Walking through the 7th arrondissement with the wrought-iron lattice of the Eiffel Tower looming overhead is an experience defined by sensory overload. The scent of butter, caramelizing sugar, and freshly milled flour often cuts through the crisp Parisian air, pulling you toward hidden storefronts.
For those who measure a trip not just in landmarks but in laminated dough and ganache, this neighborhood is a pilgrimage site. Parisian bakery culture is not merely about sustenance; it is a rigorous craft protected by tradition and judged by discerning locals.
Finding a true boulangerie or pâtisserie here means seeking out artisans who still ferment dough for hours and source single-origin chocolate. It is the difference between a tourist trap selling defrosted croissants and a master baker pulling dark, blistered baguettes from a deck oven.
Because this area sits at the intersection of high tourism and residential elegance, the quality spectrum is wide. You can stumble into a place selling mediocre sandwiches with a view, or you can walk two blocks further to find a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France) piping delicate choux pastry. Knowing where to go saves you money and spares you from culinary disappointment.
We have curated a list of the most reliable and exceptional addresses within walking distance of the Iron Lady. These are shops where the viennoiseries shatter properly, the baguette tradition has a creamy, irregular crumb, and the cakes are architectural feats. Whether you are planning a picnic on the Champ de Mars or seeking a warm refuge on a rainy morning, this guide covers the essentials.
Each entry has been selected for its consistency, the pedigree of its bakers, and the loyalty it commands from the local French clientele. You will find a mix of historic institutions, modern innovators, and specialized pastry laboratories. They all share one common trait: a relentless obsession with butterfat content and fermentation.
Before we dive into the list, remember that Parisians usually visit the bakery twice a day. They buy the morning croissant fresh and return in the evening for the dinner baguette. To eat like a local near the Eiffel Tower, you should adopt this rhythm rather than buying everything at once in the morning.

Amazing cakes and pastries! I came here multiple times during my stay in Paris, since it was the closest boulangerie to my accommodation, and it was a favourite stop of mine to pick up some afternoon tea or dessert. Great range of sweets, and all delicious! My favourite was the raspberry macaron sandwich.

This is such a lovely place with the sweetest staff! Melissa is an amazing person, she was so welcoming and radiated positivity to every single customer. The desserts were delicious and the location is just perfect. I highly recommend this place, I miss it so much!

We got the coffee and chocolate macarons and they were both delicious. Coffee was great. They were a sympathetic to my awful French. Good value.

Delicious food, we got three of the trending crookies which were amazing. Was reasonably priced at €4.50 I must say it was quite busy but still fast, kind service. Very close to great Eiffel Tower view

I had a wonderful experience at this bakery. It was very busy and there was a queue. It looks like a museum inside - so beautiful. Tables and chairs to sit on outside, which is a bonus. The sandwiches were good, but the Pear and Chocolate Tart was sensational - not too sweet, so fresh and crumbly - I think it was the most delicious dessert I’ve ever eaten 🥹 (on this trip anyway 🙃)

Maison Bergeron was very close to where we stayed, and during our 7 days in Paris, it was the only bakery we visited every single day.
The service was excellent—warm, friendly, and welcoming. As tourists from Taiwan, our French was quite limited, but the staff were always happy to speak English with us and made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in.
During our stay, we tried a wide variety of items, including baguettes, traditional baguettes, chocolate croissants, sandwiches, salads, croissants, éclairs, cannelés, palmiers, and several delicious desserts whose names I unfortunately can’t remember.
Everything we tasted was fresh and delicious. Maison Bergeron quickly became one of our favorite places in Paris, and we will definitely be back the next time we visit the city.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for excellent pastries, bread, and friendly service in Paris.

Lovely bakery, though be prepared for it to be busy. We tried the crookie and the pain au chocolat. The crookie was outstanding, easily the highlight. The pain au chocolat was fine, nothing special, but perfectly good. Beautiful spot and worth a stop.

Stopped in here every morning for fresh bread while we stayed in Paris. Our apartment was 20 feet around the corner. Staff was always helpful as I know maybe six words in French. Baguettes and croissants were warm and so fresh. Quiches were good. My wife said the fruit tarts she tried were excellent. They had tons of sandwiches read as well, but I didn’t not try them.

We've had creme brulee at many famous places, but this one was the best of them all. It's a small, charming bakery. The sandwiches are also quite affordable.

Some of the greatest pastries I’ve had. Took home 4 boxes of macarons and swung by all the time on our vacation.

Just a clueless American here and not Anton Ego, but this shop was around the corner from our hotel. So just an hour after checking in, first time in Paris, my son and I stopped in here to grab a snack as we walked over to Champ-de-Mars.
Immediately greeted in a friendly way. He talked to us in several different languages as I explained my lack of being able to pronounce anything very well. Had some friendly banter, in multiple languages, before going with the Croissant au Jambon and some Eclairs. Both were excellent. I have a feeling we will stop by again before leaving. So many good looking pastries to choose from.

The shopkeeper was very sweet and spoke in English with us. The Macaroons were amazing 15 euros for 8 piece.

A must-visit breakfast spot in Paris! The famous hot chocolate absolutely lives up to the hype—rich, velvety, and perfectly paired with a fresh buttery croissant and sweet strawberries. The avocado toast was fresh and delicious, and the chocolate crêpe with ice cream was a huge hit with the kids. The onion soup was outstanding. Elegant atmosphere, excellent service, and a truly memorable Parisian breakfast. Highly recommended!

Carette was truly one of the highlights of our time in Paris! From the moment we sat down, everything felt so chic and charming. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful classic Parisian elegance with the cutest details everywhere you look.
The food and drinks were amazing. The pastries were fresh and perfectly made, and their famous hot chocolate was rich, creamy, and unforgettable. Everything looked as good as it tasted! We ordered so much and loved every single bite.
Sitting outside and enjoying the Parisian vibe made it even more special. It felt like such a dreamy experience the perfect place to relax, talk, and soak in the city.
If you’re in Paris and want a café that feels both iconic and cozy, Carette is a must. We loved it so much and would go back in a heartbeat! 💕✨

Had a great experience at Café Carette. There was a line when we arrived, but it moved pretty fast so the wait wasn’t bad at all. The vibe is super cozy and feels very classic Parisian.
The café food itself was just okay, but the hot chocolate was amazing — especially with the croissant and whipped cream. Definitely the highlight. The strawberries were good too, but nothing too special.
Overall, a really nice experience and worth visiting for the atmosphere and hot chocolate alone.

A brunch experience like a true Parisian. We enjoyed their Signature brunch which was accompanied with thick and pure Hot Chocolate, eggs, parfait with blue berries and granola and fresh juice of your choice - grapefruit for us. We couldn’t believe how manicured each little dish was. We also got the roasted potatoes, and they were a buttery delight.

Charming Parisian café with a classic atmosphere and a prime Trocadéro location. The crêpes were light and delicious, especially with fresh berries, and the hot chocolate was rich and comforting. A lovely spot for a relaxed breakfast or dessert.

Stopped by La Parisienne for a croissant while exploring Paris. The croissant was fresh, flaky, and very tasty—exactly what I was hoping for from a local Parisian bakery. My go to daily bakery. Evening baguettes Tradition are out just before 4pm. Baguette cereal only in the mornings - don’t get them for the evening. Staff speaks English but please start with a Bonjour. Fresh tarts/pies are displayed cut and displayed whole. Get those as they are made that day. Other tarts are kept on the shelf’s until it is sold and can sit for a few days in the open. Lunch lines are long but move fast. Make sure you take a look at what you want before getting in line. Breakfast lines can be long between 9 and 10am but moves fast.

Great place to have breakfast and brunch!!!
This bakery has many reasons to be voted for 5 stars:
- Great variety of pastries (Try the almond croissant)
- Vintage environment reminding something from old Paris times
- Great location near the Eiffel Tower
- The staff is very kind and helpful
- There are tables to eat in, which is something you can’t find easily in Paris
- Fresh & tasty bread baguette
It was my first experience eating in Paris and I am happy for that!

First off the ladies at the counter were quite rude, they laughed at us when we didn’t understand something they said, and we asked them what was in one of their pastries and they barely answered super vaguely. The cappuccino didn’t taste like coffee and the hot chocolate wasn’t good. Prices were decent and the pastries were good. Place is cute though.

Tasty coffee, wide choice of pastries, nice vibe, they put our croissants on dirty board, not even on a napkin. No WC. Eclaires are not in the refridgerator.

This place is legit for traditional baguette. We stayed close by and found this place on Google map. We stopped by and it didn’t disappoint. It’s simple mom&pop French bakery that does not have pretty store but they make very good bakery. We got baguette, a croissant and a drink for $4Euroes. We also got eclair and lemon meringue to go. They were all very good and really good price. If you look for great French bakery, I highly recommend.

First time we went in the afternoon, saw there was a small queue in the shop and didn't go in. We did see a few people locals carrying bread out from this shop while we were walking around. So on our last day in Paris, we went to the shop just after the opened. There was no queue, I tried my best to order in French but the person taking my order speaks English. Other than croissant, we also got a chocolate and pistachio pastry. I am not a connoisseur of croissant, At 1.20 Eur for each, they taste just as good if not better than the ones that we got in the city.

A Truly Romantic Parisian Morning at Frédéric Sicard Bakery
What a perfect start to a day in the City of Love! My morning visit to Frédéric Sicard Bakery (Le Fils de Boulanger Sicard) was everything a classic Parisian experience should be—simple, authentic, and utterly charming.
The fresh air, the quiet street on Avenue de Suffren, and the cozy outdoor terrace set the stage for a truly romantic breakfast.
The star of the show was the food and drink:
• The Sandwich: The baguette sandwich (I had the [You can insert a type like jambon-beurre or poulet here, or keep it general]) was absolutely delightful. The baguette was crusty on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside, with fresh, high-quality ingredients. It was the epitome of a perfect Parisian lunchtime staple.
• The Espresso: Paired with the sandwich, the espresso was a rich, fragrant, and delicious little cup of joy. It was perfectly pulled and delivered that aromatic, bold flavor needed to kickstart a romantic morning of sightseeing.
Sitting here, watching the city slowly come to life, felt like stepping into a movie. If you're looking for a quiet, delicious, and genuinely Parisian spot near the Eiffel Tower, this boulangerie-patisserie is a must-visit. The ambiance is relaxed, the service is friendly, and the quality is outstanding. Highly recommended!

AMERICAN TOURIST in PARIS: If you’re a tourist this place is 5-star! All the other reviews are wrong, stay with me, here’s why…
I’m from Chicago, and I brought my family of six for a last leg of a long vacation to Paris for 3 days. We stayed right around the corner from this bakery and I stumbled upon it early the first morning right around the corner from my hotel. My wife wanted croissants so I was on a mission. Luckily this place didn’t pop on my Google search or I wouldn’t have gone due to the reviews…. I went to Frederic Sicard Bakery EVERY MORNING!
Yes, the ladies at the counter are a bit “rude”, yes they don’t speak English well, yes the lines are long and the staff is stressed, but it’s because as a tourist, THIS IS WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR!!!!
It’s what I would consider authentic French pastries and as a tourist this is what I want. They were AMAZING and the atmosphere was if I were local, and as a visitor in their country I tried to blend in as a local. I’m 100% American but when visiting other countries I do not and should not expect them to be even 1% American. If you worked at Starbucks in America could you take my order in 100% French when the line was long and you got up at 4am? Would you seem slightly miffed or stressed?? I know I would!
Don’t miss this place!!! The food is AMAZING and the attitude and atmosphere are exactly what a true tourist should look for! All you see in these pics + 1 latte and 1 cappuccino not picture was only €27!!!
This is my last morning in Paris and I wanted to thank the hard working ladies at Frederic Sicard Bakery for making my pastry breakfasts something to remember!

The pastries were amazing, delightful in fact. Coming from former master chef enjoyers from Finland and Australia we were surprisingly impressed. Although… drilling first thing in the morning with no music is brutal. Didn’t know coffee machines ran that loud. Could maybe make the tables less long.

I won’t come back to this place. Food was prepared days in advance so do not expect good food.
Also, the owner was rude and helpless when asking for help for our daughter.

If you’re in Paris, Liberté Pâtisserie is a must.
I came here on my last trip a few times and had to bring my daughter back this time. It’s still my favorite pâtisserie I’ve tried in Paris so far. The location is lovely, everything feels incredibly fresh, and the croissants are some of the best I’ve had.
I’ve tried a few different things on the menu and everything has been consistently good. I also love sitting outside on the bench, it’s such a simple but perfect spot to slow down for a bit.
They have great drink options too, including non-caffeinated choices, which I really appreciate.
For me, it’s just one of those places that does everything right.
Sam_Travels★★★★★
They offer many options with great coffee service. The staff was very friendly and nice! You can also sit and enjoy your breakfast for a small extra fee. The portion was quite generous, it was so heavy that I couldn’t finish my first one and had to take the rest to go. The prices are also reasonable; my friend and I paid less than €30 in total.

Walked over a mile based on some review and was disappointed. Had vegetarian sandwich and cappuccino. The baguette was tough so wondering if it was fresh made that day! Cappuccino was okay. Wouldn’t recommend! Most people were buying pastries and not many sandwich choices!
Mama Noni★★★★★
Stopped in for the dine-in lunch deal (€10.90 for a sandwich, drink, and dessert) and was instantly impressed. The place was buzzing with a steady stream of happy customers, and it’s easy to see why. The breads and pastries are some of the best I’ve tasted — fresh, buttery, and beautifully made. The selection of desserts is incredible, and the madeleine is hands down the tastiest, melt-in-your-mouth one I’ve ever had. Excellent quality, lovely atmosphere… I think I’ve just found my new favourite spot! Can’t seem to upload a video of the selection but other reviews on here are representative.
Other useful info:
Mainly take away. Very small sitting area but there’s also a bench outside. Only major downside is that there’s not a toilet for customers.

Insider Tips for Visiting Parisian Bakeries
Navigating the etiquette and timing of a Parisian bakery can be as important as choosing the right pastry. A little local knowledge ensures you get the freshest products and the warmest service, even during the busy tourist rush near the tower.
1. Ask for the “Tradition”
Always request the baguette de tradition rather than a standard baguette. French law dictates that the “tradition” can only contain flour, water, salt, and yeast—no additives or frozen dough. It is almost always baked on-site and offers a deeper flavor and better crust.
2. Timing is Everything
The best time for pastries like croissants and pains au chocolat is between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM when they are still warm from the oven. For bread, return around 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM when the second batch of the day is baked for the dinner rush.
3. Handle with Care
Do not grab pastries with your hands. Even if there are tongs available, it is customary to point and let the baker select the item for you. They take immense pride in the visual perfection of their displays; touching the merchandise is considered a faux pas.
4. Say “Bonjour” First
This is non-negotiable. Always greet the staff with a clear “Bonjour” the moment you enter the shop. If you skip this greeting, you will likely receive curt service. A polite “Merci, bonne journée” (Thank you, have a good day) when leaving is equally important.
5. Bring Cash and a Reusable Bag
While most shops accept cards, some smaller artisans have a minimum spend for credit cards. Carrying a few euros in coins is helpful. Additionally, bringing a lightweight cloth tote bag prevents your flaky croissants from getting crushed in a backpack and reduces paper waste.
The beauty of these bakeries lies in their fleeting nature; the perfect croissant exists only for a few hours before it cools and softens. Do not wait until the end of your trip to try everything on your list. Space out your visits, perhaps grabbing a chausson aux pommes for a mid-morning walk along the Seine and a slice of flan for an afternoon break.
As the sun sets behind the Trocadéro and the tower begins its hourly sparkle, there is no better companion than a crusty baguette and a delicate fruit tart from one of these local masters. It transforms a simple sightseeing trip into a genuine immersion into the Parisian art de vivre.
