I highly recommend the baked eggs at this restaurant; they are truly innovative and delicious. The mushroom variety is particularly noteworthy, as it offers a delightful experience akin to Alfredo sauce, but with eggs instead of chicken. Additionally, I must say that I enjoyed one of the best coffees I’ve ever had there. It was so exceptional that I considered purchasing extra coffee to take home. Unfortunately, they do not sell coffee beans, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for brunch, as it offers a unique and satisfying dining experience.
Deniz Deniz★★★★★
We Tried baked eggs with mushrooms / specials with sweet potato and baked egg with ham. The portion size is more than enough for one. Waiters were lovely. Had to wait a bit but overall great breakfast.
Donna Li★★★★★
Busy vibe. The baked eggs are delicious. The salmon toasty is so good. Strongly recommended! Also the homemade peanut butter toast is so unique. the roasted peanut with honey and banana perfectly matched.

Wonderful decoration. Impressive latte art which is copying my friend’s outfit!! Very sweet coffee of course. They make fresh juices from the squeezing machine. Food looks good and tastes good. Highly recommended.

Cutest cafe. Very welcoming. The coffee was yum and we got the most adorable designs on the coffee. We also asked for a personalised one as a memory for our girls trip and were surprised with an amazing design. Definitely recommended if your in Madrid 🤌🏼

One of the best eggs Benedict I’ve had! Perfectly cooked poached eggs. The miso and sichuan oil were a great combination and can’t miss it. We also had the avocado toast with truffle sauce which was great as well. The açaí smoothie was fresh and refreshing too. We ended with an almond cake which was awesome, highly recommend this place!
Kremena Ivanova★★★★★
Absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was wonderful, warm and welcoming, and our waitress was absolutely lovely and made the whole experience even better. She was so friendly, attentive and kind. I had the bacon sandwich and it was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place! ❤️

Thanks Jason for the brilliant service. The Cantonese style scrambled eggs were some of the best I’ve ever had and the ‘soft’ cortado as this cafe cutely calls it was perfection. Brazilian coffee beans brewed just right. Come a bit earlier in the day so you don’t need to wait in line. Interiors are also so charming.
Brianna Pedraza★★★★★
Busy restaurant and there can be a line, but don’t stress and don’t let that deter you from waiting. The wait doesn’t take long! The service here is fantastic, quick and genuine. Very good food and coffee as well. We were very happy with this place and would came back! Thanks to server Cami for helping us have a good experience here

Beautiful place with a truly magical atmosphere. I absolutely loved the interior design, the vibe, and the overall feeling of the space. It is one of those places where you instantly feel relaxed and want to stay longer. The staff and service were also excellent, very friendly and attentive. We especially loved the matcha with coconut water. It was delicious and definitely something I would order again. As for the food, it was just okay. We tried the scrambled eggs with avocado and the eggs Benedict. The brunch dishes were decent, but not particularly memorable. Still, I would definitely come back for the atmosphere and would love to try some of the pastries or cakes next time.

We went there as a couple only looking for some great cocktails (one of their strongest points) and sweets. Ainoha who served us was very accommodating and willing to go above and beyond. 5 stars for her. What we did not appreciate - hence my low rating: - we had to wait at least 20 minutes. For good restaurants that’s understandable. However there were 4 seats available upstairs (two at the bar, two at a free table). 5 people waiting before us, none of them seated - nor us - at these free seats. When we finally got seated downstairs there were two other free tables with 4 more free seats. - the cocktail guy (or girl 🤍) was free today. So they had no cocktails. Unacceptable for such a busy place in the middle of Madrid - we had two of the menu’s stars: the pistachio pancakes and the cinnamon rolls. The pancakes were a disappointment for me - three pancakes, good looking, with a bit of pistachio frosting and icecream on top. But tasteless otherwise. I would not recommend. I appreciated the roll - very sweet for my husband yet ok for me. - very difficult to drink coffee out of the very nice looking cups I would definitely not recommend nor come again.

This breakfast spot was absolutely incredible!! We just needed a place that opened early before we left for the airport, and we were very happy for an 8am opening. My daughter had the burger (yes, for breakfast, and she wasn’t the only one!) and I had the French toast. I didn’t get to taste the burger because it was completely gone before I had a chance to ask for a bite. But the French toast, besides the beautiful display, came with a little scoop of ice cream that nicely replaced the need for syrup, plus fresh strawberries and blueberries and a caramelized banana. The details were so nicely done. Even my cappuccino was so beautifully crafted! I cannot recommend this place enough. Every food item that came out to other tables looks delicious and I’m sending my other daughter here when she studies in Madrid next semester!
Juan Campo★★★★☆
It’s a popular tourist spot, so it’s usually bustling with visitors, partly because of its reputation and the hype surrounding it. The atmosphere is lively, but it definitely feels quite touristy. The food is decent overall, although the menu leans heavily toward desserts. One thing I didn’t particularly like is their practice of encouraging customers to leave a five-star review at the end of the meal. When it seems to be a standard part of the experience, it takes away some of the authenticity and usefulness of the reviews when deciding whether to visit. The approach to tipping also felt a bit excessive. Overall, the food is decent, but considering the crowds and potential wait, I’m not sure the experience is worth the hype.
Sarah Dettmann★★★★★
Brunch here ! Such a good spot. Amazing food, service, and I loved the vibes/ decor. The salmon Benedict was super fresh, and the potato waffle with truffle mushroom is a must if you love mushrooms. The Pistachio Obsession café was creamy, aesthetic, and honestly so good. Alejandro gave great service, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Would definitely go back.
The Foodie Crusader★★★★★
This place had a bit of a wait, but i think it was worth it. Its very nice and cozy inside. The staff is nice and friendly. The food was excellent. The latte was delicious. The Spanish omelet was super yummy. It basically reminds me of potatoes au gratin wrapped with a thin sheet of egg. I got mine with pork belly and it was delicious and filling for me. We ordered the French toast by mistake but it worked out for us. It was absolutely delicious. The toast was soft, sweet, and flavorful, the ice cream and fresh berries made it all come together nicely. The prices are reasonable. I would definitely come back, and i would make this a must visit.

Very friendly and attentive service. We were served by Noelia, and we really appreciated her warmth and cheerful attitude. The food was good, although we would have appreciated a wider selection of savoury options.

We highly recommend Billy Brunch if you're in Madrid! The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was really cool, warm, and pleasant. The whole experience was great from start to finish. A special thanks to Yuri, who was incredibly friendly, spoke excellent English, and made us feel comfortable throughout our visit. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

I was looking for a brunch place in Madrid that had outdoor seating so I can take in the views of the city. This was such a cute brunch place, great vibes, and the food was delicious. My server Alexis was very helpful and attentive. He served me water and made sure I was comfortable while I waited for my outside table, and he had it ready for me as soon as they were done eating. Highly recommend this place 🙂

Searched online for the best pancake stack and this one came up on top with 4.9 stars. Quaint place with some cool and unusual art decor, creating a warm and comfy space. We only ordered 2 pancake stacks and a coffee, which were delicious. Our waitress was Romina, and she was friendly and accommodating despite our lack of spanish. Our food took very long to come out despite the place being quiet. The bright side to this is thay we did not feel rushed at all. Another cute thing they do, is to present the bill in an egg box. Loved that. A very memorable experience.
Winnie Li★★★★☆
It’s a really cute cafe, I like the Egg Benedict, especially the potato inside! You can enjoy a good time here. Only small improvement is that for the mushroom toast is a bit dry for me. Overall it’s highly recommended for relaxing here~ Thank you the staff, Alan, is really nice ✨ providing the good service. We have a good time here.

Had a great experience at this cafe. We had coffee and Diet Coke and split a piece of homemade bizcocho which was very delicious. Moist and buttery and a good size. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and we lacked nothing. We had a coffee on the way to an exhibit at Caixa forum. What a great decision. When the weather is warmer they have a nice little sidewalk terrace which also seems tempting.
Ivet Nikolova★★★★☆
A good spot to grab lunch. I recommend the grilled chicken salad and the shrimp BaoBuns. We also tried the mini kebabs, chicken quesadillas and the guacamole. Everything was delicious and got prepared quite quickly. Seating on the patio includes additional charge.

What a great brunch spot! Walking in during the very late morning on a Friday in September, I got a seat right away. The space is small, but they use the space well to fit a handful of small tables. The server was very quick and friendly. He recommended the chilaquiles with beef and wow. It was excellent as was the pistachio latte. I’d definitely go back!

What a wonderful find in the heart of La Latina! Cocuiza is a charming, quaint brunch spot where it’s immediately clear that real time, care, and attention go into every dish. Everything we tried was meticulously prepared and beautifully presented, with interesting flavour combinations that were both creative and absolutely delicious. The recommendations were excellent and made the whole experience even better. The owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and took the time to explain everything perfectly, which added such a personal touch to our visit. A truly special little place with fantastic food, unique flavours, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended — we will definitely be coming back!
Emmett Grames★★★★★
Surprisingly large portions, be ready to share if you order one of the pancake stacks. Really good food, fresh drinks, and service, the prices are a bit higher but for the quantity and quality it really is worth it. The staff were very friendly. We got there early on a Sunday, but if you plan to go mid-morning you might want to call ahead and reserve a table, they were very busy when we left, with a line out the door.
Olivia Seward★★★★★
Best breakfast place in Madrid. If you care about food…come here!! The pancakes were the best I’ve ever had in my life- perfect flavor and perfect texture. The hash browns were also great too. I will be coming back to try more on the menu. Also mentioning there’s self serve water which is great!! So happy we found this spot.
Sarah Terry★★★★★
I got the watermelon juice & sweet salty chicken. This is way better than any chicken & waffles I’ve had in the USA. Amazing. Great sauce& flavor. I like the coleslaw on it too. It was very busy so I would recommend making a reservation.

Best brunch / breakfast we had in Madrid. 4 of us booked and it was nice and quiet with a cosy and bright atmosphere. Plenty of space and loads of natural light. Staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Food was delicious and we all went the for the menu option. Mimosas were great and only a €!!!! Coffee was lovely and we all had a great time. Cheesecake was to die for. Can’t recommend this place enough.

A special shoutout to our waitress, Dani, who was absolutely amazing and made our experience even better. This place is highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

This was THE BEST brunch ever period. EVERY SINGLE THING on the menu is absolutely delicious and seasoned to perfection, including the ice cold fresh juices ( the green juice is the best Ive ever had I drank 3 very fast ) / chilled still water / All the coffee beverages are a home run you cannot go wrong. I highly recommend ordering one of everything plus fries and extra sides of the hollandaise sauce for dipping. The service was excellent, professional, warm, friendly and fast. The atmosphere is so comfortable upbeat and welcoming, good music such an excellent place to hang out with friends and eat delicious food!!

Carmencita is an awesome brunch spot, the staff is super friendly, the dishes come out really well served and fairly priced, the Cris Crust was delicious, and the side yogurt bowl (included in the price) had amazingly fresh fruit and homemade granola that tasted incredible, making it one of those places in Madrid you leave already planning to come back.

Brunch at Carmencita was great. The eggs Benedict with salmon were delicious definitely a highlight. Only downside was they were a bit light on the sweet potato fries. The carrot cake though? One of the best I’ve had, hands down. One tip: skip the coffee. It’s just not their strong suit. But food-wise, solid brunch spot.
Elisa j★★★★★
We got the chorizo egg benedicts, the bea licious toast, turmeric late and guacamole as a side, all was really good, service was super friendly and pretty quick, would definitely recommend if you are around and want to get a nice brunch ! (Also the portions were really big size wise so I don’t think you need more than one dish or formula per person except if you are VERY hungry). They do have takeaway boxes if needed however 😉
Dimitri Katsabanis★★★★★
Shout out to our waiter Sergio. We had 4 kids with us and he was amazing from start to finish with all the chaos going on. The food and drinks were nothing short of top tier. I had to order the Purple Rain drink twice because it was just that good. I highly suggest the Carlos Rancheros, absolutely incredible. If you’re in the area this is a Must Visit! There’s a reason they have almost 2k reviews with an almost impeccable 5* rating.
Sonia Q★★★★★
Such yummy and tasteful food. Service with a smile. We ordered a huevos rancheros and salmon eggs Benedict with orange strawberry fresh squeezed juice and an iced caramel latte. Delicious!
Toni Adetayo★★★★★
1 euro mimosas were amazing. Very well balanced would recommend. We got the pitcher for 8€ and got probably 9-10 glasses out of it. We ordered the foothills burger, pitiful picadillo Benedict, Carlos rancheros. All of them were fantastic especially the benedict! All strong recommendations. I recommend a reservation for sure as they are often busy. Amazing service from Daniela, couldn't have asked for more from her!

We came here for brunch. A group of 9 people. The Teques were the perfect starter to share with the cilantro sauce that was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their dish, they were very tasty and reasonable portions. The Golden sky latte (I asked for oat milk) was very yummy and I loved the teddy bear cup, that was very cute. The strawberry lemonade was also fantastic. The meals were served quick and the service was good. €192 for 9 people which included 2 entries 9 meals and 9 drinks.

Tips for Enjoying Breakfast and Brunch Near El Retiro Park

To make the most of your morning meal in this bustling area, a little local knowledge goes a long way. The rhythm of Madrid is unique, and understanding the timing and customs of dining here will significantly enhance your experience. The following tips will help you navigate the scene like a seasoned local, ensuring you get the best table, the freshest food, and the most enjoyable atmosphere without the stress of long waits or unexpected surprises.

1. Understand the Local Timing
Spaniards typically eat breakfast later than many other nationalities. While you can find places open early for coffee and a pastry, most kitchens for full brunch menus do not open until 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM. If you want to avoid the crowds and secure a table on the terrace, aim to arrive right when the kitchen opens or before 10:30 AM, especially on weekends.

2. Make Reservations for Weekend Brunch
The brunch culture near El Retiro is incredibly popular, and the best spots fill up fast on Saturdays and Sundays. If you have your heart set on a specific trendy cafe, do not rely on walk-in availability. Check if the restaurant accepts reservations online or by phone, and book a day or two in advance to avoid standing in a long queue.

3. Don’t Skip the Traditional Spanish Options
While it is tempting to seek out familiar brunch foods like eggs benedict or pancakes, be sure to try the local specialties. Look for "pan con tomate" (bread rubbed with ripe tomato and olive oil), "tortilla española" (Spanish potato omelet), or "churros con chocolate." These dishes are often the true test of a kitchen’s quality and offer an authentic taste of Madrid.

4. Combine Your Meal with a Park Stroll
Maximize your experience by planning your meal around your park activities. Consider grabbing a takeaway coffee and a pastry to enjoy on a bench inside El Retiro early in the morning for a quieter experience. Alternatively, have a hearty brunch first, then enter the park via the Puerta de Alcalá entrance to walk off the calories while exploring the Crystal Palace.

5. Check for "Menu del Dia" vs. Brunch Pricing
Be mindful of pricing structures. While a dedicated brunch menu often includes a drink and a main course for a set price, ordering a la carte items separately can sometimes add up quickly. Conversely, some cafes offer a fantastic value "menu del dia" during the week that includes a starter, main, dessert, and drink for less than a weekend brunch plate.

6. Explore the Side Streets
The main avenues directly facing the park, such as Calle de Alcalá, can sometimes be pricier due to the view. However, if you venture just one or two blocks back into the Barrio de Salamanca or towards the Ibiza neighborhood, you will often find more authentic, budget-friendly cafes where the quality is just as high, if not higher, and the clientele is mostly local.

The area surrounding El Retiro Park is a treasure trove of culinary delights that perfectly mirrors the city’s dynamic spirit. From the first sip of a perfectly pulled espresso to the last bite of a decadent dessert, these breakfast and brunch spots provide the fuel needed to explore one of Madrid’s most beautiful landmarks. Choosing any one of these locations ensures that your day starts on a deliciously high note.

After your meal, you can seamlessly transition into the tranquility of the park, feeling energized and satisfied. Whether you are a traveler seeking the authentic taste of the city or a local looking for a new weekend haunt, the vibrant food scene near El Retiro guarantees a memorable experience. So, set your alarm, bring your appetite, and discover why this neighborhood is the perfect place to start any day in Madrid.
