12 Best Bakeries Near Royal Alcázar of Seville

After exploring the intricate halls and lush gardens of the Royal Alcázar, you will likely have worked up an appetite. Seville is a city that lives on its bread, and its pastry culture is an essential part of daily life. From traditional convent sweets to modern sourdough, the area surrounding the palace is a hotspot for carb lovers.

Finding a quality bakery in a tourist-heavy zone can be tricky, as many places cater to fleeting visitors rather than local standards. You want to avoid stale pastries and seek out the spots where Sevillanos actually line up in the morning. This guide cuts through the noise to highlight the most authentic options.

The streets immediately around the Alcázar are packed with hidden gems tucked into narrow alleys. Whether you need a quick breakfast before your tour or a sweet snack after, proximity matters. We have focused on locations within a comfortable walking distance of the palace gates.

The list below includes a mix of traditional Andalusian bakeries and modern artisan workshops. You will find everything from savory empanadas to delicate mille-feuille. Each location offers a unique taste of Seville’s rich gastronomic heritage.

We have evaluated these bakeries based on the quality of ingredients, consistency of baking, and authenticity of recipes. We also considered the atmosphere and whether they are worth the walk from the main tourist artery. This ensures you get real value for your money.

Whether you are craving a buttery croissant, a traditional torta de aceite, or a crusty loaf for a picnic, there is a spot nearby. You do not need to venture far from the historic center to eat like a local. The scent of orange blossom and fresh dough is often just around the corner.

Below is a curated selection of the best spots to satisfy your cravings near the monument. These are the places that combine convenience with exceptional quality. Make sure to check their opening hours, as many traditional bakeries close during the afternoon siesta.

Panypiu is a very pleasant spot for breakfast or a light meal. The coffee is excellent, and both the croissant and the sandwich are fresh and tasty, making for a satisfying combination. Overall, it’s a simple but high-quality place that works well for a relaxed start to the day in Seville.
Hebe Harris★★★★★
Bakery with delicious and varied food options. We tried the focaccia, pistachio croissant, milk bun and apricot pastry and all were perfect, as was the coffee

Found this place thanks to Google reviews. What a wonderful cafe bakery. First visit to Seville and this cafe and the staff are friendly and helpful. Supportive to you learning Spanish but also speak in English if you get stuck. We weren’t exactly sure of how to get served at first but approached the counter to wait. A couple of times we were missed but I honestly think that was down to us speaking to each other - so we weren’t interrupted. As soon as we stood with purpose and engaged, made eye contact with staff, we were served. The food we ordered was wonderful, I had the spinach quiche and OH MY WORD! Out of this world, I’m pretty convinced there was goats cheese in it. Whatever cheese it was it was lush and the texture of the warmed quiche with the salad and balsamic was spot on. Cappuccino for me. Appletiser and bagel with ham cheese and rocket for my partner. He loved it too. Highly recommended. The interior and atmosphere is also very calming and welcoming. One thing I also love is the thought to add hooks under the table for your belongings. Wish more places in the UK thought to do this. Facilities include - fully accessible toilet, baby changing space in there and I spotted a highchair too. Everyone is welcome.

Pretty decent experience overall. Good breakfast options, a lot of nice pastry. English breakfast good, but on a small side of scale. Cards are accepted. In the morning can be pretty hectic - queue is rather unorganized and seating places are pretty scarce.

Panypiu - Bread and much more The best bakery in Seville! I’ve been trying many croissants almost 4 weeks in Seville. Among nice bakeries in the city, I found this place as my number one because it has more than just pan 🙂 My favorites were the croissant and pain au chocolat. They are crispy outside, moist inside from enough butter. For me, the chocolate in pain au chocolat was also rich and just right. And the price is reasonable, the size is very generous. The staffs are so patient and warm- hearted even when it’s too busy which is always. They are focused on what they should serve. I think the team works very efficiently. I admire their work. I already became a repeat customer here. My breakfast time here was the happiest time during my stay in Seville 🙂 I hope all best to everyone who works here. 👍

Bakeries in Spain often disappoint me with their bland, dry, and super sweet pastries, but this one is a gem! The chocolate strawberry cake I had was really good! It has layers of flavors, not too sweet, and the taste of fresh strawberries along with the chocolate really worked well. I wish they have a branch in Malaga.

I got their cake as a birthday present, and it was delicious! As far as I know it was pre ordered through their website and also included pretty candles 🙂

I really enjoy the desserts here. The sweetness is subtle and balanced, and the texture is incredibly smooth. It practically melts in your mouth. Amazing!

We ordered an amazing cake! Can highly recommend

For a specialty cakes and sweets shop, I was honestly disappointed. The cakes don’t seem homemade, they look more like store-bought sponge layers with fillings that may or may not be made in-house. There was only one cake that appeared homemade, which I chose, and that’s the only reason I’m giving two stars.

WOW! What a great find for a little sweet snack on the go. Reasonable price with a huge taste punch. We all loved it from kiddos to adults. They also serve coffee which is fantastic with the pastry. I totally recommend this place!

I used to think I didn't really enjoy Portugese tarts - until I tried these. Phenomenal! Perfect consistency and flavour, a subtle hit of lemon sourness. Complementary cinnamon is provided!

It's a small little place, I love nata so much and it was so good! Maybe even better some natas that I tried in Lisbon. The pastry is quite thin and the amount of creme is a lot which I totally liked it. We didn't have much time to stay in Seville, so we just got it as a take out, and even we tried it like about 30 minutes later it was not cold and still sp crispy. I normally like to have nata with a bit of cinnamon powder, but just original nata is so good so I finished so quick. I definitely recommend this place!

Just like the pastéis de nata I had in Porto. Absolutely delicious. I liked them so much that I ended up stopping by another branch during my trip to get more. Would definitely recommend!

A perfect stop to escape the heat and enjoy some delicious pastries and refreshing lemonade. The pastéis de nata were excellent—fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. A great place to relax and recharge while exploring the city.

I went here yesterday to grab a Nutella croissant and a sandwich. When I walked in, the women at the front were busy talking to each other and didn’t greet or acknowledge me at all, which was pretty frustrating. I understand I’m a tourist and don’t speak Spanish, but it would have been nice to at least be acknowledged. They kept chatting with the other employees instead of asking what I wanted. I stood there waiting to see if they would eventually ask, but they just kept talking. When a local customer walked in, they immediately said something to him. It also took a long time for them to charge my card—I’m not sure if the older woman was being trained or not. Unfortunately, the experience got worse. I ate the Nutella croissant fairly quickly, and while it tasted good, it ended up being the only thing I ate that day. Shortly after finishing it, my stomach started feeling queasy. Later, when I got back from shopping, I became very sick—I threw up multiple times and had severe diarrhea. It felt like food poisoning. Because of that experience, I wouldn’t go back.
LC Williams★★★★★
Lovely cafe with a great offering of affordable food + drinks. We ordered a cheesecake, a croque madame and the fresh orange juice. As you can expect in Seville, the orange juice was delicious. The cheesecake was also very good, and I appreciated that they didn't called it 'Dubai' anything but just kept it as pistachio. The croque madame came out quickly, super hot and tasty. They also had free WiFi, which I didn't see in a lot of places I visited, and I appreciated. The staff were nice and as helpful as possible with the language barrier. Overall, I'd definitely recommend!

I recently visited Cake and Go in Seville and it was a delightful treat for any sweet lover. I tried their cinnamon cake and it was outstanding with a light crumb and just the right amount of spice, truly one of the best cakes I’ve had in the city. I also tasted one of their cupcakes and it was moist and flavourful, with a creamy frosting that wasn’t overly sweet. The café atmosphere is modern and welcoming, and there’s a small seating area for enjoying your treats with a coffee or iced tea. I paired my cake with a rich espresso that complemented the warmth of the cake beautifully. Prices are quite reasonable, especially for the quality you receive and the generous portions. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the visit feel warm and personal. One small drawback is that it can get busy during brunch hours, but the buzz adds to its charming vibe rather than being a nuisance. Overall Cake and Go offers a perfect blend of traditional baking with fresh, creative touches, making it a must‑visit spot in Seville for a casual coffee break or a special treat.
Sergio Marani★★★★★
It's a great place to get something fresh and delicious. I came here for breakfast and it was great. When you want to take away your order, they'll hand you a nice container out of cardboard with a thin wrapper. Great concept and fair prices! I definitely recommend this place.
Joni Larsen★★★★☆
We ordered a Brownie and Pistachio Cheesecake. The Pistachio Cheesecake was the star. The pistachio flavor came out strong and delish! We had never had something like this before...and we recommend. They warmed the brownie; it was more of a bitter brownie than we are used to. Those behind the counter were friendly and efficient.

Best pastries we tried in Seville. Had the raspberry mascarpone croissant, pan Suisse, chocolate covered hazelnut croissant and pistachio caracol. Beautiful all of them. Will happily return. And the shopkeeper was very affable and helpful.
Liam Corrigan★★★★★
In our top 5 globally. Try the local custard it's delicious with cinnamon and star anise but perfectly balanced so nothing overpowers. We came 2 days in a row and none of the cakes disappointed. Would heartily recommend.

Pastries were quite delicious, had the pistachio and raspberry croissants. Service was too notch very helpful and friendly people there. Highly recommended.

Dulcería Manu Jara was a lovely find and definitely worth the stop. I ordered the pain au chocolat and the pain suisse. The pain au chocolat was my favourite, buttery, flaky, and rich without being overly sweet. The owner was very kind and attentive, which made the visit feel even more personal. I picked up my pastries to go and later paired them with a double cortado from another spot nearby. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and you can really tell they use quality ingredients. The bakery itself is beautifully decorated, with a high-end display of pastries that shows off their craftsmanship. Just note there is no seating, so it’s more of a takeaway place. This spot is well known in Seville and you can tell it’s earned its reputation. Others rave about their desserts and the overall experience and I have to agree. If you’re in the Triana neighborhood and want something sweet and authentic, this is a must visit.
Liz Bissonnette★★★★★
Wonderful service and the tastiest pastries. I enjoyed the Pan de Pistachio among others.

El Torno is a tiny little gem tucked away inside Plaza del Cabildo—the commercial gallery right in the heart of Sevilla's city center. Don't let the small size deceive you though, because their pastries are absolutely delicious! They have a few different flavors to choose from, but we went for the almond with lemon one—which happens to be their most popular—and it was incredible! The combination of flavors was just perfect, and you can tell they put a lot of care into what they make. If you're passing through Plaza del Cabildo, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's the perfect little treat to enjoy while exploring the city center. Highly recommended! 🥐🍋
Julie Casanova★★★★★
A really warm welcome by the man in the shop, who was so patient with my broken Spanish and gave us recommendations. We ordered little cakes that had the best texture and flavour in the world! Marzipan like but not too sweet, soft on the inside, delicious!

Loved this little shop! The person at the counter was lovely with a great big smile. I appreciate that she seemed genuinely interested in helping us. I got one box as a gift and the large assorted box for us to enjoy while in Seville... That was two days ago and we're already finished...! I believe most of them had an almond paste-type center, which I really enjoyed. A bonus of visiting the shop is the beautiful courtyard that surrounds it. Both are a must visit! Edit: yes, that was me! I don't think Google map users want to see a phot of me 😉

I wanted to try some sevillian breakfast and this place was recommended by the hostel staff. It seems to be a popular breakfast place for local people. The bread was freshly baked, and the ham, olive oil, tomato sauce combination was amazing. The freshly squeezed orange juice was good too.

If you are looking for flaky croissant, this is not the place. It’s more like bread and it was dry. Staff was not friendly, unwelcoming, and touching his facial hair. There was also construction inside, it started as I was eating. You will smell it! I wouldn’t recommend this place. Hope this will improve…

I have been this bakery yesterday and today, and I highly recommend it. The croissants are delicious, both original one and pistachio one. And the staff here are so nice, I especially wanna thank for Lola for her heartwarming service. Yesterday I didn’t pay successfully in the first time, but she told me don’t worry and kindly treat me ^^ I feel so moved by staff here.

I had a fantastic experience here! The cakes were absolutely delicious and the coffee was perfect. What impressed me the most was the portion sizes—they are very generous and offer excellent value for the price. The atmosphere is wonderful, making it a great place to relax, and the service was also very good. Everything we tried was high quality and satisfying. I highly recommend visiting if you’re looking for great treats and a lovely environment.
Canberk Özbaykuş★★★★★
We absolutely loved our breakfast here! The mollete toast was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside — simple yet full of flavor. The croissants were outstanding, rich with the aroma of real butter and baked to perfection. But the real star was the pistachio croissant — flaky, creamy, and truly unforgettable. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and you can tell great care goes into every detail. A must-visit spot in Seville for anyone who loves good pastry and bread! 🥐✨
Fatih Turan★☆☆☆☆
The staff were very rude. They looked tired of the tourists. But they shouldn't forget that they make their money from tourists. They need to be more friendly and respectful. The tables outside were very dirty. Why did you paint the inside of the pistachio croissant green?? We had ordered takeaway, but when the child got tired, we thought it wouldn't be a problem to sit at the dirty tables outside for a short while. A rude woman warned us in a rude tone, "You ordered takeaway, you can't sit here." When I said we could pay if there was a fee, she continued muttering, turned around, and walked away.

INCREDIBLE. Probably the best egg tarts we've ever had. We end up having it twice on our trip. It's flaky, sweet without being too sweet, perfectly caramelised, not too eggy, not too oily. You know it's amazing when you don't even need cinnamon on it. An easy quick snack to just eat and go, then come back for more!

They open at 10, not 9, but it's worth the wait and coming back for!! Home made lemonade was sour and fresh, and the tart was still warm, creamy and not too sweet. The shop owner was very hardworking

Best croissant in the world! It’s an absolute must and having tried croissants all over the world, it is Seville that is home to the best one yet. I’m sorry Paris, but this one steals the crown! Other pastries and cakes were just ok, nothing special.

Bomba de Naranja was really good, but Tocino de Cielo was way too sweet and it has too much taste of egg (normal thing since it's made mostly of egg yolks, but I didn't know about it). If taste of only egg yolks and a ton of sugar are something you don't have any problem with, you can give it a try. Anyway, for €3 each I ain't even mad I couldn't finish the Tocino.
Simona Ferro★★★★☆
The pastries are excellent, but what makes this place even more special is the incredibly kind staff. A magical place to visit for an afternoon snack.

This place is a great spot to grab a soft drink on the main Street near Sevilla Cathedral. The coffee is decent, but I don’t like the top. It’s way too sugary for me. My friends enjoy the cruvason. The service was just okay. The waiters seemed tired and grumpy.

Luian provided excellent service from start to finish. They were friendly, attentive, and made sure we always had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food came out quickly, and they checked on us at just the right times. Their positive attitude made the whole dining experience even better. Loved Guille’s service on our table. He was very helpful and patient with us choosing the menu. The food tastes good & the coffee was a masterpiece!

We stumbled upon this spot while strolling the streets in Seville. There was a huge lineup to get inside which was part reason of us wanting to try it out. Our experience was quite delightful hence not sure why they have a lower rating on here. We were able to get seated within fifteen minutes. Ground level was packed, but we got seated on the first level, which was half empty. Menu had plenty of options, service was fine, what you would typically expect at a busy restaurant and the items we ordered were delicious. Ita a great place to relax, socialize and grab a bite, snacks, desserts or hot beverages. That's pretty much what we had and have no hesitation in recommending this place. Would definitely revisit if were in Seville.
Adriana Andrade★★★★★
We want to share that António at the jamonería was very kind and attentive, taking the time to explain the differences between the various products. The pastry shop's rating does not reflect the service he provided. Un mensaje especial para Antonio: le deseamos un buen viaje hasta Lisboa. ¡hasta la próxima!

Essential Tips for Visiting Bakeries Near the Alcázar

Understanding local customs will make your bakery visit much smoother and more rewarding. Spanish bakeries operate on a different rhythm than those in other countries, and knowing what to order is half the battle. Here is how to navigate the pastry scene like a pro.

1. Time Your Visit Correctly
The best selection is available in the early morning, usually between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Many locals buy their bread for the day at this time, so ovens are active and goods are fresh. If you arrive late in the afternoon, the shelves may be sparse.

2. Know the Local Lingo
While many staff members speak English, knowing a few words helps. Pan is bread, dulce is sweet, salado is savory, and bollería refers to pastries like croissants. A simple “¿Cuál es la especialidad de la casa?” (What is the house specialty?) will get you the best item quickly.

3. Carry Cash for Small Purchases
Although card payments are widely accepted, some traditional family-run bakeries have a minimum spend for credit cards. If you are just grabbing a single coffee and a pastry, having a few euros in coins is faster and appreciated. It helps keep the line moving.

4. Embrace the Savory Options
Don’t limit yourself to sugar. Spanish bakeries excel at savory items like empanadas de atún (tuna pastries) or picos (small crunchy breadsticks). These are perfect for a light lunch that won’t weigh you down before you continue sightseeing.

5. Look for the Convent Sweets
Some of the best sweets near the Alcázar come from local convents. These are often sold through a torno (lazy susan) or at specialized retail bakeries. Look for yemas (egg yolk candies) or pestiños for a truly historic flavor profile.

6. Respect the Siesta
Most bakeries close between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Unlike convenience stores, they strictly adhere to this schedule. Do not plan a mid-afternoon snack run; instead, buy your afternoon treat in the morning and keep it with you.

As you step out of the Alcázar, the temptation to sit down at the nearest café is strong, but walking a few extra blocks will yield much better results. The difference between a mass-produced tourist pastry and a handcrafted local treat is night and day. Your taste buds will thank you for the effort.
