12 Best Hotels near Notre-Dame de Paris

Standing in the shadow of Notre-Dame de Paris is an experience that stays with you long after you leave the Île de la Cité. As the symbolic heart of France, this Gothic masterpiece anchors the city’s geography, history, and imagination. For travelers, securing a stay within walking distance of its famed rose windows and flying buttresses transforms a standard Parisian trip into something far more immersive.

The area surrounding the cathedral, spanning the 4th and 5th arrondissements, offers one of the most enchanting bases for exploring the capital. Here, the River Seine curves gently past historic booksellers, while the narrow lanes of the Latin Quarter buzz with bistros and bookshops. Choosing the right hotel in this district means trading the impersonal sprawl of modern Paris for a neighborhood defined by cobblestones, culture, and convenience.

Accommodation near Notre-Dame ranges from opulent palace hotels with sweeping river views to intimate boutique hideaways tucked behind centuries-old facades. Because this is one of the most sought-after locations in the city, understanding the nuances of each property is essential. The best options balance proximity to the cathedral with comfort, service, and a distinct sense of place.

Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning to witness the cathedral’s ongoing restoration, your hotel should enhance the pilgrimage. The right room can offer a view of the spire glinting in the morning light or provide a quiet courtyard escape after a day of sightseeing. Practical considerations such as metro access, noise levels, and room size matter greatly in these historic buildings.

This guide is curated with a focus on genuine guest experience, architectural character, and location value. Each recommendation has been selected for its ability to deliver a memorable stay while keeping you steps away from the cathedral, Sainte-Chapelle, and the Marais. We prioritize properties that consistently earn high marks for cleanliness, staff responsiveness, and authentic Parisian charm.

From luxury travelers seeking five-star pampering to budget-conscious explorers who want a stylish yet affordable room, there is a perfect match here. We had a great stay at Hôtel Quartier Latin. The hotel was clean and well maintained which made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The location is excellent and very central making it easy to explore Paris. Getting around was simple because both Uber and public transportation were easily accessible. We were able to reach all the major attractions quickly and without any problems. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. They were always happy to answer questions and made us feel well looked after. Overall we would definitely recommend Hôtel Quartier Latin to anyone looking for a clean hotel with a fantastic location and excellent service.

We stayed one night at Hotel Quartier Latin in Paris and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and functional, with everything we needed for a short stay. However, the real Star of the show was Paul. His service elevated our stay from good to truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, he was warm, charismatic, and genuinely interested in helping us make the most of our time in Paris. What impressed us most was how personalised his advice was. Rather than giving generic tourist recommendations, he took the time to understand our music tastes and suggested places to visit for the Fête de la Musique that matched our preferences perfectly. He also provided detailed guidance on travel routes, timings, and how to navigate the city efficiently, which made our plans much easier. Paul's enthusiasm, local knowledge, and exceptional hospitality made us feel genuinely welcomed. Staff like him are rare and can make all the difference to a guest's experience. Thank you, Paul, for making our visit so special. We would happily stay here again.

This hotel had friendly staff, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed, and the location was good (close to notre dame and metro). The only complaint was I wish they provided a few more towels. Would recommend and go back!

Extremely Disappointing — Would Not Recommend Horrible experience. The room we were given was dirty, neglected, and nothing like the photos online. The front desk employee was unpleasant and at times outright rude. We booked this hotel based on many positive reviews, but our room was filthy, with multiple holes in the walls, bathroom tiles that were broken and falling off, and several other general maintenance issues. The issue was not the age of the building or the size of the room — we fully understand what to expect in Europe. The problem was the lack of basic cleanliness and upkeep. We raised our concerns with the front desk. She told us to wait in the room while she looked into options. After about half an hour, she called to say that although other rooms were available, they would not be offering us a different one as they are all the same. She dismissed our concerns by saying “it’s Europe,” which had nothing to do with the issues we reported. Even though we had paid for multiple nights, we left immediately and booked another hotel at our own expense. It was the only reasonable option given the condition of the room. The location is good, but that doesn’t make up for the inability to sleep comfortably or stay in a clean, maintained space. Based on our experience, I would not recommend booking this hotel.

We only stayed one night to prepare for our flight back to NY. Hotel was okay for a shorter stay. No dresser in room and room was a bit small. Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful.

If you are from the US and know the travelodge or motel6 brand, this hotel is similar. The rooms are not sanitary. We got two rooms, one on Floor 6 and one on Floor7. There were ants in the room on Floor7. We told the front desk about it and they said they would clean it up and there were ants still everyday. So we couldn’t bring any food or drinks up to our room in case we’d get infested. On Floor6, the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed since the last person as there were toe nail clippings all over the carpet. There were mold issues in the rooms. My husband got hives from sleeping on the bed, unsure if that’s from bed bugs but possibly. Why stay here? If you are on a budget, need to get multiple rooms (we had 3) and staying for many days, then this makes sense. There was no hot water for showers the entire time. So hopefully you go in a heatwave. Some decent things- it’s safe, friendly staff, nice to get the breakfast included, close to many restaurants and sites, air conditioning was great, view of Eiffel Tower from the room. I recommend getting the deluxe suite, it was a decent size.

Don't let the 2 stars freighten you. This hotel is soo good. After a very inconvenient experience at the Ibis budget hotel, me and my friend had to find an immediate solution and book a new hotel. The only one within our price range and good accessibility was this one and let me tell you, we should have booked it first. We had to book it the same day of arrival so you can guess how stressful it all was, but as soon as we arrived in this hotel we were greeted by the amazing and nice guy at the reception. We loved every single detail especially since it brought us back in time with the beautiful elevator. The room(bathroom as well) and halls are small, but it's Paris so it's part of the experience. Everything was clean and new, the view was amazing, there was hot water, good Wi-Fi and the best part was the amazing location. Notre Dame is 10 minutes away on foot, there are many local restaurants and cafés nearby, markets open late in the night and many cute bookstores. If you want the best stay in Paris, then this is for you. When I come back in Paris again, this will be my choice 100%.😊

Affordable hotel in a fantastic location with everything you might need within walking distance on a safe and quiet street. The breakfast was surprisingly good with plenty of options and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and could communicate in English. Clean room, hot water and working AC. The room even had a French balcony with views of the Eiffel Tower in the distance which was a very nice surprise. Only complaint is that the room was very small, especially the bed which barely fit two people. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for an affordable option in the 6th!

I recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, I loved the vintage vibe and what is great about it, is the location, you have everything near, and if not, you’re very close to the metro lines that take you directly to the wished places. Although it was a nice stay, in the last day I noticed a good amount of ants on the floor (mind you the floor is fully covered with a carpet), and that was not very nice, thankfully I didn’t notice on the first day otherwise I would go insane. Other then that everything else was nice, just inspect your room right from the start. The staff would clean the room everyday - not sure if they thoroughly cleaned it but we would always find everything nicely folded.
Nextbiteoflife Expats In Spain★★★☆☆
It's exactly what it says it is - A two star hotel. It's in a five star location however. The rooms are tired, clean, but the layout is funky. We had the double room but it requires climbing over my husband to get up from the bed. Forget about watching tv if you don't speak French, and you bump your head into it often. Every staff member we interacted with was fantastic. There is a tiny elevator but we are used to that in Spain so no big deal. We spent five nights, and for what we paid, I expected more, even if it's Paris.

I had an amazing 4-night stay at Les Bulles de Paris. I was lucky enough to get a room with a beautiful view of the Panthéon, which made the experience even more special. The location is fantastic—bus stops and metro stations are just a short walk away, making it easy to explore Paris. It's also within walking distance of the Latin Quarter, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and many other attractions. Having Maison bakery nearby was a huge bonus for fresh pastries and coffee every morning. The hotel was always clean, comfortable, and well maintained. What truly made this stay exceptional was the front desk team. A special thanks to Hossum, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable about local restaurants. Every recommendation he gave was excellent—you won't be disappointed if you take his advice. Diane was wonderful as well and helped us with our booking, making everything smooth and stress-free. taher was also friendly and helpful throughout our stay. One personal tip: book directly through the hotel's website. You'll thank me later! I would absolutely stay at Les Bulles de Paris again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable hotel in a perfect Paris location with outstanding customer service.

Had a great 10-day stay here in Paris. Location was great, I've walked around Paris a lot during this time and I was very happy with where we stayed. Its quiet and close to all the major landmarks. Upon arrival we got upgraded to a bigger room with a bigger bed (they said it was their biggest room). This was awesome and probably made our trip because I don't think we would've slept too well in a double bed. Got a bit confused with the breakfast option. Both mine and my wife's understanding was that the breakfast place in front of reception was 12 euro as the receptionist pointed to the sign they had with this price and then to that room. Turns out it was actually 22 euro instead. Fortunately we did not eat there every day and had we known we would've eaten there even less. It was good enough, but not too worth it for us since my wife barely eats in the morning. Lastly, one of the receptionist also had a strange reaction when I told her what eastern european country I am originally from (we were talking about my name origin). It kind of made me self conscious the rest of the trip to mention it to anyone once I learned that my people do not have the best reputation here haha. I didn't know this cause I lived in Canada most of my life. Anyway even with all of this, keeping it a 5 star because the upgrade was nice and I liked it overall.

This hotel is lovely, yes rooms are a litte compact, but has everything you need in them. Staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. It is ideally situated in the latin quarter, less than 5 minute walk to the metro or a 10 minute walk to Notre- dame
Tara Vallender★★★★★
A lovely hotel that I would recommend. Staff were very helpful with any questions I had. The whats app communication was very useful as they would let me know when my room was ready and I could ask questions which would be answered quickly. The location was great, not far from Gardens de Luxembourg and just round the corner from the Notre Dame bus stop for the Tootoot bus which I used to get around before 7:30pm. The only problem I had was the noise outside my room one night when I needed to be up early the following morning for a coach trip - I realised there were bar tables outside my door used for the bar round the corner as I was on the ground floor. Saying that, if I did go to Paris again I would still stay in this hotel.

5⭐️I booked a room at Les Boules de Paris in Paris for my mother, and she was absolutely delighted with her stay. Everything met her expectations, and she felt very comfortable throughout. A special thank you to Diana Orlova at the reception. She was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional, and she helped my mother with all her questions and needs. We truly appreciate her support and care. We are very grateful and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Great location and reasonable price of this place helped me to make a choice. Hotel is located in the Latin quarter, safe place, and is literally within a 10-minute walking distance of Notre dame de Paris and Pantheon. Close to Shakespeare books store, Luxembourg garden. It is surrounded by the restaurants, boutiques and bakeries. Everything is in walking distance, including metro station, 7 and 10. Staff was friendly, except one man at checkout. Breakfast cost extra, but we didn't need it, so many options outside. Room was on the 6th floor with a view towards Notre dame de Paris. Elevator can only fit two people, but worked perfectly. Room was clean, very small, bathroom was very narrow and tiny, but there was a working ac unit, which was a huge plus in the middle of the summer and heat. If I would stay here again, I would. We stayed 2 nights in July and prices were bit higher.
Laura Crites★★★★☆
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in June. We were delighted that we had a room on the 6th floor facing Notre-Dame Cathedral. Pros: easy access to the subway, and walking distance to tourist destinations, the air conditioner was good but didn’t get as cold as we would have liked, beds were comfy. Cons: the bathroom was very small (if you are a tall person you may have a hard time using the toilet and shower). When we checked-in we were sleep deprived and jet lagged and would have appreciated if the front desk staff could have been more welcoming and patient. Overall we would stay here again.
Ellie Hignett★★★★★
Perfect hotel. Close to transport links. Quiet enough to sleep at night. Tea and coffee provided. Lovely lady on front desk. You're able to store your luggage on check out day. Wouldn't hesitate to come back!
Jelly Tree★★★★★
Great location. We got the room at the top floor and the views were amazing. You can even see Notre Dame on a clear day. The beds were fine, the bathroom was perfect. The room was cozy. There was a little visitor on our balcony but we didn't mind him.
Donna Genge★★★★☆
The location is perfect, easy walk to several favorite locations in Paris and close to the train. Rooms are small but fine for a few days. The bathroom in our room was tight had to turn sideways to get past the sink and wall to get to the toilet. The rooms have different setups so not all like this. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend 👌

This is a 3 star hotel, and I think it stops at that. All the listings in Expedia show their very best room (naturally) with big windows and great views. Things are different when you get there, our room wasn’t much bigger than a walk-in closet. The bathroom was built into the room with 1 inch thick plywood at best and a dinky sliding door that wouldn’t stay shut. Where this place shines is the location, which is beyond prime. You literally see notre dame from the window and are staying on the very same block - I would stay there again just for that reason. The room was clean, staff was nice, but it was no luxury hotel.
Chad Dulac★★★★★
Cozy, rustic, and classic with an urban twist. This 400+ year old building is nestled in the heart of Paris and has all the quirks and comforts of a city hotel. Everything we wanted was within walking distance and it was a great base for our hop on hop off tours. Each themed room had classial painting prints on the walls, the floors had cobblestone patterned carpets and even the faucets had knots from the 1920's. Everywhere you went there was a breathtaking view of Paris, and of course, Notre Dame. We paid for a cathedral view and was not disappointed!! Wow! The continental breakfast of pastries (croissants), tea and coffee were straight out of a travel brochure, and the staff were the heroes of our entire experience. Friendly to foreigners with patience for English speaking guests. Courteous and always smiling. Staffed 24hrs a day. The only downside (if I had to say anything) was the ongoing traffic noise and sirens from the proximity to downtown. We understood this going in and the windows do a fair job of muting most of it. Also, the walls are thin so we could hear movements in the other rooms and downstairs. Nothing so bad it would take off a star, just a polite heads up to future guests so you can manage expectations.
Jerry Geng★★★☆☆
The hotel has a very convenient location, with both Metro and RER stations nearby, making it easy to get around Paris. The staff members were also very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, there are several practical issues worth noting. The reception is located on the first floor, and there is no elevator from the ground floor to reach it, only stairs. This could be inconvenient if you are traveling with large luggage or require accessible access. In our case, the bathroom was a major drawback. Our toilet does NOT have a DOOR, and the chain door lock on the main door was also broken. I’m not sure if this applies to all rooms, but it genuinely affected our experience. Another point to be aware of is that you are required to leave your room key at reception whenever you leave the hotel. Overall, while the location and staff are definite positives, the room design and accessibility issues may not suit all travelers.
Lee Tedstone★★★★★
We had a fantastic stay here and would happily return. The location really couldn’t be better — right beside Notre Dame Cathedral and in the heart of the Latin Quarter, which made exploring Paris on foot incredibly easy and enjoyable. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made the stay feel relaxed and personal rather than transactional. A lovely bonus is the beautiful café next door. My wife is coeliac, and we were delighted to find a great range of gluten-free pastries available — something that can be surprisingly hard to come by when travelling. It made our mornings that much better. Overall, a great place to stay with a brilliant location, warm hospitality, and thoughtful touches. We would absolutely stay here again.
John Hunsley★★★☆☆
An amazing location with great views on Notre Dame, which also means rather noisy at night. That was to be expected. What wasn't expected was having hotel staff enter our room without knocking around 11:00 pm. Despite apologies and claims it was a computer error, we were not given an explanation for why staff would enter our room at night and the hotel did not contact us to follow up. As a result, we can't recommend staying here.

This place small as all rooms in Paris however clean. Cleaning services perfect. I was amazed about the clean room for a 1 star hotel. Not suitable for a couple as the room is very small. However that's Paris shitty accomodations everywhere.

Stayed here for the first time I went to paris with my family and it was pretty comfortable. Rooms are a bit small but great pricing and location.
Anastasiia Gonzales★★★★☆
We’ve stayed there for one night. The best option I was able to find for this money. I would say it’s perfect for short stay, just to sleep and take shower, what else you need in Paris? Location is great, transport is near. Yes, the street is buzzy, but we were so tired that we didn’t care. It wasn’t hot, so we didn’t even need AC, but if you come during hot summer days that might be a problem for you. Sheets are clean, room is clean. Definitely needs some renovation but it’s not a big deal. Pretty weird was that we needed to leave a key when we went out but I didn’t worry as we didn’t have any valuables with us. Reception is friendly and welcoming. Some nice restaurants and bakeries around. If I come to Paris again, I’ll definitely stay there.

We loved it here! Paid for an upgrade to get a room with our own balcony and it was beautiful. The view was wonderful, bed was comfy, and it was spacious enough. Helpful concierge, clean, convenient and loved the 12pm checkout time.

Adorable hotel and staff, warm welcome and a free Espresso upon arrival. I had a nice double room in the 5th floor with small balcony. Huge bathrom for Paris though, delicious breakfast with eggs, omelette upon request. The quartier latin is the best area to stay, within walking distance so many cafes, restaurants, 10 min walk to Notre Dame! I love this small and typical hotel style, it's Paris how it used and has to be 🙂 MERCI beaucoup Yana, and the 2 two Monsieurs form night service, you are kind hosts.

Had the perfect stay at hotel. Do college de France. Our room was wonderful and air-conditioned. Yes, a little small but we were prepared from other reviews. We couldn't have been happier with the service, location, breakfast, everything. When I needed help calling the palace of Versailles over some ticket issues. Yana came to the rescue with a phone and helped me in my time of need. We will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone we know coming to Paris.

We loved the atmosphere and the service of this hotel. We came here with friends, and enjoyed every minute of the stay. The location is very calm and quiet at night. Really happy with this hotel. The welcome was excellent and our room ready earlier than expected. Room was clean, tidy, super cool. The downstairs is interesting and quite different! Location right in the middle of things. Yana and Nikita on reception were very helpful and friendly.

Loved it! The position of the hotel is great. Calm, peaceful but yet really easy to get to anywhere in the city. The rooms are very quiet. Because it is on an island, there is little traffic. The breakfast was amazing. You order your food, rather than it being a buffet and everything is freshly made for you using local ingredients. The staff were some of the most friendly I have come across and very helpful. They also have afternoon tea with homemade cake in the afternoon, which looked lovely but we didn't try.

We had a wonderful stay at this cute, small hotel located on Ile Saint Louis. The location is perfect for Paris as it is close to everything (Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, Marias, Saint Chapelle, and multiple Metro stops) and yet feels quieter than any other Paris area since it is on the small island right beside Notre Dame. While the rooms are somewhat small and there is not a lot of storage space in the rooms, neither of those issues took away from an otherwise excellent stay. Staff was friendly, professional and very helpful and the breakfast, albeit a somewhat limited menu, was delicious! Great air conditioning too which came in handy as the weather was a little unexpectedly warm. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

A great find in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood, well within walking distance of major Paris attractions. We stayed for a couple of nights and found the Ile Saint-Louse a perfect base for enjoying sites like Notre Dame and the Louvre. The island has a quiet, welcoming vibe, and the same goes for the hotel. This is a boutique hotel, and the unique decor, old building, and not least incredibly welcoming staff, make for a great experience. Being in an old building means that rooms lean toward small and cozy, so if you are on the larger side or require a lot of floor space, this probably isn't for you. That is literally the only, and very minor, thing I can think of as a detractor. I would definitely recommend it, and would be more than happy to stay here again.
Bunker Blake★★★★★
Hôtel Des Deux-Iles was one of the most appealing places I have stayed in Paris. Set on Île Saint-Louis, it felt quiet, intimate, and almost village-like despite sitting in the center of the city. We could reach everything we wanted while returning each evening to a part of Paris that felt local and remarkably calm. The hotel itself was cozy, welcoming, and clearly well cared for. Our room was European in scale, meaning compact rather than expansive, but it was exceptionally clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the simplicity felt especially restorative after long days of touring. Outside the hotel, the island was filled with small shops, cafés, and an excellent brasserie that looked like the original blueprint for New York restaurants such as Pastis and Balthazar. Notre-Dame was open during our visit, before the fire, and its proximity made the neighborhood's history feel especially immediate. Now that the cathedral has reopened, this location is even easier to recommend. I would gladly stay in this part of Paris again.
Barbara G★★☆☆☆
I was excited to stay here because of the location. The hotel has a charming lobby but my room was horrible. Historic or not it it was dated and small. Some of the furniture was kid size. The bed was comfortable but it was hard to open the curtains because the building across the way could see in. With the curtains closed the room was dark and the lighting poor. The bathroom was tiny and the shower also tiny. It would have been ok but the hand held shower head was cheap so if you used it as an overhead shower, water sprayed everywhere. The only redeeming part of the bathroom was a heated towel rack. The breakfast was in a basement room but it had charming decor. The menu was the same everyday and the server had to bring you everything: coffee, bread, yogurt, eggs etc and one morning it was so hectic that 3 people were running around and it was hard to get served. Yes, it’s on Ile St Louis which is a cute street with bunches of tourists moving about. I think the hotel is upcharging due to Notre Dame Cathedral being around the corner. For 3 nights I paid over 1200 euro which was way over priced for the accommodation. I wouldn’t rate it even as a 3 star. I was solo and I can’t imagine another person in the room with me, there would be no place for luggage. Such a shame that they take advantage. No I will not stay there again, I go to Paris ever year and this is by far the worst hotel that I have stayed for the price.

My wife and I are from North Carolina and we stayed here about 15 years ago the first time we visited Paris and loved it, and we came back last week with our two kids and it was even better than we remembered it. Friendly staff, clean rooms, an ideal location, a lovely breakfast, and comfortable beds. Next time we come back to Paris, the easiest decision we will make is where to stay overnight. It was perfect.

Wonderful little stay, was lovely to turn up and found we had an upgrade. Room was a good size overlooking the street. But the double glazing was good so wasn't disturbed at all. Beds are big and super comfy too. Location was spot on for exploring Les Marias and the left bank and only a few minutes walk from Notre dame. Street itself had some Greta little shops, restaurants and a Cheese Museum which I have to try on next visit. Service was just as you would expect friendly and helpful , from taking up bags to room when we arrives early to every time we had to interact with them. Love the complimentary afternoon tea and cake. And the Cremerie opposite Oh breakfast , small selection but really good quality and was perfect for us Overall a lovely little hotel which I would love to come again.

Absolutely the best hotel for a first trip to Paris! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and taken care of. Wonderful hospitality and a beautiful experience we will always remember. Thank you, Elie! We will definitely be back! 🇫🇷❤️

A little gem tugged away in a narrow street sprinkled with artisan shops and a stone throw away from Notre Dame. We really enjoyed our stay and especially loved the delicious breakfast. The rooms were very inviting and beautifully decorated. A small issue with the heating upon arrival was solved quickly. The staff was always at hand to help us with any of our questions. Overall a great experience and we highly recommend it.

Perfect location and price. The front desk attendees Jamal and Matthias were so very helpful and kind which added the perfect touch to our trip. We dropped a glass in our bathroom and Jamal personally swept it up and made sure we were safe. He even gave us slippers just in case and checked in with us the next morning. Matthias was super helpful with our check in and flagging us a taxi. It was 5 star service and we were very happy to have piping cold ac during the heat wave.

If you're looking for a clean, safe and central located hotel, this is the place. It's a 50m walk to the closest metro station, within 10 min of five of the major tourist spots in Paris. The only thing we had to travel to was the Eiffel tower and the Arc de Triomphe via train so our stay was exquisite. We stayed in the top floor suite which was absolutely worth the cost. AC was functional if not the strongest and the jets in the tub didn't work but other than that our stay was excellent. I would highly recommend staying here, the staff was extremely pleasant, helpful and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Location of this hotel is excellent for touring Paris. However it is located in a busy area of the Latin Quarter and the noise from the cafes below is clearly heard in the room. Windows are old and not soundproofed. Bring earplugs. Bathtub in our room was relatively deep, a handrail would be appreciated for safety purposes. Front desk staff did their best to solve and account for problems with check in (rooms not ready) and broken air conditioning.

Pictures online are very deceiving compared to the room we actually got. Our bed was about two feet from the sink and shower. There was no dividing wall. Luckily the toilet had its own private space. Cleanliness is terrible as there was dust on a lot of tables. I ended up wiping everything down on my own, including the floor. Our shower looked like it had mold too. The reception area was full of clutter - boxes and boxes stacked on the table behind the desk. It was a very tight space for checking in with other people. Although the location is great, I would not recommend this hotel for the price I paid.

While this might be a 3 star hotel, we had a 5 star experience. I booked the "superior" room with balcony as a birthday surprise for my wife. And it was perfect! We were on the 5th floor and looked down on the plaza below which was busy with activity each night, and several nights we enjoyed cheese, susauge, bread and wine while watching the activity below. The room was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed their buffet breakfast several of the days we stayed there. The location of this hotel couldn't be any better. It is literally two minutes to the Metro, and 20 minutes to the Louvre. Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle and the Conciergerie are even closer. A dozen restaurants are reachable within a three minute walk. We loved this place and definitely would stay here again.

Stayed in the triple privilege room with my two friends. What an amazing experience! Everyone was so kind and helpful. Our flight was delayed a full 24 hours :(, but the staff at this hotel rebooked our ride from the airport without trouble AND had a bottle of champagne waiting for us in our room once we made it there. The air conditioning is GREAT. The showers are great. Very nice hotel. There is so much character, which I love! This is a wonderful hotel, and a friend and I have already booked to return and stay at this hotel this June. 🙂

Stayed here last night and I cannot complain. We arrived close to midnight and the staff were welcoming and polite. The rooms are nice, clean and quirky. The AC and WiFi always helps! Whilst the balcony is small there is enough space for a couple of people to stand and enjoy the view. In terms of location it is only a 10 min walk from Notre Dam, which is not far from the Lourve.

Just got back from Hotel & Spa Saint-Jacques in Paris and it was a real find. Our room had so much character — yes, on the smaller side, but every inch was thoughtfully used and well equipped, so nothing felt missing. The highlight for me was the little balcony — having breakfast out there coffee in hand, watching the street wake up below, was the perfect start to a day of walking the city. After hours on your feet exploring Paris, the spa was an absolute lifesaver. A proper soak and steam to recover before heading back out (or just collapsing happily into bed) made a huge difference. Atmospheric, cozy, well-located, and just the right mix of charm and comfort. Five stars all the way!

A stone’s throw from the Metro station, Notre Dame, and the Pantheon. The hotel offers comfortable, beautiful, air‑conditioned rooms. Excellent breakfast. The staff is kind and always smiling. Highly recommended.

This was my first time visiting Paris, and I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The hotel was beautiful, the room was charming and spotless, and the breakfast was amazing. What made the experience even more special was the staff, everyone was so friendly, warm, and welcoming. They always took the time to greet us and make us feel special. Staying here gave me such wonderful memories of Paris, and I already miss it so much. I can’t wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Paris Art Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff were super friendly, welcoming and genuinely helpful, which made us feel very comfortable. The location is excellent, with many of the Latin Quarter’s main attractions within easy walking distance, including the Panthéon, Notre-Dame and the Seine. Our room was clean, comfortable and more than suitable for a short stay. The hotel has a small lift, which can get quite busy at peak times, so be prepared for a little wait. If you’re on a tight schedule, particularly heading to the airport, it’s worth allowing some extra time. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would happily return. A charming hotel in a great location with a very friendly team.

Paris Art Hotel is an AMAZING PLACE to stay at in Latin quarter. It is easily accessible, near a lot of food and transportation hubs and the best part is the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Kindest people I’ve come across my travels. They also gave us the room with a balcony and the view of sunset is wonderful in the evenings. If you’re looking for a quiet little hotel with best facilities and a good location, I highly recommend this place. Thank you Paris Art Hotel for a truly wonderful experience! 😃✨🤩

Really enjoyed my stay..extrmely helpful staff. AC worked wonderfully through several days of record heat. Elevator in good running order. Room very much updated and extremely clean. Great location for restaurants, services and transportation to anywhere in Paris. .

We absolutely loved our stay in this hotel. It is a wonderful location in the Latin Quarter, with many food choices nearby and easy access to public transportation. All of the staff we encountered were so kind and helpful, from check-in to housekeeping to the kitchen to front desk staff helping us with transportation ideas. We took advantage of the on-site breakfast two of the days, it was very delicious and convenient. I would stay here again and I highly recommend it.

This was a lovely hotel in a wonderful, centrally-located neighborhood. We could easily walk to many key locations, and the metro was close and convenient as well. The staff was helpful and accommodating (especially Robin at the front desk, who gave us great local recommendations and always made sure to check in and chat with us on our way in and out!). Our room was clean and the air conditioning worked well, and there were lots of restaurants and shops nearby. I would highly recommend staying at Paris Art Hotel!

Tips for Choosing the Best Hotel Near Notre-Dame

Finding the perfect hotel in this historic district requires balancing romance with practicality. The area’s medieval street layout means buildings often lack elevators, rooms can be compact, and street noise varies dramatically by block. Use these expert tips to ensure your stay is as comfortable as it is picturesque.

Book well in advance for river-view rooms. Properties directly facing the Seine or offering a clear sightline to Notre-Dame are extremely limited. These premium rooms sell out months ahead, especially during spring and autumn. If a view of the cathedral is non-negotiable, reserve early and confirm the exact room category with the hotel directly.

Check for elevator access and luggage assistance. Many charming boutique hotels occupy 17th- and 18th-century buildings without modern lifts. If you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns, filter for properties with elevators or request a lower-floor room. A hotel’s willingness to help with bags can make a significant difference on a cobblestone street.

Consider noise levels versus centrality. Hotels directly on the Quai de Montebello or Rue Saint-Jacques offer unbeatable proximity but can be noisy at night. If you are a light sleeper, choose a room facing an interior courtyard or a property on a quieter side street like Rue des Bernardins. You will still be minutes from the cathedral without the late-night street clamor.

Look for included breakfast or nearby boulangerie options. Hotel breakfasts in this district can be expensive. Before booking, check if breakfast is included or reasonably priced. Alternatively, staying near Rue Mouffetard or the Latin Quarter gives you access to excellent local bakeries where a fresh croissant and coffee cost a fraction of hotel prices.

Use public transport connections wisely. The Saint-Michel and Cité metro stations serve the area exceptionally well. Staying within a five-minute walk of either station connects you directly to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Montmartre. If you plan to explore beyond central Paris, prioritize hotels near the RER B line for easy airport access.

The area around Notre-Dame rewards travelers who value atmosphere over chain-hotel uniformity. Even a modest room here places you at the doorstep of Shakespeare and Company, the Conciergerie, and some of the finest crêperies in Paris. The trade-off in room size is almost always worth the unmatched sense of place.

Ultimately, the best hotel is the one that aligns with how you want to experience Paris. Whether you wake to the bells of Notre-Dame or slip out at dawn for a quiet walk along the Seine, staying in this neighborhood offers a rare intimacy with the city’s soul. Choose wisely, book early, and prepare to fall under the spell of the Île de la Cité.
