12 Affordable Places to Eat near the Arc de Triomphe

Standing at the base of the Arc de Triomphe, with the chaotic swirl of Parisian traffic circling the Étoile, it is easy to assume that every nearby restaurant must be overpriced and designed strictly for tourists. The grand boulevards radiating from this monument are lined with brasseries and luxury destinations, but the surrounding residential quarters hold a delicious secret. If you know which side streets to explore, you can find hearty, authentic, and affordable meals just a short stroll from one of the most expensive addresses in Paris.

The key to eating well on a budget in this area is to avoid the terraces with a direct view of the monument. The premium you pay at those tables is for the scenery, not the quality of the cuisine. Instead, wander towards the quieter 17th arrondissement side, or dip into the edges of the 8th and 16th, where office workers and locals dictate the lunch rush. Here, the daily specials are priced for repeat customers, not one-time visitors.

Paris is a city that runs on the "formule" or "menu du jour." This is the golden ticket for budget travelers. Usually offered only at lunchtime, this set menu includes a starter and a main course, or a main course and dessert, for a fixed price that is often half of what you would pay à la carte in the evening. Many of the best affordable spots near the Champs-Élysées rely heavily on this model to feed the local workforce.

While French cuisine is the star, the area around the Arc offers a surprising diversity of international flavors. The nearby business districts have attracted communities from Lebanon, Japan, and Italy, leading to a vibrant mix of cheap eats. You can easily find a freshly rolled sushi platter, a Lebanese mezze spread, or a wood-fired pizza that rivals anything found across the river in the Latin Quarter.

Understanding the rhythm of the neighborhood is crucial for the budget-conscious diner. This is not a late-night dining hub; it is a business district. Restaurants fill up precisely at 12:30 PM with suits and ties, then empty out by 2:00 PM. If you adjust your schedule to eat a large lunch here and a lighter dinner elsewhere, you will save a significant amount of money while experiencing the true pulse of the Right Bank.

Furthermore, the definition of "affordable" in this specific postcode requires context. You will rarely find a three-course meal for ten euros here, as you might in the outer arrondissements. However, finding a high-quality main course for under twenty euros, or a filling sandwich or savory crêpe for under ten, is entirely possible if you know where to look. It is about maximizing value, portion size, and flavor relative to the prestigious location.

This guide focuses on practical, walkable options that deliver excellent quality without the inflated "golden triangle" markup. Whether you need a quick bite before climbing the Arc, a sit-down lunch after shopping on the Champs-Élysées, or a casual dinner that won’t break the bank, these recommendations prioritize your wallet as much as your taste buds. Here are the best budget-friendly spots to refuel near the monument.

Staff in this place provided me with outstanding treatment. It was actually the best treatment of (non French) quests I’ve encountered in France so far. If you combine this wonderful and kind attitude with absolutely delicious food, great selection of good wines, great prices (price-value ratio was very good in general, and an absolute bargain when compared to remainder of Paris), and really good location, you get this place. I don’t think I’ll ever visit Paris again without visiting also this place. I really did love it. Thank you guys for the experience throughout both of my dinners there. Keep it up. This is how hospitality should look. The only point for improvement would be textile napkins instead of the paper ones. But that’s just a preference. Everything else is absolutely perfect as it is right now. Hope to see you soon!

Great place. Wonderful combo meal choice with a starter, main and dessert. We had the tuna rillettes (tuna salad on toast), grandma’s pie (like a shepherd’s pie), with a peach pie for dessert. I also ordered an onion soup which was tasty and my daughter had the hummus and Nutella crepe. The ambience was great, the service was outstanding! Mina and Kika, and the rest of the staff were very nice 😁
Irene Ambler★★★★★
Both waiters Mina and Ibrahim gave us a lovely service. They were both friendly and accommodating. The rib eye steak I had was beatifully done, very tasty and the presentation was good. It was a generous size, tender and juicy steak exactly how I expected it to be. We will be back, for sure! Thank you.

We had an amazing experience! We came with family visiting from Mexico and everything was perfect from start to finish. We enjoyed delicious cocktails and several dishes, all of them excellent. What really made the evening special was the outstanding service. The staff was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made us feel at home the entire time. As a lovely surprise, they even played Mexican music for us, which made our family feel so happy and appreciated. Thank you for such a wonderful evening. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this brasserie to anyone looking for great food, drinks, and exceptional hospitality in Paris!

We had a great lunch there after visiting Arc de Triomphe. 21€ for entrée + plat or plat + dessert. The service was very attentive and food was delicious. Highly recommended!

Amazing atmosphere, amazing food and staff. So kind and funny. We took a burger, cordon bleu and a dessert. The best Pannacotta and food!! (and coming from two Italians!) Come here you will not regret it. Right in front of the Arc de Triomphe 🥰
Amanda B★★★★☆
We only stopped for dessert, but the owner Bernard made me wish we had had a whole meal. He is a wonderful man! Never a dull moment. He took our pictures and made us feel right at home. He didn't even want us to leave. The highlight was President Macron just casually walking by and stopping to take pictures!
Peter Manana★★★★★
Good service is hard to find, but excellent service is rare and Bernard and Alice went above and beyond for us. We requested to sit inside only because it was a little chilly and he went as far as bringing my wife a blanket to cozy up in. The food was better than the service to say the least. Highly recommend, god willing I plan on returning for another lovely meal!
Milica Zivotic★★★★★
Absolutely loved this place! Super friendly staff, charming atmosphere with a view of the Arc de Triomphe, delicious food, and great prices. Highly recommend to everyone!

I enjoyed a very solid lunch here, right next to the Arc de Triomphe. I ordered the Spaghetti alla Napoletana, and the portions were generously sized with beautifully fresh ingredients. The pasta was slightly overcooked for my personal preference, but overall it was a tasty dish. The location is fantastic, offering a lovely view, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive throughout the meal. A great spot for a satisfying lunch in a prime Parisian setting!

Excellent French restaurant with great service and atmosphere! Wife had the last salad on the menu and French pinion soup which were both great! Burger was amazing; tasted like a smash burger in terms of flavor but was larger and more satisfying. The manager came out to check on us and was amazing as well! Staff was attentive and friendly! This restaurant felt a big family hug. Highly recommend!

Walked in with the party of six yesterday and Iri was very accommodating. The service was excellent. The food was great and the portions were huge. The crew was very friendly, accommodating that they took pictures of our group I dealt well with our minimal understanding of French. My daughter wants to go back to try the steak and fries, but we’re trying other restaurants on this visit.
Jean-Francois Montoya★★★★★
Friendly staff, amazing food. Perhaps the most flavorful Onion soup I have had to date. The confit de canard is rich, the potatoes nicely roasted. The boeuf bourguignon, you could serve me just the sauce on a plate with a few baguettes and I would already be quite content. I was hoping to find something in this part of town for recommending to clients, this is going on my list as the star of the arrondissement.

An intimate bistro with fantastic food and great service. We came here twice in the space of one week, and regret not going a third time. Everything was delicious, served in a visually appealing presentation and was clearly made to order with fresh ingredients.
Scott Smith★★★★★
Forgot to add the menus. My favorites are: onion soup, ocean salad, farmhouse chicken, duck confit, and the beef bourguignon, fish and chips are huge.

I was walking near the Champs-Élysées and needed to grab lunch. After a quick search, I ended up finding this amazing spot. The recommendation mentioned it was more of a local place, away from the typical tourist picks — and it totally delivered. I was really pleasantly surprised, not just by how good the food was, but also by the staff, who were absolutely fantastic. Will definitely come back in another opportunity.
Blair Allison★★★★★
Highly recommended!! Fantastic steak; big juicy, tender and €10 cheaper than most of the other places around. Chilled area of the city, good atmosphere. Plus the staff are very friendly, especially with my English speaking and they know their stuff. Thanks team;)
Justin Buley★★★★★
Full of locals, open late, authentic cuisine, great value. Real traditional bistro vibe, nice view of the street. Amazing service: we ordered a wine that we ended up not liking and they worked with us to switch it out to one more suited to our taste. The staff is attentive and friendly. I got the entrecôte with fries and it was a quality cut, generous portion, served with a rich pepper sauce. The fries could use a bit more colour and crisp, but it's a small detail. I'd like to see more vegetarian options beyond pasta; my wife had the same cream and truffles pasta earlier for lunch and even though it was better here, there was no other option for her, and she had to eat the same dish twice in the same day - kind of a bummer when you're travelling and wanting to try new things. Highly recommended for anyone around Arc de Triomphe that doesn't want to fall into a tourist trap! This place is the real deal!

A late lunch , early cocktail. Brown onion soup to make France proud

We came for a late lunch. Service was sub par and the food was horrendous. The fish tasted stale and almost microwaved. The chicken in the salad was tough and overcooked and the vegetables in the salad didn’t seemed fresh too.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Chez Gabriel. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. We actually showed up thinking we had a reservation, only to realize we didn’t—but the staff handled the situation with incredible kindness and professionalism. The hostess graciously found a way to seat us, and from that point on, the service was nothing short of exceptional. The attention to detail and genuine warmth made us feel truly welcome. As for the food, it was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor, showcasing the quality and care that goes into the menu. We left feeling very grateful for the experience. Between the excellent cuisine and the outstanding service, this is a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Paris.

Got here on one of the hottest days during the heat wave & was completely exhausted. I liked that the food was light and carefully prepared. It was so hot, I was nauseous and was worried that the sauces would be too heavy and I'd not be able to eat much. But the flavors were delicate and quiet perfect for me. I got the fish of the day with veggies as the main & white asparagus for appetizer. Wish I had more appetite to order a drink & a dessert. Its a cute little setting & would recommend getting reservations.
Mia★★★★☆
Food was good. Service was okay. Guessed I was the only walk-in so service was alright. Food was served fast. Escargots was good. Creamy and rich. Palerom was a bit disappointing. The beef was not as tender as expected, and the wine flavor was overstated, caused some bitterness in the beef. Potato was good though, kinda sweet, rich and creamy.
Curtis Rodgers★★★★★
This quaint little restaurant serves up a great assortment of delicious dishes. I had the filet and my wife had the fish. Both were fantastic. The ambience was of a quiet intimate dinning experience!! Highly recommend!

A fantastic place to dine in Paris the food is always excellent and service always above expectations. Nathalie has created a wonderful venue with a very creative gastronomic menu. Highly recommended but you must make a reservation.

Stopped at Le Cristal Bar Brasserie on our walk to Avenue Foch. Three of us ordered Fried Potatoes, another ordered a Mint Ice Cream sundae while one ordered the Snails. The food is very expensive for low quality food. The fried potatoes were not hot or crispy by the time we received them. The ice cream was fine and the snails were average. Service is average, whoever walks by your table takes the order or serves the food or cleans up with minor details missing, like a fork and grip for the snails, ketchup or mayo for the fries, I never did get my water. I think the partial view of the Arc de Triomphe is why their prices are so high. Never worth the money they charge.
Oğuzhan K.★★★★★
Just near the Arc de Triomphe, very good place to have a nice dinner. Actually I was afraid because of some reviews, but steak was very good, and staff was really nice and seriously fast. You can have nice time at Le Cristal.
Ridwaan Mohamed★☆☆☆☆
The lady was nice but the fellow forgot my crep, Genuinely some of the most disappointing food I’ve had in a while, it’s clear they focus on profit rather than flavour. More like a tourist trap rather than anything else, we said bring the crepes with the rest of the food and the fellow just completely forgot about it. Bad taste in my mouth.
Annie Goodwin★★★★☆
Very cute spot as it’s located by Arc de Triomphe, so you can definitely have a great view while you dine. Food was a bit overpriced, was pretty good, but mostly the ambiance of this place was our favorite, not really the food.
Mariana Agavriloae★★★★★
An exceptional experience from beginning to end! We visited Le Cristal Bar Brasserie during our stay in Paris, and everything was simply perfect. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Every dish we ordered exceeded our expectations. What made our visit truly special was the outstanding service we received from Pablo. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, comfortable, and valued as guests. His professionalism, kindness, attention to detail, and genuine warmth turned a great meal into a memorable experience. It is rare to meet someone who takes such pride in their work and treats customers with so much care. Pablo is a real credit to the restaurant, and we hope his efforts are recognised because he made our evening unforgettable. Thank you to the entire team at Le Cristal Bar Brasserie for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely return and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for excellent food and first-class service in Paris.

We had a best time here. As tourist, the atmosphere really welcoming and warm. Food was fantastic. We had Liguini with Prawn and Baby octopus, vanilla créme brulee, and hot chocolate. Definitely will recommend this place to our friends!
Isabela Ruiz★★☆☆☆
Well located and has a cozy atmosphere. The food is decent, and I ordered the breakfast, which was fair for the price. The coffee and fresh orange juice were definitely the highlight. That said, the bread was cold and quite hard, and the eggs were very plain… nothing special or memorable. Overall, the food was average at best. The real disappointment, however, was the service. The waiters technically do their job: they take your order and bring the food but that’s where it ends. There’s no greeting, no smile, no basic courtesy. The attitude feels indifferent and borderline unpleasant, as if customers are an inconvenience rather than the reason the place exists. It genuinely gives the impression they dislike their job and unfortunately, that energy is passed directly onto the guests.
Farah H★★★★★
One of the first cafes I went to on my trip to Paris & definitely ended up going again. Food was delicious & I had one of the best martinis here. The view of the Arc de Triomphe as you eat is just beautiful. Definitely recommend checking this cafe out for a nice calm atmosphere.

We stopped by Cafe Lateral for a relaxed Parisian café-style meal, and overall the experience was pleasant enough, though not particularly memorable. Atmosphere-wise, it’s quite charming. We were seated inside a little glasshouse section of the restaurant, which I actually enjoyed. Sunlight was streaming through the glass, giving the space a warm, relaxed feel. It had that casual Paris café vibe that makes you slow down a bit and enjoy the moment. Food was a mixed bag. The French onion soup was good, comforting and flavourful, exactly what you hope for with a classic like that. The escargot tasted fine as well, though the portion felt quite small given the price, just half a dozen for what felt like a premium tag. The beef tartare was alright, but nothing special. Perfectly edible, just average at most. The creamy chicken with rice was decent and probably one of the more satisfying dishes we had. Simple, hearty, and straightforward. The pumpkin dish, however, didn’t quite land for me. It felt very one dimensional in flavour, lacking depth or contrast to make it interesting. Service-wise, there isn’t much to say. It was okay, very much what you’d expect from a typical Paris café. Not particularly warm or attentive, but not rude either. Overall, Cafe Lateral is a pleasant enough stop if you’re nearby and want a casual meal in a nice setting. It's a touristy area, just so you should know.
SeanP★★★★☆
Very plush and upmarket. A touch of style near the Arc de Triomphe. Great selection of drinks. A little more expensive, but you are paying for the luxury and the location. Very pleasant staff.

The waiters looked tired, the food arrived super quick and it was cold. They asked how I wanted my tuna steak but what for? They sent it cold and overcooked. It looks like they prepare things in advance and microwave them. But at least warm them up well enough!

What a great place. Wonderful summer evening atmosphere and delightful service. Fantastic food and all reasonably priced - all 100m from the arc du triomphe! Highly recommended.

We went for dinner on Saturday night. Everything was so delicious. We loved all the food. Ambient is very cosy and service is very fast. If you’re looking to eat close by Arch de Triomphe this place is perfect. Highly recommend.

L'Arc Cafe is located on Carnot Avenue about 4 blocks from the Arc de Triomphe. The food was good. The Beef Ribeye Steak was cooked well and had a good flavor, however it had lots of fat. The steak was not worth 32€. The butcher's cut steak was a really large steak and also cooked well. One at our table was really good and the other had lots of fat. It was a better deal at 21€. The lemon crepes were really good and the chicken dippers with chili sauce were also good. The French Onion soup starter was really good. Overall the restaurant was good.

We chanced on this place after spending a long time walking around champs elysee. And man we were lucky! The galettes were exquisite and they even had vegetarian options which was good to know! The crepes we tried (banana chocolate) were decent but may be a better choice from the menu would have made the experience complete! Will definitely come back again to try more galettes and crepe options that this creperie has to offer

This place is perfect from the moment you step in it smell really good and I've had probably the best Crépes I've ever had, we got pomme, sucre, and one citron et sucre beside two hot chocolates and it was perfect. Great vegan galette option just off of Champs Elysees! Do need to modify a bit, but the veggie paste on the inside is absolutely delicious. My only issue here is that there were so many bugs at our table, even though we were at the back of the restaurant

Great find a short walk from Arc de Triomphe following a visit. Great food especially bolognese, served with fresh bread roll. Very reasonably priced, would recommend a visit if local. Limited seating within (quiet when visited so not issue for us) however can have takeaway if it was busy.

i am genuinely appalled at this restaurant. chicken was so pink and greasy, even i could have cooked it better, and i am in high school. the chips were bland, nothing special. somebody had to run to the bathroom to be sick because of the food. the pasta was too flour-y and tasted like dough. the wafer in my friends ice cream/yoghurt was stale and the only safe part was inside the yoghurt, which was a third of it. the staff were disrespectful and pushy towards my friend, who also got stuck in the bathroom because the door is sliding. there are no allergen warnings either. and don't reply to my comment with that "oh, you could've asked us to recook it" because I read every single review on the place and every one star review says the same thing and the only reviews safe from your snarky comments were the five star ones because they stroke your ego. do better and take some criticism for a change. - cora

As a vegetarian, I would NOT recommend this abomination, if you can even call it that. The main problem was the food, above all: as I was served a squished and folorn-looking vegetable patty, the chef, to my utter horror and disdain, used a utensil that had previously been buried in sinews of slippery beef slices. The atrocity! My very speech was stunted as I endeavoured to protest, but the heapful of greasy chips that was dumped atop in uccesssion signaled that it was simply too late. I am positive that even the strongest broccoli munchers🥦across the globe would quiver at the thought of the invading meat juices poisoning every plate. Venture in at your own risk... (Vegetarians beware)

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had, came here with a group, the place looked adorable, but the staff were horrible, i wont blame them though, i know its hard in the service industry, or its just french people. I got the chicken the crust was actually vile, it was like white people cooking trying to add a little seasoning but mixing up salt with like powdered mould. The chicken was raw, the fries was the only good thing there, the complementary water was so confusing to get, and the dessert, i thought i got creme brûlée but the top was soft so i thought maybe it could be soufflé , but that cant stay out too long its possibly just really bad creme brûlée, but it was far from that, (it was in the deserts area i know what i got) it was just scrambled eggs with like sloshy liquid at the bottom. Worst place ever please just go get street food, if anything its better there than in here, STAY AWAY! I thought i was going to get sick from eating this food, whole group except from like one or two people felt like they’re going to die. I cried. Worst place ever. Forgot to mention the salad tasted like it was left out for like two months.

Had chicken burger with egg added, u might need to ask to have egg well done as its runny sunny side up. Kids had chicken tenders its 2 prices only. The French fries were fantastic nice and crispy. Vegetarian toastie had good veggie inside but too much cream cheese which I had to leave and work around to eat. Roughly spend is €25 on average per person.

I first ordered onion soup but the soup was not that good and the cheese on top was a little burnt and also one of the toasted breads inside the soup was burnt too so I asked them to change my food and they kindly accepted. Instead of the soup I ordered a steak with fries which was good. Generally I was satisfied but I don’t recommend the soup.

A nice restaurant to diner in. Nice food and friendly staff. When paying for bill, service charge is not included, server asked if okay to add 10% extra.

We had an extremely unpleasant and rude experience 😟😟😟😟 I came to Paris from the Netherlands for a holiday, and a few hours ago, we went to Brasserie des Champs on the Champs-Élysées for lunch. Since we live in the Netherlands, we are accustomed to waiting for a member of staff to show us to a table as a matter of basic courtesy, even when a restaurant is completely empty. We were prepared to do the same here, but before sitting down, we simply asked whether onion soup was available as a starter. The female waitress responded in an extremely rude manner. She told us, essentially, that we could not simply walk in, ask whether they had onion soup, and then sit wherever we wanted. Her attitude was so hostile that we felt as though we were being thrown out of the restaurant. She then made another dismissive hand gesture and rudely told us, “Go ahead, sit at that table.” My husband was about to sit down simply out of politeness, but I quietly told him that I did not want to stay. The waitress clearly understood this and, once again in a very rude manner, turned her head away as if to say, “Suit yourselves,” and began speaking in French to another employee at the bar. There was no argument, no disagreement, no misunderstanding, and absolutely no reason for such behaviour. Nevertheless, this was one of the rudest experiences we have ever had, and unfortunately, it left us with a very negative impression of the Champs-Élysées. I sincerely hope that you can learn to treat tourists visiting your country with a little more courtesy and respect. Yours sincerely,

Tips for Eating Cheaply Near the Arc de Triomphe

Navigating the dining scene around one of Paris’s most touristic landmarks requires a bit of local strategy. The difference between paying fifteen euros and fifty euros for a meal often comes down to timing, location, and how you order. By adopting a few habits of the locals who work in the surrounding offices, you can easily keep your food budget in check without sacrificing the joy of French dining.

Avoid the "Avenue" Premium
The streets directly adjacent to the Arc—particularly the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and Avenue Kléber—charge a premium for their addresses. Walk just two or three blocks north into the 17th arrondissement (towards Rue Poncelet or Rue de Lévis) or east towards Rue de Miromesnil. The prices drop noticeably as the density of tourists decreases, while the authenticity of the food increases.

Maximize the Lunch Formule
If you want a traditional sit-down French meal with table service, do it at lunch. Most brasseries and bistros offer a "Formule Déjeuner" that includes an entrée and plat, or plat and dessert, for between 15 and 20 euros. At dinner, the exact same dishes ordered à la carte could cost you over 40 euros. This is the single most effective way to eat well for less.

Skip the Soda, Order the Carafe
Beverages are where restaurants make their profit margins. A bottle of soft drink can cost upwards of 6 euros. In France, tap water is legally free if you ask for "une carafe d’eau." Pair this with a glass of the house wine (vin de la maison), which is usually reasonably priced, or simply stick to water to keep your total bill low.

Look for Bakeries and Traiteurs
For the cheapest and fastest meals, skip restaurants entirely. The neighborhood is filled with high-end bakeries (boulangeries) and prepared food shops (traiteurs). You can purchase a gourmet sandwich on a fresh baguette, a slice of quiche, or a savory pastry for under 8 euros. Take it to the nearby Parc Monceau or the quieter side streets for a picnic with a view.

Check the Chalkboard, Not the Printed Menu
Restaurants that cater to locals change their menu daily based on what is fresh at the market. These daily specials are usually written on a chalkboard outside or inside the door. They are often cheaper than the standard printed menu because the chef buys the ingredients in bulk for that specific day. If a place has a permanent, laminated menu in five languages, it is likely a tourist trap with inflated prices.

The area surrounding the Arc de Triomphe is a fascinating mix of high-end luxury and everyday Parisian life. While the windows of the nearby couture houses may be out of reach for most budgets, the food does not have to be. By stepping off the main avenues and following the local office workers, you unlock a side of the 8th and 17th arrondissements that feels genuine and welcoming.

Eating affordably here is not about sacrificing the Parisian experience; it is about enhancing it. There is a distinct pleasure in enjoying a perfectly baked croissant or a rustic bowl of French onion soup while knowing you have beaten the system. So, after you have taken your photos at the top of the Arc and admired the view down the Champs-Élysées, head north, find a quiet bistro, and enjoy a meal that leaves both your stomach and your wallet full.
