12 Best Restaurants near the Louvre Museum

After a morning spent wandering the palatial halls of the Louvre, dodging selfie sticks in front of the Mona Lisa, and marveling at the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the inevitable question arises: where do we eat? The area immediately surrounding the museum is a fascinating paradox. While it sits in the very heart of Paris, the 1st arrondissement, the streets directly bordering the palace are often dominated by tourist traps serving overpriced, underwhelming food designed for one-time visitors.

However, you do not need to settle for a bad crepe or a wilted croque monsieur simply because your feet hurt. The Louvre’s central location means you are actually just a short stroll away from some of the most storied culinary addresses in the capital. From historic brasseries that have served artists and kings to hidden Japanese noodle bars and elegant neo-bistros, the surrounding Palais-Royal and Les Halles districts are a treasure trove of dining options.

Finding a great meal near a major landmark requires a bit of local knowledge. You need to know which direction to walk, whether to prioritize lunch or dinner, and which establishments offer the best value for your euro. This guide is designed to bridge the gap between your cultural hunger and your physical appetite, ensuring you do not waste a single meal in Paris.

We have curated a list that spans a variety of budgets, cuisines, and atmospheres. Whether you need a quick, high-quality bite before your timed entry slot or a leisurely three-course lunch to rest your legs, there is an option here for you. We prioritize places with a proven track record for consistency, hospitality, and authentic Parisian flavor.

These recommendations are based on a mix of historical significance, culinary reputation, and proximity to the museum. We have included everything from Michelin-starred elegance to the perfect corner bistro for a glass of wine and a steak frites. You can trust that these are places locals actually frequent, not just spots that rely on foot traffic.

Before we dive into the specific list, it is worth noting that Parisian dining hours can be strict. Many kitchens close between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. If you are visiting the Louvre in the late afternoon, you will need to look for "service continu" (all-day service) or plan for a patisserie snack until dinner service begins.

With that in mind, let’s explore the absolute best places to eat within walking distance of the glass pyramid. These selections are organized to help you find exactly what you need, whether you are looking for a historic dining room or a modern culinary experience.

Balanced & Professional A wonderful dining experience! The food and service were exceptional, truly deserving of top marks. The atmosphere was very pleasant and almost perfect. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality meal in a great setting.

I visited here after a long day in Le Louvre and I was very impressed! I was welcomed by the lovely server Nirmine and she gave the best recommendation from the cocktail to the dessert. The duck was absolutely amazing, crispy skin but the flesh just melted in your mouth 🙂 Pornstar martini was cute and gimmicky with the Prosecco to ´rinse ´ in between each sip. The Crème brêle was nice but I was already too full to enjoy fully. Good location, good food and good service 😉

We had a fantastic dinner here. The kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing. The Dishes • French Onion Soup: The broth had a rich, deeply savory depth, and it was topped with a generous, properly melted layer of cheese over crusty bread. • Beef Bourguignon: The beef was incredibly tender, braised in a rich, glossy red wine reduction with carrots and fresh herbs. Presenting it with a smooth mound of mashed potatoes right in the center was a great touch, perfect for soaking up the sauce. • Duck Confit: Exceptionally well-prepared. This was my favorite! The skin was perfectly crisp while the meat remained tender and juicy. It came paired with well-seasoned roasted potatoes and a simple side salad that provided a nice, fresh contrast to the richness of the dish. Overall Experience: The meal was rounded out nicely with a basket of fresh baguette and a crisp beer. Portions are generous, presentation is clean, and the flavors are spot on. It's a great spot for an authentic, unpretentious meal. We’ll definitely be back.

Exceeded our expectation of French cuisine. We had the Burgundy snails for entree, Duck confit, sautéed new potatoes with garlic, pepper sauce & Burger, Charolais steak with cheese sauce, homemade fries for our mains and Crème Brûlée for dessert. The snails were seasoned very well with garlic & parsley butter, duck melted in your mouth and was delicious, steak burger flavours were out of this world and what can I say about the Crème Brûlée silky smooth. Highly recommend this cute restaurant with friendly service and great atmosphere. Thankyou to the staff for making this the best meal we have had in Europe the past 5 weeks.

Good experience, good food and ok service. The restaurant is small and very crowded, the service was OK, we were quickly seated but not as quickly served. The escargots were good, same the beef tartare and the onion soup. French fries were terrible and the duck was ok, the prices are fair for being in Paris. It takes a while to be seated if you are with a bigger group, 2 ppl get accommodated pretty quick.

Café Le Louvre is a fantastic place to enjoy a meal or a coffee in the heart of Paris. The location is excellent, with a classic Parisian atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. The food is fresh and delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the service is warm, attentive, and professional. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or just a relaxing drink, it's a wonderful spot to experience the charm of Paris. Highly recommended.

The food was very good, and both the exterior and interior of the cafe was nice and clean. Staff was nice and welcoming. Price is a little high, but very good food. There was menu for lunch set too

Today I tried Café de Louve and it was fantastic. As a solo traveler, I was a bit nervous dining alone, but the staff greeted me warmly as soon as I arrived. I was seated right away, given time to choose from the quaint menu, and my food arrived quickly and tasted delicious. The staff were friendly and well-spoken, and the prices were amazing considering the café is so close to the Louvre. I ordered the Petit-Déj Plus (photo included), which also came with a butter croissant. Everything was fresh, tasty, and generously portioned. I’d definitely recommend this spot.

Great dining experience at Café du Louvre! The salmon was perfectly cooked, the onion soup was rich and flavorful, and the ravioli pasta was absolutely delicious. The food quality was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely.

We stopped in for a drink, and sat out the front. Perfect spot to sit and soak in the atmosphere. Lovely staff - really good interaction with a young male server who encouraged us to try the XXL snails, and was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend.

We visited Brasserie du Louvre for Sunday lunch during a wonderful 6 day visit to Paris, and it was one of the culinary highlights of the trip! We had a broad selection of appetizers and main dishes, ranging from yellowtail crudo, an elevated croque monsieur, baked cod, a langoustine dish in the most amazing bouillabaisse sauce, and a braised pork dish. Deserts were amazing, and the free Madeline’s that arrived with our coffee disappeared quickly! The ambiance was upscale but not stuffy at all.. wonderful, super professional service provided by friendly staff. Wow wow wow.. I can’t wait to go back! Cinq Etoiles! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Luxuriant, good and professionally friendly. We went at 6 on a Saturday lunch and we could enter, but just after that it became full. The menu is fairly simple and therefore easy to read and choose from. The food was perfect. The staff seems well educated. The waiter was very friendly and funny saying lots of jokes whilst always remaining very professional. We got 1 courtesy coffee from the fancy coffee machine as well. Highly recommended.

We ate here multiple times since breakfast was included in the package for our stay, there are a few pictures and a video from one dinner. The food was incredible! As someone from the states, if this were representative of French cuisine then what an impression it made! My dinner was a veal flank steak with bearnaise sauce, and dessert was a tableside crêpe suzette. Breakfast each morning was a combo of buffet and specialty orders. The drinks were inclusive during breakfast, so I had orange juice, coffee, and champagne.
Luiz Castel★★★★★
We tried the Emily in Paris menu, at 85 euros, the portions were generous, the champanhe glass came full (so it is like having 2 glasses), the tartare was incredible, the salmon cofit as well, onion soup full of cheese, creme brulee and crepe suzette, all super good really…
Crystal B★★★★★
Food here was reasonably priced for A La Carte and we were able to get some eggs which are not found in a lot of places. When the eggs arrived it was a very small bowl with the bacon and potatoes on top. The French toast as good but also small. Their buffet Breakfast was pricey at about $45 per person which allowed you to order from Al La Cart and then go up for some juices and addio al fruit and small pastries. Food was good and served hot.

My wife and I had such a great meal here after visiting the Louvre! The waiter was very nice and attentive and took great care of us. The food was soooooooo good! Although not traditionally French cuisine, it was cooked wonderfully and the aesthetics were off the charts! We started with the white asparagus and beef tartare, had fillet and salmon for our mains and finished with a delicious kladdkaka and chocolate cake. A must try experience if you are in Paris! 😁

Lovely place for drinks! Variety of options with creative cocktails. Highly recommend - each one we tried was delicious & refreshing out of the afternoon heat. Relaxing time to enjoy drink& atmosphere. Little bit of noise (especially if outside or by door/window), but easy to talk.

Excellent food! During our visit, I would say Le Fumoir is the restaurant we liked the most. Reasonable price, excellent food. We ordered the Skrei poele and Porchetta and both dishes are delicious.
Swiss Brownie★★★★☆
Loved the vibe. The three course menu is well thought out and feels worthwhile. Service was warm and efficient. The flavours were good, with a few creative fusion touches rather than classic authenticity. Unlike the usual fixed menus, there are several options to choose from within the three courses. I usually prefer fully traditional French food when dining in a French restaurant, but this was still a very enjoyable experience.
Marc Spierings★★★★★
Exceptional good food at a very acceptable price within meters of the Louvre. A restaurant not to be overlooked. Excellent food and service with a typical French Parisian interior especially eating in the library. I can only highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing experience! The food was incredible from start to finish. The pizza was delicious, the pasta was just as good, and the desserts (tiramisu and cheesecake) were the perfect cherry on top. The staff were also very friendly and funny, especially the waiter who served us, which made the whole experience even better. All in all, a really great experience, delicious food and great atmosphere. Would definitely come again!

Food was nice (we had Lasagna) and tasty. Tiramissu and coffee were fine as well. It was a bit crowded but they managed to get us a table straight away. Prices are moderate and staff was polite. Tables are a bit smaller but that is common in Paris.
Jamie Wojciechowski★★★★☆
Enza Famiglia has the feel of a chain restaurant, with quick prepared foods and fast service. For a starter we ordered a Caprese Salad to share. I ordered the Margarita pizza and my partner ordered the Pasta Pomodoro with whole tomatoes. All three dishes arrived at the same time, so we split the salad while eating our meals. The pizza crust was crispy and tasty, the tomato sauce didn't have much of a flavor and the cheese was very good. My partners pasta was fine, light on tomato taste but fine. The Caprese was very good with fresh tomatoes and hard mozzarella cheese. Overall, not bad.
Mel Chang★★★★★
Absolutely loved this place! The fresh pasta with truffle was amazing — so fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. Saverio and his team were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the hospitality really made the whole experience special. The wine by the glass was also amazing. Especially the Nebbiolo. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, and they made it so sweet and memorable for us. Wonderful food, wonderful people. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️🇮🇹

I wanted some Italian food and I was near the Louvre. I found this place on Google Maps, the restaurant is very nice although it was very hot inside. I had the carbonara pasta, which was very good. I also had an Italian salad. It was fine. Overall the food was great. Our server was very nice but the food took forever. I mean very long even for Europe. Definitely check this place out if you want some Italian food in Paris.

We were absolutely delighted with our evening at Le Marly. We had booked a table in the row closer to the Louvre courtyard. However, when we were seated, we were given a table next to a service station for the waiters, which partially blocked our view of the pyramid. I politely asked whether it would be possible to move us if a table with a full view of the pyramid became available. The hostess was incredibly kind and, with a smile, did everything she could to make it happen. Within just five minutes, another table became free, and as soon as it was cleared, she moved us there. That thoughtful gesture truly made our evening, especially because we were celebrating an important occasion. The magical lights of the Louvre added an extra touch of magic to the whole atmosphere. I would also like to highlight the excellent service. The waiters speak English fluently, are attentive, and are happy to help with choosing dishes. By the way, the cheesecake is absolutely incredible, and we also really enjoyed the salmon gravlax starter. At one point, someone at a nearby table started smoking a cigar. I asked a waiter who was not even serving our table if something could be done, and he immediately handled the situation by asking the guest to stop, as cigars are not allowed. His quick response allowed us to fully enjoy the dishes we had ordered without the smoke disturbing us. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Café Le Marly and left extremely satisfied. ✨💌😻.
Alisha★★★★☆
The atmosphere, food and services is great! The tables on the outside are a little small. We did not reserve a table tho that might be why. All in all we had a great experience to eat next to the Louvre and we could also see the Eiffel Tower from our table. ✨✨🍽️ We had one main course per person, water, homemade Ice tea and a glass of wine. Very delicious

Le Café Marly offers a wonderful dining experience in one of the best locations in Paris. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive, making you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. The view overlooking the Louvre is absolutely stunning and adds something special to the meal. The food is delicious, with every dish beautifully presented and full of flavor. Considering the location and overall experience, the prices are very reasonable. A perfect place to enjoy great food with an unforgettable view. Highly recommended!

This might just be my favorite meal in the entire world. As someone who is well-traveled, I don't give that honor lightly. I've gone out of my way to make a day trip into Paris from other European countries just to eat this meal: A caesar salad to start, the roasted scallops for the main course, and a crème brûlée for dessert. The food is simple, delicious, and technically flawless. 10/10
Foodie Adventurer★★★★☆
Overall, we had a fine experience. The service was good, and the staff were polite and attentive throughout our meal. One small downside was that heavy silverware was dropped onto the wooden floor several times during service. The loud clatter was quite startling and made the atmosphere feel a bit stressful at moments. The hot chocolate is every bit as good as the reviews say and was the perfect sugar boost after six hours of walking through the Louvre. A word of warning: it’s incredibly rich and decadent without being overly sweet. We shared one order, and it was the perfect amount for the two of us. As for the food, the orecchiette with Bolognese was the highlight of the meal. It was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I’d happily order it again. The Caesar salad, however, was disappointing. The meat on top looked unusual and was difficult to identify. It didn’t taste or resemble either chicken or anchovies, leaving us unsure of what we were eating and making the dish feel off. Unfortunately, it’s not something I would recommend.

We visited Nelson’s in Paris quite late, around 10:30 PM, just when their happy hour was starting, and it turned out to be a really nice place to relax after a long day of exploring the city. We ordered a glass of red wine, a glass of white wine, and a beer from their happy hour menu. All three drinks were good, especially considering the happy hour prices, which made the experience even better. One thing to know is that if you want to take advantage of the happy hour drinks, you need to go to the bar to order them rather than waiting for table service. It was actually quite easy and didn’t take long. What we really enjoyed was the atmosphere. The furniture is comfortable and cozy, and the overall environment has a relaxed and welcoming feeling. It’s the kind of place where you can sit down, enjoy a drink, and take your time without feeling rushed. For us, it was also a great spot to sit together and plan what we wanted to do the next day in Paris while enjoying some drinks. If you’re looking for a comfortable place for reasonably priced drinks during happy hour, Nelson’s is definitely worth considering. We had a pleasant evening and would happily visit again.

Came here for a couple of beers and ended up staying for hours. The ambiance is just great, the location is terrific and (not usual in Paris) the bathrooms are spacious and with multiple toilets! The staff are generally courteous too.

Amazing South African food. The ribs fell off the bone and the Chakalaka was amazing. The lamb was great too as well as the fish.

The wait staff was super nice and efficient throughout the experience. I did have the pizza, and unfortunately it wasn’t heated very well, which kind of took away from it a bit. That said, the flavor was honestly still really good even cold — just not ideal for pizza. Other than that, no complaints!

We were famished and didn’t want to leave the Louvre to find somewhere else to eat, so we tried this food court. There are a couple of food choices and coffee machines, it’s exactly what you expect from a food court. Considering the location, the prices aren’t outrageous, though some dishes could be a bit cheaper. We didn’t enjoy the Thai rice dish we had, the chicken and potatoes were average. Both portions were good size, and the staff were nice. There’s ample seating available. The toilet costs 1.50/2 euros, which is ridiculous, even for paying customers. I guess the food court and the service are separate.

The chicken was so dry it could have been a prop. The potatoes/vegetables were mush and the side sauce looked okay. Don't waste your money.

Having eaten at fine dining restaurants around the world, I found this lunch experience a disappointing given the restaurant’s reputation and Michelin-starred status. The setting and views are undeniably beautiful, yet we were seated behind a column that blocked a lot of them. When I asked if we could move to one of several empty tables with a clear view, I was told it would be too complicated to arrange. Those tables then stayed empty for the entire meal. The food was well prepared and nicely presented, but it just didn’t have the flavour, creativity, or wow factor you’d expect at this level. More concerning was the service. The sommelier never came back to take our drinks order, so we had to follow up ourselves. Water was spilled on the plate and table, and the jus for our main course was poured rather carelessly, leaving drips on both the plate and serving vessel. Our waitress however was very polite. I understand that services can get busy, but attention to detail is exactly what sets great restaurants apart from simply good ones. The view would have been the best part of the experience had we not been sat next to a column. I would consider coming back for a drink with the view, but not for another meal.

We came for lunch on 12/25 and only then realized our reservation was for the following day. The staff were so kind and still accommodated us. From start to finish, it was an outstanding experience—attentive service, a relaxed yet elegant ambience, and truly memorable food, desserts, and views. Our waiter (half-jokingly) said dessert would be the best part of the meal, and he wasn’t wrong. Every dessert we ordered was exceptional. The oysters and the French toast were the best we’ve ever had! Don’t miss the terrace—the view over the Seine with the Eiffel Tower in the distance is stunning. Dining at Le Tout-Paris was one of the highlights of our trip, and we’re very grateful for the experience.
Martin Vikan★★★★★
We were lucky to be seated on the terrace. If you want a terrace table, it’s best to request it when making your reservation. The staff were professional, attentive, and very friendly. The grilled lobster was the highlight of our visit, perfectly paired with a delicious white wine. It was difficult to find anything to complain about—our experience was 10/10. Highly recommended.
Chris lucskay★★★★★
This establishment delivers a pinnacle fine-dining experience, anchored by breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the sparkling Eiffel Tower. I opted for the 5-course tasting menu, and every dish was a masterclass in technique. Standouts included a delicate white fish in a luxurious cream sauce, an intricately balanced vegetable course, and a spectacular architectural chocolate dessert. They also boast an impressive world-class wine program. What truly elevated the evening, however, was the hospitality. The service was, without exaggeration, the best I have ever experienced…highly attentive, precisely orchestrated, yet incredibly warm. An absolute must-visit.
Haley Hartwick★★★★☆
This hotel is lovely, and the service in every corner was incredible. The food was delicious, though obviously expensive, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The view from Le Tout was nice, but not stunning. You could see the Eiffel and Notre Dame, but they are fairly far away and do not make for a fantastic photo. The interior of the restaurant seemed a little…worn? Like it could use some freshening up. A nice place, but I wouldn’t return here for a big birthday or anniversary. Our celebration was a bit of a disappointment compared to the money we paid to be here. Maybe try somewhere like the Jukes Vern if you’re looking for more special occasion/“wow, a fancy birthday meal in Paris!” vibes? I’m really not sure. Also, this restaurant is not air conditioned.

Simple fare done well. But nothing fancy with any presentation. Duck or cod buried under mashed potatoes in a casserole dish. Could not tell them apart at first. Wine selection is very sparse. Escargots were very good. Service friendly and excellent. Should have went for lunch instead of dinner.

Everything was delicious! from the ravioli soup to the beef tartare, escargot, and wine 👍 We especially appreciated that they kindly offered to make a separate pasta dish for our 18-month-old baby without us even asking. We couldn't recommend this place higher. We decided to go here after our Louvre visit and we were starving. We had coq-au-vin and the steak but the main highlight were the mashed potatoes that came with the steak. They were easily the best we had during our stay in Paris. Extra points go the staff which were friendly, attentive and funny.

Following an enchanting evening stroll through Paris, we concluded our night with a midnight dinner at a cafe-restaurant that exuded charm, offered a superb ambiance, and provided exceptional service. The culinary experience was unparalleled. To commence, I selected the French Onion Soup, which featured a delicate broth and was crowned with exquisite cheese. This warm and comforting soup proved to be the perfect remedy after a day of rain. For my second course, I opted for another starter: Pâté de Foie Gras, accompanied by toast, jam, and small caramelized dried mandarins. The robust flavor of the pâté de foie gras, harmoniously balanced by the sweetness of the mandarins, created an irresistible combination. My wife enjoyed the Salmon with mashed potatoes; I must commend the mashed potatoes for their exceptional softness and creaminess, to the extent that I finished the remainder of her portion. We concluded our meal with crepes and coffee. Additionally, we savored two local 1664 beers. It was truly magnificent. Should your travels bring you to Paris, particularly in proximity to the Louvre Museum, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment. I assign this exceptional venue a perfect rating of 5 out of 5.

I came from Brazil to see the sights of Paris, and we discovered this place. It is a great option for dinner after touring Paris's main attractions. I recommend taking a night bus tour before coming here, as the restaurant stays open late and offers excellent service and quality food at a fair price—especially considering its proximity to the Louvre. The menu is a highlight in itself; for a starter, I recommend the traditional French onion soup with cheese. The house specialties come highly recommended as well—paired with a good wine—and a Crème Brûlée makes for a perfect finish. Great service and exceptional quality.

You have to try their duck confit! It’s so flavorful and pairs perfectly with their excellent gravy. The mashed potatoes are smooth and creamy—absolutely divine. The server was also exceptionally kind and helpful. I’ve visited twice now, and this place consistently keeps their quality high. Definitely recommend!

Service was amazing! Antonio ist Perfect , he has a huge empathie to his guests. But Steaks weren’t so gut as a personal. We were trying Snails for the first time and presentation how to eat them was as well amazing !

RLLY HIT THE SPOT! i don’t usually have high expectations for burgers when its not specifically a burger place. BUT here i was really surprised, it was juicy, good sauce, good pickles, nice bun. Honestly didn’t have anything bad to say, i tried the Le cicrette with extra bacon ALSO!! the sweet fries were very good, better than regular.

It was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish, and I genuinely feel it deserves a detailed review. The food was incredibly delicious, far beyond my expectations. Every bite felt carefully prepared and full of flavor. The pasta, in particular, was outstanding—perfectly cooked, rich in taste, and simply unforgettable. I can confidently say it was one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time. The burger was another highlight of the meal. It was easily one of the best burgers I have ever eaten—juicy, well-balanced, and cooked to perfection. You could tell that high-quality ingredients were used, which made a big difference. The atmosphere also had a unique charm, almost like something antique, which added a special touch to the overall experience. It created a warm and welcoming environment where you could truly relax and enjoy your time. What impressed me the most, however, was the service. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. They looked after us very well throughout the entire visit. I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

A great place to meet, people-watch and enjoy some good bar food and tapas with super friendly service. It’s a busy and bustling place with a good happy hour to enjoy cheaper drinks. The arancini, burrata & hummus were all very good and the service was fast, warm and efficient.

We went to Charly as two families during our trip to Paris, and this was by far the worst dining experience we had in the city. This place feels like a complete tourist trap. The biggest issue was the food quality and lack of attention from the kitchen. The burger menu did not mention ham or bacon anywhere, yet they somehow added it to the burger anyway. After pointing this out, I politely asked them to remake it. Unfortunately, the replacement burger came back even worse — the meat was completely undercooked and raw inside. It was visibly pink and unsafe to eat. This is not just a small mistake; this is a serious food safety issue. No restaurant should be serving burgers in this condition, especially after already remaking the order once. The fries and overall food quality were mediocre, the service was careless, and the entire experience was frustrating and disappointing. Paris has so many amazing places to eat — do yourself a favor and avoid this one.

Practical Tips for Dining Near the Louvre

Navigating the restaurant scene around a major tourist hub requires a slightly different strategy than eating in a residential neighborhood. To ensure you have a seamless experience and avoid the common pitfalls that plague hungry tourists, consider the following advice before you secure a table. These guidelines will help you eat like a local, save money, and manage your time efficiently during your visit.

1. Walk ten minutes to save twenty euros
The golden rule of eating near the Louvre is the "10-minute rule." The restaurants directly facing the museum on Rue de Rivoli or Place du Carrousel often charge a premium for the view. If you walk just ten minutes north into the Palais-Royal or east into Les Halles, prices drop significantly and quality rises exponentially.

2. Check for "Service Continu" if you eat late
As mentioned, French kitchens close between lunch and dinner. If you finish your museum tour at 4:00 PM and are starving, do not waste time knocking on doors. Look for signs that say "Service Continu." These are usually brasseries or cafes that keep the kitchen open all day.

3. Make a lunch reservation for fine dining
If you want to try one of the more upscale or Michelin-starred restaurants near the Louvre, lunch is the time to do it. The lunch "formule" (set menu) is often 40-50% cheaper than the dinner menu for nearly the same quality of food. However, these spots are popular with local business people, so book ahead.

4. Beware of the "Menu Touristique"
If a menu is printed in six languages and features a photo of every dish, keep walking. These are designed for one-time visitors and rarely feature fresh, seasonal produce. Instead, look for a chalkboard menu (ardoise) written only in French; this indicates the chef is cooking what was fresh at the market that morning.

5. Embrace the "Counter" or "Bar" seating
Parisian restaurants can be small, and prime tables near the window are usually reserved. If you are a party of one or two and did not make a reservation, ask to sit at the bar or "comptoir." This is often the best seat in the house, offering a front-row view of the kitchen or the bustling bar action.

6. Validate your parking or plan for the Metro
If you are driving, parking near the Louvre is notoriously difficult and expensive. Most of the restaurants on this list are better accessed via Metro Line 1 (Palais-Royal or Louvre-Rivoli) or Line 7. The Metro is efficient, safe, and will save you the headache of navigating the one-way streets and restricted zones around the museum.

7. Save room for dessert elsewhere
A great trick used by Parisians is to eat your main course at a bistro, then walk to a dedicated pastry shop or ice cream parlor for dessert. This allows you to experience two different venues and ensures you get the best possible sweet treat. The streets around the Palais-Royal are perfect for this kind of culinary strolling.

Exploring the area around the Louvre offers a unique opportunity to experience the intersection of Parisian history and modern gastronomy. While the museum houses the art of the past, the surrounding streets are alive with the culinary art of the present. By choosing wisely, you can turn a simple meal break into one of the highlights of your trip.

Remember that a great meal in Paris is not just about the food on the plate; it is about the atmosphere, the pace of the service, and the people watching. Take your time, order a glass of wine, and soak in the ambiance of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Bon appétit!
