Sitting on the rocky coast of Spain’s Costa Brava, Cadaqués is a place that feels suspended in time. The whitewashed buildings, the gentle lap of the Mediterranean against fishing boats, and the legacy of Salvador Dalí create an atmosphere that is both bohemian and deeply authentic.
Unlike the more commercialized resorts further down the coast, Cadaqués has fiercely protected its unique character. The winding, narrow streets of the Old Town and the dramatic natural landscape of Cap de Creus make dining here about more than just the food; it is about the sensory experience of the setting itself.
Because of its isolated location and artistic heritage, the culinary scene in Cadaqués is remarkably diverse for a town of its size. You are just as likely to find a Michelin-starred tasting menu as you are a rustic tavern serving grilled sardines caught that very morning by local fishermen.
The local gastronomy is deeply rooted in the "mar i muntanya" (sea and mountain) tradition of Catalan cooking. This means menus often feature a beautiful contrast of fresh seafood paired with earthy meats, wild mushrooms, and the rich flavors of olive oil from the Empordà region.
Navigating the dining options can be overwhelming, especially during the busy summer months when demand is high and quality can vary. Knowing where the locals go, rather than just the tourists, is the key to unlocking the true flavors of this coastal gem.
Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner overlooking the bay, a quick bite after hiking through Cap de Creus, or the perfect paella, this guide is curated to help you eat well. We have focused on establishments that offer consistency, quality ingredients, and that undeniable Cadaqués charm.
To ensure you spend your time savoring the food rather than searching for it, we have compiled a list of the most noteworthy tables in town. Here are the best restaurants in Cadaqués for an unforgettable meal.

Truly a wonderful dining experience worth seeking out. We were at the Dali Museum nearby and came upon this place for lunch. The chef/owner is passionate about the food he prepares, took the time to explain the menu to us and curated a wonderful meal. He brought out some wines to choose from, showed us the fresh tuna he had, then went off to work his magic.
This meal was the highlight of our trip to Spain!
René Schellrich★★★★★
We visited El Rebost de Cadaqués on my birthday after spending the day at the Dalí Museum in Figueres, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
The owner is an incredibly warm and genuine person. You can immediately tell that he truly loves what he does and puts his heart into every detail. He even gave us a short tour of the kitchen, which made the experience feel very personal and special.
The food was outstanding, focusing on fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients. On the owner’s recommendation, I also bought a fantastic bottle of olive oil from a local producer, which was a wonderful souvenir to take home. To finish the evening, we were treated to a glass of traditional Catalan Ratafia - the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal.
The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff are exceptionally friendly, and the restaurant is located away from the typical tourist spots along the harbor, making it feel even more authentic.
A true 10/10 experience. If you’re looking for genuine Catalan hospitality and outstanding local cuisine, this place is an absolute must-visit. We will definitely be back!

Amazing, inventive local food. Every dish is well thought out, and often surprising. It was a real delight and the service was impeccable and so friendly. Our party was two families with 4 kids and not only were the staff incredibly patient but the kids loved the adventurous food! I can’t recommend highly enough.
Tori Deems★★★★★
We were recommended to dine at El Rebost by a local boat guide who's family has lived in Cadaques for over 300 years. Every dish was excellent and the meal was one of the most memorable of our trip. The lobster was the best bite many of us have ever had. We loved the paella, the anchovies, the pan con tomate was unbelievable, the tomatoes were from the chef's mothers garden, and the fish was just incredible. This place is a must-visit in Cadaques.

Fabulous find… personal service and recommendations for both food & wine from the owner/chef. Excellent meal with very friendly attentive service, don’t walk on by!

We came 2 persons on very rainy and cold evening and had a table outside in the covered yard with heaters and it worked. We were not that hungry a took just a main course - cod and the other veal and it was very delicious. We had a good dessert and coffee . The waiter was exelent as well. A good evening .

We happened about this place as we were on a Dali museum tour and stopped in Cadeques for lunch. Since it is beginning of December, most of the restaurants were closed. We found a few but the Google ratings were but good at all. Thankfully we kept exploring and came upon this gem. The restaurant welcomed us in and we were glad for it as it was cold outside. I ordered a local mineral rich glass of white wine and by husband had a beer. We decided to go with the prawn paella with a couple of appetizers. The sardines were out of this world and the paella was delicious as well. Overall it was a great experience!

Best restaurant in Cadaques for us! Joan, our waiter was so nice! The food was from another world, fabulous! And we loved dining outside. Perfect evening!
Miguel Lilly★☆☆☆☆
The food at Compartir was, for the most part, okay, which makes the way we were treated at the end of the evening very disappointing.
We ordered extensively: a bottle of wine, dessert wine, dessert, coffee, and several dishes, and we were very happy with almost everything. The one exception was the fried rabbit with artichokes. It was so heavily breaded that you could barely taste either the rabbit or the artichokes. We tried it, genuinely did not enjoy it, and sent it back without eating it.
We were not trying to avoid paying our bill. We were happy to pay for everything we had enjoyed—and we did. We simply asked, very politely, whether they could remove this one dish from the bill because we had returned it essentially untouched.
What happened next was astonishing.
They refused to remove it and, when we continued to politely explain that we had not eaten the dish and did not feel we should have to pay for it, the situation escalated to the point where they threatened to call the police on us.
We were calm, polite and respectful throughout. The level of hostility we received was completely disproportionate to the situation and frankly shocking for a restaurant of this reputation and price level.
There was also a separate issue with one of the servers, who repeatedly spoke to us in English despite the fact that we were speaking to her in Spanish. Her attitude throughout the interaction was cold and unnecessarily rude, followed by an extremely fake and exaggerated “thank you so much” when we left. It made the whole experience feel even worse.
The one bright spot was Anastasia. She was absolutely wonderful—warm, attentive, kind and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. We repeatedly asked for her because she was so pleasant to deal with. She was easily the best part of the service and deserves recognition.
It is a shame because the food itself was largely excellent. But a restaurant is not just the food. How you treat your customers when something goes wrong matters enormously. Threatening polite customers with the police over one uneaten dish that they have asked to have removed from the bill is, in our opinion, an extraordinary failure of hospitality.
We left the restaurant with a very bad impression—not because of one disappointing dish, but because of how aggressively and unnecessarily the situation was handled.
Luka Jugeli★★★★☆
Very lively interior, super efficient service, Food presentation very beautiful. The razor Clams were very interesting with two side tasting combination. Wine list was very good and diverse. However main course Lobster and steak were a bit of disappointment, steak i ordered medium well, but it was way to dry and cold, Lobster was mainly Carcas and few tiny pieces of lobster and couldn't really feel texture or flavor , with super beautiful presentation. I d rather have better taste than a presentation but its subjective. All in all restaurant is really well done with highly qualified staff and great atmosphere, i guess they just need to work little bit on main courses and portion sizes. The pricing was very fair for this type of restaurant. From scale of 10 I would give 7.4 ranking. I almost forgot Tuna tartar starter was super fresh and excellent flavored.

A restaurant with delicious dishes, beautifully situated on the bay of Cadaqués, all set for a fantastic experience!
Surprising combinations of the Catalan cuisine.
Excellent service, with friendly staff.
An absolute must for the gourmet
Oscar Bachs Lobo★★★★★
The waiters were incredibly attentive, charming and knowledgeable. Every recommendation was spot on, they were very aware of details and overall gave a 5 star impression. There was a delay with one of our hot dishes, which may have been the only negative point. The food was excellent. Every dish had a unique taste palette. The combination of ingredients were a tasty experience. We were impressed over and over again. Overall really recommend Talla!!!

TALLA was the highlight dining experience for us while in Cadaques. The food was absolutely incredible and the view is fantastic. High chairs are available if you need them for your baby as well. I’ll be dreaming about this meal!!
Turi Galbraith★★★★★
A very hip and popular, casual seaside restaurant, with stunning views of Cadaqués harbor and beach, plus the service was top notch and very dish was creative and excellent.
Christian Mertens★★★★★
Talla stands for an unpretentious yet outstanding gastronomic atmosphere in the picturesque setting of Cadaqués. You can feel in every interaction how motivated the team is to deliver exceptional food – with bold combinations and perfectly executed seafood pairings inspired by the local waters.
Some dishes take cues from French culinary principles, embracing the freshness of the Costa Brava and combining it with an excellent wine selection. My personal recommendation: the table right by the wall facing the water.
The bone marrow with scallops and kaviar is just mindblowing.
If you get the chance, start or finish your evening with a Gilda (from Bar Talla) and a perfectly poured beer. Seize the moment. See you again in May 2026.

Es Balconet — Cadaqués, Spain 🇪🇸 ✨
What an incredible dining experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. ❤️
And the food… WOW. Every dish we ordered was absolutely incredible. You could taste the care and creativity in every bite, and the chef truly delivered from start to finish. And don’t even get me started on the desserts—they were the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal! 🍷✨🍰
Beautiful food, incredible service, and such a special atmosphere in one of the most beautiful places on the Costa Brava. We loved every minute and would absolutely come back!
Es Balconet, you have our hearts! ❤️🇪🇸

The food here is exceptional! Mussels with a fusion sauce of coconut and ginger was the star though nothing disappointed. Monk fish with prawns and scallop was delightful, especially sitting on a bed of perfect vegetables; the tuna tartare with sesame crust and eggplant confit was fresh and flavorful; even the pan con tomate had a different take with a flavorful tomato and a flatbread that was crusty and perfect for sopping up the mussel sauce. The chicken croquettes were perfection. We loved our lunch here, basking in the warmth of Cadaqués, looking out at vibrant bougainvillea, and thankful for the welcoming smiles of the owners.

My wife's family have been coming here for 24 years (since she was 7). The staff are the same passionate people as before. We chose the Discovery menu (the chef choses your menu), the value for money is incredible, the food was unbelievable. We also bought the wine that the owner grows and makes themselves (ofcourse we had to buy some to take home). The atmosphere, the food and the value is unmatched. It's worth taking a trip off the beaten track to find this magical place.

Great experience here! The chef was super kind, service was great, and the seafood paella is amazing! Highly recommend if you’re looking for something authentic, fresh, and off the beaten path. Would love to go again and again!

The tuna tataki was nice but the fish broth dish lacked flavour, but that’s just some of the cuisine up in the north of Spain (to my taste). The particular dish we asked for, which is typical of the area, took about half an hour to make.

We had a great lunch in this wonderful restaurant. We made a reservation beforehand, just to be sure of a spot. The location is great with a beautiful view over the bay. Staff is extremely friendly, attentive and quick, and the food was delicious! We had smoked ribs for mains, for shared starters bao buns with pulled pork, churros bravos, and croquetas. We closed of this food celebration with a cinnamon role and a Spanish French toast. If you are in Cadaques I can highly recommend this restaurant. Enjoy.
Art Lukas★★★★★
A fusion restaurant in the touristic center of Cadaqués - what could possibly go wrong. Well, almost everything but somehow here it does not. Instead it is fusion done right, i.e. the best parts of the world cuisine are used and combined. The result has both great taste and quality plus a bonus of the ambiance of the sunny square looking over the bay.
Yann★☆☆☆☆
We ordered a dish to share. We were charged extra because we were 4 and the default is 3. But there was no information anywhere about this. On top of that, they charged for a glass of wine which we didn't order nor drink. Other customerd looked like they had complaints too about their bills. The food was good, but it looks like they're trying to rip off their customers.
Robin Rainton★★★★★
Wonderful food in a relaxed atmosphere, away from most of the crowds in this beautiful little village. Had a great lunch here on the thankfully shady small terrace. Every dish was delicious, my cod supreme in particular just melted in the mouth. Rather decadent desserts but why not?! Not a super economic option but for this quality & location probably justified.

Great dinner experience! The food was excellent and the service was great. We sat close to the kitchen, which was really interesting - fun to watch the chefs at work. Would definitely come back!

We received a warm welcome from the staff, offering us to taste the wine and change it if it wasn’t to our taste. The restaurant is tapas, salads and poke bowls. All our prepared fresh. We chose Gorgonzola, pear and walnut croquettes ( amazing) and ham croquettes. We shared a salmon poke bowl, with rice and lots of crisp veg, mango and pomegranate. Very good. We sat on the terrace, prettily decorated, with bench seating and cushions. Good location on the front at Cadaques.

Excellent food and very warm service, they are on top of everything. We ordered some croquetas to start (all of them delicious - couldnt decide which one was best - jamon, gorgonzola or chicken). And we went for the poke bowls, delicious!

Despite the reviews the food wasn’t incredible, very good, but not unforgettable. However, the staffs friendliness, the experience, the view and atmosphere. Sure made it worth the visit!

We visited this quaint restaurant on a lazy Saturday, strolling through the streets of Cadaqués. The hospitality and service was the first thing we noticed. They’re kind and so accommodating. We had the special and the combination plate with hummus, followed by their homemade desserts. Thank you for a perfect lunch to complete our visit to this special town!
Jillian Evans★★★★★
Wonderful ambience and home cooked food in this small, bohemian restaurant. We had a lovely welcome and our host couldn’t do more for us throughout the evening. The menu was reassuringly small, changing regularly. Hummus, falafel, octopus pie, ceviche, lasagne with chicken, apple dessert, chocolate mousse all were quite exceptional. Definitely recommend!

Stumbled upon this little gem while walking the streets and saw it was packed one evening. Went back for lunch the following day as we enjoy Mediterranean food, and we were not disappointed. The hummus and tabouli were my favorite, the falafel and salad were also very good.

This is going to be really hard to beat. Every single bite of every single dish was pure perfection. This is a meal that I will dream of long after I return back to California. I’ve been eating at the best restaurants around Spain for a few weeks and none of them have impacted me the way this one did. I came here on a whim after reading the reviews and it was quite possibly the highlight of my entire month long stay in Spain. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is so pretty as well. If you’re in town do not miss out on this spot! I will be back.

I'm honestly surprised that this place has not been mentiones in the Michelin guide. The dishes are sophisticated but at the same time not too complicated or "interesting". I'm not usually a big fan of croquetas but the ones here are simply delicious. The clams tasted also fantastic.

We had a dinner here and really enjoyed it. The staff were very attentive and engaged, and the atmosphere was lovely. It’s a shame there’s no outdoor seating, but the interior is very nice. The food was excellent, with some really interesting combinations. Not cheap, but definitely worth it. Would highly recommend!

A true hidden gem among the restaurants in Cadaqués.
Tucked away and perhaps all the better for it. With so many restaurants in Cadaqués, you really have to stand out to be exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere relaxed and informal — gezellig, as we would say in Dutch — yet peaceful enough to enjoy a normal conversation.
What impressed us most, however, was the outstanding service. This was something we found somewhat disappointing in Spain in general, and unfortunately also in Cadaqués. Here, though, the service was exceptional. The staff genuinely took the time to have a chat with us, offer thoughtful recommendations, and explain the dishes before serving them.
And that, to us, is exactly what distinguishes an overly popular restaurant from a truly good one.
It was also clear that many of Cadaqués’ more affluent Catalan locals enjoy coming here, which is always a good sign.
We would absolutely recommend this restaurant and will happily return next year!
Mary Vanveen★★★★★
Cool vibe, extraordinary service and the food was out of this world! The best risotto I have ever had...I will be thinking about that forever! And the pork croquettes were insanely delicious...so crispy yet light and incredible flavorful! Lamb was also out of this world. And for the price...it's just incredible!

If I could give 6 stars I would. I came to this restaurant from the UK with my partner and now wife. We had our service here in Cadaqués and our marriage breakfast here with friends and family. The food was absolutely beautiful and the service above and beyond what we could have expected. The fish dishes, both starters and mains were incredible and the deserts some of the best we had experienced in our lives. The ambience, location and views are perfect if you want a view of the bay from your seated position. We will definitely return either as a couple or with a group. Thank you to all the staff for a truly unforgettable experience. 10/10 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

- Delicious paella with crab, fresh seafood, very good experience. If you want a good paella , come here (ignore reviews from French tourists)
- Good quality food
- Amazing choice of wines , I don’t remember how many pages…
- Cozy interior
- Nice views
- Fresh breeze coming from the sea through opened doors and windows , it’s not hot in the restaurant
- Experienced manager. Waiters may be need a bit more training. Good service in general, but some waiters forget which table ordered drinks, they wanted to serve us somebody else’s drinks, some waiters were walking by and accidentally pushing the back of my chair quite often without even apologizing, that was annoying.
- We had to wait long to make an order, they prioritize local people who lives there, they took their order quickly and served them quickly even though they came after us, that didn’t feel good.
- I didn’t like fish soup that much, it didn’t have rich flavor. Soup itself doesn’t taste much fish or seafood.
If I’m in Cadaqués I would come here again for sure. I would try other dishes from menu. If you’re looking for a good experience - I recommend.
It’s better to book in advance.

Es Baluard has been doing this since 1967, built right into the old town wall with the bay close enough to touch, and most people come for the spider crab rice or whatever showed up on the boat that morning. The one to actually order is the entrecot de vaca vella, an old dairy cow raised on a Girona farm, the kind of beef that earns its flavor over years instead of months, charred dark outside with that deep mineral pull running through the center. Underneath sit patatas fregidas casolanas, cut and fried in house, crisp on the edges and tasting like actual potato. Best steak and fries in Cadaqués, paired with a view of the bay that no steakhouse anywhere else gets to claim.
Anabella Alarcon★★☆☆☆
The location and the service is excellent. A bit hot inside for those summer nights. As starters we had: carpaccio and burrata with confites tomatoes both were very good. The main course was absolutely overrated and expensive for how it ends: entrecôte was supposed to be medium and it very bloody; plus the knife wasn’t appropriate for meat, didn’t cut. The French fries were very soft and oily. The dessert: lemon cream was very good. In conclusion overpriced.

We had a fantastic dinner at Olibar in Cadaqués! We ordered the lamb shoulder, blanched spinach, maritozzo, and the Donostian-style marinated sea bass, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were well balanced, and everything was beautifully prepared.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and made a real effort to explain the menu in English, which we really appreciated. Their warm hospitality made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Highly recommended if you’re visiting Cadaqués and looking for great food and excellent service!

An absolute must in Cadaqués.
If you’re lucky enough to get a table here, do yourself a favor: trust the team and let them guide you through the menu and their outstanding selection of natural wines. Every recommendation felt thoughtful, surprising, and perfectly matched to the experience.
The food is creative, seasonal, beautifully executed, and full of personality. The natural wine list is exceptional, and the staff’s passion and knowledge make the evening even more memorable.
More than a restaurant, this is a genuine culinary experience. Warm atmosphere, fantastic music, impeccable service, and dishes that stay in your memory long after dinner is over.
My only recommendation: book well in advance. This place is in high demand for a reason. Highly recommended and virtually impossible to disappoint.
We’ll definitely be back. 🍷✨ thanks

We had an amazing lunch here! Don’t miss the Tasting menu. More than worth it at Eur 35. The dishes are very fresh, creative and flavorful. The staff is very friendly and warm and the ambiance is unique (cave like). The wine was good too. Happy we came across this hidden gem ❤️

What an unexpected gem! We sat at the bar and watched the amazing chefs prepare dozens of dishes. We had the Oysters with cherry (so amazing!), the asparagus and leeks, homemade Focaccia bread right out of the oven, melon with tuna belly and a fantastic lamb dish. We've eaten at several Michelin star restaurants that were not nearly as good. Great staff, family owned and run. So much to love about this place.

The friendliness and generosity of the staff is only surpassed by the quality and precision of the drinks and dishes. What a wonderful and memorable experience! We had reservations for 13:00 and were promptly seated and constantly attended to. Each dish properly presented and explained. The Bloody Mary was perfect and the house specialty Aperol spritz was so refreshing.

This was an absolutely incredible experience! Probably the best meal we had while in costa brava. We sat at the barra and got to watch the kitchen work, and plate up beautiful food for the restaurant. Very interesting to watch. Every dish was delicious and filling. The staff was friendly and helpful. It felt a very warm, welcoming, intimate dining experience. Hope to come back again someday

We had called at the restaurant in the morning to book a table for dinner that evening. The waitress who reserved our table was very friendly and chatty.
When we arrived at our booked time (8pm) another waitress said you didn’t confirm the booking ( the email we never received). Luckily ( as they pointed out) we did have a table. Service was brusque, not what we expected. We felt the staff could have explained the menu to us, as the dishes were quite creative. The sardine and orange we ordered for a starter was, the best dish. The oyster with chorizo was dry.
The fish special served with mash and spinach was good. The roasted potatoes, which was with the meatballs and clams (2!!) tasted as if cooked in old fat, not good. For pudding we had the crème caramel. A pricey meal, not the best we ate in Cadaques.

Just an amazing dining experience. Every dish was prepared with so much care and not your typical Spanish / Catalan cuisine, just elevated. It stands out among the other restaurants in Cadaques without a doubt - and the location is ideal.

Best food and atmosphere we have had in Cadaqués. Really attentive staff and the entire experience feels highly curated.
The stuffed squid was phenomenal, highly recommend both that and the restaurant in general.
Book the bar so you get a free showing of what is going on in the kitchen.

Walked along the sea front and clocked the design and font of the sign on this place. Sensational food. Sensational vibes. Bottle of orange wine, little bits to start. Warm welcome, laid back vibes. Sure we can sit outside. Talked through the menu. Beautiful views. Will be remembered fondly.
Tips for Dining in Cadaqués
While the restaurants listed above offer incredible food, dining in a small, historic fishing village comes with its own set of logistical quirks. A little local knowledge can be the difference between a seamless meal and a frustrating wait. Here is how to navigate the Cadaqués food scene like a seasoned traveler.
Book Ahead, Especially in Summer
Cadaqués has a limited number of quality restaurants, and the demand skyrockets between June and September. If you have your heart set on a specific restaurant, especially for dinner, call or book online several days in advance. Walk-ins are often turned away or face waits of over an hour.
Embrace the Late Dinner Schedule
Like the rest of Spain, dining in Cadaqués happens late. Most kitchens do not open for dinner until 8:00 PM or 8:30 PM, and the dining rooms often don’t fill up until 9:30 PM. Arriving too early might mean dining in an empty room; arriving at 10:00 PM is considered perfectly normal.
Look for "Cuina de Mercat"
This Catalan phrase translates to "market cuisine" and signifies a restaurant that cooks based on what is fresh at the local fish market that day. These establishments often have a handwritten menu or daily specials board. Always ask what the catch of the day is, as it will almost certainly be the best thing on the menu.
Parking and Navigation
Driving into the center of Cadaqués is notoriously difficult due to narrow, one-way streets restricted to residents. Plan to park in the large public lots on the outskirts of town and walk into the center. This will save you significant stress and allow you to enjoy a pre-dinner stroll through the atmospheric alleys.
Try the Local Wine
You are in the Empordà DO (Denominación de Origen) wine region. While you might be tempted to order a familiar Rioja, try a local Garnacha or Cariñena. The local wines are often robust and mineral-driven, pairing perfectly with the region’s rustic seafood stews and grilled meats.
Cash is Still King
While most established restaurants accept credit cards, some of the smaller, family-run tapas bars or beachside "chiringuitos" may have minimum spend requirements for cards or prefer cash. It is wise to keep a small amount of euros on hand for incidentals or tipping.
Dining in Cadaqués is as much about the atmosphere as it is the plate in front of you. The salt air, the sound of the waves, and the artistic spirit of the town elevate even the simplest meal into a memory.
Take your time, order another glass of local wine, and soak in the magic of one of Spain’s most beautiful coastal villages. Whether you are feasting on sea urchins or enjoying a simple tomato bread, you are participating in a culinary tradition that has been cherished here for generations.
