Honfleur’s cobbled lanes, slate-fronted houses, and bustling Vieux Bassin have long made it a magnet for artists and romantics. Yet beyond the impressionist light and gallery windows, there is a quieter revolution happening in the town’s kitchens. A new wave of chefs and restaurateurs is broadening the local palate, bringing the delicate balance of ginger, lemongrass, soy, and chili to this corner of Normandy.
For years, dining in Honfleur meant Calvados-laced sauces, wheels of Camembert, and platters of fruits de mer. While those classics remain essential, many visitors now crave the aromatic depth and textural contrast of Asian cuisine. The demand has led to a flourishing scene that spans refined Japanese omakase counters, bustling Vietnamese pho kitchens, and cozy Thai bistros tucked behind the harbor.
The beauty of Asian dining in Honfleur is its intimacy. Unlike the sprawling brasseries facing the port, many of these restaurants are small, family-run establishments where recipes have traveled across continents. Here, a bowl of ramen is not a trend but a craft, and a perfectly rolled sushi maki reflects years of disciplined training.
Seafood, unsurprisingly, plays a starring role. Honfleur’s fishing boats supply the same morning catch to Japanese chefs slicing sashimi and to Thai cooks folding prawns into fragrant curries. The result is a unique fusion where Norman Atlantic produce meets the precision of East and Southeast Asian technique.
Whether you are looking for a warming bowl of noodles after a rainy harbor walk or a celebratory tasting menu of tempura and nigiri, the town offers surprising depth. The challenge is knowing which unassuming doorways hide the most memorable meals.
To help you navigate the choices, we have selected the standout addresses where quality, consistency, and atmosphere align. These are the tables worth booking in advance, the ones locals recommend to friends, and the ones that deliver an authentic taste of Asia without leaving Normandy.

Lovely dinner here tonight, sat out in the sunshine on the outdoor tables. The host was very friendly and keen to help, and the food options were varied and interesting. 2 great vegetarian options (out of 5 total options!) so definitely vegetarian friendly. The meals were full of vegetables, tasted fresh and were made using seasonal ingredients. Drinks and desserts were tasty and local too! Highly recommend this little gem ☺️

A wonderful experience in the heart of Honfleur
Restaurant Sauvage is a true gem – beautiful setting, friendly staff, and excellent food. We enjoyed a perfectly cooked main course, a light and tasty poke bowl, and delicious desserts. We were especially impressed by the Duo cerise estragon – an original and beautifully balanced dessert that’s a treat for both the taste buds and the eyes.
A lovely surprise was the homemade cider – well-balanced and perfectly complementing the meal. The price-to-quality ratio is excellent. We highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates honest, creative cuisine with character and heart.

An incredible place. They mostly cater for take away orders but if you are lucky enough to spot a free table (one inside and two outside) go for it! The menu changes weekly, produce is local and organic and comes from the chef's parents garden; you can also taste apple cider and juice produced by his father. The food was simply scrumptious, so so delicious. A separate note on the place design, it is slick and minimalistic-ly chic. Highly recommend

During my recent business trip, I stumbled upon a hidden gem of a restaurant that caught my attention on Google. With only two tables, this intimate spot offers a thoughtfully curated menu featuring meat, vegetarian, and fish dishes. Although it lacks the extensive setup of larger establishments, the chef’s dedication to crafting each dish is evident in the flavors. Don’t miss the ultimate highlight: the French toast dessert, which is absolutely top-notch and worth the visit alone.

Incredible restaurant with a rotating menu and great concept. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone in Honfleur, especially those seeking creative and inspired takes using local ingredients. We had a wonderful experience and cannot recommend enough.

We had a fabulous dinner to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and were charmed by this restaurant. The interior has a great theme with sausage dogs and makes you want to explore every single corner. The menu has an Asian cuisine twist and everything is beautifully prepared and presented. The upside down bowl and the salad were both excellent and the drinks were of great quality and price (very good Prosecco for anyone that has missed a glass of this).
Gunsu Kiziltan★★★★★
Cute little restaurant that we enjoyed very much, African and French vibes together, the chef makes a great combination. We were lucky to find a seat for two without reservation. We tried the shrimp tempura, hamburger and the famous upside down. All delicious with combination to great vines.
A must try local option in Honfleur as there are a lot of touristic restaurants which I did not like. It is a dog friendly restaurant and you can see and pet Sissi there, she is really cute. The owners and the service were implacable. If we come to Honfleur again, we will definitely do another visit to this lovely restaurant.

We could not fault this place. The welcome was wonderful, the service fantastic and the food utterly delicious. We really appreciated the effort to understand our poor French and we really appreciated how welcome we were made to feel. Thank you again for a really lovely evening.

After a long walk, we stopped at Sissi & Voltaire for a warm drink. We and our dog were given a very friendly welcome. The cosy atmosphere, the cheerful mood and warm welcome prompted us to spontaneously decide to eat something too. We are vegans and our wishes were taken into account as a matter of course and without any fuss. The food was extra delicious, beautifully presented and served quickly. We felt completely at home! Thank you very much for a wonderful stay, we would love to come back!

We bought sushi Wednesday evening, and the prices were already high for such disappointing quality. The salmon and cream cheese California rolls weren't even fully sealed. (The salmon didn't even wrap around the edge and was cut extremely thin...) But the worst part was that the rice wasn't even cooked. The California rolls wrapped in rice paper weren't cut all the way through. You take one with your chopsticks and end up with three. They were the worst sushi and California rolls we've ever had. Awful. They were fit for the bin...

Always such a warm welcome from the staff! Smiling and friendly. Lots of promotions, and a nice tasting experience. And of course, the sushi is excellent, and the other dishes are just as good!
I recommend it 100%! ☺️

Pho was terrible: cheap meatballs, beef was undercooked, and hard to chew.
Spring rolls and fried shrimp were extremely oily, cooked in old oil, and did not even touch them.
Cooking place is dirty. The food tray is dirty. Spoon for my soup was greasy - I don't know if they even wash dishes properly.
Pho is 12 euros, which is expensive for a buillon with soja meatballs.
Staff is nice and friendly.

Maybe it was not the chef's best cooking day but regarding to our food (Beef Curry, Fried Rice, Kids Menue) there is a lot of space for improvement 😉 ... the Starters we're ok, but the main dishes we're overcooked and not well flavoured.
Positive -> the staff was really friendly and also the location is nice 😊.

A magical time with an artist, full of love and passion. One of our best culinary experiences in a very unexpected place. We paid 150€ for 2 and we'll be back for another of Leandro's menu some day.

A wonderful dining experience!! Plan ahead and make your reservation a day in advance for one of the best meals of your life. The cook and proprietor- Leo - ensured we had the most amazing dining experience. The ingredients (breads, meats cheeses, wines, etc.) are all thoughtfully chosen and grown/made in the region / close to the restaurant. Do yourself a favor and escape Honfleur’s busy downtown for a unique and delicious meal situated in a beautiful garden that’s also in the shadow of a trampoline park, which only adds interest and whimsy to the experience. Leo will be happy to recommend wines to pair with your meal — take his advice! He’s a pro and his choices helped elevate our meal. Easily my best meal in Honfleur.

We live in the area, but last night was the first time we had tried this place. We went with 2 of our adult sons. The food was excellent and the portions are generous. We especially liked the pork with a smoked cream sauce. The service was also very good, friendly and knowledgeable. We will certainly go back!

There are few places in life where you truly experience another persons passion, culture, and craft. If you’re looking for an authentic, well defined, distinguished experience, then look no further. With compassionate attention to your individual experience, the owner/master chef, enables you to fully appreciate each particularly crafted course. (Hint: ask for their pairing for wines). If you’re looking for a unique, awe inspiring sensational food experience, then this is your hidden gem.

The service was very nice. We enjoyed the wine recommendation and also dessert. However, the main course that we ordered was not up to expectation. Octopus was super rubbery (our fault for not voicing out). The potato that came with the steak was burnt. However, the service was good!

L'Oxalis was a really lovely dining experience overall. The service stood out right from the start — we were initially seated inside, but when we asked to move outdoors to enjoy the beautiful square, the staff were more than happy to accommodate us. Throughout the meal, the waiters were incredibly attentive, regularly checking in to make sure everything was okay. They were warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which made a big difference.
The food was superb. The oysters were fresh, the foie gras was rich and delicious, and the mains were excellent — we had the lamb and the salmon, both cooked perfectly. The only small downside was the menu selection, as I would have liked to see a bit more seafood on offer.
Dessert was decent, though not quite as strong as the rest of the meal. I tried the mille-feuille out of curiosity, but it didn’t fully win me over.
Overall, it’s a very good restaurant with fantastic service and high-quality food. I’d definitely recommend it.
Lauren Ashby★★★★★
Really excellent food. I had the fish of the day, served with a quinoa risotto in a saffron and shellfish sauce. My husband had the tataki. Both perfectly made. For our daughter it was fish of the day with best mashed potato ever and lovelycarrots. Kind and considerate wait staff. Great find!

We’ve been in France, Brittany and Normandy for two weeks and to be frank the meals out - from cheap to expensive -have been mixed. However at L Oxalis we arrived at what we wanted from French cooking. Not overcomplicated, great sources, interesting choices, and fantastic tastes. A nice place to finish.

A wonderful restaurant showcasing the best of French cuisine. Fresh, locally sourced seafood takes center stage, complemented by attentive service and a creative menu with refined presentation. The oysters and shellfish are exceptionally fresh — truly a highlight of the dining experience.

Very friendly atmosphere with an approachable, yet elevated, menu. We enjoyed the beef tartare, served with Parmesan and shaved egg, accompanied by fries - absolute must try. Also enjoyed the monkfish and Katsudon-style fried chicken bowl with pickled cabbage. As to see the dessert tray - you won’t be able to pass. For those of us with limited language skills, there is a menu available in English.

We visited SaQuaNa during our first evening in Honfleur. And what a surprise it was. Food was amazing. The chef turns authentic dishes modern without losing any of the taste or appeal. The chef knows to pull of something you don't see often; the restaurant offers dishes from all over the world, which all meet the same high standards. How I know? Because we couldn't resist revisiting the restaurant after our first try.
The staff is also worth mentioning. They are very welcoming and kind. They do their best to make you feel at home and offer you the best evening possible.
Muthulakshmi Subbiah★★★★★
SaQuaNa was a last minute pick for lunch during a day trip to Honfleur, and it ended up my favourite spot in the week I spent in France. The menu is seasonal and changes, with set options (starter + main course or main course + dessert, etc.)
It was a BEAUTIFUL summer day, we got the following:
1. They started us off with some fantastic home made bread (paid extra for butter, which was also worth it) - 10/10
2. The starter was salmon, it has a lovely silken texture, in a sorrel brothy sauce - 10/10 This is probably one of the best dishes I've had in a fine dining restaurant
3. Our main was a mince beef filled, fried sea shell in a fresh tomato sauce - 8.5/10 it would have been a 10 but I thought the seashell pasta was a tad thick, especially when fried
4. Dessert - pistachio tart, and lemon meringue tart. 10/10 for both
5. Had the recommended pinot with the meal
The bill was about 75 Euros for 2 people.
The view of the street was so cute, and I loved looking at all their gorgeous bread on display. I highly recommend the place!

I’m giving this place a 5-star review because it was a nice discovery. We went in for an afternoon snack.
The staff were welcoming and quick to come.
The cakes are really delicious. There is a great variety in which a lady comes in person to explain to you each one.
I recommend this place for a cosy afternoon snack out with friends or family or loved ones!

The staff at the restaurant warmly welcomed us, and the food not only tasted delicious but also felt light and healthy. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant added to the positive experience. During our visit, we were on a tour and had concerns about getting our food on time. The staff, in a reassuring and friendly manner, assured us that everything would be served promptly. Their caring attitude made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

On Christmas Day, we had the great pleasure of enjoying a seven-course meal at Le Lingot—an exceptional experience in every way.
The menu was intuitively and ingeniously put together by the chef on the day and was impressive in every way. Whether it was lobster, scallops, caviar with oysters, or the perfectly cooked sous-vide veal with freshly grated truffles – every single course was culinary excellence and characterized by excellent product quality.
The service was attentive, warm, and perfectly coordinated. The cozy, intimate atmosphere, accompanied by atmospheric chanson music, lent the evening a very special elegance.
A particular highlight was the personal finale, when we had the opportunity to thank Frédéric personally for this wonderful meal. An evening of the highest standard – excellent and absolutely recommendable!

If you want a dining experiences like no other, make a reservation and go to Le Lingot. The Chef (Fred) prepares amazing dishes daily. There is no set menu, but go there with an open mind to be surprised and have your taste buds overwhelmed with amazing flavors. Don’t skimp and do only the 4 or 6 course. Splurge and do the full menu, you will not be disappointed. The wine selection is vast, start out with a glass of Champagne and then do a bottle that pairs well with the evening selection. They have multiple price points. The atmosphere is so elegant and nice. This is one of the top 3 restaurants I’ve ever dined. If you have a special someone and want a special dinner experience don’t miss this in Honfleur.

We had an amazing evening in this incredibly beautiful restaurant in the middle of Honfleur.

I was nervous about eating here and being served what they cooked rather than being able to order what I wanted, but it was amazing. One of the best restaurants I ever ate in with fantastic service in a cozy and beautiful setting. All 7 courses were excellent. This restaurant deserves at least one Michelin star if not more and the price was very reasonable for the quality. If you are in town I would highly recommend reserving a table.

This is an excellent restaurant with awesome Haute Cuisine at very reasonable pricing and therefore really great value for the price (especially when you take the menu). The interior design is gorgeous, very nice and not too loud music (could actually be from my playlist 😅) and the food was really delicious (unfortunately forgot to take photos from the „Valrhona Tout Chocolate“ dessert). Only point of criticism is that we had to wait way too long for our starter (almost 90min!), but the rest was then pretty much on time and the waiter apologized for the delay with one consumed glass of wine not being on the bill, so that’s somewhat OK!
Chi H. Lee★★★★☆
Booked the Albertine based on reviews. I would say the rating is spot on. What I must point out is that the service is excellent. 2 people at the front of the house. No waiting time, fast and efficient. Friendly and accurate, chapeau! The food was good. Then fish of the day was a bit bland and lacked some texture and seasoning. The octopus that I had tasted excellent. One tentacle was a little too cooked for my taste, but still on the acceptable spectrum. Flavors were excellent. The kids dish was well executed and they made it a little different with some combava. All in all a very pleasant experience. The ambience is pleasant, maybe a little to modern for me. I like it more rustic. Keep up the great work, especially the service, top notch.
Peter Tsetsis★★★☆☆
Lovely decor with decent but not excellent food. The biggest disappointment was the level of service. Our server acted as if she had somewhere else to be. She dropped… actually dropped…the Amuse Bouche on the table without telling us what it was. Never a smile, never checked to refill our champagne glasses, never asked how we were enjoying our meal. Others have enjoyed this restaurant. Maybe we caught them on a bad night.

"The food is so yummy—real Thai taste! The Pad Kaprao and Chicken Curry are delicious. The owners are so kind, and it felt so warm to meet fellow Thai people here. They even sell Thai seasonings in the shop! It’s a small place with just a few seats, but it’s great because the food is amazing and the price is very cheap. Totally worth it!"
"P.S. The food photos might not look great because I already started eating before I realized I should take some! I was just too hungry."

What a fantastic little gem in Honfleur! We had the red and green curries, and both were absolutely outstanding—fresh, authentic, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Even though it’s primarily a takeaway, our food was served on proper plates with cutlery, which made for a really enjoyable meal.
What really made the experience special, though, was the wonderful couple who run the restaurant. The owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming and charismatic, making us feel like valued guests from the moment we walked in. His Thai wife, who does the cooking, is absolutely lovely, and her passion and skill shines through in every dish.
There are a couple of tables inside and one outside, making it a great little spot to enjoy your meal.

After 31 days traveling in a few places in Europe, we were surprised to find our favorite meal at this Thai restaurant. Really appreciate the chef’s skill—everything is fresh, not only the vegetable and meat, even hard-to-find herbs like galangal and lemongrass. We ordered nearly the entire menu across a few days and every dish was so delicious. The place is a bit too small, but still cozy. A must-visit!

Before you make a reservation or stroll in from the harbor, it helps to know how dining in Honfleur works. The tourist flow near the Vieux Bassin is heavy, and not every neon sign advertising “sushi” or “nems” delivers the same level of care. These practical tips will help you find the most satisfying meal for your budget and mood.
Book ahead for weekend dinners. Honfleur is a compact town, and the best Asian kitchens often have fewer than thirty seats. A Friday or Saturday walk-in can mean a long wait or a missed opportunity, especially during spring and summer festivals.
Look beyond the harbor front. The most atmospheric and authentic restaurants are usually one or two streets back from the water. You will often find better value, more focused menus, and a calmer dining room away from the portrait artists and ice cream stands.
Ask about the day’s fresh fish specials. Because Honfleur is an active fishing port, many Asian chefs adapt their menus daily. A sashimi platter or a Thai seafood curry made with locally landed turbot, scallops, or sea bass is often the best thing on the table.
Check the lunch menus, known as “formules.” Many restaurants offer a midday set menu that includes a starter, main course, and sometimes a drink. This is the smartest way to sample high-quality Asian cooking without paying evening à la carte prices.
Consider dietary needs before you go. Japanese and Vietnamese kitchens in Honfleur are generally accommodating with gluten-free rice noodles, tofu, and vegetable broths. A quick phone call or a look at the menu posted outside can save time if you have strict requirements.
Be patient with service during peak season. Family-run Asian restaurants often operate with a small front-of-house team. The pace may feel slower than a Parisian brasserie, but the trade-off is food prepared to order and a warmer, more personal welcome.
Honfleur’s Asian dining scene is a reminder that great food cultures travel well when they respect local ingredients. The best chefs here are not simply replicating dishes from Bangkok, Tokyo, or Hanoi. They are listening to the Norman seasons and letting the region’s seafood, vegetables, and even its cider influence the final plate.
So after you have walked the length of the Vieux Bassin, climbed the hill to the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce, or wandered through the Sainte-Catherine church, give yourself permission to step away from the moules-frites. A steaming bowl of pho, a delicate piece of nigiri, or a fiery Thai basil stir-fry might just become your most memorable meal in Honfleur.
