Nice attracts travellers with postcard-perfect seafront views, a vibrant old town, and some of the most glamorous real estate on the Côte d’Azur. Yet a stay in this sun-drenched city does not have to drain your holiday budget before you even order your first plate of socca.
Savvy visitors know that comfort, cleanliness, and a prime location are still possible without paying for five-star frills or a sea-view balcony. The key is knowing which affordable hotels deliver genuine value rather than simply trading on the city’s famous name.
From family-run two-star boltholes near the Promenade des Anglais to design-conscious budget addresses in the Libération district, the range of cheap accommodation is wider than many travellers expect. The best options combine small-room practicality with spotless housekeeping and helpful front-desk teams.
Price does not automatically mean compromise in Nice. A well-chosen budget hotel can put you within walking distance of the beach, the tram line, and the Cours Saleya market, leaving more money in your pocket for museum passes and long seaside lunches.
The challenge is sorting the genuinely good-value stays from the tired, noisy, or poorly located exceptions. That is why this guide focuses on hotels with consistent guest feedback, real local character, and a clear commitment to hospitality.
Below you will find a curated selection of the best cheap hotels in Nice, followed by practical advice on how to secure the lowest available rate without sacrificing location or comfort.

Great location, 10 minute tram ride from the airport. 5min walk to train station. 10 min train into Nice. Small room, nothing fancy but clean. Great air con. Handwash provided. Hair drier provided at reception. Very comfortable bed. Didn't spend much time in the room, was just a bed for the night and shower in the morning so for the price it was great for us. Small area for breakfast, nothing fancy but for €9 it was enough - tea, coffee, juice, toast, jam, pastries, yogurt, fruit and ham. Would stay again for a short break.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and had the best experience. Not only does it have great value for the money, but it is also located close to all means of transportation - train, bus, tram, and airport (of course). It takes you 20 minutes to reach the city centre and the neighbourhood is safe at night, in case you want to wander more in Nice Vielle. Supermarkets are close to the hotel (12 mins walking). I also want to highlight the professionalism and helpfulness of the receptionists to whom I want to say a big thank you! One day, it was raining heavily, and they let me borrow an umbrella so that I could go outside and buy one from the supermarket. They also let me leave the backpack at the reception after check-out to be able to enjoy my last day in Nice. I could also borrow the hairdryer and (although not needed during my stay) clothing iron. Also, thanks to the cleaning ladies, my room had fresh towels and was cleaned every day. If you want to eat, you can either order ready-meals at the reception or go to the restaurant in the Novotel. The staff is really friendly, and the food is tasty and well-priced. You can also have some drinks at the bar. Overall, it was a great experience and felt like home. I was very happy with my stay and will return on the next occasion.

Unfortunately, our stay at this ibis hotel was very disappointing. When we arrived, we received our key and went straight to the room, where we were immediately met with a very strong sewage smell. At first, we did not complain since we understood it was a budget hotel and did not expect luxury. The room was very small and outdated, but honestly, that was exactly what we expected from a budget hotel.
However, despite opening the window and airing out the room for hours, the strong sewage smell never disappeared. Even after housekeeping cleaned the room the next morning, the smell remained just as bad.
We eventually informed the hotel staff, and they brought in a machine to remove the odor, but unfortunately it made no difference. We then asked for another room, but were told that nothing could be done.
In the end, we had no choice but to book a room at the hotel next door and request a refund. Very disappointing experience.

I am giving this hotel 5 stars for the following reasons. I think that when you normalize your expectations (price versus what you get) this hotel is actually very appealing. It is very close to Terminal 1 - 10 mins walk. It is close to some restaurants, and about 10mins walk from Carrefour city. The room was as expected, a bit small but super functional. Everything was clean. Quite and private. Easy get in get out. The bed was comfortable. AC was great. Hot water as needed. I also purchased breakfast at 9 Euros which was absolutely worth it. Hot drinks and juices, Boulangerie, some cheese, yogurts, cereals, boiled eggs. I'll definately come again.

The absolute best service I’ve ever experienced! The guys here just do everything to make your life easier! And are the kindest people. Might be a very basic hotel but with the must luxurious treatment! With definitely come back!

brilliant for location. You're talking a lovely 5–10 minute stroll to the centre and beach, and there's a public transport stop practically on your doorstep, which is handy.
The rooms are decent enough, scoring about 3 out of 5. The bathrooms are better 4 out of 5. Staff are genuinely helpful and know their way around, which makes a difference.
The kitchen's well-equipped, though I'll be honest, the pans are absolutely knackered. Food sticks whether you use oil or butter, so they'd benefit from investing in some new ones. On the bright side, there's fridge space if you want to store your own food.
Breakfast isn't included as standard, but you can add it on for a bit extra. Worth asking about the cost if it matters to your budget. Same with towels they're not provided, so you'll want to clarify if there's a rental charge.
There's a €3 keycard deposit you get back at checkout.
The wifi is rather sluggish, I'm afraid. I clocked it at about 4 Mbps and it struggled to load basic pages sometimes. Not ideal if you need to work.
What's really great is the amount of communal space. Plenty of spots to eat, chill out, or get some work done.

Location was wonderful! Close to everything and the beach. That’s about it…
6ppl to one room smaller than a child’s bedroom. Bunk beds creak, no privacy, AC sucks (5th floor), no shower mat, they’re weird about extra towels. Theres 6 beds and only 3 large lockers (there’s 4 more but they only fit a regular-sized backpack/purse), and only 3 towel hooks. 3 hooks!!! For the whole room! In a beach town!!! The bathroom light is automatic and wakes everyone up any time anyone uses the bathroom, and stays on for 15 mins. Slow drain. My sheets had moth holes. The floors were dirty (my feet were black getting into bed!) The stairs are nauseating. Front desk staff are typically rude. They didn’t let us check in even a minute early.
Enjoy a hot & humid, loud & bright, wet & dirty room for a nice €100 but hey, at least there’s a pub crawl every evening…

Visited Nice hoping for some winter sun, although it seems the sun had gone on its own holiday!
Location:
The hostel is in a great spot just off the main shopping street, with supermarkets, bars, and restaurants all a short walk away.
Room & Comfort:
I stayed in a large mixed dorm (around 12 beds) with an ensuite shower and a separate bathroom. Lockers are in the middle of the room—bring your own padlock. I didn’t find the bed or pillow particularly comfortable.
Facilities:
There’s a well‑equipped self‑catering kitchen downstairs, but the fridge is so full it’s almost unusable. Everything has to go into identical brown paper bags, so good luck figuring out which one is yours among the hundreds.
There’s also a gym, extra showers and toilets, and possibly a laundry area.
The bar opens at 6pm with good‑priced drinks, though only snacks are available rather than full meals.
Service:
I didn’t need much from reception, but on arrival the receptionist wasn’t especially helpful. The bar staff were friendly, and all staff spoke English.
Extras:
Given the central location, many guests seemed to spend most of the night out, which meant people coming and going at all hours and a lot of noise around 4–5am. The location is both a blessing and a drawback, but overall I would stay here again.
Tara Linehan★★★☆☆
Great Location, and modern/clean common areas which is nice. Gym is a plus and the bar also has great happy hour deals. Other than that it is mediocre for the high price. When I tried to check in at 2:45pm I was told I had to wait until exactly 3, but then there was a lineup of 10+ people and only one staff member which delayed the whole thing for everyone... They should consider flexible check in times based on if rooms are ready. Rooms don't have personal lights or curtains either.
It does feel like they are trying to get more money from you (ex. laundry and late check outs are quite expensive, you can't rent towels you must buy, etc). Was told the pub crawl was cheaper and they encouraged me to book through front desk but when I went online it was much less (this could be the time of year, but many people overpaid because they trusted the hostel staff who said you'd get a discount).
Common areas/kitchen also close at a certain point at night, which is hard when you come back late hoping to eat some food bought before going into your room and are told you are not allowed to sit anywhere. I understand they don't want people making noise at all hours but for something that advertises itself as 24h reception you think there might be one or two tables open so you don't bother people sleeping in the room. Or at least advertise that these rules exist.
Not my worst hostel experience by any means but overall for the price I paid I was hoping for a little bit better. This is just a personal experience based on the staff I dealt with, I'm sure it varies for everyone. Had it been even slightly cheaper I would have been impressed for what it was.

I booked a 2 single bed private room. I received a 4 bunk room. No biggie. Private rooms are in a separate building… no biggie… zero hostel events, just a paid bar crawl which are all over Nice…. Meh…. Shower floor and the cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired… I wore flip flops in the shower… no biggie….Worst part….. I return to my room and it stinks of cigarettes like I left an ash trey with 50 cigarette buts .The front desk guy was sooooo nice. Came, smelled the room said it was coming from the air conditioner. Showed me another room and turned on the air but there was no cold air coming from the ac. Plus it was one floor up. If it’s coming from the ac and it worked would it be the same issue? I returned to my room, nostrils are burning. Hoping all my stuff doesn’t stink tomorrow with promises that a manager will call me… I will update

Excellent location, very close to the train station which is highly convenient and fairly close to the city centre with easy access to trams.
Looks a bit dingy when you arrive, two security doors to access which feels safe but by reading from the reviews somehow theives still get in?
Thankfully nothing happened to me while I was there. The rooms are very basic, would be nice to have some seats or cupboards to place your belongings if you're in the top bunk otherwise there's just a tiny stool. Lockers available in the room, just need a padlock. The bed however is extremely uncomfortable, has that sunken feeling, like it's been used a thousand times. The vent is filthy with old set dust. With some upgrades this hostel could be in a much better state. The communal kitchen was nice and the staff were helpful.

The one employee we interacted with was lovely. Super neat dude with great recommendations, other than that though our stay was rough. We stayed here for three days in which the bathrooms had not been cleaned, it was visibly dirty and had a gross odour, the walls are super thin. The beds and dorms felt dirty, creaky unstable bunk beds, mismatched sheets that are pilling, didn’t feel clean in the slightest. There were cob/spider webs in the corners and bugs in the room, woke up itchy with specks. It also often sounded like water was coming up the drains or that there was a pluming issue. The kitchen and common areas are nice however the dorms are outdated and not well cleaned. Would not recommend. We found it quite gross ( no offence to the staff as they are lovely) just sure there are much better, cleaner, nicer hostels within Nice where you will feel cleaner and more secure.

72 hour hostel challenge- almost died
Hostelworld lied. Recount the votes. There is no way this is ranked an 8.
My grievances:
1. Rancid smell- Did something die in our bathroom and reincarnate as the corner of mold by the toilet? Smelled terrible, fungal spawn everywhere. Bathroom door closed at all times or possible chance of death.
2. Another for the bathroom- buying towels bc the ones we got looked jankkkkk. The sheets looked like they haven’t been changed in 12 years.
3. Us (4 girls) scared when checking in- a man tweaking out and speaking to himself was in line behind us to check in and the receptionist said our room number out loud. We were uncomfortable.
4. Why did it feel like I was gonna get murdered? Walked in to dark stairs with ceiling water dripping on us and a corner full of moldy trash.
5. Never felt more dirty in my life. Did a nightly bedbug check. Felt more clean using a public bathroom. Didn’t shower a second time because I would feel more dirty doing that than not showering.
Don’t listen to Hostelworld, this is not worth it.
Lorna★☆☆☆☆
I did not have a good stay here and would recommend that you look elsewhere. I booked a 6-bed female dorm with an ensuite bathroom. This bathroom was absolutely disgusting, had a door with no lock and the floor was soaking wet. The shared bathrooms/toilets in the hostel were also not clean and smelt very bad.
Secondly, whilst this hostel claims to have a 24/7 reception, I ended up being locked outside at night as I had issues with the door codes and despite trying to call them multiple times, ringing the door bell and knocking on the door, I had no response and had to find accommodation elsewhere. The following morning I returned to the hostel and luckily a male staff member happened to be going in at the same time as me and helped me in as I had issues with the door code.
Now, is where I truly had quite a terrible experience. I returned to my room to freshen up and grab my bags since I had to find accommodation elsewhere the night before. In my 'female only' room at around 7:30-8am I found a man and woman having sex in the bunk immediately by the door and no one else in the room. The couple did not stop making out even though I had entered and was collecting my belongings. I was very annoyed as this was entirely inappropriate to say the least.
After collecting my belongings, I went to the reception where I found the male staff member that let me in. First, I discussed my concerns about being locked outside the night previous despite being a 24/7 hostel and not having the door codes made clear to me. I made it clear that this was very unsafe for a solo female traveller at night. He claimed he was attending the reception "all night" and was by the phone. This is clearly not the case as I had tried for around an hour to contact them as well as the alternative accommodation I stayed at who also helped me contact this hostel with no success. Despite my complains about this and politely asking for a refund, he was quite defensive and refused the refund. However, he did give me the codes for the doors and explained how they worked.
I then told him about the couple having sex in my room who were still there! He immediately went to look and of course they were still making out. In the middle of our conversation the male staff member was interrupted by other guests so I left and returned about an hour later.
When I returned, now able to get in with the proper door codes, I grabbed my remaining belongings and thankfully the couple had left and the bunk bed had been cleaned. The male staff member knocked on my dorm door and apologised for the couple's inappropriate behaviour, especially since this was a female-only dorm. I accepted his apology. I then spoke to him at the reception asking to cancel my remaining 2 nights and asked for a refund on those. Thankfully, he did accept this and gave me a refund on the remaining nights.
All in all, I clearly had quite a memorable experience in all the wrong ways! From arriving to a very dirty and far from glamorous hostel, to being stranded outside on my second night with no answer from their "24/7" reception, to finding a man and woman having sex in my female dorm room, this was more than enough to cancel my stay and advise that you look elsewhere if you want a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Nice.
Ryan Accomazzo★☆☆☆☆
Our group of four had a terrible experience. On the first night, all of us were bitten by bedbugs. A bed spring broke and collapsed, and the room was overcrowded, dirty, and constantly smelled like garbage.
We booked a private 4 person room weeks in advance but were placed in an 8 person shared dorm because the hostel claimed they overbooked. We later learned this was false the staff failed to disclose an active COVID outbreak, which shut down the wing with our original room. We were also housed with a COVID positive traveler.
We canceled after one night due to the unsafe conditions. The owner promised a full refund for the remaining days, then blocked our number and forced us to dispute the charge through our bank.
They deleted my previous review from 2021, so I’m reposting this in hopes it prevents even one person from staying here. Avoid this place at all costs.

Brilliant hotel. Room is clean and comfy. Connie on the reception was really kind & helpful! The area is great, close to tram and popular street with restaurants/ bars. The breakfast isn’t the best, but for the price it’s ok and I just have pastries and a hot drink. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay last weekend at Hotel du Pin. Despite the room being small, everything is super well laid out and optimised. Several mirrors and plugs super handy. In my opinion, it’s located in one of the best areas to stay in Nice. It’s surrounded by cafes and bars, and you can walk almost anywhere. The staff were very helpful. The rooms were beautifully and modernly furnished. As the city slowly woke up in the morning, enjoying the hotel’s breakfast on the open terrace was truly delightful 👍🏻

Fantastic location. Rooms are very very small though (which maybe can be expected given the location of the older part of the city). They also have had a separate dedicated coworking space that is complimentary for guests which was very convenient for us. Service was great.

Normal hotel for the price. The location is very good, and the room was cleaned every day. The bed is small, but it is fine for staying there. I stayed at Hotel Trocadero in Nice from 26 to 27 July, and unfortunately my experience left me extremely disappointed and concerned.
After leaving the hotel, I discovered that several belongings were missing from my luggage: a perfume, two pairs of swimming shorts and a sweater, with a total value of approximately €500.
What makes this particularly troubling is that I know these items were still in my luggage when I left Cannes before arriving at the hotel. I am normally extremely careful with my belongings and very rarely lose anything. After my stay at Hotel Trocadero, however, these items had simply disappeared.
I contacted the hotel three separate times to ask whether anything had been found or handed in. Each time I was told that nothing had been found.
I obviously cannot prove exactly what happened or who was responsible, but based on the circumstances, I strongly believe that the items disappeared during my stay at the hotel. Having several unrelated belongings vanish at the same time, worth around €500 in total, is extremely disturbing.
I am posting this review so that other guests can be aware of my experience. Based on what happened to me, I would personally not feel comfortable leaving valuables or personal belongings unattended in a room at this hotel.

I had a wonderful one-week stay at this hotel in Nice. It is a truly charming, comfortable, and family-oriented place that makes you feel at ease from the very beginning.
Everything is impeccably clean, and the atmosphere is calm and peaceful — perfect for a relaxing stay. The location is absolutely fantastic, with a nearby transport stop that makes it easy to get anywhere in the city.
The Wi-Fi works perfectly, which was very convenient. Breakfast is generous and well-balanced, offering a good variety of options, including sweets and fresh fruits.
I would especially like to highlight the manager, who is simply exceptional. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and her warmth and care made a real difference in our experience.
Thank you very much for such a memorable stay — I would gladly return again.

Room and breakfast were average but fine. Sadly, the WiFi was sometimes working, sometimes not.

Deeply disappointed with this hotel! I didn't even make it to my room because the receptionist couldn't (and didn't know how to) open the door! The rooms still have the keypad locking system instead of a scanning key. He didn't know how to make it work, and he knew that they keypad had some issues prior to our arrival. In addition, when I tried to leave the premises with my car parked in the underground garage, the garage door kept closing quickly, so I couldn't leave until I specified to the receptionist that he needs to hold the door open so that I can leave!
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS! STRONGLY SUGGESTING TO AVOID THIS HOTEL BY ALL MEANS!

You can’t call it a budget hotel because €85 per night without breakfast is nowhere near a budget travel rate. The room was tiny, like a ferry cabin, with little space to put away your luggage. No fridge in the room.
We took it because it was close to the airport and convenient as we had an early flight but I believe there are better deals in the same area.

Folks, I rarely leave reviews, but we genuinely felt this hotel deserved the same level of attention and care that they gave us during our stay.
Over the years we’ve stayed in many hotels, including several with higher star ratings, but this Ibis scored 110% for exactly what we wanted from a city break.
The rooms were spotless and serviced daily. Towels were replaced regularly and, importantly, the housekeeping team always checked that there was a toilet roll plus a spare available — something many hotels surprisingly overlook!
The air conditioning was a lifesaver during the high temperatures we experienced in early July. Breakfast was excellent too, with a great selection each morning, and the advice on the quieter dining times was genuinely helpful.
We also appreciated the availability of water, soft drinks, and snacks in the lobby late into the evening. Another nice touch was the range of beach essentials available to purchase in partnership with Decathlon — caps, towels, T-shirts and other useful items.
Most importantly, the courtesy and friendliness of the staff really stood out, from the reception desk to the team members we met in the corridors and lifts.
We’ll definitely be checking Ibis first for future city weekend trips.

Air conditioning helps to put the temperature maybe to +25 but not lower than that. We have changed the room to a lower floor and unfortunately it did not help either. It is a pity in warm summer months. Proximity to the beach is a huge plus, the staffs were also very nice.
Please keep in mind, that no beach towels are provided, no fridge is available either anywhere in the hotel. Hairdryer you can get from the reception

Charming, authentic, and perfectly located
Hôtel Belle Meunière is a real find just steps from the train station, making it an ideal base for exploring Nice and day trips along the Riviera.
The hotel itself oozes traditional French character, high ceilings, tall Louvre windows, and lovely Art Deco touches throughout. My single room overlooked a quiet courtyard, so I slept soundly with hardly noticble street noise. The bed was comfortable, the ensuite classic and spotlessly clean.
What really sets this place apart is the warmth of the staff and chilled vibe. Excellent English is spoken along with a wealth of local knowledge - always ready with tips on where to go and how to get there. You can tell they genuinely care. The breakfast is simple and traditional - fresh croissant, baguette, coffee - just right to start the day .
If you want to stay in a friendly, character-filled classic French hotel without the inflated price tag, whilst you explore the sights and culture in and around Nice, then this is it. Highly recommended.

Earlier this summer we stayed at Hotel Belle Meuniere.
When we first arrived we met this nice guy (who just helped out the hotel since they were short of people). He guided us to how to park outside their hotel which also was a cozy "gravelgarden" to sit in and play cards etc.
During our stay we got treated very well and got guided thru were to eat and park etc by these two nice guys from Cannes and Antibes. 5/5 stars to you guys.
Even tho the beds might need an upgrade til next time we visit Nice we enjoyed the stay and the service really recompenced the beds.

Hotel approach is lovely, on a quiet street, very Nice-like aesthetic, staff are extremely helpful and couldn’t do anymore for us, the building feels very secure.
The reception sells soft drinks for fair prices.

Location to Nice-Ville station is fantastic, 15 min walk to the Nice sea front, plenty of restaurants nearby!
Can leave bags after check out for free which is very helpful!

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights and while the room was a little tight, it was worth it for the price, location, and a very cute neighborhood cat that visited the lobby occasionally. The hotel is right next to la promenade du paillon and Old Nice, but not in the most touristy part.
The receptionists were very nice and accommodating. The only reasons I couldn't give 5 stars for room/service were that the cleaning staff entered my room once despite hanging the "do not disturb sign" and I did find a silverfish in the bathroom the first night. Having some ventilation in the bathroom might reduce the risk of bugs, but not a huge deal, as the bathroom was impeccably clean.
Overall I would recommend, and I might go back if I'm ever in Nice again.

Rooms are very small. Breakfast bar was adequate but not the best selection of items though the items they do have are well attended-to and restocked constantly. The staff is very friendly especially the folks who keep the breakfast bar restocked.
It's an older, smaller, budget hotel but kept very clean by an attentive staff.
Location is fantastic with the old part of Nice just a stone's throw away and the beach/boardwalk about a 10 minute walk. Nice-Riquier station about 10 mins walk for getting to-from Monaco (we were in town for the Grand Prix weekend).
This was one of the "affordable" options for Nice but was still quite expensive for what it was. 3.5 stars bumped up to a 4 for Google because of location and unlimited mini croissants at the breakfast bar.
Gizem O★★★★☆
Stayed for two nights but didn’t spend so much time in the room so although the room was tiny it wasn’t a problem for us. We could only open our two luggage and there was very limited walking area was left. Room was clean, staff was fine.
There is parking in front of the hotel, but it doesn't belong to the hotel; paid parking is available nearby.

Really great customer service, all the receptionists were helpful and nice. The location is GREAT, nearby the old town and the city center, and the area is not too busy. Walking distance from everything and the tram is just 1min away. The rooms were not that big but also as a tourist you are always exploring outside. I had all the comfort I needed, private bathroom and bed, and breakfast is also available, and it was delicious.

Staff was really nice, hotel really clean. But our room was extremely small 3 beds connected to each other.

We had a great time here! The rooms are huge and the AC works great. The hallway leading to the room from the elevator was musty smelling, but the room itself was clean and had everything we needed. I guess we did long for a mini fridge at one point but it wasn’t a big deal not to have one. The shower drain was clogged and the sink was kinda musty too but I guess it just didn’t bother us all too much, and we never alerted the front desk about it. It all drained eventually 🙂 It was awesome to get extra towels from the front desk and take them to the beach. There is a nice cold water dispenser by reception. They have wine and snacks at a vending machine. The hotel is close to a Lime scooter parking area and we really loved a bar down the street called Vibes and a coffee shop called Alvin’s. Anna at the front desk was absolutely lovely. I’m not sure who he spoke to, but my boyfriend was able to get flowers delivered to our room ahead of our arrival and they were gorgeous! It’s not fancy, but it was a great landing spot for us. I’d recommend it!

This is a clean functional great sized budget hotel - the staff are actually genuinely the best and informative..its modern (USB sockets) and was very very quiet.
The AC is an absolute gem it is the most powerful & coldest Ive ever felt it was superb when returning back from the 30-33c daytimes..
I would stay again but bring a cool bag for drinks and a cloth to wipe up ad hoc...

Just arrived home after spending 2 nights here with my daughter. Check in was smooth with a lovely friendly receptionist, room was basic but had everything we needed and was spacious.
The location is fantastic, close to the tram for the airport, the port, the train station and there's plenty of restaurants near by, we enjoyed spending the evening at Place du Pin, beautiful little place.
Train station was around 5-10 minutes walk to get the train to Monaco, lots of boulangerie on the way for breakfast and coffee.
A massive thank you to all the girls on reception, they are all lovely and friendly and helpful 🤍
Will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Nice, merci beaucoup 🤍

Amazing stay! I’m quite sensitive to noise, so I always request a quiet room. The staff truly took great care to arrange a perfectly quiet room for me. Everyone is incredibly friendly. Special thanks to Anna! Will definitely come back again!

I was pretty impressed. For the price, the rooms were great. All you really need. Clean and comfortable beds. The location was great and the parking was reasonably priced. The staff were great too. It’s like a best western back in Canada.

The hotel was nice. There were various room sizes. Mine was smaller yet comfortable one, but it could use some renovation, such as fixing the bathroom door handle.
In the room however a big plus for me was the capsule coffee maker and the electric kettle. There were coffee mugs as well and the atmosphere was quite comfortable.
The services were excellent, the room was kept in its best condition throughout our stay and the staff was very kind and attentive.
The breakfast was amazing- the food was fresh and tasty while the view and atmosphere of the room were lovely. I think the hotel offers all three meals at an affordable price as well if you can attend.
The location is perfect if you are ready to spend your time exploring- it's a few minutes away from the train station and it's surrounded by many local restaurants for all budgets.
At the same time it is very close to the beach and all restaurants with a view of the sea which was a great plus as well.

Hotel de Berne are a beautiful little boutique hotel situated in nice in a perfect location right next to the tram and train, and only a 15 minute walk to the beach. The rooms are clean, new and spacious which made our trip to nice more comfortable. The staff at this hotel are so so lovely and accommodating, even to the point where I had left my handbag in the room following check out and they shipped it to my home. I could not recommend this hotel more especially for the value for money as it is a cheap price considering how great of a place it is. 5 stars!

Everything was definitely better than expected for this type of hotel near the train station—the location was convenient, we felt safe and it wasn't noisy. The room was small but clean. The staff were polite. Good value for money for a short stay.

I had a wonderful stay at Hôtel de Berne in Nice. From my experience, this hotel does not feel like a two, star hotel at all , it truly has the quality and atmosphere of a three-star hotel, and in my opinion, it deserves to be recognised as such.
The welcome was excellent: the staff were extremely professional, kind, polite, and also very friendly and cheerful. A special thank you to Lounis, who welcomed me during my late-night arrival with great kindness, professionalism, and a lovely smile that immediately made me feel comfortable after a long journey. I would also like to thank Tiago, who was very warm and helpful, providing useful advice about taxis and directions to discover different places around the city. Both of them were wonderful representatives of the hotel.
The cleanliness was outstanding. The room was cleaned every day to a very high standard, the bed was made perfectly, towels were changed regularly, and I did not notice any dust or dirt anywhere. The housekeeping team was very polite, discreet, and did an excellent job.
The room itself was small but very charming, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I loved the attention to detail: there was a kettle with tea facilities, coffee machine, sugar, and a small fridge, which made the stay even more comfortable. The decoration and style gave the room a lovely character.
The location is also excellent. The hotel is very close to the train station and within easy reach of the old town and many restaurants. Thanks to the convenient transport connections, I was able to easily visit places such as Menton, Antibes, and Villefranche-sur-Mer. It is also very easy to reach the airport, with the tram connection taking only a few minutes.
I would highly recommend Hôtel de Berne to anyone visiting Nice. Thank you again to the whole team, especially Lounis and Tiago, for making my stay so pleasant. I hope to return to Nice very soon, and when I do, I will definitely choose to stay here again.
Cynthia.

We booked Hotel de Berne for 2 nights which were great. It’s not a 5 star hotel but it works great for the location and price. The bed was comfy and while other reviewers commented on it being loud, our room faced the train station and we slept in until 10. I wouldn’t say noise is an issue but we were there on a Sunday & Monday night. 20 minute walk to Old Town and easy to get around to other areas by foot or public transit. The staff were friendly and we left our bags for a couple of hours after checkout with no issues.

We spent a few nights at this hotel and had a very pleasant stay. The breakfast was lovely. Although the selection was the same every day, it was tasty and enjoyable. The lobby, lift, corridors, and our room were all clean. Housekeeping vacuumed the room daily, made the beds, and changed the towels.
The hotel is not brand new, but that is accurately reflected in the photos, so there were no surprises. The location was perfect for us. The train station was only about a 10-minute walk away, making it easy to visit other cities. There were also plenty of shops, restaurants, and shopping streets within walking distance.
Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.

Firstly I describe the negative sights :
1) rooms that we seen don’t match the images posted on Google account of the hotel as well as on Booking website or Agoda, that’s disappointing to arrive and see something absolutely different and worse. Rooms are very old and need improvement.
2) rooms are painted in a weird blue colour that’s not pleasing the eye at all ( look at the photographs attached), the carpet on the floor looks very old. We arrived at night and the carpet in our room had a terrible smell of vomit, and they couldn’t give us another room as they were full. Room had a fake window as well that faced ventilation hub. They shouldn’t rent a room with such a disgusting smell. We couldn’t wait until the morning to leave.
3) In the morning they offered another room that had a strong bitter odour of tobacco. As soon as I opened the door it hit me strongly, so we rejected that room. And by the afternoon when we got back in the evening ( we had to leave our bags at the storage room, which was quite inconvenient). The third room was a lot better, and had even a little balcony. At least was tidy and clean, but same blue walls. Was ok to stay another night.
4) rooms aren’t sound isolated, first morning we had lot of construction noise inside the building from 8am. Second morning loud neighbours from 7am.
The positive sights:
1) has AC
2) the bedsheets were clean and matras is fine, quite comfortable sleep
3) the lobby area is nice and modern ( my suggestion that they need to post real pictures of the rooms, and renovate them)
4) the bathroom was fine and clean
5) the reception communication was nice
6) the location is nice and it’s a 20min walk to the beach and 30min walk to the train station, 12 min walk to the tram station to go to the airport
We wouldn’t come back as the room wasn’t for us price/value match. ( old outdated design of the room)
From the uploaded images you’ll find the first room and the second one with a balcony.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.
The room looked nothing like the photos advertised online. It was in a very poor condition, with visible mold, water damage, peeling paint, rust in the bathroom, and an overall lack of cleanliness. It felt neglected, unhygienic, and completely different from what we had booked.
Because of these conditions, we didn't stay even a single night, despite having paid around €800 for our reservation. Instead of enjoying the beginning of our holiday in Nice, we were forced to leave immediately with all of our luggage and spend hours searching for another hotel at the last minute. This completely disrupted our vacation and caused us a great deal of stress.
What disappointed us even more was the attitude of the staff. They showed very little empathy or willingness to help. No alternative solution was offered, and we felt as though we were being treated like we were trying to take advantage of the situation, rather than being guests who had paid a significant amount for accommodation that clearly did not match what was advertised. As foreign guests, this interaction left us feeling unfairly judged and unwelcome.
To make matters even worse, we have still not received a refund. Booking.com informed us that they were unable to reach an agreement with the property because the hotel refused to cooperate regarding our refund request. We paid approximately €800 for a room we never used, solely because its condition was unacceptable and completely different from the listing.
We trusted the photos and description when making the booking, but the reality was completely different. We cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. We strongly encourage future guests to think twice before booking, as our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
ST S★★☆☆☆
The location was as described and the staff were welcoming; however, the room itself appeared to be a repurposed back-office storage space adjacent to the reception area. The room has no privacy, as the street-level window is allowing every passenger to to see directly into the room. Marketing this space as a standard room is not only significantly disappointing from a guest's perspective, but also of questionable legal compliance.
Paul Hung★★★★☆
Room is a bit outdated and small but clean and bed is comfortable. The front deck is helpful. Our plane arrived in the morning as soon as we check-in and was able to assign a room for us. Location is convenient just 15mins walk to the old town and the port. Wi-Fi signal is excellent.
There is a new park just outside the hotel and our room has views.

I don't often leave a negative review for a hotel, but this is the worst Accor hotel I ever stayed in. Definitely not a 4-star and probably worse than many 3-star Ibis. Overall it feels like a low-end, cheap serviced apartment with the Adagio brand name.
Rooms need some serious refurbishment - the floor looks very dated, and there are cracks on the floor, walls and ceiling, which I don't typically expect to see in 4-star hotels.
Very unprofessional staff, and probably significantly understaffed. As a gold card member I asked about the welcome drink they offer, and they explained that only juice and coffee were offered. When I asked if wine or other drinks are offered (as many other Accor hôtels offer), the staff essentially LAUGHED at me and said 'there's no free wine in France'. Well, many other Accor 4-star do offer wine as welcome drink and that's why I asked. I understand each hotel could differ in their offering, but the attitude of the staff is regrettably intolerable.
When we were checking out, the reception desk also seemed extremely busy and working under stress.
Breakfast is simple and plain, and definitely not worth the 18 euros they charge per person.
Location is near the beach and that's probably the only good side of it.

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience, primarily due to the level of service by the staff.
Staff are very unfriendly, rude and unhelpful.
Throughout my stay, I found several staff members to be unhelpful and unapproachable. On multiple occasions when I asked for assistance, staff offered minimal guidance, or sat on their seat on their phone and just told me to deal with it which made it difficult to resolve even simple requests.
The most concerning experience occurred during check-out. The staff member at reception was notably unfriendly and dismissive. I felt that other local guests were prioritised and served others behind me in the line. Also when I asked about a welcome drink included with my Accor membership, the response was handled in an unprofessional manner. The staff walked to the back and made dismissive comments with another staff with a disgusted facial expression right in front of me that felt inappropriate and disrespectful. It was left me feel very uncomfortable.
Will not recommend this hotel to family or friends at all. It’s not worth the money spent! If you are considering this hotel, I would recommend looking for an accommodation that has better trained staff who are actually friendly and helpful. It will make a big difference to your visit to Nice.
Assaf Cohen★★★★★
Well let begin with the room. It's an apartment as you can understand from the name. You will get a kitchen with dishwasher stove microwave fridge and you can ask for a coffee machine.
There are plenty of supermarkets and restaurants so I don't see any reason to add 18-20€ for breakfast.
The room is clean take in account that if you wish for a daily cleaning it's an extra.
There are no drapes on the windows so you wake up when the sun is.
TV is tiny.
It can be kept a bit better the chairs on the balcony are on the end of their life.
There is a back exit strait to tram station
vikram jain★☆☆☆☆
Very disappointing stay.
The receptionist with curly hair was extremely rude and made what I perceived to be a racist remark, which was upsetting and completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, she was repeatedly engaging in intimate behavior with her girlfriend at the reception desk. As I was traveling with my young teenage daughters, this created an uncomfortable atmosphere in what should have been a professional hotel environment.
The lift was not working during our stay, forcing us to carry all of our luggage up four flights of stairs. There was also no housekeeping service throughout our 4-day stay. This was not made sufficiently clear during the booking process and should be prominently disclosed on the website before guests make a reservation.
We were not provided with fresh towels during the entire stay, and guests were expected to collect their own rubbish and take it down to the ground-floor bins themselves.
Overall, the lack of basic hotel services, the non-functioning lift, and the unprofessional behavior at reception made this a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this property to families.
shailaja singh★☆☆☆☆
Well the entire hotel has cheap vibes and nothing like the images(scam) or worthy of 4 star hotel. Not sure how it is in accor chain. I did change my hotel to have better vacation.
About room : sink in the bathroom had leakage, has no inside lock to the room(security concern), tv has no channels neither it is smart one, the roof top has depleting condition furniture for sunbathing, AC cooling wasn’t working. Tram noise was little disturbing.
Charged 10euro as tax, which I confirmed with other hotel I moved after this pathetic one, is too high.
About receptionist Olena : well after living and working in Paris, I brushed her off initially and gave benefit of doubt. I was too exhausted to care about her attitude. But at the time of my check out, I realised and can confirm she is little off towards brown skin community and extra sweet towards pale skin people!
Well in short, if you are used to Marriott bonvoy, IHCL chains then this hotel is of OYO crappy hotel styles & standard. Not recommended.

Stayed here for one night after landing at Nice airport late at night. Location is ideal for walking from Terminal 1. The hotel itself is basic, low end 3 star. Not the cleanest, hairs on the side and floor of the shower when I checked in. The room was small, but for one night its O.k. the 12pm checkout was actually really helpful.

The rooms, service, and location were all quite good. 🏨 However, breakfast was a bit chaotic with many tour bus guests, leading to coffee lines. ☕ And for eggs? You had to boil them yourself, which wasn't ideal. 🍳 Still, a decent stay overall! 👍

Staff here were super helpful and friendly. The room was clean, beds comfortable. Noise was a bit annoying, I guess people are coming and going, checking in/out at all hours. That's not the hotel's fault though, people should know better to keep the noise down during the night. Definitely a handy spot to stay. But be warned, google maps *WILL* lead you astray trying to find it!

It was a very nice quiet hotel in an amazing location, very close to the city centre, the train station, the tram stops, the malls and the beach but still away from the noise and traffic of the centre. The hotel’s best feature is undoubtedly its location; central, convenient, and perfect for exploring the city. However, that’s where the positives mostly end. The rooms are extremely small; if you're traveling as a pair, expect to feel crammed in like sardines. The toilet is tiny and coffin-like, and although the washroom is somewhat manageable, it has serious mold issues.
Water takes forever to heat up, leading to unnecessary waste, though once it gets going, the temperature is fine. The dining room is as cramped as the rooms, and asking for more croissants earns you disapproving looks.

Great Location for a Hotel!
The room was small. We had a balcony which was great.
The elevator is old. The stairs are also not in their best shape.

Really great location! My sister and I stayed here, and sometimes after dinner we’d come back late — the walk back to the hotel always felt safe. The street is well-lit, the neighborhood is calm and peaceful, and it’s right in front of a lovely church.
The only downside: the walls are very thin — we could hear our lovely German neighbors chatting away in the morning 😅😂. Pack some earplugs and you’ll be just fine!
The front desk staff were extremely kind and caring. Checkout was at 11, which we completely missed — but they didn’t make a fuss at all and kindly got us sorted. You can also hang out in the lobby if you’ve checked out and are waiting for a train or flight. Super convenient

Tips for Booking a Cheap Hotel in Nice
Booking a budget hotel in a premium destination like Nice requires a slightly different strategy than simply sorting by the lowest nightly rate. The city’s pricing is heavily influenced by seasonality, major events, and how early you plan.
A few smart habits can mean the difference between a cramped room far from the action and a genuinely pleasant stay steps from the sea. Use these practical tips to sharpen your search and protect your travel budget.
1). Travel in the shoulder season
Nice is dramatically cheaper from late September to early November and again from March to early May. You will still get mild weather, fewer crowds, and far lower room rates than in July or during the Nice Carnival in February.
2). Book directly with the hotel when possible
Many small independent hotels offer a direct-booking discount, a free breakfast, or a flexible cancellation policy that online travel agencies cannot match. A quick phone call or email can sometimes unlock a better price.
3). Use the tram to widen your search radius
The clean, efficient tram lines make neighbourhoods such as Libération, Gare du Sud, and even parts of Riquier practical bases. Staying two or three stops from the centre often cuts your nightly rate by 20 to 30 per cent.
4). Check what is included before comparing prices
A hotel that appears slightly more expensive may actually be cheaper once you factor in free breakfast, reliable Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and luggage storage. Read the fine print on city tax and mandatory extras.
5). Look for weekly or multi-night discounts
Many budget hotels in Nice reward longer stays with reduced nightly rates. If your itinerary allows three or more nights in one place, you can often negotiate a better deal or find an automatic long-stay discount.
6). Read recent reviews for noise and cleanliness, not just style
In older Riviera buildings, room quality can vary enormously within the same hotel. Focus on guest comments from the last six months, and request a quiet interior-facing room if you are a light sleeper.
Choosing the right cheap hotel in Nice is less about finding the absolute lowest price and more about matching a property’s strengths to your travel style. A solo traveller may prioritise a central location and 24-hour reception, while a couple might prefer a quiet residential street with a short tram ride to the beach.
Once your room is sorted, the city opens up beautifully. You can spend your days wandering the ochre lanes of Vieux Nice, swimming at Castel Plage, or catching the bus to Villefranche-sur-Mer, knowing that your accommodation is comfortable, well located, and kind to your budget.
