Almería occupies a unique slice of the Spanish coastline, where arid desert landscapes meet the deep blue Mediterranean. Unlike the greener stretches of the Costa del Sol, this southeastern corner of Andalusia offers a rugged, cinematic beauty that feels both wild and welcoming. It is a destination for travelers who want authentic Spanish culture alongside their sun loungers and sea views.
The city of Almería itself is often overlooked in favor of its flashier neighbors, yet that is precisely its charm. Here, you can explore a Moorish fortress in the morning, eat fresh seafood in a working fishing quarter at lunch, and fall asleep to the sound of waves at night. The urban beaches are remarkably accessible, stretching for kilometers along palm-lined promenades.
Staying near the beach in Almería means more than just a room with a view. It means stepping out of your hotel and immediately having your toes in the sand, with chiringuitos serving espetos of sardines just steps away. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or a solo escape, the right accommodation sets the tone for the entire trip.
The local hospitality scene reflects the region’s character: a mix of modern boutique hotels, classic Spanish resorts, and intimate guesthouses. Many properties make the most of the region’s abundant sunshine with rooftop pools and terraces overlooking the Gulf of Almería. The emphasis is often on relaxed comfort rather than excessive formality, mirroring the laid-back Andalusian lifestyle.
Because the coastline varies from wide urban beaches to secluded coves within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, your choice of location matters. Some travelers prefer the convenience of staying right on the Paseo Marítimo, while others seek the quieter atmosphere of nearby fishing villages. Each area offers a distinct experience, and the best hotels take full advantage of their specific setting.
Understanding this, we have curated a list of properties that stand out for their proximity to the sea, their quality of service, and their ability to provide genuine value. The selections below prioritize guest comfort and location, ensuring you spend less time commuting and more time enjoying the Mediterranean breeze.
Whether you want to wake up to a panoramic sunrise over the water or have a beachfront base for exploring the Tabernas Desert and Alcazaba, there is a perfect spot for you. These are the best hotels in Almería that put the beach right at your doorstep.

Great central location facing the sea in Almeria. The Reception staff was friendly and responsive to my request for a partial sea view room, which came with a comfortable bed & linens. For some reason, the check-in and check-out processes were slow and time-consuming. I also noticed only 2 small elevators for such a big hotel, further downgrading the time-efficiency for guests at this hotel.

Bad experience with parking and sewer stench in the room. Overall good location.
We chose this hotel specifically for the private parking, As we have a brand New car with us. Reservation was not possible and upon arrival the parking was full. We were told to park in a nearby open public parking garage. Spaces are limited and so small only the smallest cars fit. It does not feel save to leave your car there at all...
Next, as other reviews mention, there is an awful strong sewage stench coming from the bathroom filling the room with a really nasty smelling air. Probably a bad outcome after the renovation? We have a few more days left currently but our overall experience is really disappointing so far 🙁

A very well presented hotel, in an excellent central position. €20 taxi from airport
The rooms were comfortable, with good products, and fantastic views. I would think you would have to ask for a kettle. The room direction on the right of the hotel face south east, so not much sun in the afternoon, however at the height of summer this could be a bonus. There were no instructions for the fan in the room, or it was broken, we did not really require it
The staff are extremely helpful and efficient
The breakfasts were a let down. They were certainly plentiful, but on our first day the only fruit available were small pots of melons, and the hot breakfast was cold. When I went to the hot station there was one lonely sausage and two abandoned pieces of bacon. These along with the tomatoes and mushrooms were stone cold and uneatable. On our second day the food was a couple of degrees warmer, but not good enough for a hotel of this standard. My wife couldn't face it and had some salmon but this had a hair in it.
I am certain that reading the other reviews we were just unlucky, and I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel
If you go to the Alcazaba get the L1 bus, your legs will thank you and it was only €1.05

Be cautious when dealing with Ohtel hotels!
In the evening I wanted to book a hotel for next day, but I mistakenly booked it for current day. After 5 minutes, I contacted the hotel to ask them to reschedule the reservation for the next day or refund my money. They refused, even though they had available rooms for the next day. The reservation and cancellation occurred at 6:30 p.m. They did not incur any financial losses from the cancellation and simply took my money. They do not respond to emails. Be cautious when dealing with Ohtel hotels!
Updated: In continuation of my review from 6 days ago:
As recommended by the hotel representative in response to my review, I wrote again on 8 June to the official hotel e-mail
[email protected]. I still have not received a reply, as I did not receive one to my first letter on 19 May. Contrary to the hotel representative's response - no clear communication and no assistance. No customer-centricity when the hotel has already taken your money for itself.

Lovely hotel, very modern and clean, rooms were lovely, spacious and well designed. Pool is a lovely touch for a city hotel, location is amazing 15mins from the airport. Right in the centre of the city with port views and short walk to the beach.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Cabogata Beach Hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed, with stunning views that made every morning feel special.
The location is unbeatable—just steps away from the beach, making it easy to relax and enjoy the sea whenever you like. The food was another highlight: fresh, delicious, and with plenty of variety to suit every taste.
What really stood out was the attention to detail and the overall atmosphere—calm, comfortable, and perfect for unwinding. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or a memorable holiday, this hotel delivers on every level.
I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. A true 5-star experience!

My wife Christine and I have been blessed to have stayed at many 5 Star hotels around the world.
Very few times have we had the privilege of meeting and interacting with a hotel team member as kind, intelligent and rhetorically articulate as Francois ~ the Beach Captain.
Born and raised in Cameroon, Francois speaks perfect French, Spanish and English.
The young man is currently working on his thesis to earn a PhD. in Sociology.
Having served the hospitality industry for 56 years starting in my home town of San Francisco, my credo has always been that restaurant and hotel service is a shared experience.
The kindness, courtesy and respect that guests provide the staff comes back a million fold.
Our immaculately clean and modern-elegantly appointed room featured a wide screen TV.
The dinner and breakfast buffets were as sumptuous as they were scrumptious.
Firmly believing that a guest-first intuitively minded hotel staff tremendously enhances the guest experience, Cabogata Beach Hotel exceeded our expectations and is truly a world class 5 Star property.
God bless you Francois and your indefatigable efforts to make our world a much better place!!!

We had the opportunity to celebrate our honeymoon at this hotel and everything exceeded expectations. The staff are nice, rooms are clean and tidy, various pool options, and that balcony view is gorgeous. The hotel offers on-site buffet options and there wasn’t any need to leave the property. If you are looking for a nice place to relax, highly recommend! 🙂

A quiet, huge hall feeling hotell. Tiles all over. Marvellous interiour. Prepare to walk for a long time, while getting a coffe, beer or taking a swim. Everything takes time here. Got completely lost a couple of times in the halls and stairways . Tha spa was small, but relaxing. Sauna felt intense hot and dry.

Clean but lacked essentials, 1 cereal bowl and 11 plates? 1 large frying pan and 1 large saucepan- not sufficient to cook with. 2 cups but no kettle, no toaster, no broom or mop to help keep it clean. No long mirror, no coffee table so glasses put on the floor. No iron or hairdryer. No info pack in room so no info re using the safe, found the supermarket under the hotel in day 2, had a phone in the room but no info on how to use it.

Loved - The sea view from the modern apartment was spectacular at all times of the day and night. The orange sunrise is a must-see. The bathroom with bidet was well equipped and towels were supplied daily. The kitchenette was tiny and not much cookware but the staff were quick to supply anything I asked for and I managed to cook for the 2 of us. Nice AC for cooling and warming the place, TV played local channels only so as we sadly don't understand Spanish it was just for background sounds. Nice new sofa bed in living room was huge as was the main bed. Lots of power points to charge electricals. Wi-Fi is free and super fast. The hallway was large and housed our suitcases and shoes with ease. The balcony gives a superb sitting area to look out to sea and also for drying our clothes. The staff were super helpful and professional. The sea promenade is a few minutes walk from the apartment and the beaches are stunning. There is a huge amount of bars, restaurants everywhere but most are closed from 2pm to evening. The coffee shop downstairs served the best coffee we've had in Spain and it was open all day till very late. Didn't get to say good bye to David who was so kind and helpful to us. I also bought some great beers from here. Across the road is a pharmacy that was open even on Christmas day. We also bought a selfie stick down the road and went food shopping round the corner. We had free parking in the back street. We visited Almeria which was just 15 minutes drive away. Aguadulce has a lovely vibe and we would love to come back.
Disliked · It was just the 2 of us so privacy was not important, but if you were with friends, the open plan bedroom may be an issue.
The walls are paper thin so you hear conversations and furniture being moved from other apartments.
Swimming pool was closed when we were here in December, and being from UK it was warm enough for us to have a dip.

My wife Christine and I blessed to have stayed at many 5 Star hotels around the world, Barcelo Cabo de Gata is very, very underrated as a 4.
A major contributor to our vacation quality of life has been Ana Vallejo Santo.
She being the Head Concierge and together with her charming colleague Paula, has been a life-line into connecting us with the areas best restaurants and services.
Ana always willing to help us, her chief quality together with her dynamic personality is REAL TIME follow-up.
Having served the hospitality industry for 56 years starting in my home town of San Francisco, this Barcelo property is exceptional.
My credo has always been that restaurant and hotel service is a shared experience.
The kindness, courtesy and respect that guests provide the staff comes back a million fold.
Upon entering Barcelo last evening, we were heartfeltly greeted at reception by Jorge, a very elegant and affable gentleman.
Our immaculately clean room featured a LG wide screen TV that was not a "smart" unit.
Miguel, a kind and savvy hotel technician helped us to make the TV intelligent, by assisting us in connecting an Amazon Fire Stick.
Instantly, NETFLIX, YouTube and Prime were available.
The dinner buffet was as sumptuous as it was scrumptious.
We had the pleasure of being served by Aitor and Daniel, 2 fabulous and very articulate young men.
Enjoying the lavish breakfast buffet every morning during our entire 8 day stay, we express our utmost gratitude to Leo and Juan, the omelette station captains.
We also have been fortunate in meeting Adin, Anastasia, Belen and Francis, the swimming pool lifeguards and maintenance manager.
Anastasia is genuinely kind and forthcoming and has been a joy to discuss various high brow topics with.
Another team member that deserves special recognition is Jose, the manager of the pool bar.
He is otherworldly intelligent and has been a delight to converse with every day.
You can meet Jose directly across from pool #2, which is impeccably clean featuring crystal clear waters and is absolutely perfect for adult swimmers.
Last, and surely not the least and actually the hardest working and genuinely kind team member we have had the pleasure of interacting with is Estefania ~ our daily house keeper.
Estefania has been a God-send in her maintaining our room impeccably clean and graced with her effervescent vibrational energy.
Firmly believing that a guest-first intuitively minded hotel staff tremendously enhances the guest experience, Barcelo Cabo de Gata exceeded our inaugural day expectations and is truly a world class 5 Star property!!!

Room was big and comfy with great mini bar included. Would have been nice to have three slippers and robes with us booking 3 people in the room and us using the spa facilities.
Food was lovely again but sadly at breakfast they finished serving the pancakes early and it was the one thing my son was looking forward to for breakfast so he was disappointed.
Staff were lovely and efficient.

Our hotel was changed from roquetas de Mar with a few weeks to go to here. The hotel is very well maintained. However the indoor pool and spa facilities weren't available most of the week. Only Friday to Sunday. The food is extremely average and there was always something up with the coffee machines in the mornings. My key stopped working one day and another occasion the locks on the doors were changed without us being notified. This meant we couldn't access the bike room with the new key too once it switched over. I can imagine this is lovely during the height of summer but with a few things closed it doesn't appeal as much

Decent hotel for the price. Not much around so you are stuck eating at the hotel for food. Nice, clean and big rooms. Location is secluded in the middle of nowhere.

Lovely hotel, great service, good food and probably best value for money from an all inclusive I've had. Fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast is a delight and no extra cost. The tinto de verano is decent and there are a wide range of drinks and spirits. The air-conditioning in our room was good which was welcome as it was 38⁰C most days and the nights were a sort of balmy 26⁰C.
The staff were great. The multilingual Happy Boy (who chatted to us in french and also translated all announcements even though Cathy and I were the only French people there)and his team worked tirelessly with an amazing energy in the heat of the day as well as late into the night. The animación team deserves a pay rise! The only negatives: i wish we had precooked car hire as the hotel is a bit out of the way and far from amenities. The flies are a real nuisance but we learned to live with them. The seem to disappear at night though. The nearby beach isn't a golden sandy paradise either but with Cathy's ankle injury we tended to stay around the pool.
Overall a decent week away for £620 each all inclusive including flights luggage and transfer. Clientele is probably 90% Spanish too which i prefer to being surrounded by British people. There was building work over the street but it didn't disturb us at all.

Our stay at Ohtels Cabogata 4* left us with only the best impressions! The hotel is truly wonderful, and everything was at the highest level. The hotel grounds and rooms were clean and well-maintained, and it was clear that the staff constantly worked hard to ensure guests’ comfort and keep everything in perfect order.
Special thanks to all the hotel staff - everyone was very friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help.
The food was delicious and varied, with a good selection of dishes every day, so everyone could find something they liked. The bar was also excellent, offering great service, tasty drinks, and a pleasant atmosphere.
We also really enjoyed the evening entertainment. Every evening there were different activities, including live music, performances, games, and other interesting shows. The evenings were relaxing, enjoyable, and created a wonderful atmosphere.
The hotel is also perfect for family holidays. The staff make an effort to organize entertainment and activities for children as well, making it a comfortable place to stay with the whole family.
The surrounding area is beautiful, peaceful, and ideal for a relaxing holiday by the sea.
Overall, our stay exceeded all expectations. We enjoyed everything very much and would be happy to come back again. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an unforgettable holiday!

KVMS★★☆☆☆
We did not expect a five-star experience, and overall the food, restaurant service, and cleanliness were perfectly fine. The rooms were a bit worn, but clean.
We mainly booked the hotel because of the advertised kids club and activities for children after our daughter’s confirmation. Unfortunately, there was very little actual engagement from the animation team, despite activities being listed all day long. The staff often seemed uninterested and not very attentive to the children.
A few small incidents also left a negative impression, including staff disappearing from the kids club area and not following up on simple requests like table tennis equipment or a broken game machine.
Overall, the hotel itself was fine for the price, but the lack of professionalism and enthusiasm from the entertainment team was disappointing.

Great location. Within few minutes walk of everything worth seeing, experiencing and tasting.
Good breakfast selection, good coffee. You can make your own tostada complete with fresh garlic and olive oil. Antonio (head chef or kitchen manager?) is a darling! Delicious apple pie, even better than in the Netherlands!
Cold water at reception.
Small but nice pool.
Decent fitness facilities, just need to do some maintenance on the equipment. The treadmill desperately needs to be tightened, it is currently a hazard.
The interior design of the hotel is a bit weird and confusing. Sort of feels like Hogwarts 😁 with strange places for stairs, height differences on the same level, and unexpected hallways. We actually took a walk around inside the hotel itself as an ‘adventure’.
The rooms - not so great. At least our room. Illogical choices were made.
Very big bathroom but with an extremely narrow shower, while there is ample unused space next to the toilet. Toilet could have easily been placed 20-30cm further, leaving more shower space. Also just one single hook for a towel. Add more hooks please…
The beds (at least in our room) were very uncomfortable. Small, while there is more than enough space for a larger bed. Poor quality mattress. If one person moves or turns, the other person feels it too. Constantly bumping into each other. We stayed for 3 nights - we could not sleep.
The window in our room looked out onto a blind wall.
Cafeteria area - dark, gloomy, and too warm. Either not properly ventilated, or not sufficient working airconditioning. However - free coffee and sweet snacks available all day.
Would I book this hotel again? First impression - No. After a day of exploring the wonderful secrets of Almeria, I want a good place to sleep and recover - and that was impossible to do in these beds. We could probably have gone to Reception to ask for a different room, but we only stayed 3 nights and thought it would be ok. So maybe next time we will give Exe Almeria Centro a second chance, hoping for improvement 👍🏻

The junior suite room we booked was so noisy, we couldn't sleep for 2 nights. I requested another room and the staff was kind and helpful. The other room was on the second floor, much more quite. The rooms are quite old and used but ok.

Positives comfortable bed, lovely balcony and a very good selection at breakfast and kept well stocked.
Lots of nice touches, coffee maker, water, sweets and toiletries, tooth brush, comb, bathrobe and slippers ect.
Staff helpful and friendly.
Sadly pool not open but we did visit in November ( we felt it warm enough to have been open )
Bathroom spacious too, however jacuzzi bath sadly I could not get to work, also the shower was only warm no hot water!
The mini fridge was not cold, was plugged in but didn't seem to be working.
Having said we would visit this hotel again.

Stayed for a week as a family of three room with a sea view - views are amazing seeing the sun come up in the mornings.
Room sea view deluxe - this room is the newly
Refurb room while it’s lovely and open plan to the point it’s open plan bathroom
So no door, no privacy if you need the loo or shower especially with an 11 year old who wants some privacy we had to a lot
Of swapping round on balcony. And yes you can be heard going to the loo in the night.
Facilities - pool big and spacious slide kept my child happy, Que for sunbed at 10am when pool opens but that’s the norm and plenty of beds still through the day. Entertainment team through the day were great plenty of interaction.
Food - good choice but repetitive some days
But you always find something in the restaurant and friendly staff.
Pool bar - plenty a drinks avalible, Ice poles & crisps. No hot food selection it’s all in the restaurant.
Overall the hotel
Has plenty to do and once it’s fully
Refurbished the rooms and hotel will be lovely as some areas are very dated but you can see the hotel is trying.
Beach is across the road - sunbed hire is €6 per bed and not connected to the hotel, lovely views of the seas and harbour lots of locals very friendly
It’s a quiet little place not many tourist shops to buy your souvenirs if you like that thing

We spent 7 nights at Playadulce Hotel with our 5-year-old daughter.
Overall, we had a nice stay. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable – we had a room with a sea view, which was lovely. The hotel location is great, with the beach and promenade just outside, which made it very convenient.
Our daughter really enjoyed the kids club – the animators were wonderful and also organised a mini disco for children in the evenings, which she loved. There is also a small playground and a mini golf area outside.
However, there were a few downsides. At the pool, the lifeguard asked us to leave at around 5:40 pm because it closes at 6 pm. Considering the heat, it felt quite early to have to leave both the pool and sunbeds.
The newer sea-view rooms are located under the restaurant, and from early morning we could hear chairs being moved – it sounded like cleaning was happening very early. Also, in room 206 there was a strong unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom, probably from the drainage. At night and early morning it was quite difficult to tolerate.
Apart from that, the room itself was very nice – spacious, clean, with fresh towels, bathrobes, and bedding.
The food was quite repetitive, with limited variety, although we found the salads to be good.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel for a short holiday.

I stayed at this hotel during the Easter holidays in 2026 for five days, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The room was a good size, very clean, and had a large bathroom with both a bath and a shower, which was a nice bonus. It was also very quiet—honestly quite peaceful, which made it easy to relax.
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. There was a slight language barrier at times if you only speak English, but it wasn’t a big issue and we were always able to communicate what we needed.
The facilities were one of the highlights. There’s a great outdoor pool with five slides, although the water was a bit cold. There’s also an indoor pool, which is a good alternative. On top of that, the hotel has an arcade, two bars, a playground, and even mini golf, so there’s plenty to do.
The Wi-Fi was very good and worked well throughout the hotel with strong coverage.
If I had to point out a downside, it would be the elevators—they weren’t the best and could be a bit inconvenient at times.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this hotel, especially for families or anyone looking for a clean, relaxing place with lots of activities.

The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the harbour, short stroll to the bars and restaurants.

I was in a wheelchair and we were given a beautiful room over looking the harbour, which was stunning and very equipped for people with disabilities. Thank you very much everyone.

Privileged location by the marina between sea and mountain. My room is tastefully designed and furnished, reeking of modernity and comfort. For such a classy hotel, I found the wifi to be a bit slow. Not happy to find out that when I lodged there at the end of January, the swimming pool area was closed and the hotel cannot offer any other public area to sunbathe, even where the sun was shining brightly. But I managed to snag a higher-priced room with a balcony facing the marina with glorious afternoon sun. People come to Almeria for the sun and the sea, so don't understand why this hotel didn't offer any public spaces to sunbathe.

Lovly place modern clean and smelt amazing. Grate staff very friendly and help full, breakfast was very good been to many all inclusive and dont rate the food but was impressed here as we added the buffet breakfast as an xtra when booking. Lvoly outside area looking onto the port the hotel over looks the port. we went out of season and not one English person in sight all spanish, alot of the young people spoke English and wasnt to busy had a nice little market on one day at the weekend, don't know what its like in high season. we went as a couple without the kids and was grate plenty of food places and bars had a grate night out just be awear you are in spain and the times are not the same as uk with opening and closing. Note it is far from the airport (malaga) we hired a car and was a 2hour 10mins drive. Easy drive used Google maps your on one road for most of the journey 1hour 45.

3 days and an amazing place to stay. The most comfortable spacious noise proof room and balcony. The room had a small fridge. Most staff were very helpful and the whole property was extremely clean. Easy walk to cafes and restaurants nearby. We got a harbour facing room thankfully as the other view is of the cliff and road. Maybe worth requesting when booking as the view is excellent. Parking is expensive but quite secure. I would certainly return here again.

We were booked in to Moon Dreams for 4 nights.
One the first night we managed to get to the restsurant using 2 lifts as my husband cannot use stairs as he uses a mobility scooter.
For a supposedly 4 star hotel the restaurant was so very disapointing to say the least. We found a table , asked for drinks. I had to walk about 30 metres to get 2 glasses of water then go to the restaurant reception to ask for and pay for a bottle of wine. I then walked back to where I had got the water for the wine. It was opened and a glass guven to me.
As my husband has great difficulty walking and even standing I went to get the food.
At this point we decided we could not cope with this and decided that we would check out the next morning.
We went to stay at another hotel on the Matina which was excellent and catered to our needs perfectly.
Moon Dreams hotel were informed of my husbands mobility issues on booking but had not catered for them.
We will definitely not be using any of their hotels again . Very poor service and not interested in helping.

I love old beach hotels I would guess this was built in the late 80s. The rooms and beds are very clean and beautiful! The view and location are insane! walking distance from the beach and many cute restaurants near by. Some things tare older the bathroom etc but so well kept! It was truly a beautiful stay I adore this place and would definitely recommend! A few things to note I didn’t eat at the hotel and the pool is a little small and can be busy.

A nice hotel next to the beach. It’s got a lot of rooms but unfortunately on the 11th floor the WiFi didn’t work and you hear a lot through the windows and doors and the breakfast (staff) could have been a bit more friendly.
All in all I would say it’s a good hotel but room to improve.

A big compliment to the hard working staff in the kitchen, in the bars and the restaurant. Everybody was very friendly.
Said was the star in the entertainment.
We had a good time and enjoyed every minute from our stay

The location is the only thing good about this hotel. The staff are excellent but they must be really embarrassed to welcome guests here. It is definitely NOT a 4 star. It would do well to even reach 2 star. It is extremely dated, badly needing renovation or pulled down. It would do so much better if it was a better hotel. The hot water is very brown, so you actually feel dirty after a shower. The bathroom ceiling looks like it’s going to fall in. I’m so glad I’m only here for two nights, as I could not stay here any longer. I stayed in the Alegria Colonial hotel, which is very close by. It is very good in every way, so I expected this hotel to have the same quality. I am extremely disappointed and I wouldn’t even consider returning. No wonder it was very discounted in price. Hurry up and sort this hotel or it will need shut down due to lack of guests.

Very nice appart-hôtel for the price. The studio rooms are big, modern and clean. The balconies with sea views and the samll rooftop pool are a nice touch. There is no staff available (you get your key through a machine) but it’a not a problem, the check-in/check-out process is very smooth. We would highly recommend!

I was highly impressed by this apartment hotel. I mainly chose it for its cheap price, so I didn’t look into the benefits or the room too much. So when we went into the apartment it was almost as a chock how stunning and modern it was. It was very cleaned and the view was wonderful! Apparently there was also a pool on top, but we didn’t have any time to see it. Only down side was the down payment, which was 200€. On booking it did state that you had to pay that, but I had missed it. However, that was all paid back about one day after the stay.

My brother booked a room here I've never seen anything like this before. In the entrance there's an electronic check in system that seems a bit long winded to actually check in, but once done you get you key cards then off to your room. Everything was so clean on entering the room it was large , spacious very well equipped with fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, pots, pan, cutlery and cleaning equipment. Huge double bed, sofier bed , TV heating and AC. I was impressed for apox 50 pound a night in March . My brother and his son will have a very comfortable stay in Aguadulce Almería Spain.

Let me start with the good stuff.
The hotel is located in the heart of the city, near the most important sightseeing sites.
The (single) room I got was small, but was clean and had everything I needed, including a great (rain)shower.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Although the hotel's parking garage was a short walk away and a challenge to navigate with a slightly bigger than average car, I did like the thought that my rental car was safely parked. It is absolutely impossible to park in the streets.
However, there are a lot of down sides too...
The walls are very thin and I had noisy neighbours the first night. Bring earplugs!
The breakfast buffet was disappointing and absolutely not what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel. The coffee was pretty bad and choice of foods was limited.
Parking cost about half of the room rate extra, which is a bit excessive. But no good alternatives really...
Since I really only needed the hotel to sleep, it was allright. But it's definitely more of a 3-star hotel.

Our stay at this hotel during the Semana Santa holiday was truly unforgettable. For two nights, we paid 168€ for a superior room with jacuzzi access, and it was absolutely worth it.
The highlight of the experience was, without a doubt, the jacuzzi. Having access to a private rooftop with such an incredible view made it feel like a luxury escape. It’s a must-try relaxing there, especially after a day of exploring, was simply amazing.
What stood out even more than the facilities was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond by recommending a first-floor room facing the street, which turned out to be the perfect choice. Thanks to their suggestion, we were able to comfortably watch the Semana Santa procesión right from our room, a truly special and unique experience.
Everything about our stay felt thoughtful and well taken care of. From the atmosphere to the attention to detail, it was an amazing experience that we’ll definitely remember and recommend.

I'm very pleased with our choice of this hotel. From the first phone call, where Monika at the front desk was very helpful and explained exactly how to get to the hotel. After arriving at the hotel, she warmly welcomed us and explained our questions in English. She was accompanied by her colleague Daniel, who was also friendly and helpful. We also really liked the hotel itself. The rooms are small but clean, cleaned daily, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfast is affordable and delicious with a wide selection. The hotel is conveniently located close to the main attractions. The hotel also has parking, which is close to the hotel, and although it took us a while to find it, we were happy to find it. I recommend booking a parking space in advance, as spaces are limited. If we visit Almería again, we will definitely stay at this hotel.

Nice hotel, but definitely not a 4 star hotel. No idea how they determined that it was a 4 star. The room lacks the amenities that you'd expect in a 4 star, like the coffee, tea, kettle, conditioner. Otherwise the hotel is nice, parking is a few min away & at a cost. And the breakfast was good! Meats were very fresh. We accidentally booked for 1 person instead of 2 and they charged us for the extra person at breakfast, so just make sure you book correctly.

My wife and I stayed mid July 25 for two nights whilst enroute to Gibraltar. Really nice hotel central to the old town and a 25 minute walk to the beach. Staff are friendly and very helpful. I used the multi storey secured carpark for 13 euros per day which is a 5 minutes walk to the hotel. Our room was the superior double with breakfast and free access to the solarium. Facilities in the room included, TV , free safe, fridge, hairdryer and shower over bath. For this grade of room in a four star hotel I would like to see tea & coffee facilities, none the less it's comfortable. The solarium has a jacuzzi, sauna and a couple of sunbeds. On our visit the sauna was not operational. Breakfast is basic however adequate. The cost was 240 euros for two nights, breakfast and carpark which is great value!

This hotel is simple but has everything you need. Rooms are spacious and clean, big bathrooms. Slightly tired furniture and decor, but nothing major. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and made me feel welcome. They serve breakfast, which is on the average side, including the service. For the price, it's a pretty good deal.

The service and people at the reception are very nice and helpful so this is a big plus for the hotel. The reception area is nice and new, and the rooms are decent. They are not new and could use some update, but they are big and clean. What i found exceptional here was the restaurant. Top of the top. We had an amazing dinner.

This is far from a 4 star hotel, the Rooms are old and look very “dusty”. The A/C is crazy, the level 1 fan works like the level 3, I bearly slept. The staff is nice and helpful. The restaurant near door is a really good one.

The hotel is half an hour walk to the beach or c.5 Euro's in a Taxi. Its a shorter walk to the old town.
The beds are huge and the hotel very clean. The restaurant was fairly priced with good food. The pool is a little small but plenty of sun loungers.

A 4-Star Hotel or a Decaf Cult?
"I arrived at this hotel after 5 hours of driving, my head throbbing with a headache that only a standard, 'normal' cup of tea could cure. However, it seems I checked into a parallel universe where 'normal' caffeine is a forbidden substance.
My room was a shrine to only 2 Decaf Coffee , 3 flavoured tea bags, 3 small bottles of water, No milk. No standard tea. It was as if the hotel was worried that if I had a single drop of caffeine, I would become too powerful.
When I asked the receptionist for a simple tea bag, they looked at me like I was asking for a kidney. They banished me to the restaurant. When I arrived at the bar, expecting a peace offering, the barman asked for money. At this point, I’m convinced the '4 Stars' on the door actually refer to the 4 specific flavored tea bags allowed on the premises.
I’ve stayed in budget roadside inns that treat milk like a human right, yet here, in the lap of 'luxury,' I am a caffeine refugee being asked to pay a ransom for a bean that should have been in my drawer. If you enjoy paying 4-star prices to be treated like you’re asking for a loan when you just want a brew, this is your paradise. For everyone else: bring your own cow and a jar of Nescafé."
Also rooms (booked 2 rooms) wasn't in good condition water damaged floors and doors, dirty toilet floor, overall not a nice experience at this hotel. Don't fall to the name and stars 👎🏼

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Beach Hotel in Almería
Finding the right hotel involves more than just picking the highest star rating; it is about matching the property to your travel style and expectations. The Almería coastline varies dramatically from one neighborhood to the next, so a little planning goes a long way. Consider these practical tips to help you secure the ideal stay and avoid common booking disappointments.
- Decide Between Urban Beach and Natural Park: Almería city offers a long, sandy beach with a lively promenade full of restaurants and shops, ideal for those who want nightlife and convenience. In contrast, areas near Cabo de Gata provide wilder, more secluded coves but require a car and offer fewer dining options within walking distance.
- Check the "Real" Walking Distance: A hotel might advertise as "near the beach," but Google Maps can reveal a different story. Look for properties located directly on the Paseo Marítimo or within a two-block radius to avoid crossing busy roads or walking long distances in the midday heat, especially if traveling with children or heavy luggage.
- Look for Sea View Room Specifications: Not all rooms in a beachfront hotel actually face the sea. If waking up to a water view is a priority, ensure you specifically book a "sea view" or "front-facing" room category rather than a standard "exterior" room, which might only overlook the street or a neighboring building.
- Consider the Wind Factor: Almería is known for the Levante wind, which can be strong at certain times of the year. When selecting a hotel with a rooftop bar or pool, look for properties that have windbreaks or sheltered terraces. A sea view is beautiful, but a constantly windy balcony can be uncomfortable.
- Prioritize On-Site Parking: If you plan to rent a car to explore the Almería province, parking can be a significant hidden cost and a logistical headache. Beachfront hotels in the city often have limited private garages. Confirm that the hotel has secure parking or a clear agreement with a nearby public lot before you arrive.
- Embrace the Local Chiringuitos: While hotel restaurants are convenient, the true flavor of Almería’s coast is found in its beach bars (chiringuitos). Choose a hotel that is within walking distance of these casual eateries so you can enjoy fresh seafood and cold drinks without needing to drive back to your room afterward.
Ultimately, the best hotel for you is one that enhances your experience of this unique landscape. By focusing on location, practical amenities, and the specific vibe you are after, you can find a base that feels like a home away from home. The gentle rhythm of the Mediterranean and the warmth of the Andalusian sun will do the rest.
Almería remains one of Spain’s most authentic coastal secrets, offering a depth of history and natural beauty that rewards the curious traveler. With the right hotel, your visit becomes more than just a beach holiday; it becomes a genuine connection to a place where the desert meets the sea.
