10 Best Shopping Areas Near Mestalla Stadium

Whether you are in Valencia for a match day at the iconic Mestalla Stadium or simply exploring the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, the area surrounding the stadium offers a surprisingly diverse retail landscape. The districts of El Pla del Real, Mestalla, and nearby Blasco Ibáñez combine the energy of a university population with the sophistication of upscale residential life. This unique mix creates a shopping environment where traditional Spanish boutiques sit comfortably alongside modern retail chains.

Unlike the historic, labyrinthine streets of the old town, the shopping areas near Mestalla are defined by wide, tree-lined avenues and a more local, unhurried pace. Here, you will find a blend of daily necessities, high-street fashion, and gourmet food shopping that caters to the residents who call this prestigious part of Valencia home. It is an excellent opportunity to experience the city as a local rather than a tourist.

The main commercial arteries radiate outward from the stadium, making it incredibly easy to combine your retail therapy with a visit to the famous football ground. Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez acts as the central spine, connecting the area to the university and the city center, while Avenida de Aragón and Calle de la Reina Doña María offer more specialized and boutique shopping experiences. You can easily spend a full afternoon drifting between these distinct zones.

Accessibility is one of the strongest benefits of shopping in this area. The neighborhood is well-served by the Metrovalencia system, with the Aragón and Facultats stations dropping you right into the heart of the action. Because this is a primarily residential and student district, you will also find that prices in local cafes and smaller shops are often more reasonable than those in the heavily touristic areas near the Cathedral.

For visitors staying near the stadium or attending an event, the convenience of having quality retail options on your doorstep cannot be overstated. Whether you need to pick up a forgotten travel adapter, find a stylish outfit for a night out, or buy authentic Spanish ingredients for a picnic in the Turia Gardens, this neighborhood has you covered. The retail offerings are designed for practicality as well as pleasure.

This guide focuses on the best shopping areas that provide a genuine sense of place. We have prioritized zones that offer a mix of local character, architectural beauty, and retail variety. You will not find massive, generic malls here; instead, you will discover walkable streets filled with independent businesses and essential Spanish brands that define the daily rhythm of Valencia.

Before we dive into the specific locations, it is worth noting that Spanish shopping hours can be different from those in the UK or the US. Many smaller, independent shops close for a siesta between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, reopening in the evening until around 8:30 PM. Plan your visit around these hours to ensure you experience the best of what these areas have to offer.

El Saler Shopping Center is a vibrant retail hub in Valencia, featuring a diverse range of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. With its modern architecture and spacious layout, it provides a lively atmosphere for shopping and leisure, making it a popular destination for both locals and visitors. 28/10/2024 - Update after company reply: First of all, it seems your perception about reviews is a bit mistaken. Reviews are not a request for assistance and don't require an answer. Reviews are just an opinion about the company. Furthermore, who said to you that my review was not written by a customer? And if it was really not written by a customer, what's the point? It's the most ridiculous reply I ever got. I'm praising the company and they come to question my review with unfounded claims.

Good location, Good parking and lot's of shops and food possibilities
Vilarejos★★★★☆
El Saler shopping mall is a pleasant place with the kind of shops you can find in almost every shopping mall in Spain, with some different options. The food court has a good variety of restaurants, like any shopping mall. The parking lot is large but a bit confusing. In any case, during peak hours it's difficult to find a parking space. A tip: on holidays, parking is free, so if you want to visit this mall or the City of Arts and Sciences, it's a good parking option and you can still enjoy the mall. The Carrefour in the mall is large and has good prices for being in a mall.

Very nice shopping mall in a very convenient location around different attractions. As tourists, it was within a walking distance from our wonderful hotel, where we able to buy some snacks, dine in and do shopping several times. All services are available such as pharmacy, supermarkets and all essentials. The shopping experience was also nice as they have some nice brands. The mall layout is very smart with natural lighting and semi open air, still you feel cool with the air conditioning coming from the shops. Finally, they have nice view, accessible to wheelchairs and you can park your scooter 🛴 inside the mall.

Modern outdoor shopping mall just across the Oceanographic Museum. The Spanish normal shops with a good summer sale. Snacks and dining on the top two floors. Good shade even in the heat during siesta time. Maybe not worth traveling for but if you’re around it’s a good place to cool down and get some energy.

Modern shopping center with a good variety of stores, restaurants, and services. Clean, well-maintained, and easy to access. The overall experience was very good, although some areas could benefit from more seating and relaxation spaces.

Nuevo Centro is a very convenient shopping centre, with plenty of shops, a supermarket and several places to eat both indoors and outside. Being connected to El Corte Inglés makes the whole area even more useful. For us, staying at the Novotel next door, it was perfect for having almost everything within a few minutes’ walk.

Excellent shopping centre with lots of food outlet.

Nuevo Centro, situated in Valencia, offers a comprehensive shopping experience with an extensive variety of options. From fashion, food, and dining to music, sports, toys, home goods, jewelry, gifts, accessories, travel, beauty products, footwear, and leisure activities, this mall caters to a wide range of interests and needs. The website is quite informative, providing essential details like opening hours, access information, a store directory, and updates on various events and news related to Nuevo Centro. This makes planning a visit effortless. The diverse range of stores and activities available at Nuevo Centro makes it a great destination for a day out with family or friends. However, the mall can get quite busy during peak hours, so it's best to visit during off-peak times for a more relaxed experience.

Poor food options, almost only burgers available. The information desk clerk was unkind and no outstanding stores. The main shopping streets offer a better experience.

A great place to find a variety of items, from soil for your plants to nail varnish, tools, and more. Everything is reasonably priced!
Will Torrefiel★☆☆☆☆
Very bad service with customers. I spent over 500 euros for the past 2 years and they definitely lost me as a customer. The reason why? Is they don’t train their staff on selling the right tools or products, bad quality for the price and for the return policy very bad. I had a 3 euro product that I tried and didn’t work right for what I wanted for. I want to purchase a more expensive item plus I was going to spend over 20 euros that day and they refused to exchange the product. I told them very nicely but refused and smiled on my face so I felt very disrespected so I told them it’s the last time I’m spending my money and they didn’t care at all. And the music super load like it’s a disco club and very unprofessional. Don’t spend your hard earned money on bad quality products. I rather spend more money on better quality and better service.

Very large mall and beautiful to walk around especially during the holidays as it is nicely decorated. It combines indoor and outdoor sections nicely and has many restaurants, stores, a theater and even an arcade and bowling area. Along with an “outlet village” which is like a village made up of outlet stores, jumpyard, some other large businesses located within the malls area and some spread out restaurants. These places aren’t in the main area of the mall, but are in the overall Bonaire mall area. However, difficult to reach by public transport. No metro and bus comes every 30 min. Long ride if you live in center of city. Also the whole mall essentially shuts down on Sunday with access allowed but only a few stores are actually open. Besides that, nice mall
Souad B★★★☆☆
I was a bit disappointed, to be honest. I visited during what I heard was a promotional period, but I didn’t really find the great deals I was expecting. Most of the prices seemed pretty normal, and there wasn’t a huge selection either. Maybe I just went at the wrong time, but for an outlet, I expected better discounts and more variety. Overall, it was okay, just not worth the hype in my experience.

I go to Bonaire pretty often, really like it. It’s big, open air, nice to walk around. Lots of shops and boutiques, you can find pretty much everything. Good place to come with family, kids have stuff to do too. Parking is big, usually no problem to find a spot. Overall just a nice place to spend some time and do shopping.

Huge area for everything you need/ want. Lots of brand shops for clothes and not only. You can find also a huge Decathlon and also outlet shops from various brands. You can eat here as there are a set of food area, also you can just have fun as there is a transport cable and other type of fun area/ games room.

An impressive building, with beautiful mosaic murals and architectural details to see before you go inside for food or drinks. There is a good variety of food available - don’t miss the options downstairs! - and plenty of places for a drink or coffee in the shade. Perfect place to relax for a while and watch the bustle.

I really enjoyed my visit to Mercado de Colón in Valencia. The building itself is stunning, that light, airy hall framed by elegant ironwork and colourful ceramic detail made it one of the most beautiful historic spaces I wandered into on my trip. Inside, it feels less like a traditional produce market and more like a lively urban meeting point. I grabbed a coffee, soaked up the relaxed vibe, and watched locals and visitors mix at the cafés and tapas spots. It was the perfect place to pull up a seat, enjoy a glass of horchata and savour the blend of heritage architecture and modern leisure. I recommend.
Doug Ho★★★★★
The Mercat de Colón (Columbus Market) in Valencia is a stunning modernist landmark that has been transformed from a traditional 1916 food market into a premier gastronomic and leisure hub. Located in the upscale L'Eixample district, it is celebrated for its Valencian Art Nouveau architecture—featuring iron, glass, brick, and colourful ceramic mosaics—and serves as a vibrant meeting point for both locals and tourists. The market is renowned for its diverse dining options, ranging from Michelin-star level cuisine to traditional local drinks. Elevated Dining: HABITUAL by Ricard Camarena offers contemporary Mediterranean comfort food on the lower level, known for its creative use of local products. Traditional Horchata: Horchatería Daniel is a must-visit to try Valencia's famous tiger nut milk (horchata) paired with fartons (sweet pastries). Organic & Healthy: Suc de Lluna BioCafé provides organic, vegan, and vegetarian-friendly options, including healthy tapas and fresh juices. Asian Fusion: Ma Khin Café blends Asian flavours with Mediterranean ingredients for a unique culinary experience. Tapas & Drinks: Mi Cub is popular for its outdoor terrace and traditional tapas, while Las Cervezas del Mercado offers a wide selection of international and local craft beers. The address is Carrer de Jorge Juan, 19, 46004 València. Hours: Daily from 7:30 AM to 2:00 AM or 3:00 AM (individual establishments have their own specific schedules). How to Get There: Metro: Lines 3 and 5 (Colón station). Bus: Multiple lines including 8, 10, 13, 18, 30, 32, 40, 93, 94, C1, and C2.

May 2026 Update: During our visit on May 11, most of the lower level business were closed apparently due to remodeling. Options here will be more limited than earlier reviews suggest for the time being. The main level is fully open.

I'm a big fan of Decathlon in Portugal and Salamanca. For some reason the third biggest city in Spain and this one is untidy, a bit run down feeling....ones in Portugal should not be better....and missing many of there basics..not in stock. Disappointed.
--★★★☆☆
This place is a bit unloved, I don't know why, the Decathlon has all what you would expect, the Yelmo Cines offer a wide variety of screenings, including more VOSE than most, which for me is a real plus (I hate translated films), and they also have Opera and Arts screenings. There is also a gym which seems to be quite popular. The Mezzanine area lives the place down, it has a coffee shop/bar that has been closed for ages and the whole area, which is nothing more like transit in and out of the Yelmo looks dire with some coin operated machines left there like abandoned and a couple of incongruous massage sofas in between the escalators to the cinemas. The space is screaming for somebody with fresh ideas to use it, it has hardly changed so the conclusion is that nobody cares.

They have a small selection of Hot Wheels on the top floor, but it's mostly older stock. It doesn't seem like they receive regular deliveries, so if you're specifically looking for Hot Wheels, it's probably not worth making a special trip here unless you have some time to spare. Insider Tips for Shopping Near Mestalla

To make the most of your shopping excursion in this vibrant district, it helps to understand the local retail culture. The area is not a sterile shopping mall but a living, breathing part of the city where students, professionals, and families go about their daily business. By adjusting your expectations and timing, you can uncover incredible finds and enjoy a more authentic Valencian experience. Here are some practical tips to enhance your visit.

Plan Around the Siesta
While major chains and supermarkets often stay open all day, the charming independent boutiques and specialty food stores often close between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Use this downtime to enjoy a long, leisurely lunch at a local restaurant. The shops will be reopening just as you finish your coffee, allowing you to shop in the cooler evening air.

Combine Shopping with the Turia Gardens
The vast, green Turia Park runs directly parallel to the shopping streets near Mestalla. If you are traveling with family or simply need a break from carrying bags, the park is the perfect escape. You can easily alternate between browsing the shops on Avenida de Aragón and relaxing on a park bench under the orange trees.

Look Beyond the High Street
While the main avenues are excellent for finding familiar brands, do not be afraid to wander down the smaller side streets. The true character of the Mestalla neighborhood is found in the small, family-run shops that have been operating for decades. You might stumble upon a specialty leather goods store, a vintage bookshop, or a gourmet deli that is not listed on any tourist map.

Carry a Reusable Bag
Spain has implemented charges for plastic bags in most retail environments, and Valencia is a very environmentally conscious city. Bringing a lightweight, foldable tote bag with you is not only good for the planet but also makes carrying your purchases between different shopping zones much easier.

Time Your Visit for the Sales
If you are looking for high-street fashion bargains, Valencia has two main sales seasons: the January "Rebajas" after Three Kings Day and the summer "Rebajas" starting in July. During these periods, discounts can reach up to 70% in the stores along Blasco Ibáñez and Avenida de Aragón, making it a prime time for a shopping spree.

Exploring the shopping areas near Mestalla Stadium offers a refreshing alternative to the crowded commercial centers of the city center. It is a chance to see the architectural grandeur of Valencia’s expansion districts while enjoying a retail experience tailored to local needs. From the bustling student energy of Blasco Ibáñez to the refined elegance of the streets bordering the Turia Gardens, this area rewards those who take the time to explore it on foot.

Whether you leave with a bag full of Spanish fashion, a selection of local wines and cheeses, or simply a greater appreciation for the city’s layout, the experience is sure to be a memorable part of your trip. So, lace up your walking shoes, keep an eye on the clock, and enjoy discovering the retail treasures that lie just beyond the roar of the Mestalla crowd.
