Paris holds a global reputation for grand boulevards, iconic monuments, and world-class museums, yet its true everyday charm often lives in the green spaces scattered throughout the city. These parks and gardens are not just patches of grass; they are meticulously designed living rooms where Parisians go to read, picnic, play, and simply exist outside their famously compact apartments.
The history of the Parisian garden is a story of power and leisure. From the formal French style perfected for royalty to the romantic English landscapes and the modern ecological promenades of today, each space offers a distinct atmosphere. Understanding this variety helps visitors choose the perfect setting for their mood, whether they seek regal symmetry or wild, untamed nature.
Visiting these green spaces is one of the most authentic ways to experience local culture. You will see children sailing wooden boats on historic ponds, elderly men playing pétanque under chestnut trees, and young professionals enjoying long lunches on manicured lawns. It is a chance to slow down and observe the rhythm of the city away from the traffic and tourist crowds.
Many of these locations are architectural masterpieces in their own right, housing statues by famous sculptors, rare tree species, and historical follies. They offer a visual feast that rivals the interiors of the Louvre or the Musée d’Orsay, but with fresh air and no entry fee for the majority of the grounds.
The changing seasons dramatically alter the experience of these gardens. Spring brings explosions of cherry blossoms and magnolias, summer offers dense shade and open-air concerts, autumn paints the landscapes in gold and rust, and winter reveals the stark, architectural bones of the designs.
Whether you are a first-time visitor looking for the classic postcard views or a returning traveler seeking a quiet corner to read a book, the city has a green space for you. Below is a curated list of the most compelling parks and gardens that define the Parisian art de vivre.

The Tuileries Garden is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places in Paris. Located between the Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde, it is the perfect place to take a break from sightseeing while enjoying the elegance and charm of one of the city's most famous parks.
The gardens are beautifully maintained, with perfectly landscaped pathways, colorful flower beds, elegant fountains, and impressive sculptures throughout. Walking beneath the tree-lined avenues and around the peaceful ponds creates a calm and enjoyable atmosphere, making it easy to spend hours exploring or simply relaxing.
One of the highlights of the garden is the stunning view stretching from the Louvre through the Tuileries to Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Élysées. The park also offers plenty of benches and the iconic green chairs, making it a wonderful place to sit, unwind, and watch Parisian life unfold.
The location is ideal, with many of Paris's most famous attractions just a short walk away. Whether you're heading to the Louvre, strolling along the Seine, or continuing toward the Champs-Élysées, the Tuileries Garden is a perfect stop along the way.
Overall, the Tuileries Garden is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Paris, combining natural beauty, history, and elegant landscaping. It is an essential part of any visit to the city and a place I would happily return to. It fully deserves a five-star rating.

It seems bizarre to review such a well-known place, but I enjoyed walking there. The hot-air-balloon-shaped Olympic cauldron was stunning to see. Beautiful flowers and statues everywhere, a reasonably priced place to grab a snack. Just a lovely place to grab a seat in the shade and while away the hours.

We visited the Tuileries Garden during our time in Paris. It is a large and pleasant garden in a very central location, making it a nice place to walk and spend some time while exploring the city.
There are wide walking paths, landscaped gardens, fountains, statues, and plenty of open space. From different parts of the garden you can also enjoy nice views of the surrounding Paris landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
During our visit, some sections were closed off with temporary fences, which affected the overall appearance and limited access to parts of the garden. There were also temporary attractions, including a large Ferris wheel and a balloon.
Overall, it is a nice place for a walk or a short break, especially if you are already visiting the Louvre or nearby areas. It is worth passing through while exploring central Paris.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review
Tuileries Garden is a beautiful and spacious park in Paris.
There is plenty of open space to walk around, relax, and take a quiet break from sightseeing. I also noticed playground areas, so it feels like a nice place for both families and visitors who just want to slow down.
The atmosphere is calm and elegant, and it’s a great spot to spend time between visiting museums or walking around central Paris.
A lovely garden to relax, enjoy the scenery, and take a peaceful break in the city.
Tyler Dylan★★★★★
After the crowds and intensity of the Louvre, the Tuileries Garden was the perfect change of pace. We had a wonderfully peaceful visit wandering beneath the beautiful rows of shade trees, sitting beside the large pools and fountains, and simply watching Paris go by.
One of my favorite moments was watching children sail the little wooden boats across the pond, pushing them away from the edge with long sticks and then waiting for the wind to bring them back. Knowing that children have been doing this in the Tuileries for generations made such a simple scene feel very special.
The summer carnival added a completely different kind of energy—colorful rides and swings soaring above the trees—yet there were still plenty of quiet places to sit, rest and enjoy the gardens. It somehow manages to be lively and peaceful at the same time.
The fountains, shady pathways, green chairs and wonderful people-watching made this much more than simply a walk between Paris attractions. It became a place to linger and reflect.
Five stars. Give yourself time here rather than just walking through on the way to somewhere else.

Lovely place full of pathways surrounded by pretty flowers, various plants. It is pleasant to take a walk and have a look around. There are also benches available on the way. It is free to visit the exterior part. There are several things to visit inside: a history museum, galeries about geology and paleontology, and a zoo but there are paid.

I absolutely loved my visit to Jardin des Plantes this March! 🌸 The beautiful cherry blossoms were in full bloom, creating such a picturesque setting. It was a truly delightful experience strolling through the gardens. 🚶♂️ I especially enjoyed the vibrant colors and serene atmosphere. I can't wait to go back! 🌳✨

A very large botanical garden in the 5th Arrondissement in Paris. There are many walking trails that wind you through the amazing older trees, there are many garden areas with multiple plantings (with all plants labeled) throughout the garden, in addition to the Merry Go Round for the children and the greenhouses for everyone.
We visited the last week in April so the tulips were almost done blooming along with a few of the other bulbs. There are a few trees and shrubs that are still in full bloom giving the garden some amazing color.
There are plenty of benches scattered throughout the walkways that you can enjoy a short rest along with public restrooms.
The green houses cost 9 euro to enter, with a reduction in price for younger visitors. The rest of the garden is free to enter and enjoy.

Absolutely beautiful gardens, trees and flowers. Huge place with free bathrooms within which was nice. You can talk a tunnel to a secret rock garden and high on hill can look into the kangaroo den. I came here on a sunny day to enjoy the warmth and sit on a bench to enjoy nature.

Beautiful manicured public garden. Loads of chairs to sit and relax. Beautiful grounds to spend an afternoon walking, reading, relaxing. Miniature sailboats in center fountain cost €8 for 30-minute rental, but fun to just watch the boats. Also has kids playground(€3/child entry) and carousel(€2/ride). Playground is really for kids under 8 but does have a good slide. For sure your child sits on outside horses on carousel to play the ring game, as all other seats do not get to play and they don’t post this.
Andrew Brown★★★★☆
The standout public garden in Paris. Choose your entrance well to get the best experience. Enter via the main gates. It’s an elevated position over the boating pool. It gives a clear sense of the time and effort that is put into this attraction. Head to the right for shade under the trees. Lots of seating to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Take a picnic. If you have little ones the boating lake offeres fun for €5 and tucked at the back of the park is a fabulous climbing and adventure playground.

Very large park in the 8th, with many walking paths, statues, water features and plantings that add color along with many trees. The large black and gold gates at the many entrances are breathtaking.
Benches are all around the park, some in the sun and some in the shade. Grassy areas to sit and enjoy the afternoon along with areas for younger people to enjoy the warmer weather. There is no fee to enter and water fountains are all over the park.
The water feature with the roman columns surrounding part it is impressive. There are collections of other ruins throughout the parc, with columns, stone entrance ways, stone blocks and more.
Great park to visit while in Paris, one of the most beautiful.

I visited Parc Monceau at around 3:41 PM on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The weather was perfect — bright and sunny without being too hot, with a fresh and comfortable atmosphere.
The park felt peaceful and relaxing. I saw many elderly people enjoying a quiet walk, while couples were sitting together and embracing under the shade of the trees. The greenery and open spaces create a wonderful environment to unwind and escape the busy city streets.
There is also a playground for children, along with places to buy ice cream, drinks, and snacks, making it a great destination for families. Many families were having picnics on the grass, enjoying meals together in the pleasant weather.
Another convenient feature is the availability of public restrooms inside the park.
Overall, Parc Monceau is a charming and well-maintained park that offers something for everyone, whether you are looking for a peaceful stroll, a family outing, or simply a beautiful place to relax in Paris.
David T. Brown★★★★☆
Classic and celebrated urban park with a collection of interesting statuary, follies, a picturesque bridge, and a general air of faded unkempt glory, redeemed by the vibrancy of its local users, the patina of age and beauty of mature trees, and its legendary status. Womens's toilets were (quite predictably) out of order, so don't plan on a pit stop, but it is definitely worth a visit and a wander. Listen to French singer Yves Duteil's poignant musical reminiscence "Au Parc Monceau" before you go, to set the mood.
scared of the dark★★★★★
Beautiful 18th century park in the 8th arrondissement with winding paths and plenty of benches where you can sit and read a book or watch the world go by. Inside the park there is a folly in the shape of a small pyramid, a colonnade that curves around the edge of a pond that has a mature weeping willow framing it from the other side, and a small Venetian style bridge. There’s also a 16th century archway that was salvaged from the ruins of the old Paris city hall after the fire of 1871. The trees and flowers looked beautiful in may and it’s clear that they are very well looked after.

I’ve always loved the parks in Paris. They are always well-maintained and by far the prettiest parks of all European cities. But did I just stumble on mother?! It’s amazing!!!! I’m happy it wasn’t too crowded. A real hidden gem in the middle of Paris without all the tourists (myself included). Great to cool down on a hot day in the shade or to run apparently with all the breathtaking height differences the park offers. Absolutely stunning!
Y B★★★☆☆
An interesting park designed around a 100-foot hill, with a spectacular cliff island (a former gypsum mine transformed under Napoleon III). Approaching from the north side, you're greeted with the iconic view of the clifftop rotunda and hundreds of picnickers. The park is rather popular with locals who suntan and relax, often with a CBD joint, particularly on the eastern slopes that face west with ample afternoon sunshine. Unfortunately, the best part of the park is closed for renovations that should have begun two years ago in 2022 (no sign of active work), and you can't walk around the island or access the island or the rotunda. On the plus side, most of the park is paved and not very dusty like Jardin du Luxembourg, more like Parc Andre Citroen in this regard, just way more crowded, and the best parts are closed. All in all, a nice park to see, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it now that I know you can't go up. Oh, and the only public bathroom has a perpetually long line.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is a truly beautiful park with a unique landscape set on hills. The winding paths are lovely to walk, and the park is quite large, with cliffs, small waterfalls, and a peaceful lake.
It’s a great spot for a picnic, with a play area for kids and even a small, cute café. We’ve visited in both winter and summer, and it’s equally charming in every season.

Wonderful park to stroll through while walking around Paris. It was quite hot when I was there so the shade provided from the trees was very welcome.
Plenty of benches too if you choose to sit for a while.
Very clean and safe as well.

I can see how these gardens are beautiful. Unfortunately we came in the rugby world championship and everything was torn apart. Aside from that there were parts that were very beautiful and sculptures placed in so you can be there to admire them. Definitely a place to relax in a big city!

Lovely castle worth visit. I recommend to buy audio guide too. Overcrowded however it's well organized at the entrance. It's good to buy a ticket online with a time slot in advance and then just go straight to the entrance skipping all that huge queue in front of ticket office.
As for gardens from April you need to pay additional €10, (€9 for kids) to see it. The gardens plus parc are huge so if you are tired of walking you can just rent a golf car or wait for a little train that goes to all interesting sites. There are few takeaways and restaurants there too. The gardens and parc are well kept however it wasn't breathtaking for me. At least not in April.

Hands down one of the best places to enjoy the Eiffel Tower view. The perspective from here is absolutely stunning, especially if you want that classic Paris photo with the tower in the background.
It’s a beautiful spot to walk around, take pictures, and just enjoy the atmosphere. Whether you visit during the day or at night when the Eiffel Tower lights up, the view is unforgettable.
If you’re in Paris, this is definitely one of the must-visit spots.

This is the best viewpoint of Eiffel Tower in my opinion! The stairs are grand and are famous for couple photoshoot! In summer, this place offers open air performances and the vibe en s unmatched. Its even possible that you end up singing a karaoke yourself! Pro tip : you might find street vendors selling lipsmacking snacks, so keep some space in your tummy if you’re visiting post dinner

Jardins du Trocadéro is truly one of those rare places that stays with you forever. From the moment you step into the gardens, you feel an instant sense of calm mixed with excitement. The view of the Eiffel Tower is simply breathtaking—especially when seen from across the fountains. It’s not just a viewpoint; it’s an experience that captures the true spirit of Paris.
What makes this place so special is the atmosphere. Families relaxing on the lawns, street performers adding energy, and couples quietly enjoying the scenery—it feels alive yet peaceful at the same time. The fountains create a magical charm, especially in the evening when the lights reflect beautifully against the water. Every corner feels like a perfect photo spot, but more importantly, it creates memories that stay in your heart long after you leave.
I visited with my family, and it became one of the most cherished moments of our trip. Watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle from this spot felt surreal, almost like a dream. It’s a place where time slows down, allowing you to truly absorb the beauty around you.
If you are visiting Paris, Jardins du Trocadéro is absolutely a must-visit. It’s not just a garden—it’s a lifetime memory waiting to happen. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the magic of Paris in its purest form.

Many tourists come here just to take photos, and honestly, I don’t really understand why. If you’re visiting Paris, I’d recommend skipping this place—or at the very least, be extremely careful with your belongings.
There are many people in the area trying to steal from tourists in different ways. We even tried to warn other visitors, but some of those individuals became aggressive, confronted us, and threatened us.
What surprised me most was the apparent lack of police presence to protect tourists and the public. At least during my visit, I didn’t feel that enough was being done to ensure people’s safety.
T. Melendez★★★★★
The view here is absolutely worth it!!! We took an Uber and it dropped us off right in the front the steps looking towards the Eiffel Tower. We went on a Monday around 2pm and there wasn’t a ton of people there. We also went to the restaurant right next to it called Cafe de l’Homme, which was a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower. I highly recommend going there (very pricey though) if you’d like to spend a special night together with a great view.

Massive park not too far from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Tree covered walking trails lead you to the lake that is just beautiful.
There are many areas to sit and enjoy shade around the lake with grassy areas that can be used as a picnic area.
We stumbled upon a small children's area with a few small mini houses that the kids can play in and climb.
We didn't walk too far into the park, but didn't see public bathrooms on the trails we walked. We did pass a few water spigots on our walk.

Gorgeous. Accessible in the sense there are no stairs but its mostly gravel and grass and there are some steep drops, but otherwise you can go places that are pretty accessible. Feels very much like the kinds of national parks you find in southern Quebec/Ontario, Canada

This park is amazing, and really has it all. Great for running, going on a stroll, biking, walking your dog, they have a calisthenics park, several little kiosks to stop and have a drink, amazing for birdwatching. There are several kilometres of trails, you can spend all day here. Just a great place to disconnect from the city while still being right in Paris. You can come any time of the year and it is still beautiful.

The Palais-Royal Garden is a beautiful place to spend a relaxing afternoon in Paris. There are plenty of chairs where you can sit, enjoy a picnic, have a glass of wine, and simply take in the peaceful atmosphere and stunning architecture.
I’m not giving it 5 stars because there are quite a few rats around, waiting for food to fall so they can quickly take a bite. It can be a bit uncomfortable, especially if you are planning to eat or have a picnic. Still, it’s a lovely place to walk around and enjoy a quiet moment in the city... just be mindful of your food.

One of the best free photo spots in Paris. Wide open lawn with an unobstructed view straight up at the Eiffel Tower — perfect for getting the whole tower in frame, especially at sunset or after dark when it sparkles on the hour. Champ de Mars is a beautiful green open space in the heart of Paris that everyone can enjoy. I loved walking through the park and relaxing on the large grassy areas. There were lots of people taking in the amazing views of the Eiffel Tower from this location. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it a great place to spend some time outdoors, and best of all, it is free to visit. Since this area attracts large crowds of visitors, be aware of pickpockets and keep a close eye on your belongings, as it can be a prime spot for pickpocketing.

Champ de Mars is one of the best places in Paris to enjoy views of the Eiffel Tower. The large open green space provides plenty of room to walk, relax, and take photos from different angles. It is a great place to sit for a while and appreciate one of the world’s most famous landmarks.
The park is well maintained and has a lively atmosphere, with both locals and tourists enjoying the area. Whether visiting during the day or in the evening, the views of the Eiffel Tower are impressive. I especially enjoyed walking through the park and seeing how the perspective of the tower changes as you move around.
The location is convenient and easy to access, making it an excellent stop while exploring Paris. Even though it can be busy, the size of the park means there is usually enough space to find a quiet spot. A beautiful and iconic place that is worth visiting at least once when in Paris.

The park has public restrooms, kiosks and plenty of street vendors selling drinks, snacks and souvenirs. It’s a great spot to take a break from sightseeing and relax for a while before continuing to explore the city.
The nearest metro stations are École Militaire, La Motte-Picquet–Grenelle, and Champ de Mars–Tour Eiffel, making it easy to reach from almost anywhere in Paris.

Our family of four recently visited Champ de Mars in Paris, and it was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing parts of our trip. Located directly beside the Eiffel Tower, the park offers wonderful views and plenty of open space where families can take a break from the busy city.
We arrived during the daytime and were immediately impressed by the beautiful scenery. The Eiffel Tower looked spectacular from the park, making it an ideal place for family photographs. The children enjoyed having plenty of space to walk around and explore, while we appreciated the opportunity to sit down, relax and take in the atmosphere.
One of the best things about Champ de Mars is that it is free to visit, making it a great choice for families travelling on a budget. We brought some snacks and drinks with us and enjoyed a simple family picnic while admiring the view. There were also plenty of people around, giving the area a lively but pleasant atmosphere.
The location is very convenient, with easy access to the Eiffel Tower and nearby attractions. However, it can become quite busy, particularly during popular visiting times, so visiting earlier in the day may provide a more peaceful experience. Parents should also keep an eye on younger children because of the crowds.
Overall, our family of four had a lovely time at Champ de Mars. The combination of beautiful views, open space, family-friendly atmosphere and proximity to the Eiffel Tower made it a memorable stop during our Paris visit. We would definitely recommend it to other families.✨

This place is perfect for a date (or a family day : although kids might find it boring in the greenhouses and make too much noise/try to walk in the fish pond --> seen that).
The atmosphere is great, quiet compared to the busy Paris streets, and the plants and descriptions are interesting for sure.
Entrance is free
Closure is at 6:30 indeed
For the 2 secondary greenhouses (not the main one), they open only when the gardener is here (it was closed for us, which was a shame).
After this, you could go to "bois de boulogne" for a walk, or back to city center with metro 9 or rer C (beware some rer C stations are closed recently)

Beautiful garden and green houses, and all entrance free. Perfect for a relaxing moment alone or with fiends. Can’t hear the noises of the city and you feel like in a jungle in some of the green houses. Grab your lunch and get there for a break.

Beautiful jardin near the PSG stadium. We had a calm, peaceful walk through the greenhouses and beautiful garden. There are many benches to sit and admire the garden.

We loved our visit to the botanical gardens. Plants are separated out by type and climate so it was really nice to spend lots of time strolling through all of the different sections. There’s supposedly bathrooms but we didn’t seem to find them. Outside of that though we were able to find our way around so easily and learn so much with all the signs.

Very nice park that I and my friend discovered coicidently. It was free and very interesting to visit different areas with plants from everywhere (Africa, Asia,….); an area just for cactus; or orchid…The park was big and is a great place to chill.

One of my favorite parks in Paris. It has so much to offer museum of music/ the symphony of Paris/ a submarine which you can visit/ concert and exhibition hall/ restaurants/ bars/ the water canal and of course a massive green area to just sit and picnic when the weather allows it. Not to forget the many areas for kids and also activities like playing ping pong or pétanque. Check out their website.
Cornelia Rotaru★★★★★
La Villette is where Paris breathes differently. Beyond the city's grand boulevards and timeless monuments lies a vast landscape of imagination, where nature, art, science, and music intertwine beneath open skies.
Along the gentle curves of the Canal de l’Ourcq, reflections dance upon the water as cyclists, dreamers, and wanderers follow paths lined with gardens and striking crimson follies. Here, every season paints a new masterpiece—spring blossoms awaken hidden corners, summer fills the lawns with laughter and music, autumn scatters golden leaves across winding pathways, and winter wraps the park in quiet contemplation.
La Villette is more than a park; it is a living poem written in green spaces, contemporary architecture, and cultural discovery. Home to world-renowned institutions, vibrant performances, and moments of simple serenity, it invites visitors to lose themselves between creativity and nature, between movement and stillness.
In this extraordinary corner of Paris, the city reveals a different rhythm—one that echoes with curiosity, freedom, and the endless possibility of wonder.
Jamie Wojciechowski★★★★★
Massive park on the outskirts of the city with many walking trails, some elevated, some covered with tress, others with water features and some just out in the open.
Multiple play areas for the little ones with an amusement park towards the middle of the park near the canal access. Areas to ride bikes along the canal with plenty of space to just sit and relax.
There are not many flower plantings in the park, so mostly just green with trees and bamboo or schrubs.
Plenty of space to move through the park, it never feels crowded. The entrance I used, directly out of the metro station, had a few large buildings which looked like large theatres for music and other arts.
Worth a visit once your tired of the crowds in Paris.

It’s a very good place with lots of entertainment and food. There’s a lott of variety of foods under a single roof. They have bowling and arcade games in the ground floor. They have cinema with lots of screen and also with IMAX screen on the third floor. It’s a very good hangout spot and has variety of entertainment

I visited the Grande Halle de la Villette yesterday to attend the Titanic: The Legend experience, which I had booked for 10:00 a.m. Unfortunately, my experience with some of the staff was very disappointing.
I arrived by bicycle, and the security officer explained to me that it was not permitted to bring the bicycle battery inside the hall. I therefore asked whether they could keep the battery for me during the session. The security officer kindly called his supervisor to ask if this would be possible.
However, a woman came out and refused to keep my battery. The security officer also asked her whether I could leave my bicycle in the closed parking area, but she refused. Several security officers asked her if I could leave my bicycle there, but she continued to refuse.
I was then told to go to the ticket desk to request a refund, even though my ticket had already been scanned, so I could no longer simply ask for a refund.
Eventually, another security officer told me to go and get my bicycle and allowed me to leave it in the closed parking area. I would like to point out that the security officers I encountered were very friendly, understanding and professional.
On the other hand, I found the attitude of this woman very unprofessional. Even during the virtual reality experience, her attitude towards me was unpleasant and inappropriate.
I also wondered why other customers were allowed to leave their bicycles while I was refused permission to do so. All customers should be treated equally and with the same level of respect.
I completely understand the safety rules regarding bicycle batteries. My criticism is mainly about the way my situation was handled and the attitude of this particular staff member.
I hope the Grande Halle de la Villette will take this feedback into consideration and improve the way visitors are welcomed and treated.

The Palais-Royal Garden is one of Paris's most beautiful and peaceful places. The perfectly maintained gardens, elegant arcades, and historic architecture create a truly charming atmosphere. It's an ideal spot to relax, take a stroll, or simply enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. Located just steps from the nearby galleries and cultural attractions, it's a must-visit for anyone exploring Paris. A timeless oasis in the heart of the city, highly recommended.

Entered the grounds to visit the gardens but amazed at the beauty of the structure that wandered through the many black and white stripped columns. The structure that surrounds the grounds is massive and very well maintained. The structure was created by Cardinal de Richelieu in 1633, the Palais Royal and its gardens, were home to the royal families until Versailles was built.
The gardens are quite large and colorful with chairs and benches to sit and rest with some around the beautiful fountain.
Beautiful structure and gardens.

What opulence the Cardinals had in the Monarchy at that period.
Such grandeur structures with gardens attached makes today a sight for tourists.
A sculpture has been placed in a forecourt, allowing people to stand on and take photos.

A place worth visiting for any nature lover. Evenly trimmed lawns, people resting on benches, some of them hidden from the sun among the trees, lush bushes, a roundabout in the distance, beautiful monuments... in short, a photographer's paradise. The path inside the park was sometimes problematic at times and it was difficult to move with the help of a walker, but overall positive impressions.

This park is a gem, especially at the time when roses are in bloom. Gorgeous grounds. It’s an easy ride using public transport, just make sure to wear comfortable shoes as you’ll need to take a walk on hiking path from the bus to the park

The park is quite big. There are 4,5 peacocks roam free inside the park, they don’t really move elsewhere but staying on the grass field as shown. No crowded since this park is located quite far from city centre. The entry fee is 2.80€. There were some wild cats too, they are pretty friendly and will show up to the sidewalk around 16h waiting to be fed.
At the entrance you have toilette, a gift shop & a crêpes, ice cream stand.

Beautiful park, very big with some water bodies and scattered attractions. Especially there are gooes and some peacocks, suitable for kids. Their ice cream at the entrance is really good too.
Only downside is that bus ends soon on sunday and holidays (last service 19h), you will have to walk 10m to the next stop. Queue might be long on holidays too.

If you want to escape the tourist crowds and find the 'real' mystical Paris, you have to visit Parc Montsouris. As a photographer and someone who looks for the magic in every corner, I can tell you this park has a unique, wild energy that’s completely different from the formal gardens in the center.
The Ultimate 'Pro-Tip' for Good Luck:
There is a local legend here that you won’t find in any guidebook. Keep your eyes sharp for a woman who often walks through the park with a magnificent white parrot. They say that encountering this duo is a rare sign of good fortune for your journey. If you see them, consider your trip to Paris officially blessed! It’s one of those surreal, beautiful moments that makes you fall in love with the soul of this city.
The park itself is stunning—rolling hills, a beautiful lake, and a sense of peace that’s hard to find elsewhere. It’s the perfect spot to rest your soul (and your feet!) and just soak in the atmosphere. A true 'place of power' for those who know where to look. Highly recommended!

A unique and beautiful jardin in the heart of Paris city 14th arrondissement near the one of the oldest university in Paris (Cité). This parc is unique because it’s quite having so much “features” it has a calming atmosphere near the lake area, it has hills with endless green grass for picnic during spring-summer, beautiful flowers corner in most of the area, kids playground, so many green benches to enjoy the view and weather.

A beautiful park teeming with wildlife. So many species of birds, if you're a bird watcher or just like ducks you'll enjoy sitting round the lake. It did sadden me to see so many people giving them bread, even when there are signs up warning against it (though they're in french, so maybe they were tourists who couldn't read it) and I almost assume it's common knowledge at this point? So if you go, be sure NOT to feed them bread! There's also some beautiful paths and streams with flowers of all different species. There's a kiosk which sells food, but it wasn't open when I went. The hill can be steep at times, and has some steps, so I'm not sure how accessible it is for wheelchair users, but there are many benches.

Practical Tips for Visiting Parisian Parks
To truly enjoy the green spaces of Paris like a local, it helps to understand the unspoken rules and rhythms that govern these public areas. The experience can vary wildly depending on the time of day, the season, and the specific regulations of each park. Here is how to make the most of your visit.
1). Check the lawn rules before you sit
Not all grass in Paris is created equal. In many formal gardens, such as the Tuileries or the Luxembourg Gardens, large sections of lawn are strictly off-limits to preserve the turf. Look for signs that say “Pelouse Autorisée” (lawn allowed) or “Pelouse Interdite” (lawn forbidden). However, many parks like the Champ de Mars or Buttes-Chaumont are very relaxed and encourage sitting anywhere.
2). Bring your own picnic supplies
While many popular parks have kiosks or cafes, they can be expensive and crowded. The best approach is to stop at a local boulangerie, fromagerie, and wine shop before heading to the park. A fresh baguette, some cheese, and a bottle of rosé purchased from a neighborhood shop will almost always be better quality and cheaper than what is sold inside the park gates.
3). Plan for the “Golden Hours”
Parisian parks are most magical in the early morning and the late afternoon. Mornings are quiet, populated mostly by joggers and dog walkers, offering a peaceful atmosphere for meditation or photography. Late afternoon, especially between 4 PM and 7 PM, is when the social scene peaks, with friends gathering for after-work drinks and children filling the playgrounds.
4). Understand the closing times
Unlike some cities where parks are open 24/7, most Parisian parks are gated and close at dusk. Closing times vary by season and by the specific park; some smaller squares close as early as 5:30 PM in winter, while larger parks may stay open until 9:30 PM or later in summer. Always check the posted hours at the entrance to avoid getting locked inside or finding the gates shut when you arrive for a sunset picnic.
5). Look for free facilities
Paris has invested heavily in public amenities within its green spaces. You will often find free public restrooms (sanisettes), drinking water fountains (including some with sparkling water), and free Wi-Fi in many major parks. Knowing where these are can save you money and make a long afternoon in the sun much more comfortable.
6). Explore beyond the center
While the parks in the first eight arrondissements are stunning, some of the most innovative and relaxing green spaces are on the edges of the city. The Petite Ceinture, an abandoned railway line turned into a wild walking trail, and the vast woods of the Bois de Vincennes offer a completely different, less touristy experience.
Taking the time to wander through these landscapes offers a deeper understanding of the Parisian soul. The city is a dense, bustling metropolis, but it is balanced by these carefully preserved sanctuaries.
Whether you are admiring a perfectly pruned rose bush or lying under a hundred-year-old tree, you are participating in a tradition that has been central to Parisian life for centuries. Let the city’s gardens be your quiet refuge, a place to rest your feet and recharge your spirit before continuing your urban adventure.
