphere immediately set the tone: soft lighting, warm stone, gentle steam, and subtle scents that made us feel like we had stepped into another world. What made this experience especially meaningful was sharing it with people I care about. The hammam felt like a space designed not just for relaxation, but also for connection. We were able to unwind together, laugh, talk, and enjoy moments of quiet side by side. It’s rare to find an experience that allows both deep relaxation and genuine bonding, and this managed to do exactly that. The facilities were clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The heat rooms were perfectly balanced—warm enough to loosen every muscle without being overwhelming. Moving between the different areas felt natural and unhurried, allowing us to truly slow down and be present. The staff were professional, attentive, and respectful, making sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the experience. They explained each step clearly and created a welcoming environment for both those new to hammams and those more familiar with the tradition. Their calm presence added to the overall sense of trust and relaxation.
Michal Marcus★★★★★
This was my first time at a Hammam. It was a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful, the staff warm and friendly and I had the best massage I’ve ever had. This was a great experience and wonderful pampering treat.
Güray Karaarslan★☆☆☆☆
There was a very nice enterance at the street outside and I was taking a photo from outside. The employee lady just came and berated us that we can't record video because it's a business. That was very rude and very ugly. This place doesn't deserve anything nice. And I am adding this photo for her. Would you like to call the police sullen faced lady? We weren't informed about anything and the warning was very rude. Have you ever smiled in your life? We are not enemy or something. And in this case we were accused to take secret pictures of women? The language you used and the attitude you had weren't professional at all. Such a touristic place this attitude was very socially akward.

Nice floating pod facility! The experience could be a little more comfortable with some extra furniture in the floating pod room, like the hydrating cream (which is available only in the common area) and some disposable slippers. The owner is very kind and professional!

Honestly, we had a fantastic time. The spa is truly amazing, and it's not crowded at all because it's spacious and only allows a maximum of 20 people per time slot, so it's perfect. I highly recommend it! 👍👍👍 Special mention for the ice cave, a wonderful discovery! All the facilities are really top-notch!
Sven Muzas★★★☆☆
A first for us at this establishment. It's a shame the hammam wasn't working and we couldn't enjoy the Moroccan herbal tea (it was empty for two hours). We felt like we were there in the off-season, even though it was July. The various hot tubs (jacuzzi, etc.) took a while to get going. There were long waits for a hydrotherapy massage. Otherwise, overall it was still quite pleasant.
Hervé Correia★★★☆☆
Beautiful facilities, a wonderful time spent with a fantastic masseuse. The only downside is that having a treatment doesn't grant access to the spa. You then have to pay an extra €25, whereas in most thalassotherapy centers it's usually free. A REAL SHAME.

A really great massage after a long flight. My neck and shoulders were very tight and they spent extra time working out the issues and making me feel brand new. I have been to ban Thai in Paris and Nice multiple times and found that this was the most welcoming and friendliest of my experience.

An amazing experience from start to finish! I had a deep tissue massage with Su, and she was absolutely exceptional. She’s incredibly skilled, professional, and genuinely dedicated to helping her clients. She quickly identified the areas causing me pain and worked through them with great care and expertise. I left feeling so much better, with a huge relief in tension and discomfort. I will definitely be back!

Wonderful salon. Great massage. Relaxing and dynamic. The therapist have an ability to sense what’s needed. Calm and clean. Will return. Highly recommend.
Cenk Baysoy★★★★★
During my stay in Bordeaux, I had massages at two other places as well, but honestly none of them could compete with the quality of Ban Thai Spa. The masseuse's skill, pressure control, and professionalism are truly on another level. The place is spotlessly clean, calm, and soothing; the moment you walk in, all your fatigue melts away. They do full justice to traditional Thai massage. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality massage in Bordeaux — I'll definitely be back.

I had the pleasure of discovering the spa at the Mondrian Bordeaux, visiting several times, and it's always an exceptional experience. The space is elegant and incredibly soothing. The massages are simply wonderful: a true moment of relaxation, performed with great professionalism and care. A huge thank you to the entire team for the consistently high quality of service and treatments. It's a place I happily return to, and one I recommend without hesitation.

A mixed experience, saved by an exceptional restaurant. I came with friends for a well-deserved spa afternoon (when you're an entrepreneur, these moments are rare!), and I left with mixed feelings. The setting is undeniably magnificent, but for €70, I expected more in terms of customer experience. Upon arrival, no one spontaneously informed us that the lockers were out of order; we had to ask how they worked (because initially, we weren't given any explanation, just bathrobes) before anyone told us, which isn't reassuring for the security of our belongings. And as we were leaving, the changing room indicated that we had to go to the spa reception to request a hairdryer or a comb… except that once there, we learned that they didn't have those either, without the slightest apology or explanation, just a "oh no, we don't have any." Nowhere are these unavailability details indicated, forcing customers to make unnecessary trips back and forth. These small details, added together, really detract from the experience. But the restaurant itself more than made up for it. A warm welcome, delicious cocktails, flavorful dishes… flawless! It clearly deserves the 5 stars in this review. 🌟
Selena Delafoi★★★★★
Perfect! I went for a back massage and was able to enjoy the beautiful spa! The massage was exceptional, an experience to be had again and again. I'll be back!

I treated my wife to a relaxing experience for her 30th birthday. Upon arrival, the reception was appalling. She was told to wait in the "bar area." The appointment was for 2 PM, but no one came until she returned to reception, having been ignored for 20 minutes. The massage was disastrous, with painful movements and no attention paid to her needs. At the end of the relaxation session (which was cut short by the 20 minutes that weren't offered to make up), she was subjected to a very aggressive sales pitch to buy products. I will be sure to tell my friends and family. Regards.
Delphine Kahn★★★★☆
My husband and I booked a 30-minute spa session followed by a 1 hour 15 minute treatment. The spa is small, which is very pleasant as it's rarely crowded. Unfortunately, the hammam wasn't working, which was a bit of a shame. The treatments were very relaxing but lacked a bit of personalization and pressure. They were a little too gentle for our liking, despite our requests for stronger pressure. On the other hand, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the setting was very pleasant.

Incredible experience. From the moment you arrive until the treatment itself, truly savor the moment! The scents and massages enhance the beauty of the experience. Thank you to Rachel for the amazing massage; I left feeling incredibly relaxed. I'll be back very soon! Thank you again.

I truly appreciated the luxury and beauty of this establishment. I had a wonderful moment of pure relaxation at the spa, and the facial was exceptionally well done and very pleasant. The professionals were excellent, even at reception. I highly recommend it!

Friendly welcome and excellent facial, however the spa itself looks very tired, tiling has spots of mould and the jacuzzi area in particular doesn’t feel luxurious as one hand rail is loose and the jacuzzi didn’t work properly during my visit. Also the large shower outside the hammam has rust on it. I was alone for the time in the spa before my facial as the spa wasn’t staffed, so by the time I could alert someone to the problem I couldn’t really use the jacuzzi, my main reason for using the spa. The lady who was working there tried to fix it and said I could stay after my facial but I didn’t want to wash off all the nice products she had used during my treatment. The spa desperately needs updating, it’s not befitting of a hotel of this quality. It should also be staffed whenever someone is using it, if nothing else for safety reasons.

Very private style of spa. I am regular customer, Quality of massage is depends on who does it. The service and facility is great. Altho there are some women who can be rude on the phone.

Tips for Choosing the Right Spa in Bordeaux

Navigating the wellness options in a new city can be overwhelming, especially when you are trying to maximize your relaxation time. To ensure you get the most value and pleasure out of your experience, there are several local nuances you should understand. From booking windows to cultural etiquette, these details can significantly impact the quality of your visit.

Book well in advance, especially on weekends. Bordeaux is a busy tourist hub and a center for business travelers. The best spas, particularly those within luxury hotels like Les Sources de Caudalie or the InterContinental, fill up days or even weeks ahead. If you have a specific time slot or therapist in mind, do not wait until you arrive in the city to book.

Understand the difference between a Spa and a Hammam. While both offer water-based relaxation, the experience is distinct. A traditional hammam involves a hot, steamy room where you scrub your skin on a warm stone, often followed by a soapy massage. A classic spa might focus more on dry saunas, jacuzzis, and oil-based massages. Decide which style of heat and humidity you prefer before selecting your venue.

Consider vinotherapy treatments. Bordeaux is the wine capital of the world, and many local spas have turned the byproducts of winemaking into luxury treatments. Polyphenols from grape seeds are used in scrubs and wraps for their antioxidant properties. If you want an experience unique to this region, ask for a "Crushed Cabernet Scrub" or a "Merlot Wrap." It is a distinctly Bordelais way to relax.

Check access to the relaxation areas. Some spas offer a pool, sauna, and jacuzzi only if you book a treatment of a certain length. Others sell day passes that grant you access to the entire thermal journey without needing a massage. If you are on a budget but still want the spa ambiance, look for locations that offer "Spa Access Only" passes for a few hours in the afternoon.

Bring your own swimsuit and arrive early. While some high-end hotels provide robes and slippers, swimwear is rarely included. Arriving at least 30 minutes before your appointment is standard practice in France. This allows you time to shower, change, and start the relaxation process in the sauna or steam room before your therapist collects you, ensuring your muscles are already warm.

The wellness scene in Bordeaux is an extension of the city’s overall philosophy: life should be savored, not rushed. Taking the time to visit one of these establishments is not an indulgence; it is a necessary part of understanding the local culture. The French have long known that balance—between work and rest, wine and water, city and silence—is the key to longevity.

As you plan your itinerary, leave a window of a few hours where you have no obligations other than to unwind. Whether you choose a centuries-old cellar converted into a thermal bath or a sleek rooftop pool overlooking the Garonne, the experience will ground you. In Bordeaux, the best memories are often made in the quiet moments between the clinking of glasses.
