Finding a comfortable place to stay in Paris does not have to drain your travel budget before you even step foot inside a museum. While the 7th arrondissement is known for its elegance, Haussmannian architecture, and proximity to iconic landmarks, it also hides a surprising number of affordable gems. The key is knowing where to look and what trade-offs—like room size or elevator access—you are willing to accept.
Staying near the Musée d’Orsay places you in the heart of the Left Bank. You are within a pleasant stroll of the Seine, the Tuileries Garden, and the literary cafés of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. More importantly, you save significant time and money on public transportation, allowing you to reinvest those savings into croissants, exhibition tickets, and late-night walks along the river.
Budget-friendly in Paris is a relative term, often meaning anything under 200 euros a night depending on the season. However, "budget" does not have to mean sacrificing cleanliness, safety, or character. Many of the city’s two-star and three-star hotels offer immaculate rooms, incredibly helpful front-desk staff, and a local charm that large luxury chains often lack.
When evaluating affordable hotels in this district, it is essential to consider the total cost of your stay. A hotel slightly further from the museum but closer to a Metro hub or a vibrant market street can offer better value. You should also look for properties that include breakfast or have access to shared kitchenettes to help cut down on dining expenses.
The following selections prioritize guest reviews, consistent cleanliness, and accessibility to the Musée d’Orsay. We have focused on properties that offer private bathrooms and reliable Wi-Fi, as these are non-negotiable for most modern travelers. You will notice that many of these options feature compact rooms, which is standard for historic Parisian buildings.
By choosing one of these accommodations, you are trading sprawling lobbies and room service for location and authenticity. You will likely be stepping directly out onto a classic Parisian street, greeted by the scent of fresh bread from a nearby boulangerie. That is the true value of staying in this neighborhood.
Here are 12 budget-friendly hotels near the Musée d’Orsay that prove you can stay in the center of Paris without breaking the bank.

The room was very comfortable and clean. Plenty of space to hang up your clothes, a kettle in the room made it nice to make a coffee in the morning. It was nice to open up the French doors and get fresh air in and to watch the early morning foot traffic as they left for work. It felt like you were part of the community.

Staff where amazing. Could not fault. bottled Water always on hand for free. Fam in room if needed. Room was small but had a balcony. Little outdated in decor in places. But satisfied needs. But clean and maintenence good. Didnt get breakfast.so cant comment on that. Local food Korean style in area. Little too far out for us location wise. For the money we paid was good. Small hotel . Fully working lift. Spiral stairs. Wouldn't stay again jusy due to location for us. But would recommend for anyone on a budget

I chose this hotel because I was drawn to the fact that Baudelaire once stayed here during his early, lesser-known years. From the balcony of my classic-style room, I could even see the National Library — a wonderful setting for anyone who loves literature.
The neighborhood is full of charming cafés, restaurants, and boutiques, and the location is fantastic. The Louvre Museum, the Opéra Garnier, and the Palais-Royal are all about a 10-minute walk away. I truly enjoyed staying in such an inspiring and convenient area.
That said, I wouldn’t recommend having high expectations for the breakfast😅

Hotel Baudelaire is conveniently located just north of the Louvre near several metro stops that can get you across the city! The staff are incredible, every single one was very helpful spoke great English and were very accommodating of my poor French attempts (Merci!). The beds were firm. The showers had excellent water pressure, and it was a wonderful base of operations for our week long trip! Thank you to the staff for helping make Paris magical for my wife and our friends!
Quietly Rated★★★★★
Hotel Baudelaire Opéra is a solid choice if you’re looking for a well-located, no-frills stay in Paris. As a three-star hotel, it offers good value for money, with decent rooms that are generally clean, even if not perfect. The location is convenient, and the service stands out as particularly friendly and welcoming, making the overall experience easy and comfortable. A reliable option if you want something simple that does the job well.
Quietly rated: worth stopping.
Hôtel de Villette

jmtt vbgp★★★★★
The palace was inhabited by the Marquis de Villette, but it's best known as Voltaire's residence, where he lived from his return to Paris in February 1787 until his death in May of the same year.
The street that runs in front of the building, though not the entrance, is named Quai Voltaire.
The building itself isn't open to the public, as far as I know. Perhaps the restaurant on the ground floor, facing the river, is open to visitors.

Paris wouldn't be so fabulous without this hotel stay! I have been in this hotel in October 2019 and had one of the memorable amazing stay. The location is perfect in heart of historical part of the city in walking distance to Louvre, surrounded by shops, cafes, restaurants and so on. Style of rooms are so vintage, cozy and fresh. Its like been a part of Paris history. The breakfast are so delicious, I have never tried so tasty and fresh bakery with traditional cheese and butter and coffee and fruits. All staff are so adorable, helped us so many times were very polite and friendly. Definitely I will stay there again and recommended to my friends. Miss you Paris and my cozy hotel!

A lovely little hotel with a fabulous location close to many of Paris's landmarks.
The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms were quaint but comfortable and clean. The ensuite bathroom was clean and functional with lots of cupboard space and great water pressure.
The bed was comfortable and the linen clean although the blankets could do with an extra clean.
Optional breakfast was adequate and we took advantage of it on a few days.
Overall a very pleasant hotel that was recommended to us by family and we also have no hesitation in recommending.

Close to perfection! Hotel is close to three metro stations and just 10 minutes from Louvre and Opera. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops are also their. Nice charming old furniture, everythings clean and beautiful. Really appreciate the staff! Only negative point: the room is way too small, with not so much storing space. And elevator is also small. and loud. Overall, would recommend this place, good spent of money.

I had a little bit of hard time finding the Hotel at first, but it was near the Louvre and other gardens and museums. It is in the center of Paris and the price was also very reasonable. I also received a lot of help from the counter of the Hotel where I should eat to try good French dishes, and she was very friendly. The building itself is a little bit old but the rooms are clean and the toilet is very nice. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

This was our second stay in two years at this hotel. Improvement in WIFI since our previous stay. Appreciated availability of small refrigerator in the room. Pleased to have good air conditioning during our stay. Staff extremely friendly and helpful with directions and assistance with arranging taxi to airport and making dinner reservations for us.

Drawing gallery and drawing supplies shop at the foot of a theme hotel. The exhibit downstairs when I visited was engaging and well executed. They even had a video room that animated some of the themes from the nearby drawings. There was no admission fee. Definitely worth stopping in if you're passing by.

Very nice petit art gallery downstairs. Some cool contemporary art. Enriching experience. Very nice friendly girl at the entrance.
I saw some Croatian letter on the book cover on thw window, so I came in to discover that it was a book on contemporary art and there was a nice art gallery down the stairs.
You can get some cathalog here for many other art galleries arround town to visit.

We paid €420 for two nights at Hôtel de Nesle and would not return.
At this price, we got (we didn't realise at the time of booking!) a room with NO private toilet; guests had to use a communal toilet in the corridor. The shower and sink were openly inside the bedroom, without proper bathroom privacy. This was especially inappropriate for a twin room booked for two adults.
We complained immediately after seeing the room and requested a refund, but this was refused. We were offered a different room for the second night only after we had already paid and had limited practical options in Paris. That room had the only added benefit of ensuite bathroom.
Both rooms had serious issues. We documented dirt, dust, stained bedding, deteriorated/dirty sealant, damaged finishes, poor maintenance, ants, excessive street noise and a hairdryer with a taped electrical cable and visible internal elements.
A historic building can have character, but it does not excuse poor hygiene, ants, defective equipment, lack of bathroom privacy or unclear disclosure of communal toilet facilities.
The impression the hotel makes on ther website and advertising is massively different what it actually is.
The hotel offered only a €60 voucher for a future stay, which is meaningless because we would not stay there again. We are pursuing a refund through authorities.

What a funky GEM! I adored this unique boutique hotel. Nothing fancy but TONS of character. Each room has its own theme and is lovely. The inner garden is perfect for a home made Happy Hour. The manager is so very helpful (let me check in very early and carried my heavy bag to my room). He also had a great sense of humor. Centrally located to everything and the cafe on the corner was a perfect place for a night cap.

The location of the hotel was excellent; we were able to walk everywhere. It’s very close to the Louvre Museum and many other attractions. Everyone at the reception was very sweet. The owner was very attentive and helped us a lot. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean, and our room was cleaned every day. We chose a room with a shared toilet, but the toilet was quite small. Other than that, everything was great. Thank you for everything! I will definitely recommend this place.

Charming small boheme style hotel with great location on a calm side street just off Pont Neuf and rue Dauphine. I used to stay here in the 1980s, when it was still run by Mme Nesle herself. Today it's owned by her grandchild. Now it's renovated to much better standard, but still with the odd charm and oriental decorations in place (and no television in the room). My room even had a small private terrace. Simple but nice and clean, with very friendly staff. There is no breakfast, but plenty of food options nearby. It was a very nice experience to return almost 40 years later and spend a Saturday night here again.

No air conditioning in any rooms. The rooms are super super small. Much smaller than you are thinking. The fan on the ceiling barely worked and didn't blow any air down on you. No front desk, no concierge, big bottom to the main entrance door so you have to lift luggage up over it. Super tiny elevator that fits one adult and 1 piece of luggage max. This is a very low end Airbnb not a hotel by any means. Do not stay here, there are plenty of actual hotels by the Lourve.

We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation. The location is truly amazing, everything you need is within walking distance, and most places can be reached in just 15–20 minutes. Even if you want to walk into Paris, it’s about a 30-minute walk, and the city is very walkable, so there’s really no need to use public transportation when staying here.
During one of the mornings there was a power outage, which was completely beyond the hosts’ control. Nevertheless, they handled the situation very professionally and kindly offered us a full breakfast the following day as an apology, which we really appreciated.
Overall, a great place to stay with an excellent location and thoughtful hosts. We would definitely recommend it.

Very good location if you just want to go out and be right in the centre. We had issues with our room: door wouldn’t open and couldn’t get to our things. Staff kindly gave us another room but without our things (+no charger!!!) we couldn’t do anything and basically lost a day and had to cancel reservations.
Handyman apparently thought it wasn’t urgent.
And horrible smell in the hallway

WS Louvre Casanova - WS ROOMS:
Unacceptable experience - Bed bug infestation
We stayed one night at this property in June 2025, and the experience was absolutely unacceptable. The next day, my partner and I discovered multiple bed bug bites.
We immediately contacted the property, which acknowledged the issue by phone and promised compensation. Since then, despite multiple follow-ups by email and phone, we have received no concrete solution.
More than a month has passed, and all we get are vague responses about "waiting for a manager's approval", with no regard for the serious inconvenience we suffered: itching, stress, sleepless nights, and the fear of contaminating our home and belongings.
Booking.com was informed but has not provided a resolution either.
I strongly advise against booking this place. It shows a complete lack of accountability and care for guests, even in the face of serious health concerns.
PS: The roof fan doesn't cool at all. On the other hand, it distributes dust throughout the room.
Jian Chen★☆☆☆☆
A particularly bad experience! We stayed at this hotel after a tiring day and found that the kitchen utensils were covered in oil stains and fingerprints, and the fan could not be used when the lights were turned off (which means you either have to leave a light to use the fan, which greatly affects sleep quality). The worst thing is that when you just lay down, you found blood stains on the bed sheet and blanket, which is the most basic hygiene bottom line. This hotel cannot even do this well. Please do not stay. I was also deceived by the pictures on the website. There are many better hotels to choose from at such prices, and this hotel is simply a disaster.

We spent 4 nights at the hotel on the 4th floor and were very satisfied. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the hotel was pleasantly heated in March, which we appreciated. The bathroom was large enough and fully equipped (towels, shampoo, soap). We were also pleased with the nice garden and especially the excellent price per night.
The location is great - right next to the metro, bakery and Monoprix grocery store. I definitely recommend!

Second time staying here and we plan to stay again. Cosy and well equipped rooms, accommodating staff in the best location. Very disappointing to see people leaving negative reviews regarding the lack of lift, this is very clearly stated - open your eyes!

The comments made refer correctly to its size but it's a great little hotel in an historic area of France with a strong local community. Excellent advice from the receptionist. As with all Parisian hotels the higher the room, the lower the price! The French-style breakfast provides plenty of choice with superb bread. Several bars, cafes and brasseries on the Rue itself. A fantastic patisserie and a bakery opposite a few steps away. Rooms cleaned promptly, daily.

The hotel is too small... rooms also.. no elevator
And it doesn't matter for management... if i asked very nice, becouse i have a leg problems , difficult to climb stairs... and becouse i read all coomments about this proplems... i asked a room at first floor....and they... were very very nice and very carreful about my problems... Gave me a room at fourth floor!! 🤠🤠🤠
So.. if you want to stay in this area... and have no other choice... stay here...
Otherwise.. find a better place to stay
And... do not forget, if you want break fast in the morning, you have to inform reception one day before.
You can not have a coffe or tea without thinking one day before. This info u din not get when u arrive.. u discover where u are in the front on coffee machine!!😇
And... WiFi at 3 floor it is not working

As long as you aren't looking for something quiet, because this is a busy lively street with action almost 24 hours a day, the location is excellent, the breakfast is excellent, plus coffee you can enjoy all day. The room is not fancy but has everything you need. Easy walk to many popular destinations. Great food everywhere.

It’s the best place to stay if you want to be near to the major landmarks only Eiffel tower will be at a fair distance, but with plenty of metro stations nearby, it’s easy access. despite of being not a very spacious hotel, it was spotless clean elevator is an issue, it’s a very old building hence it’s very small, but as I was staying at the first floor, it didn’t bother me much.
Plenty of cafes nearby Great spots for breakfast ,I have included a lot of neighbourhood photos as well, a niche boutique Hotel at this rate is a jackpot in the heart of Paris.

Hotel Saint Roch has a great location — right near all the main sights, which makes it very convenient for exploring the city. However, the rooms are extremely small, and it can feel cramped very quickly. For a slightly higher price, it’s definitely better to book another hotel with more comfortable accommodations.

Lovely old hotel. We had a double superior room which was well priced for the location and size. AC available and greatly appreciated. Slightly cramped bathroom but perfectly serviceable. Some of the receptionists were a little too much, but the younger ones were polite and friendly. An elevator (tiny) goes nearly to the top. I loved the exposed beams in the room. Cleanliness is good. Very simple, but since we spent most of our time out and about, it was perfectly fine for coming back at the end of day and collapsing on the bed! The TV has English language stations. You leave the key at reception when you go out - a nice thing not to worry about losing it.

It was our first time in Paris and we stayed for only 2 nights. For first time visitors it’s the perfect location since everything is really close by. Everything is in walking distance the supermarket, restaurants, the louvre etc. As our receptionist did we have the pleasure of meeting Eric. He was super helpful and friendly, told us everything we need to know about safety and at our last day even gave us a little souvenir. He made us feel very welcome and made our trip so much better. Such a fun way for 4 people to share a room. Really friendly staff who helped with our early check in and making us feel welcome, and same with checking out and offering to hold our luggage for the day. There was also a free mini bar included and roof windows for ventilation. The location is excellent with the louvre only 10 minutes away and lots of cafes and restaurants surrounding it. All for a very reasonable price too. Would definitely recommend.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The location was extremely convenient for our itinerary. Most major attractions, including the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, and the Pantheon, were around €15 by Uber, while the Louvre and Palais Garnier were within walking distance.
The atmosphere of the hotel was comfortable and relaxing. We stayed in a deluxe room, which offered enough space even though we had an extra suitcase for our pre-wedding photoshoot, including a wedding gown and evening dresses. Considering the price, the amenities were very satisfactory, including the hairdryer and WiFi. The room was also very clean, and we did not experience any noise issues during our stay.
The highlight, however, was the hotel staff. They were extremely helpful, kind, and responsive throughout our stay. They were also willing to assist us via WhatsApp, which made communication much easier and removed any language barrier. This was especially valuable, as communication in French had been one of the more challenging parts of our trip.
Overall, I would certainly choose this hotel again if I return.

We stayed at this hotel for nine nights and had a wonderful experience. The location is excellent, making it easy to get around. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help.
Although the room was on the smaller side, it was well decorated, spotless, and very comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
The only minor downside was that the soundproofing could have been better. Our room was close to the elevator, so we could occasionally hear it, as well as some light noise from the neighboring room. However, it was never disruptive or enough to affect our stay.
Overall, we were very happy with this hotel and would definitely choose to stay here again.

Stay away! Mold, they give your room key to anyone, and they sneak into your room. We left this hotel three nights early and moved to another hotel in the middle of our trip. Here is why.
1) The front desk requires you to hand in your room key every time you leave the building, and they do not check who collects it. We tested this. We went to the desk and asked for the key to a room that was not ours. They handed it over. No ID was asked for, no name, no verification of any kind.
2) Also, we hung the do-not-disturb sign on our door and went out. When we came back, staff had been inside. The room had not been cleaned. A towel that had been on the floor had been picked up; someone had crossed the room to the patio, opened the window, and extended the patio awning. Our belongings were out in the open the whole time.
We raised it at the front desk. We were told the hotel enters rooms regardless of the do-not-disturb sign. We asked to see that policy in writing. Nothing was produced. It is not posted in the room, it was not mentioned at check-in, and there is nothing about it on their website or in their FAQ.
3) There was mold throughout the bathroom, on the clothesline hanger, and a slight smell.
We gave up the last three nights of our booking, in peak August, and moved out.
Location is great though.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Le Clément in Paris! As a family of three, having two separate rooms—one for my wife and me and one for our daughter—space is luxurious in Paris. The extra space made our trip incredibly comfortable.
The location couldn’t be better. We were right in the middle of everything, with cafés, shops, and major sights all within a short walk. It made exploring the city effortless and fun.
A special shoutout to the amazing staff—everyone was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Their kindness added so much to the experience.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and great service in Paris. We can’t wait to come back!

If you don't mind a few inconveniences, Hotel le Clement is a great 2 star find in the 6th arrondissement in the St. Germaine area. The rooms are small with only soap as an amenity and while there is a small elevator, it is more suitable for luggage. There is a winding staircase for the 6 floors.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms, many of which overlook the church of St. Suplice, are cleaned daily. The lobby area is warm and welcoming and a nice place for an afternoon respite. A breakfast is served at additional cost.
The location is great with shops, bars, cafes, patisserie and grocery store within a few steps of the hotel. We have stayed here during both visits to Paris and definitely recommend this charming, family owned hotel.

I had the pleasure of staying at this residence for a year and a half, and my experience was perfect from beginning to end. The residence's central location allowed me to fully enjoy everything the city has to offer, with iconic landmarks, shops, and restaurants just steps away.
The residence staff played a crucial role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Their professionalism and kindness contributed to making my stay enjoyable and stress-free. They were always available to answer my questions and ensure everything was perfect.
The residence facilities were impeccable. My room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, providing a comfortable space where I felt right at home. I did experience a few toilet leaks, and each time, the issue was resolved very efficiently!
Security was clearly a priority. I always had peace of mind thanks to the security systems in place.
I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality accommodation!

I lived in this residence for a year while studying at university. I had a very pleasant year there.
The room, renovated before my arrival, was bright and functional. The residence is located in a lovely neighborhood, close to Les Halles, the Louvre, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF). This allowed me to fully enjoy the city's heritage and the Parisian lifestyle.
Furthermore, the staff is charming, welcoming, and always attentive. During the year, I encountered a few minor issues with my room, and they were always very quick to resolve them.
I highly recommend this residence to anyone looking for well-located and well-maintained accommodation in the capital.

I moved out of my apartment a little while ago and I have fond memories of it, so I thought I'd leave a review! First of all, a big thank you to the concierge, who is a kind, pleasant, and caring lady—I wanted to emphasize that because it's so nice to hear! I didn't have much contact with the building manager, but he was always smiling, and my interactions with the neighbors were also very pleasant. The location is obviously fantastic; it's very convenient, the place is clean, and it's regularly inspected. There are common house rules to follow (written down, but in my opinion, they should be obvious to everyone), which makes it a consistently calm and peaceful place. I had a wonderful year, and this apartment allowed me to continue my work in good conditions and, in a way, saved my studies, so I'm very grateful! I think it's good to highlight the positive experiences and reciprocate kindness—in short, as you can tell, I highly recommend it!

Tips for Booking a Budget Hotel in the 7th Arrondissement
Securing a great rate in this prestigious district requires a bit of strategy and flexibility. The Parisian hotel market fluctuates wildly based on fashion weeks, trade shows, and school holidays, so timing is everything. By following a few insider tips, you can maximize your comfort while minimizing your nightly rate.
Travel in the Off-Season or Shoulder Season
Paris is beautiful year-round, but the prices in July and August can be surprisingly high due to summer tourism, while December sees a spike for the holidays. The best value is often found in January, February, and November. You will face fewer crowds at the museum and find rates that are significantly lower than peak spring or autumn months.

While third-party aggregators are great for research, the best rate is often found on the hotel’s own website. Many independent budget hotels offer a "best price guarantee" or a free breakfast incentive for direct bookings. It also allows you to communicate specific requests, such as a quiet courtyard room, directly with the reception staff.
Prioritize Proximity to the RER C Line
The Musée d’Orsay has its own dedicated RER C station right outside the door. If you find a hotel slightly further away but near a stop on this line, such as Pont de l’Alma or Javel, you can access the museum in minutes. This widens your search radius and can unlock cheaper rates just outside the immediate museum perimeter.
Check for "Cabine" or Courtyard Rooms
Many historic buildings have two types of rooms: those facing the street and those facing the interior courtyard. Street-facing rooms often feature beautiful balconies but suffer from traffic noise. Courtyard rooms, sometimes called "cabine" rooms, are quieter and often priced lower due to the lack of a view. If you plan to be out exploring all day, a quiet, cheaper courtyard room is a smart trade-off.
Look for Included Amenities
A lower nightly rate can be deceptive if you have to pay 15 euros per person for breakfast. Look for hotels that offer a simple continental breakfast included in the rate, or those that provide free coffee and tea in the lobby all day. Some budget hotels also have partnerships with local laundromats or offer free luggage storage, which adds practical value to your stay.
Choosing to stay near the Musée d’Orsay positions you perfectly to beat the morning queues and enjoy the Impressionist galleries before the midday rush. You can easily return to your room for a midday rest before heading out to explore the Marais or Montmartre in the evening.
With careful planning and the right expectations, a budget hotel in this district offers one of the best value propositions in Paris. You are paying for the privilege of walking out your door and immediately being immersed in the art, history, and romance of the Left Bank.
