12 Best Cheap Hotels in Saint-Tropez

Finding a place to stay in Saint-Tropez often feels like a test of your credit card limit. The legendary French Riviera village, synonymous with superyachts and champagne-soaked beach clubs, is notoriously one of the most expensive postal codes in Europe. However, the allure of its cobblestone lanes, the artistic legacy of the Place des Lices, and the turquoise waters of Pampelonne Beach draw travelers of all budgets, not just the jet-set elite.

The secret to visiting this glamorous peninsula without emptying your savings account lies in knowing where to look. While the harborfront may demand four-figure nightly rates, the surrounding areas and the village outskirts offer a surprising array of budget-friendly accommodations. From charming family-run guesthouses to functional modern hotels, affordable comfort does exist if you are willing to trade a sea-view balcony for a short shuttle ride or a pleasant walk.

Timing is also a critical component of your budget strategy. Visiting during the shoulder seasons of late spring or early autumn allows you to experience the same sparkling Mediterranean atmosphere at a fraction of the high-summer prices. By combining a strategic location with a sensible travel date, you can allocate more of your budget toward experiencing the region’s incredible cuisine and vibrant culture rather than just sleeping in it.

We have scoured the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to find lodging options that prioritize value without sacrificing cleanliness, location, or charm. Whether you are a solo backpacker looking for a private room, a couple on a romantic getaway, or a family needing a practical base, this list proves that Saint-Tropez is accessible to everyone. You do not need a movie star’s salary to enjoy the magic of the French Riviera.

Below, we break down the best affordable hotels that offer a genuine sense of place, comfortable amenities, and easy access to the iconic sights. These selections are based on consistent guest reviews, reasonable seasonal pricing, and their proximity to public transport or the village center, ensuring you get the most out of your visit.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Les Capucines! The rooms are gorgeous, and the pool area is incredible. A special shoutout to Claudio for his exceptional and attentive service. We will definitely be coming back! Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Les Capucines. Everything was perfect — exceptionally clean, excellent location, and outstanding service. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and we truly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!
Attila Doğan★★★★★
I unfortunately took no pictures but this place is wonderful. The staff are amazing, you are close enough to St Tropez to gout but far away to enjoy some silence. Truly amazing - we will be back!

Excellent. Wonderful rooms. Beautiful pool and bar. The service was amazing and such nice people. We will definitely be back!

The rooms, the pool and the staff are nice. But the hotel is overpriced. Make sure you catch a low price. They have dynamic prices and they tend to vary a lot.

A comfortable room with all the needed amenities and scrupulously clean. The shower was excellent, bed was OK. Staff were very friendly and helpful, ensuring we had storage for our bicycles. We had booked a room with a balcony which we weren’t able to use as our room faced an extremely busy street with industrial traffic (large trucks). The room, however, was very quiet because of two sliding doors leading onto the balcony. The hotel is located about a 10 minute into the old town centre, making it easy to access restaurants and is a 2 minute to the waterfront.
Simon Ayres★★★★★
Lovely hotel, and probably the most friendly staff I've experienced. I got a very warm welcome, and everything was clean tidy, and the room was perfect for me. I had the breakfast which was reasonably priced and delicious. Thank you.
Catharine Parkes★★★★★
We turned up unexpectedly after an awful day. The person on reception was amazing - she was so helpful. We had to make a decision on our next travel steps - she rang local taxi companies and worked out what options we had. At the time, we were ever so grateful. Yes, we ended up staying, had a wonderful dinner in the town and enjoyed a lovely evening. Thank you! The hotel did its job perfectly. It was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed.
Tim Martin★★★★★
This is a really good hotel. I’ve been several times and it has never disappointed: friendly reception, clean and comfortable room, excellent breakfast. But maybe its greatest asset — in a world where finding a place to park a car means stress and expense — is its on-site parking facility. Leave the car and walk ten minutes into the centre of St Maxime, which is delightful.
Yoni Greiner★★★★★
Wonderful hotel, staff and location! We enjoyed this leg of our trip, while we went during their slow season, we were very well taken care of by the concierge at the front desk. The location is a 1 minute walk to the waterfront. The room was spacious and clean. We stayed up late and ordered room service which was fast and excellent.

No ac at front desk, Frontdesk just stepped out, came back to show us 5 minutes later to show a antisanitary room in the basement advertised as superior triple. Owner is refusing to refund even though booked 30minutes ago ! Flee infested property. I dont know where these picture are coming from - they are maybe 20 years old !

Great location right on the route de littoral but sometimes a lot of traffic to get into Saint Tropez Great rooms with outdoor table Very quiet Nice pool Very friendly and welcoming staff

We booked last minute because they still had some rooms available. We booked this hotel because of the good google ratings, but were really suprised once we arrived. Our bedding was covered in stains, the room smelled musty and it was super dirty. We could hear the conversation of the our neighbors. Cant recommend at all and dont know why this place good such good raitings on google.

Great little place, low-key and out-of-the-way from the other busier motels. Comfortable rooms, pleasant environment, great view for breakfast and lovely staff, what more could you ask for. Thanks for a great experience

We stayed in the hotel for 1 night. It is old and in desperate need for refurbishment. Extremely overpriced for what it offers, not even a small bottle of water in the room. Agreed to pay with Cheque Vacance at the time of booking but the payment was taken from the payment card prior to our arrival. The lady in the reception super rude and unwelcoming, refused us to take breakfast before 8h despite it being a simple buffet. The only convenient thing is the location, close to the city centre and the pier from where the boats for St. Tropez are leaving. Otherwise a horrific place, avoid if you can.
Robbie C★★★★★
A genuine gem in Sainte-Maxime. They welcomed me like family from the moment I arrived — itinerary tips over breakfast, restaurant recommendations exactly suited to what I was looking for, and the kind of warmth you simply don’t get at chain hotels. Rooms are spotless, AC works beautifully, and the homemade breakfast is a daily highlight. Five-minute walk to the Saint-Tropez ferry. Will absolutely return.
Veli★☆☆☆☆
Very rude lady at the reception. First she said there is a room available. After I have asked more details in English she nervously and sudenly said she does not have any room. Maybe she is polite only to French people-I am surprised anyone gives any star for politeness here. Anyways found much better place nearby. Cannot understand someone like this lady works in this industry, never experienced such a rude employee at any hotel so far.
Barn Dad★☆☆☆☆
Traveler beware. Booked 10 days with them and when I showed up the hotel was closed, doors were locked. It was 19:00, tried to call no answer. Ended up having to book VRBO with one week minimum to have a place to sleep that night. Called the next day and was unwilling to work with me. Called my booking company and they claimed they sent me message but that was false. Refused any kind of refund, etc. Confirmation says to make arrangements if arriving after 21:00. Cannot be trusted
John Cortese★★★★★
There are so so so many things to like about this hotel. I'll name a few (and I'll save the best for last): 1. They get the basics right. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, and air conditioning (I'm American and the AC is up to our standards, which is rare to find in France and many places in Europe)! 2. The location is excellent. Easily accessible and in the heart of town. You can also easily take a ferry over to St. Tropez if you want by walking about 5-10 minutes along the waterfront to the ferry terminal from the hotel. 3. They have a quaint courtyard in the lobby area which is nice to sit in and have breakfast in the morning, which is by the way delicious and filled with plenty of options from coffee, tea, juice, water, yogurt, fresh French bread & croissants, cheese, ham, eggs, tarts and even a homeade bread by one of the two owners. 4. The best part about this hotel were the owners. They made us feel like we were a part of their family and made us feel right at home. As soon as we checked in, they helped us find the best beach club based on our interests, they made us reservations for dinner (and the place was exceptional), they gave us instructions on the local transit, they sat and chatted with us to get to know us better and so much more. I travel extensively for work and pleasure (France is my 16th country visited just in 2025) and although I am not staying at the Ritz when travelling, this was by far the best experience I had in a hotel all year. The owners are extremely passionate about their small hotel and it truly shows. I recommend their hotel immensely!

Location is very Nice, close to the beach. Nice atmosphere in hotel and Rooms. Even had a Small swimming pool on the roof. Rooms are a bit Small (at last the room we tot). We booked for 3 persons , but the room seemed to be a rather Small room for 2 persons, with an extra bed in it. Hardly room to place our bags.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Le Lauriers. It has all the charm of a beautiful family home, right in the heart of Saint-Tropez, yet it’s tucked away just enough to escape the crowds and noise. You’re only a couple of minutes’ walk from everything, but it feels like a peaceful oasis. The hotel is family-run, and that really shows. Everyone makes you feel genuinely welcome, as though you’re staying with friends rather than at a hotel. Breakfast in the garden each morning was a real highlight and the whole place has a relaxed, stylish atmosphere. If you’re deciding between staying here or in a large, anonymous five-star hotel, I’d choose Hotel Le Lauriers every time. It has character, warmth and personality that money simply can’t buy. Highly recommended.
Seerat Mann★★★★★
The hotel is centrally located and very neat and clean. The team was very helpful with any questions or queries. Also for two female travellers, it is very safe. Will recommend!

Great and easy experience. About a 12 minute walk from the port. Great location right by the Saturday market. Staff was excellent. Rooms aren’t big but are enough without huge suitcases, and bathroom is plenty big. AC kept it very cool at night and the automatic shutters helped for sleeping in. Everything in the room was spotless clean. Nice bed, blankets, and comforter, and plenty of extra pillows already in the room if needed which I like.
Zara Durrani★★★★★
A beautiful boutique hideaway right in the heart of the village. My stay was peaceful, stylish, and wonderfully authentic close to everything. The staff and the owner were extremely warm and welcoming, and breakfast in the garden felt quintessentially Riviera. Highly recommend for anyone seeking understated Saint-Tropez charm.

Beautiful hotel with magnificient staff. Charming rooms. The place, the feelings, close to everything. In the heart of Saint Tropez. The owner runs the neighboring restaurant. The kitchen is fantastic there, too! You should try it.

For $700+ per night at a four-star hotel, I expected much better. The towels and robes were rough and fraying, and providing only a 2-in-1 shampoo with no conditioner is unacceptable at this price point. The walls were paper-thin, and we were woken up multiple times during the night and early morning by loud neighbors. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the location was great, but the room quality and amenities didn’t justify the cost. It was more aligned with a two to three star hotel rather than 4 stars.
Helga Lodewyck★★★★★
We loved our stay here. The hotel is located in a quiet area just outside Saint‑Tropez, which makes it perfect for relaxing. Being an adults‑only hotel is a real plus. The large jacuzzi was one of our favourite features — big enough to swim around in, which we appreciated since we’re not fans of cold swimming pools. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh options, far beyond the typical French breakfast. Our room was spacious and had a nice terrace. We also enjoyed the wellness area and the free private parking. The only thing we missed was a slightly wider choice of dishes in the restaurant. Overall: we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be coming back.
Mary Seats★★★★★
This hotel was absolutely beautiful , the service was remarkable and it’s my new favorite hotel in St Tropez, so close to everything but still in a world of its own. Ubers were only $10 and $13 euro to get into town.

Please stay away from this hotel we had a terrible experience air conditioning and fridge didn’t work in 34c heat It’s damp and dirty not well looked after Seems more like a 2 * hotel people staying in hotel was drinking too much fighting and screaming until early hours of the morning no security felt unsafe

The hotel is in a wonderful location; the staff members are extremely helpful, professional and respectful; and the breakfast is definitely worth the 16.00 euro. The breakfast buffet consists of unlimited coffee, juice, scrambled eggs, different meats and breads, mini waffles, cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, and delicious muffins. The restaurant staff are extremely friendly, too!

What a beautiful stay at this charming hotel! Perfect for lovers of authentic places, it’s extremely well located and full of character. The bedrooms are cute, clean, and very comfortable. The menu may be small, but it’s excellent (especially the pinsa!). The staff were always friendly, attentive, and happy to answer any of our questions. Highly recommend!
Veronika Zagura★★☆☆☆
Terrible service -- the waiter/the manager was extremely rude to our polite simple requests (in French) such as asking for the dirty table to be cleaned and for the menus to be taken off the table. The requests were met with impatience and the lack of understanding and as if that's not part of their job description. The food was good though the menu was limited with only pizzas on it and the horrible service ruined the overall experience.
Bárbara Fernandes de Souza★☆☆☆☆
The lady using glasses working on the bar's interior is extremely rude and useless, sitting inside the whole day smoking, and being very rude to customers. We were having a drink in the bar, we went inside to go to the toilet, I asked to her where was the toilet and she replied to me extremely rude and appointed a public restroom on the street, I wondered if they did not had one, she said very loud “only for customers” and I told her “of course I am a customer!” If she is not watching the garden to see who the customers are, she should kindly ask them where they are coming from, before being rude and impolite. So, I definitely do not recommend it!
Carlos Moro★★☆☆☆
Location is good, but that's about the only positive thing about this hotel. Rooms are small and outdated, bed is not comfortable, no shower head (only hand shower and a tub). How do French people take showers like this? Or maybe they don't? Breakfast is horrible. Literally a piece of bread, butter and some industrialized fruit compote. They call it "Continental Breakfast" which is an insult to other Continental Breakfasts.
Vegamese Lifestyle★★★★☆
Saint-Tropez is expensive, so accommodation as well, this was the cheapest hotel for about 220 eu per night. This 3-star hotel is well located, just across the Place des Lices where you have the bi-weekly farmer's market on Saturday and Tuesday and is close to the night life spots. Also walking distance to the harbour full with shops and restaurants/bars, and the beach. Had a big room with a filled minibar, was clean, spacious and the best thing was it was on the ground floor, so no stairs to be walked up. The lady with whom checked in and out is very kind, thank you for the good service and kindness even after checking out 30 minutes later than checkout time.

The hotel staff at Saint Maxime Montfleuri are so accommodating, welcoming and wonderful. They made our experience 10/10. Combined with the beautiful surroundings and hotel grounds themselves, it makes for a very peaceful and lovely stay. We were upgraded to a room with our own private elevator and windows atop our bed so we could look out at the stars at night. So memorable. Thank you!

Great cozy hotel. 10 minutes walk from the center of the town. 100m away from the sea. Small rooms but clean and cozy. Parking available on the street but spots limited later in the day. Nice pool area for kids to play in.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms are stylish, comfortable, and really pleasant to be in. The beds were super comfy, and I slept really well every night. Breakfast had everything I wanted and was nicely done. Overall, I was really happy with my stay and would definitely come back.
Melissa★★☆☆☆
It’s truly unfortunate, as the hotel itself is beautiful and most of the staff were professional and courteous. However, my experience with the receptionist named MAIDA was unacceptable. Her behavior was confrontational, unhelpful, and outright rude — completely out of place in any hospitality setting. Customer experience is the foundation of any hotel, and someone with such a negative and hostile attitude should not be in a front-facing role. Her conduct not only ruined the experience but also reflects poorly on the entire establishment. I had intended to return to this stunning property, but due to the lack of proper staff training and the unprofessional behavior I encountered, I will be choosing another hotel in the future. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue and prioritizes training in customer service — the hotel has great potential, but experiences like this are unacceptable.
Victoria Lebedeva★★★★★
Beautiful hotel, clean spacious rooms, nice pool area. If you are looking to stay in Saint maxime central, it is 5-7 minutes walk. They have a parking on property, but book in advance, otherwise in high season really complicated to find it. Sea view is really worth it, very serine hotel.

The staff were superb, very friendly and welcoming. The rooms had an excellent layout and were clean and freshly decorated. An outside umbrella would have been appreciated as the afternoon sun was fierce on the patio. We found the pillows were a bit small and hard but I’m sure if we had mentioned them the staff would have responded appropriately. Wonderful stay!

Perfect holiday resort. It‘s cosy and very clean and perfect for an unforgettable stay. We enjoyed it so much two years ago we will be coming again next summer. Especially the Maison a terra - are very new holiday home, so perfect for a family with two teens. Honestly, it‘s one of the best locations I‘ve ever been so far.

This place is magnificent! My little vila was super.. nice bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen.. plus a nice outside garden area. The bed was super comfortable. Around the hotel area was super nice. The breakfast needs a bit more love, but there are plenty amazing bakeries near by. It took us 20 min to walk to St Tropez town. It was our workout every morning! Location is amazing. Close to all the amazing beach clubs and restaurants in St Tropez and ramatuelle. I will for sure come back!!
Ed H★★★★★
This is my new favourite spot in St Tropez. Very close to all the attractions, staggered in between town and the beach clubs, this location is quiet but still as close as you can get to all the action. All the rooms are unique with a nice patio and lots of privacy. Breakfast every morning is beautiful by the pool, wait staff is wonderful plus there’s parking. Front desk goes above and beyond to meet every request and ensure guests have the best stay. We will definitely be staying here again. We came for our honeymoon but will consider co Into back as a larger family or with friend.

I almost don’t want to write this review, so that it stays a hidden gem, but they deserve a review. The resort is centrally located (5 minutes from beaches in Ramatuelle and 5 minutes from the port). Our suite was so spacious and beautiful, which included a full kitchen, living room and seperate bathroom for toilet and shower. I love the modern clean aesthetic, but it also felt comfortable and homey. Powerful AC in the bedroom and another for the living room. I did not make it to the pool, but my friend said it was very nice with waters and sandwiches stocked nearby. Wonderful experience staying here

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The hotel is nice, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The entrance is also secure, with a large decorative metal gate. We had dinner at the hotel and really enjoyed the food—it was delicious! The outdoor pool is large and very nice, which made it a great place to relax. We also had a massage, which was very good and professionally done. The main area for improvement would be the Wi-Fi, as the signal is not available everywhere in the hotel. Overall, a lovely stay with great facilities and friendly staff. We would be happy to come back!
Ana Benedik★★★★★
We had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend this hotel. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. The breakfast was also a pleasant surprise, with a wide selection of options, including delicious homemade pastries. For €16, it offers excellent value. One of our favorite features was the beautiful path through the botanical garden leading directly to the beach. On hot summer days, it feels absolutely magical and makes the whole experience even more special. There are only a few small areas that could be improved. The Wi-Fi has to be improved, the connection was not so good - my boyfriend couldn’t work there (home office) 😞. Otherwise for scrolling etc..was good. The gym is quite small and could benefit from some updates, and during a storm we noticed water dripping from the roof above the indoor pool area. For breakfast, it could be nice to include even more local specialties and fresh regional fruit, which would make an already great experience even better. Overall, however, everything was exactly as it should be: friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast, and a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly return. Merci beaucoup pour votre accueil chaleureux ! À bientôt, nous l’espérons. 🇫🇷

We came back for a fourth year in a row. This time the service was much better than other years. Staff at the restaurant was excellent, special thanks to Paul and Clement for their cheerful attitude. Rooms are all lovely and silent. Beautiful garden and the pool. All clean. Nice parking. Mediterranean garden all around. Some rooms have view of the golf of Saint Tropez.I already miss this place. If i could, i would stay there for a month.

It’s a huge resort. the pool is lovely. The downside is that it’s not near anything- no cafes or shops.

Tips for Booking Cheap Hotels in Saint-Tropez

Securing a great deal in Saint-Tropez requires a bit of strategy and flexibility. While the destination is inherently expensive, savvy travelers know that rates fluctuate wildly based on the calendar and the specific micro-location. By understanding the local geography and booking culture, you can significantly reduce your accommodation overhead and potentially upgrade your experience for the same price.

Book Early for Peak Season, But Late for Deals
If you must travel in July or August, availability is scarce, and prices only go up as dates approach. Book six months in advance to lock in the lowest possible rate. Conversely, if you are flexible, waiting until a few weeks before a shoulder-season date can yield last-minute discounts as hotels try to fill empty rooms.

Embrace the "Hinterland" and Neighboring Villages
Staying directly on the port is where budgets go to die. Look for hotels in the La Bouillabaisse area, or slightly inland in villages like Gassin or Ramatuelle. These areas are often connected by a reliable local bus service or offer free parking, making the short commute well worth the savings.

Look for "Continental Breakfast" Fine Print
Some budget hotels in France offer a very low room rate but charge a high fee for breakfast. Before booking, check if breakfast is included. If it is an extra €15 to €20 per person, you are often better off walking to a local boulangerie for a fresh croissant and coffee, which will cost you a fraction of the price and offer a more authentic local experience.

Leverage Free Cancellation Rates
Hotel pricing in Saint-Tropez is dynamic. A room might be expensive one week and drop the next due to a cancellation. Book a room with a "free cancellation" policy as a safety net, then set a calendar reminder to check rates again a month before your trip. If you find the same hotel cheaper, cancel and rebook.

Prioritize Air Conditioning and Parking
In the summer heat, a cheap room without air conditioning can be miserable. Similarly, if you are driving a rental car, parking in Saint-Tropez can cost over €30 a day. A slightly higher room rate at a hotel that offers free private parking and reliable A/C often represents the true "cheapest" option when you calculate the total cost of your stay.

Saint-Tropez remains a dream destination, and with a little foresight, it does not have to be a financially ruinous one. The key is to view your hotel as a clean, comfortable place to rest your head rather than the centerpiece of your trip. The real magic of this region lies in the public squares, the coastal paths, and the spontaneous moments you will find wandering the old port.

By choosing one of the affordable options above and utilizing smart booking tactics, you free up your wallet for what truly matters: a long lunch overlooking the water, a boat trip to the calanques, or a souvenir from the local market. Enjoy the glamour of the Riviera, and spend your money on memories rather than just a mattress.
