12 Best Coffee Shops Near La Pedrera – Casa Milà

La Pedrera – Casa Milà is not only one of Antoni Gaudí’s most surreal architectural masterpieces, but it also sits at the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample district. After climbing the undulating rooftop terraces and wandering through the attic museum, you will likely need a moment to decompress. The streets surrounding Passeig de Gràcia are filled with hidden cafés, specialty roasters, and traditional granjas waiting to be discovered.

Finding a quality coffee in such a tourist-heavy area can be tricky if you do not know where to look. While the main avenue offers convenience, the true gems are often tucked away on the quieter side streets. Whether you prefer a quick espresso at the bar or a slow flat white with a pastry, the neighborhood has something for every kind of coffee lover.

Barcelona’s coffee culture has evolved rapidly over the last decade. Gone are the days when a burnt torrefacto espresso was the only option. Today, the area surrounding La Pedrera boasts a vibrant scene of third-wave specialists who prioritize single-origin beans, precise extraction, and sustainable sourcing.

This guide focuses on venues that offer more than just caffeine. We have considered the quality of the roast, the atmosphere, the proximity to the monument, and the overall value. Because you are visiting a masterpiece of modernisme, it only makes sense to pair your cultural experience with a beverage crafted with equal care.

Accessibility is key when you are navigating Barcelona’s wide avenues. All the spots listed here are within a comfortable walking distance from the main entrance of Casa Milà. You will not need to hail a taxi or navigate the metro just to get a decent cup; these are places you can reach on foot in under ten minutes.

We have also included a mix of experiences. Some of these locations are perfect for a quick pitstop, while others invite you to linger with a laptop or a book. Knowing the difference can save you time and help you match the vibe of the café to your current mood or schedule.

Below, you will find a curated list of the twelve best coffee shops near La Pedrera. Each entry has been selected for its unique contribution to the local scene, ensuring that whether you are a strict espresso traditionalist or a cold brew enthusiast, you will find your perfect match.

I've been there several times during cafe hours. They have a wide variety of drinks, and above all, the desserts are delicious. I wanted to try all the cakes. The restaurant's interior is also beautiful, making it perfect for a break.

We visited for the first time and overall, everything was good. We ordered the beetroot gnocchi salad and the salmon and avocado tartare, and both dishes were absolutely delicious and very fresh. The fresh orange juice was also great! The service was a little bit disorganized, but the place was quite busy, so it was understandable. Also, since the outdoor seating is right next to a busy street, it gets a bit noisy out there. Still, we had a great time and the food definitely made up for it!

The food was excellent and Benjamin provided wonderful service. He was very friendly, attentive and professional. We had a great experience.

Had a fantastic experience at La Pedrera. The food was absolutely amazing, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Everything from the atmosphere to the overall service was excellent. A special mention to Jorge, who provided outstanding customer service throughout our visit. He was friendly, attentive, professional, and made us feel very welcome. His service really added to the experience. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be coming back!

When you get tired of shopping, have a coffee or lunch in a building designed by Antoni Gaudí. The staff is friendly, and sitting outside is very pleasant.

Lovely café! We stumbled upon this cute place and were stunned by the warm hospitality and fantastic coffees. Running a French restaurant in NYC, I was really impressed. We went a few times to try the recommended drinks, including a few varieties of espresso and a fluffy Freddo Cappuccino, which really delivered. I highly recommend!

Great coffee and banitsa (the feta pie). Nice inside although it can get very crowded. There is good music, nice vibes and the service is great. There is a table for big groups of people too, and on the inside you actually have more space.

Coffee Casa is such a lovely spot! I got the vanilla iced latte and it was absolutely delicious and perfectly made. The service was amazing, and the owner Philip was incredibly kind. We ended up having such a nice conversation, which made the whole experience feel really welcoming and personal. I also spotted their new tiramisu iced latte, and it looks amazing, so I’ll definitely be back to try that next time. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great coffee and genuinely friendly service!
Tomi★☆☆☆☆
The place is very overrated, the coffee was mediocre quality, and the barista on 29.03.2026 was very unfriendly. The place was nice however.. If you want good quality specialty coffee, don't come here. UPDATE: In my opinion, your response reflects a lack of the attitude expected in the horeca industry. Instead of showing empathy, it focuses on explaining why the customer’s opinion is not valid. Professionals usually start with a simple “sorry” — not necessarily admitting fault, but acknowledging the guest’s experience. When you have a 4.8 rating and people come from across Barcelona specifically to visit your place, expectations are naturally high. Not meeting those expectations is disappointing, regardless of the technical explanation. In horeca, you are often judged by your worst day, not your best ones — and this might be one of those moments.

As I was trying to leave the store after adding sugar, the Lady offered me more sweet pumps which made my drink perfectly the way I like, which is unreasonably sweet for a coffee 🤣 very cute spot. Highly recommend.

Brilliant, there was a line outside when I arrived… not suprised - it’s the best coffee in El Born. I would recommend the tiramisu latte, delicious! 👏

Edited review: always mistrust establishments who give you free food in exchange for 5 star rating. The waitress was super friendly to give me a free gluten free banana cake to go, I even tasted a sample it was ok (maybe the sample was fresher then the give away cakes), but then the free cake was soaked the bag in oil, tasted like 1 week old cake. Not worth it. The coffee was ok but you can find a lot better less than 5 min walking distance. "Super tasty banana cake that is also gluten free! Also grabbed the cold brew, super fresh and good quality coffee." This review no longer applies.

Syra Coffee is my go-to coffee spot throughout Spain, but this location truly stood out. I visited this past week and received some of the kindest, most welcoming service I've experienced. The barista (I wish I knew her name!) was incredibly friendly and went out of her way to help me while I was with my son and his stroller. The coffee at Syra is always fantastic, but the exceptional service made this my favorite visit by far. Highly recommend!
Tom Devonald★★★★★
Great coffee and a great experience. The barista was incredibly welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to chat and make recommendations. You can tell they genuinely care about both the coffee and the customer experience. Easily one of the better coffee spots I’ve been to. Would happily return.

Had a great experience here! I ordered a pumpkin spice latte and really enjoyed the homemade blend of spices that they add to their coffee to make the drink. It was not too sweet, and was an enjoyable seasonal drink. The barista was very kind and they have a great selection of the beans they roast in house that you can buy ground or whole bean. There's no seating and they don't make decaf drinks in the store.
Tavy★★★★☆
I ordered an iced latte which I enjoyed! Well done. I want to stress that this place is a grab and go place. There’s no sitting nor standing. My family and I lingered to drink the latte in this small space, and were politely nudged to leave. I totally get it, but it still didn’t feel nice considering that there were no other clients around, but I get it.

Syra Coffee is a fantastic spot for a coffee fix! While there's no seating and it's take-away only, the coffee is absolutely amazing. The flavors are rich and satisfying. The service is great, with friendly and efficient staff who make the experience even better. Perfect for grabbing a delicious coffee on the go.

Visited Barcelona for 5 days. I usually try to visit a few coffee places to get the vibe of the coffee in a city. I ended up going 5 times there. Good atmosphere, their coffee beans are great. They roast in Barcelona. Their espresso and americano are really good. Highlight and one of the best cups I've had was the aeropress with their "Too much El Salvador" beans. Also loved the classic music from one of the guys who was working there. They love their coffee and you can feel it in every cup they do Can't recommend enough.

Gorgeous spot! The barista helps you pick out a coffee blend based on your flavour palette. I got an Ethiopian bean with notes of cocoa which was so tasty. Honestly I’d suggest doing a tasting because they have so many good options. Great value aswell.

This cafe has one of the best coffee's in Barcelona. You can actually taste the different notes of the coffee. The barista is very friendly, passionate and has a good knowledge of coffee. He recommends you the bean based on your taste and milk preference.

The flat white was not good. It honestly tasted like coffee from a capsule coffee machine. The place was a touch dirty with some crumbles etc. The atmosphere was not top notch in general. The place was spacious though. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this spot. Maybe it’s good for food but not for coffee

Walked into this café by chance, and I’m so glad I did! The avocado and eggs were delicious, and the matcha was amazing. We were not looking for breakfast but at 11:45am in Barcelona, lunch is hard to find. I could not have been any more happy that we missed lunch. These were the best eggs I’ve ever had in my life. The plate had sautéed cherry tomatoes, and mushrooms, 3 small pancakes, a folded egg omelette, piece of cheese and ham. Also had a flat white. Don’t debate, just come in and eat, you won’t be disappointed at all!!

Un sitio con muy buen ambiente y café y postres deliciosos ☕️ We ordered a café latte, a cappuccino, a cardamom twist, and a canela twist. I had read in some reviews that the coffee could be quite acidic, but the latte didn’t feel acidic at all. It was smooth and absolutely delicious. The pastries were also soft and very tasty. The seating area is a bit small, but the atmosphere inside the café is nice. It’s a great place to stop by for a coffee rather than to stay for a long time

Found one of my favorite coffee spots in Barcelona ☕️ I ended up going to Onis Coffee a few times because I genuinely loved their coffee. Such a cozy vibe, great coffee, and definitely one of those places you keep wanting to come back to.

Best latte I’ve had in Barcelona so far. Many other highly rated places were disappointing when it came to the strength or flavour of the latte, whereas this was the perfect colour and texture. On top of that the interior is beautiful and the baristas super friendly. Will return here in my next trip from London! Notes of the coffee are dried fruits, black plum, and milk caramel.

We had breakfast here during our stay in Barcelona and it was a wonderful experience. We ordered syrniki and pancakes, and both were absolutely delicious. The syrniki were soft, tender, and perfectly balanced in sweetness, reminding us of homemade ones. The pancakes were fluffy, beautifully served, and very satisfying. The coffee was also excellent - rich, ароматный, and clearly made with good quality beans. It was the perfect start to our morning. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, and everything felt fresh and made with care. You can really tell that attention is paid to both the taste and presentation of the food. We left very happy and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended for a tasty and cozy breakfast in Barcelona!

We’ve been here several times now, and we keep coming back! The Eggs Benedict and Syrniki were both outstanding (the syrniki are easily the best we’ve had in Barcelona!). The flat white was excellent, and the batch brew really stood out with its beautiful chocolate aroma and subtle berry notes - truly unique. The service is always warm and friendly. Highly recommend, we’ll definitely be back!

I visited Baluard Barceloneta and ordered a ham and cheese croissant, something I’ve always wanted to try, and it did not disappoint. It tasted amazing, I honestly could have eaten about ten of them. I also had a chocolate brownie which was really tasty as well. The café itself had a lovely vibe, with dim lighting, comfortable seating, and a really relaxed atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, even though I don’t speak a word of Spanish, which made the experience even better. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for great food and a nice café experience in Barcelona.
Rogeric Zhu★★★★★
I absolutely loved this bakery. Since my hotel was just one block away, I stumbled across this place on my very first day. The young lady working here wear matching uniforms that give them such a Mediterranean vibe. All the breads are displayed behind glass windows, and it’s total eye candy for anyone who loves European‑style artisan bread. After bouts of indecision, fighting back my hesitation and slowly working through it, I finally settled on what I wanted to try: a baguette sandwich with Spanish ham and arugula, topped with what looked like either flaxseeds or sesame seeds. The young lady rang me up quickly, slipped the sandwich into a paper bag, and twisted the two top flaps of the bag into signature little horn‑shaped folds before handing it over. I opened it and took a bite. The crust had a firm, chewy texture, with slow‑building wheat aroma, plus the toasty fragrance of those seeds — whether flax or sesame — flooding my mouth. Just when I thought that was as good as it got, the savory saltiness of the ham hit, followed by the rich, creamy depth of the cheese. I don’t know if this is the most authentic Spanish bakery around, but as a first‑time visitor to Spain, I was genuinely blown away. That said, getting this bakery’s bread as my very first bite after arriving in Spain almost feels unfair — it’s set the bar so high that I won’t be able to experience Spanish bread in gradual, layered fashion.
rated by maryam • food critic★★★★★
Baluard on Provença stays at the top of my list because the team actually keeps the room cool and dry, a small miracle in Barcelona’s summer. Walk in and the modern-rustic bakery opens into a bright back area filled with greenery and plenty of seating, while a separate counter up front moves the take-away line quickly. The temperature control pays off in every bite. Pastries come out crisp and flaky, never limp. The almond croissant shatters perfectly, buttery without feeling heavy, and the lemon pop cake surprised me in the best way, light and bright with just enough zest to keep me going back for one more forkful. Service seals the deal. Alida greeted us with the kind of warmth that makes you feel like a regular, offered tasting notes on a few local specialties, and treated each order with care. I am already planning a return trip to work through the rest of the Spanish pastries and snag that triple-chocolate croissant I eyed on the way out.
Carolina Carolina★★★★★
Not really a sit down place but there is a small wooden bar with a couple of stools where I had my delicious coffee and fresh cinnamon roll. Service was very friendly and the breads they have there look absolutely incredible. Will be back to try them next time I'm in Barcelona!
ANNA YOKOTA★★★★★
The staff was very cheerful and kind, and above all, the bread was exquisite. Most people go for take-out, but there are two seats inside where you can relax.

Tips for Enjoying Coffee Near La Pedrera

Navigating the coffee scene in a busy district like Eixample requires a little local knowledge. The rhythm of the city, the timing of your visit, and the way you order can drastically change your experience. Keep the following practical tips in mind to ensure you get the best cup possible while respecting the local culture.

  1. Know the difference between "café solo" and "café con leche." If you want a standard espresso, order a café solo. For something closer to a latte, ask for a café con leche. If you want a larger, milder coffee similar to an Americano, request a café americano.
  2. Embrace the "barra" culture. In many traditional spots, standing at the bar is significantly cheaper than sitting at a table. If you are just having a quick espresso, join the locals at the counter. It is faster, more authentic, and often costs half the price.
  3. Plan around the siesta. While most specialty coffee shops near Passeig de Gràcia stay open through the afternoon, smaller traditional bars may close between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Do not assume a place is open just because it is mid-afternoon.
  4. Ask for "leche sin lactosa" or "bebida de avena." If you have dietary restrictions, do not worry. Barcelona is incredibly accommodating. Most specialty shops in this area offer oat, almond, or soy milk, though they may charge a small supplement for the substitution.
  5. Carry some coins or a small bill. While most modern cafés accept cards, some of the older, more traditional granjas and bakeries have a minimum spend for credit cards. Having a €5 or €10 note on hand ensures you never miss out on a great espresso.
  6. Avoid the immediate Passeig de Gràcia terraces if on a budget. The views of La Pedrera are lovely, but you pay a premium for the real estate. Walking just one block north or south will often get you a higher quality drink for 30% less money.

The area surrounding Casa Milà is constantly evolving, with new roasters and bakers moving into the historic Eixample grid every season.
