12 Best Hotels in Saint-Tropez

Finding the right place to stay in Saint-Tropez is about more than just securing a bed; it is about curating an experience. This iconic village on the French Riviera has long been synonymous with glamour, art, and the art of living well. From the cobblestone lanes of the old port to the legendary beaches of Pampelonne, the atmosphere shifts from quaint Provençal charm to high-energy luxury within minutes.

Choosing a hotel here determines the rhythm of your visit. Do you wish to wake up to the gentle clinking of masts in the harbor, or do you prefer the seclusion of a pine-scented garden suite steps from the Mediterranean? The diversity of accommodation is vast, ranging from intimate family-run hideaways to sprawling five-star palaces that define Riviera excess.

This guide focuses on properties that offer distinct value, exceptional locations, and authentic Saint-Tropez character. We have weighed factors such as proximity to the Place des Lices, private beach access, architectural heritage, and the quality of on-site dining. Whether you are planning a romantic escape, a family holiday, or a solo retreat to soak up the Riviera sun, there is a perfect match for your needs.

Price points vary dramatically depending on the season, with July and August representing the absolute peak. Booking well in advance is essential if you want to secure a room with a view or a spot at a beach club. However, the shoulder seasons of May, June, and September offer glorious weather with slightly more breathing room.

The following selections represent the pinnacle of hospitality in this legendary destination. Each property brings something unique to the table, ensuring that your stay is not just comfortable, but truly memorable. We have focused on hotels that consistently deliver high standards of service and maintain the unique aesthetic that makes Saint-Tropez so beloved.

This hotel is a dream. It is the most affordable hotel yet incredible hotel. The pool area is iconic. It’s picturesque. I’m still thinking about it a year later. Small boutique hotel. If you are lucky enough they have availability, stay here!!!
Millie★★★★★
This is a gem , we loved staying one night here before we went to our villa , will definitely stay again and for longer . It is very relaxed and welcoming.
Ana★★★★☆
We love this small beautiful hotel in the heart of Saint Tropez. The service is great and the whole atmosphere is French chic. It is run by a family and you can feel it the details.
Monika aan de Stegge★★★★★
Hôtel des Lices is a wonderful hotel with a swimming pool and an excellent restaurant, located in a quiet area just off the town centre. Only a few steps from Place des Lices and the market, and just a little further from the lively harbour. Simply wonderful.
Simon Greiner★★★★★
We have been fortunate enough to stay at Hotel Des Lices for over 10 years during the Voiles de St Tropez regatta. It is an oasis of calm yet still close to the hustle and bustle of central St Tropez. We have always had excellent service, attentive and friendly, we are made to feel like part of their family. Always great tasting and innovative food in the hotel restaurant which is elegant but still has a casual friendly atmosphere. We can thoroughly recommend the hotel and its owners/staff. As long as we race in the voiles we will always stay here. That’s why we have to remember to re-book before we leave each year. Thank you.

For $700+ per night at a four-star hotel, I expected much better. The towels and robes were rough and fraying, and providing only a 2-in-1 shampoo with no conditioner is unacceptable at this price point. The walls were paper-thin, and we were woken up multiple times during the night and early morning by loud neighbors. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the location was great, but the room quality and amenities didn’t justify the cost. It was more aligned with a two to three star hotel rather than 4 stars.
Helga Lodewyck★★★★★
We loved our stay here. The hotel is located in a quiet area just outside Saint‑Tropez, which makes it perfect for relaxing. Being an adults‑only hotel is a real plus. The large jacuzzi was one of our favourite features — big enough to swim around in, which we appreciated since we’re not fans of cold swimming pools. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh options, far beyond the typical French breakfast. Our room was spacious and had a nice terrace. We also enjoyed the wellness area and the free private parking. The only thing we missed was a slightly wider choice of dishes in the restaurant. Overall: we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be coming back.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful , the service was remarkable and it’s my new favorite hotel in St Tropez, so close to everything but still in a world of its own. Ubers were only $10 and $13 euro to get into town.

Please stay away from this hotel we had a terrible experience air conditioning and fridge didn’t work in 34c heat It’s damp and dirty not well looked after Seems more like a 2 * hotel people staying in hotel was drinking too much fighting and screaming until early hours of the morning no security felt unsafe

I stayed here in August, and the location is amazing, so close to town. The staff were fantastic, especially Jodi, as I left an item in the hotel room and he organised for it to be sent back, which was greatly appreciated
Nitram Notrub★★★★★
A British reviewer. This hotel is wonderful, everything about it, from the beautifully kept growns, the modern room and the attentive staff, what an amazing place, the location is 8 minutes walk from the harbour so what more could you ask for.

Perfect boutique hotel in the center of town. Staff were very helpful and made us feel at home. Parking available. Great breakfast.

This hotel was absolutely delightful. The staff was friendly. The rooms were cute and just perfect so I would definitely give us a great recommendation.
Martin W★★★★☆
Beautiful hotel in a great location, an easy walk from the port or town centre. Our room was clean if a little small although the bathroom was a good size. The pool was nice and the waiter there was attentive. The main negative for us was that the air con unit in our room was making an intermittent grinding noise, even after being turned off which disturbed our sleep. Only stayed 1 night but when we informed them the next morning someone went straight off to check it so hopefully that was resolved for the next occupant

The staff were superb, very friendly and welcoming. The rooms had an excellent layout and were clean and freshly decorated. An outside umbrella would have been appreciated as the afternoon sun was fierce on the patio. We found the pillows were a bit small and hard but I’m sure if we had mentioned them the staff would have responded appropriately. Wonderful stay!

Perfect holiday resort. It‘s cosy and very clean and perfect for an unforgettable stay. We enjoyed it so much two years ago we will be coming again next summer. Especially the Maison a terra - are very new holiday home, so perfect for a family with two teens. Honestly, it‘s one of the best locations I‘ve ever been so far.

This place is magnificent! My little vila was super.. nice bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen.. plus a nice outside garden area. The bed was super comfortable. Around the hotel area was super nice. The breakfast needs a bit more love, but there are plenty amazing bakeries near by. It took us 20 min to walk to St Tropez town. It was our workout every morning! Location is amazing. Close to all the amazing beach clubs and restaurants in St Tropez and ramatuelle. I will for sure come back!!
Ed H★★★★★
This is my new favourite spot in St Tropez. Very close to all the attractions, staggered in between town and the beach clubs, this location is quiet but still as close as you can get to all the action. All the rooms are unique with a nice patio and lots of privacy. Breakfast every morning is beautiful by the pool, wait staff is wonderful plus there’s parking. Front desk goes above and beyond to meet every request and ensure guests have the best stay. We will definitely be staying here again. We came for our honeymoon but will consider co Into back as a larger family or with friend.
Karina KP★★★★★
I almost don’t want to write this review, so that it stays a hidden gem, but they deserve a review. The resort is centrally located (5 minutes from beaches in Ramatuelle and 5 minutes from the port). Our suite was so spacious and beautiful, which included a full kitchen, living room and seperate bathroom for toilet and shower. I love the modern clean aesthetic, but it also felt comfortable and homey. Powerful AC in the bedroom and another for the living room. I did not make it to the pool, but my friend said it was very nice with waters and sandwiches stocked nearby. Wonderful experience staying here

What a beautiful stay at this charming hotel! Perfect for lovers of authentic places, it’s extremely well located and full of character. The bedrooms are cute, clean, and very comfortable. The menu may be small, but it’s excellent (especially the pinsa!). The staff were always friendly, attentive, and happy to answer any of our questions. Highly recommend!
Veronika Zagura★★☆☆☆
Terrible service -- the waiter/the manager was extremely rude to our polite simple requests (in French) such as asking for the dirty table to be cleaned and for the menus to be taken off the table. The requests were met with impatience and the lack of understanding and as if that's not part of their job description. The food was good though the menu was limited with only pizzas on it and the horrible service ruined the overall experience.
Bárbara Fernandes de Souza★☆☆☆☆
The lady using glasses working on the bar's interior is extremely rude and useless, sitting inside the whole day smoking, and being very rude to customers. We were having a drink in the bar, we went inside to go to the toilet, I asked to her where was the toilet and she replied to me extremely rude and appointed a public restroom on the street, I wondered if they did not had one, she said very loud “only for customers” and I told her “of course I am a customer!” If she is not watching the garden to see who the customers are, she should kindly ask them where they are coming from, before being rude and impolite. So, I definitely do not recommend it!
Carlos Moro★★☆☆☆
Location is good, but that's about the only positive thing about this hotel. Rooms are small and outdated, bed is not comfortable, no shower head (only hand shower and a tub). How do French people take showers like this? Or maybe they don't? Breakfast is horrible. Literally a piece of bread, butter and some industrialized fruit compote. They call it "Continental Breakfast" which is an insult to other Continental Breakfasts.
Vegamese Lifestyle★★★★☆
Saint-Tropez is expensive, so accommodation as well, this was the cheapest hotel for about 220 eu per night. This 3-star hotel is well located, just across the Place des Lices where you have the bi-weekly farmer's market on Saturday and Tuesday and is close to the night life spots. Also walking distance to the harbour full with shops and restaurants/bars, and the beach. Had a big room with a filled minibar, was clean, spacious and the best thing was it was on the ground floor, so no stairs to be walked up. The lady with whom checked in and out is very kind, thank you for the good service and kindness even after checking out 30 minutes later than checkout time.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Le Lauriers. It has all the charm of a beautiful family home, right in the heart of Saint-Tropez, yet it’s tucked away just enough to escape the crowds and noise. You’re only a couple of minutes’ walk from everything, but it feels like a peaceful oasis. The hotel is family-run, and that really shows. Everyone makes you feel genuinely welcome, as though you’re staying with friends rather than at a hotel. Breakfast in the garden each morning was a real highlight and the whole place has a relaxed, stylish atmosphere. If you’re deciding between staying here or in a large, anonymous five-star hotel, I’d choose Hotel Le Lauriers every time. It has character, warmth and personality that money simply can’t buy. Highly recommended.
Seerat Mann★★★★★
The hotel is centrally located and very neat and clean. The team was very helpful with any questions or queries. Also for two female travellers, it is very safe. Will recommend!
Burt Hudson★★★★★
Great and easy experience. About a 12 minute walk from the port. Great location right by the Saturday market. Staff was excellent. Rooms aren’t big but are enough without huge suitcases, and bathroom is plenty big. AC kept it very cool at night and the automatic shutters helped for sleeping in. Everything in the room was spotless clean. Nice bed, blankets, and comforter, and plenty of extra pillows already in the room if needed which I like.
Zara Durrani★★★★★
A beautiful boutique hideaway right in the heart of the village. My stay was peaceful, stylish, and wonderfully authentic close to everything. The staff and the owner were extremely warm and welcoming, and breakfast in the garden felt quintessentially Riviera. Highly recommend for anyone seeking understated Saint-Tropez charm.

Beautiful hotel with magnificient staff. Charming rooms. The place, the feelings, close to everything. In the heart of Saint Tropez. The owner runs the neighboring restaurant. The kitchen is fantastic there, too! You should try it.

We had a fabulous time at the hotel. What really was the standout was the amazing team working there. I forgot my purse and passport and they were so helpful in coordinating with the delivery of it to us at our next destination. The breakfast was great to have in the morning. The AC was great during the heatwave that happened when we were there. It’s a smaller boutique hotel but so charming. The complimentary hat and bag to use at the hotel was a great touch. I would recommend putting blackout curtains in the room on all windows, especially the ones that don’t have shutters. Walking back from town is a bit uphill, but an uber is fairly cheap so we’d just do that if it was too late or hot.

It’s the perfect hotel, the hospitality from both Philippe’s is outstanding, they really make you feel like home, and the hotel is well located beautiful and with a good restaurant, specially recommend the burger! 10/10!!

I had a fantastic stay in this hotel. The view from my room was marvelous, breakfast was exquisite, and all the people working in the hotel were super friendly. The pool is outstanding and allows you to do great laps. Also very well located, only 15 minutes walk from the center. Highly recommend this hotel in Saint Tropez!
Onur Bademci★★★★★
We had to cancel our trip unexpectedly, and although our reservation was non-refundable, the hotel kindly refunded the full amount as a gesture of goodwill. This level of empathy and customer care is truly rare these days. We are incredibly grateful and will absolutely choose this hotel when we finally make it to Saint-Tropez. Highly recommended for both hospitality and professionalism!

I totally loved the hotel for it's atmosphere, nice design and very kind and supportive personnel. They were always there to answer all our questions and help us with everything we needed. Definitely will stay here again when next time in Santropez. Also hotel has great location which is close to city center, but is very quiet at the same time

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The concierge were so helpful with booking the restaurants and even managed to get us the dinner time we wanted. The rooms are new and spacious. The location was perfect! Right in the center of ST Tropez town. No car needed.

Wonderful brand new hotel! Perfect location in the heart of St Tropez, and just nearby the beach. The hotel team is super nice, bellboy , reception and restaurant team. Everyone were so friendly. Breakfast is also wonderful. Thanks a lot the team for making our stay so special . We will be back, for sure.!

Aqui está uma tradução natural e elegante em inglês: A hotel with an excellent location and a staff that truly deserves more than five stars. Everyone, from the breakfast team to the valet parking staff, the front desk, and the concierge, was exceptionally attentive, professional, and always willing to help. A special mention goes to Julie at the front desk, who truly made all the difference during our stay. Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made us feel especially welcome. The Hilton is truly an outstanding choice in Saint-Tropez, at any time of the year.
matt★☆☆☆☆
I had a poor experience at this hotel and personally will avoid staying here going forward. For starters, the website clearly outlines that all rooms have a private terrace and sunbed, it says this explicitly in the website. When I arrived to my room, it was located on a below ground floor with no balcony and barely any daylight (nearly $1k usd per night). In addition, the pool is gross. The chairs are dirty, it is shared with multiple properties who’s tenants have no incentive to maintain good posture, and it is down the road with no clear signs or indications of how to reach the venue. The hotel staff was far from helpful, this is the first time I have ever checked into a hotel and not gotten an overview of what’s available onsite, what rooms feature, where to find breakfast, wifi information, etc. basic accommodations. It’s not that I’m being unreasonable either, there was no one else checking in when I arrived, so they were not busy. My concierge requested an explanation regarding why the website states rooms have features which they do not, they stopped responding and would not answer any future communications. Overall, I would recommend seeking other places to stay. For the price, the quality of accommodations and level of service is not even close to comparative experiences in Saint Tropez or other destinations. EDIT: It took lots of time (multiple hours and long messages) and effort but the hotel offered an appropriate resolution. I still am not happy overall but better than nothing.

Wow. Absolute gem especially for the price. We stayed at the 3 bedroom villa tucked into the back of the property. It was very comfortable, super clean, and had a perfect mix of hotel and villa amenities! Yannik was exceptional. He was a pleasure and truly went above and beyond. He even stocked the fridge for our arrival. Breakfast was simple but perfect, some of the best croissants I’ve had in my life. Slightly outside of town but a simple 5-10 minute walk in so really optimal, little to no traffic. And a massive parking area. Would recommend and would stay again 10/10.
Oliver M-L★★☆☆☆
To be fair, the room was very nice with a good view however this is very far from a four-star hotel, it has no facilities such as no gym, no pool, no spa or anything else apart from the room and , the corridors are very old and a little dirty. The staff were friendly but for the price it is honestly the most overpriced Hotel I’ve stayed in my life. I paid around €800 per night. I stay in hotels six months of the year for my work and this is by far the most expensive hotel for the least things I’ve ever gotten; there was not even breakfast included. Even if the price was halved, it would still be over priced. I’m aware the city is expensive, but somethings are worth the price and something are not. I do not recommend.

An absolutely wonderful stay. The staff’s hospitality and service were exceptional from start to finish. The sea view and spacious bathroom made it truly special. Less than 10 minute walking distance to “downtown”. Highly recommend!!

This 5-star review is for Crystal and the owner of the establishment. Crystal truly went above and beyond. When our son was sick, she was incredibly caring and helpful, and when we lost our charger, she kindly lent us her own. The owner was equally kind. The rooms were beautiful, and the location was perfect. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a wonderful time at Bastide du Port!! The rooms are wonderful, embodying the simple elegance of st.tropez, and the staff is equally as accommodating and courteous. Breakfast is served in a wonderful serene garden. The hotel is a simple 8’ walk from the center, would highly recommend!

Hôtel La Ponche, located in the heart of the old city, is a stunning boutique hotel. The hotel is both intimate and welcoming, with the staff making every effort to make our stay perfect in every way. Our room had a beautiful terrace that was steps away from the water. The concierge was terrific both in securing every reservation we requested and also recommending wonderful restaurants. The hotel valet was spectacular, guiding us into the old city and bringing us to and from our car. The hotel is simply phenomenal.
Hilary Mehrkam★★★★★
We had an incredible stay at La Ponche during our recent family vacation. We booked one of the hotel’s apartments and it was simply perfect. We loved staying in-town and it was such a pleasure to return to La Ponche after each day. But, what really made the visit special was the genuine warmth from the staff who went out of their way in every interaction. I would highly recommend a stay at La Ponche for your next stay in St. Tropez!
Jonathan Skewes★★★★☆
Wife and I came here for last leg of honeymoon. Service was incredible. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. They upgraded us to a room with a balcony, which I greatly appreciated. Good location, if you want to be in the center of town. Rooms were a bit on the smaller side, but have a feeling this is due to location (most 5 star hotels in the area are slightly outside the town, in the hills). Great toiletries. Only reason for 4 stars vs 5 was dinner at restaurant: the food itself wasn’t anything to write home about, especially for the price. That said, we had a lovely time, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, 5 star stay in the heart of St Tropez.
Daryl Lee★★★★★
La Ponche is one of our favorite hotels in the world. The location is ideal, right next to the port. The food is amazing, every dish is tasty. Most importantly the service is incredible, the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, and responsive to every request. I almost don’t want to post this to avoid this place from becoming too crowded. But commendation is needed.
William Fogler★★★★★
Hotel La Ponche was fabulous! Their old world touches like real keys that you leave at the desk, beautifully uniformed staff and gorgeous flowers were very appreciated. My room was wonderfully appointed but unfortunately up a very small winding staircase - which I didn't love at 5:00am after dancing the night away. Overall I would highly recommend Hotel La Ponche. Their team is continuing to assist me with a few issues after my trip with other vendors.

This is my second time in St Tropez and the first time at Le Cheval Blanc and wow, I can only say wow. If you look at my reviews I have stayed at amazing hotels and this might be the top one. Firstly it’s the only hotel on the ocean in St Tropez, no other. Secondly the service is absolutely incredible, housekeeping is amazing, bar tenders are amazing and the restaurant servers for breakfast, lunch and dinner are spectacular, yes spectacular, watching them work is like watching the ballet. Amazing hotel and we can’t wait to go back next year. Btw the rooms are also incredible.

We stopped by for a drink at 7:00 p.m. on a Monday. The valet parking attendants welcomed us warmly, but since we did not have a reservation, they informed us that access usually not be allowed. We politely asked them to check with reception, and a lady came over to tell us that the bar was fully booked, despite the fact that the venue appeared almost empty. The attitude felt unnecessarily pretentious, and the experience did not reflect the level of hospitality one would expect. We had initially considered looking at the restaurant and potentially making a reservation for another visit, but after this interaction, we are not inclined to return anytime soon, even though we visit St. Tropez regularly. We ultimately went to Hotel La Messardière, where we received a genuinely warm welcome and enjoyed a much more pleasant experience.
Max Lrn★★★★☆
Saint Tropez is unique because it is just a tiny village with so many restaurants, shops etc etc. But there is no space. So do not expect here the same luxury as you will get from Cheval Blanc at other locations. The service, food etc. are perfect as usual. But the location isn't that fantastic and you must take the shuttle to go anywhere. Also the shuttle stops at 1AM so if you go party and finish late, you must find an Uber or taxi. This is the biggest drawback. In St Tropez you will need a shuttle 24/7. Other than that, I find it to have the best amenities and service of all the downtown hotels from Saint Tropez.
Aline Andrelo★★★☆☆
Service especially at the restaurant was medium so was the food. The beach by the hotel Is not so amazing. Close enough to city center
Jennie Veronika★★★★★
Firstly, the hotel is beautifully located with a cute little beach for the hotel guests. The restaurant, La Tereza was out of this world, the waiters gave next level service and the ambiance was classy yet warm! We had lunch so it was a set menu (you could still choose from options, 5 star is an understatement! I had the bursts as starter, lobster for main and strawberry cake for dessert. It was just amazing!

Essential Tips for Booking Your Stay in Saint-Tropez

Securing the ideal hotel in Saint-Tropez requires strategy, especially if you are traveling during the high season. The market here is unlike any other in France, often prioritizing long-standing clientele and early bookings. To ensure you get the best value and the exact atmosphere you are looking for, consider the following practical advice before confirming your reservation.

Book months in advance for July and August. Saint-Tropez is a small village with a finite number of hotel rooms. The best properties, particularly those with sea views or direct beach access, sell out six months to a year in advance. Last-minute deals are rare during peak season; waiting usually means settling for less desirable locations or paying a significant premium.

Decide between the village and the beach. The geography of Saint-Tropez splits the experience. Staying in the village center puts you steps away from restaurants, nightlife, and the port, but you will likely lack a large pool or private garden. Staying on the Route des Plages or in Ramatuelle offers space, tranquility, and beach access, but requires a car, taxi, or shuttle to reach the town center.

Verify parking and shuttle services. Driving in central Saint-Tropez during summer is notoriously difficult. If you plan to rent a car, ensure your hotel offers secure on-site parking. Alternatively, look for properties that provide complimentary shuttle services to the beach clubs or the Place des Lices, as this can save you significant time and stress.

Understand the difference between a hotel and a beach club. Some iconic names in Saint-Tropez are primarily beach restaurants and clubs that have a handful of rooms attached. These offer a fantastic party atmosphere but often lack the quiet, full-service amenities of a traditional hotel. Read the fine print regarding pool access, concierge services, and room privacy before booking a "hotel" that is actually a beach club.

Look for flexible cancellation policies. Given the high cost of accommodation here, travel insurance is highly recommended. Additionally, prioritize booking directly with the hotel rather than through third-party aggregators. Direct bookings often come with benefits such as free breakfast, room upgrades, or more flexible cancellation terms, which can be invaluable if your plans change.

The magic of Saint-Tropez lies in its ability to be both a glamorous playground and a quiet Mediterranean village. By choosing the right base, you unlock the version of the Riviera that suits you best. Whether you spend your days people-watching at Sénéquier or napping under a parasol at a private beach, the perfect hotel ensures you return to a sanctuary of comfort.

Ultimately, the best hotel for you is the one that aligns with your travel rhythm. Consider what you want to remember most about your trip: the energy of the port at sunset, or the silence of a garden at dawn. With the right planning, your stay in Saint-Tropez will be as legendary as the destination itself.
